waiting for a pizza and the twins game to start (and hopefully beat the storm) we're one (1) win away from clinching our post-season spot, and we won't immediately have to play the yankees.
i'm a little worried, they also won't have home field advantage at any point, which is always a Concern.
but i have tickets for tomorrow's game! I'm hoping I'll be able to buy a homer hanky.
some other stuff:
-out of town friends were supposed to come visit this weekend. then one got exposed to Covid. I'm so sad. We're tentatively rescheduled for May.
-I have concerns about all the candidates for my new supervisor. Real concerns.
-otherwise work is fine, it's a few weeks before my teaching sessions start. my friend starts October 2!
-got my covid booster (and flu shot) Tuesday. The next day felt like a hangover, but my arm doesn't even hurt now
-Taskmaster is back. it's gonna be a good good good season.
-Grandpa called me the other night. He wanted me to watch Datta tomorrow. I've been very much in denial about my loveliest grandmother's decline. And him calling, asking for a babysitter has kinda fucked me up. Apparently she can't even follow a football game anymore, not really. And she loves the Vikings more than I love the Twins. I'm heartbroken, and I don't have therapy for another three weeks.
-My m*a*s*h fic is a fun diversion. I rewatched Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, which I remembered two minutes in was not Cary Grant's best work (to say nothing of how their Black housekeeper is treated and then exploited. Ah, America). Might watch That Touch of Mink later to cheer myself up, even if the vibes are opposite. Doris Day is my hero in that flick. Have you ever heard of Upper Sandusky?
-speaking of writing, I don't think I've ever told you but Grandpa has had a western in his head for literal ages, and last year I bought him a notebook, after secretly recording him telling me all about it. "It's like a Zane Gray book, do you know who that is?" I have two grandfathers who adore westerns, of course I know who that is. Anyway, when I bought him the notebook, I printed a bunch of railroad maps for him, and some other relevant research I thought he might need. He says he's going to try and write it this winter while he's taking care of Datta. I hope he does. I hate westerns, but if he asks me to read it, I will.
Going to throw my whole heart into the post season to distract myself. I will immediately have my heart broken, but I'm with my boys of summer until the bitter end.
