Look, I'm not against Skullyle in any way but I can't help but view them as the most found family coded siblings I have ever seen. Their interactions remind me so strongly of a bickering brother and sister who complain at each other constantly but will also do anything for them. Lucy has 6 sisters she's not particularly close to, she deserves an undead brother to take the piss out of.

Excuse me while I get emotional for awhile! 😭 While all the craziness of the Starfall Islands is going on, Amy, Knuckles and Tails all have epiphany moments after seeing the Kocos' memories. They all want to go out on their own, see the world and follow their own dreams. And Sonic supports them 100%. It connects to the comics as well (obviously since Ian Flynn wrote both).
It's Sonic's philosophy to be free and move forward, and that's what the others are doing. Amy wants to spread love and help others, Knuckles finally decides to take the time to explore the world rather than just staying on Angel Island, and Tails wants to grow as his own hero. They're moving forward, and Sonic wants to them to see it through.
This is what makes him being corrupted so much more painful.
This isn't just about saving his friends anymore. It's so they can live their dreams. Having their freedom, even if it costs Sonic his own.😢

Okay we all agree Boom! Shadow could've been characterized better in almost every way (although his absolutely lame reasons for beating up Sonic were kind of hilarious). But I think the most objectively hilarious thing they should've done was just to fully embrace the "Shadow is technically Eggman's uncle" thing. Like Eggman already has his whole dysfunctional robot family going on in that show, and then just throw Shadow in for good measure.
Eggman: (about to do something stupid)
Shadow: As your uncle, I order you to stop
Eggman: But Shadoooooooow...
Shadow: Don't whine at me, Doctor
Eggman: Mom-Bot! Tell Shadow to let me blow up the village!
Mom-Bot: Listen to your uncle, young man!
Shadow: (gives him "I told you so" look)
Or just imagine Sonic busting into the lair and finding Eggman and Shadow chilling having brunch together. Or Shadow (grumpily) cheering Eggman on in his latest scheme like a dad at a sports game

Something about starting The Bear for SydneyxCarmy, and finishing it for Richie and Carmy.
The conversation about purpose. Richie asks if Carmy ever thinks about purpose and responds, "I love you but I don't have time for this." He looks at him for about 2 seconds and decides whatever it is, he has time for it. Gets a chair, and sits down. And Richie, who's never felt like he belonged anywhere, has someone who loves him enough to make a spot for him. Richie's scared they're all gonna wake up one day, and see him the same way he sees himself and drop him, but surprise surprise, Carmy already sees through all the bs and he still loves him and he still wants him CAUSE THEY'RE FAMILY. Like what am I supposed to do with that?
The "no one's laughing" comment.
Carmy yells horrible things at him through the walk-in door, tells him he's a loser, tells him he hates him and he should have cut him out, brings his daughter into it, and Richie just responds with "I love you" over and over again. LIKE COME ON YOU KNOW I WAS CRYING
Richie used to blow up when people brought his daughter into conversations like that i.e., the stabbing incident. But he knows Carmy, and he knows he pushes people away when they get too close, he knows Carmy doesn't feel like he doesn't deserve to have anything good happen to him, he knows he's waiting for the shoe to drop. I just love the strength that he has to stand there and listen to that and just respond with "I love you." and keep repeating it. He's not trying to reason with him, and he doesn't get upset, he knows Carmy doesn't mean a thing he says in that walk-in, and he's not gonna let Carmy push him away.

Angus was sitting in the Director's office, on one of the seats across her desk, helping the reclaimer crew navigate the Millers’ rapidly crystalizing lab.
“Guys, is something wrong? I can't hear you anymore.”
It seemed yet another one of Lucas’s experiments was proving more trouble than it was worth. From the crackling, static-ridden other end, it seemed like they had angered a robot that was meant to be a learning tool for children — only the “artificial intelligence” had obviously gotten out of control. Lucretia could not believe this was the same man she had trusted with the safety of this entire world. With the safety of her family.
“I think there's something wrong with the stones!”
The line went quiet.
“Sirs?” Angus spoke into the stone of farspeech as he looked up at her, worry raw in his eyes the way only a kid’s can show.
Lucretia reached over the desk and took the stone from his hands, trying to channel brand new arcane power into it. “Boys? Is everything alright?”
