Today I bring you… *drumroll*

Teacher!Hob headcanons (mixed with an aftertaste of dreamling because I’m mentally ill about them)! Plus a bonus, mildly NSFWish, bit because, as much as I insist on writing sexy shit about them, I’m shy in front of an audience

Teacher Hob headcanons

Hob drives a motorcycle to university. it’s very important to me, ok? (picture him in a well worn leather jacket, distressed blue jeans and taking his helmet off/putting it on 😭💦🥴)

Hob’s outfit game slides from the most “cleans-up-nicely”, contemporary style, to the “just woke up with a migraine this morning after pulling 3 all nighters grading essays” half-made bun and T-shirt. His students can tell at what point of the school period they are depending on Mr Gadling’s looks alone.

Some of Hob’s literature students have taken to playing a game consisting of making him rant about William Shakespeare. He’s become scarily good at keeping his thoughts about the playwright to himself through the ages, and he can manage entire classes teaching his works without issue (maybe Will is still important or whatever). Still, once every blue moon, a student is able to get him riled up enough to trigger one of his signature “Shakespeare’s overrated” monologues. They have kind of a formula figured out: Bring up the topic of the bard’s possible inspirations, or the possible muse for Sonnet 130 and you’re pretty much a winner. He gets… passionate about it, to say the least.

Hob writes short quotes on the board at the beginning of his classes, hinting at the topic of the day. He makes his students try to guess it. He can be quite creative, which makes guessing more difficult. So, if they get it in the first three tries, he let’s them leave a bit earlier. As a treat.

He’s a MASTER storyteller. It’s one of the reasons why his lessons are so in demand and almost always full. His intonation, rhythm and body language are captivating. Sometimes, he’ll wear full-on costumes (with props and everything, the sweet man) to make his lessons more entertaining and interactive. Mr Gadling may be a little exotic, but that’s part of why he’s so popular at uni. (Something something, Dream’s rather private, but the pride that swells in his chest at Hob’s narrative abilities is undeniable).

Hob showed his students an antique fire weapon once (it was one of his, from the 17th century) and proceeded to baffle them after. demonstrating how to safely dismantle it, quickly put back it together, charge it and shoot it in record time. Like he’d been there when they first were made… Hey, Mr Gadling certainly has a variety of interests, huh?

So many faculty members have a crush on Mr Robert Gadling. He’s damn handsome and his easy smile melts even the coldest of hearts. He never seems to return anyone’s romantic sentiments, though. He insists there’s someone in his life already, but no one’s ever seen them?? And Hob won’t even tell their a name??? (He’s still a bit possessive about Dream’s name. It took him 600 years to get it, for god’s sake).

Cue the entire university slowly getting invested in Mr Gadling’s love life.

Bonus NSFW!

Dream enjoys visiting Hob at the uni. Sometimes, he’ll materialise in lecture halls, wait for him at the door, at the halls, at his office… Hob’s prudence is constantly hanging by a thread because Dream has taken a liking to showing up with nothing but his pitch black robe on and getting Hob to push him against the wall and maybe fuck him on his desk, if they have time.

Wow.... this really hurts my heart for real. 😥

I've heard Taraji talk about this inequality in pay in Hollywood for ages... In fact, I've even posted some of her videos to my blog where she spills the tea and really breaks down for you how much she actually is able to keep from her paychecks. But I have NEVER seen her breakdown like this.... 😭🥺

This just really hurt my spirit... 😔 I keep telling people that a LOT of your faves in Hollywood really aren't making as much money as you THINK they're making. 😔 ESPECIALLY poc.

By the time everyone has a cut, they're not left with as much money as reported. That has to be so discouraging. I know how I feel when I see how much Uncle Sam takes from my pay check every pay period... 🙄 I can't imagine having that AND having to pay my team on top of that.

Now we know why some of these actors are always out here WORKING.... Like, some people are like, "wow, they're ALWAYS working huh?" Or, "Geez, they're in everything!" But now I see, a lot of these actors are working so hard because they HAVE to! Plain and simple!

I remember when people were saying that Zendaya is a "workaholic", or "works too much", and I'll admit, there was even a time in the past when I felt like she could have afforded to take a little break here and there... but now I realize... we don't always know all the facts or what's going on bts! Woc, esp in Hollywood are NOT given the same opportunities/roles as their white (or even male) counterparts, and not only that, but when they DO land a role, they're earning so much LESS than others. It's so sad and, quite frankly, insulting. 😤

My heart goes out to Taraji, because she's been in the game for years, and she's steadily done more and more amazing work year after year... so the fact that she's not getting her due compensation is just awful. 😔 I'm glad she's exposing this.

Even Terence Howard is suing because he feels like he hasn't been compensated half as much as his peers in Hollywood, even though he and Taraji had that hit show "Empire" on Fox for YEARS! I never watched the show past the first season, but I know how POPULAR and well-watched that show was.... it even won awards... So it's just awful that they aren't being paid their worth.

I really hope she doesn't give up acting, because she's so talented. 🥺🙏🏾

record store anon again that was so good 🥹I think he eventually tries his hand at making mixtapes for her with some things he knows they both like and more "mainstream" stuff he thinks she'll like (she already knows them but pretends Steve showed her some new bands because he gets so excited every time she mentions she listened to his tapes)

Maybe she eventually goes to fv to be like now you can recommend some movies to me :) but he's absolutely fucking clueless so they end up watching something like the goonies or something else that's super popular

maybe she goes to a little community college that's nearby and has her own small college radio show and sometimes plays the songs from his mixtapes and he basically melts (he's also like one of her very few listeners and he tries to reference the show from time to time to show her he listened to it)

I love her being new in town and she has no idea of his reputation so to her he's just this dorky dude like would never in a million years believe his king Steve phase because he keeps blushing and tripping over himself when she's nearby

them making each other mixtapes is so 🥹 they have new ones for each other every week and the day after they exchange a mixtapes they’re coming into each other’s stores raving about how good it was and annoying all the customers because they’re hogging the counter yelling at each other about how much they loved it

they write little notes for each other and stick them in the casette’s case <3 and steve keeps every single one, even if it’s as short as “for steve” or “play this when you’re feeling down” or as long as a whole rant about how much they love the band/song, steve keeps them all in his glovebox like the sentimental nerd he is!

also imagine steve giving her a ride home and he asks her to reach into the glovebox for his sunglasses. he has to suspiciously slam it shut before she fully opens it because he remembered that’s his Secret Hiding Place and he’d be too embarrassed for her to find out 😭

when steve first gets the idea to make a mixtape for her as a surprise gift, he has to go into the store to buy some blank tapes. she’s ringing them up for him and she teases him like “who’re you making mixtapes for huh? romancing someone?” and he just becomes a blushing mess because the answer is a resounding yes and that someone is her

it’s so sweet that she pretends she’s never listened to some of the songs steve puts on the mix for her 😭 like the beatles? revolutionary. but it makes him feel so happy it feels like he’s sharing something special with her

they sit on the curb outside their stores during their breaks and she just listens to him talk about the music he likes and she’s truly so interested because she loves seeing how happy it makes him even if it’s stuff she’s all heard before :,) (also them eventually coordinating their breaks when they get closer so they can spend them listening to music and eating in steve’s car together WAHHHHHHHH)

the next time steve comes over to the music store she plays the mixtape he made her over the store speakers!!! he immediately jokes “who made this? his music taste must suck” and she smiles and goes “maybeee but he’s pretty damn sweet so he gets a pass” and he’s just screaming internally

I LOVE YOUR IDEA WHERE SHE GOES INTO FAMILY VIDEO 😭 i picture her coming into fv after their little exchange with the abba tape

steve sees her coming from across the way and just immediately starts freaking out. he’s debating rushing into the backroom to hide and he’s getting robin to reassure him that his hair looks fine

finally he just shoves the tape she gave him into the store stereo system and abba blares to life

she waltzes in, grabs a pack of m&ms from the counter and just starts eating and singing and dancing through the store and. steve is just laughing and watching her and totally in lurvVVvvVeEeEe

she finally calls him over: “hey, steven?” (i love the idea that the first few times they meet she calls him steven because that’s how eddie introduced him in an attempt to embarrass him 😭 but when they start actually getting closer and eventually dating she still calls him steven from time to time it’s like a jackie and hyde from that 70s show moment) and she asks for a rec, he chooses some random teen movie and she goes “okay good! so, your place or mine?” “what?” “well, i need someone to watch it with, don’t i?” and his heart feels like it’s going to explode fjjdjshshsha

from then on they go to the cinema together and eat up all the newest cheesy teen movies, share popcorn, whisper jokes and try not to scream with laughter in the back of the theatre during late night showings

he totally listens to her little radio show!! and he calls in for song requests with dorky messages like “this one’s dedicated to the best dj in hawkins”

he’ll sacrifice his breaks at fam video to rush over to her little studio and bring her coffee!! and her audio technician is totally scandalised because she went to high school with/was a couple years below him in high school and knows all about his reputation. she spills it all to record store girlie but she just can’t believe it because steve’s just a dorky little puppy to her

i absolutely love her being new in town because steve has no idea who she is and she’s so mysterious and he’s just enchanted by that and wants to know all about her :,(

she totally teases him so hard when she finds out about his reputation like calling him casanova even when he’s tripping over himself whenever she’s around 😭

he compliments her and she laughs and says “i bet you say that to all your girls” and he is just internally screaming because SHE is THE girl. i just love them.

he’s not a bad liar. he’s no like, master manipulator, but he can hold his own when it comes to fibbing if necessary. emphasis on if necessary — he has no moral qualms about lying if he needs to, but he doesn’t do it for funsies. but he doesn’t feel particularly terrible about it when he does need to do it, unless it’s to someone he cares about very deeply.

😭 CRYING — what makes them cry? do they cry easily?

harvey doesn’t cry, not because it’s out of character, but because jon is an ugly crier. i won’t put any of you through that. jk. it’s very hard to make him cry, but the loss of anyone he cares about, whether an emotional or very literal, physical loss would tug at the tear ducts.

hisses. he hasn’t spoken to his dad in over 20 years. friendly enough with both older half - brothers ( david and andrew, if you were wondering ) though communication is probably limited to approximately 5 minute phone calls on holidays and birthdays. he’s definitely the black sheep of the landon clan, but as an affair baby with a dead mom who abandoned his baby brother ... we have to imagine he’s not gonna be popular at any reunions. we don’t need to unpack what’s going on with said baby brother. half brother, as i’m sure connor would remind us all.

he’s a J, but he’s also a middle aged man, so that basically equates to him having a wall calendar he puts doctor’s appointments and football schedules in. he more keeps to a routine than excessively plans — does he really need to plan for coming home, cracking open a cold one, and falling asleep in his trailer ?

👑 CROWN — what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

in all honesty, he’d rather be forgotten.

every lyric in this song. sad, huh ? other than that, the lines: “ if you’re raised with an angry man in your house, there will always be an angry man in your house. you will find him even when he is not there. and if one day you find that there is no angry man in your house — well, you will go find one and invite him in! ” he is kind of the angry man in his own house now that he is grown and no longer at home. we don’t need to unpack that.
