Soz idk where else to say this so I’m saying it to you: I just realized, I think the reason TRAs in particular are so dismissive of feminism and oppressive sexism, instead only focusing on choice feminism, is bc if we actually acknowledged how oppressed females are, then they’d be forced to realize how fucked up it is to “identify” as us.
Example: They know transracial is bad, they know it’s bad to identify as a race you aren’t, because you can’t identify into a marginalized group like that when you’re not part of it! Obviously!
But if that’s true, what about women? Sexism is just as bad as racism, just as systemic and violent. Why is it ok for the oppressor group to not only identify as a marginalized sex group they’re not a part of, but then go on to speak over said marginalized group and destroy their spaces and wish death and rape on them for being upset by their oppressors “identifying” as them? Racial dysphoria is a thing too, I know people who have racial dysphoria, yet they know clearly that it’s offensive to “transition” into a group they don’t belong to, they work through their dysphoria in other ways instead.
so what’s the difference? Like really? What is the difference? The answer is there isn’t one. No one can think of a solid reason why one is ok and the other isn’t. Race and gender are both social constructs, but are based on biological and genetic traits. Race and gender both come with inherent trauma, including generational trauma. Race and gender both have history and family ties attached to them. Both are connected to lineage. What’s the difference?!
since no one can answer this, libfems will either get completely stuck and just ignore it, or they will end up at one of 2 stops. Those being that either “transracial” is valid, or that women aren’t really THAT oppressed. Usually these yt folk know better than to go for the former, so that leaves the latter. The reality of systemic sex based oppression defeats their entire ideology. I should know, I’m 20, I was trans identified for 10 years, grew up in the community, and just thinking about this critically for 3 fucking seconds made me do a complete 180 in a week. A. Week.
(I’m poc though, I get yt trans don’t really gaf bout us unless we’re useful as o mystical kweer savages who had 3000 genders. For those of you who don’t understand racism, think about transabled or something like dat. It’s not quite the same, but you get it. Disability is really just a social construct assigned to a real phenomena! Now imagine a group of “transautistic” people getting an autism support centre defunded, spraypainting “kill all trans-autistic exclusionary disabled rights activists” on the windows, and nailing dead rats to the doors, because they weren’t assisting “trans-autistic” people. You get it?)
Leaving yall on this. If you support dylan mulvaney then u should also support oli london, because they’re the same.
my fucking god anonita
you neednt EVER apologize for blessing my askbox like this holy shit
i dont think i have anything to add except that you are so fucking right, you summed it up PERFECTLY
i started reading this ask while laying down and found myself sitting up by the end of it
im so happy knowing an intelligent woman like you is following me, and im so fucking proud of you

i feel like we as a fandom tend to either over uwuify klapollo or over stoicify them and this is by no means a real character analysis or genuine conversation because it is 4am for me and i’m not very good at articulating myself i don’t actually care that much i’m in fandom spaces i’m used to mischaracterising bullshit but
why does it seem to be the only options are “apollo is an actual child and klavier is sexy and suave” or “apollo doesn’t experience emotions and klavier is a cringefail babygirl”. like genuinely can they not both be people.
i feel like a lot of the infantilisng apollo stuff is partially the usual fandom short man = yaoi bottom shit but i’m not gonna sit here and pretend it isn’t also bc of the transmasc apollo headcanon. like it can’t be a coincidence that the most infantilised grown man in the game is also the one that’s most widely headcanoned as ftm. like it feels like a lot of it is your typical uwu short trans uke baby x big strong suave tall hot cis seme and i’m used to that but man it sucks to see people making weird shit about Flustered Virgin apollo getting his first ever kiss from Playboy klavier and. y’all know he’s 25 right? not 15?
there’s also the other side of things where people make klavier into this cringefail babygirl boyfailure who’s hopelessly in love with apollo and spends every waking moment thinking about apollo and can’t do anything without relating it to apollo and apollo just fucking does not like him. and that’s almost worse because at least the first kind of mischaracterisation still feels like a ship. why are we pretending apollo doesn’t care about klavier. he doesn’t like his boy band music but it’s not personal. he still likes klavier.
and then there’s the ones who take one half of the mischaracterising and applies it to both characters. apollo is an uwu baby and klavier is a soyboy and they can’t spend a second apart because they’re so in love. OR they’re both robots who might as well not even be dating with how little they speak to each other.
y’all know you can make them act normal, right? they can be in love with each other and silly about it and also be serious characters? apollo is a dork ass who cracks jokes and is bitchy but he’s also a genuinely smart guy like he’s a lawyer he’s a politician he’s helping rebuild a whole country’s legal system from the ground up and he’s still a bitch and a loser. klavier is ALSO a bitch and a loser and a smart guy. he’s kind, but he’s not a wimp. he’s bitchy but he’s not insufferable. he’s passionate about music and law and everything he talks about. and he says corny shit and openly flirts with apollo but he’s also a damn good prosecutor and id argue he’s the only one who actually understands his job without the defense having to Fix Him tm. and they can both love each other and be all these things.
for a lot of y’all there’s only two options: klavier has trauma (excruciating) (all encompassing) or klavier is silly :3. and like. he can do both. you can acknowledge his trauma and also acknowledge he’s a dumbass who air guitars during court. human beings are multifaceted and fictional characters should reflect that. you gotta make the people you’re writing feel like people yes even the japanese visual novel people.
back to the living each other thing. klavier can openly flirt with apollo and also actually like him. apollo can ignore klavier’s first flirts and still actually like him. maybe he doesn’t wanna get it with the brother of his murderous boss while investigating a crime scene i think that’s reasonable of him. but he also clearly likes and cares about klavier as a person (“i have to pull the darkness out of him” or whatever he says) so just because he didn’t immediately throw himself at klavier the second he hit him with the never felt this way with a man doesn’t mean he’s annoyed by klavier’s flirting it just means it wasn’t the right time. apollo can hate the gavineers shitty music and still love the man who sung it. he can think klavier’s office is ugly and still love him. i don’t love every single thing about the people i love but i still love them. if my qpp made a dog shit song i hated i would tell him bc he and i understand each other.

I love hearing about queer headcanons so I'll probably end up asking about all of them, but how about starting with Sumeru?
(ask in reference to this post)
YES I can do a few sumeru characters to start (heres Wanderer, Cynonari, Collei, and Nahida)
(there’s accidently aroace headcanons in 3/4 of them OOOPS)
Wanderer: talked about his gender (trans guy) here, sexuality wise I see him as gay and probably mostly t4t. I also have a vision where Wanderer has the same relationship with aro + aceness as Collei but in sort of opposite directions. So my idea is Wanderer feels a lot of alienation & detachment regarding romance & sex & shares a lot of similar experiences to aro and/or ace people, but would choose to not ID as either label because after some time he concludes his relationship with both kinds of attraction is very influenced by trauma, and it would be more healthy for him personally to work on building a positive relationship with romantic + sexual attraction since he does actually experience it. So he sits on a plane of not identifying as aro or ace but like he gets it
Collei: Collei on the other hand, in contrast to Wanderer, finds aro + ace labels really helpful for understanding herself, even if she also believes in her relationship with both kinds of attraction overlapping a lot with trauma. Because for her she genuinely just doesn’t really feel she experiences either attraction and that’s sort of a comfortable default/conclusion for her. Specifically I’d give her the demi aro and asexual labels…in my head this goes with my Tighnari & Cyno headcanons where both of them are in an aroace relationship and give her really good advice/feedback on her feelings that make her feel more able to be confident about how she feels regarding attraction. Along with that I think she’s sort of questioning sexuality labels but would refer to herself as sapphic as a shorthand explanation. Gender wise I have a few different headcanons in mind…either transfem, demigirl, or bigender/genderfluid maybe? I see her as having multiple ideas of what sort of gender presentation she wants and going between them
Tighnari + Cyno: Okay so here I need to pitch my demi-aroace Cynonari vision. I think both Cyno and Tighnari would view their own queerness in ways pretty similar to each other, and one facet of this is where they fall on the aroace spectrum. I think it aligns perfectly where they’re both like, yeah I have no interest in romance or relationships the way people usually engage with them but you’re the only one who gets the exact way I feel about it + we get along well so honestly I’m down to be in our own form of a relationship with you specifically. I don’t think they really do labels with a lot of things: both of them are trans + non binary in one way or another, and both use gay/queer as identifying terms, but don’t have a lot of specifications beyond using umbrella labels really. They’re just chilling. As established this ends up being a good fit for their dynamic with Collei bc I think it gives her a lot more confidence about navigating her own queerness seeing Cynonari just kind of hang out and do their own thing
Nahida: she’s baby and does not strike me as someone who is going to think about romance or sexuality until she’s a lot older. I think if you asked Nahida to explain her gender to you she would probably employ a lot of very confusing metaphors you do not understand, all in an attempt to articulate what I’d write as a pretty shared experience between all the Archons in how they view gender. They seem to like…view themselves as genderless but sometimes opting into gender if they feel like it—and tend to intuitively relate it to their element. Which means the most you get from Nahida’s metaphors is she’s telling you her gender is plant and you do not get it but it doesn’t seem wrong so what can you do. I also have this additional thought I think is funny about Wanderer and Nahida having very deep philosophical discussions about immortal gender at 3 in the morning. In the context of the English language at least I think we need to tell Nahida about neopronouns I think she’d be a fan. So in summary she’s kind of baby and is not giving this stuff much thought right now but also being a god in my gender impact dimension kind of inherently makes you ponder the orb (gender)

You know that post that’s like “someone can call you ‘bitch’/’fag’ in a way that makes you feel so loved and affirmed, but no slur will hold as much malice as someone with homophobic beliefs saying ‘those people’ in a certain way (often polite and technically correct manner)? That’s how it feels reading how some of the posts on here use “Men”, often before spouting something with subtle underlying transmisogynstic/misandrist (or even outright patriarchal), not blinking twice while saying some shit to queer/trans men/men of color.
It’s not that I disagree with most of their points, I’ve been horribly traumatized and abused my many men and all marginalized men regularly deal with shitty men, both in and out of their community, and have a number of thoughts on the Patriarchy and all the fucked up, insidious ways it gets to you and creates the horrible parts of our society and culture that create traumas and abuse. I regularly spend a lot of day standing up to shitty men for being shitty using all the male-passing privilege I can muster (I still pass pretty well as a ‘cishet’ man). But the way a lot of these posts are phrased often feels... manipulative. Men and women are people, and the number one thing transitioning and being friends with more people opposite my assigned gender has taught me is that human behavior and emotions get ascribed to ‘femininity’ and ‘masculinity’ when they’re just normal emotions we all have. Violence and aggression and cruelty aren’t “masculine”, wisdom and compassion and empathy aren’t “feminine”, even if these things are associated with them because of gender roles and how the Patriarchy has shaped the society around us.
And the fact that people regularly face opposition or get run out of queer groups for being ‘cishet men’ by afab people and (usually cis) women who don’t want to engage with any of our queerness or the fact that we’re feminine (honestly often due to still lingering trauma which makes them distrustful of other people who remind them of their abusers and a lack of actual good mascs in their life who, I get it, I was afraid of men and masculinity for a long time too and had a friend group of mostly women, but it wasn’t healthy and my world is much better for trying to reach out and be close with some who seemed to be kindhearted and genuine, and eventually not be so afraid of other normal people you see on the street)... I’ve probably been discouraged to express myself and my femininity (you know, anti-patriarchal things for a man to do) by women and femmes just as much as I have by men (not mascs, they Get It, and trans men often are adamantly against this behavior but get drowned out or bullied into staying quiet). And it’s so much worse if you’re a masc/enby/transfemme of color, who are demonized for existing and held to impossible beauty standards even by those in the community who are supposed to be ‘on their side’ (and who still hold them to being on their own side). And it’s not like I haven’t been groomed, sexually abused, manipulated, and physically/emotionally abused by women throughout my life, either.
The people who run my state are trying to make crossdressing a sex crime. I cannot go out dressed femininely without risking being queer bashed or made an example of. This is not abnormal in this country, and if you live in a world where men are encouraged to express gender nonconformity and femininity and androgyny is accepted, I hate to burst your bubble but you live in a socially progressive part of this country, and the rest of us get at best bullied relentlessly for any ‘femininity’ from all sides around us.

Honestly any argument I’ve seen against unconventional pronouns (it/neos) falls completely apart if you actually think about it, because it’s always so gross and just reusing transphobia without a thought
“I just use their name instead of pronouns” So like my transphobic coworkers that were uncomfortable calling me a he? (And failed constantly)
“You’re just self harming demanding everyone dehumanize you!” You mean like how T//ERFs consider ftm transition to be self harm? You both need to drop your savior complex
“It’s demeaning!” Calling people by their pronouns is demeaning now??????
“It’s a kink! I don’t consent to participate!” Okay I don’t know why I have to point this out, but T//ERFs think trans people (mostly trans women) go by their pronouns as a kink. Why are you using the same argument?????
“They’re just doing this because of trauma!” Again, you sound like a T//ERF. You’re super fucking presumptuous. You don’t know for sure why a person uses their pronouns unless they tell you.
And all the other ways y’all like to make it about yourselves. Either shape up and get over yourself or don’t talk about people that you just CAN’T respect the pronouns of. Stop infantilizing them and acting like you know better than a trans person what’s good for them in regards to their pronouns.

People being chronically online(which is a term I don’t use lightly) again so let me spell it out;
YOU CANNOT BE A SYSTEM WITHOUT TRAUMA! YOU CAN HAVE TRAUMA FROM JUST ABOUT ANYTHING! The ONLY way you can be a system is if you have DID/OSDD, and guess what? They’re both TRAUMA DISORDERS, which means you literally CANNOT be a system without trauma. I’m not saying go digging through your mind or whatever to find it, I’m saying you either admit you have trauma or that you’re just lying and want to roleplay. If you want to roleplay THAT badly go to a roleplay server, not spread blatant misinfo about a serious disorder.
And another topic; the term “sysmed” is SO FUCKING OFFENSIVE!! You are comparing people who listen to common sense and call you all out on ur bs to transmeds who literally HATECRIME trans people. You’re fucking VILE for even thinking that’s comparable.
-sincerely, a system with common sense, The Hearts and Darts sys

I don’t think I’ve ever really uploaded the very specific version of Yakou I had in my mind since like July, so, here it goes. ✨
Tumblr media
✨ Yakou Furio Headcannons Two ; Electric Boogaloo !! ✨
( This is going to include both the Rain Code era of Yakou, and my little spinoff AUs / Devil’s Deal and Project Ninjin 💕 )
( CW ; Drug Usage !! Mental Health !! Trauma !! )
✨ Rain Code Era !! ✨
✨ Yakou does actually have an apartment in Kanai Ward, but he doesn’t really go back there too often. He and his wife both lived there, so being in a place that has practically been untouched since her death really stirs up a lot of sad feelings, so he avoids it as best as he can. He promises that one day he’ll clean it up and move back, but it never ends well when he’s there by himself for too long.
✨ He’s the youngest of three siblings ( and also the tallest ) !! He’s also the only one that lives in Kanai Ward. His mom moved across the world to her hometown, and his siblings live in various places around the world. He’s always wanted to visit his mom, but given the travel restrictions in Kanai Ward, it’s near to impossible to get out of there.
✨ He owned rabbits growing up !! He has a keepsake of rabbit feet in his desk somewhere, from all the previous rabbits he owned. He would gladly have another pet, but it doesn’t feel right to have a larger animal that needs to go outside on the submarine, and he barely has enough money to take care of himself, much less another living thing.
✨ Literally the worst smoker’s cough, also really bad sleep apnea. No, he’s not going to a doctor for it. Lots of waking up in the middle of the night to cough and clear his throat. Yakou doesn’t really get restful sleep, but he’s kind of used to it at this point. It’s part of the reason why he sleeps in so late.
✨ Has always loved the rain, he’s one of the few people that doesn’t get tired of it raining in Kanai Ward, still jumps in rain puddles when he passes by them. :))
✨ Has super bad eating habits, and rarely ever eats unless he feels like he’s starving.
✨ He’s pretty lanky, tends to trip over his own limbs. His body is soft, and he’s not very toned, especially in his hips and stomach. He definitely has muscle in his arms, chest, and shoulders, but he tends to get sore easily, and doesn’t really want to do lots of heavy lifting. He hasn’t really needs to for years.
✨ He’s probably good enough to protect himself at self defense, he can walk away from a fight, but he does get pretty banged and bruised up.
✨ He does actually need glasses, but the ones he’s wearing aren’t prescription, they’re just his late wife!s regular old sunglasses, so he tends to squint. Don’t call him out on it though, he’ll deny he needs them until the day he dies.
✨ Does not take care of himself medically speaking either, he will avoid going to the doctor at all costs, even if he’s sick. Fortunately for him, he has a rather good immune system, so it’s rare for him to get sick, but he does have unmanaged and overlooked medical conditions.
✨ Has four tattoo pieces, two half sleeves on his upper arms of flowers, his signature chest and stomach tattoo, and one on the back to match the front !!
✨ Main choice in pajamas is his suit pants, he hasn’t gone back to his apartment for any, and doesn’t really set aside money to buy more.
✨ I’ve personally always seen Yakou as cisgender ( though I definitely experiment with Trans! Yakou and love the idea of that ), and he is closeted biromantic / bisexual, disaster bi energy. He definitely tries to be as supportive of queer people as he can, but admittedly, being an older queer person, he’s a bit out of the loop on some things.
✨ I headcannon Yakou being forty - one at the time of Rain Code !! Has grey hairs for sure, though he doesn’t feel like he’s aged much since his late thirties. Doesn’t really have any sort of wrinkles yet.
( Now We’ve Reached Lop AU Territory !! )
✨ Devil’s Deal Era !! ✨
✨ Yakou is so mentally ill and unwell. Much more hardened than Rain Code! Yakou for sure.
✨ The OG! Yakou, human Yakou, non - homunculus Yakou !!
✨ Definitely gotten much better at self defense, though due to untreated trauma among other things, his fuse is much shorter. He’s bordering on paranoid at this point, and knows that people are out to get him, so he’s quick to react when he’s anxious or cornered.
✨ Unfortunately took up a lot of drugs during this era, it really adds to his paranoia and temperament, as well as his overall health. Also does a lot of chain smoking, it’s more of a coping mechanism at this point.
✨ Avoids doctors and hospitals like the plague, he genuinely will do whatever it takes to not have to go to the hospital, and really gets into home remedies and such to try and clear up any sicknesses. Keeps a first aid kit in his car to take care of injuries, and has definitely made splints for his fingers and even his leg at one point.
✨ Gets a few scars, ranging from one across his nose, one on his jawline, a few on his torso, a couple on his arms and legs, and a rune scar on his neck ( due to making a deal with the devil ).
✨ His sunglasses end up getting broken, and he doesn’t stop wearing them. It’s a reminder to keep going in the situation that he’s in, even though the cracks in the lenses obscure his vision, and by the end of Devil’s Deal, he’s just wearing the frames, because the lenses get busted out. It’s a comfort item to him.
✨ One of the few survivors of the Blank Week Mystery, he ended up escaping with a few others, and they live in an apartment complex together for awhile, until he makes a deal with the devil. Admittedly, he wasn’t the most badass survivor, and partially thanks dumb luck for making it out alive. It wasn’t really lots of fighting on his way out, more so just keeping quiet and knowing when to time his movements.
✨ Was a bartender again for awhile, and genuinely enjoyed his job this time around, especially after surviving what he did and going through the things he went through.
✨ Definitely exhibits symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, paranoia, and substance abuse disorder.
✨ He becomes much thinner and definitely more dehydrated after awhile, his skin sticks to his bones and muscle, making him seem a little more toned if you don’t look close enough. Though, upon further examination, you can definitely tell he’s extremely unhealthy, with his hands showing it the most, due to his fingernails being unhealthy and the inability to find the veins in his hands and arms, and his breathing problems being much worse.
✨ Honestly so much more grouchy than the Yakou we know, especially nearing the end of this arc, but he’s just having a tough time in general throughout this entire arc.
✨ Project Ninjin Era !! ✨
✨ He’s now reached the age of 42, yippee !!
✨ Still struggling with mental illness, but has built up a wall, so while he’s definitely still very aloof, he still manages to have somewhat genuine interactions with people, especially Yui, but you can definitely tell that he’s trying to keep himself emotionally distanced from many people.
✨ This is the first time in years he’s had a comfortable home to sleep in, though he finds it almost too comfortable, too girly, too soft. But yeah, the image of Yakou sleeping in Yui’s office / guest bedroom, surrounded by all these frilly throw pillows, heaps of blankets, and stuffed bunnies is hysterical.
✨ Finally gets actual glasses !! He keeps the same frame shape, but he now has glasses that fit his head better and actually feel comfortable to wear, rather than digging into his head and nose. He ends up getting the transitional lenses too, so they get darker in the sunlight, but lighter when not in the light.
✨ Actually gets a lighter wardrobe with more breathable fabrics and such, especially since Ninjin Meadows is much warmer than Kanai Ward, and now has actual pajamas that consists of either old thrifted band tees or regular baggy shirts with flannel pants or his boxers.
✨ Starts going to the doctor at the constant insistence of Yui, eventually gets referred to a therapist for his mental health, as well as a primary care doctor, where he learns that he actually does struggle with sleep apnea, COPD, and one of his knees had healed incorrectly, so now he is encouraged to wear a knee brace / wrap to help support it due to the muscle and bone damage.
✨ Still has a complicated relationship with food, because he didn’t really eat unless he had to before coming to Ninjin Meadows, so his cues on when he’s hungry isn’t something he really picks up on anymore, but Yui definitely makes sure he eats at least two meals a day.
✨ You can definitely tell that he gets healthier during this arc, he’s more capable with helping Yui out with heavy lifting and builds back his upper body muscle ( especially in his arms, shoulders, and chest ). He also mentions that it feels like he’s gaining weight back, and while he’s initially upset about it, he eventually embraces it, getting somewhat of a a dad bod.
✨ Really shows off his skills in taking care of rabbits during this arc !!
✨ Stops smoking cigarettes, but has definitely never given up on smoking weed.
✨ Eventually gets a CPAP machine so he can sleep better.
✨ If anything, living with Yui, he has a more comfortable place to stay and someone actively encouraging him to take better care of himself, and while he’s extremely reluctant to do so, vehemently rejecting any kindness for a little bit; slowly, but surely, Yakou starts to get better again, and learn how to cope with his trauma, as well as take care of himself. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not still a grouch like in Devil’s Deal, since he still very much is much more grumpy than in Rain Code, but now he’s learning how to care for himself in ways he never did before. 💕

So I’m watching The Power. And it is good. It actually is. But biology and sex based differences are absolutely INTEGRAL to the plot and yet they keep trying to add in gender ideology.
They have an entire scene where a male doctor is astounded that anyone would think it’s moral to use hormone blockers, which he refers to as chemical castration, on girls to stop them from going through puberty and so developing their electrical powers. And the women pressuring him to do it then lists all of the reasons why a girl/woman might want the organ that causes it removed, and those reasons sound EXACTLY like the reasons girls begin identifying as trans during puberty. And then she offhandedly mentions that he could make a shed load of money off the patent by preying on the insecurities she’s just mentioned.
That scene is really pertinent and they seem to have had an actual doctor involved in the scripting. It’s elsewhere that they fail.
First, there’s a nunnery where traumatised girls escape to. Apparently the nuns are rebellious because they supported gay rights back in the day. This is revealed to us by a particular nun who is pretty tall, broad and fat, and speaks with a falsetto … and found acceptance with the nuns who accepted him as a woman, unlike his family. The nuns are perfectly comfortable having him around traumatised teenage girls. And the girls are comfortable being around him, even when they’re detailing their traumas.
And then there’s a boy, who is very obviously male, who says ‘I’m intersex. I was born with both, but I had surgery as a baby and I identify as a guy’. And he also has the electrical ability as a result of his condition. This isn’t how DSDs work!? You aren’t ‘born with both’ and you are still either male or female!? And someone with such a condition is unlikely to be so ignorant about it - especially if it was significant enough to require surgery as a baby. They obviously didn’t speak to any DSD groups when writing his character.

It’s rambling about rare pairs O’clock bitches so buckle in!!
Today we have Mondo X Byakuya because not enough love is given to this ship!! Granted, Naegami and Ishimondo will forever own my heart but Mondo and Byakuya definitely have the potential for some great interactions.
To preface this, I’ve only finished the first danganronpa game and I’m only onto the 3rd trial in the second game. Please don’t give me spoilers for anything beyond that or any other type of danganronpa content. All these points are gonna be based off of the first game and there will be spoilers for that game so warnings for that
For these headcanon’s, just assume I’m talking about a non-despair au
Ok, in terms of tropes, right off the bat we’ve got the rebel x prep kinda dynamic which I love. It’s also just two assholes in love which honestly is a very fun trope when done right. Also enemies to lovers, which is best trope
Would they argue a lot? Probably. I don’t see this being a relationship that would last forever. HOWEVER, I do think they’d have a good impact on each other in the time they are together. We all know Mondo is very insecure about his masculinity meanwhile Byakuya at least seems to be more comfortable with things seen as typically “feminine.” He has his clothes be professionally made and takes great care in his appearance and (ignoring the whole Chihiro situation), he states several times that he doesn’t want to touch a dead body, something the other characters in the game seem to consider a more “masculine” trait, calling it weird that Kyoko is so comfortable touching dead bodies while being a girl, among other things (these gender roles are so weird, bro😅). So I think Byakuya would be able to help Mondo with seeing a new side to masculinity and being a man that isn’t just violence, yelling or having to asset physical strength. After all, Byakuya is more in touch with what is stereotypically seen as “feminine” traits and he’s one of the most powerful men in the country!
In contrast, Mondo could help Byakuya relax a bit and just live freely, embracing life rather than working 24/7 for once. These 2 could give each other a moment to just breathe and not have to worry about being the best for once and I think that’s really important
They also have a lot in common when it comes to their backstories. No one on this Earth can convince me that Byakuya doesn’t feel some sense of guilt or survivors guilt over what happened to his siblings. Granted, they may not have physically died (not by his hand, anyway) but they’re still seen as dead to the family and their lives were ruined because Byakuya defeated them. Meanwhile, we know Mondo has some really intense survivors guilt over his brother. Because of this, I think they’d be able to understand each other in a way most others can’t. Mondo I think would also fucking hate Byakuya’s dad (same bro) and would either help Byakuya stand up to him or would yell at him on Byakuya’s behalf (cut to Byakuya falling in love with him all over again.)
Both have a competitive streak that means there’s a lot of opportunities for fun banter and friendly competitions
I headcanon Mondo is trans, and at this point I will forget that that’s not just canon. As for Byakuya, I think he’d realise later in life that he’s non-binary. All I’m saying is, t4t couple my beloved. They also both have ADHD in my mind (mainly for projecting reasons) and just them bonding over their experiences and trauma related to that I just thejfhwbskfhs

Also what is that last fruit??
It's a melon! Also sorry it took so long, some of these answers got long lmao.
🍎 Is there anything you straight-up won’t write?
I think this is highly dependent on the canon. Like people kept requesting I write body horror darkfic or porn for the Muppets and I... was not going to do that. But I am happily writing porn and body horror darkfic for WWDITS.
That said... Hmm. I won't say I never write unhappy endings, because I've done it before. (Never untagged.) But it's not typical. There are definitely some kinks that repulse me so much that I don't think I could ever write them (scat, emeto, amputation, stuff like that) but I think everyone has at least a few kinks they wouldn't want to write.
Oh. I don't like writing characters as being part of a marginalized group that they're not canonically in. (Raceswapping, trans headcanons, disability AUs, etc.) If they're canonically that, then yes! I'll write it. But idk. I just typically like writing the version of the character that exists in canon, and I feel like being a part of one of those marginalized groups so changes the way you look at and exist in the world that the character and canon would be completely different. Sexuality I can kind of handwave unless a character explicitly says they're not attracted to a certain sex, but I wouldn't go against a stated preference, either, unless there's reason to believe they're lying/closted/whatever.
Anyway, I get the appeal of these AUs, especially for people who are in those groups, but it's not a thing I care for.
🍊 Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo…)
Nadja, honestly. I primarily write romance and rarely write for canon pairings, so I don't usually write Nadja/Laszlo and thus don't really write Nadja. But other than Guillermo, she's by far my favorite character in the show (it's genuinely Guillermo and Nadja, then many steps down, then everyone else) and she's very fun to write. I keep worming her into my nandermo fic just because I love her. lmao. I want to write her and Guillermo bonding over crime. I love them both.
I also like writing Laszlo but jesus fucking christ his dialogue is hard to write. Like all of them have difficult dialogue, but that man is on another level.
🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
Honestly, I don't write AUs that often. Like I said before, I usually like writing the version of characters that's in canon. I'll sometimes do canon divergent AUs, but I'm not usually that interested in writing full AUs most of the time.
When I do write an AU, it's usually going to be either a request or an AU that I think has narrative meaning, and like... I feel like you need to really think things through to write a good AU. I think most bad or unfulfilling AUs arise from writers failing to identify the parts of a canon that matter. And honestly, you can focus on different key themes in different AUs, but there should always be a key connection there.
Like, what is a key part of this series and how can you explore that best through an AU? Is it the character's inner trauma? How would that be affected by the new setting? Is it the relationship between these two characters? That should be different, but not so different that you lose that spark. Is it the setting itself? (Like a magical world or something.) Then you need to have an AU that nevertheless reflects that setting.
I think that an AU should be a way of exploring a character or theme or relationship that you think is intrinsic to the canon that you love, tbh. You should be deepening the understanding of that aspect when you write, not shucking it off. If you just abandon the parts of the canon that people love... yeah, ofc it will feel unfulfilling. You got rid of the fun part!
Like... for example, I recently wrote a space AU for Sleep No More, which is a canon that primarily deals with witchcraft and murder mysteries. For me, that sense of the fey unknown, the timelessness, and the scent of blood is something intrinsic to the show. So when I wrote a space AU, I leaned into what would be something fey and historical that could affect space (I went with the music of the spheres) and the murder and that vague sense of malevolence that seems to permeate the hotel. And I think the AU turned out pretty well! Because I kept the part of the show that means something to me.
...also because of this I do tend to hate mundane AUs. lmao. I never want things to get less supernatural!
idk man I have a lot of thoughts on AUs! Especially because a lot of canons I've written for have canon AUs and timeline fuckery!
(Also, when it's a canon that I don't even like, I have far fewer rules with AUs. Just write whatever, the canon sucks anyway. lmao)
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.
ohhhh this could be an entire post on its own
My REGULAR blorbo is currently Guillermo de la Cruz. I love him love him love him and I'm obsessed with the way that he uses half-truths to keep the people he loves at arm's length. I love the way he cares for others through service and feels hurt when they don't do the same for him. I love the relationship he has with food that's only hinted at throughout the series. I love the religious damage that he seems to be purposefully flouting. I love how selfish he is and how his kindness is selfish and his love is selfish and his self-betterment is selfish. I love that he's so full of contradictions. I could tell you about what I love about Guillermo for hours. He's such a fascinating character. I feel like recently I've been really interested in needling at his hypocrisy and his selfishness and his neediness in fics, and how all that is nevertheless wrapped up in something very, very sweet. I want to write him caring and being cared for in the most fucked up ways possible.
My WRITING blorbo, though, is probably Nandor. I don't like him nearly as much as I do Guillermo, but he's very fun and interesting to write. It took me a while to get the hang of it because he's just such a fucking mess of a wet dog, but after thinking Far Too Deeply about that man's psyche, I really enjoy writing him. It's like sticking a bug in a jar and shaking it. Do I love bugs? I mean, they're okay. But I'm fascinated. I'm fascinated. I want to peel away his layers and see what makes him tick. It's probably something stupid and emotionally devastating. God.
I think as for themes I write for him a lot... Mostly ideas about abandonment and fear. I think he's in many ways the most bombastic and most timid of all the characters in the show, and that fascinates me. He's so big and so small at once, and Guillermo does the same thing but in the opposite direction. I love that Nandor puts on such a brave face while probably being the most traumatized of anyone there, even though he hasn't necessarily suffered the most.
I think about Nadja/Laszlo so much (such a quality pairing) and how Laszlo said that Nadja helped him heal from the damaged person he was, but how it took hundreds of years. I think we can begin to see that happening with Guillermo and Nandor, too. They make each other better and they make each other worse and they're opening each other up bit by painful bit and I love that for them.
I guess the theme I keep coming back to is the whole "make each other better or make each other worse, we are certainly making each other the most Ourselves version of ourselves we've ever been." It's the deeply unsafe safe space they create for each other that I think both of them need in different ways. God, I love it when two characters' mental illnesses line up just right. lmao
anyway, this is super, super long. so I'll stop here. but I can ramble about any of these topics forever hahaha.

I just think its so funny when t*rfs say being trans is a mental illness but….. the person saying it is queer. babe. do you know what they said about gay people in the 50s?
“____ people are predators! keep them away from children!”
“____ are perverted, their lifestyle is a fetish, they’re deranged.”
“being ____ is a mental illness, we need to get these people ‘therapy’ and ‘treatment’ to convert them to a normal, cisheterosexual lifestyle, because any variation from a ‘normal’ expression is obviously a sign of a defective childhood, abuse, or trauma.”
“being ____ is a choice. if you just tried hard enough you could be normal.”
you could literally swap “gay” for “trans” and you’d have an identical set of morals. and it’s embarrassing to not recognize that.
“we need to protect women because they’re a marginalized identity!!!” ? and what do you think being trans is? most trans people I know are very vocal about wanting rights for all women, cis and trans. we want the same thing, which is for people of marginalized gender identities to not face discrimination, violence, or harassment, and to have a life full of joy. you’re so close.
if you just left your corner of the internet to read from trans queer perspectives (Leslie Feinberg, Kate Bornstein, etc), you would see that trans people have always been here, and we have always been loved by members of the queer community.
to say otherwise is to impose colonialism and patriarchy on the beautiful and varied human experience that is gender, that is both universal and particular, that is nuanced and (for some) can be reduced to simple terms. how can you say trans women are men appropriating women, or that trans men are self-hating women, when indigenous people from tribes all over the world, for centuries and centuries and millennia and millennia, have created trans identities outside of capitalism and patriarchy? where is the motivation to appropriate another gender for power struggles or a fetish when you live in a culture that already has gender equality?
instead of believing that trans people are inherently bad, wrong, perverted, why not believe that all people should be given the choice to express gender freely and without judgment? wouldn’t that benefit cis women as well?
why not listen to someone talk about their experience in good faith, and see their humanity before you see the things you hate about them? would you not wish the same thing for yourself, from your oppressor? how can we achieve equality when we actively oppress one another and will not hear each other? what is feminism without intersectionality? it cannot exist. it is an oxymoron. you either fight for the liberation of all people (yes, including cis men), or you fight for inequality.
you will never achieve the freedom you are looking for without trans people. you can never nicely and cleanly separate us from a movement without shooting your own foot in the process. liberating us will liberate yourself.

When Charmee Taylor, an LA-based actor, came out as bisexual two years ago, she hoped it would be a climactic moment. “A band is going to play, people are going to be like ‘Go Charmee, you’re out!’” she says. But the euphoria was tempered by a sinking realization: As a Black bi woman, Taylor would be coming out, in one way or another, for the rest of her life. That’s partly due to bisexual erasure, the tendency of both straight and queer communities to overlook, ignore, and perpetuate negative stereotypes about people who are attracted to more than one gender. Bisexual erasure intertwines with racism, ableism, transphobia, and other forms of marginalization to harm bi folks in all our intersecting identities. Like the bi folks I spoke to for this piece, I define “bisexual” as meaning attraction to more than one gender, which can include people across the gender spectrum. Bisexual people can be cis, trans, or agender; we can identify as fluid or find that our attractions are more fixed; and we can be attracted to different genders, at different times, to different degrees. “Bisexual” and “pansexual” are different labels for people attracted to multiple genders, and there are many reasons folks prefer one or the other, but we share similar concerns and solidarity. Bisexuals are the largest subgroup of LGBTQ-identified people. Yet most of us have, at one point or another, had to contend with the myth that we don’t exist. Bi erasure is rooted in the misunderstanding of gender and sexuality as a binary, in which we must be either men or women, gay or straight. Partly as a result of bi erasure, bisexual folks are less likely than our gay and lesbian siblings to come out; we have limited data and funding dedicated to our health; and we experience increased rates of poverty and violence. While bi erasure is harmful and persistent, Deana Williams, a sexual health doctoral candidate and researcher at Indiana University, reminds us that it’s not the whole story. Bi folks have long pushed back against a world that overlooks us, turning our sexuality into a source of solidarity. “We can use identity for resilience,” she says.
Bi Erasure Is Constant
Most bi folks have a story of coming out and feeling invalidated. This can take the form of being told “you’re just asking for attention,” says Marissa Tolero, a bi-identified psychotherapist and yoga instructor who works with women and queer clients. When Taylor came out to some loved ones, meanwhile, she was asked whether she was bi as a result of childhood trauma, and whether bisexual men really exist. (“That’s like being like, ‘Is the sky real?’ Yes, it’s real,” she says.)
Discrimination of bisexual people is ultimately harmful to all queer people.
Many bi people face the assumption that our sexualities are temporary. “People assume bisexual women are just experimenting, and they’ll ultimately realize that they’re straight. And bisexual men are on the triain to being gay,” says Nic Johnson, a Lehigh University professor who researches bi women’s experiences of sexual violence. Of course, bi folks’ attractions can be fluid, and our labels can change—but that’s not proof that our sexualities aren’t “real.” Similarly, bi folks are often judged according to the gender of their current partner, rather than their self-identified orientation. “A lot of people assume that once you’re married, you’ve ‘picked a side’,” says Cora Eckert, a bi, nonbinary woman theater professional who moderates a Facebook group for bi people with long-term partners. (They use all pronouns, but opted for they/them pronouns for this piece.) “I’ve had to tell them that even though I’m married to my wife, that doesn’t make me a lesbian,” they say. Tolero experiences the opposite pressure: Because she’s in a relationship with a cisgender, heterosexual man, others often assume that she’s straight. Queer people perpetuate anti-bi stigma, too. Tolero has been told by queer friends that, because of her relationship, she’s “chosen men” and is less queer. As a result of similar kinds of invalidation, Johnson says, “I feel more accepted in queer spaces if I don’t say that I’m bi.” This discrimination is ultimately harmful to all queer people. It increases our collective anxiety around identity, and decreases our ability to build community. The result, says Tolero, is a “divide and conquer” dynamic that ultimately benefits cis men. “Those who are oppressed are encouraged to divide and turn towards each other,” says Tolero. “It’s a tactic of oppressing queer people in general.”
Bi Erasure Hurts Our Health
Bi erasure enables harmful stereotypes and prevents accurate, empowering research on the bi community. Bisexual people experience higher rates of poverty than lesbian and gay people, at 30 percent. We’re also more likely to experience interpersonal violence: 61 percent of bisexual women, and 37 percent of bisexual men, have experienced sexual or intimate partner violence, as compared to 44 percent of lesbians and 26 percent of gay men. There isn’t good data on how biphobia specifically effects trans and nonbinary people, but in general, 31 percent of trans people live in poverty, and 66 percent have experienced sexual violence—a much higher rate than their cisgender counterparts.
“You don’t have to change yourself to please anyone. Embrace all of yourself.”
Mainstream culture hypersexualizes bi people, especially bi women and femmes, so our coming out may also be treated as a sexual invitation. That, says Johnson, can lead to others victimizing us. Eckert has felt this hypersexualization in their daily life. “For some reason when you say bisexual, people really emphasize the word sexual in it,” they say. Meanwhile, bi people of color are forced to navigate structural racism in addition to biphobia. For Taylor, this leads to a constant sense of in-betweenness. “I feel like I’m not accepted by the straight people back home,” says Taylor. But when she moved to a majority-white, gay Los Angeles neighborhood, “I felt that I couldn’t be Black.” These intersecting oppressions contribute to bi folks’ higher rates of anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
Bi and Proud
“This is something I’m deeply struggling with as we speak—wanting to have someone be like, ‘Yes you’re queer,’” Taylor says. But true validation, she’s learned, can only come from within. “The only person that’s gonna bring you wholeness is yourself.” Wiliams, whose research focuses on the aging experiences of bisexual, bi- or multiracial people, has learned similar lessons from the elders she works with. “They reject being in a box and they love that,” Williams says. “That transcendence is something that is seen as a strength.” When Williams asks them for advice for younger bisexual, bi- or multiracial people, the lesson is often simple: “You don’t have to change yourself to please anyone. Embrace all of yourself.” This self-embrace is a daily practice, like a muscle we can build. We all have an inner voice that knows our truth, beyond the expectations of partners, family, or even LGBTQ community. Practice embracing this inner voice with compassionate understanding, says Tolero. Check in on your inner monologue: Are you making judgmental or invalidating comments toward yourself? See if you can reframe them into more affirming ones, giving yourself the same grace as you would a beloved friend. Seek out media that represents bi people in affirming ways; seeing positive reflections of ourselves can help change that internal script. You can also build healthier boundaries to protect your time and energy from people who invalidate you. Recently, Taylor says, she’s practiced opting out of conversations that deplete her emotional energy, especially when others ask her to educate them about her identities. “I have to take care of me first,” she says. “If you’re not there yet, I can’t bring you.” Many of the elders Williams works with feel that their identities as bisexual and bi- or multi-racial help them cultivate more empathic connections with other marginalized people. This kind of social support is one of the most important ways we can validate ourselves. Seek out bi-affirming community spaces. Try reaching out to your local LGBTQ community center or use the Bisexual Resource Center to find a bi-affirming group near you.
Building a Bi Utopia
Bi folks are taught that our orientation should be kept hidden. But in reality, our sexualities can be a source of joy and strength. I asked my interviewees what a bi utopia would look like for them. Eckert imagines a world in which “every human being has the right to explore who they are as a person.” Johnson wants a world where “your sexuality, whatever it looks like, could be seen as beautiful.” Taylor imagined a world of radical equality, in which the most marginalized are centered. We’ll reach a bi utopia, she says, “Once we get the people who are at the very back of the line to the front.” Enormous inequalities come between us and that world. But I believe that we each already carry a little piece of bi utopia inside us, in the form of our radical capacity to love. Taylor agrees. Even after reflecting on the pain of bi erasure, her voice fills with joy. “I feel overwhelmed with how happy I am to be bi. It’s such a gift,” she says. “In my opinion—I’m very biased, pun intended—I just think it’s a magical thing.”

wow you've...never spoken to an endogenic system at all have you? cause it's clear you haven't and you'd rather parrot sysmed rhetoric
newsflash asshole - YOU'RE the ones causing the harm. you're the ones who come into OUR tags with your hate, telling us we don't exist because you can't be bothered to educate yourself, screenshot our blogs and raid inclusive plural discords so you can post on disgusting places like r/systemscringe and r/fakedisordercringe, and gaslight endo systems into thinking they must have trauma even though the fucking DSM-V that you love to treat as the gospel even says that trauma is not a requirement for plurality AND that there are other kinds of plurality that do not fit under a traumagenic umbrella.
so either sit down shut up and educate yourself for once and stop aligning yourself with exclusionists that literally take transmed rhetoric and rearrange it for their needs, or fuck off and die
oh and stop posting in our tags
Thank you for caring about others, genuinely I think concern about the wellbeing of others is the most admirable thing a person can do, even if you don’t realize that’s what you’re doing here. While I don’t align myself with people who go on “raids” or anything like that, I can understand the confusion.
I truly hope endogenic systems get the support needed if they do have a system, because systems form through trauma and up-to-date research proves as much. Did you know the DSM is outdated, racist, classist, and harmful to many communities? The best understanding comes from current medical and scientific research, which is admittedly lacking due to it being a divisive field to study, but respectable current research and studies show that systems form through trauma in early childhood. It’s not gaslighting to say any of that. We underestimate just how little children can handle without it counting as trauma, and you probably never even thought you were traumatized that badly as a kid! It sucks. I know. And if you’re 100% sure that you don’t have trauma but claim to have a system, you’re hurting vulnerable people. Simple as that. (You probably have trauma, though. Being poor growing up is traumatic enough to cause a system. Being bullied. Being emotionally neglected or isolated. Even one-off events that you were too young to process correctly. The list goes on.) It’s a coping mechanism, like maladaptive daydreaming. Comparing the above sentiment to transmedicalism is extremely transphobic and ableist. “Seek help if you believe you have something that is exclusive to a trauma disorder, otherwise differentiate your experience so that terms originated for medical use aren’t being misused” isn’t the same as “trans people should be barred from the support they need if they don’t meet medical criteria”. In fact honestly they’re kind of the opposite of each other - one is rallying for more support and aid, and the other is barring people from needed support. And if the above sentiment makes you mad enough to tell someone to kill themselves, please think about who’s actually trying to hurt who, and I hope your life eases enough that you don’t feel the need to suicide bait traumatized people online for suggesting that you might need help.
And for the record, I tag posts both as “traumagenic system” and “endogenic system” so my followers can block tags as needed, and I feel like calling it “syscourse” is a misleading name for the situation (which is its own essay that I won’t get into here), but I’ll change my primary tag regarding endogenic systems to “syscourse” to avoid future confusion. I will not, however, ever hide an outstretched hand to those who need it, including systems who have yet to process their trauma.

Dumb Headcanons with LK!
I have a headache and feel like shit but whatever.
Today Imma go off about Jason Todd
Okay so we know this man has enough trauma that if it spilled into the ocean you could drink it and it would take like sad boy soup (please don’t drink the ocean). But I thought it be funny just to go off about some of the silly HCs i have about this man. There are some that are more not so funny haha, but I will put a TW before them so you can skip over. anyways, enjoy.
Everything is under the cut cuz this bitch long af
FtM Jason
I vibe with both cis and trans Jason but FtM Jay will always hold a special place in my soul. that being said, I feel like this boy either didn’t really have a chest (through hormone blockers or just genetically not having a big chest.) Or he had some of the biggest honkers known to man.
If Jay has a small chest I feel like he keeps up with a very strict workout regiment so he doesn't develop fat in and around his chest area. Boy is so flat that he didn’t need to get top surgery (lucky bastard) so he has no defining scars. Tho I do think he feels like his chest doesn't look right sometimes and kinda freaks himself out.
If Jay has a big chest I don’t think it’s because Bruce is transphobic or anything, but because Jay either a) didn’t tell Bruce tell later on. Or b) Didn’t find out he was trans tell a few years after he hit puberty. Could also be a bit of both. Like Jay figures out he’s not a girl when he around 12 (So when he first meets Bruce) but doesn’t tell Bruce until one day Bruce asks why Jay always has some kind of tenser bandage around his chest (Jay’s around 13-14). Jason finally gives in and comes out to Bruce. Que getting a stern talking to from Alfred about the importance of binding properly and all that jazz. He gets on T as a gift for his 15th B-day. Kinda sucks cuz he dies not too long after. After he wakes up he’s very much so pissed about everything (Especially the fact that he still has tits) Anyway, a few months after being in life pt2 the electric boogalo he goes up to literary anyone he knows that can use a knife and not fuck up and asks them to yeet his teetes. So his scars are kind funky. Don’t get me wrong his chest looks great and is not misshapen in anyway, but the scars are kinda funky.
Jason Todd needs glasses
If seen some art and fanfics where he has reading glasses and it always makes my brain feel fuzzy/pos. But here me out, what if this boy just needs glasses. Like hes not blind af but its to a point that if he doesn't have contacts in everything is slightly fuzzy. his eyes were fine before the pit, but now they’re just slightly fucked. He usually has contacts in (cuz glasses don’t exactly fit under his helmet) but he does were his glasses when he isn’t on parole or is just chilling. makes for a good disguise though because not many people know he needs glasses.
Jay Hates the taste of blood (TW mentions of: Blood, Puking, The way Jay died, PTSD.)
Jay HATES when blood get’s in his mouth. If he get’s a nose bleed or a cut on or around his mouth he’ll do everything in his power to not get it in his mouth.
When he has blood in his mouth it makes him think about how he died cuz ya know he got boinked to death (He doesn’t always get flash backs from this but he does get very uncomfortable whenever he tastes blood.) There’s also a very good chance that he’ll just puke his guts out if the blood sits on his tongue for too long. If his on a mission or parole and has his helmet on he will rip it off to either spit out the blood or so he doesn’t puke in his helmet.
He also can’t stand the taste of metal but it freaks him out slightly less because it cold and not warm.
Jason colour codes people (TW mentions of: Panic, jay’s death, maybe some PTSD)
I have no clue how to describe why i think he does this but Imma try. So basically when jay dies the last thing he remembers seeing is joker (obviously) but with that comes the fact that The Joker is very colourful. The green purple combo especially made him uncomfortable. so eventually he decided to colour code the people he knows so hopefully he’ll fell less shitty when seeing certain colours. (He either learnt this through a friend/family or from a therapist.)
Red: Tim Drake
Orange: Roy Harper
Yellow: Duke Thomas
Green: Damian Wayne
Blue: Dick Grayson
Purple: Kori (Koriand'r)
Black: Bruce Wayne
White: Alfred Pennyworth
Gray: Bizarro
Green and purple combo still make Jay feel uneasy but he’s a lot better now that he does this.
That’s all I can think of rn but i may add more at a later date. If you wanna share your HCs with me I’d love to read them!! That’s all for now until next time!!

Saw some cringe comments on a post on the indie sleaze Instagram account that pissed me off and I didn’t wanna start an argument so I thought I might as well ramble about it here. The music considered to be under this umbrella was some of the first music I remember forming core memories to as a child, so I feel as though I have a right to speak.
The post in question was asking the followers what artists of the present day give off the indie sleaze vibe and sure I don’t think musically or aesthetic wise a lot of the suggestions were quite there, (I think it’s a bit early before we see electroclash, bloghouse and the 2000s garage rock sound coming back - but I think it’s just around the corner tbh) there was this one reactionary asshole just replying to everyone with innocent suggestions of new artists saying they’re not indie sleaze because they’re “woke and PC and demonising heterosexuality and have blue hair pronouns and trauma”. Especially if the artists being suggested were LITERALLY just existing as LGBT+/queer. Like… even if there was nothing about politics in the music, and they were just existing as themselves.
And it got me thinking about how this person was so wrong… and that they’re literally rewriting history to try and suit their own narrative, and tbh it was bordering on saying “this artist is not indie sleaze because they’re openly a minority and are sometimes making music about it.”
When it comes to the “anti identity politics” bullshit this person stated in their revisionist history, it seems they must’ve forgotten that while the indie sleaze subculture wasn’t as a WHOLE inherently preaching social justice, it was still in fact a very friendly space for LGBT+ people and feminist artists who were very open about both those things. Probably more so than other subcultures in the 2000s. This was especially prominent in the electroclash subgenre which had a lot of their artists intersecting with the riot grrrl and queercore scenes. Like… did this person just forget that Lesbians On Ecstacy, Gravy Train, Chicks On Speed, CSS, Gossip and fucking PEACHES existed???? (This entire list of artists btw is a big fraction of my yassification playlist???) (Also DON’T GET ME STARTED on how many bloghouse artists either ended up making hyperpop music later in their career or ended up working with hyperpop artists… and we all know how gay AND trans positive that genre inherently is)
This era also def made some progress when it came to artists of colour too. Indie scenes in the past definitely lacked POC, especially in popular bands - but while indie sleaze was still mainly white dominated some POC artists definitely managed to get some spotlight which hadn’t really been seen in indie music before. You had Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Natasha Khan (Bats For Lashes), Kele Okereke (Bloc Party) (AND HE’S GAY TOO), Santigold, M.I.A, Tahita Bulmer (New Young Pony Club), 3/4 of the members of TV On The Radio were black men. I feel like there would probably be less POC making any kind of indie bops now if it weren’t for these talented people laying the foundation.
So yeah, basically to end my pointless infodump - indie sleaze - while I can criticise elements of it as I can with most 2000s subcultures, (the 2000s and it’s idea of everything being apolitical, egalitarian, and post identity politics to an extent did rub off on all the media and as such I can acknowledge that general attitude ageing weirdly now in the wake of a lot of us realising our core social issues never went away) is actually a lot more progressive than people remembered it to be. Especially in terms of its inclusivity of minorities which this person seems to think just didn’t exist openly and proudly in its past. If there’s a comeback and more minorities make music in any style under the indie sleaze umbrella (electroclash, bloghouse, 00s style garage rock), it’ll won’t be all too different from how it was because it’s the same music, same messy grimy aesthetic with smudged eyeliner and American Apparel disco pants - just more diversity and the newest iPhones instead of iPod nanos (I will forever be mad that iPod nanos aren’t still a thing though!)

5 Things I Never Tire of Writing
@starlightscribe tagged me in this game (thank you!!)
Rules: List 5 things you never get tired of writing. Can be tropes/themes/situations/certain descriptions etc. Basically anything you can think of.
As always I’m terrible at tagging but @boss-the-goofball @winterandwords @bookish-galaxy @jjm-blogspot @wildswrites and an open tag for whoever. If I tagged you and you don’t wanna do it no pressure or anything I’m just awkward.
Anyways. Here we go!
1. Inhuman characters
It is my brand at this point. I say inhuman as a catch-all but demons, angels, and dragons are my go-to. I also like vampires, werewolves, anthropomorphic animals, eldritch abominations, cryptids, monsters… you name it I probably love it. Extra points to me if it’s a winged character too. I love me some wings.
2. Love
I’m a cliche sap and am in love with the concept of love. Especially how the Greeks looked at love, as they had different terms for different kinds of love. Romance is one of my favorites, but I also adore found family, parent/child love, and also unrequited love, love/devotion toward a concept, toxic and abusive love, or even when love is absent. I enjoy exploring how love can be something beautiful… or something ugly.
3. Magic
There are very few WIPs I have that don’t have some sort of magic within them. I enjoy both hard magic systems and soft magic systems (that eventually turn into hard ones but shhhhhh.) Whether it be special powers, artifacts, spells, or Jedi mind tricks, I love the mystical and magical. This usually goes hand-in-hand with my inhuman characters.
4. LGBT+
Pretty much all my characters are LGBT. Mainly Bi because I’m Bi myself and I’m so tired of the shitty rep Bi people get in the media. No, I’m not “without labels.” No I’m not “Hearts not parts” I’m bisexual. That’s the word. And it’s not a dirty word either.
Sorry for the mini rant
That being said, I have plenty of characters that are gay/lesbian, ace, and pan too. I do have some straight characters but they’re in relationships with partners who aren’t straight. I also enjoy exploring gender and gender expression. I have many characters who are nonbinary, trans, are inhuman and hermaphrodites, or characters who have no concept of sex OR gender and don’t possess sex organs at all. Any and all of the above can be found. Furthermore, I enjoy weaving these themes into the world building and story itself rather than focus on being LGBT as part of the plot. I am tired of reading “coming out” stories. I want to go deeper than that.
4. Foreshadowing
Oh boy one of my favorite tools of all time! I love my Chekhov’s guns and I keep track of them better than my plots most the time. I love sprinkling in details that all tie together later on. Bonus points for both big and small details; not every piece of foreshadowing has to be something major. Sometimes it can be goofy or a small Easter egg too. It’s for sure one of my favorite tools and it pops up in pretty much every story I write.
5. Trauma, Angst, and Character Death
Wouldn’t be me if I didn’t write some messed up stuff. All my main characters either have trauma before the story starts, or more likely, suffers a lot of trauma during the story. This can be emotional, mental, or even physical. Likewise, I have no fear in killing off important characters or even main characters. Sometimes life isn’t pretty or kind. Actually a lot of the time it isn’t. I like to reflect that. That being said, I also hate unhappy/sad endings, so take that as you will >;3c
