I need you
Tumblr media
Requested by anonymous: Omg omg omg hi!❤️ The Untamed is my life and now I can find someone who makes such perfect stories on this topic? Am I in a dream??? I hope not, I have a request for Wen Ning (already like "puppet, my darling)😁: The reader (female) is his longtime friend who never let him down and protected him even more after his death (and subsequent resurrection). It was fine at first, but then something goes wrong and Wen Ning tells her that she doesn't need to protect him so much, that he can handle it himself and he didn't realize how terrible that sounded. The reader cries and runs away. At a loss, Wen Ning seeks advice from Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan. They reveal to him that the reader actually likes him... more than a friend and that she did it all out of love. Wen Ning then goes looking for her and also confesses his feelings for her. Sorry if it's too long, my imagination is pretty wild...and please something cute ❤️ I love you!
Pairing: Wen Ning x fem!reader Word Count: 1.0k words Warnings: none

It felt like only yesterday that you saw the healthy version of Wen Ning, one that always smiled brightly and hopped around as he practiced his bow skills. Yet now, he wasn't like that anymore. He was paler and his eyes didn't hold the same life as they had before. He was dead or at least technically, but he still walked around like he was fine. Years of friendship made sure that even now, you could see him as he was. Not the ghost general, but rather Wen Ning. Just Wen Ning, the cute man that acted a bit too much like a lost puppy.
The chains that were locked around his form looked heavy, yet he wore them with ease and even used them to fight. You shouldn't care so much for the deceased man, yet here you were. Protecting him against other cultivators while he just awkwardly stood there, staring at the people.
"Move." "Oh, move yourself. You're not wanted here and you will lose." You sneered at the elder before you, raising your swords in front of you before grabbing your second sword from Wen Ning's hand. Luckily for you, they moved away once Jiang Cheng entered the scene. Although the glare to Wen Ning was obvious, the man in question seemed to not notice or chose to ignore it. Nonetheless, the nobles just cursed before all entering Lotus Pier. You followed, but stopped once you realized that Wen Ning wasn't able to join you.
"Let's hang out here together." "You don't need to." His voice wasn't loud, barely above a whisper as he sat down on the docks. Nonetheless, you chose to join him anyway. Sitting beside him, you leaned against the wall behind you as you stared at the lake.
"Why did you protect me?" He asked and you turned your head before laying your head on his shoulder. It wasn't like before, his body didn't give off the warmth that it used to and instead it was freezing cold.
"You're my friend, of course I'll protect you." You sighed softly, smiling as you saw some birds land in the water beside the lotus flowers. You flinched when Wen Ning stood back up without a warning, causing you to almost fall down on the ground. With a confused look, you stood up as well.
"I'm fine on my own. I don't need you." He spoke and your eyes widened, staring at the man before you as your heart shattered. Now, you know that he probably didn't mean for it to sound like that, and yet it hurt. Like someone cut out your heart and stomped it into the ground. You couldn't help it as tears rolled down your face, blurring your vision as you stepped back from him.
"Fine, then I'll leave." You spoke, your voice cracking before you ran off into Lotus Pier. You didn't care much for the man that remained at the entrance nor the saddened look on his face. Instead you focused on keeping your tears in until your reached your bedroom.

"Please tell me you didn't say it like that~?" Wuxian whined loudly, staring at the ghost general before him before looking at Lan Wangji for any kind of help. Said man only looked up from his book for a few seconds before rolling his eyes before continuing to read. With a low grumble, Wuxian turned back to focus the problem at hand.
"Look, girls are complicated. We all know that... Especially if they like you, because (y/n) definitely likes you. But you really phrased your thoughts in the wrong way, like a lot." Wuxian spoke and Wen Ning sighed, looking down at the chains that were wrapped around his wrists while trying to process the fact that Wuxian just told him that you liked him. He fiddled with the strings on his sleeves before looking up again, asking what he could possibly do. Wuxian smiled before starting his rant, explaining every single type of apology that he knew and this certainly wasn't a short list. Nonetheless, Wen Ning listened intensely.
"Got it, good! Now go apologize to her and confess!" Wuxian exclaimed loudly, smiling as he watched Wen Ning awkwardly left the room through the window. He snuck around while trying to find your room on his own. Soon enough he did and like always, he climbed through the window to avoid suspicion. You were in your room, but also quick to notice him with a soft yelp. You stared at him for a few second before pointing at the window.
"Out." For once he didn't listen to you, instead he remained at the window with a sullen look on his face. You sighed, knowing well enough that he wouldn't budge now and instead you just sat down.
"Why are you here? I thought you didn't need me." Your voice was laced with venom that Wen Ning could easily spot, if he was still alive his heart would ache painfully. Nonetheless, he started to apologize as he tried to copy what Wuxian had been telling him to say. It sounded a bit forced at first, but you could see that he meant what he was saying. Then came the shock as a confession rolled from his tongue like it was the most obvious thing ever.
"Sorry, what?" You stopped him and he looked at you with wide eyes, realizing that you found his confession a bit weird. Scrambling to find the right words to make the confession sound better, he missed the small smile that appeared on your face. It wasn't until you stood in front of him and took his face in your hands that he stopped, staring at you with wide eyes.
"I like you too Wen Ning." You said and in an instant, a smile appeared on his face as well and you were sure that he'd blush if alive. Once everything was progressed, he softly embraced you while trying to not hurt you with the chains that hung on his body. They may not weigh much to him, but he assumed that they'd be on the heavier side for you. You wrapped your arms tightly around the man's shoulders once you realized that he was trying to hug you, smiling while doing so.
"Never say you don't need me anymore." You spoke, your voice sounding a bit sad and Wen Ning was quick to shake his head.
"I will always need you."

Working hard (and hard at work)
Or the one in which LWJ tries to work and WWX totally doesn't try to distract him.
It is around midday that Wei Wuxian walks into the library, carrying a tray of light snacks and tea. Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen have been hard at work since early that morning, preparing reports and documents for the upcoming discussion conference. It is the first Lan Xichen is attending after his three year seclusion, so of course he needs some help getting back into the hang of things - and who's better to help than his own brother?
(Anyone, probably, since he's been traveling with Wei Wuxian for the better part of these three years himself, largely away from the Cloud Recesses, but Lan Wangji suspects his brother just wanted to spend some time together and found this as pretext).
The library is, expectedly, very quiet, the only sound welcoming Wei Wuxian being the swishing of papers - but when he walks up to the two brothers, seated side-by-side at the large reading table, they both smile at him in greeting - one, loving, soft and sincere, the other empty, placid and distant.
"How are you two holding up?" he asks, pouring two cups of perfumed tea for them to take. "I imagine none of that stuff's too fun to work on."
"It is... tiring." Lan Xichen responds, "Thank you for the treat, by the way. Very thoughtful of you."
Wei Wuxian smiles in place of an answer, and feels Lan Wangji reach across the table and briefly caress the top of his hand. Lan Xichen's eyes catch onto that, and he picks one of the sweets off the tray as he stands up. "I'm going to have some fresh air while the two of you... catch up." His eyes narrow in warning towards his brother. "I'll only be gone five minutes."
The "don't let me catch you fucking on top of this table again" goes unsaid but both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji hear it anyway. He makes himself sparse quickly, and the door barely slides closed before Wei Wuxian's taken his rightful place in his husband's arms, kissing him fervently.
Not that Lan Wangji minds, he really doesn't, who would - but he knows that, at this rate, they won't be doing just kissing for much longer. Wei Wuxian seems to be needier now than usual, and he's wearing his lightest set of summer robes so that Lan Wangji can feel all of him, everywhere - and he's very, very excited, grinding his hips against his husband's and moaning into his mouth.
But Lan Xichen will be back soon and Lan Wangji does not want his brother to make shady comments about catching him and Wei Wuxian in the act - so with all of his strength, he pushes the horny demons in both his heads away, and breaks his lips away from Wei Wuxian's.
He whines at the loss, chasing Lan Wangji's lips out, but when his eyes open enough to see his expression, a disappointed pout appears on his kiss bruised lips. "C'mon, why'd you stop?"
"You know why. My brother will return soon."
"So? We can just be quick." Wei Wuxian argues, leaning down to bite a bruise into the side of Lan Wangji's neck, "I won't be long, I promise..." His tone drops down low, dangerously low, "...after all, I've been teasing myself all morning thinking of you. You left so early, I didn't even get to tell you what I've dreamt of..."
Lan Wangji has to make himself imagine his uncle dying so doesn't pounce his husband right then and there. "Wei Ying!"
He doesn't seem to care, loosening the lapels of Lan Wangji's robe. "Don't act like I'm the degenerate one here, either. I can feel how hard you are already."
"Wei Ying, we really can't!"
Lan Wangji tries so hard to control himself that he feels like he's going to die of horny disease. The cure is right there, in his arms, about to unfasten his robes, so maybe they really could be quick and-
But Wei Wuxian suddenly decides he doesn't want to anymore, abruptly standing up and away from his husband. "You know what, maybe you're right. It's better if we don't." And he fixes his clothes to make himself look presentable, and does a rather poor job at pretending he doesn't delight in Lan Wangji's dejected expression. "Good luck with your work, Hanguang-Jun, I'll go finish mine~"
Lan Xichen walks at exactly the perfect moment for Lan Wangji not to be able to chase his husband outside. His eyes fall onto his brother's neck, and he sighs deeply, with disappointment.
It is about four hours later that Lan Wangji decides to take a break from work himself and get some sunlight. He's been cooped up in the library for much of the day, and he needs some time to unwind - so, he goes to his favorite place in the Cloud Recesses, the bunny field. He loves playing with the little creatures and perhaps he's been a bit too generous feeding them lately, but they bring him so much joy that it doesn't matter. There is plenty of ridiculous things the sect spends money on, bunnies are at least cute.
It was much to Lan Wangji's surprise, though, to find that somebody else has decided to keep the fluffy animals company. And who could it be other than Wei Ying? He seems to have fallen asleep sunbathing, an assortment of rabbits around him.
Problem is - he's not very decently dressed. In fact, he's barely dressed at all, and Lan Wangji feels himself getting jealous at the thought that people might walk by and see hus husband like this, only covered by a very loosely fitted robe that only stays on him enough to cover his...modesty. Otherwise, Wei Ying is entirely shirtless, skin gleaming with the lightest sheen of sweat, knees bent and close together to reveal his thighs.
It is nearly afternoon, so everybody in the Cloud Recesses is busy, so it's unlikely anybody would walk by. Which means, if Lan Wangji were to let the horny demons win, nobody would know.
So, he lays down next to Wei Ying, and places a hand on his thigh, pressing onto the few bitemarks he left there last night. Wei Ying moans himself out of sleep, but only enough to turn towards his assailant and close his eyes again.
"You'd just let anyone touch you?"
"Nobody but you would dare." Comes the response, a bit too sultry for somebody who's supposedly just been awoken from sleep, "Have you finally remembered I exist?"
Lan Wangji rolls his eyes and leans to kiss his husband, but his gesture isn't well received when Wei Ying pushes him away and sits up. "I don't think you finished your work."
"I took a break." Lan Wangji replies, sliding the robe off Wei Ying's shoulder to leave kisses on the tanning skin.
"It's not nice to leave your brother to struggle all by himself," he tries, the sympathy in his voice only a bit theatrical, "I can take care of myself just fine."
Lan Wangji bites him at that, and Wei Ying falls somewhere between a laugh and a moan. "I'm angry with you for pushing me away earlier, so we're not doing anything now." And he stands up again, "Go now, how long of a break do you even need?"
"But what about-"
Wei Wuxian makes it a bit of a show tightening his robe back on and tying his hair with one of Lan Wangji's forehead ribbons. "Yeah, I know, everyday is everyday, but that's for later."
"Later when?!"
He turns to walk away, swinging his hips just a little. "I don't know, when I'm done being angry with you."
---
Lan Wangji has decided to be turbo-productive for the rest of the day, and that allowed him time to drop by a local shop for Emperor's Smile. If there was a way for him to reenter his husband's good graces, that would be it. Of course, Lan Wangji doesn't think Wei Ying is actually mad at him, but he's done being denied what he craves most, so he's going to apologize and hopefully get it.
Wei Ying waits for him in the bath - well, reality is that Wei Ying has been bathing already when Lan Wangji walked in, but this is his mind and he can imagine whatever he wants in it. So, Wei Ying is there, relaxed, in the steaming water, and he doesn't even crack his eyes open to see Lan Wangji as he says "I'm still mad at you."
"I have Emperor's Smile."
His eyes snap open. "Ok, I'm not mad at you anymore, give me that!"
So Lan Wangji pours him a cup, and chastely waits by the side of the bathtub as Wei Ying drinks it. He asks for another and Lan Wangji pours it for him, not making much of an effort to hide his expectant gaze.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I want to bathe too."
"Right, I'll finish up-"
"With you."
Wei Ying sighs and gets up out of the water, wrapping a towel around himself. At this point Lan Wangji is about to cry, so Wei Ying bends down to leave a kiss on his forehead. "The bed. We've broken enough bathtubs for a week."
Lan Wangji nearly knocks over his feet running.

#xiantober Day 8: Head Disciplexian
It's been exactly 6 months since the other sect disciples left which means that it has been a year since Wei Ying left early.
Not that he's been keeping track.
He just has a good memory, is all. He doesn't think about Wei Ying.
He doesn't.
He definitely doesn't think about Wei Ying in Yunmeng summers, sweating and swimming and flirting with girls. He doesn't think about it and he doesn't feel any jealousy or anger.
He really doesn't! So, if his brother would stop looking at him like that, that would be great.
Lan Wangji is quite content with how the world views him. Cold and distant work well for him, he doesn't have to worry about people trying to talk to him and bothering him.
At least... he didn't.
But he doesn't think about him.
He visits his uncle and brother.
He walks in as they are saying something but they both stop when they see him. A growing sense of unease settles in him.
"Ah! Wangji, you're just in time!" his brother exclaims with a smile that hides nefarious intent.
Lan Wangji narrows his eyes. This does not bode well.
"Shufu and I were just talking about having you take over some classes while we go on a diplomatic trip."
Lan Wangji nods slowly, that's not so bad. So, why does he feel like there's a trap? "Very well. Where will you be going?"
Xichen grins. Oh no. "Yunmeng."
Ah...
Lan Wangji freezes, feeling like he's at war with himself. He hates diplomatic trips and having to talk to people. But... ugh! His brother knows him too well, dangling a trip to Yunmeng in front of him like a carrot on a stick.
His brother is cruel.
It's not like he wants to go.
He just... well, as a sect heir he really should try to be more diplomatic. He'll be expected to go to more events and conferences when his brother becomes sect leader. He might as well start now.
Yes.
That is why he's interested at all.
No other reason.
Xichen watches his face closely as LWJ considers everything.
"Is there a reason you did not ask me to join this trip?" he asks carefully.
His brother and uncle share a look—damn—and Xichen turns back to him. "You do not like diplomatic trips," he says with far too much cheer.
"It is expected of me as part of my sect heir duties," he replies. "I am getting older, I might as well get used to it."
Xichen smirks and nods. "Of course, of course. And this is the perfect time to do so, correct?"
Lan Wangji glares at his betrayer of a brother in response.
That, unfortunately, only makes him laugh. "I don't suppose there is any other reason for the sudden interest in—"
"No," he cuts in. Shufu gives him a look at that but Lan Wangji has already mentally assigned himself lines to copy later for his rudeness.
"So you will come?"
Lan Wangji holds back a sigh at his brother's machination and clear joy at having won. "Mn."
Xichen claps his hands together and smiles wide. "Wonderful! We will head out in the morning."
"Shall I find a replacement to cover the classes?" Lan Wangji asks.
Shufu shakes his head. "Your brother has already arranged for someone to cover them." There is a hint of disapproval in his voice but also a hint of amusement.
So.
It was all a ruse?
Lan Wangji glares at his brother but Xichen merely smiles innocently back.
With a huff, he leaves to go pack.
~
Lan Wangji is not freaking out. He is merely anxious about having to be around so many people in an unfamiliar place. He's not nervous about a certain someone that he definitely doesn't think about daily.
Someone who invited Lan Wangji here multiple times and claimed to want to be friends with him, but teased and tormented him in their time together and then never sent a letter.
Wei Ying who? He doesn't know him.
He certainly doesn't think about him and his pretty laugh.
Lan Wangji is walking to the entrance of Lotus Pier with Xichen and Shufu and he is having some serious regrets. He should not have come. It was a bad idea.
They are greeted by a servant who leads them into the entrance hall where they wait.
It's not long before Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan enter to greet them, followed shortly by Jiang Yanli, Jiang Cheng, and—
"LAN ZHAN!"
—Wei Ying.
Wei Ying's eyes are wide and his smile is large and warm as he waves at him. Lan Wangji wants to curl into a ball.
Jiang Cheng elbows Wei Ying and Wei Ying quiets, falling in line. He watches as Wei Ying's eyes glance away before he stiffens and his face closes off.
He looks and sees Yu Ziyuan glaring at Wei Ying. Something sours in Lan Wangji's mouth at the sight of that.
They are greeted warmly and then shown to their quarters for their stay. Lan Wangji is just setting his stuff down when there's a knock.
"Come in," he says turning to the door.
The door opens and Wei Ying slips in before closing it. He shifts and smiles at Lan Wangji.
"Hey, Lan Zhan! You finally came!"
Lan Wangji feels completely unmoored. "Mn."
Wei Ying feels almost timid right now and Lan Wangji is unsure what to make of that.
"So, uh... how've you been?"
"I have been well."
Wei Ying nods. "Good, good."
"How about you?"
"Ah, you know. Same old."
He, in fact, does not know. But he hums and nods anyway. Of all the things he thought could happen on this trip, having an awkward conversation with Wei Ying was not one of them.
"Will you show me around Yunmeng?" he asks suddenly.
Wei Ying's eyes light up and he stops fidgeting. "Really? You want me to?" Lan Wangji nods and Wei Ying smiles, true and warm. "Okay! But first I have to teach a class."
Lan Wangji isn't sure what makes him say it, but he asks, "May I watch?"
"Yes!" Wei Ying exclaims loudly.
It's almost amusing, seeing how excited Wei Ying seems about this. Lan Wangji finds that he looks forward to it as well. For all that he most certainly, definitely has not thought about Wei Ying this past year, he finds he is actually looking forward to spending time with him.
Oh, his brother is going to be insufferable.
Wei Ying grabs Lan Wangji's sleeve, careful not to actually touch him, and drags him out of the room through Lotus Pier. He talks a mile a minute as they go, pointing things out along their trek to the archery field.
Then, Lan Wangji gets to watch Wei Ying at work, teaching a bunch of little kids how to hold bows and shoot straight. Distantly, he knew Wei Ying was the head disciple here, but his encounters in Gusu left him wondering about that, concerned he may not be up to the task.
That started to change when they dealt with the waterborne abyss and he witnessed firsthand how quick and intelligent Wei Ying is. He's a natural-born leader.
He'd still had concerns but seeing him here, now, working with children... Lan Wangji sees just how right that role is.
Wei Ying is genuinely wonderful with the kids and they clearly love him. His teaching style is very different than anyone in the Cloud Recesses, but it works. He is fun, yet firm. The children enjoy themselves while learning. Lan Wangji hadn't realized that was truly possible.
It's a wondrous sight to witness and Lan Wangji feels a part of him melt. Maybe, being friends with Wei Ying wouldn't be so bad. Sure, he'd be subjected to teasing and torment (good-natured, he's aware) but... a part of him doesn't think that's so bad.
Ugh. Gross.
Whatever. It's just being friends. Lan Wangji can allow himself a friend. Shufu may not like it, but Xichen will (and will be endlessly annoying about it).
Maybe he will allow himself to be just a tiny more honest with himself when it comes to Wei Ying.
Wei Ying smiles brightly at him from across the field and Lan Wangji feels something settle in him while simultaneously getting his breath taken away.
Yeah. This seems right.
----------
Of course, their friendship grows and blossoms and they write letters often. It takes a bit, but they start to realize that they actually have romantic feelings for each other and begin courting years down the line (this is also a no-war au) and eventually get married.

Ch 1, Part 4:
· ✦ A Century of Silence ✦ ·
Lan Wangji opened his eyes.
This place, heaven, had been his home for the past few decades. All he knew was this place, despite the emptiness that came from not knowing where he came from.
The god had assured him when he felt vulnerable and lost, and now, he was one of if not the strongest angels in her fleet. He was successful and needed…but he still felt off. wrong.
He knew that trying to remember his time on earth was discouraged as that was the whole point of his memory charm, but the pull was extraordinary for something he couldn’t remember. He sighed and stared out at the clouds, as if the longer he looked, the more likely someone would be to appear from the clouds to steal away this void in his chest.
“Your memories are being suppressed because they will bring you turmoil and vulnerability. However, I will remove the seal one day under the right conditions.” Baoshan Sanren gave him a sympathetic pat, “For now, darling, live like this. You have many years, we will fix things.”
He looked conflicted, but nodded. If she was already doing all in her power, there was no use complaining. Her spell was to help him stay happy after all, even if it did feel wrong.
“Lan Wangji! You’re here!” A feminine, familiar voice drew his attention away from the clouds. “You look well! We just arrived.” Jiang Yanli smiled, holding her hands together. Jiang Cheng walked alongside her, a bit more clumsy with his new wings than his sister. “Is A-Xian with you? It’s been so long!”
The man moved his gaze between the two, settling on the young woman though after taking a moment to reflect on the question, something akin to confusion flickering in his eyes. “Have we met before?”
While his sister was frozen in place, Jiang Cheng was instantly gripping the angel’s lapels. “What do you mean have we met?!” As if bottling anger for decades, it spewed from his mouth like poison. “You didn't say that to my shixiong did you?! He died in such a pitiful way and you didn’t even reunite here?! Are you telling me you…you-?!”
“Enough.” Lan Wangji frowned and pulled the other’s hands away from his lapels, stopping the man's angry rambling. “I have a memory charm sealing memories I carried here from earth. If we were companions there, I don’t remember.” Though, he’s not sure how he would have ever tolerated someone so angry like this.
A memory charm? Jiang Cheng froze too now, irises shaking. “Wait…I…If your memory has been sealed…He’s not here?”
“A-Cheng…let’s all calm down.” Jiang Yanli gently touched her brother’s arm, wanting to help him calm down and get information at the same time. “W-wangji, i’m sorry, this must be a lot for you. Do you know an angel named Wei Wuxian? Courtesy Wei Ying?”
The angel looked conflicted for a moment, the most expression he’d shown since they’d run into each other now, but he shook his head eventually. “There is no angel here that goes by that name. But maybe I missed him,” He adds, “Let’s ask Baoshan Sanren. She will know.”
· ✦ ·
The two siblings looked at each other and then the god, eyebrows furrowed with confusion.
“Baoshan Sanren.” Jiang Yanli stepped forward, swallowing softly. “What do you mean, A-Xian is not here? He died months after…” He glanced at the guard standing by the god’s side, the jade droplet hanging from the center of his ribbon glimmering in response. “...you know.”
The god frowned and slowly rose from her throne, flipping her sleeves and walking gracefully down the steps. “So this confirms it.”
Jiang Yanli stepped a bit closer, feathers fluffing up like a nervous bird. “Confirms-?”
 “Wangji.”
The jade straightened, eyes narrowing slightly.
“Gather a team of angels. You’ll need a tracker…” She held out a hand, which shifted into pinks and golds like sunset on the ocean, glowing with fractals as she lightly touched the jade bead hanging from his forehead. “Your memory is not safe to be released yet, but I have triggered something that should allow it to weaken in the correct circumstances.”
“What does this mean?” Jiang Yanli asked quietly, holding her hands together nervously. “A-Xian…do you know where he was supposed to reincarnate?”
“Here.” Baoshan Sanren held her arms behind her back politely, but her eyes betrayed her concern. “That means for many decades now he has been missing. I didn’t have a way to confirm it though because you’re the first of his family to arrive.”
“But…What about A-Xian’s parents?”
The god shook her head. “They have left the reincarnation cycle.”
Jiang Cheng’s hands immediately flew to his hair and he closed his eyes tightly. “What happened?? How could he have gone missing on the way??” He didn’t know actually what happened during the ascension, he wasn’t awake. Did that mean they didn’t just magically appear there?
Baoshan Sanren gently touched Jiang Cheng’s shoulder, a calm flooding over him like water on a burn. That…felt weird. He relaxed regardless, slowly releasing his hair and opening his eyes again. “My…my shixiong, where could he be?”
“The most likely possibilities are not good ones. But I have connections.” She smiled, only letting go of Jiang Cheng’s shoulder once he seemed much better. “Wangji is highly trained and I trust he can find him, but I will be getting into contact with those.”
Of course, she left out telling them about the possibility of him being taken into hell, despite the likelihood. If he had become a demon, there was no reversing it, but it was better than him being captured by other groups. if he was captured by demons, there was a much higher likelihood he was alive.
“For now, we will hope for the best.”
Lan Wangji brought his hands together in a salute, and left the throne room quickly to do as instructed.

The entire cultivation world time travel, except WangXian:
Wei WuXian didn't dare look at his cell phone clock, but from the minutes he spent walking he already knew he was late to meet Lan WangJi. The girl, who he discovered was surnamed Jiang after asking a few seemingly innocent questions, but didn't say much as they walked.
Jiang YanLi, "A'Cheng was acting crazy, he said horrible things, but I know you two can work it out."
As Wei WuXian wondered if maybe she was mentally handicapped with a family neglectful enough to let her go out unsupervised and maybe that's why she was lost, he try connected some dots in his head. The surname Jiang was familiar, but now he had noticed the nickname YanLi gave her brother.
For a moment, he just wanted to be silent instead of asking.
Wei WuXian, "Jiang Cheng?!" said loud, too shocked and fearful to avoid. It only made her glow grow.
Jiang YanLi, "Oh, A'Xian, do you remember?", she clapped her hands excitedly, not noticing that Wei WuXian was not at all happy.
Jiang Cheng was in the same class as Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi in his freshman year, but he was expelled for bad behavior. Wei WuXian never liked Jiang Cheng, despite not caring when he offended Wei WuXian, Jiang Cheng seemed to have an irrational anger at Lan WangJi and an uncomfortable disgust that he made a point of making it very clear when they were together.
Wei WuXian didn't want to see him again, even though he had passed years and didn't even know he had a sister. And to think they lived relatively close by...
Unfortunately, Jiang YanLi stopped him in front of a very ordinary house, "We're here! Don't worry, A'Xian, just smile and it'll be okay.", but he fought against her gentle tug, "A'Xian?" She blinked a few times for a smile that was clearly an apology.
Wei WuXian, "Sorry, my boyfriend must be waiting for me, I need to go now.", the movement to walk away from her was smooth, "You're home now and your family must be worried about you."
Jiang YanLi, "H...how? Boyfriend? Who...? A'Xian, you can't go!", she grabbed his sleeve, the weak grip was easy to dodge, but Wei WuXian didn't want to be impolite, " I... saved your life... and you...", Jiang YanLi starts crying.
Wei WuXian doesn't have time to say something and try to comfort her, when the door opens and Jiang Cheng appears. Wei WuXian simply and desperately wants to leave. His face disfigured into pure anger, not that Wei WuXian had never seen anger in Jiang Cheng before, but his face was grotesque.
He quickly walked out towards Wei WuXian. The quick steps were interrupted by Jiang YanLi, stepping between them.
Jiang Cheng was purple with rage, "Jie?! What are you doing?! After all he's done?! Because of him, you..."
Jiang YanLi took advantage of his silence for a moment, "I chose to save him, A'Cheng!"
Wei WuXian, "?"
Jiang Cheng, "And I chose to kill this traitor!! This must all be his fault!", the two, Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng, exchanged glances, "What is this place? What have you done now?!"
Wei WuXian, "??"
Jiang YanLi, "A'Cheng...you guys have to make up.", Wei WuXian didn't see her pleading eyes, "Please..."
Wei WuXian, "???"
The confusion in Wei WuXian's mind was a mess. He whimpered wanting to find Lan WangJi and felt that Wen Ning and Wen Qing would enjoy the gossip. At the same time he wanted to turn around and run away.
He should have done that when an adult couple walked out of the house.
The man wore a purple dress shirt, his appearance was peaceful despite the surprise in his eyes, "A'Xian?", the name makes Wei WuXian feel a strange feeling towards this man and also a familiar feeling.
Wei WuXian, "Uncle Jiang?", the face he saw at age 7, seriously talking to his father and laughing about something. A kind man who carried him on his lap and offered him sweets with a smile. He doesn't remember why they stopped talking.
The woman in purple, Wei WuXian assumed to be his wife, looked like a kettle about to explode. Her screams were loud and annoying, “Wei WuXian!!! You damn filthy brat!!”, her footsteps were efficient against Jiang YanLi, who flinched and walked out of the way. Wei WuXian wouldn't just stand there to see what she would do, so he turned his back and tried to run.
Something caught on his clothes.
Jiang Cheng, "Where do you think you're going?!", Wei WuXian struggled, this surprised the woman, who stopped in place. Jiang YanLi grabbed Jiang Cheng as if she didn't want to piss him off but wanted him to stop and listen to her silent request.
Jiang YanLi, "A'Cheng, stop! Let him go!", but Jiang Cheng wouldn't listen.
Jiang Cheng's father approached, "A'Cheng. Let him go.", the normally calm voice was authoritative, this apparently made his wife angry.
"You always defend him, don't you?! A'Cheng is your son, not this servant's son, FengMian!! Because of him we are dead!!!", so much going on, and suddenly Wei WuXian's cell phone fell out of his pocket. The lock screen photo is Lan WangJi, during one of their date.
Jiang Cheng saw the photo. Wei WuXian froze.
Jiang YanLi, "A'Xian... is this...?", when she looked at him, Wei WuXian just wanted to scream inside. A bad day to run into your homophobic ex-classmate.
Jiang Cheng, "What kind of shit did you do? Huh?", Jiang Cheng grabbed Wei WuXian's collar, the two glared at each other, "I knew there was something wrong with how you spoke to Lan WangJi-"
Wei WuXian knew where those words would go. He raised his clenched fist and slammed it hard into Jiang Cheng's chin. Wei WuXian continued to stand while Jiang Cheng sat down. From above, Wei WuXian looked at him angrily.
Wei WuXian, "Jiang Cheng, who do you think you are?! The next time you say something about my boyfriend, I'll kick your ass!!", the foul language and the blow startled the Jiangs, "And you.. .", he exchanged a defiant look with FengMian's wife, "Please respect my father!" Without looking back, Wei WuXian grabbed his cell phone, put on his hood and ran.
Uncle Jiang's wife screamed his name in a frightening way, but he didn't come back.

Short WANGXIAN fic
roommates to lovers, so much fluff
It started as a tweetfic, but I wanted to post it on here too. It's my very first fic to ever publish, so I hope you'll like it!
————— · ★ · —————
"Lan Zhan! Look!" We Ying almost yelled, jumping to the window. "It's snowing!"
Lan Wangji walked into the window too, peeking outside. Wei Wuxian was right.
"Mn. It is." he said. "Do you want do go outside?"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Wei Ying's laugh filled the room. "Let's go, now!"
So they went outside. It took them a few minutes, mostly because Wei Ying couldn't find his scarf and Lan Wangji wouldn't let him go outside without it.
Wei Wuxian looked at the sky, feeling snowflakes falling on his face and melting into waterdrops.
"Wei Ying."
Wangji's soft voice reached Wei Wuxian's ears. He felt Lan Wangji standing close next to him.
His eyes snapped open.
"Huh, Lan Zhan? Why are you so close?" he laughed, but Wangji didn't say anything, he just smiled.
It was rare to see him smile. Well, not that rare, if you're Wei Ying and you live with him everyday, but still rare.
"Your nose is red already. Be careful, you don't want to catch a cold, right?"
Ahh, Lan Zhan was always so considerate, so caring...
Wei Ying couldn't help but smile at him, his eyes sparkling from joy and the white snow around them.
"Don't you worry! And even if I'll get sick, you always take care of me..."
"I do. And I will."
Lan Zhan was such a sweet guy... Wei Ying absolutely loved his roommate.
He loved him so much, but... What would Wangji do, if he knew how much Wei Ying liked him? What would he do, if he knew how fast Wei Ying's heart beats for him?
He'd probably be disappointed. He'd probably even want to move out...
That's why Wei Ying didn't say anything.
That's why Wei Ying stayed quiet about it.
...
Until next weekend.
It was snowing outside, again. Actually, it was snowing all the time, which made Wangji think about his childhood. But the only thing Wei Ying was thinking about was taking Lan Zhan outside to build a snowman together. So they did.
At least they tried, because every time Wei Ying made a small snowball, he couldn't stop himself from throwing it on Wangji, and that's how they started playing with it until they both laid down on the ground, making angels in the snow.
It was getting late.
"Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying murmured, closing his eyes for a moment.
"Mn?"
"I... I like you."
This wasn't what he actually wanted to say, but at least it was something.
"Wei Ying, I like you too."
"Ah, I know, Lan Zhan, but that's not what..."
"Mn. I know."
What?
"You know... what?" he asked, now looking at Wangji, who was still laying on the ground, eyes unfocused, watching the clouds.
"I know," he said. "I knew it for a long time. I was just waiting for you. I knew that you are going to tell me when you're ready to."
Wow. Lan Zhan really was an angel.
Wei Ying could feel the blush painting his face red.
"So you know I like you??"
"I know. And as I said, Wei Ying, I like you too" Lan Zhan said, this time looking at Wei Ying.
"Oh, Lan Zhan! You could have said something, I just...!" words were leaving Wei Wuxian's mouth before he could even think.
Fortunately, Wangji stopped him, leaning closer and placing a finger on Wei Ying's lips to make him stop talking.
"Shh. I know." he said, repeating himself, but he knew, he always knew.
Now Wei Ying noticed a very delicate, but warm smile on Lan Zhan's face.
So he smiled too, even more.
"Ah, Lan Zhan!"
Lan Zhan took him into his own arms, hugging Wei Ying, holding him close.
"I like you, Wei Ying." he said again, this time right into Wei Wuxian's ear. "Let's spend the winter together."
thanks for reading!

Follow Your Arrow (Part 2): Jiang Cheng / Wen Ning
(Cloud Recesses Era, G, 2.6k, CW: non-graphic bird hunting, read on AO3)
Jiang Cheng and Wen Ning accidentally go to the same spot in the Cloud Recesses to practice archery.
< Part 1 (although this part can stand alone too)
* * *
Shooting at rocks in a waterfall is not Jiang Cheng’s ideal form of an archery competition. Wen Ning is closer to the waterfall, which doesn’t necessarily put Jiang Cheng at a disadvantage, but it does mean that Jiang Cheng has to see Wen Ning in the corner of his eyes every time he tries to aim. It's irksome. Jiang Cheng has always competed better when he doesn’t have to watch his opponent.
Not that watching Wen Ning affects his performance. Sure, Wen Ning is a decent shot. When he’s relaxed and his hands aren’t fidgeting, his archery skills might even be called impressive. The rocks blown to bits by his arrows seem to testify as much. But he's not that good.
Another rock shatters with the impact of Wen Ning’s shot. Jiang Cheng is still adjusting his aim when the periphery of his vision is filled with Wen Ning grinning to himself, and inadvertently his eyes wander over to the sight.
Yes, that’s enough shooting at waterfalls.
“Stop here,” Jiang Cheng says, lowering his bow. He straightens his posture once Wen Ning looks over in confusion.
“H-Have we finished the competition?” Wen Ning asks, leaning to the side slightly as if he needs to look around some barrier to see Jiang Cheng, even though the length of riverbank between them is unobstructed. Somehow that makes Jiang Cheng feel exposed, that Wen Ning is paying such careful attention to him.
“No,” Jiang Cheng says. “We’re not finished. Haven’t started, actually.”
All Wen Ning returns are wide eyes and a soft little “oh?”
“That was the warmup.” Avoiding Wen Ning’s gaze, Jiang Cheng slings his quiver over his shoulder and strides toward the woods lining the riverbank. “For the competition, we’re going to hunt birds.”
After a few moments, there’s a shuffling sound and scurrying footsteps behind him. Wen Ning catches up to Jiang Cheng just as they enter the forest, sidling up next to him. Jiang Cheng picks up his pace.
“Hunting birds?”
“You have a problem with that?”
Wen Ning stumbles as he tries to keep up with Jiang Cheng’s ever-quickening pace, but he regains his balance and appears back at Jiang Cheng’s side. “No. I just don’t usually shoot animals.”
Wen Ning's hurried steps beside Jiang Cheng keep him in the corner of his vision again. It’s irritating. Like a ghost Jiang Cheng knows is there but can’t fully capture in his sight. He stops abruptly and turns to face Wen Ning head-on so he can at least see the nuisance in his entirety. Wen Ning trips again, steadies himself, then clutches his bow in front of his stomach, his hands close enough together for him to nervously rub his thumb over one of his knuckles.
Jiang Cheng studies his scrunched posture, his pouty face, his long fingers curling around the bow. “Then it’ll be all the more of a challenge. You wanted help getting over competition anxiety, didn’t you?”
“I—y-yes, I suppose so.”
“Okay. Anywhere in this section of the forest is fair game.” Jiang Cheng gestures at the shady expanse of forest in front of them. “Meet back at the river. Whoever catches more birds wins.”
Wen Ning nods a little too eagerly, still staring at him.
Jiang Cheng rolls his eyes. “Go already.”
“Oh—oh.” Wen Ning hesitates for a few seconds, then bolts away.
Jiang Cheng scoffs. Weirdo. No wonder he gets along with Wei Wuxian.
That thought bites. Wei Wuxian has been fluttering from disciple to disciple nonstop since they arrived in the Cloud Recesses, gravitating farther from Jiang Cheng and revolving in tighter circles around people from other clans, like Nie Huaisang, who—if Jiang Cheng is honest—he doesn’t mind that much. But Wei Wuxian has also attached himself to this strange one Wen Ning, who of course also happens to be from an enemy clan. And Wei Wuxian has been clinging most of all to that insufferable Lan Wangji…
Anyway. Bird-hunting.
This choice of competition was intentional. First, it’ll let Jiang Cheng get Wen Ning out of the corners of his vision. Completely out of his sight. Wen Ning’s absence feels much better already. Second, he’ll be able to show off the birds he catches to Wei Wuxian and maybe squeeze out a few compliments for hunting an extra dinner for them, as well as get a rise out of Nie Huaisang for turning cousins of his prized avian pets into prey.
Following the calls of birds, he stalks through the forest, scanning the canopy of trees. A flash of wings on a branch to the left. He creeps closer, stringing an arrow and drawing it back. He sets his aim, gets the tension just right—
The bird plops to the forest floor.
Jiang Cheng’s arrow hasn’t left his bow.
His brow furrowed, he steps forward to stand over the bird and inspect it. Wen Ning arrives at the same time, holding his bow up guiltily. His arrow has been shot.
“What way to play is this?” Jiang Cheng shouts. “You have the entire forest! You can’t hunt the same birds as me!”
“S-Sorry…” Wen Ning looks down at the creature, his eyes downcast.
“Just, hunt somewhere farther from me! Okay?” Jiang Cheng says, trying to soften his voice and not succeeding at it.
Wen Ning is quiet for so long that Jiang Cheng’s throat begins to itch.
“Well, it’s just that…” Wen Ning finally says, only to trail off.
“What?”
“W-Well, if I want to become better at competing without feeling nervous,” he meets Jiang Cheng’s eyes, “won’t I get the most competition if I steal your shots?”
Jiang Cheng’s eyebrows shoot up. He reigns his facial expression back in immediately, but not soon enough, because Wen Ning is staring right at him when a traitorous heat flushes across his cheeks. “I’m not helping you that much! Go somewhere else!”
Wen Ning nods sullenly and walks away.
Steal my shots! The nerve! He shakes his head. These Wens are unbearable.
Wen Ning’s idea makes sense, of course, and his gut twists at the realization of how seriously Wen Ning is working to get an advantage over him. He didn’t expect he’d have to be on his guard this much.
Is Wen Ning only trying this hard because he wants to overcome his fears?
Most likely.
Jiang Cheng thinks that incident will be the first and last time Wen Ning shoots down a bird before he even has the chance to set his aim.
It happens a second time.
“Wen Qionglin!” He stomps over to where Wen Ning is hiding behind a tree and grabs him by the collar of his robes. “I told you to hunt birds somewhere else! Do you want me to shoot at you instead?”
“S-S-Sorry—”
Somehow, without noticing, he’s pulled Wen Ning closer. Or he's stepped closer himself. He lets go of Wen Ning’s robes with a shove, turns around and storms away because this time he is not letting the heat in his cheeks be seen. Especially since it shouldn’t even be there.
What is he so embarrassed about? That Wen Ning has been following him and timing his shots to land right before his own, at the exact time that would frustrate him most?
The answer rises into his mind unbidden.
He is embarrassed about that.
Dang it.
The next bird he targets, he resists the tingle in his fingers that urges him to rush through the shot and strike the bird before Wen Ning has the chance. Instead, he positions himself for the shot, slows his breath, steadies his arms, and drops his gaze away to scan the shadows in the forest surrounding him. The pest is bound to be around here somewhere.
His gaze settles on a dark spot in the bushes that seems especially unwieldy. Was that a pair of eyes blinking back at him?
He adjusts his fingers on the bow and arrow, builds up pressure in his back muscles. He'll change directions at the last second. Fire an arrow toward Wen Ning and give him a scare.
He draws—
Shing!
His head jerks up to follow an arrow that whirs past his hair ornament and lodges into a tree trunk behind him. His own arrow releases into the dirt at his feet.
Wen Ning shot at him first?!
"Wen Qionglin!" he bellows.
"I'm s-sorry! I didn't m-mean to—aaaah!" Wen Ning drops his bow in the grass and sprints away, because Jiang Cheng is chasing after him and Jiang Cheng is going to catch him.
All those times he chased down Wei Wuxian have proven useful. A matter of seconds and he's close enough to grab Wen Ning's arm and yank him to a stop. Unfortunately, Wen Ning is heavier than he expected. He loses his balance. Overshoots a bit. Falls to the ground and pulls Wen Ning on top of him.
"J-Jiang-gongzi!"
"Get off me!"
"Jiang-gongzi, I didn't mean to—"
Jiang Cheng is sick of being at a disadvantage, so sick of it. He pushes Wen Ning off, slams him into the ground beside him. He climbs on top and pushes Wen Ning's shoulders down, flattening the weeds underneath his shoulder blades.
"First you shoot at my birds, then you shoot at me?!"
"I-I didn't—that was an accident—"
"Oh, wonderful! Please tell me how that could possibly be an accident!"
Wen Ning stares wide-eyed at one of the hands Jiang Cheng is digging into his shoulder. A few locks of his hair, too soft, are tangled between Jiang Cheng's fingers. Wen Ning meets his eyes, looks down at his chest for longer than is comfortable, and back up to his eyes. Heat rises to Jiang Cheng's face again. This time he has nowhere to hide.
"I...I..." Wen Ning says quietly.
"You what?" Jiang Cheng's voice cracks on the word what, jumping to a pitch much too high, as if he hasn't already been humiliated enough today.
"I was..."
"Spit it out!" He shoves Wen Ning's shoulders down harder for good measure, but that only makes him blush more fiercely. He freezes, fearful that one more motion, one more twitch of muscle, and his face would light on fire.
"I was aiming at the b-bird above you and then..." Wen Ning tries to look away. But there's a person on top of him. Anywhere his eyes go is somewhere on Jiang Cheng's body, and that definitely does not make Jiang Cheng shiver.
"But then I was w-watching you instead of the bird, so my arrow..."
The rush of understanding is like a punch in the gut. Had the wind been knocked out of Jiang Cheng before this moment? Or is it just now?
Wen Ning was staring at me so much he ended up aiming at me.
What the heck.
What the heck.
He wrenches himself away from Wen Ning and plops onto his backside in the grass next to him, resting his arms on top of his bent knees, his mind fuzzy.
"Why?" As soon as the words come out, Jiang Cheng bites his lower lip and presses his mouth closed, clenches his jaw, but he's already asked. He hadn't wanted to ask that.
"Umm." Wen Ning sits up a bit, propping himself up on his forearms, still lying on the forest floor. His feet splay outward from each other. His fingers dig into the grass. "What are you asking?"
Jiang Cheng would sooner plunge one of his arrows into his own chest than explain what he meant.
"W-Well..." Wen Ning sits up fully now, positioning himself cross-legged in front of Jiang Cheng, like they're about to have a meditation session together. His hands are a little jittery and he stutters his words, but overall he looks gentle and calm, which should be impossible given what just happened. If Jiang Cheng didn't know better, he'd be jealous.
"I guess I just," Wen Ning continues, his eyes fixed down in the dirt, then lifting to graze over Jiang Cheng's face, "think you're p-pretty."
An arrow does plunge into Jiang Cheng's chest.
His heart races. Fights against the tightness constricting his windpipe. His whole body is going to burn up.
He really had to choose this word? Pretty?
Jiang Yanli is pretty. Wen Qing is pretty. Even Nie Huaisang and Lan Wangji are pretty. Hell, Wen Ning is pretty.
But Jiang Cheng?
Whatever mortified expression he's making right now, he can't wipe it off his face, and it's definitely not pretty.
He jumps to his feet. "That's—that's dumb."
Wen Ning gapes up at him. "It is?"
He just stands there with his fists clenched like an idiot.
Gods, why can't you just say something properly? Something nice. Why are you acting like this?
"You can't go around shooting arrows at people and telling them it's because they're pretty!" he says, trying to swallow the words back down his throat, but they come out anyway. "Who does that?" You do! You were going to aim your bow at him yourself!
"Oh," Wen Ning says, still sitting on the ground. He's started fidgeting with his hands. "Jiang-gongzi...should we finish the competition?"
"It's finished!" Jiang Cheng shouts. "You've already won, haven't you?"
"I have?"
Jiang Cheng sucks in a breath and turns his face away. "Clearly!"
Wen Ning stands up. He takes a step toward Jiang Cheng, then wavers and returns to stillness. "So what happens now?"
Jiang Cheng glares at him. "I'll...I'll..."
I guess I just think you're pretty.
It's humiliating. So much worse than when Jiang Yanli tells him that he's handsome. From Wen Ning it feels so genuine and awkward and nice and makes his skin boil and his body sink into the ground.
And Wen Ning really did perform well in their competition. During the "warmup" he was already nailing every two or three shots, and during the hunt in the forest—Jiang Cheng hates to admit it—he put up a challenge. For someone so outwardly meek, Wen Ning is plucky. After all, only one of them had caught any birds. If Wen Ning had been trying to impress him...it had worked. Ironic, embarrassing, that was, because Jiang Cheng had been the one trying to impress him.
"I'll treat you."
Wen Ning raises his hands and shakes away the offer. "Oh, no, n-no need to trouble yourself. I don't want anything."
"What?" Jiang Cheng scoffs. "Don't want my company?"
"That's not what I meant."
Jiang Cheng is ready to leave. He's ready to get out of the forest and far away from the aftermath of this cursed competition. They need to settle this now, because he's ready to leave, and absolutely not because his heart is fluttering.
"Wei Wuxian is bringing Emperor's Smile to our room tonight." He jerks the strap of his quiver over his shoulder and grips down hard on his bow, straightening his posture and raising his chin. "Either show up, or don't."
Wen Ning gives a small smile. "I-I'd like that, Jiang-gongzi. But...my sister says I shouldn't drink too much."
"Then don't drink anything. What do I care?"
""Okay." Wen Ning's smile grows a little bigger, and Jiang Cheng just about dies inside. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Jiang Cheng says, the words catching in his mouth a bit. He turns around before his face can betray him again. "You better show up."
Jiang Cheng heads up the trail to the center of the Cloud Recesses, his face burning, his archery skills insulted, and his lips quirking into a smile.

And lan Wangji... he's chief cultivator. He can't always wander around ... 💔💔
Guys ...
"As long as the sea is bound to wash up on the sand, and stars are above you, we will meet again."
Fuck it, that deserved cursives
I. Cannot. Explain. To you what I'm feeling right now
This this right here
I love it and I hate it
This kind of bitter-sweet and gentle and peaceful "until we meet again"
It hits so so deep
That's... that's life
A thousand "until we meet again"s, even to those you love most
And there is nothing more tender than a promise, we will!
And it fits! As bitter-sweet as it is! It's also so them! They've always kept each other go when they needed it. Because that's what you do for those you love. You let them go. :')
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guys ... I'm overflowing with emotion
OH MY GOD WANGXIAN 😭😭😭
"Way ahead of you."
He was!!! He was!!!
Always one step ahead :')
It's a promise! All of this! This whole ending! It's bittersweet and a parting of the ways, but every sentence spoken is a promise: "We will find each other"!!!
Guys ...
I'm crying so hard
This hits something deep in me
I'm not going to tell you half my life's story but "let go of what you love" is something I learned early and this hits EXACTLY that spot
But ... in a good way 😅
I ...
Again the sound I made when the big orchestral wangxian part ended and it was just wei Wuxian's flute playing was not human
I watched it without typing from there, quite frankly, partly because I was hiccuping, trying to hold in sobs
So what I'm writing now is after I've finished watching.
I honestly can't explain to you what I'm feeling now. That last scene ...
The flute playing into the silence ... already did so much to me
And then
And then
Tumblr media
And ...
I have no words
I still have tears in my eyes typing this, even though I took five minutes to get myself together
What I can't show in screenshot, but what took my breath away the most was the fact that Wei Wuxian stops playing just before the end of the song
It's the second to last note he's ending on and ....
The last note of Wangxian never gets played!!!
The song isn't over!
WANGXIAN isn't over! 😭😭😭
I ... I can't put into words what that did to me
I heard that last note that REALLY WASNT THE LAST NOTE and I gasped
Because it just klicked in that moment
Something in my head klicked that THIS WAS HOW THEY'RE TELLING US !!!
This song isn't over
This STORY, their story, isn't over!
And that silence right after the song didn't quite end it took my breath away
It's like the show is telling us!
The silence! THE SILENCE IS WHAT MATTERS!
Look at the space in between! Listen to the silence! Listen to that note that could not be played! This! This is what we're ending on! Listen!
I want to bow down to whover wrote and directed this show!
Guys! I don't know how the book ends (and don't tell me!!) But they took the fact that they can't make this romance "explicit" and made poetry instead ...
All of it ALL OF IT is a promise: "we will meet again", "way ahead of you", the song isn't over, "Wei Ying" ... it's all a promise
I'm speechless
I'm crying and I'm smiling and I can't stop!
And then, of course, that last shot
The one wwx is smiling at Lan Wangji outside the shot (because again, look at what we can not show you!)

I cannot even begin to describe how happy I am that his smiling face as he looks at lan Wangji is the last thing were seeing
I'm smiling. I have tears streaming down my face and I'm smiling. :')
And then EVEN THE THANK YOU NOTE AT THE END FITS THE THEME!!! 😭😭😭
"Thanks to the author, Mo Xiang Tong Chou for bringing the characters to life."
"May their wishes come true thereafter." 😭😭😭
"Until next time."

I ... I'm speechless

Thank you thank you thank you guys! (I might be a tat more emotional than usual right now 😅) honestly, thank you for the great discussions and your insights and reading my rambling and especially thanks to those of you who got me to watch this show in the first place. The Untamed, episode 42 - watching notes
I was up playing partygames over discord until 3 am yesterday, so I didn't get to watch another episode. I complained about it to my friends, which in turn made them complain that I sounded like I would rather watch my "gay chinese fantasy show" than spent time with them. I contemplated saying yes, but decided to keep my friend instead :D
And we were currently in the middle of a confrontation with Jiggy (as I've been informed he's called ... what? ^^) who apparently murdered his son to keep some secret, which with how this shows is going, I wouldn't be surprised is them going full game of thrones and ... you know what I'm talking about
Oh right, Su She is there
He's the Jin Zixun to my wei Wuxian. As in, I can never remember his name or why I should care 🤷‍♀️
(But thus time I DO remember who he is. That is, after lwj said his name ^^)
I'm so sure that jgy hit all evidence by now, btw
Okay, no. his wife is still there
Su She might be an asshole but his hair piece is gorgeous :D
What does it say about me that my first thought about that dagger was COOL!!! 😱😱😱
How dare you take Wen Qing's name in vain! 🤬
😱
I thought she'd stab him!!! Not herself :'(
I'm a bit surprised that with 5 cultivators in the room, no one does more to save her
Oh, JGY is a damn good actor!! I mean we knew that before, but now his apparent confusion and grieve for his wife seems even more (dare I quote lwj?) shameless
Lan Xichen, i know you love him but ...
Fun fact: In German, we call fake tears "Krokodilstränen". Literal translation: "crocodile tears"
That's what this is 😐
Especially about the nie Mingjue
Poor Nie Huaisang 💔💔💔
"Taking the head. Who in the world would have done such an insane act?" GEE, I WONDER ...
Sorry, I still find jgy fascinating, but this is so uncomfortable to watch, knowing at least part of what really happened 🙈
Tumblr media
Lord, give me the power to murder people with one gaze like Lan Wangji 🙏
This whole conversation is so supremely uncomfortable
I'm still unsure if Jin Guangyao really doesn't suspect that "Mo Xuanyu" isn't who he says he is or if it's just a very convincing act 🤨
Favourite trope: Hanguang Jun, Yiling Laozou's knight in shining armour
Tumblr media
First of all: Hot
Second of all: Lwj internally: DON'T YOU DARE FUCKING TOUCH HIM I ONLY JUST GOT HIM BACK AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN MADE OUT YET
probably
Also, for a split second there, you saw Jiang Cheng leap forward with a real look of concern on his face, like his first instinct was to help wwx himself 🥺🥺🥺
HE'S USING SUIBIAN AGAIN!!!
This feels so huge! 😱
I'm weirdly emo about a sword rn :')
His cover is blown of course
And him and Jin ling just had a good relationship :(
NHS, JL and JGY: How could it BE that this is Yiling Laozou???
Meanwhile Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng
Tumblr media
"With the right kind of sacrifice, it can safe one who was seriously injured." Is this another instance of "we can't say this it's necromancy because censors, but y'all damn well know this is necromancy because no one falls down a cliff and then lies there "seriously injured" for goddam 16 years"?
I'm all teary eyed at lwj not even hesitating to flee with wwx :')
Jin Ling 💔🥺
Fuck you Jin Guangyao for playing at his pain!!!
Tumblr media
Omg they're as good as holding hands!!! 😭😭😭
Of course, wax is pushing lwj away, OF COURSE. Self-sacrificing idiot!
That mask reveal was *chef's kiss* the drama! The gasps! The ... long-suffering "here we go again look" from lan Xichen :D
I LOVE IT WHEN LWJ SPEAKS UP!!
"You're wrong."
So simple. Yet saying so much: "I kniw him. I trust him. I chose this."
And OF COURSE Wei Wuxian gives him another way out
BUT THESE TWO FINALLY GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER AND COMMUNICATE THEIR THOUGHTS! FINALLY!
"Did you believe in me back then?" YES, I WAS JUST TOO AFRAID TO SAY IT,SO MY CONCERN CAME OUT AS ANGER 😭😭😭
And the single logged bridge again 😭😭😭 I adore that metaphor! And I love that they chose to show us the flashback. Because last time, wwx and lwj parted, took different roads so to speak, one the one of defiance, the other the one of orthodoxy. Neither wanted to part ways, but neither probably thought that they had much of a choice. But they did have a choice and they made it. And lwj has already expressed his regret over that. So here he is again, using his second chance without a thought.
Because lwj believes that wwx is right, MORALLY, so he will go against his clan, reputation be damned, and stand with the man he loves ... finally. He'll choose what they both believe to be right and walk with him "until it's dark" :')
And THAT'S WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS SO MUCH!! It's not just that "oh they're so cute and they compliment each other so well, they must be soulmates uwu". Most of all they share a common morality!!!
I'm so goddamn amazed at this ship! This is not I was thought I was getting when I boarded it, but goddamn it I'm loving the ride! 😭😭😭
And .. just, the look in Lan Wangji's eyes ... they have 50 swords drawn on them, but guessing from the look on his face and the softness of his gaze they might as well be at their wedding 😭😭😭
He looks like a man entirely at peace with his decision :')
Just ...
Tumblr media
Look
Tumblr media
At
Tumblr media
THEM!!!
They're holding hands in that last shot!!!! 😭😭😭
I'm absolutely floored at how utterly beautiful this scene is! "Romantic" seems too insignificant to describe it. It feels more like 42 episodes worth of love and pining and misunderstandings coming to their natural conclusion
My heart is so full right now guys :')
Very nice of these 50 people to wait for their moment to pass before attacking. Very considerate 😁
"Are we going to fight or not." "Too much talking" I WANT 50 EPISODES OF THESE TWO BICKERING!!! 😭😭😭
Jin Ling :'(
Noooo
No
Noooo
I don't know who my heart is bleeding for more here
Jin ling doesn't deserve to have to shoulder his parent's and uncle's pain :'((
All this supporting each other when injured? That's the good stuff
And those flashbacks ... wwx finally FINALLY realizes that lwj never hated him for his actions, he was afraid for him :')
Tbf,the guy has a sliiiight communication issue 😐
That quote about how lwj is at his side now that everyone else despices him!! That's it THAT'S THE SHIP!!😭😭😭
Oh, lwj took him back to cloud recess
I'm surprised he was allowed to, tbh
Ooh, so Mo Xuanyu knew something!
And... someone else must now know about him?
Also, I didn't realise that wwx still had a cut from the curse
I gotta take a moment to scream about HOW UTTERLY DOMESTIC AND AT EAS THESE TWO NOW ARE WITH EACH OTHER!!! 😭
XICHEN!!!
I should have known that the OG wangxian shipper would support them
But he still trusts Jin Guangyao. Not that I'm surprised
It's so weird to see anyone on this show in trousers btw 😅
"You're more than I can handle." Lol ^^
"You trust Master Wei, while I trust Jin Guangyao." Oh boy ...
I feel like this might be more of a confrontation than these two brothers had in their entire lives
Love me some detective-wwx
Poor Xichen 😔 he doesn't want to believe it
Somehow, wwx with a white underrobe makes me think "that's what he looks like when he and lwj accidentally swab robes" :D
Uuuh! The restricted section forbidden chamber!
So ... jin Guangyao somehow got this piece of music from the lan library?
But he's good! He's really good! He consistently uses others weaknesses and prays on them so that they act in a more extreme manner, but not so much that others would suspect foulplay. Case in point: nie Mingjue's death by anger and (more recently) the way he played towards Jin ling's feelings.
Aaaand another rather abrupt end in the middle of a conversation. That's one thing this show does not do well 😅
Anyway, I'm not complaining this episode send my shipper heart (BECAUSE I'M SO DWEP DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE AT THIS POINT) fly with joy!!
