Things We Care About
Well, Tumblr, 2022 was another big year for speaking up and supporting each other. In the past year, you took action, turned art into activism, and made your voices heard, often in support of others. We’ve analyzed your top tags and posts to determine what mattered to you in the last year.
When Ukraine was invaded, you showed your support. You continue to #stand with Ukraine, create for Ukraine, and honor Ukrainian artists caught in the crossfires.
Throughout the year, you shared many messages of body positivity and encouragement, held 5,879,971 private exchanges with @kokobot (yes, you and kokobot rlly r bestiez), and sent an inconceivable amount of anonymous, personalized messages of reassurance to each other.
You celebrated Pride with plenty of wholesome artistic offerings and showed solidarity with your peers all over the world. You stood up against the Don’t Say Gay bill in Florida and informed each other on how to vote against trans-exclusionary policies across America. When Rebel Wilson and Kit Conner were both pressured into coming out, you supported them, commiserated with them, and came to the defense of anyone who's ever been pressured to do so.
When Mahsa Amini was killed, you spoke out and posted in support of protests in Iran, learning about and spreading awareness of what women, girls, and protestors endure in the name of tradition in Iran.
When Roe v. Wade was overturned, you shared countless resources for those affected by reproductive rights infringement in the US, again turning to art as a means to share stories and ignite action. You commemorated the victims of the Uvalde shooting, saying enough is enough when it comes to gun-related violence in America. You turned your rage into art that inspires and nudged others to make their voices heard at the US polls.
You reminded users that the “civil rights movement isn’t as “ancient” as we’re taught in class,” that Black lives still matter, and always will matter. You celebrated Black Joy and Black Excellence, illuminating stories of resilience in the face of racial injustice.
You celebrated your Indigenous culture and took a stand for the preservation of Indigenous lands.
You continued to be planet-conscious by sharing ideas, resources, and knowledge of mending and making, and celebrated conservation efforts along the way.
And finally, under the continued stresses of COVID, you looked to the future with resilience, turning pain and uncertainty into hope and connection.
And that’s definitely something to be proud of. What will you stand for in 2023?

It's funny when people use Hamas as a gotcha point to support Israhell. Let's imagine a place without Hamas and that would be the West Bank of Palestine and guess what? Israhell is still killing Palestinians there. It doesn't matter if Hamas exists or not. Before Israhell legalized Hamas, they still committed mass murder in Palestine. They'll continue to use Hamas as an excuse to commit genocide against Palestine.
The main culprit is I*rael. But they somehow convinced y'all that Hamas is the problem.

Police throwing Jewish people because they are protesting against genocide in Palestine.
We're living in a time where people get arrested for telling others not to commit genocide.

Has anyone else noticed Tumblr no longer has "Things We Care About" about the trending topics? I noticed that yesterday the #2 topic was Free Palestine, and now today it's no where.
So why do you think that is? Anyone else notice?
Because I sure have. I noticed.

Time for a little poll:
Please respond and spread this post as much as possible. The goal is to get as many people as possible to participate and hopefully bring attention to what's going on in Iran.

i vote that next year instead of reading Dracula we do a Jeeves & Wooster Book Club. those two never got the rabid tumblr shipping fandom they deserved (disqualified for the sheer technicality of being published a century too soon). we must correct this injustice

Let me make this one thing clear. Israhell doesn't care about their hostages. Never did. And after the release of that elderly woman who spoke highly of Hamas, Israhell is less enthusiastic now.
They've cut off the last telecommunication method in Palestine. So, they're not planning to communicate to negotiate in getting back their citizens. Israhell government only wants to ethically erase Palestine and it doesn't matter who lives there. In naqba, they killed Muslims, Jews, Christians without remorse. They'd happily bomb those hostages for their own gain and later blame it on Hamas just like they did with the hospital incident.
Their real faces have been exposed in front of the world, especially to the people of western world (the eastern world already knew). And now they have lost shame. No need to wear that mask anymore.
They've failed to break the spirit of Palestinian people and it hurts their fragile insecure ego. They're killing thousands of people and still couldn't make a dent in the spirit of Palestine.
Israhell government is the walking living monster. They're walking nightmares yet they couldn't make those Palestinians afraid of them. Even little Palestinian girls stand up to IDF terrorists. They're a bunch of cowards with big machines. They're pathetic, they're vile.
And what gives me hope is that people (not the government) around the world are standing with Palestine. They're choosing humanity. They're embracing the spirit of Palestinian people.
People of Palestine have managed to bring out the inner spirit of people around the world. I've seen people who were too afraid to speak up against their own governments are joining gatherings to stand with Palestine and stand against oppression.
Long live Palestine 🇵🇸
Free Palestine 🇵🇸

I don't know if it's just me but it seems like media has a harder time pushing gay people in media because of how long it hasn't been seen in a healthy way
From the p0rm , bl , yoai, not being saleable enough and many other biases
Like think about every media that is mostly LGBT friendly and what relationships do they not show mlm ones let that sit for a second
Looking at benson and gus

You know what? I don’t WANT an awkward double date. I don’t WANT buck coming out and people having the ‘I know’ reaction or the ‘is it Eddie’ reaction.
You know what I do want?
I want Buck panicking over what to wear for the date. I want Buck flopping on his bed like very teenager after their first kiss all giggly and happy and touching his lips because he kissed a boy
I want Buck smiling every time he says Tommy’s name because maybe it isn’t forever and maybe he’s not even looking for forever anymore but he’s so happy and he’s so light and being with Tommy feels good
I want Tommy to keep calling him Evan, because before Buck was Buck he was Evan and Evan deserves to be happy to be treated so softly and lovingly and Evan deserves to be free.
I want Buck to be happy. To be happy and free and queer in the way we all deserve.

I find it truly baffling that, despite its users' supposed bent for social justice and wokeness (which I genuinely think is a very good thing!), Tumblr has let Iran slip through the cracks. I've been on and off this site for years, and, as far as I can see, posts dealing with Iran haven't been getting nearly as much engagement as those dealing with other matters. So, tell me, what's going on here?

meeting wyll at the grove, as someone who the tieflings trust enough to train their children, says so much about him. it's so sad that he doesn't get explored in acts 2-3 as deeply as the other companions, when his problems are equally intense. the average player probably long rests once before coming across the grove, but even if not, in that time wyll has already proven to the tieflings that they can rely on the Blade of Frontiers.
this is the immediate first thing he chooses to do after being condemned to slow death via ceremorphosis. his priority list in the first conversations with tav is: 1) hunt down a dangerous devil, 2) help zevlor with the goblins, 3) once nothing threatens the tieflings he will gladly search for a tadpole cure. wyll is perpetually his own last priority, and i wonder if it has to do with the lore about souls.
if he believes mind flayers' souls have been destroyed, and fiend warlocks will all have their souls sent to the hells after death, then becoming a mind flayer isn't the worst possible way for him to die. he would never become a mindless monster to save his own soul, but he's not gripped by horror the way that some of the other origin characters are. lae'zel has been made revoltingly impure to her people, astarion is terrified of losing the scrap of bodily autonomy he just regained, gale is guilt-ridden over the orb detonation if he dies, shadowheart has to survive to prove herself to her cult leader, and karlach has also just regained bodily autonomy and is desparate to live.
this is just another quest for the Blade, whose persona guards wyll ravengard against the vice of self-concern when he ought to be concerned for those in need.

I love this gay ass show with its literally life ending injuries that heal immediately, but only when convenient to the plot, and its ridiculous use of modern phrases, and its laughing in the face of historical accuracy, and its kissing the face of the fans instead of trying to outwit them, and the way everyone involved in the show seem to go 'I KNOW RIGHT! I'M EXCITED TOO!' instead of mocking the fans
