ROTTMNT Character Fighting Style Analysis - Part 4: Donatello
Tumblr media
Hey! I’m back with my fight-style analysis! Sorry it took so long but we’re back in business!
This is a continuation of my first post about analyzing each of the Turtles' (+April's) fighting style, their strengths and weaknesses in a fight, and how Rise uses that to highlight different aspects of their character. I highly encourage you read that first before hopping into this one for full context. There is a bit of a TL;DR at the end.
[Part 1: Leo] [Part 2: Raph] [Part 3: Mikey] [...] [Part 5: April]
[Addendum] (Small addition to this analysis)
Next up on the stand is our dear Othello von Ryan aka Bootyyyshaker9000, aka...
Donatello: Striker/Support
Fighting Styles:
Categorizing Donnie's fighting style in Rise was surprisingly difficult as Donnie doesn't appear to have an easily identifiable pattern the way his brothers do. However, after I watched all the fights he's in several times over I've come to quite an interesting conclusion:
Unlike his brothers, Donnie doesn't have a specific fighting style - he has two.
Parry and Counterattack
Donnie's primary fight style in the show utilizes a more traditional combat approach (or as traditional as Donnie can get), utilizing his bo in combination with his tech to battle the enemy at close range. This fighting style is an interesting fusion of offensive and defensive techniques to create a style that caters to Donnie's strengths. It involves Donnie goading the enemy into attacking him with a series of swipes and jabs, then using a number of blocks and parry techniques to defend himself until he can find or create an opportune moment to create an opening and hit his foe with a devastating counterattack. While Donnie might not be the strongest turtle physically, his tech and proficiency with his bo make him a force to be reckoned with in his own right.
Tumblr media
Glass Cannon
Donnie's secondary method of fighting is one I would best describe as a "glass cannon" fight style. For those of you unfamiliar with it, the term 'glass cannon' comes from video games and TTRPGs and is used to describe a character that can deal a lot of damage, but has very little health and defense in return (think of wizard or ranged classes). "But wait, ‘Glass Cannon’ describes the attributes of a character, not their fighting style,” and yes, it does. However, in Donnie’s case, his fighting style changes in such a way that he becomes a glass cannon With this fighting style, Donnie tends to forgo the close-range, technical combat, instead more ranged attacks that rely solely on his tech. This is Donnie when he is fighting at his most offensive as these attacks can be VERY powerful and can deal a significant amount of damage, but they also leave him rather vulnerable. Donnie puts all his focus on dealing strong singular attacks, but if those fail, he ends up being more exposed to the enemy as his tech has very few defensive capabilities.
Tumblr media
Strengths and Roles in a Fight:
Striker
Donnie is the team's striker. His role in a fight is to deal powerful, precise hits against the enemy that are intended to quickly and efficiently defeat a foe. Both of his fight styles play into this role and both his Parry-and-Counterattack and Glass Cannon method are built to deliver strong, finalizing attacks. He is often seen entering a battle after his allies instead of charging right in (although he does sometimes do that - especially early on), choosing to be a bit more precise in who he fights, or joining an ally in order to provide that finishing blow if need be. His battleshell gives Donnie an aerial advantage, allowing him to swoop in unexpectedly and strike an enemy, or boost his speed and increase the strength of his attacks. While he is seen, on occasion, fighting outside of this role, he is at his strongest when filling the Striker position.
Tumblr media
Support
Donnie also fills the role of the team's Support and assists his brothers, April, and other members in a fight with the use of his tech (ha, get it - he's tech support). This is different than how Mikey supports the team as Mikey directly affects the enemy by disabling them, while Donnie supports the team by directly affecting those he's fighting alongside. Donnie provides numerous helpful gadgets with his tech that has a seemingly infinite number of configurations and uses in battle. His tech-bo had almost every tool under the sun and his goggles can give tactical information in a fight by pointing out weaknesses or additional information about an opponent. He also helps in moving allies around the battlefield using his hammer/tech-bo and battleshell, giving them a stronger advantage in the air and providing aerial assistance if needed. There are times when Donnie supports his allies by inhibiting the enemy, but more often than not his support is provided directly to his team.
Tumblr media
Utility:
Donnie's Parry and Counterattack style is, arguably, his best fighting style as he can utilize his tech while fighting without being overly reliant on it. When used properly he can go up against many types of enemies and it allows him to be a bit more adaptable in a fight than he is when he is using just his tech or just traditional fighting techniques.
His Glass Cannon fighting style should not be discredited, however, as it is incredibly strong, but it is more situational than the Parry-and-Counterattack method. There are times when it is useful to have that one powerful attack that can be used to finish off an enemy to deliver an immense amount of damage, but it needs to be done in tandem with his team. When Donnie fights as a Glass Cannon by himself, he becomes incredibly vulnerable and, without anyone to back him up, puts himself at huge risk when his attack fails. Having the others nearby help weaken the enemy, making his attack more effective, or can help defend Donnie should he need it.
Tumblr media
Donnie's fighting styles are best suited for short battles against a small number of enemies while he tends to have a hard time in long, drawn-out fights or against a large number of opponents. Donnie's strengths lie in his ability to deliver strong individual attacks, which work best when he is fighting against just a couple of enemies where he can properly focus his energy. However, the longer the fight goes on, the more Donnie begins to struggle - the longer the battle drags on, the more likely Donnie is to get hit. Despite the fact that he does very well on the defensive when using his Parry and Counterattack style, once Donnie gets hit it becomes very hard for him to recover.
Donnie's role as the Striker can conflict with his role as the Support, resulting in him often having to prioritize one over the other. If Donnie plays a more aggressive role in the fight, both his fighting styles don't give much opportunity for him to use his tech for anything but his own attacks. When Donnie needs to fall into his Support role, this means he has to significantly "back off," so to speak, so he can fully deploy and utilize his tech to help his team.
Tumblr media
How it plays into his character:
Donnie’s fight style and roles reveal a surprising amount of information about his character, including the complexities of his personality and how his strengths and flaws are demonstrated in the way he fights.
Donnie's Glass Cannon style is the direct result of his arrogance and overconfidence in his tech. Donnie takes pride in his tech and inventions, which isn't inherently a bad thing, however, this tends to feed into Donnie's arrogance, causing him to assume that his inventions could never fail. When he does this in battle, he puts so much emphasis on his tech and his confidence in its success that he doesn't consider the possibility that the attack may not work. However, there are times when the Glass Cannon fighting style is needed, which is when Donnie has to find a balance between relying on his tech for a powerful attack and having the humility to recognize when it may not be the best option.
Tumblr media
Donnie's Parry-and-Counterattack fighting style exemplifies how skilled Donnie can be when the best parts of his character come together. This fighting method requires Donnie to be skilled, patient, and tactical; while also demonstrating how Donnie can use his intelligence and engineering in battle without being overly reliant on it. Donnie can be rash and overeager in a fight, especially when it comes to using his tech, but when he uses his Parry-and-Counterattack style he is forced to address that in order to succeed. When Donnie uses his greatest strength, his intelligence, all of these pieces fall into place, making him a very strong fighter.
Tumblr media
Donnie's role as a Support may not be very obvious since he tends to fight more offensively, but the way he supports his team in a fight aligns very well with how Donnie expresses his care and affection for his family. Throughout the show, Donnie repeatedly tells us that emotion and affectionate gestures are difficult for him, which could make it seem that he has little care for his family. However, this is far from the case, Rise demonstrates time and time again that Donnie deeply cares about his family, but instead of expressing it outwardly, Donnie's affection comes through in his inventions. We see several instances in the show where Donnie makes upgrades to his tech to cater to his family's needs and interests - and he does the same thing in battle. He has several gadgets specifically designed to keep his family safe, and we see how he modifies his tech to accommodate the needs of others in a fight. The love Donnie has for his family translates into every part of their lives, including battle, even when it isn't immediately obvious to anyone else.
Tumblr media
In a Team Fight:
In a combined team effort, Donnie is the best option to go last in a team attack. Given Donnie's role as the Striker and his fighting style that is heavily geared towards singular heavy strikes, it makes sense for him to be the one to deliver that finishing blow. This is where his Glass Cannon style works best as his allies have already worn the enemy down enough to make his final, tech-heavy particularly devastating.
With the mobility and the assistance he can provide with his tech, Donnie can help set up a follow-up attack, but this means he has to take a more passive role in the fight and he doesn't get much of a chance to attack. This can be beneficial when going against weaker opponents, but less so when fighting stronger enemies.
Donnie doesn't work as well as an attacker in the early positions in a team attack as his skills as a fighter are not suited to properly set up a coordinated effort. Even though his Parry-and-Counterattack style can create an opening in the opponent's defense, it also needs a very quick attack to follow up on that, which is difficult to execute without another person nearby. Attacking first or second may also require Donnie to fight his foe for a longer period of time, which increases the chance that Donnie will get hit and won't give him the time needed to recover from it.
Tumblr media
~-~-~-~
Donnie's analysis was definitely the most difficult one of the bunch. Whereas Leo, Raph, and Mikey all have instantly recognizable roles and fighting styles, Donnie's was much more complex. You know he's the tech guy in and out of a fight, but trying to find where he fits into battle beyond that was challenging. Interestingly enough, it mirrors how his own character is presented, where you know Donnie's general shtick early on, but it can be difficult to understand his character beyond the surface level if you don't pay attention.
Tumblr media
~-~-~-~
[TL;DR: Donnie has two distinct fighting styles in the show - one that prioritizes close-range Parrying and Counterattack techniques and one where he prioritizes his tech and becomes a Glass Cannon. These both feed into his role as the team's Striker, where he functions best as the final attack in a team battle - while also acting as the team's Support by assisting his allies with less combative tech. His roles and fighting style are all very indicative of Donnie's overall personality and the complexities of his character.]
Oh it’s good to be back doing these again. Sorry again for taking so long, but college be college and college be a bi- well, you know. Next up is our girl April O’Neil. I really will try to get it out tomorrow but I won’t make any guarantees.

May you do some rottmnt boys headcannons for how they would react if Draxum tells them that they were y/n pet turtle before he stole and mutated them
It feels weird to write this with a romantic relationship so Im going to make this plutonic.
Raph Leo Donnie and Mikey finding out there are the readers old pet.
Tumblr media
🐢 Anime boy backstory 🐢
Before Draxum started the mutation process, before he got ahold of Splinter, he needed some actual test subjects. You where an average New Yorker, you went to school and had a part time job and even had some unique pets that you where very attached to.
A alligator snapping turtle, a softshell, a red eared slider and a little box turtle. Draxum took interest in you because of your pets. Huginn and Muninn where sent out to find the perfect animals to mutate, that's when you where targeted by him.
On your way home from a trip to the vet to check up on your little guys health you got jumped. There was no possible way to get out but you where not about to leave your pets. You tried to run but after being picked up by Draxum's vines you got thrown against a wall, passing out. When you woke up your beloved pets where gone.
Raphael
★ He was the one who tracked you down after Draxum told him he once was someone's pet. It was kinda awkward expanding everything to you but after introducing himself you immediately pulled him in for a hug.
★ He kinda gets protective of you. But not from other people! Just in general, you took care of him when he was small. It's only fair that he does the same for you.
★ You and Raph end up being the responsible ones in there little family. The difference between getting in trouble with You instead of Raph is that you always lecture them for at least an hour. Also you get to say stuff like "I raised you better than this."
★ You get invited to every family movie night and everyone fights over who gets to sit next to you because you always cuddle with the closest person. turtle?
Leonardo
★ The reaction he had was similar to the one in in the gif above ⬆️. Yes, he was a plane old turtle once but it took him by surprise when it came out that he was a pet.
★ He's a total lap dog towards you, and only you. There's no getting out of it. He'd walk up to you and plop himself down on your lap and look up. You always give in and give him shell stitches. It's not weird if it's from you, okay!
★ His brothers collectively agree that you are now basically his babysitter. He gets into a fair amount of trouble, imagen Raphael saying "if you don't stop I'm telling y/n!" Or being the one who now yells at him after making bad discussions instead of raph.
Donatello
★ Blank face before quietly saying "What?" He knew that he was just a regular softshell but surprisingly he never thought about where he came from before getting mutated.
★ He gives you random tests on your knowledge of softshell turtles. Like you could be folding laundry and he'd just say "what is the proper temperature for a softshell turtle enclosure?" He does this to try and figure out if you where a good pet owner. He's come to the conclusion that you where a pretty good pet owner.
★ He wonders about what could've happened if Draxum never stole him and his brothers from you. Things could've turned out way differently, the thought comes back to him every once I awhile.
★ You know things about him that nobody else knows, like where he likes to be pet on his shell. But he refused to believe you without any proof. He is only slightly embarrassed when you demonstrate for him.
Michelangelo
★ *New parent acquired* He got really excited and asked a ton of questions. Did you get him from a pet store? How much did he cost? Do you still have his old habit??? He needs to know theses things!
★ If you have any photos of him and is brothers as regular turtles he's going to ask for copy's. Don't tell anyone but he's working on a family album in his free time.
★ You are now his older sister figure, no you aren't getting out of it. He comes to you when he needs help or has a problem with something or someone. He says that he inherited your kindness even though it doesn't work that way.
★He lowkey love's it when you pamper him like he is still your pet turtle. Doesn't matter if he's a big guy now! He wants chin scratches and lap pillows. Also he makes Draxum apologize for what he did to you.

Ok. I wanna ask something. It’s ok you don’t have to answer this but I wanna ask how would the Turtles be like when they are in season? Like way before their s/o came into the picture? Like their emotions and how to handle it? You can make it SFW or NSFW or both.
We love mating season in this house. This is a fun one anon thanks! So undercut cause goes without saying.
Explicit
Leo
He knows how to manage it the best during the beginning.
Get messy towards the middle.
For Leo the best way to deal with pesky spring fever is simply to overtrain and overwork his body.
Out of sight out of mind mentally.
His nose gets easily irritable with all the scents he can pick up now that go beyond his usual. So he’ll burn more incense, he’ll light more candles (softer scents that calm him)
His gaze strays. Leo knows how to keep his eyes on check whenever he sees a beautiful individual, he’s very aware that making it obvious isn’t always fun.
But man, is he fucking staring now. Notices all the intricate details about April that makes her so very beautiful. Notices how pretty the lady that works at the deli where they patrol often is, saw a guy so breathtaking he had to stop and take a second. It’s all rather annoying and it exacerbates him.
MEDITATES MORE™️
More on the angry jerk off side of the spectrum.
Raph
Oh boy is he just more stand off-ish than normal. Quicker to pick fights and really will fight if pushed.
Raph needs to blow of steam on a normal basis, while in his season? Sheesh are the Foot getting extra bones broken.
Over exercises to compensate the territorial nature that boils within him.
A lot of impure thoughts about April.
He feels awful about it too which further being the cycle full circle.
Angry, fight, fantasize, rinse, repeat.
Tries to get out of the Lair more. Sneaks out or the cold fresh air to center him.
People watches. His mind will wander. Up until now Raph believes he won’t ever have a chance with someone, so this part isn’t his favorite.
Yearns baby, this one yearns and aches.
Mikey
So. Much. More. Extra. Energy.
Much more scatter brained than usual.
Head full. Many thought.
Mikey likes to burn off his energy by skating. He’ll concentrate on tricks and enjoys the speed of zooming around on his board.
Tbh Mikey sticks to what works. Skateboarding and masturbating.
Could get rather territorial, a bit prone to picking fights. Surprisingly scary when mad.
While Mike doesn’t like being alone in general, really needs the solitude during this time.
If he flirts with April on a normal Tuesday evening, how’d you think he’s gonna be now?
Over all handles the season fairly well.
Donnie
Probably the best to handle the season out of his brothers.
Naturally because Donnie prefers to nest during this period. He naturally prefers the solitude so during this time it’s the best excuse to not have everyone on his case about it.
EATS.
The man gets pretty famished and eats more that he normally does.
Skins feels a little on fire, just about anything sets him off. Whether the instinct to fight or his need for release.
Don’s pretty creative when it comes to getting off, but man does he breakout some fun things to pass the time.
Tries to distract himself with his work.
Not proud of it but if Aprils around, he’ll smell her a lot. She’s got a comforting scent but it also kinda gets him going which doesn’t help.

Bro can y'all imagine if 12 Leo got turned into a little kid?
Like they're already in a rather stressful situation as is. Having the Rise gang with them and the craziness of mystics and yokai, it's just a big mess. And it gets even bigger when the 12 boys and Rise boys are fighting some magical yokai one night, and one of them goes to aim at one of the boys and 12 Leo in typical mom fashion doesn't hesitate to throw himself in front of the attack taking the blunt of it. It's a bright poof of light and sparks and 12 Raph, 12 Donnie and 12 Mikey are freaking the fuck out because holy shit their big brother just got hit. The dust settles and standing or rather sitting in the same spot that the eldest Hamato was a small turtle tot with big blue eyes full of confusion and slight nervousness. The group goes dead silent before chaos erupts and it's during this that the yokai ends up slipping away.
Leaving the two groups of turtles with a deaged 12 Leo.
They have no choice but to take him home, where Rise Splinter and Draxum take one look at 12 Leo and are instantly shooting questions at the boys, trying to figure out everything they can to try and fix this mess. Till then the 12 gang and Rise gang become babysitters to 12 Leo because they can't exactly just let the toddler wander all by himself. They're basically like:
"It'll be okay, this is Lee after all! This should be a pretty easy mission to accomplish till we can change him back to normal! It'll be a breeze cuz he's such a calm and pleasant turtle!"
Only they're wrong.
Turtle tot 12 Leo is a fucking menace surprisingly. He gets into things he's not supposed to be in, runs around with a knife at several points, is hella mischievous and sneaky and pulls little pranks on unsuspecting residents in the lair (he's claimed 12 Raph and Rise Donnie as his main go to's to reek havoc upon cuz they give the best reactions). They also discovered a habit turtle tot 12 Leo had back when he was little in the form of Rise Raph receiving it and letting out a pained yelp.
Turns out 12 Leo is a bitter.
And he bites hard.
It's basically chaos. The only ones who are able to somewhat keep up with the mischievous leader is Rise Leo, Rise Mikey and 12 Mikey because they're just as chaotic as 12 Leo is. 12 Leo also behaves around Rise Splinter and Draxum as well as 12 April and Rise April. 12 Casey and Rise Cassandra on the other hand encourage his bad behavior. 12 Donnie is desperately trying to help Rise Donnie and Draxum figure out how to fix this disaster. Finally it gets to the point where they realize that they're going to have to hunt down the one who caused this situation to happen. There's just one problem.
They don't have anyone to watch him.
So Rise Leo ends up coming up with a solution, though how well it'll work out is a mystery to him and his brothers. So Rise Leo trudging 12 Leo along with him with Rise Raph hovering nearby like a mother hen and 12 Raph being completely unsure about the situation, with their little brothers eyeing the entire scene, goes to the place of his only hope.
When Senor Hueso opens the door he's far from amused.
The skeleton yokai at first thinks it's one of Rise Leo's attempts at a joke but as the red eared slider explains the situation he just gets more and more exhausted hearing it. At first he tells him no, going along the lines of:
"Can't your padre do it for you?"
Only to be met with:
"Dad said that while he loves Lee too death he's really not in the best shape to watch a hyper active toddler."
And they continue this little back and forth till Senor Hueso finally gives in with an exasperated groan and finally takes 12 Leo, becoming a babysitter while the group goes out to find the yokai who caused this. Once they're alone the skeleton yokai at first is somewhat indifferent about it, keeping a close eye socket on 12 Leo, who's a bit quiet and hesitant around the skeleton. However as time passes Senor Hueso starts to notice just how mischievous this little blue turtle tot is and notices how he's a lover of silly jokes and puns. It reminds him a lot of Rise Leo who's constantly going on and on with his ramblings and quips, only in toddler speak now.
Before he realizes it he's interacting with 12 Leo, going along with his trouble making mischief around his home and pizzeria. Senor Hueso and 12 Leo soon are joined at the hip, the skeleton yokai giving him dry little quips such as:
"Does my femur taste delicious little togua?"
And 12 Leo who's bitting his arm in a somewhat gnawing way goes:
"Too dry."
And Senor Hueso just let's out this little amused rattling laugh at the boy's blunt answer. The older man would end up making him a pizza filling a bit prideful when the turtle tot takes a bite and his eyes grow wide in a sparkling childish delight. Time passes by quickly and soon the 12 boys and Rise boys are back at Senor Hueso's place to pick up 12 Leo, empty handed and thanking him for watching the little blue turtle. The skeleton yokai just shrugs it off and goes:
"It wasn't too bad. I wouldn't mind watching the little nino again should it be necessary."
And once that's out there Senor Hueso basically becomes the second babysitter to 12 Leo till he's back to normal. Just a tired bone dry humorous skeleton yokai with a ball of energy tiny turtle tot.
When everything's said and done 12 Leo back to normal would thank Senor Hueso in his embarrassed awkward way and Rise Leo would tease the skeleton yokai mercilessly for being basically a babysitter to the eldest Hamato child. Senor Hueso will just give his friend unamused looks and shot back with his own quips in relation to his teasing.
And if Senor Hueso ends up making 12 Leo's favorite pizza whenever he stops by, well that's for the skeleton yokai to know.

Something I haven't been able to figure out........... how did the blurple au reader manage to get in relationships with both boys at the same time when they obviously don't want to share. How did that go down??? Or am I misunderstanding the dynamic? I can't stop thinking about it fr
so the dynamics are
donnie has been in love with you his entire life. you're it. the end game. the One. you define who he is, and he owns it.
leo has largely considered himself incapable of/unworthy of/uninterested in any kind of permanent, long-term relationship let alone romance... until he meets you.
so both of them are like. okay. if it's Ever gonna happen, it's with this one. and they both crave how you make them feel so, so badly, that even though it's absolutely infuriating thinking about the other one getting you sometimes, so be it. this is what it means to have you, and they won't not have you.
also edit bc i have more to say here upon a reread. in the beginning i think. they convince themselves that they can convince you that you only need them. like. donnie thinks he can talk you away from leo. he's dangerous. i'm safe. stay with me. i'll protect you. and leo thinks he can show you that he has everything you need. donnie stifles you. i'll set you free. i'll give you everything—including me.
plus... you're, like, the love of their life. so when you come to leo all excited because donnie took you on a super fun date yesterday, yeah, it annoys him bc he should have been the one spending time with you. but it's impossible not to see how happy you are, so he just... grumbles performatively. then rails you into the couch so when you go home you smell like him
and for donnie, it's like. well. i imagine you'd get sexual with leo first. he's much more up front with the fact that he desires you, and he's not going to let anything get in his way of having you. so in donnie's mind, leo had you first. (even though, really, donnie has always had you.) so part of it is him being glad that he gets to have you at all. and part of it is that he sees how happy leo makes you (some...how??? it breaks his brain a little because you've seen leo, right? this guy? this guy????) and making you happy slash safe is like, the thing he was put on this earth to do.
in the beginning, they're nasty and actively antagonistic to the other. they fight, openly, though they're so well-matched that nothing ever comes of it. then they slowly just get less and less aggressive as you just. stubbornly force them to exist in the same space (because they're family, they're brothers, they shouldn't be fighting, can't they see they shouldn't be fighting???). and eventually it devolves into, like. petty sniping behind your back when you aren't looking. donnie drawing stupid shit on leo's face when he finds him asleep on the couch using his sharpie. leo hiding donnie's sharpie so he can't draw on his eyebrows and he looks stupid all day. dear god the active war that is who do you smell like today.
so it's...... reluctant. but eventually it settles into something that works surprisingly well, shocking literally everyone—except you, because you'd had faith the whole time that it would work.

Hihi, happy Late bothday!! Idk if ur asks are open but if they are could u write bayverse donnie and Leo with a punk s/o who’s actually a total sweetheart and very loving?
Aww thank you!! Oh I like this lol. My favorite boys (I hope this is what you wanted, I'm not punk nor do I know anyone who is)
Donnie and Leo with a punk s/o
They show you off whenever they can. They're so happy to finally be in a relationship with you and can't help but just gloat
He eventually does tone it down, but he's just so in shock that you: his super badass babe, chose him. Him.
He's a nerd. A dork.
From your outward appearance it felt like you'd go after Raph or maybe Mikey, but Leo/Donnie? You two looked like opposites.
But thankfully you happily remind them that you reciprocate the feelings and care for them deeply.
He was glad for the reminders, you were very quiet and reserved, only showing affection when mostly alone. He just assumed you were a bit of an aloof person and never wanted to make you feel forced to act a certain way.
But it isn't until one of them hurts themselves that your real personality comes out.
Leo:
It was after training, a few hours before patrol and he was working on a new trick with his katanas.
You're sitting on a folded up mat by the entrance, on your phone, occasionally looking up at him.
Well, he isn't perfect (despite what he wants you to think) and the blade slips from his hand.
It cut the tip of his finger. It's the equivalent of a human paper cut, just a little surface scratch.
But because it's a large weapon that raises a lot of alarm when the move doesn't go as planned.
He drops one to the floor and hisses in pain, you jump and run over to him.
"Are you okay? What happened?"
He winces, setting down the other katana and kneeling on the mat.
"I'm alright, it's just a little cut," He brushes it off, still clutching his hand.
You rush from the dojo, going to Donnie's lab and returning with the first aide kit.
Kneeling next to him you clean the wound and gently pat it dry.
"Is that okay? Does it hurt?" There's fear in your eyes, a worry line etched in your forehead. He'd never seen you so worried or concerned for him.
"No, it's okay," He can't bring himself to stop you, your hands are so gentle and soft as they move across his hand.
(If he's being honest it's nice being doted on like this)
After it's been cleaned to your liking, you take out two large bandaids and wrap them around his finger.
"Is that too tight? Can you still move it okay?" It melts his heart seeing how careful you're being with him.
"Yes, baby, I'm fine," He laughs, pulling you into a hug.
Donnie:
It was a calm day at the lair, surprisingly no one had started a fight and Splinter even let them out of training early.
You'd been invited over the second he'd left the dojo. You were now sitting on his cot in the far corner of his lab.
Silently enjoying each other's company.
Donnie was trying to weld two pieces of steel together for his computer, it was a simply fix that could be done in no time.
But the welding tool Donnie was using decided to break in that moment, the tip sparking brightly as it hit the metal.
The sparks went everywhere and burned the tips of his fingers.
Donnie yelped, dropping the metal, welder, and scooting back in his chair, holding his hand to his chest.
You were up in an instant, gently touching his shoulder and speaking softly.
"Are you alright?" You leaned down, touching his forearm. "Can I see? Here let me see,"
He holds out his hands, there's no visible marks yet but they hurt.
You go over to a cabinet behind him, rummaging through until you find a bottle. Bringing it back to the table you take his hand in yours.
You grabbed aloe and squirted a small amount on your palm. Dipping your fingers into the goo you gently rubbed it along his fingers.
He hissed a one point, you grimaced and lessened your touch even more
He'd never seen this side of you, he knew you cared but seeing you so concerned for his wellbeing made his heart flutter.
"Does that feel better?" You whisper, having coated all his fingers, worried written all over your pretty face.
"Y-yeah, it does," If he could blush he'd be as red as Raph's mask.
"Okay," You nod, flipping his hand around to press a kiss to his palm, then doing it on the other.
Donnie was sure his heart stopped.

What about the silly chaos of a baking competition? It could be April, Donnie and the reader vs Leo, Ralph and Mikey. Oh! And Splinter could be the judge. Of course everyone’s gonna get competitive and try to sabotage the other team, stealing ingredients and such.
A/N: Oh this is actually a super fun concept I love this
Character(s): Raph, Leo, Mikey, Donnie, April, Splinter
Relationship: Platonic
First off, April is actually a pretty good baker. Donnie...is not. So you’ve got a good balance going on here, it just depends on what level your own baking skill are at
The odds were a bit stacked against you to begin with, given that Mikey is on the other team (everyone drew straws, but Donnie is convinced that Raph and Leo somehow cheated to get Mikey with them)
Thankfully, Raph isn’t too great of a baker either, and Leo is honestly a complete wild card when it comes to the kitchen, so you three still have a fighting chance
You make three of the classics: cookies, cupcakes, and cake. (definitely not just because Splinter was hungry. This whole competition totally wasn’t a well-constructed ruse to get all of you to make food for him. How could you ever assume that)
Donnie loves to pretend he isn’t terrible in the kitchen (“I’m a scientist! Baking is just food science!”), but after he managed to turn your team’s cupcakes into black crisps in the oven, you and April put him on sabotage duty, which he is frighteningly good at
His tech certainly gives him a leg up when it comes to stealing things from right under your opponents’ noses, and all the backlash gets directed at him and distracts the other team so you and April can pull ahead. It’s a surprisingly effective system
It’s mostly a competition between you and April vs. Mikey. He’s the one pulling most of his team’s weight, after all. Raph will get him all his ingredients, and once in a blue moon Leo will agree to put half his ass into mixing the batter instead of just standing there and smack talking your team, but Mikey is busting out all his well-honed baking skills for this and it’s a little intimidating
April ends up getting equally competitive. Not that you and the other turtles aren’t, it’s just that her and Mikey’s passion and determination kind of drowns out everything else, to the point where the rest of you guys just wind up doing whatever they say because, alright, you actually really want to see your respective team win this thing
Donnie and Leo might have gotten into a physical fight once or twice. You and April are used to it, so you just kind of worked around them while they caused a ruckus on your side of the kitchen
In the end, you all wind up with several trays of baked goods ranging drastically in quality, and Splinter is more than happy to judge everything like he’s a professional food critic, but really it’s just a half-hour montage of him stuffing his face and forgetting that he’s actually supposed to be judging while the rest of you wait in anticipation
“So who won?!”  “Huh? Oh, yes, yes, right. Uh...it was a tie. You’re all very good”  “WHAT-”
Yeah no way you’re sticking with that verdict, so you all hunker down and chow down on the rest of your treats. It takes about as long as the competition itself, but eventually you decide on a few winners
Mikey’s team won on cupcakes, because of Donnie’s slip up that required you and April to have to re-make them from scratch and running out of time
Your team won on cookies, because Donnie sabotaged the other team’s batter when Leo was supposed to be watching the bowl
And...the final test...it was a close call...but your team’s cake actually pulled through! Originally you all agreed to settle on Mikey’s cake as the winner (because it was good as hell), up until Donnie found a tiny eggshell in his slice and made such a big deal out of it that the other team agreed to hand you guys the win (the shell was Raph’s fault, but he’s definitely not gonna admit that anytime soon)
But yeah, you guys gloat about that victory for days, and, as a result, get to eat all the rest of the baked goods while Raph, Leo and Mikey are stuck on dishwashing duty. You, April and Donnie all end up with huge stomach aches afterward, but sometimes that’s just a price you're willing to pay for victory

Got asked about the relationships between the individual siblings and it became a massive wall of text so we're putting it here in its own post with a read more to save everyone's dashes! Enjoy!
Lee + Angie: Angie is kinda a major know-it-all, because thanks to zeir powers they actually do know pretty much everything, so even though the siblings all very much respect Lee and follow her instructions closely, Angie has a habit of making decisions while mentally ten steps ahead of the team and not informing them of those decisions, the unpredictability is a pain and it gets on Lee's nerves big time, she tries to trust her little sibling, she really does, she knows zey often are actually right, but without being let in on where zey're at she can't make any proper plans so she tends to have Angie on a bit of a tight leash on the field (which Angie obviously has a problem with). At home though, Lee is incredibly tolerant of Angie's bullshit, maybe a little too tolerant, but she doesn't want to be a parent to her siblings and she knows Angie needs to have time to let loose and be annoying, there will be NO coming to her to complain about Angie bugging them or blowing something up unless its actually something really important. Because of this, she tends to get dragged into zeir nonsense the most (Donnie is always down to cause chaos but they're also often reluctant to leave xeir lab), sometimes she has fun with it, sometimes it gets so bad she needs to actually put her foot down, depends on the day and the shenanigans.
Lee + Donnie: Donnie has a pretty easy time following Lee's instructions on the field, xey rarely see a reason to rebel or go off course, and Lee trusts them to stick to the plan just as much if not more than she trusts Raph to, with one caveat; Donnie can get impatient. Really impatient. Jump in impulsively impatient. She can't expect them to sit and wait for the right moment, which is a little ironic considering Donnie is the one most interested in information gathering, which y’know, often involves waiting patiently for the right moment. At home, their relationship is kinda considered the most distant, but not for a lack of trying. Lee tries her best to be super supportive of xeir hobby, even if it creeps her out and she gets a little queasy seeing the stuff in Donnie's lab, she tries to help out by making sure the lab is always properly stocked with sanitary materials, but can't handle much of the place beyond that. Donnie also tries to spend time relaxing with Lee, but they can't sit still for long enough to make it work, and eventually xey have to give in and go write down whatever idea has popped into their mind and blast music to stay sane. In the end, they just can't click properly, and aside from occasionally checking in with each other to make sure there's not an accidental one-sided fight going on (sometimes when one of them is mad enough to give the silent treatment, the other wont notice because they rarely hang out, so its good to double check), they're content to leave it at that.
Lee + Raph: These two actually have a surprisingly equal relationship on the field, Lee is always a bit of a lazy butt before missions, reluctant to go while Raph is itching to go, so Raph is always the one that ends up dragging her along until she properly gets into leader mode. On the other hand, while Raph is close behind her as the second most determined member of the team and always follows instructions, that'll only last if the mission stays relevant to their goal of finding Splinter. If he decides the mission is a waste of time, she'll either get more aggressive in the fight (if their opponent is fighting all of them and being somewhat of a threat) or ditch entirely (if their opponent/job isn't a threat worth wasting time on). They work together well, and they have a silent agreement to keep reigning each other in and not let the other get away with being dumb about something, because regardless of how serious they are when its go time they still have plenty of stupid and stubborn moments. At home these two are very quiet, Raph took Splinter's disappearance the hardest, withdrawing the most from the group, but even during the rough patch where the four of them felt like strangers to each other Lee would always find time to sit down with him. They didn't talk back then, they just sat together, Lee reading comics and Raph playing video games, both of them trying to simultaneously escape from the world and miss their father. When the four of them started working on fixing things again, Lee and Raph would awkwardly try to share their new hobbies, Raph didn't take to the comics and Lee didn't take to the games, but Raph did end up liking the stargazing, and Lee enjoyed gardening (though her plants of choice tended to be easier to take care of than Raph's ambitious little garden), they end up being really close in their later teenage years.
Angie + Donnie: The twins! The dynamic duo! The chaos makers! They don't often work on their own together, Lee likes to keep the team together and avoids letting anyone go off on a mission on their own, but on the rare occasion that Donnie and Angie do find themselves on their own duo mission, communication is almost silent in every sense, they know each other inside and out and don't even need to look at each other to be in sync, extending their powers in their respective unique ways and connecting the dots of information together, and then from there its CHAOS, a lot of BOOM from Angie while Donnie slinks around and does what needs to be done from the shadows, they're a mess, and they do a lot of damage (not a good thing for four ninjas in hiding), but they are very much able to get the job done well. At home, they drag each other into their respective projects, Donnie isn't great with mechanics and Angie isn't interested in biology, but mad scientists gotta stick together, y’know? They also tend to do pranks together, but the family's rough patch kinda dulled that playfulness a little bit, so pranks from the pair became a less common thing. During the rough patch, they were still considered close, but they also started to isolate themselves more. In a way it was a little good for them, they needed some space to grow and become their own people, but they lost a lot to that time, and lost even more a year later when Angie ran off and didn't come back for almost six months.
Angie + Raph: Angie and Raph......do not get along fantastically. Lee doesn't often make them work closely together in the field, its better for everyone if Raph is given a space away from them. If they're forced to be on a mission alone together, they'll get the job done, but Raph isn't exactly working with Angie, its more like she goes her own way without a word and expects Angie to follow. It's hard to say what's worse, when Angie does the mission perfectly, or when Angie messes up. Angie can be a lot, even when zey were little, and its in their nature to try and get on people's nerves, and Raph's temper doesn't take it very well. As kids it was just classic sibling annoyance, but when their powers came in Angie got even worse, and Donnie and Lee got stuck with keeping Raph and Angie's relationship as steady as possible. The relationship between Raph and Angie is a major conflict, and their biggest clash happens not long before the timeskip drops us off, so feel free to snoop around that one because its a whole thing. They will work through their issues, don't worry, they're not doomed to hate each other forever, their relationship just had to get worse before it could get better.
Raph + Donnie: Unlike with Angie, Raph actually gets along with Donnie pretty well. Raph's determination to get through a proper mission and Donnie's low tolerance for patience results in quick, efficient missions. They might not do as many non-Splinter related missions as Lee would like when left to their own devices, but oftentimes they know if a mission will be fruitful long before they have to make direct contact with the enemy, and Donnie is often fine with ditching with Raph for their paired missions. As long as nothing catches Donnie's attention, they're a great stealth team. At home, they actually end up being forced to socialise by being in the same friend group, with Tim, Kay, and April, they're the ones most likely to sneak out together and get into trouble, but for once its the normal teenager kind. Kinda. Kay likes street racing and a lot of shenanigans can come with that. They're the ones most likely to get pent up from being inside for too long, and yet they cope by staying home and avoiding people, so its good for them to force each other to get out of the house every now and then.

TMNT Master List
A GHere is my TMNT Master List for the mobile peeps, love you and have fun sweatheart
Here is the link for the masterlist on the desktop version of my blog
ROTTMNT:
Dream World - A Sibling!Mutant!Reader Story - Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Y/N just your average human being who goes to university. Meeting up with her friend to study only to procrastinate to watch movies with her. So when Y/N falls asleep in their living room, next to their best friend only to wake up somewhere else. And when suddenly a weird green monster appears in front of them they can’t help but panic and be mighty confused.
ARIA - Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant | AI!Reader in the Krang Apocalypse Part 1 Part 2 Donnie is stretched thin in the apocalypse. Everyone needs the help of the genius but there is always so much to do, even with the help of his family and Shelldon. But luckily Donnie is a genius inventor. Might as well create a robot that is simply there to answer everyones question. Thus the Autonomous Research Interactive Assistant, aka ARIA, was born.
2k12!TMNT x ROTTMNT
A different kind of self hatred - 2k12!tmnt x rottmnt Reader crossover Part 1 Part 2 A little before and after moment of Y/N who after jumping universes tried to explore the hidden city only to come back with the answer to the question “If you punch yourself and it hurts are you weak or strong?”
Rise!Leonardo:
Frustrated - A chat between Reader and Rise!Leo Y/N is frustrated after getting wounded during their last mission, so they flee the med-bay to work through that frustration only to be caught by Leonardo.
Birthday Confession - Reader x Leonardo Leo realizes he has a huge crush on Y/N and when she invites him and his family home for her birthday he plans to finally confess
The cold is made for cuddles! - Reader x Rise!Leonardo Leo knew that Y/N hated being touched, what he didn’t realize was that this was only a thing during the summer since the heat and sweat was just gross to them. So when they admitted that they did enjoy cuddles during the winter season, the freezing Leo had to test that assumption.
Peach Fuzz - Rise!Leonardo x Reader Leo and Reader hang out after a training session in Leo’s room. Reader joins him shirtless which gives Leo the first time to take a better look at his skin and wait a minute? Is that hair?!?
Mission: First Date - Reader x Rise!Leonardo Leo and Y/N are out on their first date so the rest of the family decides that they better observe them and make sure that this First Date of theirs will be a success
Petty Love - Rise!Leonardo x Reader From the first moment Y/N and Leo interacted with each other, the two knew they despised the other. Leo was an annoying, egotistical ninja while Y/N was an annoying, egotistical ninja herself. What was the saying again? Opposite attract and similar repel? Surprisingly though over time the two had to admit they did enjoy the fights the two had. It was fun to test their mettle on each other whenever they had the chance. When another person enters Y/N’s life and begins to challenge her how Leo used to do, he had to admit, this sit quite well with him.An enemies to friend to lovers fic
A Gift Of Flowers - Rise!Leonardo x Reader Y/N is really shy and frankly Leo had been struggling to find proper common ground with the flower loving woman unlike the rest of his family. Luckily for him he found a flower field in the Hidden City which he definitely wanted to show to her.
2k12!Leonardo
My knight in shining shell - 2k12!Leonardo x Reader Leo i stoic and serious. He needed to be for his brothers and the team. This is just how it worked and honestly he has gotten really good at being the serious leader. But then there was Y/N who just tore that right down to pieces. They were a flirt and somehow they managed to affect Leo. So much so that he began having a serious crush on them. Sadly the flirtiness was only with him, no they did the same with everyone. One moment they flirted with him, which gave him hope on to take that hope and destroy it as they began flirting with someone else. It’s only natural that Leo would get to a point where he needs to tell Y/N to stop.
Floating - 2k12!Leonardo x Reader Y/N is disassociating which meant either they wait it out or they could call Leonardo who has helped them multiple times during moments like these. Calling Leo sounded way better than waiting this out and lucky them, Leo was always glad to help out.
Rise!Donnie:
Themepark - Donnie and Reader Y/N and Donnie go out of base to look for materials at an abandonded themepark together
I can see you staring at me - Rise!Donatello x Reader When Donnie cooped himself up in his lab for ages, his brothers use their last weapon to get him out. Y/N. Y/N is one of the only ones that is able to keep up with his witty remarks which means when they get Donnie out of the lab, Leo and Mikey become wittnesses to a very interesting argument between the two that reveals a bit too much.
Christmas Kiss - Rise!Donnie x Reader Y/N is helping Donnie with the lights for christmas since the family was so nice to invite them over for the holidays. Unbenkownst to the two the rest of the family is using this to finally set the two up via mistletoe.
2k12!Donnie:
Clumsily walking into our hearts - 2k12!Donnie and Reader Y/N was clumsy. That’s just how they are but none of the turtle brothers, especially Donnie cared much about it even if he was the one who ends up taking care of them whenever something happens. No, Y/N was too much of a ray of sunshine to get annoyed at that.
Our Secret - 2k12!Donnie x Reader Donnie and Y/N have been dating for a while now. Vowing to keep it secret since their friends were honestly horrible when it came to teasing when someone had a crush. The teasing if they found out that they were dating? The two were sure it would be even more ruthless. Yeah, they were okay with this. Surely, there can’t be an accident just waiting to happen that would expose them.
Rise!Michelangelo
A turtle and a monkey meet in an alley - Monkey!Yokai!Reader and Rise!Michelangelo Mikey is out checking out the hidden city on his own only to meet a fellow artist. A badass monkey yokai artist to be exact. Yeah they will be friends for sure.

Don had the habit of growing quiet when things were on his mind; more of a 'work through it' sort of Turtle. And though it worked, most of the time, there were times when even his own frustrations can get the best of him. Not that it could be read, the Terrapin coming off as calm and collected in that moment, as he sat next to Raph.
He said nothing, simply flickering his gaze between the TV and Raph, over and over. He wasn't one to choose the 'violent' option, but even he needed time in the Dojo with someone he knows can handle him. It's something he hadn't done since they were little kids, but, hey, maybe Raphael still remembered this little tell of theirs.
Unprovoked, no warning, as quick as Donatello could move, he bites Raph - hard. Not enough to draw blood, he wasn't a savage after all, but definitely enough for his twin to feel it, and to react to it. Releasing them from his jaw, Donatello stared at them, expectedly, still not saying a damn thing. Hopefully Raph remembers that old 'game' of theirs, or things were about to get awkward real quick.
| Muse interaction
Don't get Raph wrong he didn't play favorites with his brothers, despite how rough he was around the edges he loved them all. You lay a finger on them and he will bite it off. He messes with them all about the same as well. Fighting with Leo to annoy them because well lets face it even Raph wasn't immune to that younger sibling need. Mikey got under his skin pretty easy and did it on purpose so he often got after them a lot. Don? well it was usually just through some sass back and forth. Where Leo will take a remark and get annoyed or Mikey got sensitive over saying something in a way he didn't like? Don just threw it back. Sassatello over here. But he was also the only brother Raph could just sit in silence near with out the possibility of trouble starting. Well between them surprisingly Don could be up for trouble when he felt like it. Just cause of Don's more so called clam and collected nature. He just cause mischief in his own way at times.
Plopped down on the couch Raph had his eyes fixed on the screen, wasn't a current game playing an old rerun the channel had going something about needing to fill in the screen time so they could make use of the time slot. It was better than sitting around and watching the news even if Raph knew the out come of this game already, he watched it the day of the actual match after all. When Don actually came out of his lab and joined him on the couch.
"uh there the brainiac, and out of his lab. Careful the light out 'ere may be too bright for yas." Raph just smirked a little and he slid over to make room for Don to sit next to him when they seemed to come his way. No remarks were given back when they plopped on down beside him though. Hmm maybe they needed a break from whatever they were in the middle of working with. He was a bit more like Leo when it came to all that after all they sort kept that stuff to themself. Mikey made every emotion he felt known even if you didn't ask, and Raph let it all show through his single one emotion. Anger. Leo held on to stuff knowing the time and place...sometimes. Donnie just kept busy. Raph shifted to rest an arm on the couch looking around for the remote a moment. Maybe he could bear through some painful moment of something Donnie liked to watch. When he suddenly felt something sharp sink into his skin.
Tumblr media
Not sharp like a blade of anything no he knew this feeling easily. It didn't hurt really well it didn't hurt Raph at least sure they didn't draw blood when having done it but it was like he was just resting his teeth on Raph either. Raph turned to look at Don as they started to let go a very expected look in his twins eyes as they didn't offer a single word. "did ya just bite me?" Raph had to question a moment, before he moved to stand up on his feet. Looping an arm around one of Donnie's dragging them up to their own. "if ya wanna go a few rounds you could jus' say so bozo." Of course Raph knew what that bite meant and well it explain Donnie's whole demur since coming out to sit with Raph on the couch. Donnie was pent up and holding on to some frustration most likely. "Figure ya would have out grown biting me by now." Despite the rough treatment as he started to drag Donnie off with him to the dojo, there was clear enjoyment underlining the rasp in Raphael's voice.
Once getting to the dojo, empty and not being used in the moment, he let Don's arm go only to throw his arm around Donnie's shoulders, tugging them down a bit. Mostly just hazing his poor twin right now for their old habits. Reaching over to rub knuckles in against the top of Don's head as he chuckled a little. "Guess some thing' don't change, eh?" Letting go as he makes his way into the room now."How ere doin' weapons no weapons?" He starts to ask as he cracks his knuckles, pressing an open plam against a closed fist, and starts tilting his head left and right to pop his neck. Oh, he was all for a little bit of play fighting with Donnie. Leo took it all too seriously, and if you weren't fighting right' you gotta hear 'bout it, and Mikey ... was a pain in the ass. Cause he never shut up!
Fighting Donnie, though? Hey, for a guy who spent most of the day locked up in his lab, busying himself with machines and whatever else you might assume he didn't pack a punch and you would be severely mistaken which was excstly why Raph was razed for a fight with Donnie. "Times up, no weapons. Le's see if ya still got it. After all, I've been wastin' away in yer lab all day, notnsure you can handle it?" Course Raph knew better, but talking shit just added fun. "Come on, Don, no holdin' back now. Let's see that angry face you hide?" And with that, he tackled Donnie to the ground, getting that start to a fringly little play fight with his twin. Actually, I kind of had the red banded turtle feeling a little nostalgic suddenly.

4 times Leonardo was a dork and the time he wasn’t
Heya! I adore the "strong stoic character does something embarrassing or dumb" trope, and Leo has been left behing from that one. Also, my fervent Leo Simp Friend said these were all good ideas and I trust his judgment completely, so it's also for him. Enjoy, you Dork-ass Looser (affectionate) @weird-flex-but-ok
I have one of these "4 times ______ and 1 time ______" stories for each of them, I just got really inspired by him all of a sudden. But they're coming!
There might be a few typos here and there, but I really don't wanna wait any longer to post it :3
Requested: No
Pairing: None, platonic
Word count: 2500 +
Triggers: cursing, injuries, blood, intrusion
Summary: You were always sort of intimidated by the leader in blue, but a series of events shows you he might not be as serious as he wants you to think.
__________________________________________
First time
It took you a while to get along with all of them.
Not because you didn't trust them, or because they made it difficult, and certainly not because they're mutants. You're just not that good with new people, and you tend to shy away. Especially when you have New York's heroes in front of you.
So yeah. It took a while. But soon enough, you warmed up to your new friends, and you had a great time. Mikey was the first who made you feel welcomed, always asking questions about you and insisting you came to the lair in the first place. Donnie followed soon, after you started asking about what he was working on. It took a bit more work to get closer to Raph, but it turns out sarcasm was the way to go.
If only their leader was as approachable.
He never made you feel unsafe or unwelcomed, don’t get me wrong, he just kept a professional distance with you, which started to become quite painful as time went on. You tried not to take it personally, thinking he maybe was as shy as you were.
You had time anyway.
It was early in the evening when you made your way to the lair. For the first time since you met the turtles, you went there alone. You were a little nervous, thinking you might get lost in the maze of tunnels under the city, but figured you could just call someone if anything happened. Lucky for you, you found your way to your friend’s place, but not without hustle.
As you entered, you realized it was uncharacteristically quiet. The only sounds you could here were the faint music and the not so faint curses from Donatello’s lab. The smart decision seemed to be leave him alone, which is exactly what you did.
You haven’t been here long enough to know where to find the others, and as you didn’t exactly felt like staying alone in the living space, you tried finding your way to the dojo, as it was one of the other places you knew well.
Of course, now you got lost. Venturing into the sewers was fine, but walking into your friend's home wasn't, apparently.
You found something else, however. This particular tunnel led to a room you could identify as someone's room. You could see the large bed in the middle of the room, a small table with a bottle of water, a book, and a makeshift alarm. A set of twin swords were hanging on the right wall, just above a small bookshelf.
On your left was another table with a (healthy, you noted) bonsai tree, and next to that was Leonardo, facing a mirror. He had his right arm lifted up to his head, and was looking right to you through the mirror.
He looked absolutely horrified.
What the fuck.
He slowly rubbed his face in his hands, let out a long sigh, and turned to you, more tense than you've ever seen him. He cleared his throat as you pince your lips in a thin line to hold back a smile.
"Hello, Y/N. I... didnt think you'd come in so early."
Despite the badly lit room, you can see him bite the inside of his cheek.
"Yeah, uh, I didnt mean to... interrupt you," you say. Your voice is slightly shaking as it takes all of your willpower not to burst out laughing. And he definitely notices.
"You didn't! I uh, wasn't doing anything anyway. So, tell me- what brings you to the lair?" He asks, avoiding your eyes.
"Oh, Mikey invited me, he said I wasnt allowed to skip on movie night. You know how strong willed he is," you smirks, unable to handle it much longer.
Stiff as a board, you see the corner of his mouth twitching and hear him whisper, "... I wasn't flexing."
Silence.
You snort laugh hard enough to choke on it as you quickly turn around to hold yourself against the wall, the insanity of the situation crashing on you. Leo sat at the foot of his bed, head in his hands, and you could see him shake in repressed laughter once you wiped your tears away.
You sit next to him after finally calming down from the hysteria. He sighs, straightens his back and gives you a side glance.
"I'm not judging."
"You're still laughing, though."
"Yeah, but like, I guess I just wasn't expecting that. Still not judging."
He nods, still smiling. His voice is at least 3 octaves higher when he asks, "Please, don't tell the others."
"And what, give them the privilege of knowing about your little... ritual? Nah, don't worry about it."
_______________________
Second time
The second time your assumptions about the leader were subverted happended only two weeks after the... incident.
You had invited the whole crew to your place for the very first time, and they were all excited to come. You made a copious dinner: a few veggie cakes, chicken wings and a bowl of roasted potatoes. They were supposed to bring the drinks and movies, and April and Casey were in charge of the desert.
A perfect night, it seemed.
And it would have been if they could decide what to watch first without jumping at each other's throats.
"You guys need to grow up."
"Leave me out of thi-"
"Donnie's suggesting Velocipastor of all things and you think we need to grow up? Come on, Y/N, I thought you were better than that."
"Okay, first of all, how dare you. And second, this movie's a masterpie-"
"Yeah, because everyone knows that his supremior intellect means he's the only one who gets to choose a dumb movie. Why won't you guys watch Sharknado?"
"Supremior isn't a word. And it's because unlike you, peasants, I have taste." A devilish smile creeps up Donnie's face. The bastard is doing it on purpose.
"Peasants?!"
"You ugly-ass son of a-"
"Hey! Leave Dad out of this!"
"We could watch Shrek instead?"
You decided to go get some glasses in the kitchen, leaving the children to their stupid fight. Searching through your cupboard, you hear a crashing sound, quickly followed by utter and complete silence.
Oh no.
In insight, leaving them alone was maybe not the best idea. You were reconsidering bringing glasses into the mess as you made your way to the origin of the sound. And what a mess it was.
Your friends were all expressing shock in some way, Casey (surprisingly) being the most dramatic of them all with his hands right in front of his face and his jaw hanging open. They were all looking back and forth between you and another direction near the table.
The really cool bowl that held the delicious potatoes you made was broken on the floor. There was glass and potatoes everywhere, but the biggest shards were in a neat pile, right behind Leonardo, who looked like a deer in headlights.
"... nothing happended."
"I'm... starting to think it's a habit of yours," you say as you watch him not so discretely try to hide the broken pieces behind his foot.
"Look, if you keep putting your foot in there you're gonna hurt yourself. Just, step away a bit, will you?"
"I'm sorry I broke it. Let me help you clean up, I don't want you to cut yourself."
"It's okay! Don't touch it, I'll get a bag," you say as he starts to gather the biggest shards.
Won't even listen for one second, will he?
Raph was already picking up the untouched potatoes to put them in the plates on the table, and April went to the kitchen with you to retrieve the bag and cleaning supplies.
"Ew, Mikey don't eat that."
"Thirty seconds rule, baby."
"It's five seconds, you moron. And it's way over thirty anyway. Spit it out."
The rest of the night went on without further issues, but Leo still looked apologetic during the movie. Which is probably why he was standing before you as his brothers were leaving.
"Thank you for the evening. And I'm... sorry again for the bowl."
"Hey it's okay, man. Don't worry about it. As long as no one gets hurt it's not that big of a deal."
"I'll get you a new one." He doesn't wait for your answer and ruffles your hair before taking off.
"Text me when you guys get home!" You scream into the night, hoping one of them heard you.

Third time
It's surprisingly easy to mess with Fearless.
You were in the living room, getting your ass beat on Mario Kart by Mikey, when you decided to take a break for your stomach (and ego)’s sake. You made your way to the kitchen, where Leo and Raph were in a heated discussion. Raph looked
“I’m telling you, 4 inches is too small. What do you get from 4 inches ? Nothing. But 10 inches ? It really makes you feel something.”
What?
You looked down on the table and saw multiple ingredients lined up on the table, with a long piece of bread on the side.
Oh, sandwiches. Got it.
Leo’s back was facing you, but Raph gave you a knowing glance, one that said ‘do it’. So, you did. Not without a smirk, first.
“Oh, wow, Leo ! I didn’t think you’d be so open about that kind of conversations.” You open the fridge, hoping you can hide your smile behind the door.
“What ? What do you m-” His face falls. Raph starts chuckling next to you and it looks like Leo’s brain is rebooting.
“I mean, I’m not judging. You do you, buddy, I’m happy for you. Just surprised you choose lunch time to talk about it.” And in other circumstances, you’d mean every word. But right now, messing with your friend is too good to pass on.
“No, hold on- I didnt mean- It’s not what you think ! I’m talking about sandwiches !” He tries to show you the ingredients currently on the table, but Raph decides it’s time to join the fun.
“Lying isn’t vey Bushido of you, Honor Boy,” he winks at you and you can’t repress a giggle.
He puts his face in his hands, knowing very well that the both of you ganged up on him but unable to save face. He just smiles, goes back on his chair and hides his head in his arms, hoping you won’t see how embarassed you made him.
“Hey, you like what you like. Have fun with your sandwiches.” You give him an innocent smile, pat him twice on the shoulder, and join Mikey back on the couch with a plate of grapes.
You could hear Raph’s light chuckle from the kitchen.

Fourth time
Mornings are hard.
And they’re even worse when you spent the whole night sewing an arm back together after a sword gave it a nasty cut. And getting glass shards off of your friend’s shell. And putting a bone back in it’s rightful place after a particularly bad fall.
Yeah. Long night. And a tense one, too.
Because with the physical pain came the chock and residual fears, the anger and blaming. Everyone was stil on guard, and all that tension was exhausting. You barely slept, too worried that one of your friend’s state would degrade if you didn’t keep an eye on them at all times. Which didn’t really help you get the rest you needed.
If you were hoping the morning would be kinder on all of you, you quickly realized that it was a mistake. While, luckily for the turles, the mutagen was already healing their physical wounds, the emotional exhaustion of the previous night was still heavy. Of all of your conscious friends, not one dared break the eerie silence.
It was weird, seeing them like this. But you couldn’t force yourself to say anything, strangely scared of what could happen. You resumed to making breakfast for everyone and bringing clean towels to the still sleeping feverish turtle in the medbay. Splinter and Mikey were at the kitchen table, quietly accepting your offering, when Leo came into the room from the medbay.
He was still half asleep, and in his drowsiness didn’t see the wall he accidentally ran into.
“Oh, sorry. Didn’t see you there.”
Everyone turned to Leo, who it took a solid minute of staring blindly at the wall to realize what just happened.
Donnie was the first to laugh. It didn’t take long for april and Mikey to join, soon followed by Splinter affectionately patting his son’s arm. Leo smiled and shook his head, as their lighthearted laugh was contagious.
The leader in blue was more of a goofball than what you first expected, and you were grateful for it in the fading tensions of the morning.
______________________
One time he wasn't
When someone intrudes your home, especially at 4 am when you were sleeping in the next room, a lot of things go through your head.
Did they take anything?
Yes. Your bag with your wallet, some cash, your credit card, your ID, and a few fidelity cards from various stores. Your laptop. A set of keys. That one blanket Raph made you (probably to carry everything without making too much noise).
Why you?
Why not? Your apartment isn't isolated, but it's not exactly on a main street either. It was probably practical for them.
Were they armed?
Who knows. Maybe. Maybe not. Probably. Statistically, most likely.
What could have happened if you had tried to confront them?
A lot of things. Maybe, if you let them know you were awake and knew what was going on, without necessarily confronting them, it would have been enough to make them run away. Or maybe there were multiple armed people, and they wouldn't hesitate to use force if necessary.
Who knows.
Can the police find this person?
Statistically? No. At least, that's what Casey told you when you asked him. Unless they got really lucky, they won't find anything.
Or at least the stuff they stole?
Again, unlikely. Unless they can trace your laptop back to the guy, or someone can give a physical description and a direction, there's not a lot they can do.
What can you do now?
Call your bank. And your insurance. And your landlord. Let them know what happened and follow their directive, they'll guide you through their procedure and help you soften the blow.
Casey was the first person you called when you woke up this night, and he was at your place within minutes with two other colleagues (the closest he could find). He spent the rest of the night reassuring you, helping you with the phone calls, asking around for witnesses, but nothing.
It's weird, feeling unsafe for the first time in a place you had called Home for years. It's disturbing. You can feel the nausea your anxiety is giving you, and a headache starts to grow at the back of your skull.
You don't really like this feeling.
So when your turtle friends dropped by the next evening without telling you and you welcomed them with a swing of your favorite pan, let's just say reactions were split.
"I can hack into your computer to find its location if you want. Wouldn't be the first time."
"What?"
"What? I mean, I didn't do it for your location last time. I know all about your search history, though."
"We're gonna have a talk about boundaries and privacy once we're done dealing with that," you sigh. You crash down on the couch next to your friend and mindlessly watch him work.
Leo comes up to you and gently nudges your shoulder. "Hey, do you have a toolbox somewhere? We brought locks to put on your door and windows. You know, just in case."
You nod, quiet, and lead him to your room where you keep most of the most useful stuff you own, including but not limited to a toolbox and a first aid kit.
Your movements were almost mechanical as you retrieved the box and handed it to him, and you decided to help him put up the locks to keep your mind occupied.
He was concerned. You looked like you were still in choc, which he could completely understand. Getting robbed is awful in itself, but getting robbed while you're sleeping in the next room? Horrific, in his mind.
He was also furious. He couldn't be there for you. This person had the nerves to go after his friend, and what if you got hurt? He wouldn't have been able to do anything about it.
He noticed he was staring when your eyes met his.
"Hey. We're gonna do whatever we can to find them. We're also gonna focus our patrols in your neighborhood for at least a few weeks, until you feel better," he puts a hand on your shoulder. "It's gonna be okay Y/N. Trust me."
You look up to him, and when you look into his eyes, you know he means it. You let your head fall against his plastron as he holds you against him, a silent promise for safety.
"Hey shorty," Raph pulls his head into the crack of the door to address you. "Wanna learn how to fight? I can turn you into a death machine."
You heard the faint "Raph, what the fuck" coming from Mikey who was still in the living room.
You gave a small laugh as you got up, Leo following you closely to the living room.
"Hey! Fighting isn't for everyone. But I could make you a really cool taser, if you want."
"What's with you and tasers?"
"They're efficient."
The bell ringed and April came in holding 4 boxes of pizza, that Mikey assisted her with as soon as she set a foot inside.
You looked around at your friends as April brandished the pizzas like a trophy while Raph and Donnie went back and forth trying to decide who, between man power and electricity, would win in a fight.
And you realized that yes, Leo was right.
It's gonna be okay.

Chosen last: part two
Rottmnt x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: reader worries that their new friends are becoming exactly like their old ones, unaware that they’re ditching them to prepare a surprise
Platonic, of course!
Part one: https://chiliiscereal.tumblr.com/post/650808822043115520/chosen-last
———
“I’m SOOOoO gonna beat you, Mikey!” You gloated, smashing your fingers over the remote buttons and narrowing your eyes at the tv.
“Ha! In your dreams, baby!” He responded gleefully. He leaned forward and concentrated harder than you’d ever seen him.
It was your annual video game competition. Once a month you and the turtles (and April of course) have one day dedicated to seeing who was the video game champ.
Mikey won last month, Donnie won the month before, Leo won the three months before that, and Raph came close but April defeated him.
You were absolutely determined to win this month.
Surprisingly, Leo was on the couch behind you and rooting for you.
“Go y/n! You got this!” He shouted when your video game car passed Mikeys. He even jumped out of his seat, nearly spilling the popcorn.
“Why are you rooting for y/n??” Mikey accused lividly. “I’m your brother!!”
“Y/n hasn’t won a single competition! Besides, you won last month!” Leo smirked, sitting back down. “It’s hilarious to see you this worked up.”
“Oh you and Dr. Delicate touch are gonna have a looooong talk later.” You snorted.
“Hell yeah he is!” Mikey growled.
Before you could say anything else, Raph entered the room.
“Hey, guys, sorry to cut things short but... Dad needs us to clean!” He blurted out quickly. “Sorry y/n but you should probably go.”
You waved him off, shutting the tv off. “Oh, I can stay and help!”
“No! I mean, it’ll just be boring trust me.” He intervened and took the remote from you hurriedly. He even grabbed your arm and pulled you off the floor. “You don’t want to help clean! It’s fine!”
“Hold on, we have to clean?” Leo groaned. “We cleaned last month!”
“Yeah, why aren’t we fighting Splinter on this?” Mikey stood in Raphs way when he tried to push you out of the room.
You wriggled out of the red masked turtles grasp. “Come on! Don’t you want someone to help you debate this with Splinter!”
You were on the rats good side ever since you bought him the exclusive Lou Jitsu movie box. All the turtles knew this.
Why didn’t they want you on their side?
A small part of you whispered past insecurities but you brushed it away.
Raph sighed, clearly nervous. “Guys we gotta do... the thing. We gotta clean the thing!” He looked at them as if searching for help.
“What thing?” Leo narrowed his eyes.
“The THING. You know?” Raph cleared his throat. “You don’t want to know, y/n. It’s super gross.”
You placed your hands on your hips, suspicious.
“You know... the thing April mentioned a while ago?” Raph tried again, making some loose gestures that you couldn’t really understand.
Somehow, though, Mikey and Leo caught on.
“Ohhhh, the thing!” Mikey exclaimed and immediately began clearing away the snack mess that had been left from the video games.
Leo joined him. “Yeah! Dude, you don’t wanna be here to clean the thing.” He shoveled as much garbage in his arms as he could. “You can just head for the door and come back later! You know, when we don’t have to clean?”
Hesitantly, you grabbed your bag. “Okay..?”
What was this thing they had to clean?
Did they really think it would gross you out?
And why did it take them so long to catch on?
Whatever. It was probably more shenanigans. It didn’t mean anything.
“Alright then,” you stepped away from them slowly, “I’ll just head out.”
The turtles stood in their spots stiffly and waved goodbye.
You rounded the corner to walk over to the ladder, unsure of what to think.
They didn’t normally act like this...
But maybe Splinter just really wanted them to clean?
But why weren’t you allowed to know what the Thing was?
And April apparently already knew about it...
Maybe it was just that you were still relatively new to the friend group.
Yeah, that made sense.
Before you could touch the ladder you heard voices.
Two voices.
Coming from Donnie’s lab.
Well, might as well go say goodbye to Donnie right?
You shouldered you’re bag and headed over, standing in the doorway and knocking on the wall so he’d know you were there.
He and April were both sitting together looking at a computer.
You didn’t even know April was there! Well, she might get kicked out for cleaning day to. Maybe you could both do something together!
The duo looked up, panicked, and Donnie quickly shut the computer off. “Ah! Y/n! I didn’t know you were here!”
You frowned, a little hurt. “Today was the video game competition? I was here just like the last... five months?”
April gave you a too wide grin and shut the laptop. “Well! What... uh... what brings you to the lab?”
You shifted uncomfortably. “Raph and the others kicked me out cause they need to clean a Thing? They said it was really gross, and I came in to say bye to Donnie and maybe see if you wanted to go get ice cream or something?”
April turned to Donnie, wide eyed. “Well... I... I can’t exactly... I have a...”
“She has to help clean the Thing as well!” Donnie filled in for her.
Now you were really confused. “But... Raph said it was too gross for anyone other than family.”
“It’s fine!” April waved you off. “But let’s get ice cream later! Okay?”
You gave them a small wave and turned around. “Yeah... okay.”
———-
That Saturday you found yourself walking down the street with one of your old friends.
She wanted to get frozen yogurt and had a coupon for a “buy one get one free”.
Normally you’d have said no. But the turtles AND April denied you every time you asked if you could hang out!
So you said yes.
Just like old times.
“I’m SO sure Jake likes me.” She grinned to herself as she typed away on her phone. “Hope you don’t mind but he’s gonna be at the frozen yogurt shop with us!”
“Oh.” You mumbled. “I thought it’d just be you and me.”
“It’s fine!” She waved you off. “He’s nice! He’s not like the last guy... uh... what’s his name?”
“The guy who told me I was a prude or the guy who told me I looked better with makeup?” You couldn’t help but spit out bitterly.
“The first one.” She eyed you strangely. “And what’s with you today? You’re more pessimistic than usual.”
“That one was Brian. And I’m fine.”
She turned back to her phone, the two of you weaving through the new York crowd.
You’d rather be with the...
The turtles?
You stopped, hearing familiar voices coming from the alley.
“How could you forget!”
“You think I just meant to?!”
“Maybe!”
“Guys, shut up, it’s not a big deal, okay? There’s still time to figure this out.”
“Easy for you to say! You’re just gonna make up another lame excuse and leave!”
“I will not!”
“Can’t we just wait for April in peace?”
“No, because RAPH forgot about-!”
You cleared your throat and entered the alley.
The boys were huddled together, arguing. Quickly they jumped apart and tried their best to act normal.
“Heyyyyy, y/n!” Leo gave you awkward finger guns. “Didn’t expect to see you here!”
Mikey looked like he was trying to say something but couldn’t find the words.
You were suddenly less excited to see them. “Hey’ didn’t expect to see you guys either!” You bit the inside of your cheek nervously. “What’re you... what’re you doing here? I thought you were too busy to hang out?”
“We are!” Donnie nodded. “Very busy.”
“Yeah and dad grounded us from hanging out with people so-.” Raph added, only for his plan to fall through when April showed up from behind them.
“Guys! I got the-!” She stopped, spotting you. Whatever was in her hands she hid it purposely behind her back so you couldn’t see it. “Y/n!”
You fixed them with a small glare. “Too busy to hang out?”
You didn’t want to sound clingy or desperate, but now it just felt like they were going out of their way to avoid you.
“Well, you know, April doesn’t count! She’s practically family!” Raph chuckled.
That was enough for you to make a decision.
“Well, I’m kind of with a friend right now! I’ll... I’ll just talk to you guys later.”
You backed out of the alley, surprised to find yourself looking forward to meeting the new boy your friend was chasing instead of seeing whatever goofiness the turtles were up to.
You’d survived without them before.
Surely you could survive until whatever this was passed.
———-
“Hey girl your birthday’s coming up!” Your friend mentioned at the lunch table the next day. “I’m Definetely taking you bowling! We’ll bring all the girls, maybe even Jake!”
You didn’t even like bowling.
You didn’t even like Jake!
He was just like all the other boys she’d dated.
But it was better than just sitting at home and waiting for the boys to explain their recent behavior.
“That sounds great.” You muttered, stirring your salad half heartedly. “Can’t wait.”
You went back to sitting with your old group since this whole thing started.
You didn’t have anyone else to sit with! April would disappear during her lunch hour and say she just was going out to get lunch, but she never did that! Ever!
A part of you believed that maybe they finally realized you weren’t worth being friends with.
Maybe you were always meant to be the hermit.
“You excited?” One of your friends asked. “I am! I’m gonna invite Jaxon to go with me and I’ll get dressed up-!”
You tuned them out immediately.
What was the point.
They were talking about it like it was their party.
Not yours.
Just like every other year.
———-
Another day went by.
You found yourself with those same girls again.
They were planning the ‘bowling birthday party’ and coordinating rides. But, of course, there was no room for you to carpool with them.
“Hey, y/n!” April shouted across the lunch room.
You debated about ignoring her, and then debated about just getting it over with.
Ignoring her seemed easier.
“O’Neil, what do you want.” One of your friends asked almost boredly.
Crap, April was right behind you.
“I just wanted to talk to y/n!”
You didn’t bother turning around.
“I know you heard me. Why aren’t you sitting at our table?”
You clenched you’re fists under the table. “You haven’t been here, April. Besides I have other friends.” You finally turned to face her.
She narrowed her eyes.
But, not from anger.
“Well... I’m back now!” She grinned, placing her hand on your shoulder. “Also, Mikey wanted to know if you wanted to have ice cream with the guys later tonight?”
One of your friends burst out laughing before you could even answer. “This Mikey guy is real?”
Another one snorted. “Who’d have known?”
You tried to laugh it off.
You really did.
But that proved harder than you thought.
April placed her hands on her hips. “Excuse me? What do you mean by ‘who’d have known’?”
“You know what y/n’s like!” The friend beside you waved her off. “She hardly talks to anyone! He’d probably think she’s boring.” She turned to you. “Right?” She elbowed your side when you said nothing, as if she were joking with you.
You straitened your lips into a thin line and nodded. “Yeah... right.”
“So, when we go bowling for your birthday, do you think Jake will like my blue dress or my-?”
April slammed her hands on the table. “Hold on, you think this is all some game?”
Your friend shrugged. “We’re just playing with her! She knows it’s a joke!”
“Was it? Cause I couldn’t tell!” April huffed.
“April, drop it.” You mumbled. “It’s fine.”
“No, it’s not!” She nearly yelled. “You guys haven’t been a good friend to her at all! You forgot her birthday present last year and you make her walk everywhere-!”
You stood up from your seat. “I said stop, okay?”
Surprisingly, she did.
“It’s fine. Just leave it alone.” You walked over to the trash can and dumped in your long forgotten food.
She frowned. “Fine, if you don’t want me to do this, I won’t.” She walked next to you, casting a look over her shoulder at your table. “Even though I’m right.”
You said nothing.
What could you say?
“Hey, I... I gotta go talk to the guys.” April bit her lip and glanced at the door. “Can you possibly come to the lair? Tonight? Around... five?”
You set your tray back in the pile with all the other dirty ones. “Yeah, I can try.”
“Great thanks!”
April was out of there faster than you could say ‘hot soup’.
————
Wouldn’t you know it, five o’clock rolled around.
You didn’t want to go.
You really didn’t.
Well, you did, but you honestly thought this was going to be them ditching you.
All the signs were there.
Instead of over thinking you decided to just go. Don’t even think about it.
You arrived at the lair quietly, taking your time stepping down the ladder.
All the lights in the kitchen were off.
All the lights in their skating room was off.
By now, it just felt like this was one big joke. Did you misinterpret April? Did the guys even know you were down here? Ugh what if they were doing this just to laugh at you?
Finally, you got to their living room.
You clicked the light on.
“SURPRISE!!”
You nearly jumped out of your skin when the four boys, one girl, and one rat dad jumped out.
Confetti?
Cake?
Even a happy birthday banner?
Decorations with your favorite colors?
Your favorite movie ready and waiting to be played in the tv?
“Ha! Look! Y/n’s speechless!” Leo chortled.
“Happy early birthday, dear friend!” Donnie waved to showcase the room. “April told us your friends were having a bowling party on the actual day, and that you probably needed a little something fun, so here we are!”
“We got all your favorite things, facts checked by the master!” Raph patted April’s back.
“We even got your favorite video game from the store!” Mikey bounced over to the tv and picked up the disc case.
“We have cake, baked by me, and your favorite sodas!” Splinter gave you a toothy rat grin.
“And as for the gifts,” Raph chuckled guiltily, “you kind of caught us trying to get them at the store! April told us it was coming up but we forgot and had to rush to get things ready.”
You...
You honestly didn’t know what to say...
You didn’t have any words!
No one had ever done this for you before.
No one.
Not even the friends that you’d known for years.
A small tear slipped out against your will as you brought your hands to cover your mouth.
“Hey, what’s the problem? You’re supposed to be happy!” Leo dropped his party hat and rushed over, brothers behind him.
You wrapped them up in the biggest hug you could give them. “Thank you so so so much! I... no one has ever done anything like this for me!”
The family gladly returned the gesture.
“Ah, so they’re happy tears. Excellent.” Donnie nodded to himself. “You are happy with this, right?”
You released them and stepped back. “Definitely happy tears.”
April draped her arm over your shoulder. “Well then, what are you waiting for! Let’s get started!!”
That night was probably one of the best nights of your life.
For once, you weren’t chosen last.
You weren’t the extra.
You weren’t the plus one.
You weren’t taken for granted.
Let me know if you have any ideas for a part three! Possibly one where the turtles find out about the readers friends? 😏

Okay— so!
I like the Oroku sibs thing you have going on it's just so sweet and aofnoenfoent
Idk if i havent seen it but is Raph the leader instead? Since i think it would fall on him without leo being there. What would his leadership be like? Wr know how his time being the leader ended up with, so how does he cope?
And if there's no leader, i just think they work together, with Raph callong the shots when it comes to fighting, Donnie caing the shots when it comes to important science stuff, and mikey calling the shots when it comes to interacting with new people.
ALSO ALSO SORRY FOR ASKING A LOT BUT
Would Karai still be a snake? Would Leo be thrown in the mutagen with her?
And What would the space arc look like? Would karai join in?
That's all, sorry if the asks the a lot rkfjt
Hello my friend! First off don't apologize for all the questions! I like answering them whenever I can and it's always nice to interact with everyone!! Second off sgsgsfsfsfsf I'm glad you're enjoying the Oroku siblings, they're literally are becoming my children at this point and it's just such a fun concept to play around with and knowing that others like em as well makes me super happy!! Now onwards to your questions-!!!!
Hmmm to be completely honest with you I've actually been thinking about the whole leader thing for this au and one of those thoughts for a possible leader was surprisingly enough Donnie. While I adore Raph to bits and pieces and he'd make a great leader, I also know that my boy is a passionate turtle who sometimes goes head first into things without really planning. And Mikey, while talented and a prodigy, can also be a bit spaced out and off the ball sometimes when it comes to leadership. Donnie on the other hand likes to plan things and when he's not completely stressed out he's pretty good in the strategy department. So going based on this logic if anything plus thinking about how Splinter chose Leo in the original series because of his quick thinking, he'd probably go with Donnie. That and personally I think it'd be an interesting idea to play around with since we've already seen Raph be the leader in Rise and in that one episode of 12. But I'm also thinking about just making all the boys have a say in leadership as well. Honestly it's got so many things that it could go and I'm just playing around with what would fit best! As for how he'd cope Raph would probably be very much like he was in the show only instead he'll be much more willing to intervene in Donnie's leadership role whenever he feels like something's not done right or he feels like his little brother is in need of guidance or assistance.
Ah yes Snake Karai! Honestly she'll still get turned into a snake mutant! It'll just be under different circumstances than the original ones in the show! I just have to figure it out better. I've got an idea of Karai getting caught by the Shredder to be used as a pawning chip to lure both Leo and Splinter out of hiding, only for it to not go according to his plans. I've got to plan it out more for it to make sense lol. It'd basically be an opening for Leo to bond with his original family and clan on a one on one type of ordeal, plus give him a chance to grow to be his own person away from Karai somewhat. Since Leo his entire life has been trained to be her bodyguard and in a way doesn't really feel like he has a sense of purpose other than to protect his older sister. Which is something that drives Karai nuts because she wants him to be able to feel like he has a choice in what his destiny should be instead of the lessons their ex master and father Shredder had drilled into him. Plus Karai's character growth would take place in the five months her little brother is in his coma since she's always been by her little brother's side since she was five and he was four.
As for the Space arc yes most definitely Karai would be joining the Hamato kids, April and Casey on their journey. Mainly to help protect Leo and her new little brothers as well as trying to save their father and planet. Basically wherever Leo goes, Karai is sure to follow and vice versa. It's one of the reasons why they're called the Princess of the Foot clan and the Shadow of the Foot clan because they're rarely seen without the other attached to their hip. And if it's something as dangerous as a journey to outer space with a android and several new alien species out there, you can bet that Big Sister Karai is definitely going to be tagging along with her little brother who seems to be a magnet for trouble on a good day. (That and the thought of letting Leo go alone on a journey like this fills Karai with a shit ton of anxiety. Because the last times Leo had been left alone without her had been when he was about six years old and had been seen by a villager who attacked him with field equipment giving him a nasty scar on his arm, and when he was about fifteen years old when the Shredder had beaten him to death and tried to drown him, resulting in a ruined knee, a wicked cracked scar on the back of his shell, a scarred and ruined throat and vocal chords and a five month coma. So she's pretty paranoid about leaving him alone during dangerous missions.)

Frostbite (Casetello)
AN: do these two have a ship name? Caseytello? eh whatever it’s casey x donnie and they’re gay
special thanks to cal for reading this for me and saying i should post it <3
Tumblr media
There were quite a lot of things Casey Jones loved. Hockey, pizza, riding his motorcycle, video games, beating the crap out of his opponents. Normal teenage stuff. Lately he had been doing the latter, ever since he and April officially joined the 'Unofficial Turtles Team' , helping alongside the teen mutants on patrol. Goofing off with Mikey and Raph were the highlights, but he couldn't deny spending extra time with April was also a benefit. Even if they barely got a single word out- too busy fighting off random mutants scattering the city, it was still nice.
But what wasn't nice, downright unpleasant about patrol...was Donatello. There was an unspoken, mutual loathing that the pair shared that even quick glances at each other led to glaring and arguing. Leaving them together in the same room was never a good idea. Casey hasn't understood why the purple genius was so hostile towards him at first. But the reasons became obvious the first time he caught him staring helplessly at April, fumbling his words and blushing profusely. Not that Casey didn't feel similarly, heck, that was the problem. Both were attracted to April. Obviously Casey had the upper hand, being human. A turtle and a human girl in a relationship was built for disaster.
But their hatred didn't stop there. It wasn't just about April.  Eventually, everything about Donatello annoyed him. His whiny voice, his love for using complicated words to sound superior, soon every little thing bugged him.
Things were easier if the two stayed as far apart as possible.
Of course, fate seemed to work in mysterious ways.
It was starting to get late, the moonlight illuminating the sky. The group stopped on a rooftop, perched by the edge. Leo halted them silently, then turned around.
"Why'd you stop, Fearless?" Raph asked.
"I think we should split up. We'll cover more ground. If you see any sign of trouble, use your T-Phones." said Leo.
"No way dudes!" Mikey squeaked. "I saw this scary movie last night where the team split up! And then..." He paused for dramatic effect. "They all got taken out one by one. Starting with the cute funny one!" He trembled, hiding behind Donnie, who rolled his eyes.
Raph smirked, always prepared for a sassy remark. "Which means, you'll be just fine since you're neither of those."
"Hey!"
"And you'll be in pairs." Leo crossed his arms. "I've got it all planned out. Raph and April. Mikey and me."
"Mikey and I." Donnie corrected under his breath. Casey fought the urge to whack the smart aleck turtle with his hockey stick.
Leo ignored him. "Donnie and Casey-"
Casey involuntary let out a loud groan. Just his luck.
Leo narrowed his blue eyes, unamused. "Something wrong, Jones?"
"Er..." His eyes darted to Donatello, who seemed stoic, but equally frustrated with this predicament. On one hand, he wanted to argue and beg to be with literally anyone else. On the other, he didn't want to deal with the leader in blue getting annoyed with him.  "Nah Leo, that's fine by me. Right, D?"
Donnie huffed. "Yeah, that's alright."
"I think this will be good for you both." April grinned.
"Of course, April." Donnie agreed.
"No problem at all." Casey smiled through gritted teeth. When she turned away, they both shared an equally menacing glare.
"I knew I could count on you two." April smiled softly, though even she didn't look entirely convinced.
This was going to be a long night.
~•~
Turns out, Casey had underestimated the scrawny (ugh, svelte) turtle. In what Donnie lacked in muscle, he gained with his speed, mobility and of course, his mind. It was practically impossible to keep up once Donatello had leaped from the first building, tumbling and landing with ease, while Casey was coughing his lungs out as he ran desperately after the brainy terrapin.
"Okay, now you're just showing off." He panted irritably, nearly collapsing once he finally caught up with him.
"Are you coming or not?" Donnie gave his trademark gap tooth grin as he turned, slowing down.
"I am! You're just moving too fast!" Casey complained. "I thought turtles were supposed to be slow! I didn't even have time to get my grappling hook."
Donnie shrugged, ending the conversation with one simple movement.
They walked side by side, neither wanting to say anything. They both knew it would only end in arguing.
"Can I just say-" Casey started.
"No, you can't."
"I didn't say anything!"
"Exactly."
"Listen, Gap Tooth, I don't like this either!" He flicked a stone off the roof with his shoe. "But we have to ..." He swallowed. "work together, right?"
Donnie said nothing. He looked deep in thought.
"Is it because of April? Because it's not my fault she...y'know likes me more."
At the mention of April, Donnie turned away, eyes flashed with hurt, which only filled Casey with that annoying feeling of guilt.
"It isn't about her."
"Alright." Silence. "Sorry, let's just-" He cleared his throat. "Let's just work together, we don't need to be friends. Just get through the mission. After that, we can go back to hating each other."
"That was...surprisingly mature, Jones. Glad we can agree on something." Donnie quipped. "And for once, you're right. This mission is more important than our petty squabbles. No matter how insufferable you may be."
"Now you're just making up words."
Donnie fought the urge to roll his eyes. "So, that's two more hours of this."
Casey scoffed, but couldn't help but chuckle. Quietly of course. Last thing he wanted was for Donnie to think he was actually amusing.
"So...deal?"
"Deal." Donnie said, then added: "Cave Mouth." Which made Casey shove him lightly.
For a brief moment, they seemed to share a mutual understanding. The silence that followed wasn't awkward or forced, it was comfortable. Well, as comfortable as they could possibly be.
Donnie paused, startled by something. Lifting his bō carefully, he tried to follow whatever the sound was.
"What the-" Casey raised an eyebrow.
"Shh!" He hissed. "Do you hear that?"
"No?" Casey scrunched his nose, listening closely. It sounded like a...buzzing noise? Like a fly or mosquito. Irritating, but not dangerous. "Chill Don, it's just a bug or something."
"No, listen!" The turtle looked frantic and alert.
The buzzing became louder. Then, it was followed by the sound of snapping wood. Deliberate and exact. Casey gulped, taking his own weapon.
A massive shadow flew over their heads and landed in front of them. Donnie yelped in surprise, stumbling forward.
"Ah, shell." He swore, lifting his head to face the hideous insectoid mutant with acid green eyes. Scumbug spread his deformed wings, antenayes raised, prepared to strike.
"Well, I was right. That definitely is a bug. Scumbug! Wicked! This'll be fun!" Casey sneered.
"Which makes no sense, considering stag beetles aren't even bugs! They're insects!" Donnie spun his staff like a propeller, hitting the mutant face on.
"Not the time!" Casey tackled Scumbug, who roared, jostling him aside like a ragdoll. He smacked the floor with a sickening thud, directly on his arm. He fought back a scream of agony.  "Do you- gah- seriously have to be such a know it all, all the time?" He looked at his arm, which currently looked seriously messed up.
Donnie looked affronted. "I am not a know it all!"
"Yes you are!" Another whack of his trusty hockey stick, followed by a knock to the ground, face first. He wiped his mouth from the metallic taste of blood.
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you- Donnie, look out!" Casey shrieked, sounding less manly than he intended.
Scumbug, now furious, had efficiently used his enemies' bickering to his advantage. Before he could turn around, a spider web twirled from its appendages binding Donatello to the ground, who kicked and struggled furiously.
The mutant now crouched over the captured turtle, prepared to strike with his signature acid spit.
"Hang on, D! Casey Jones is here to save the day! GOONGALA!" He bellowed, racing towards Scumbug and latching onto him like a demented parasite. It was hardly the most graceful of moves, but it distracted him briefly.
He raised his hockey stick, poking him hard in the eye in an attempt to gouge them. Eyes were sensitive- he remembered Splinter telling him that.
With the extra time, Donnie reached for his bō, ripping the web apart with the extended naginata blade.
Scumbug, now looking more disheveled and horrifically disfigured than normal, retreated blindly into the misty air.
"I didn't need your help." Donnie said bitterly.
"Aw, is that any way to say thank you?" Casey retorted. "I just saved your shell." He poked his plastron roughly. "I think I deserve a little appreciation for my heroism."
"I had it handled."
"Did you? Because you looked just about ready to be eaten by Scumbug."
Donatello scowled, moving closer. "And he got away. So your heroism didn't exactly work, did it?"
"Would you rather have acid stuck to your face?" Casey growled. "You'd look even freakier than you do now. Next time you're a little 'turtle in distress' don't expect me to come save your-"
"I didn't need saving." Their foreheads pressed together, any moment ready to face each other on.
Casey gritted his teeth. "Sure, whatever you say. I didn't help because I actually cared about you or anything."
"Then why did you?" Donnie snapped, pulling away. "You could have left me."
"Because I- you- argh!" Casey felt his temper rising. "Because I'm not a monster, alright? We're a team, and we help each other. That's the deal." He wiped his chapped lips again, the disgusting taste of blood still lingering. He winced, clutching his arm.
"I can patch you up at the lair." Donnie said softly. "It just looks sprained."
"Mm." Casey grumbled, still pissed. Stubbornness was taking over any injury he had. He'd rather have his arm stay at this awkward angle than admit he was hurt in front of his rival. "I'll just wrap it up at home. I'll be fine."
Donnie sighed, raising his palm to his face. "Don't be so stubborn, I can help you."
Casey didn't look convinced.
"To repay the favor?" His warm brown eyes looked surprisingly sincere. "You did help me, after all. I'd probably be toast if you didn't."
Casey snorted. "You got that right."
A beat. Donnie looked unsure, as if he wanted to say something else. But whatever it was, it was holding him back.
"So...we should go back to the lair then?" Casey suggested, easing the awkwardness.
"Huh? Yes, of course. Totally. " Donnie nodded. "Naturally."
"Alright then."
"Jones?"
Casey turned, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
"I just wanted to say...thanks."
"Hey, no problem. But don't tell anyone I saved your ass."
"Deal."
~•~
Casey never expected to be sitting in Donnie's lab table, in between Timothy the blob-organ filled mutant and several bunsen burners, but life tended to be weird that way. He also didn’t expect to be pouting on said table like he was at some freaky doctor’s office. The rest of the team returned shortly after them, and seemed surprised that Donnie was actually willing to fix Casey's arm- and not begrudgingly.
Donnie returned with a first aid kit, setting it on the table. He hummed a familiar tune to himself, as if to fill the empty air of any more awkwardness.
"I've seen these before." Casey said, poking the bunsen burner tap, immediately then swatted away by Donatello. "At my school's science lab."
Donnie nodded, rolling up Casey's sleeve to examine his bare arm. Casey flinched, not comfortable with the random act of touching. "Hey don't!"
"Do you want your arm fixed or not?"
"...yeah."
"Then let me work my magic."
Casey frowned, staring at the bottle the turtle was holding. "Your magic looks like antibiotics and advil."
Donnie's lip twitched.
After his arm was treated somewhat, Donnie wrapped him up gently with a clean bandage. The slow movement made his heart race increase every time Donnie's fingertips brushed his arm, but he ignored it.
Don't be weird, Jones.
"That should be good. Don't put any pressure on it." said Donnie, passing him the advil. "And take this, it'll soothe the pain."
Casey pretended to look offended. "Here I thought you were gonna kiss it better."
Donnie rolled his eyes up to the ceiling. "Don't push it, Jones. We aren't there yet."
Casey laughed. "Yet. Thanks for fixin' my arm, D. You...aren't so bad, I guess. But let's go back to hating each other, alright?"
Donnie smirked. "Whatever you say."

Reunited
This was a request by anonymous and it was cool as hell so I am writing it!
I’m doing this in a one-shot format but it might be a bit crappy since I’m not too good at it!
Warning(s): Slight angst but happy ending, cursing, mention of injuries
(Reader is Female for this)
Let’s get this started!!
——————————————————————————
** 3rd person POV**
You were known as (y/n) to your family and friends, you looked like a normal 11 year old human girl but with a not so normal adoptive family.
You were abandoned by your biological parents before they were killed off by some bad guy and then you were picked up off of the ground by a green looking person wearing something red on his face. You now recognize him as Raphael, your older brother who you look up to the most. You obviously have your other brothers as well, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo. You were basically a mini version of all of them. You loved your brothers and they loved you, they were all pretty overprotective of you as well.
Until everything went downhill.
-
Everything happened so fast you couldn’t believe what was happening, foot soldiers flooded the lair and started attacking your brothers while some big metal man with blades for arms started to attack your father. You wanted to help them but you weren’t as better trained as your father and brothers so you fought the urges. You saw your brothers start to attack the metal man which you now knew was called shredder, and the fight wasn’t looking too well for them. That’s when you saw shredder almost stab Raph.
You felt something inside of you that you’ve never felt before and you didn’t know how to describe it, but it made your blood boil. You quickly rushed over there as fast as you could before your brother was hurt and just closed your eyes and let instincts take over. And by instincts I mean the fact that you turned into a whole wolf and started biting the arm of shredder. You bit through his armor and into his flesh, you couldn’t even control what you were doing, you just knew that you must protect your brothers. Shredder flung you across the room but it didn’t affect you badly, you were back on your feet once again. But you then felt sharp pains in your neck that led you to pass out. Shredder was impressed by your powers and decided to take you with him to “experiment” on you. Even if your brothers and Sensai protested, he easily beat them to the ground and took you with him.
“(Y/N)!!”
“(Y/N)!! PLEASE WAKE UP!”
“(Y/N)!!! YOU’RE STRONG!! WAKE UP PLEASE!!”
“(Y/N)!!!”
Once your brothers were fine again, they instantly were talking about different plans to get you out of shredders hands.
^Time skip~ Two Years^
Your brothers were still on the lookout for you but they weren’t having any luck, they did however find Casey Jones who knew about Shredder, and your parents. They were also still doing their vigilante jobs, protecting New York from any bad people that resigned in it.
“Something could have happened to her! Like she could have gotten mutated-“
“Well she can turn into a wolf so that sorta makes her a hybrid mutant.”
“I guess...but she could be getting hurt there! Or could have already gotten killed!”
“Calm down Raph, she’s strong. I’m sure she’s still alive.”
“You don’t know that, none of us know that.”
**Raphs POV**
Finally, after finally getting the polices trust we can take down whatever the fuck is building this spaceship in the sky. Especially that it’s destroying New York in the process.
“So we’re going up there then jumping on one of those fucking flying pieces in order to land on the base of the ship thing?” I asked Leo.
“Yes, that’s the only possible way we can get up there.” He confirmed with a small sigh. And we went through with that whole plan. The police got us into the building by putting up their shields so civilians wouldn’t see us and off we went onto the roof. As quick as possible we made it up and we’re figuring out which platform to jump on. Donnie found a good one and we hopped on, not the smoothest ride but it was all we had.
**3rd Person POV**
The fight wasn’t going too smoothly for the brothers, especially when they figured out that krang worked with shredder until something happened. But all they need to to send the ship back into the dimension it was coming from. If only it were that easy but it wasn’t. They were facing a serious hardship, especially with The Krangs Advanced tech and suit. They honestly might have almost given up, until someone came into the battle.
It was a big wolf, same color as they last seen their...sister as...
And the wolf was pretty fucking good too! Ripping off parts of Krangs robotic limbs and even some of his tentacle looking things. Needless to say the turtles were impressed but it still have a bit of a downfall though. The Krangs managed to trap the wolves leg under his foot, not enough to break it but enough to stop the wolf from running. The turtles almost charged into the battle once more until the wolf called out.
“Raph! Give me one of your Sai’s!”
Raph recognized that voice, the only voice that belonged to (y/n). He almost did it without hesitation but he threw one of his sai’s to the wolf. She caught it in her mouth and turned her head to face The Krang. Donnie was watching all of this from the area where he was supposed to make the ship fall apart and go back to where it came from but didn’t do it yet because then they might not have enough time to escape and be sucked into the dimension as well. The wolf then transformed into something but the brothers couldn’t quite see what it was because the light was blinding but after it cleared up they saw someone that they never thought they would see again.
(y/n)
Except you looked more badass, plus you were two years older than they last seen you.
You were quick to think, turning around and stabbing The Krang right in his blobbly face. At this point Donnie had already started the whole “Spacship is going back to its dimension” thing so there was little time but it gave Donnie the ability to fight again so he did what anyone would do if there was a high tech pink blob villain on a giant spaceship and your only weapon was a Bo-Staff that had a taser on one end of it. PLUNG IT STRAIGHT INTO THE HEAD AND ELECTROCUTE THE THING!
^Time skip (sorry) after the fight^
Everything went surprisingly well, they won the battle and they get their sister back. Just because it was a happy day for them and with getting keys to the city, they still are the overprotective brothers you knew and loved. Especially the one in red. You finally got to meet the infamous Casey Jones but not only was he a couple feet away but Raph was behind you the whole time making sure he didn’t say nor look at you the wrong way.
“Come on Raph! I just want to introduce myself to her! Why are you so protective!?”
“Because not only is she my younger sister, she also sacrificed her life for us and I want to be more protective of her even more.”
“Fair point but can I at least shake her hand!”
“NO!”
You were happy to be back, to be back in New York.
And to be back with your brothers. ❤️💙🧡💜

Bay/rise 35!! @errorfreak88 @brightlotusmoon @selfindulgenz @digitl-art-monstr @dakotafinely @yarchurr @sententiously-sarcastic @sprinklestheditty
Leo didn't move as he counted down to the last number. He remained still and waited. Leonardo charged forward with all the energy of a young warrior, and all the foolishness of one too. The first to charge was always the first to fall, and that’s exactly what Leo intended to use toward his benefit. When Leonardo got close enough to potentially land a strike, only then did Leo dare move. It wasn’t for a counter attack, however. He simply sidestepped and let Leonardo pass him by, his gaze never once leaving the eager slider. Leonardo ran a few more paces before he could slow enough to stop, and then he turned and focused his energy in another charge that Leo quickly avoided.
Leonardo didn't charge for a third time. He held his sword out at his side and motioned for Leo to approach him. Leo only smiled and shook his head, copying the motion to try and get Leonardo to approach him instead. It turned into a power struggle of patience, which Leonardo quickly lost. No patience, just as Leo had expected. Young and naive and eager to fight. Leo just had to wait it out.
Leonardo was anticipating the dodge this time and stopped just before Leo sidestepped, then quickly brought his odachi swinging at the older warrior. Leo had his katana ready to meet the attack, and the only sound that filled the air was the crash of metal against metal. Blade against blade in a cold stalemate of will and war. Their eyes met in a moment of thoughtful calculation before Leonardo pulled away quite suddenly and ducked down to attempt a swipe at Leo’s ankles. Leo just barely jumped back and then both turtles returned to their quiet planning at a safe distance.
Again, Leonardo was the first to break the stalemate and charge again. Again and again he broke rank and tried to attack Leo with swift movements and quick blows. Again and again, Leo gave it the barest minimum effort required to thwart the attacks, watching as the slider got more and more exhausted with each passing moment.
From the sidelines April, still decked out in her Leonardo cheer-gear, slumped. She leaned over to whisper to the Mikey’s and Donnie. “This is a lot less dramatic than I thought it was gonna be.”
“Wish I could watch.” Donnie grumbled, his back still turned to the fight as Leo had ordered
April scoffed and nudged Donnie. “Then turn around— ain’t nobody care about that rule!”
“It’s so I can’t snitch…” Donnie said softly, daring a look back so he could address April properly.
April crossed her arms. “We’ll I got a better way to make sure you don’t snitch, because if you do…” She yanked down Donnie by the bridge of his chest until their eyes were level, “Then I’m gonna see how long a turtle can live without its shell. Now turn your ass around and be bored with us!”
April pushed on Donnie with all her might until the box turtle relented and turned around to watch the fight taking place. Leo noticed the breaking of his rule, but he didn't dare risk his focus just to correct Donnie. Not when he stood to face a fleet-footed flight risk.
Leonardo seemed to have caught on to what Leo was doing, but it was several minutes too late. His body already felt heavy from the expended energy. He could feel the muscles below his chest working to pull on his lungs and fill as much of the organs as possible with new, replenishing air. Leo smiled as he saw the younger turtle struggling, but still he didn't move to meet Leonardo. He was constantly forcing the other to come to him. Instead of doing that, Leonardo backed up to Donatello.
“I’m getting my shell kicked out there, Don!” Leonardo whispered urgently.
“What do you want me to do about it?” Donatello asked.
“You’re my second— advise me!”
“Don’t let him hit you.” Was Donatello’s advice.
Leonardo turned to him with a narrow-eyed stare. “Very helpful, Don.”
Leo cleared his throat. “Are we fighting or not?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll get to ya!” Leonardo spat in Leo’s direction, “Can I get some real advice this time, Don?”
“Don’t eat yellow snow.”
“Donnie!”
“Nardo.”
Donatello shoved Leonardo back into the standoff. Leonardo stumbled forward until his blade met with Leo, who had finally started to show the slightest amount of interest in the spar. Though Leo had twin katana, swinging completely independent of each other in a traditional and ancient technique, Leonardo’s sporadic and unconventional attacks were enough to bewilder and confuse the seasoned soldier. Leonardo finally managed to land a slashing blow against Leo’s chest before jumping back out of the katana’s reach.
Leo’s shell was tough, but it was still just scutes covering bone, and scutes bleed. It wasn’t much, but the strike was enough to cause a thin trail of blood to trickle down Leo’s chest and stomach, and Leonardo couldn’t help but eye the wound. Just a scratch, not enough to get infected and minor enough for the scratch to stop bleeding on its own. Already the flow had ceased. Leonardo gave a slight hum at the sight of old scutes that should have shed off of the shell weeks ago, and he made a mental note of pointing out the flaw when he could catch his breath. Leo, spotting his rivals lack of focus, decided to take advantage of it.
Leonardo jumped back. Leo continued to advance. The slider took off running to avoid a few paces. Looking behind him revealed that Leo had stopped, and Leonardo stopped as well, silently cursing himself for wasting even more of his precious energy on a false charge. He couldn’t keep doing this— he had to figure out some method of weakness to exploit. Some advantage that the brute of a box turtle couldn’t expect! He looked down at his odachi, and then the idea struck him like a brick. He smiled.
Leo was almost nervous when he saw the grin, but he kept his stance firm and ready for anything. Or, almost anything. Leonardo laughed before charging the hulking shinobi. He flashed his odachi as if to strike, but swung his blade too soon. Leo raised his katana to meet the attack, but then his mind started turning like the windows loading symbol as Leonardo disappeared in a flash of blue. Leo’s eyes darted everywhere he could imagine the ninja to go, but there was no sign of him. He foolishly turned back to Raph.
“Where’d he go?”
Raph shrugged.
Leo’s answer came in the form of a loud cowabunga! followed by a sudden, unexpected weight slamming down on his shoulders and knocking him to the ground. Leonardo was perched on top of him, standing on the baffled mutant’s shoulders and holding his odachi blade to Leo’s neck for a second before pulling it back and striking a pose.
“Yeah yeah, who’s your champion? Oh yeah! It’s me!” Leonardo started to do a dance on top of Leo.
It took the watching audience a moment to catch on to what had just happened before they all erupted into loud applause and cheers.
“I don’t know how he did that, but that was incredible!” Donnie shifted his glasses in disbelief, then returned to his clapping.
“Speedy Gonzales got skills!” Raph whistled.
“WOO! THAT’S MY BROTHER! GO LEO! WHOOOO!” April cried out.
“Whoop whoop.” Donatello made tired fist pumps.
The cheers of the Mikey’s melded together like clay as they roared, words blurring together into a cloud of excitement. Once the shock was gone, Leo growled and shoved Leonardo off of, grabbing the boy by the throat and hoisting him into the air. The cheers immediately turned into shouts of dismay at the act, and Donnie had to restrain the surprisingly strong April as she tried to charge her brothers attacker. Raph was upon the duo in an instant, ripping them apart and placing himself between them.
“You okay?” He asked Leonardo, who was still catching his breath.
Leonardo gave a thumbs up as he almost keeled over, just barely balancing himself on his knees. Leo tried to shove his way past his brother, but Raph held him back with little strain.
“HE CHEATED!” Leo growled accusingly, motioning at Leonardo while still trying to reach him. Leonardo was quick to scatter to the safety of Donatello.
“That ain’t give you no right to strangle the kid!” Raph said, then turned on Leonardo. “How’d you do that?”
“Mystic sword.” Donatello answered for his brother, “He can teleport using it.”
“Then you lied!” Leo spat, “You cheated!”
“It’s not called lying.” Leonardo said, smiling impishly, “It’s called ‘compartmentalization’.”
Everyone gasped audibly, but none louder than Leo. Leonardo smirked at the personal attack and crossed his arms pointedly.
