Humans are not space orcs
They are feral and terrifying to other species and they shouldn't even be in space wtf- But can also procreate with practically any other sapient species, which is baffling and horrifying because for some, gets another human, some it's another of that species, but for others there's now hybrids between two very dangerous deathworld species runnin about
Humans should not be out in so far in space but some poaching idiots brought some and now there's not getting rid of them  It's like someone's pet rabbits got out and bred with the wild rabbits only way more dangerous and with pack instincts and the intelligence to use weapons to keep you from putting them back in their hutch
Humans are not space orcs.  Humans are the space equivalent of africanized honeybees

Thinking about Ducktales again. More theoratical analyzing. More ranting. More precisely about Ducktales humanity. (Less a biological take, more societal and historical)
I don't remember if there were any monkey or ape characters, but nevertheless evolution in the Ducktales world decided that, nope I don't like apes, it's gonna be primarily birds, ducks specifically who turn human
But it's not only birds, there also mammals, both carnivores (I think more of those?) and herbivores, yet again, birds are still the majority.
So whatever it was that caused the evolution, my take is that it's more birds simply cause "birds" were just already far more wide-spread around the globe due to their natural flying abilities pre evolution. And Ducks, cause, Idk, ducks are everywhere.
Anyways, the "animals" were probably evenly hit by evolution in general, but a lot of other species (lions, tigers, subspecies like pandas) in the wild were bound by territory. Ergo, due to more birds existing all over the globe, more humans in the modern age ended up being part of bird species cause they were more wide-spread in the beginning due to pre-evolution times. Also certain areas having more dangers (stone age, bronce age, I'm not sure how the early ages are called) for humans then others being a reason why some species exist more than others. (Again, human lions or tigers might have not been able to build bigger civilizations in early history due to having animal lions or tigers as dangers) (I know lions and tigers do not live in the same are btw, even if it might sound like that)
Now... Birds are basically the top of society in the Ducktales universe. They are more. They are everywhere. They are much more dominant. And I have thoughts about discrimination and the irony of birds that are "prey" being the majority of Ducktales humanity, but I should not only make a separate post for this, but also really sort my words so this doesn't end up sounding to weird.
Going back to the society: It somehow happened that human animals and animal animals live together. And in a way mostly similar to us. Pets exist. Feeding ducks with bred crumbs is a thing (that scene is why I'm writing this post). And people eat cheese, milk, eggs and meat.
Now, I don't know which is weirder. A human dog having another animal dog as a pet (hello Goofy) or a chicken eating chicken soup? (Huey wanted to give Scrooge chicken soup while Gyro was sitting on his computer and he didn't react. I guess cocked/baked duck/geese/turkey is also being eaten) Does it not count as cannibalism if it's not a conscious human, or do chickens just not eat chicken, pigs no ham and so on?
I am very much aware that this is just a disney show, targeted to kids mostly, and that those characters are all animals because they've always been animals. But I'm going between things like Zoomania and Beastars where the whole humanised animals topic is actually being discussed and also used to cover racsim as a topic, to things like Sing and Kung Fu panda where everyone just simply is an animal cause it's animation marketed to kids. Then we have Ducktales. And well, Bigotry, discrimination and racism isn't the topic of this show, obviously. It's about adventures and familiar relationships and drama. WHICH IS GREAT. No question. But then you have Penumbra being weirded out at conscious ducks feeding non-conscious ducks, and the whole 4th wall break episode in season 3 showing us that at least some people were very much aware of the undiscussed implications a show with only animal people has. Even if it's supposed to be a silly kids show.
Feel free to comment under this and reblog, cause I would really wanna know what others people thoughts about this are and maybe discuss it a little bit.

Just image meowth learning some of the conspiracy theories about him.
Him Arceus? Some sort of desguised legendary Pokémon? Puffffftttt
Although some butterfly effect certainly could be interesting… what if more wild Pokémon got interested in learning to speak or write? Like to tell humans not to destroy their habitat or to not capture them? Some could see how Meowth technically stands as an equal with his human counterparts and become interested
Just food for thought especially since you mentioned that Meowth stayed 5 years in the past and was a key player on historical events. That can cause some serious butterfly effect
Oh he hears them! He, being a cat, tends to find spaces to hide/sleep on lazy days so he's overheard tons of ridiculous theories. His favorite is probably him being a time traveler from a future where pokemon have taken over and humans no longer exist— its only 25% true, the rest he'll break a rib from laughing so hard.
When he gets home and hears of the internet bred theories, that's when he feels a bit lightheaded. There's too many of them and none of them even make much sense!
Oh there's consequences from him staying! Most of the events after the games' events were small, but still important enough to be acknowledged in books and schools all the way to the current year. Maybe Laventon published a Meowth centric book all about the species, many many years before it was supposed to be published, especially by a different author/scientist. Things about Meowth were discovered before they were supposed to be.
I wouldn't really say many pokemon have learned from him and tried learning to talk/write like him, however. Perhaps some pokemon have tried through the years, but not many were successful in becoming fluent in human speak. They got close, but they didn't have the drive, real reason, or wide resources Meowth had.
But the biggest affect Meowth had on the past, and by extension, future was the opinion on Meowth as a species;
Maybe there was an attempt to bring Meowth over to Sinnoh and domesticate them there, but Glameow and Purgly were too aggressive with their territory and killed the Meowth people tried to bring over? But regardless, Meowth became a big figure in Sinnoh, which brought a lot of tourism to Kanto, which made Kanto flourish, so to further capitalize on Meowth's image, Kantonians would come over with their pet Meowth and make profit over that— so now, in modern times, Meowth is a really big craze in Sinnoh, from figures of good luck(the maneki neko) to a whole festival in Jubilife celebrating not just the species, but Meowth himself and his endeavors. So then maybe Dawn would be more enamored by Meowth at the start???
Possibly due to the attention to the pokemon, Meowth is also sought out by pokemon hunters. More people know about the amount of good luck the Kantonian variant brings compared to the Galarian and Alolan. So maybe as a result, Meowth is rarely seen anymore. They're either hiding or so many of them are caught that the number of wild Meowth have gone down. Meowth's influence and historical fame have caused dangerous repercussions to his species.
Or there's an overpopulation of Meowth in Kanto and maybe they were even successfully domesticated in Sinnoh and soon they were bred, released, and overpopulated. They've become somewhat of an invasive species, but they're so celebrated, no one is willing to do anything about it. Oh oh!!!! A Sinnoh variant Meowth maybe???????? An ice type because it's in Snowpoint!
This is actually really fun to think about 👀

Hot Take of the Day: Animal Rights Activists Don't Actually Like or Care About Animals
The more actions and "justifications" i see out of folks who say they stand up for "animal rights" the more convinced I am of this.
First off let's talk about the false pretense of "animal rights" and why actual animal behavioralists tend to oppose the ideas pushed by it.
Let's make it clear right now, advocating for animal rights is not the same as advocatong for animal welfare.
Advocating for animal welfare is advocating for the proper treatment of animals. It's advocating for animals to be in environments that satisfy their biological and physiological needs in a way that gives them a life of minimal suffering.
The idea of "animal rights" inherently anthropomorphiezes animals by presenting animals as having the same needs and desires as humans. A lot of how animal rights advocates try to present their issues has little to no basis in how animals express themselves and what their actual needs and desires are. Some examples:
-"Animals inside of a barn with mud or manure on their bodies and say they are neglected and forced to live in unsanitary conditions"
-The reality is animals don't mind being dirty like we do and for many species being caked in mud or feces is actually beneficial for helping keep them cool/protect themselves from insects or the sun
-"Animals' young being taken away from them is just as traumatic to them as it is to humans"
-The reality: no species of domestic animal has anything remotely similar to the relationship that humans have with their children. Some are very quick to abandon their babies shortly after birth, some will attack or eat their young, and others will kick their kids out of the family the moment they don't need to nurse anymore. Animals do not hold familial relationships like we do and their success as a species often relies on them getting rid of their young asap before they reach sexual maturity or else the end result would be inbreeding.
-"Animals in any kind of service work or labor are being exploited and it's basically the same thing as slavery"
-First of all that take is completely tone deaf and shows how little you know about actual slavery. Second animals do not have a concept of exploitation. That's literally not a thing they have the necessary parts of the brain to understand that idea. Second domestic animals are purpose bred, so much so it is in their genetic makeup to perform the tasks they were bred to do. In other words they will serve those functions whether you want them to or not. That’s why dog breeds like boarder collies will try to herd your kids when they've never headed anything and have always been a housepet. It's ingrained in their biology. For these animals they need some kind of outlet for these instincts to live a happy and engaging life.
-"AI is rape"
-Again tone deaf. AI is not traumatic to animals and is the safest way to breed in most cases. The only way the animals' caregivers even know when to administer AI is when the animal is showing willingness to be bred. Animals are not "forced to be pregnant over and over" they will only be impregnated when it is deemed necessary and unlike how it would be in nature, we won't impregnate animals every breeding season. Even if breeding is the only task they are expected to perform, they given periods of rest to prevent over stressing their bodies with pregnancy after pregnancy.
-"Animals on trailers or in holding pens are afraid and stressed because they know they're about to be slaughtered"
-Travel and new environments are inherently stressful to animals of all types under all sorts of circumstances. It doesn't mean they are in any actual danger or are aware of why they are in a new place.
Animal behavioralists work closely with the people who actually work with animals, especially people who raise livestock because it benefits BOTH the people and the animals. Animals don't provide well when they aren't well taken care of.
And of course they LOVE taking things out of context to try to push their ideas that anyone who has animals for any reason is a sadistic animal abuser. More examples
-Posing a farmer using machinery to help a downed cow get back on her feet as them "taking an exhausted and sick cow to force them into the kill chute"
-owners of carriage horses in cities are required by law to provide evidence that their horses got rested in paddocks outside of the city for at least four months but people pushing the idea that horses are kept in stalls in city buildings 24/7
-posing pigs in birthing/nursing chutes as "having to spend their whole lives in cramped cages" when they are designed for the sows to be able to move in and out of freely
All that being said let's talk about what I've seen advocates of animal rights do and the ideas they've pushed to bring it all home.
-Touching and spraying trailered animals with water (obviously stressing them but claiming to be trying to "help" and "comfort" them)
-Holding up trailers with animals prolonging the stress of travel and preventing them from getting their needs met at their destination
-Stealing animals and killing them
-Throwing rocks at and pepper spraying animals and their handlers
-Literally saying outright that all domestic animals should be killed off
The whole "animal rights" movement is not a legitimate movement for the betterment of the quality of life of domestic animals. It never was and never will be. It's more akin to religious extremism than anything. It's not about helping animals, it's about control. It's about parading around with an ignorant "holier than thou" attitude so you can call everyone around you evil and feel like a hero in your little echo chamber. It's easy to sell to people because the idea of "being a lover of animals" is basically ingrained into the human brain but there's so much ignorance that comes with how animals actually work. All species have their own unique ways of expressing themselves and when that expression is foreign to us it's easy to misread or use it as a way to mislead. And well I guess that's why blogs like mine exist where people like me who understand how our species of interest behaves and can say if what is assumed is a correct assessment or not. So I guess the best I can do is to keep doing me and keep people educated.

Send me   “ Playlist! “    and I’ll give you a list of three songs I associate with our muses’ relationship! / @valour-bound ft leon
Tumblr media
from eden ━ hozier
i feel like this kind of hits on the duality of their relationship in that they both know they're on borrowed time doing what they do, they've both been bred for war more than anything else and i feel like neither of them really feel like they're "good news" to anyone around them, but with each other that kinda falls away because they understand each other on a more visceral level and so the moments they do have are all the more beautiful for it. so despite the fact they know it might not last and it might end up hurting badly, they'll hold on regardless.
➽ Babe / There's something tragic about you / Something so magic about you / Don't you agree? / Babe / There's something lonesome about you / Something so wholesome about you / Get closer to me / No tired sighs, no rolling eyes, no irony / No 'who cares', no vacant stares, no time for me
Honey, you're familiar like my mirror years ago / Idealism sits in prison, chivalry fell on its sword / Innocence died screaming, honey, ask me I should know / I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door
2. i should go ━ levi kreis
kinda speaks for itself, but i definitely feel after leon even gets over his denial that whatever's growing there is deeper than friendship it'll still take a time more before he goes and acts on it, because at that point in his life he feels undeserving of it and chris can definitely do better in his opinion. self-loathing and low self esteem be hitting hard, yfeel.
➽ Here we are / Isn't it familiar / Haven't had someone to talk to / In such a long time / And it's strange / All we have in common / And your company was just the thing I needed tonight / Somehow I feel I should apologize 'cause I'm just a little shaken / By what's going on inside
I should go / Before my will gets any weaker / And my eyes begin to linger / Longer than they should / I should go / Before I lose my sense of reason / And this hour holds more meaning / Than it ever could / I should go
3. achilles, come down ━ gangs of youth
alright a heavy one, but we know during vendetta that leon is very much passively suicidal if not suicidal tout court and has become very disillusioned and hopeless in how his life is going and what his future is looking like. the dynamic for our chris and leon starts when chris reaches out to him after the whole mess with arias to make up for how he acted in colorado to let leon know there is still someone who genuinely worries, who would be there for him, who can understand and console him ( and vice versa eventually ). this song is basically two voices trying to prevent "achilles" from jumping; the outside one, telling life is worth living, that there's people that love him, that there's more to living than just what's right in front and then the inside one, telling him he's worthless, he should end it, no one cares. so it's a bit like a battle and i feel like the message really fits them especially when they're still trying to find ground with each other.
➽ Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, come down / Won't you get up off, get up off the roof? / The self is not so weightless, nor whole and unbroken / Remember the pact of our youth / Where you go, I'm going, so jump and I'm jumping / Since there is no me without you / Soldier on, Achilles, Achilles, come down / Won't you get up off, get up off the roof? ( ... ) Today, of all days, see / How the most dangerous thing is to love / How you will heal and you'll rise above
Achilles, Achilles, Achilles, jump now / You are absent of cause or excuse / So self-indulgent and self-referential / No audience could ever want you / You crave the applause yet hate the attention / Then miss it, your act is a ruse / It is empty, Achilles, so end it all now / It's a pointless resistance for you
Achilles, Achilles, just put down the bottle / Don't listen to what you've consumed / It's chaos, confusion and wholly unworthy / Of feeding and it's wholly untrue / You may feel no purpose nor a point for existing / It's all just conjecture and gloom / And there may not be meaning, so find one and seize it / Do not waste yourself on this roof / Hear those bells ring deep in the soul / Chiming away for a moment / Feel your breath course frankly below / And see life as a worthy opponent

Narrative Role vs Personality
There was something that felt weird to me when I watched the 1st season of the clone wars, I thought I figured it out and now that I've seen a few more seasons and haven't changed my mind I'm gonna post about it and hopefully make some sense in the following ramble.
It feels like there's a bit of conflict between the writers giving the clones a narrative role and making them actual characters. Yes all characters have a role in the narrative that's not the point, the point is that, from the outside, the clones' role in the story is just to be an army. You need bodies to make up an army to show the audience that this a war, and the audience isn't supposed to really invest in them past wanting the good guys to win.
That's not a bad thing, it's normal when you have sci-fi/fantasy armies. That's the role these guys play:
Tumblr media
We love the dramatic charge of the Rohirrim, we take a solemn moment to acknowledge the bodies in the aftermath, and that's it. We mostly feel actively sad for the characters we know, or sometimes background characters who are there for emotional impact. The role of an army in these shows/movies is to look good, die, and win or loose. It's the same kind of role characters in adventure movies like Indian Jones or the Mummy play, those people who get caught by lethal traps. You can expand that into "it's messed up that they're being used as test subjects for booby traps" outside the film but their only role in the narrative is to show that the traps are dangerous. Again, not a bad thing narratively. In a story, someone's gotta show that the 1000-year old knife trap is still sharp somehow and yes the evil scarabs are alive. And sometimes those are also minions or bad guys but it still applies.
I think horror movies do the same thing but it's not my genre so not certain how their deaths work.
Tumblr media
And in aotc and rots, the clones are pretty much pure plot device. They've got a narrative role and they fill it. They're an army, they do the fighting the dying and the killing, we get very little personality out of them. Been a while since I've seen rots so I can't say if they get no characterization, but I'm pretty sure it's VERY low. We know the basics of their background, we don't know them.
And then the clone wars came around and it gave them personality. It gave them characterization. And sure the series seems to be largely focused on the Jedi, but they still took the time to give the clones some character beyond just being bodies to fill the ranks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it's not like you can't kill characters the audience cares about, everyone knows that isn't the case. But if you give characters personality, the audience is more likely to care. If the care, they might be upset that they're dying over and over so easily without much in story mention. And people really latched on to the clones.
It doesn't help that their backstory is kinda fucked up. I have no idea how much of the shit they go through on Kamino and in the wider galaxy in fanfics is canon and how much of it is fan-based (I haven't finished the clone wars series and I'm not quite invested enough to track down the comics right now) but even without that you're talking about millions of people cloned and raised for war by trainers that are at the very least unfriendly, a genetic donor that selected one for a son and does seem to care at all about the rest, and the war they're fighting is entirely engineered. They're made to fight a war and then wiped into blank slates by a bunch of mind-control chips (even if we look at the movies without the show since that was later, there's still plenty of messed up stuff in being bred and raised solely for war). It's messed up enough that people are gonna be interested in that backstory and that might be part of why people latched on to the clones in general instead of only individual troopers though I can't be sure. It's one thing if you've got people who's narrative role is to kill and be killed and look cool while doing it. It's another thing when that's their purpose in the story.
And the clone wars gives us these occasional episodes that show first that some of the clones actively don't want to be here and second that there are some even among the jedi that see them as inferior. Their reactions in the Umbara arc to Krell using numbers instead of names are strong enough that even without them saying something like "we don't like being called by numbers its dehumanizing" that idea still comes across clearly.
Umbara also tells us that they can be ordered to kill their friends, and they will have to comply.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the things the clone wars tells us is that this is a really messed up situation. That the story of the clones is a tragedy. But I don't think it always acts like it.
The thing that was bugging me was Plo Koon's declaration that the troopers mattered to him and Windu taking the time to rescue a trooper and later on Ima-gun Di's last stand with his troopers, juxtaposed with the casualness in the series as a whole with which entire ships are destroyed. And I know, its tricky to talk about this kind of thing when you're making a kids' show and you only have 20-odd minutes on top of that. I'm not really blaming them for treating the troopers the same way you treat an army in any fantasy war story. It's fiction. Explosions on a screen are fun. We all like a badass fight scene. I'm probably not the intended audience for this show anymore and that means my perspective isn't the one the writers are trying to hit.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that it feels a little like the writers gave the clones too much character for their narrative role. And if you as a writer say in-universe that these people's lives matter, sometimes it might feel a bit weird when a ship full of them is blown to pieces and never remarked on again.
I want to end this by acknowledging that I am WAY overanalyzing a kids' show I KNOW so if you're going to criticize this analysis feel free but please criticize about a different point because I recognize the overthinking hell this took like three times as long as I expected to write I have no fucking clue where the time went.

honestly every fucking day i fear for my safety in this shithole country (america). like i need it to get through people's heads that the republican party is PLANNING A FUCKING GENOCIDE right now. a genocide of queer and trans people. like it will not be effective in the slightest at it's goal because being queer or trans is not a biological thing that can be killed or bred out of a population. it's a fucking social thing. like yeah maybe the reported amounts of queer and trans people on the census will go down but that's because we're going to be fucking murdered and the survivors, fearing for their life, will lie on records if they're able to do so like i see so many similarities between nazi germany and modern america and i feel like i'm taking crazy pills because the average person has no clue what i'm talking about. like it's pretty obvious that trump is the equivalent to hitler here, the fucking republicans treat him like a god and the actual fascists and neo-nazis love him to death. but also there are a shit ton of other influential alt-right figures out there specifically advocating for the extermination of queer and trans people in the country. take michael knowles as an obvious example, with his "transgenderism must be eradicated" speech. and there's so much demonization of queer and trans people, trans people specifically, lately honestly i can't help but connect the dots. the nazis spread their antisemitic propaganda by dehumanizing jews and saying they ate babies and did blood libels, making them the target of nazi fear and rage. the nazis told all their followers that jews were dangerous which obviously led people to fear them. and with fear comes violence. even now we're seeing vigilante violence against trans folk before the planned genocide of queer and trans folk detailed in the 2025 project (more info about that at the end of the post), and needless to say there's countless falsehoods spread about trans folk that work to demonize us and incite fear in the republican supporters. take the whole "trans people are groomers and pedos" thing, a dangerous falsehood spread to trigger anger and fear in the populous. they're trying to spread anti-queer and anti-trans propaganda to justify their upcoming genocide of us they've already started. the US is already at stage 8 of genocide, persecution. they're targeting us by taking away our healthcare and making it harder for trans youth and just trans people in general to gain access to gender affirming care. trans people who have legally changed their gender recently and at all on record are actively being targeted. and i assume they will be the group targeted the most during the upcoming genocide (although i hope it doesn't happen the republican party kind of has their foot in the door when it comes to power in the US so i wouldn't be surprised if they're able to carry out their plan) honestly i hope i'm being crazy and hysterical right now. i hope for the love of god that i look like a crazy conspiracist right now. because that would mean we'd be safe. but i'm noticing too many patterns for this to not be just me going crazy. i've heard people say time and time again they're planning a genocide. that we'll be experiencing an active genocide soon if we don't have enough pro-trans pushback in our government. i just need people to do something about it. please if you guys can. because i can't. i'm simply too young. but i know most people viewing this will most likely be able to do something. so please. i don't wanna have to flee. idk if my family could afford it. but i don't wanna fucking live in fear. in fear they'll find me and attempt to kill me. please. project 2025 will be the american republican party's attempt at queer and trans genocide, especially in the US i suggest you read the document if you're able. please if anyone can do anything about this. i just want us to be safe. honestly.

Good morning back at it again with the word dump  ANYWAYS---Yeah I agree with you, Yuu leaving twst to go back home and when they go back they're just so different... If I was a family member of theirs I'd def want to go to twst to punt these guys to the sun, like what the hell did they do to my Yuu??? Then theres also the blot thing... yeah, better to stay for a while to recover before going back since at least there's actually a chance for them to recover kjsdfhjshfksh And the up to interpretation ending is kinda the best ending me thinks for TWST depending on what Yana will do with Yuu since to me it kinda feels like we're leaving Yuu up to their own fate as a character now and that they're no longer our vessel and stuff.
Also this has been bouncing in my head for a while now but like i firmly believe that their were probably similar cases to Yuu's blot condition where a wizard had their core cracked which meant the blot would leak out and into their body causing the same conditions Yuu would be suffering from in this theoretic situation---just a lot less severe than the one Yuu has since they still have cores and stuff. There's no known cure for it since you can't just patch up a core (ortho's situation is different since he's a robot). Also it's a pretty rare condition and stuff so there's little to nothing about the whole shebang and stuff but not really nothing-nothing so there's still a chance for the boys to gather info about the stuff :)))).
On another note though... The boys being so weird and roundabout about their way of expressing affection is cute kjshfjshk the thing about Deuce gifting them w a cauldron full of eggs is actually weirdly in character for him and i can see it happening LMAOAOAOAO but like w the situation of Yuu being sick w blot they're going to have to be more upfront with their affections if they want the point of they care across to Yuu, which would be interesting to see since they've never been upfront or bold w things like that AHAHA
Anyways how are you??? did you eat yet?
YOU'RE SO RIGHT
I honestly think that with Twst being a magical realm there was bound to be an evolutions to make sure that humans don't die from blot, starting with humans having circuits, basically like a second nervous system where their body can process the blot—however they were pretty temporary at the time, especially when considering there were no teachers who could curb huge burst of magic to eradicate a small spider or boar.
Not to mention that blot could corrode or rot the circuitry causing excruciating pain and the like, or complications where one bloodline had too many circuits and another had too little. The perfect balance was achieved when cores were implemented the same way candles posed an unmitigated risk to wood houses before the light bulb.
Cores weren't set in stone the same way circuits were—yes circuits were powerful when you considered what Fae, Beastmen, and Humans were facing—especially Merfolk but they were dangerous, primitive even, the only race that hasn't had that Magic Circuit gene bred out yet are Fae since they find no need to have kids if they'll be living their best lives until the end of time....
Cores are able to develop with the user, some might be more powerful than others depending on the bloodline (if your family were hunters your core was tailored to that) you could strengthen your core through learning how to use it efficiently and effectively without accumulating too much blot.
Cores are basically the Edison's incandescent light bulb. And Yuu lacking one while being saturated in magic is a dangerous thing that should've been considered. Hell, none of the teachers were like "wait a minute, a magicless student in a magicians school, let's check up on them"
Like despite Vargas' looks and his base he actually cares for his students (ignore Vargas Camp) when the chips are down. Crewel seems to keep a sharp eye on the students. Even Crowley who has to scrounge up the lint he has, rub it against the carpet of his mind to generate neuron activity would notice his work horse isn't up to par.
Allowing Yuu to roam around with so much as an "r u ok?" Is actually so sick but kinda in character when you consider the fact that they let this magicless person handle Overblots. They aren't that active in the charas lives and you see that.
Whole Lotta disconnect

If I'm reading the lemon frost thing correctly, it's not just that they've been inbred too much to achieve a certain look and also aquired cancer, but that the whole reason they "look cool" is because they have so much skin cancer it makes them shiny. Is that right? I feel like it's worth differentiating cases of "the desired aesthetic trait IS the health problem" (eg spider morph, Scottish folds) from cases where it might theoretically be possible to seperate the two and get a healthy version.
THOUGH as a follow up to the lemon frost cancer ask, I think it's still pretty ethically questionable to breed multiple generations of animals with debilitating health issues on the off-chance you can produce a healthy animal, just to maintain an aesthetic. But I think in cases where the issues are definitely inseparable, it's important to emphasize that point as strongly as possible, so people aren't even tempted to try.
Yep, you’ve got the feel of it.  The cancer in particular is iridophoromas---- the pigment cells called iridophores are growing out of control.  Now this is where things get REALLY interesting, because leopard geckos don’t naturally HAVE this particular pigment cells.  They’re unique to the lemon frost morph; they are what makes the morph what it is.  Since leopard geckos don’t naturally have this pigment cell, they have no way of controlling its growth when it suddenly did pop up.
Hence why this particular morph is literally full of cancer and why it’s inseparable from the morph.
Now, inbreeding the lemon frost morph adds some new issues on top of this particular type of cancer.  When you breed LFxLF (called a super lemon frost), you usually end up with strange pug-noses and eye deformities.  I’m not sure what the exact genetics are behind that; it can’t just be the inbreeding because most morphs have had more intense inbreeding than the few generations of LFs.
It’s definitely important to separate “this morph is inherently dangerous” and “this morph has faults that can be bred out”.  White and yellows are good examples of “potentially problematic, but good breeding can---and largely has--- sort it out”.
