will and lucas are a great example of what actual best friends look like. they’re known each other almost as long as they’ve known mike, lucas was also super determined to find will in s1, will has chosen lucas’ side over mike’s during an argument (which is rare), will and lucas make fun of people together, lucas was shown to actually apologize to will after the fight at mike’s house, etc.

they’re actually best friends. that’s what typical best friends are like.

whatever mike and will are transcends just being best friends and honestly goes beyond what every other romance in st has. their scenes are always treated with such care, it’s been building for the ENTIRE SHOW, the majority of the cali plot line was just expanding on mike and will’s relationship with some plot sprinkled in, they demonstrate mike and will’s ability to understand each other in a way no other couple has (the only thing they don’t understand about each other is romantic stuff. even in s4, will knows exactly what mike is mad about at the rink, mike knows exactly how to apologize to will, they’re in sync when they’re annoyed at stuff), and it seems pretty likely that their love story is going to be heavily involved in whatever ends up defeating the UD just like how it was important in s2.

idk what they are but it goes so far beyond what typical friendship and romance is in ST. they are in a whole different league than the other characters.
