Jellicle cats in the monstrous universe
So, Cats (whether the stage production or film is unclear) has been referenced in two separate Monstrous Agonies episodes, both times by The Understudy:

--best book in the world, it'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry, it is of course, Jellicle Cats Come Out Tonight: Queerness in the Jellicle Genus, written by Magical Mister Mistoffelees
Ep34 suggests rum tum tugger is believed to be fictional by some of the MA universe but that The Understudy thinks he’s real and a creature. Also suggests the stage play and maybe the film exist in the MA universe. Unfortunate.
Ep70 tells us there is a book about the Jellicle Genus written by Magical Mister Mistoffelees. This could be a pen name. This could be theatre or film analysis. I can hope. This could be a book by a member of a small group of MA universe folk that believe Jellicle Cats aren’t fictional (there is some hope here that theyre wrong). It could be a well respected study of actual (in universe) non-fictional Jellicle Cats.
If the Jellicle Genus is an actual thing in the MA universe, why. Also, do they look like normal cats except they have weird intricate karaoke rituals or are they fully the weird lil bipedal person/cat hybrid freaks like in the play and film? Did a Jelllicle Cat write the play? Did that guy observe Jellllicle Cats doing their thing and write the play? Are Jelllllicle Cats cast in the play and film or is it sapio/sapio passing folk in makeup/cgi? If sapios dress up as Jelllllicle Cats is that appropriative? Is it fucked up??? Are Jellllicle Cat individuals that aren’t actually part of the Jellllllicle group annoyed that the Whole Genus is named after that one specific london group? Or is it named after them cause actually they are the only group of that genus that exists cause london is a breeding ground for niche lil freaks?? [not letting myself go down a rabbit hole of all the fucked up niche lil guys there could be in MA london:(]
I don’t want answers to these questions, ive taken enough psychic damage just thinking about them, all I can do now is try to convince myself the MA universe Jelllllllicle Cats only exist in the play/film and the minds of The Understudy and the other people on the Jelllllllicle Cats discord servers that feel like they’d probably exist

my current diabolik theory is that that one guy in the first scene with eva who warns her that meeting diabolik means meeting death IS diabolik in disguise. my evidence for this is that only people who are diabolik in disguise (ginko and roberto) say meeting/betraying diabolik means death. i think he just likes saying that because it sounds dramatic

I’ve never had it happen where I’m watching Ghost Adventures and I know something they don’t about the location. Specifically the cemetery from the civil war right behind the Conjuring House in the woods. With a stone from the 1800s that has a pentagram superimposed on it, invisible to the naked eye but visible on infrared. They missed out by not talking to the annoying 20-somethings that linger around the house doing youtube videos. They know. They found it. They have extra info that would’ve been useful to this.

We sat on the beach squished on a small blanket. wrinkles from our shifting and creases beneath us from where we sit. We talk about everything and anything all morning. Not minding the grey overcast of the clouds covering the usually very blue sky. Or how the waves are more violent than they usually are. I know this because I remember it vividly. It wasn’t that long ago I was really there. Making sure it would last forever. Only now I wish I hadn’t because it haunts me more than it comforts me. And the entire way it played out still makes my heart ache with regret.
Somehow I end up with her lying over me. She lays her head in my lap, the thin blanket woven together with faint reds and oranges creating a little hammock for her to rest on. I can feel the way her heartbeats erratically over my thigh. The way her lip’s curl into a soft smile. The ocean reflected in her eyes. If it weren’t for the heavy eye bags and the slight tremble in her bones, she’d be normal. A normal girl with no issues. You wouldn’t even know how deeply her suffering ran. Sometimes, on the better days, I let myself become fooled as well. Playing dumb hurts less than facing the truth.
“Con.” Her eyes flick up to mine, and I can’t help the way my own avert her gaze. I am too afraid to face her. Even now. The girl who I worship day and night. I never did pray before her, but now I pray that when I wake up, she’ll still be beside me. And we can enjoy the company the other has to offer just one last time. I can’t look down and see how much she’s changed. It scares me, because the traces of the illness torturing her is evidence to how real it is. And I would rather live in oblivious bliss.
“I want you to know I’m not really scared anymore.” It’s not what I expected to come from her lips, but it’s what she lands on. Theres no room in her wording for me to deny what she’s trying to say. My eyes flick down to hers, and my hands moves the hair blowing in the wind messily across her face.
“Y/n, come on. Don’t say shit like that.” I smile, but I don’t really mean in. I don’t find her words funny, and I don’t like that my best friend is sick.
“No, Conrad. I’m serious.” She breathes out, hands pressing against my skin to lift herself up. I feel a chill run through my body without her warmth to ease the morning chill. More than that, I can feel the coolness in my heart when she separates from me, and I long for the next moment I’ll feel her gentle touch.
“I’ve had a lot of time to think about this and I’m certain that I’ll be okay.” I continue to look at her, but only this time, she is the one looking at the sand, tracing her fingers in it as they stretch past her ankles to the floor.
“And I’m only so sure because I know you’ll be there.” Her eyes flicker up to the sky and I swear I see the sky brighten for just a moment. The blue underneath all the grey breaking free for a split second. “I’ve known you my whole life, and I’ve felt things for you that I have felt with no one else. I know you, and I trust that you’ll come find me in the next life.” Pulling at her lip, she waits for a response.
“But I want to keep you in this one.” My hand finds hers and all I can do is squeeze onto her desperately. Wanting nothing more but to keep her close. So I can watch her. Make sure shes okay. She’s lost all of her fight, her will to stay. And I know it’s because of the pain. I’ve heard her sobs just down the halls and the hushed whispers of my mother and her’s. But part of me wonders if it’s simply because I did not do enough. If I wasn’t enough reason for her to stay.
“It’s like the tide going out. It goes out slowly, but it can’t be stopped.” And we both know it. Theres no stopping what will happen to her. Theres no wish or medicine or fight that could keep her here beside me. It makes me want to cry, but I don’t. It would be selfish of me to get so upset when I am still here. Well and alive. Promised many years to age and achieve things she never was given the chance to.
“I’ll stop it.” I don’t look down at her, but I can feel how she shifts. The way her frown only deepens and the bags in her eyes get heavier. She sighs heavily into the silence, shaking her head slowly. She refuses to cry though. Partly because I know she knows she’ll have plenty of time to cry in the darkness of her room, when the ache in her bones is too much and theres no way of stopping it. And the other part of me recognizes that it’s because there’s no reason to in her eyes.
Y/n knew it better than all of us. She had lived a good life. She could do things and want things some children could never even dream of. She had a warm home with a glowing fireplace that her family often gathered around. A loving sister and a great brother. Her mother and father were healthy and she had the best friends she could have ever asked for. Her only regret is that she had to make her own mother pick out the details for her headstone.
When I pull her into my body, I have no idea it will be for the last time. I have no clue that her sobs won’t part from her lips. Because when she closes her eyes, she doesn’t drift into her usual place of rest. Her eyes don’t flutter open at the soft creak of the stairs when Jeremiah decides he wants a late night snack. Nor does she stir when Steven laughs, following behind him not as skillfully.
Not even when her mother screams early in the morning, hands clinging to her limp wrists, cold and lifeless. The tears from my mother mixing with her younger sisters don’t even make her flinch. And it’s chilling because it almost looks like she was smiling. The lift of her lips is barely there, but it makes me feel better knowing she went in peace.
I remember that day more clearly than ever. How the grey sky haunts me and the way she spoke so surely about her death still sends chills through my veins. I could have only wished to have looked at her a little closer that day. So that even in her darkest moments, I could be as certain as she was that the image of her would never fade, and I would always be able to memorize each wrinkle in her skin.
So I tell myself that when it’s my time, I’ll do what she said I would. I’ll find her in the next life. And I’ll look a little harder at her, and I’ll admire her for longer.

ppl get upset when you rate films lowly bc of how the evident bigotry and prejudice of its creators influenced the film but like. if you as a storyteller fundamentally view some of your characters as less human than others, it shows? it shows you as a lesser craftsperson? sorry?
like when theres one woman in the movie and she has 3 lines of dialogue but you see her whole naked body and two guys are fighting over her and you learn nothing about her personality like... if you can replace that woman with a literal fancy lamp
thats just bad work.
like its just a fundamentally bad story if a main character has NO apparent motivation - not even no agency or whatever but its just like. why is she even here. why isnt she doing anything else?
like im sorry that you as a creator are super bigoted and that it makes you less adept at your craft than normal ppl but like. get over it? just stop being a bigot, its literally not even that hard. read a book. pissing yourself bc ppl mock your shoddy work won't help lmao

I know it's sort of on the nose (eye), but...
Let's talk about the heart(s).
I realize a lot of fans dismissed this as reaching recently, and so everyone sort of shut up about it, but I can't let it go. Especially when acknowledging what is literally happening on the show itself aka YOU'RE THE HEART, has convinced me that none of this is reaching. In fact, I'm certain that the heart imagery in the California poster(s) was intentional and intended to foreshadow requited Byler in ST5!
HEAR ME OUT!
The Duffers, when asked about the significance of the s4 posters, got excited, saying that it was indeed foreshadowing done by marketing, only to shut up instantly, steering the conversation elsewhere.
A little bit before season 4 actually premiered, fans got these posters as promotion and started noticing the hearts in the trees fairly quickly. So, this isn’t something that was only recently discovered well after s4 premiered. No, this was something fans caught onto way before 'you're the heart' was even a concept we were aware of. And I think there's a reason for that, in that it was foreshadowing what was still yet to come.

So, for starters, look at each of these trees individually…

They all look like your basic, run-of-the-mill palm trees. They have texture to them, which makes them fairly unique like trees often are. They were designed for the eye to instantly qualify them as trees.
These TWO below on the other hand, follow a different formula.

These trees look like hearts, point blank. They are much more defined into a shape than they are meant to look like realistic trees.
One heart is on the left and one heart is on right in this poster (smack dab where the rule of thirds lies, might I add). The left heart is a little bigger and therefore easier for the eye to catch first, while the heart on the right is a little smaller and therefore harder to notice, but it’s there.
Now get ready, because what actually sort of sealed the deal for me, is that it’s obvious these two trees, are the exact same.

Here you can see I reverted the right heart horizontally, and yep... They’re the same. Even down to the little detail of the small tree accompanying both of them. You can clearly see they are the same image, just copy/pasted, shrunk a little smaller and reverted horizontally.
So what does this all mean…?

Well, a couple weeks after Vol. 2 dropped on July 1st, after rewatching the van scene a bajillion times, numerous fans started to notice a heart shape in the light of Will’s eye. And once you saw it, you couldn’t unsee it, especially in edits that enhanced the quality of the scene and made it even more prominent than how it looked in the show.

But the thing is, the heart doesn’t stay there the entire time in Will's eye. There’s moments where it’s bright and clear as day, and theres other moments where it's just barely visible. And I think that was probably necessary, otherwise it would have been a little too obvious. But it's still just subtle enough, and within the context of the conversation literally happening on screen, YOU'RE THE HEART!, that it's... wow. It's beautiful.
Even more interestingly, similar to the posters, while there is a more prominent heart on the left, that being the heart in Will's eye in this scene, his heart is also accompanied by a second heart to the right, which is also slightly less obvious, but it’s there, and it's in Mike’s eye.

There’s moments where it’s bursting or, to even fit the context of the scene, ‘falling apart” (it quite literally falls apart the moment Will says those exact words).
Yes, Mike's heart is a little smaller, it's less distinguishable. And there's times when you can't really see it at all, just like Will's, but it's there, all while Mike looks, dare I say it, in love?!?
The van scene took over half a day to film, and a lot of evidence points to the fact that there is way more going on in this scene than meets the eye. (Like the fact that Will's monologue in the van parallels perfectly to Mike's monologue at surfer boy pizza...)

NO ITS LITERALLY ON THE EYES, YOU EVIL GENIUSES!
This, on top of everything else???? Like, Byler is so inevitable at this point, there’s seriously no room for doubts anymore.
I also want to add that, fans noticed Lonnie (Will's dad)'s car in the background of the main Cali poster, and we also know the actor who played him attended the table read for season 4. Which means that this poster has another element to it that confirms it's indeed foreshadowing what is still yet to come in season 5, not just season 4... So it's not a reach to theorize about the significance here of Mike, clearly walking towards Will, while everyone else is walking forwards. After all season 4 was just the beginning of the end. And the posters are confirmed to have hints pointing towards endgame...

spiritual exposure || c.b.
summary: when you join sam and colby on an investigation, the spirits expose something you’ve been keeping a secret.
requested by anonymous.
"are you sure you still wanna go with us? you don't have to if you're not feeling up for it." colby asked you. he and sam were about to embark on an international trip to film some investigation videos.
"i think i'll be good. i'm not having any symptoms just yet, and since i'm not showing, no one will ask any questions." you said. you had recently found out you were pregnant. despite this coming as a surprise, you and colby were both still excited for this next step.
along with the scary parts, your trip ending up being so much fun. katrina came along as well, so it was almost like a couples retreat for the four of you. sight seeing was a blast, seeing some of the most beautiful countries and scenery you'd ever seen.
today's investigation was taking place at a place sam and colby were referring to the "shadow man manor," it's real name being Llancaiach Fawr Manor.
"you feeling okay?" colby asked once you arrived. you and him stood off to the side of the car where you could talk quietly.
"my head hurts a little bit, but you know i always get headaches when i come on these investigations with you guys." you said. you were pretty sensitive to spirits, having had a decent amount of paranormal experiences throughout your life. you had a stronger connection than you would like, but it still made for interesting conversations.
"hey, i'm pretty sure we're not the only two people here!" sam called from the car where him and katrina were unloading the equipment. you and colby shared a laugh while you went over to help them get everything together.
as the night began, things were off to a pretty interesting start. your group began hearing noises and other things throughout just the initial tour of the home.
during the investigation, however, is when things started to amplify.
you were in a room of the house that reportedly was more active than most other rooms. sam hade the ovilus in his hand and as soon as he turned it on, it began throwing out words.
"MOTHER" “BABY" "INFANT"
"what is happening? there's no stories attached to this manor that had anything to do with a pregnant woman." sam said, turning the ovilus off and back on again to reset it.
"yeah, that's crazy." colby said softly, avoiding looking at you. he knew that you weren't ready to share the news yet, so he wasn't going to say anything. you, however, were scare shitless. you looked up at him, and he was staring down at the floor. his face was pale and his eyes were wide.
the night went on, and so many other communications and evidence captured contained mentions of pregnancy. you tried your hardest not to worry, and bring attention to it, but you were scared. you didn’t know what this spirit wanted from you, or how you were even going to finish the night.
you made your way up to the attic for to investigate up there. just as you began climbing the stairs, you felt woozy.
“you okay?” colby asked, pulling you off to the side. you took a deep breath and nodded.
“yeah, for the most part. all that shit earlier made me really nervous.” you said, placing your hand on your belly.
“me too.” he said, pulling you into his chest. he pressed a kiss to the top of your head as you hugged him tight. you slowly made your way up to the attic and things were pretty calm for the time that you were up there.
in the attic, you were feeling a heavy presence. it felt almost as if someone was sitting on your shoulders. you kept hearing what sounded like whisps of air moving past your ears.
“theres definitely something in here.” you said softly. katrina was standing next to you so she was the only one who heard you.
while you were in the attic, listening to the boys communicate with the spirit that was talking with them, you suddenly felt a warmth creep up your back. you shook it off as you being overwhelmed and let the boys finish their conversation.
“can we get out of here soon? i’m feeling very uneasy.” you said softly. it had been a while of no responses, so sam and colby agreed to leave the attic. once you got back down to the main level of the home, you all decided to take a little break.
“y/n, what is that on your neck?” katrina asked as she walked up behind you. she pulled down the neck of your shirt and revealed three large scratches that began at the base of your neck and continued down about to the middle of your back.
“holy shit, those scratches are so big.” sam sad. he snapped a picture and showed them to you, your eyes widening at the sight.
“what? what the hell?” colby asked, pushing he way to you between sam and katrina. “did you feel these?” he asked you. you just shook your head.
“no? i mean, i felt a little heat creep up my back, but i just figured it was nerves. they weren’t burning or anything.” you said.
“whatever spirit is here messing with y/n, you have to stop! you are not allowed to follow her, or any of us for the rest of the night. you cannot have her, or our baby.” colby spat. his finishing words took you by surprise. this definitely wasn’t the way you wanted to announce your pregnancy to your friends.
you looked over at sam and katrina, who both had shocked expressions on their faces.
“what did you just say?” sam asked quietly.
“y/n is pregnant.” colby said, turning to you. “y/n, im so sorry. i know you wanted to wait before telling people, but i cant just stand by and let whatever is hear keep hurting and threatening you.”
“its okay.” you said, on the verge of tears. this experience had scared you beyond words, and you honestly wanted the night to be over.
“i think we should call it here. we’ve got more than enough evidence and its almost time for us to get out of here anyway.” sam said softly.
you gathered all your things, and went out to the car.
“i know we’re not about to leave here without saying anything? y/n, you’re pregnant! congratulations!” katrina said, giving you a big hug.
“thank you.” you said with a smile.
“oh yes! congrats man.” sam said to colby. “you guys are gonna be the coolest parents.”
“and you guys area gonna be little one’s favorite aunt and uncle.” you said, placing your hand on your belly.
“we have to go celebrate. there’s gotta be somewhere we can go get breakfast.” sam suggested.
“oh i hope so. im so down for celebratory pancakes.” colby laughed.
you loaded in the car and made your way to a cafe you found that was open. you had a nice breakfast with your best friends, which ended up being a great ending to a crazy night.

not really enjoying tumblrs trend of comparing Thomas Andrews to Stockton Rush 😒Could you share how the two differ despite the fact they died by their own creations?
ive been trying to figure out how to tackle this ask for a few days now because theres so much to disentangle, but disentangle i will.
see, this comparison relies on common misinformation and misconceptions about titanic. its a ship thats been romanticised and mythologised for decades, and every portrayal of it from william randolph hearts yellow newspaper coverage to robin gardiners conspiracy theory to jim camerons film.
what im gonna list to disentangle this whole thing is by no means an exhaustive list of titanic misconceptions, only those relevant to this topic
-titanic was a cruise ship - titanic was an ocean liner not a cruise ship (ive detailed the differences in a different ask here)
-titanic was a brand new unique ship never seen before - not true, ocean liners had existed for decades. theres debate about which was the first, but many agree that its the ss great western which launched in 1843. titanic wasnt even the first launched in her class; that honour goes to the rms olympic.
-it was built with substandard materials and cut corners - this is one of those where theres potentially some truth, but its been misrepresented. theres some evidence that the rivets werent the best made, but the board of trade cleared the ship and she was built with the same materials and basically the same design as her sister ship, rms olympic which sailed for 24 years under the nickname "old reliable" and literally rammed a u-boat during ww1 when she was requisitioned as a troop ship. ultimately, the builders were not blamed in the wreck inquiry and the materials used were not substandard.
-it was built as said above due to the choices of j bruce ismay - yeah so this one obviously ties into the above. theres a lot of unreliable sources who seem to believe ismay oversaw the entire design and every cut corner was due to money. this simply isnt true and isnt how this sort of thing worked. white star had a contract with harland and wolff wherein they would build the ship agreed upon and when it was finished, it would be presented to white star and undergo sea trials, and during that time, white star could reject the ship if they considered it substandard. this is what happened to the ss city of rome. unles. the design itself was to be changed a la britannic after titanic sank (improving safety measures), white star could not interfere. ismay could not force them to use different materials.
-it was all ismays fault - okay, i could go on about this for a long time, but this ask isnt about ismay. the gist of it is that history has blamed ismay due to the influence of william randolph hearst (yeah, the guy from newsies and supported hitler) who hated ismay and blamed him entirely. actual evidence shows ismay helped a lot of people during the sinking itself.
-titanic was badly designed - ive kinda gone over this a little already, but again, titanic was not badly built. she was practically identical to olympic which was a fantastic ship. in the design, no risks were taken. most of the designs were enlarged versions of parts of previous successful ships. she was considered the safest ship on the sea. four of her water-tight compartments could be breached without her sinking which was a big fucking deal.
-thomas andrews was the sole designer - there was actually a team of designers that included andrews. he didnt even draw up the original plans; that was alexander carlisle.
-titanic sinking was a unique situation - yeah nah, boats sank a lot around that time. literally two years after, there was a similar disaster with the rms empress of ireland which goes entirely forgotten nowadays. in the same decade, you also had the sinking of lusitania in 1915, principe de asturias in 1916, volturno in 1913 and even thrown in princess sophia in 1918.
-the sinking was actually caused by a coal bunker fire - this is simply horseshit and im sure im gonna end up having to explain and debunk that one too
-the crew were taking unnecessary risks to win the blue riband - this myth is widespread because of the movie, but titanic was not trying to beat the record of the fastest ship from southampton to new york (thats what the blue riband) is; she physically couldnt. it was held by mauretania at that point with a record of 26.06 knots/48.26 km/hr. titanics top speed was 23 knots. white star as a line never focussed on speed and ismay never told the captain to speed up.
-she was "unsinkable" - this is a little harder to disentangle. the claim itself was "practically unsinkable", but the context of that was to do with how safe titanic was as mentioned above. also, the idea of an unsinkable ship was not quite to white star or harland and wolff; most of the shipping industry believed it.
-almost everything youve heard about the life boats - okay so here you need to throw out your preconceptions of what a life boat is because our modern conception does not match that from the early 1900s. to not get into all the details of life boat philosophy at the time (if you do wanna know, just send me an ask lmao), the main purpose of life boats at this time was ferrying passengers to a rescue ship. that was it. this attitude was informed by both the wrecks of the ss valencia and ss clallam, as well as the miraculous rescue of the rms republic. titanic did not have enough life boats for everyone because it was never expected for the passengers to be alone in the life boats for hours; it was not a design flaw, it was a feature.
-that fucking stupid ship swap myth and the idea that the crew were trying to sink the ship - i dont even want to get into why this is bullshit, plus ive also debunked it in another ask
i highlight all of the above to emphasise the fact that titanic was not a badly built ship. she was designed well, built well and sailed well. many experts agree that the way that she hit the iceberg was the only way she could have sank.
this is not the case with titan and stockton rush. in a previous post, ive gone over the design of the titan, the flaws in it and what experts in the field believe, so im not gonna go over it again, but rest assured, the titan imploded because of rush's actions and decisions.
titanic did not sink because of thomas andrews. its due to his design that anyone survived the titanic because she stayed afloat for over two hours which allowed the crew to launch all the life boats. thomas andrews himself helped many survivors during the sinking and evacuation.
he also was not a rich man using a gravesite as tourism; nepotism was certainly involved in his career but he spent ten years working his way up in the company, helping with the design of countless ships. he was mostly regarded as a good man who worked hard and recognised the hard work of others.
its honestly ludicrous to compare them because the disasters themselves are simply not comparable. the titanic did not sink because of the folly of rich men cutting corners; titan did.
thomas andrews, for any faults he had, knew what he was doing and built a good ship that was unlucky. almost every other ship he helped design didnt sink or if they did, most of them were due to ww1.
its just such a ridiculous comparison, and thats all it is. without the misconceptions and misinformation about titanic, the comparison simply falls apart. its built on a foundation that fundamentally misunderstands the titanic disaster.
if you want to talk about shipwrecks caused by stupid decisions made by rich men, go look up the last incarnation of hms captain or the gunilda or the fucking vasa if you want, you can literally go see that one. but dont besmirch the memory of a guy who, by all acounts, died a hero helping other survive.

Theres a tumblr blog on here who has seen the entirety of s2 before release and they said this:

Oh, my, Anon. Well, I do think I know the blog you're referring to, though I won't link to it/the post lest people run across any spoilers they are not looking for. But that statement doesn't surprise me one bit, though it is absolutely delicious to have that confirmation of what so many of us already suspected.
On a few points, I will note that they actually don't both have wives, as Anna is Michael's girlfriend, but they are not married. It seems to be a common assumption, however, but it is interesting that after four years and two kids, there doesn't appear to be any sign of a ring. I don't particularly think that that would stop Michael anyway, given his past predilections and the number of times we know he's dated/hooked up with/fallen in love with co-stars (Rachel McAdams, Kate Beckinsale, lots of rumors about Lizzy Caplan, even though I'm not certain that was ever confirmed).
The chemistry and sexual tension between Michael and David has been evident and incredibly powerful since the first season of GO, so I would not be at all surprised if they have fucked--likely multiple times, and likely long before now. This also ties into what I just discussed in my response to another Anon, about the possibility of a polyamorous arrangement between Michael, David, and Georgia. (I do not believe AL has ever been part of this arrangement, however, and I still do not think she is, for numerous reasons that I've cited previously on my blog.)
I wanted to end my reply here with a gif or picture of one of the countless moments of Michael and David giving "just had sex" energy, but I find myself going back to one particular moment from four years ago. One moment that probably most people wrote off as a joke, but that now seems to have been a forerunner to all that we've gotten since from Michael, David, and Georgia in the form of truth disguised as a joke:

And I absolutely believe that if Michael and David are lovers (and have been for a while), that is exactly what we'll see play out with their dynamic on screen in GO season 2. I truly can't wait to see it...

Oh sweet Annie.
I think we don't know enough about her. Annie is a victor in her own right, and we do NOT know enough about her. All we get is notes on how crazy she is, and fortunately, the depth of how Finnick loves her. Finnick, the most sought after man in the Capitol, has deep incredible love for Annie. I want her story, I want to know who she was before her games, about her life in 4. I want more on Annie. I want to know all about her.
Annie Cresta, even her name is so nautical (Cresting waves?? like how cool is that).
I don't think she volunteered. 4 is a career district sometimes, not always I don't think (could be wrong, but I know in the films Haymitch described 1 and 2 as the Career Districts, so my info is from that right now). I think she was reaped but got very lucky. To me, I've always sort of wondered if arenas were designed with certain districts and tributes in mind. Katniss and the woods so much like her home district. Annie..and the flooding Arena. Annie won specifically because she was the strongest swimmer. Only someone from 4 was going to pull that off. We don't know enough about Annie to know what her "career volunteering" skill would be, which leads me to believe she was reaped and then her skill was something she could have only developed as a 4 girl.
Her condition after winning the games is trauma. PTSD with severe trauma. People say she went insane, that she went mad. I think she had severe, unresolved, and untreated PTSD. She saw her district partner Beheaded in front of her, and frankly that would traumatize anybody. She panics onstage at the reaping because she could relive that trauma. I think she actually is representative of the trauma of the victors. We don't talk enough about the trauma of Victors, and I think she represents the culmination of what could happen, what happens when it's not addressed and treated. These kids come out as Victors and are paraded around and treated like queens and kings...but no one acknowledges these kids just watched 23 people died. Theres no therapy or counseling to deal with trauma, and I think Annie represents a significant and severe case of PTSD. I actually think all of the Victors have PTSD. I think it's evident in Katniss, Annie, Finnick, and Haymitch especially, but I do think it extends to them all. I think Enobaria, Gloss, Johanna, etc etc etc...they have trauma from their own games but also from watching their own tributes go in and die year after year.
Noone comes out of the arena unscathed and I think Annie exists as a caricature of that trauma. Everyone is one more kill, one more loss, away from Annie's madness.
But like I said. I don't think she's insane. I think she is traumatized.
Post Mockingjay?
Annie is a widow and single mother to a very young child. I can't imagine that was easy for her. I think she was at very high risk of post partum depression, Post Partum anxiety, and even Post Partum Psychosis, and I hope she had the support somehow that she needs. She would desperately need the support.
I think she keeps up to date with Peeta, Katniss, and maybe Johanna/other surviving victors from 13. Especially Peeta and Katniss, we know from the letter and picture she sends of him. I think they do visits a few times a year. Exchange letters on their children. They watch Finnick's son grow up and make sure he knows how remarkable and brave his father was. They support Annie since he is not there to do so.
I think knowing her son now lives in a world without the games helps heal her. She will never watch her son go through what she and Finnick did.
Most of all, I hope Annie received mental health support. She now has added trauma of losing her husband in a terrible way, and living through a war. Not to mention the Capitol torture she witnessed and faced herself. Annie has extra trauma to process now. I hope she has guidance and counseling like Katniss/Peeta get. I hope she gets help. She deserves it. AND she would be able to recover and move forward with joy.
Annie Deserves that.

i was thinking about wir fanfiction and how frequently gene is portrayed as being romantically/sexually interested in felix and men in general despite the only canon evidence being that he’s a felix fan (which has been shown to extend to the rest of the game as well)
obvs headcanons r cool and epic but its interesting that theres such unanimous agreement on a hated character’s sexuality who isn’t overtly queer-coded in the same way that king candy/turbo is. esp since the only major exception is gene x mary.
anyway so this poll is to see whether the modern wir fandom still views him as gay, and if the way he’s characterized/animated/designed/etc affects that perception. yeehaw

I’ve had the req for so long. Im glad I finally got round to doing it :D theres bound to be grammar mistakes in this but anyways enjoy ;)
Summary: Your wife is sick at work and refuses to go and rest. And so you’d been called down to set to convince her otherwise.

The loud sudden sound of a phone rang out and echoed through your trailer, slowly pulling you from your relaxed slumber. Reluctant to move at first, you annoyed groan at haven been woken up. The ringing stopped a moment later, letting silence fall back across the trailer, you shrugged and turned back over, praying that you’d be able to fall back to sleep.
Only a second later your phone rang again. This time you launched yourself up from the bed, sending your duvet flying off and with a loud huff you went off to search for your phone, mentally cursing whoever was on the other end.
Picking it up, you saw the caller ID was that of your director. You groaned, today was your day off which meant you no scenes to shoot that day, meaning there was no reason why he’d need to ring you, “Yes?” You answered with clear grumpiness.
“Hey Y/N. Sorry to call on your day off but it’s important.” You director spoke, his voice was evidently concerned, “We need you to come pick Lizzie up from Set B”
Your previous annoyed attitude slipped away at the mention of your wife, “Why? Whats going on?”
“Well, the thing is,” He paused, almost as if he had needed to watch his words, “Nevermind. Just- You’ll understand when you get here.”
What the hell was that supposed to mean? You rolled your eyes and walked back to the bedroom to change clothes, throwing on a clean pair of joggers and a tshirt. Before making your way out of the trailer and towards Set B.
On the way there you couldn’t help but wonder what the problem was and why it involved your wife. You’d both been living in the on-set trailer for about 2 months now as you filmed for the newest horror movie by Blumhouse productions and in your opinion everything had been going pretty well so far.
It didn’t take you long to wall down to the main building for Set B. You approached the door and pushed it open, letting yourself in. As you walked inside you could see both your director and Lizzie having a conversation , a conversation which neither party seemed to be enjoying.
As you got closer you heard the sound of your director’s voice, “Come on, stop being silly now, you’re only going to make it worst.” He sighed as he noticed your arrival, pointing up towards you, “Maybe you’ll listen to your wife instead.”
“Listen to me about wh-“ You began but stopped as your eyes rested on Lizzie, she looked absolutely awful, “Lizzie! Whats wrong?” You were at her side in a instant.
“Nothings wrong, I’ve said so about a hundred times.” Her voice was riddled with thick congestion, enough to make you cringe at the thought of how much discomfort she much have been in to have sounded like that.
“Oh no sweetie.” You sighed, realising why your director had called you here. Lizzie could be stubborn at the best of times but she had a tendency to get really uptight when she wasn’t feeling great.
Lizzie turned to cough and your mind began to race. How hadn’t you noticed earlier? You chided yourself for not realising anything that morning. Was she even sick that morning? What. Of course she was, nobody gets this sick this fast. You had lost yourself in your own manic thoughts, so much so that you hadn’t even noticed that Lizzie gave an irritated exhale as she began to walk away, stumbling slightly as she did.
“Goodness sweetie! You look your about to pass out.” You called after her as you came back to the present movement. Your arm coming support her tightly just above her waist.
“Don’t-“ She tried to pull away, “I nee- to- hH’iishhoo! HH’iiishiew! Hh-Hh’iptshhh!”
You could feel the force of her sneezes as she bent forwards, her hear ducked so tightly within her elbow, her whole body shook with the pressure of each one being released.
“Bless you” You said, feeling her try to pull away from your supportive hold.
“You don’t need to bless me, Im perfectly fine.” She lied, bringing her sleeve as she pressed it to her running nose.
“Lizzie you need to take the day off.” Your director said sternly, having watched the whole thing unfold.
“What I need is to finish doing my job. We’re gonna fall behi- Hh’tshhh! -Behind otherwise.” She argued back, turning to look back at him with her glassed-over eyes as she swayed woozily in place.
“No no baby.” You sighed, moving over towards her, “You’re ill.”
You saw Lizzie’s face drop further as you spoke, “I cant be sick. Im not!” She spoke bitterly, small tears ran down her cheeks as she sniffled into her sleeve.
“Baby, come here.” Your voice was soothing as you brought your hand up, wiping the tears from her cheeks before pulling her into a hug, whispering, “You’re okay. Its okay.”
You felt her let out another 2 sneezes, stifled hard against your shoulder and as she pulled away you couldn’t felt but notice just how fatigued she looked, she really did need to be in bed.
“Please, just let me finish filming for this scene, we really will fall behind otherwise.” She argued weakly, her voice becoming small as it took on an even hoarser tone.
You sighed, re-wrapping your arm into its prior position, “Everything will be okay. You’re sick Lizzie, its not your fault. You just need to come back to the trailer and climb back into bed.”
Your director gave you a nod as you began to slowly walk her towards the exit. You heard Lizzie begin to sniffle again as she stopped, letting her fall down ontop of your chest.
“But I’ve wasted everyones time otherwise! I cant be sick. I cant.” You could feel tears begin to drip down against the fabric of your shirt. It wasn’t a total surprise, whenever she’d get a fever she would usually get emotional and weepy.
Though you knew it was due to her temperature you still couldn’t stop yourself from feeling horrible, “No baby. No.” You shushed her, pulling her into a tight hug, her hand at the back of her head, “Nobody is going to be mad about anything. Its natural to get ill, nobody is holding that against you.”
It took 5 minutes of comfort for Lizzie to give a slight nod against you, pulling back to reveal her puffy eyes and running nose.
“Aw, sweetie, your nose is all runny.” You said, causing her to rub her sleeve against her nose, “Lets go.”
You led her to the exit, noting the shiver which ran through her body as she stepped out into the cool air, “Its not far now. Just a little longer then you can get warm.”
“Im sorry.” Lizzie sighed a moment later as she shivered, “I wanted to stay but that was so stupid, wasn’t it? God Im not even thinking straight!” My whole body is freezing but it feels like my heads on fire.”
You shook your head, “ It may have been irresponsible but you were never stupid. You wanted to work, that isn’t stupid but theres a time and a place for that. Being sick means you need to rest. Now, when we get inside I want you to lie down, how does that sound?”
Lizzie sighed and nodded in agreement, “I really don’t feel well…”
“I know sweetie, I know. You’re likely running a fever too.” You paused to press the back of your palm and wrist against her forehead, the heat instantly confirming your suspicions. Lizzie gave a small noise of relief at the feeling of your cool hand, so you decided to hold it there for a moment longer only Lizzie had suddenly pushed you away a second later.
“Hh’itshhhiew!”
“Bless you-“
“HHii’TSSHHIEW!” Hh-HeP’TSHH!”
“Oh honey bless you again, there’s tissues in the trailer.”
“Thank you.” Lizzie mumbled as she came closer to you, her hand coming to clutch yours. You weren’t far from your trailer now.
“Its okay, you don’t need to thank me for anything.”
Lizzie gave you a weak smile, pressing a small quick kiss on your cheek, “But Im going to anyway.”

Do you think Mike is already aware of his feelings?
yes!!! i totally do. the reason i believe this is because in s3 the majority of our byler evidence is technical cinematic choices like framing, blocking, color pallets, music, etc. but for s4 theres way more byler evidence that are directly from mikes behavior!!!
in other words, s3 queercoding had to be achieved through more film choices because he wasnt aware of his own feelings so his character didnt reveal that much to the audience. but in s4 a HUGE portion of our byler evidence is of mikes behavior towards both el and will, so he definitely became aware of his feelings some time within those 6 months apart from them.

in s3 these are what i think are the biggest byler evidence:

framing mike perfectly in the closet (this ones also a bit behavioral because he doesnt kiss her back, leaves his eyes open, and looks beyond confused after, but i think the framing is overwhelmingly the loudest thing here).

the huge difference in the aesthetic of the mlvn break up and bylers fight. they intentionally filmed mlvns as humorous, colorful, and unserious but for byler they had pouring rain, dark grays and blues, theyre alone, and emotional synth music plays after.

and consistently placing el alone and pairing up byler with the canon couples.
there is only one huge behavioral thing mike does in s3 that gives us a clue on what hes feelings and thats “its not my fault you dont like girls”. i think this was him subconsciously projecting but hes still unaware of his feelings or wills.

s4 byler evidence still has a lot of technical film choices, but we see WAY more evidence thats directly based on mikes behavior. he is well aware of his feelings and he doesnt know how to act around will or el because of them.
s4 mikes behavioral byler evidence:
the non hug at the airport.
there is NO reason for him to do this unless he is well aware of his feelings for will. he is terrified of being perceived as gay. this scene reminds me of the book the goldfinch where the main character who canonically has a lot of internalized homophobia refuses to hug goodbye his close family friends before he moves because it would “seem gay”. thats literally almost the exact situation here only its a greeting hug instead of a goodbye hug. that character later admits that hes in love with his best friend.
looking nervous when he asks about the painting.
i dont think people talk about this one enough. it was clearly art and mike has a whole binder of wills art at home. why wouldnt he be excited to see it? (because el told him its for a girl!!)
not calling will that much
why wouldnt he want to call his best friend since kindergarten who moved away? i think the ‘couple times’ will was referring to was before he realized his feelings and then he stopped calling him after he figured it out because he didnt want it to be true and he was trying to ignore his feelings.
“thats because shes my girlfriend will … we’re friends!! we’re friends.”
this one SCREAMS internalized homophobia. especially since will didnt imply anything romantic, mike interpreted it that way on his own. this one also goes hand and hand with the technical stuff because right after that line the track “in the closet (at rink o mania)” plays.
mike not telling el he loves her when its so blatantly clear thats all she wants to hear
if mike really loved her this argument wouldnt happen to begin with but the fact that it did and mike had the clearest opportunity to reassure el that he does love her and all he could get out was “youre being ridiculous. you know what i think of you. youre the most incredible person in the world.” yikes.
talking to will about that fight but not telling him “that thing” he couldnt say was that he loves her
he was comfortable enough telling will about the fight and that there was something he couldnt say but he blatantly chose not to tell him what that thing was. this one DEFINITELY tells me he is aware of his feelings. if he genuinely didnt know why he couldnt say it i think he would be comfortable asking will about it but he refused.

so yes i think mike is well aware of his feelings bc his behavior is so strange and different in s4 than any other season. i think while he was away from both of them he realized that he missed el the way he was supposed to miss will and he missed will the way he was supposed to miss el. and that freaked him out a lot. and as finn has said, he is just trying really hard to be normal (and failing miserably).
