Did any of you dress up in drag during World War Two?
“Wh—?” Florida chuckled, carefree, “Oh, no, soldier shows weren’t really our thing—”
He immediately dragged the Anon closer and lowered his voice.
“Who do you work for?” He interrogated quietly, “I thought we lost that photo album years ago—”
“We?” California, who was walking by, paused and looked up from her phone, “Who’s we? What are you—?”
“…I’ve said too much.”
With that, an expressionless Florida turned and walked away.
California stared after him for awhile, then looked to the others for an explanation.
“…What the hell did I miss?”
“Bah,” Louisiana waved his hand, “Ignore him. He’s just pissed that I wore it better.”
“What?”
“What?”

How would the tfp cons react to finding a pod fill with small and squishy sparklings (I headcannon sparkling looking like mashbellows blobs untold they grow giant size)
Love the concept of little bean sparklings!
Hope you enjoy the Cons reactions to the little beans.
TFP Cons reacting to finding a bunch of sparklings in a pod
For the sake of the story, the pod full of the beans conveniently landed on the Nemisis flight deck one night. A couple Vechicons had retrieved the pod at the orders of Megatron. He is fully expecting a magical relic of the past or some more Dark Energon… not a bunch of sparklings inside the pod.
Megatron
Oh, this is not what he is expecting… not at all.
“What in the Pit is this?!”--Megatron
“Those are sparklings my liege.”Starscream
“I know what they are!”—Megatron
His honest reaction would greatly depend whether or not he is on that space coke, I mean Dark Energon.
If he was on Dark Energon, the chances of all the sparklings surviving their first night would be slim to none. Not caring if they even survived. The only chance the sparklings would have of surviving is if the grace of one of the higher officials decided to keep them. Sadly, few would truly be up to the challenge.
If he isn’t on Dark energon, then he would be a bit concerned in why the sparklings are in the pod. But it is war after all and sadly this isn’t too out of the ordinary.
He would assign different Vehicon’s to different beans and have them all sent to Knockout and Breakdown for a checkup. He might think at first that this could be a waste of resources. But after a few days of seeing his troops with the sparklings, Megatron sees a boost in morality and a strange sense of hope in the ship. Hope that caused the movement in the first place. Hope that didn’t seem to come by so often on the ship.
He has ‘stolen’ a bean from time to time. Not even the Mighty Megatron can bend to the power of The Bean Eyes.
“Lord Megatron! I’ve been looking—what are you...?”--Starscream
Megatron mid cooing at a laughing bean.
“… You saw nothing Starscream.”--Megatron
“Understandable my liege. I will be taking my leave.”-- Starscream
Starscream
He is concerned about the sparklings, not that he shows it outwards though. Starscream had plans before the sparklings came along. He was on his way to try and overthrow Megatron and now he must do sparkling duties. The universe must be playing some cosmic joke on him.
“Pitiful thing. You probably don’t even know the first thing about being a Decepticon.”--Starscream
Giggling bean noises
“…Well, I suppose I could teach you. Yes, then you will pledge your loyalty to me!”--Starscream
“Starscream who are you talking to?”--Knockout
“None of your business Knockout!”—Starscream
As Second in Command he helps oversee the sparklings needs overall. As in the statis of their health, possible predictions for vehicle mode, who is their favorite Decepticon on aboard the Nemesis...
Like Megatron, Starscream has taken a habit of ‘stealing’ a Sparkling or two. Except when he has the beans, he tries to instill some sort of loyalty in preparation for his reign as Leader of the Decepticons. Which doesn’t seem to work well on Starscream’s part.
“Now repeat after me. Hail Lord Starscream.”--Starscream
Laughing Bean noises.
“Wow not even they take you seriously.”—Knockout
Soundwave
*Adoption papers processing*
While he also oversees the sparklings as Third in Command, Soundwave knows how to take care of others. He has been known for stealing the most sparklings out of the entire Nemesis.
“Soundwave do you have the reports taken—”--Megatron
Soundwave carrying five beans in his tentacles and two in each servo.
“…”--Soundwave
“… I’ll come back later then. Carry on.”—Megatron
He often plays funny little noises to make the beans laugh. Most likely the first on board to get attached to them. When he misses some of the beans, he will deploy Lazerbeak to go see if they are okay in their caregivers’ arms. Primus help the poor soul who decides to be mean or hurt the Sparkling. That is a one-way ticket to the moon.
“Soundwave! Respond! As Second in Command of the Decepticon army I order you—”
Recorded giggles plays
“… I give up.”--Starscream
Knockout and Breakdown
Oh… oh…
Why? Out of all the places on this planet, did that pod have to land on the Nemesis?! The ship isn’t exactly known for being a welcoming place, much less for sparklings. It’s not that the pair hate the sparklings, on the contrary.
The love seeing a bit of Cybertron untainted by the war. But now they have come into the war whether they liked to or not. Knock out while prides his finish, will put it aside while dealing with the multitude of messy sparklings.
“Hey no! Put that down! No! No! How did you even get up there!?”—Knockout
“Lighten up a bit Knockout. They’re just fine.”--Breakdown
“…There’s one about to fall off your servo.”--Knockout
“Ah!”--Breakdown
Breakdown has no problem getting dirty for the sparklings, hut is extremely anxious around them. He could accidentally crush them! He really doesn’t want that.
They don’t part take in the ‘stealing’ of sparklings, as they regularly come and go in the medbay. The pair both genuinely care for the sparklings and are a bit protective, especially if they come in hurt.
“Oh, Primus what happened to them?!”--Knockout
“I don’t know. I accidentally bumped into them—”--Starscream
“You bumped into them!”—Breakdown
Dreadwing
Oh, he loves these beans.
He is one of the few Decepticons with some kindness left and is not going to let bots like Starscream take advantage of them.
“I will be taking them today.”--Dreadwing
“It is my shift to look after—”--Starscream
“Consider this me taking your shift then Starscream.”—Dreadwing
He loves his time with the sparklings. He does a descent job in taking care of them. Makes sure all under his care are well and takes regular trips to the Medbay if something doesn’t seem right.
Besides Soundwave, probably the second in the ‘stealing’ sport. He tells stories to the little ones of life before the war and how the war would be over soon so they could all go home together.
“We are missing 5 of them.”--Breakdown
“Have you checked with Dreadwing.”--Knockout
“Not yet.”--Breakdown
“He probably has the rest.”—Knockout
Shockwave
He doesn’t do much with the beans.
Probably didn’t even know they were around until Soundwave came to the lab with some in his servos.
“…”--Soundwave
“… Explanation.”—Shockwave
Won’t interact with the sparklings much, not even if he has duty with them. Shockwave most likely built a crib to contain the little beans.
Does not partake in the ‘stealing’ of the sparklings.
It is illogical.
Predaking
What is this bean? Why is it so small?
He is confused at first seeing the sparklings, but once educated about the basics, he is ready. Does not matter if he is in his bi-pede mode or not, he is making sure all these beans are protected with his huge limbs.
Does not let them anywhere near Starscream.
“I order you to hand over the Sparklings beast!”--Starscream
“Did you hear something my tiny warrior? It sounded like a little pest.”--Predaking
“How. Dare—”--Starscream
Starscream is now shrieking trying to avoid the flames of Predaking.
He also plays and ‘steals’ them away. He is close ranking to Dreadwing on how often they get stolen.
“We are missing 7 of them!”--Dreadwing
“Where could they—”--Knockout
“Found them.”--Breakdown
Predaking napping in his dragon form cuddling a bunch of beans.
Soundwave snaps a picture that no one knows about.
Arachnid
Okay even if Megatron was on Dark energon, there is no way this Spider is going anywhere near the sparklings.
Point blank. She will not go anywhere near them.

Part 1/2 of a fic I wrote for @oblivionsdream based on their enchanting Jester x Knight pairing that I'm obsessed with. Can't think of a title... maybe for part two.
(The idea for this spawned from @oblivionsdream posting "Jester has also been present for a few of the injuries and in one case where they were both away from the castle he did his best to tend to the knights injuries himself" and I was like 'oooo I want to write that!' but then I needed to write the backstory of it and then somehow it was 1.5k words and I needed to sleep, so part two will incorporate the above quote ^)
Fic below the cut! Very vaguely suggestive language & flirting but nothing explicit or sexual.
There is not, strictly speaking, a good reason for the Jester to be tagging along on the King’s Guard’s latest mission out of the city. He basically invited himself, pleading with the King for a week and a half—following him down the corridors or pestering him while he oversaw the knights sparring in the courtyard—before he agreed.
“I could boost morale!” the Jester insisted one sunny afternoon, eyes flicking quickly over to the knight closest to him, definitely within earshot. Even with all the identical sets of armor in the courtyard, the knight with the white feather in his helmet (the knight the Jester had subconsciously begun to think of as his), was easily recognizable. “You know,” the Jester continued, eyeing the Knight as he spoke, “I could… entertain the troops.”
The Jester swore the visor of the Knight’s helmet tilted ever-so-slightly towards him at that. He grinned, and the King rolled his eyes.
“Why don’t you ask your knights if you’re not convinced?” the Jester suggested innocently, darting between his Knight and the squire he was sparring with. “He wants me to come,” he added, attempting to keep up with the Knight’s quick movements. “Don’t you?”
“Get out of the way before you get knocked out,” the Knight said ruefully. The Jester laughed, flitting around to the Knight’s opposite side—closer to the hand not holding a massive sword.
“Tell the King you want me on your quest,” the Jester urged, smiling wickedly as the Knight’s guard dropped ever-so-slightly, his visor-covered-eyes fixing on the Jester. The squire he was sparring with got dangerously close to getting a blow in before the Knight blocked. “Come on, I know you do,” the Jester taunted.
The Knight swapped his sword to his left hand, seamlessly blocking an attempted blow by the squire while not breaking eye contact (or, well, visor contact, really) with the Jester. The Jester made a mental note of the Knight’s apparent ambidexterity, which was ridiculously, unfairly attractive. As if the Knight wasn’t attractive enough already.
“You really have no business anywhere near a battlefield,” the Knight said.
The Jester rolled his eyes, darting back to the Knight’s non-sword side. “I won’t be near the battlefield,” he insisted, “I’ll just stay in your chambers and patiently wait for you to get back. Polish your armor. Help you relax after your long day.” He gave a small smile, letting his voice trail off suggestively and looking up at the Knight through his lashes.
The Knight stared at the Jester for a moment too long, and the squire’s practice-sword connected with his breastplate with a loud ding.
The Knight swore under his breath, retaliating against the squire with perhaps slightly more aggression than was strictly necessary for a practice duel.
The Jester looked back at the King, who was watching the events with a bemused smile.
“I’m not convinced,” the King said. “Seems like you’re distracting him.”
“I’m motivating him!” the Jester insisted. “Look how well he’s doing!”
He gestured to the Knight, who was beating the squire back with renewed annoyance.
“Hm,” the King said, watching the Knight for a moment. “I’ll consider.”
*****
Two days later, the Jester was packed and ready, sidling up to the departing group of Knights with his multi-colored carpetbag in one hand, and a snack for the road in the other.
The Knight, his knight, was tacking up his horse, a huge chestnut colored stallion with a feather that matched the Knight’s decorating its bridal.
“Go on,” the King said, nodding bemusedly towards the party of knights. “You can ride with Sir Augustine, he has the biggest horse.”
“Among other things, I’m sure,” the Jester said lowly.
The Knight turned sharply to look at him. The Jester’s breath caught. The Knight’s visor was up, dark brown eyes locking on the Jester’s.
The Jester might’ve actually said fuck out loud. He’s not sure.
The Knight snapped his visor down, familiar metal obscuring the warmth of his gaze.
“Jester is with you,” the King said, stepping between the Knight and the Jester, looking between them with an amused smile.
“Surely we can spare a fifth horse,” the Knight said, sounding slightly choked.
“I don’t know how to ride,” the Jester said innocently, having recovered quickly enough from his momentary loss of composure. “Horses, that is.”
The Knight inhaled audibly. The Jester smiled.
“Godspeed,” the King said, his smile turning resigned as he started back towards the castle.
The Knight just kept staring at the Jester, even as he looked around, scanning the other knights and squires on the journey with them.
“You really don’t know how to ride a horse?” the Knight said finally, his voice sounding ridiculously soft considering the battle armor it was coming out of.
“Never learned,” the Jester said truthfully. “My carriage rides are always paid for.”
“Of course,” the Knight said, a familiar note of bitter professionalism sliding back into his voice. “Well, right foot in the stirrup.”
“Er, right,” the Jester said, hesitating. “Which one is the stirrup?”
“Gods’ sakes,” the Knight muttered, and with absolutely no warning or preamble, brought his hands to either side of the Jester’s waist and lifted him off his feet as if he weighed nothing.
It would’ve been infuriating if it wasn’t so enchanting.
“Excuse me—” the Jester began, but the Knight set him onto the horse before he could finish his sentence.
“No time to teach you,” the Knight said, stepping into what the Jester now, belatedly, recognized as a stirrup and mounting the horse behind where the Jester was sitting. He reached around the Jester on either side, taking up the reins and silently nudging the horse into motion.
“We ride North until dawn,” the Knight said to the other riders behind them. “Then we break for the night and bear south in the morning.”
The Jester smiled to himself slightly as he realized the Knight was sitting up pin straight, leaning slightly back, avoiding all physical contact with him. A challenge.
“You can’t sit like that all day,” he whispered, turning his head to lean closer to the Knight’s helmet-covered ear.
“This is how I always sit,” the Knight said.
“Is it really?” the Jester asked, leaning back ever-so-slightly. Enough to brush against the Knight’s chest.
The Knight inhaled again, that soft, sharp sound that the Jester was beginning to strive for. He arched his back slightly, wiggling his hips.
“Stop that,” the Knight said.
“Stop what?” the Jester asked.
“You’re— you know what,” the Knight hissed.
“Honestly, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” the Jester said innocently, pushing his hips back once more.
In a singular, fluid movement, the Knight took one hand off the reins and brought it to the Jester’s waist, squeezing slightly, though not hard enough to be anywhere near uncomfortable. Warmth bloomed beneath the touch, and the Jester grinned.
“Stop moving,” the Knight said, lowly, close to his ear.
“Just relax,” the Jester said. “Stop sitting like you’re scared you’ll catch something if you touch me.”
“I’m not scared,” the Knight said crossly. His hand was still on the Jester’s waist, squeezing slightly as he spoke.
“If you’d rather I ride with someone else,” the Jester said, “I’d be happy to take my chances finding another knight.”
“No,” the Knight said immediately, too quickly, hand tightening on the Jester’s waist.
The Jester felt himself blush, and bit back a smile. “Fine,” he said, “if you insist.”
The Knight sighed in what sounded like annoyance, then shifted in the saddle slightly, pressing his chest to the Jester’s back and winding one arm fully around his waist.
“Happy?” he asked.
“Yes, actually,” the Jester said, definitely blushing now at the feeling of the Knight’s arm around him, and the faint smell of saddle leather and sweat in the air around them.
“Good,” the Knight said contentedly, settling into the saddle slightly more.
As they rode through the day, he would occasionally tighten his arm around the Jester’s waist, pulling him into his chest protectively in what the Jester was almost certain was a subconscious move. Not that he was complaining. The Knight’s chest was ridiculously comfortable, despite the armor separating them. Comfortable enough to lull the Jester into a trace, nearer and nearer to sleep the more miles they covered.
As the sky darkened, the Jester felt his eyes drifting shut, head falling backwards onto the Knight’s shoulder. He snapped back awake, stopping himself before he could truly fall asleep.
“Go ahead,” the Knight said.
“What, so I can fall off the horse and you can laugh at me?” the Jester asked, raising an eyebrow. “I think Ill stay awake.”
“You won’t fall,” the Knight said. And then quickly, into the silence, “I’ve got you, don’t worry.”
It was the Jester’s turn to exhale in surprise. He leaned back hesitantly, exhaustion pulling at him. Since when was riding horses so tiring?
“That’s it,” the Knight murmured, a self-satisfied smile evident in his voice, the thumb of the hand resting on the curve of the Jester’s waist rubbing absently over the thin fabric of his traveling shirt.
The Jester’s stomach swooped. He was blushing, he knew, again.
“So chivalric,” he murmured, and then fell asleep in the Knight’s arms.

Euron's Master Plan
something i recently realized about euron is that he wasnt always this unhinged. like, we know that he raped aeron and urri when they were kids, and that he has a crew of mutes with ships whose floors are painted red to hide the blood, and has raided all across essos, but the full-blown magically unhinged i-bring-forth-the-doom part of his character we see in affc and the forsaken is, by all indications a more recent shift. specifically it seems to have occurred after euron captured the four qartheen warlocks who were sailing to find daenerys and after he took their shade-of-the-evening, granting him visions that spur his actions in the main plot. so what is euron's grand master plan? lets see what his main actions were so far
Step 1. Hire a faceless man to kill your brother by giving the house of black and white a dragon egg (?)
Step 2. Get elected at the kingsmoot because you bribed everyone with gold and bcz all your competition is way tooo normal for the Iron Islands
Step 3. Capture your priest brother and a bunch of other priests of various faiths and lock them up in the bowels of your ship. This will come in handy later
Step 4. Give your other brother a dragonhorn, some ships, a suspicious mute woman, and a mission to fuck off eastward (to not bother you) and subtly hint to him that he can totally use the dragonhorn for himself and there wont be any negative repercussions ohh nooo
Step 5. Conquer the Shield Islands as a morale boost for your troops and as a launching point for capturing Oldtown. Impregnate Falia Flowers and let your unborn child grow for a few months
Step 6. Lure the redwyne and hightower fleet into the straits between the arbor and the reach, making them think theyve encircled you (parallel to when stannis actually did catch you in the straits in the greyjoy rebellion 10 years ago)
Step 7. Sacrifice the priests and Falia in an orgiastic blood ritual that will awaken krakens from the sea in order to defeat the reach fleet and leave westeros undefended by sea
Step 8. ???
Step 9. Take the iron throne
So it seems like euron's trigger for constructing his master plan was the discovery of the warlocks and him finding out about daenerys. euron wants to remake the world in his image according to the forsaken chapter, and for that he needs great power. so it seems like his plan is to use magic--the armor of valyria, of oldtown, and of dragons--to conquer the iron throne (at least based on aeron's visions in the discarded Forsaken chapter of Winds of Winter)

On June 6th 1944 Allied forces stormed the beaches of Northern France on what became known as D-Day.
There were no doubt many acts of bravery on that day when the tide started to turn against the Nazi regime that ultimately ended World War Two. I shall concentrate on one, but will also tell you about a German sniper that day and a wee tenuous brave Canadian.
‘Piper’ Bill Milllin landed on Sword Beach on the Coast of Normandy as part of the 1st Special Service Brigade in the second wave of the operation.
Pipers were banned from being on the frontline during the Second World War because of the number of casualties seen during the First World War. The enemy figured out that the piper helped boost morale to the Allied troops, and they were slaughtered because of this. This led the War Office to restrict their presence in camps as well as on the frontline.
Millin pointed this out to his Commanding Officer  Brigadier Lord "Shimi" Lovat  Fraser, hereditary chief of the Clan Fraser, who was a law unto himself. “Ah, but that’s the English War Office, Millin,” Lovat told him. “You and I are both Scottish so that doesn’t apply.”
As Bill Millin embarked from the landing craft and waded through chest high water making his way toward dry land, high above his head he carried his pipes, the only weapon he would need that day. Around him bullets flew, mortar shells exploded Bill_Millin1and his friends, comrades and countrymen died, but Bill carried onward.
It was what came next that made Bill Millin a legend! Lord Lovat, the Chief of Clan Fraser and Brigadier of the 2,500 commandos, instructed the 21 year old Bill Millin to fire up his pipes and play a tune to inspire the men. And with the five words ‘Give us “Highland Laddie” man!’, the Legend of ‘Piper’ Bill was born.
Amid the carnage and destruction Bill Millin played as he had never played before. While marching up and down the beach of Normandy, Millin played the tunes ‘Hielan’ Laddie’, ‘The Road to the Isles’ and ‘Blue Bonnets over the Border’, and at one point added ‘The Nut Brown Maiden’ for a redheaded French girl who had strayed out of her home.
The day would see Millin and his unit march four miles inland to a point known as Pegasus Bridge, which was a strategically vital point for the German 21st Panzer Division. D-Day was the turning point in the Allies’ battle against Hitler and ‘Piper’ Bill Millin stands a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice made by ordinary people in extraordinary times.
Facing the soldiers coming ashore that day was Horst Hrubesh, German machine gunner, he too can be seen as a hero of sorts, if you read the poem he penned, I will let you decide;
Scottish soldier play your pipes
Even though your in my sights
Just like me you have a wife
I aim above your head
For full five minutes i fire up high
Keep my bullets up in the sky
No mad piper, you will not die
I will not lay you dead.
Now at my Nazi captains call
He wonders why you do not fall
They drag me from my post in haste
Another gunner i am replaced
In a cell now i await
Whats sure to be a bloody fate
Jack boots stamp across the yard
By my cell with windows barred
Soldier friends i stood beside
Now gather in a long straight line
Blindfold no i did decline
To see their faces full of guilt
As they take my life for i shalt not kill.
Horst Hrubesh was German , but not a nazi, he paid the price for his act on D Day.

The third person to get a mention today is James M. Doohan who landed ashore at Juno beach. Later that day se would be shot 6 times, survive and go on to become Scotty on Star Trek.
Doohan was a commissioned lieutenant with the 14th Field Artillery Regiment of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, and was tasked with invading an area of Normandy code-named Juno Beach. As the meme states, Doohan successfully led his men across the beach littered with anti-tank mines, and also managed to take out two German snipers:
Lieutenant Doohan was however not shot by a German sniper. He had been shot by a nervous, trigger-happy Canadian sentry.
Doohan said. "We landed safely, thank God, through those Y-shaped steel barriers you see in the film, tracer bullets, all that, none of our men hurt, and dashed 75 yards to the 7-foot tall dunes," Doohan said.
"Crossed a minefield, found out about it later: It was meant to blow up tanks, and we weren't heavy enough. Moved up through a down - hardly a town just a village - called Graye Sur Mer, saw a church tower that was a machine-gun post, firing off to our left.
Doohan took out the machine-gun post with a couple of shots. "I don't know if they were killed or wounded, but it shut them up," he said.  The Canadian soldier later said he didn't notice the gunshot wounds in his legs until he got to the medic who told him;
'You also have four bullets in your left knee.' I said: 'Well, I walked here.'"

Dark Side
Yandere Male Sith x GN Soldier Reader
Warnings:Death (not reader), unhealthy relationships, mentions of stalking, torture
The sith empire had launched its third attack on Coruscant, hoping to once again destroy the Republic's capital. The Sith Civil War had recently ended after Darth Malgus was killed by the Emperor's Wrath. The Emperor, to boost morale to the citizens of their empire, ordered that Coruscant be taken. That is what the Emperor's Voice claimed, anyways.
Y/n had risen the ranks in previous battles, taking Kashykk back, defending Naboo, and helping the divided Alderan people during a skirmish that luckily did not turn into a civil war; they were now a commander. They led a small battalion of soldiers, and now only needed to listen to the Jedi General. The General assigned to them was Jedi Knight Milo Cortez, a great duelist but arrogant. His arrogance almost caused the loss of Naboo and the soldiers under his command when ordered a charge on a well defended fort. Only due to the quick thinking of Y/n, who led the remaining troops through the forest and launched a surprise attack on the imperial camp, were they able to win.
The empire had amassed a massive navy; 20 destroyers, 3 capital ships, and 14 carriers. They would easily overwhelm the current Coruscant navy. The Imperial fleet was under the command of Darth Dread, a Formidable sith who had not yet lost a conflict. He had killed his master within a week of being an apprentice, killed his handler during the selection process, and killed a darth who he believed was keeping the empire from winning the war on Daantoine. He was awarded the title of Darth after he lead a major victory on Tatooine, which left the republic Influence on the planet as non-existant.
The main Battle would be on the surface. The Emperor's voice states that the emperor wanted to capture the capital as intact as it could be, so it could become a symbol of the empires strength. That is why Darth Dread was chosen, he preferred beating his enemies with better tactics and skill rather than just bombarding them. Unfortunately, that meant that Y/n's platoon might run into him.
Y/n's platoon had been there by chance, having only gone to receive a mission and so that Milo could brag about his glorious victory of Alderan (which his efforts made the situation worse.) He was astonished to see that Y/n was made a commander, as he viewed them as nothing but a distraction from his own greatness. Why did there need to be a commander, when he was the general? Regardless, Milo viewed the upcoming war as a great way to flex his greatness. Y/n viewed it as a incoming Republic massacre that they were not ready for. When the first republic ship was destroyed, Y/n immediately ordered the senate tower to be barricaded. They ordered their troops to get in position and recommended that Milo be ready to duel Darth Dread if he arrives. Milo scoffed, but took the order anyways; defeating Darth Dread would surely make him a master, maybe even a council member.
Darth Dread, still on his ship, watched the barrage of lasers being shot from his ion cannons towards a Republic Cruiser. He turned to his deck hand and gritted his teeth in anticipation
Darth Dread:"how many troops has our spy reported?"
Shiphand:"Not many, the Republic was not suspecting an attack. Only the Coruscant guard, a few jedi, and a platoon that arrived by chance."
Darth Dread:"tell me about the Jedi and the platoon."
Shiphand:"there is four Jedi Knights and one master Jedi. The platoon is a small incursion force, meant to launch attacks when least expected, fortify undefendable positions, and help with violent political issues. They are lead by a Jedi Knight named Milo Cortez and a Trooper named Y/n that was promoted to Commander when they arrived."
Darth Dread:"I have heard of this platoon, the recent loss on Naboo infuriated my former Apprentice who lead the battle. He complained that the Commander defied the idiotic Jedi and won the battle. The Jedi should be easy to dispose of, but I want that Commander, alive. Their tactics might be good use to the Empire."
Shiphand:"yes my lord."
Darth Dread stared at the planet surface. He had killed his apprentice after the battle of Naboo. The commander that outsmarted his apprentice intrigued him. His apprentice was not one that could have been easily bested; so maybe the commander, if force sensitive, could become his new apprentice. Otherwise, they could be his new deckhand. His current one was growing lax which allowed a rebel fleet to escape while he took Tatooine.
Y/n was busy preparing the defence. One entrance, no exits, only retreat would be to random senator chambers and offices. The Republic could not hold this position forever, but they could go down swinging. If Y/n had to guess, they could easily kill 20 Imperials for every republic soldier lost. That was, of course, if Milo did not screw anything up. Milo had grown jealous of a fellow Jedi who had been crowned the Hero of Tython, and now Milo would do risky maneuvers that looked grand to hopefully boost the publics view of him. He wanted to be as famous as the Hero of Tython, if not more.
Y/n didn't have their normal weapons on them. They left them on the ship, as no weapons were allowed inside the senate tower unless you were a coruscant guard. Luckily the armory had more than enough blasters, but Y/n's custom blaster rifle and revolver were still on the transport. The troops around Y/n were nervous. They knew that they would die, but they still bad a small amount if hope that a counter attack could appear before then. Y/n knew that would not happen. The largest issue with the republic was that each planet had the complete control of their own troops and ships. No one would risk their entire defense just so Coruscant could be saved. Coruscant would have to be retaken after this battle was far over. They were going to be left to die.
Darth Dread had taken his personal transport to the surface, where most of his troops had already landed. His army matched the coruscant guard nearly 10 to 1, and on top of that; the guard was mostly on the lower levels of coruscant. Darth Dread marched his way to the senate tower and noticed the entrance was barricaded. He drew his lightsaber, igniting it into a dark crimson. He twirled it in his hand a few times before thrusting it into the barricade. He dragged it the the ground before pulling the blade out. He walked a few steps back, turned, and thrust his hands forward. The barricade split into two and flew from the entrance. No republic troops stood behind it, but he noticed a Jedi stand and ignite their blade into a bright blue. Darth Dread could feel the arrogance and feeling of superiority of the jedi, and Darth Dread smirked. He turned to the troopers and noticed the commander with their arm up, signaling a "hold your fire" command. He felt a strong hatred in them and the troops towards the republic that left them to die. He announced to the troops
Darth Dread:"anyone in the platoon lead by Commander Y/n can live if they lay down their arms. I respect Y/n's ingenuity and would like to offer them a job. I shall not kill or allow the death of anyone who does not fire a shot at me or my soldiers."
Y/n paused, but as they opened their mouth to respond, Milo spoke up
Milo:"MY troops will not listen to the words of a sith. They are loyal to me and only me. Surely you have heard of me, as I am the one who leads these troops. Face me, and meet your demise sith."
Darth Dread looked annoyed, his yellow eyes gaining a bit of fire orange in them, before he smirked once again
Darth Dread:"General Milo I presume, my spies were right about you. Arrogant, Boastful, and Jealous. Not the traits of a jedi. You are the only one I shall not spare. Now then, I am asking your troops if they wish to live."
Y/n looked around at their troops. None of them seemed to want to fight. Y/n knew these people, none of them cared for the republic. They joined because they were conscripted. Now they were being left to die by the republic they were supposed to protect. While Y/n did not agree with the empire, or how they allowed the sith to run amok, Y/n did know that Darth Dread was a man of his word. One of the few sith that actually made moves to end the war. While working for the empire would mean doing bad things, it meant they wouldn't have any bad thing happen to their troops. Y/n looked around one last time before peering over their fortification.
Y/n:"My troops have no loyalty to the republic, Jedi, Sith, or Empire. They only have loyalty to eachother. That will exist no matter who they serve. If you give your word that no harm shall come to any of us, I'm sure my troops will surrender. However, I shall only join if you promise that you shall lead us personally. I do not want my troops going to any other sith or officers."
Milo looked shocked, then rage filled his face. He pointed his blade towards the direction of Y/n. He began to walk forwards when he felt a shift in the force. He quickly turned and narrowly blocked the blade of the sith. Darth Dread didn't even glance at Milo, staring at Y/n. He spoke, not putting effort into the fight with the struggling Milo.
Darth Dread:"I give you my word that I shall personally command your troops. Once I have dealt with this jedi, I shall bring you aboard my ship."
Y/n nodded, and without saying a word, began to walk towards the exit. All of their troops followed. All of them had seen the worst of the republic. The republic, before the war, was better than the empire. However they had become corrupt, and allowed this nearly thousand year war consume the entire identity of the republic.
Milo was shocked. His entire platoon had just betrayed him. He clashes his blade against Darth Dread's, who was deflecting and blocking blows while not even looking at the fight. He just watched the platoon leave the tower. Darth Dread turned as the last troop left and smirked. He thrust his blade towards Milo's leg, who barely blocked. Milo took a step back and deflected another blow. Milo realized how truly weak he was at that moment. It was taking nearly everything out of Milo, yet Darth Dread had not even tapped into the force to aid him. The blades clashed once again, Milo's arm slamming into the wall as the force of the hit was to much. He quickly regained his footing, while Darth Dread only watched.
Another Jedi entered from one of the offices. They had been guarding the senator from Mon Calamari, but had decided to join the battle when they heard the clash. The jedi was a Master, which was shown by their robes. They drew a green blade and leaped into the battle. Upon the entrance of the jedi, Darth Dread drew a second Saber. It ignited a deep amber, and he held it up in time to block the strike. He backed up so both jedi would be infront of him. He was finally going to use some effort.
Darth Dread flicked his fingers forwards, launching a barrage of lightning towards Milo. Milo was to slow to respond and was hit by it. He was launched into the wall and had to take a second to regain his breath, limbs still twitching from the electricity. Darth Dread quickly engaged the master jedi, striking quickly and powerfully. The master stayed on the defense, but was slowly being backed into a wall. Milo rushed forward and attempted to strike Darth Dread in the back. Darth Dread lept into the air and landed behind Milo. Milo noticed he only had one blade and heard a sharp gasp behind him. A amber blade was stuck in the master's chest.
Dread saw an opening as he leapt, and threw his Saber into the masters chest as he reached the maximum height of the leap. The master, not expecting this, took a fatal wound. The sith now looked only at Milo, who was shocked. Milo grew angry and charged at Dread. Dread ducked under the blade, extended his arm, and called his still ignited blade back to his arm. Milo did not see this, to blinded by his emotions, which only ended when he felt a sharp pain. He glanced down, eyes widened in shock and pain, and saw the same amber blade glowing out of his chest. The saber fell to the ground, the blade retreating into the hilt, and Milo collapsed to his knees. He dropped his Saber to the ground as Dread walked to him. Dread simply glanced for but a moment, before kicking Milo over. He grabbed both his and Milo's blade, turned and left. He ordered his troops to execute every body that was still in the senate tower, other than his spy; the senator from Coruscant.
The remaining battle took only a few minutes before every senator on Coruscant was dead. Luckily for the republic, only 8 senators were stationed there. Y/n's troops waited for Dread's orders as he approached. Y/n spoke first.
Y/n:"My lord, what are our orders?"
Darth Dread:"your troops shall enter the transports. You shall follow me."
The troops saluted and walked to the sith troopers and the transports being boarded. They were welcomed with open arms as the sith troopers celebrated the major victory. Y/n followed Dread to his personal ship. Dread turned to them and began to explain.
Darth Dread:"I have heard of you and your achievements. You were able to catch my former apprentice off guard, which is not an easy task. The reason I spared you and your troops is that I respect you. I have felt a power emanating from you, and feel that I should train you. You shall become my apprentice. Please remove your helmet."
Y/n, shocked, slowly nodded and removed their helmet. Darth Dread, upon seeing their face for the first time, felt something pleasant. Something they had not known before. They had an attraction to Y/n. Surely this would pass, the sith thought, and he turned and motioned for Y/n to board the ship.
A few years of training passed. Y/n had learned the basics of the force and was surprisingly powerful. Not as much as Dread, but they far surpassed Milo and most Jedi/sith. Dread was a strict teacher, but felt his attachment grow stronger. His obsession began to fuel his powers more than his anger, and he had unknowingly become stronger than even the immortal Emperor. The emperor felt this, but was unable to do anything about it. He sent his wrath, who was quickly slain. He tried to drain the force out of Dread, which failed. His only hope was that Dread did not wish to engage him in combat. Vitiate was already hidden, but his fear grew every day that Dread grew in power. He ordered that nobody in the empire was to remove Y/n from Dread, as he feared that Dread would destroy the universe.
Dread, meanwhile, had noticeably gotten softer to Y/n. He no longer tortured them, allowed them to sleep for far longer, and refused to injure them during spars. He still did not allow them to win the spars, but he would not harm them. Y/n would often feel the force presence of Dread when they were supposedly alone. This was due to Dread feeling a need to watch his love. While he viewed them as beyond attractive, their personality is what created this strong obsession. He needed them. He craved them. Soon nothing would stand in either of their way.
Dread walked to the bridge of his ship, turned to the deckhand and gave the command.
Dread:"make way to Korriban."
Dread had one last obstacle in his way. He needed the war to end so he could indulge in his obsession fully. He was going to destroy the republic and the empire.

you mentioned that carnot went behind the others' backs to wage a war of conquest, would you mind talking about that a little more? i don't know that much about carnot and his war opinions but i would like to! thank you for your excellent posts :)
Before discussing Carnot's actions during wartime, it's essential to understand his political journey, as it inherently shapes his conduct during conflicts. He exhibits a true weathercock attitude, common among politicians of his era (and persisting today), although not as extreme as someone like Fouché.
Initially allied with the Girondins on war-related issues, he maintained this stance while also voting for the King's death, similar to the Montagnards, and advocating for progressive taxation. Personally, I view his alliance with the Montagnards as opportunism that persisted throughout his life, unlike Couthon, whose allegiance to the Mountain seemed more genuine, but this is solely my perspective. His ideas of war of conquest to better pillage, they will be constant throughout his life.
Later on, Carnot found himself at odds with Saint-Just, particularly regarding wartime strategy. Contrary to popular belief, Carnot could be more decisive than Saint-Just in matters of punishment even if Saint Just established army discipline with others.
While Carnot did a decent job in terms of armament, the ideas of Saint-Just and others significantly contributed to improving the army and securing victories. Saint-Just's encouragement of fraternity among soldiers, requisitioning shoes from aristocrats to distribute to barefoot soldiers who fought without shoes, and his equal treatment of generals and soldiers, instauring fraternity , and the courage to put himself in the front on the front line which earned him admiration including his enemies like Marc Antoine Baudot, boosted troop morale.
Moreover, there was a replacement of generals genuinely motivated to ensure the army's victory because some generals with affiliations to royalists, aristocratic backgrounds, or little sympathy for the Republic lacked the commitment to save France. Carnot failed to address these issues, despite opportunities.
One might argue that Carnot's physical presence in Paris to coordinate operations was necessary, but his interference with specialists on the ground hindered progress.
Regarding the question of Fleurus, a significant victory for the French Republic, Carnot's actions trouble me deeply. He demanded a reduction in Jourdan's army by 18,000 men, issuing the order behind Saint-Just's back, with plans for these troops to serve under General Pichegru and plunder Rhin. Saint-Just intercepted and canceled the order, preventing a potential defeat at Fleurus. These actions occurred without the knowledge of his colleagues deputies who advocated for French armies to remain within natural borders.
To support my claims, here is an excerpt from Saint-Just's last speech:
"In the absence of this member, a military expedition, which will be judged later because it cannot yet be made known, but which I consider insane given the prevailing circumstances, was conceived. Orders were given to draw, without informing me or my colleagues, 18,000 men from the Army of Sambre-et-Meuse for this expedition. I was not informed, why? If this order, given on the 1st of Messidor, had been executed, the Army of Sambre-et-Meuse would have been forced to leave Charleroi, perhaps to withdraw under Philippeville and Givet, and to abandon Avesnes and Maubeuge. Shall I add that this army had become the most important?
The enemy had brought all its forces against it, leaving it without powder, cannons, or bread. Soldiers died of hunger there while kissing their rifles. An agent, whom my colleagues and I sent to the Committee to request ammunition, was not received, which would have flattered me had he been, and I owe this praise to Prieur, who seemed sensitive to our needs. Victory was necessary, and we achieved it.
The Battle of Fleurus contributed to opening up Belgium. I desire justice to be done to everyone and victories to be honored, but not in a manner that honors the government more than the armies, for only those who are in battles win them, and only those who are powerful benefit from them. Victories should therefore be praised, and oneself forgotten'".
Strangely, whereas Saint-Just spares Billaud-Varennes even if he critize him, Carnot is rightly put back in his place for his actions. He should have been at least fired to the moment when he make order on the back of his colleagues for this such action . In these period generals could have been executed for less than that. General Hanriot ( mistreated by history too), who effectively contained Parisian excesses through persuasion and not repression ( indication of good competence) , opposed Carnot's plan to strip Paris of his gunners, indicating Carnot's interference in matters beyond his expertise. I admit it was a free tackle against Carnot that one.
Skipping over the events of the Thermidorians, Carnot's adept political maneuvering aligns him once again with the right and its wars of conquest were able to continue being free from any important opponent in this matter during the period of Directoire. He becomes one of the five directors, earning the nickname "Organizer of Victory." However, this title is both pompous and false, as Carnot's contributions were not singular. He carried out violent repression against the Babouvists and accepted Napoleon's pardon, serving as Minister of War under the Consulate, despite his opposition to the creation of Napoleon's empire and was marginalized for it within the government. During the Hundred Days, Carnot's weathercock attitude contrasts with Prieur's steadfastness, ultimately resulting in his exile without ever returning to France because of the statut of regicide ( too bad that the punishment was the same for Prieur). Why am I more indulgent to Prieur than Carnot?
I mean that Prieur opposed Napoleon and his coup d'état on 18 Brumaire to the point of being dismissed immediately. It seems that he mainly adhered to the hundred days of Napoleon for fear of a new restoration of the Bourbons. Carnot accepted the title of Minister of the Interior and was made a count. Big difference for me.
In conclusion, Carnot's conquest wars cost France dearly, morally and pragmatically, potentially favoring the emergence of a military dictator, the end of the French Revolution and facilitating the restoration of the Bourbons. It's regrettable that he didn't heed his colleagues' advice on this matter. This is solely my opinion, and I apologize to Carnot's admirers ( once again it's okay to contradict me) . All information provided is drawn from sources like Albert Ollivier, Soboul, etc. You can explore revolutionary portraits on the Veni Vidi Sensi website for further insights.
P.S.: Thank you for the compliment on my posts; I strive to offer the best insights drawn from historians and contemporaries.

Non tickling related, but I’ve been watching back through a bunch of old Erwin content people have put out there, and I’m in love with the dichotomy of his character. He’s a sociopathic killing machine and a dad at the same time and I think it’s incredibly funny.
Like, he would for sure send a whole troop of soldiers to their death if he thought it would in any way, shape, or form help their mission against the Titans after having brought that same group of soldiers a puppy several days before to boost moral.
Lose an arm, walk it off, scrape your knee, come here champ let me put a band-aid on that boo-boo for you.
I feel like this applies to Levi too. He would send him out on a mission that promises almost certain death without blinking and then get mad when Levi doesn’t take his cold medicine.
“I don’t care if it tastes gross, we need our strongest soldier in fighting shape”
“Last week you had me kill a Titan with two broken legs and a concussion”
“You won though? 🤨”

“You know, I really hope this boosts your morale.”
You sigh, a millisecond away from snapping at the infamous Captain Kaeya. “What does?”
“My bare chest.”
Pressing the dressing deeper into the wound on his thigh, you bind it tight enough to feel his muscles tense under you. “Captain, please refrain from making inappropriate jokes at this time. You nearly died.”
He’s right that his bare chest looks wonderful in the dim light in his tent, but it would look better without the fresh wounds and splattered blood from the hillichurl camp he’d just quelled. The one he went into single-handedly before someone caught on and sent a troop after their captain as backup.
“I really didn’t, my beloved healer.”
“Captain.” Perhaps reminding him of his position would help minimize his foolhardy behaviors. Perhaps it won’t. “Don’t.”
He hates that word on your lips. For weeks, he thought he’d prefer this. That he’d prefer anything but his name on your lips, because hearing you call him Kaeya - or worse, Kai - made him too giddy for comfort. Now that you’ve fulfilled his wish, he wishes there was something else you would call him besides Captain.
Will he ever be satisfied with what he has?
The silence may kill him sooner than the many wounds he sustained, so he says the first thing on his mind. He says, “Did I look hot today too?” and regrets it the moment your eyes darken.
“You looked a fool, is what you looked like,” you tell him, moving on to dressing other wounds laced across his torso. “Were you trying to die?”
“Would you have mourned me if I had?”
“Most of Mondstadt would have, yes.”
“Would you?”
“I don’t see why it matters to you what I think, Captain.”
“Why do you keep calling me that?”
“Your title?”
“You haven’t called me Captain in nearly a year.”
“No reason. Just realized that perhaps I was letting my emotions get the best of me.”
“Is this about last night?” He winces as you drop all your instruments with a loud clatter, standing up with clenched fists and thinly veiled anger in your eyes. “Hey,” he says softly. “No need for that.”
He reaches out to touch your wrist, but you firmly step back, out of his reach.
“Maybe you’re used to this, Captain, but I’m not. I know we were both drunk last night, but don’t you think you were unfair?”
“Unfair?” His eyebrows quirk in a dark kind of mirth. “I hardly think a kiss for a beautiful woman is unfair.”
Curtly, you retort with a raised eyebrow, “You kicked me out immediately afterward and told me to curl up next to Diluc.”
Kaeya laughs a little. He remembers exactly what he said. He wasn’t as drunk as you thought he was, and every word was a calculated move to push you away. “He’s your best friend, no? A safer bedmate than the absolute snake I am.”
“Kaeya!”
His name rips through the room like a knife through a veil. It jolts him out of a pained stupor with wide eyes.
“Kaeya,” you repeat, and his name hurts almost more than the mess he’s made of himself on the battlefield. “What happened? We were okay before this. What changed?”
“An excellent question from an excellent mind.”
There’s no way he’s telling you the truth. How pathetic does he have to be to admit that he’s letting Diluc get in the way of what he wants? To admit to the list of wrongs he’s committed against the man he used to call brother?
Perhaps he ought to admit to less terrifying things first. Things like - “Have I told you I heal better when you do it?”
“I am assigned to you for a reason, Captain. I am the best there is, as far as you’re concerned.”
Ah. There’s that title again.
“Right. You know my body better than anyone… in more ways than one.”
That’s not what he meant to say, but he’s never been any other way. It’s not easy to be vulnerable, especially not to you. He knows that in the depths of his person, there are things that could drive you away. Despite his recent difficult demeanor, he doesn’t want you all that far from him. It’s been said now, though, and as always, he must reap the consequences.
“We have never shared a bed, Captain, and if you would like to imply that we have…. I have other injuries to attend to. You seem to be doing well enough.”
“You’re leaving me, then?”
“Yes.” But when you finish packing your supplies and look at him again, you see the tiredness in his one uncovered eye. The acceptance of something he clearly doesn’t want to accept. “Are you…?”
“No,” he responds quickly. “No, it’s okay. Thank you for your time and care. Come find me if Diluc is an idiot and causes you problems.”
And it’s a little too final for comfort, so you turn around and stare at him a little longer, arms crossed over your chest. “You’re hiding something from me.”
“I’m hiding something from everyone, darling.”
“This is about Diluc.”
“Everything is, isn’t it? What would Mondstadt be without his tavern? Barbatos himself enjoys his liquor.”
“Fuck, Kaeya, you know what I’m trying to say.”
And something breaks in him, and he speaks faster than he knew was possible as he says, “Yes, this is about Diluc. This is about me taking away everything he’s ever cared about. This is about me being his biggest curse; this is about how you are bound to die if you stay around me for much longer. This is about how I wanted to take down as many threats to your life as I could, and that’s what I was thinking when I stormed that camp alone. This is about how I want to do at least one good thing in my life - even if that one thing is ripping out my own heart and sending it away. So thank you, again, for your time and care, but you should leave now like everyone else does, and I can return to status quo.” With that, he flops back on the shoddy mattress and throws an arm over his eyes.
Whatever you expected from him, it wasn’t that. Sitting on the bed next to him, you tug at his arm until he pulls it away to look at you. Why are you still here?” He asks in a small, hollow voice.
“You seem to be forgetting something or deliberately not noticing. I’m fucking in love with you. Okay? So stop acting a fool because I’m already too attached to you for this kind of talk.”
“You’re what.”
“You heard me. You’re not unlovable, and the proof is that my hands shake every time I come near you. Because every time I patch you up, I calculate how far from death you are. Diluc thanks me for taking care of you every time, because as frustrated as you always are with each other, he never really stopped caring either. Do you even realize how many people ask me about your health whenever I leave your tent after healing you? Now close your eyes and sleep, loser. I’ll stay until then and continue my rounds after.”
He doesn’t know what else to do, so he curls up with his head in your lap and - for once in his life - follows directions.

I like to hc that Octavio's management decisions of the army inadvertently made like every single octoling a homosexual. Like after they lost the great turf war Octavio was like "Ok males get the fuck out you're genetically inferior to females in terms of physical strength" then after like 2 or so years of heavy propaganda he starts noticing strong and overwhelming homosexual tendencies in his troops so he's just like "oh fuck whoops welp can't fix this now"
heres the thing i think there ARE boy octolings in the octarian army but the "military standard" dress and hair style(s) are all as girly girl slay as possible so they appear more feminine. and octavio is like we need to serve HARDER so they boost morale by painting their nails and getting their hair done bc i think octolings share the "i need to be the hottest bitch at the turf war" mentality with inklings
this doesnt explain why theyre gay it just explains why they all appear to be girls. theyre gay because everyone is gay in the splatoon universe

Tulip - Steve Rogers
Tulip - an act of affection so blatant everyone notices - well, that's quite appropriate! 😁 I went a little afield of the prompt within the time I could allot to this, but hopefully you can still see the intent.
Extending her Mission
Just because Project Rebirth had folded didn't mean Peggy Carter was done with her mission. Once she learned that there was talk of sending Captain America to the European Theater to boost troop morale, she started making plans to give Steve the opportunity to prove himself. It just so happened that a USO tour was planned for northern Italy, so she forged orders to make sure their paths converged.
It seemed the fates were smiling - albeit grimly -- upon her plans; while Peggy was as distressed as anyone to learn that the 107th Infantry had suffered major casualties, she also knew that Steve had a very special connection to that particular division. He'd mentioned Barnes to her many times, always with a certain fondness that spoke to more than childhood bonds. It didn't take more than a gentle nudge to get Steve on his feet, asking questions instead of feeling sorry for himself.
Phillips couldn't have played his part better than if he'd been thoroughly briefed, giving Steve just enough hope while pricking at his pride all at the same time. He was ready to show the world the hero she'd always seen in him; he just needed a bit of help to get there.
It didn't take much to convince Howard to provide transportation; he'd been thoroughly disappointed at the shuttering of Project Rebirth, and although he barely knew Steve, he was reckless enough to want in on the plan.
Peggy's heart was in her throat when Steve jumped out of the plane and the following forty-eight hours were perhaps the longest in her life. But when she saw Steve marching at the head of a mass of former prisoners with Barnes at his side, she sighed with relief. It had been a successful mission after all.
Thanks so much for the prompt! If anyone else wants to play: Flower Prompts

enjoy some more wander au thoughts. i am no longer asking.
- TIES spends most of their time camping in the wilderness because its less saturated with zombies. they all have their own jobs each time they set up. they drag all of their gear with them everywhere, in a car that is only ever used for storage. her name is skynet and she is tango's terrible tinkering project that somehow ended up crooked(??) on her frame.
- tango is the only one who knows how to start fires without a lighter (he carries matches around. everyone else thinks this is both genius and very unwise considering how flammable his weapon of choice is), so that's his job. etho tries to make fire when he first joins them, but he almost dies and tango is once again affirmed as the only fire-safety-trained individual left alive on earth.
- skizz is moral support. hes rallying the troops. hes boosting morale. he is not avoiding doing work, he swears! really though, he bounces around between jobs when someone needs help.
- impulse gathers sticks for the fire, which seems like a small job until you realize hes dragging Whole-Ass Trees out of the woods to chop up. also the instructions for how to put up the tent have long since been destroyed and he's the only one who remembers them, so he leads the team in setting it up.
- etho is a little bit of a pack mule. just a little. he carries stuff to places and then sits back while everyone else figures out what to do with it. he frequently joins impulse in contests of who can find the biggest and dampest log for the fire, a pastime that tango does not appreciate.
- skynet has been rigged up to solar panels to keep her fueled. it is a nightmare of engineering. also only impulse knows how to drive at all, so if he's busy, theyre not going anywhere.

Do you think that other Jedi sometimes played Revan during the Mandalorian Wars, for tactical reasons?
Because Revan – Revan’s incredible grasp of tactics and strategy, Revan’s magnetism as a leader – was the Republic’s trump card but Revan couldn’t be everywhere at once. Some battles needed to be fought without the advantage of having Revan personally in command.
Tactically, you want your enemy to be working with as little accurate information as possible – your numbers, your positioning, your equipment, whether your supreme commander is on the field or not. If the Republic could trick the Mandalorians into believing Revan was somewhere Revan was not the Mandalorians would put themselves at a disadvantage acting on the bad intel – guessing wrongly about what the Republic forces’ primary objectives were, massing more ships and troops to oppose fake!Revan drawing them away from other fronts. They could even replicate the moral boost of fighting under the Republic’s best commander by using a double.
Maybe ironically, the one Jedi I am certain never played Revan was Revan’s best friend Malak. Partly because Malak was too tall, partly because Malak was much more useful to the charade positioned with fake!Revan to sell the illusion. Malak could definitely pick Revan out, regardless of outfit, so if he was standing next to somebody dressed in the full robes and mask calling them Revan then obviously that person must be Revan.
Two likely fake!Revan candidates could have been the future Jedi Exile and – after she was exiled and re-joined the war – Arren Kae. As Revan’s former Master, Kae’s familiarity with her old student’s speech patterns, body language, and other habits made her well prepared as an impersonator. The Jedi Exile was one of Revan’s more highly ranked and skilful subordinates; the command at Malachor V was not one you would give to an untried general, even one you were planning to get rid of. Fake!Revan would need to be in overall command of the forces under them to be convincing, even with Malak there to support them, so it was an assignment which could only go to Jedi with the tactical chops to handle that.
These charades would have been aided by – and contributed to – the general uncertainty surrounding Revan’s appearance, gender, and preferred pronouns.

‘Fred Astaire was the big card. All Paris has been talking of nothing else for a week...and wanting to see him’.
Fred was on a goodwill tour, supporting American troops and boosting morale during the Second World War. ‘He had been up in Holland and was expecting to get into Germany, but we hadn’t yet taken the town he was supposed to entertain in and he was needed back here [in Paris] for this show.’
Lee went on to write that Fred ‘misses his family like mad, and like every other GI thinks only of the mail, which keeps missing him by two days’ forced to march in the other direction. He was attached to a large unit (unnamed) which ordinarily would have been many miles behind the danger lines but was owned by a General who has fascinating ideas about being up where things happen. Therefore he was mixed up in all the types of strafing’. ‘Players in Paris’ manuscript by Lee Miller, Paris 1944 by Lee Miller © Lee Miller Archives, England 2020.
