I fully believe that once Sirius saw how Regulus got treated, he genuinely believed there was something wrong with him because why was he so difficult? Why would he misbehave? Why can't he just be a Black?

And so out of spite and hatred, he'd act out even more because seeing Walburga treat Regulus so kindly for doing these horrible things brought out a tiny part of him that longed for that type of love, and he hated himself for it.

Eventually, he becomes this self-hating and hate-filled person, but it's all suppressed, so no one really knows except for James, who helped him come to terms with himself and accepted him into his family.

I just re-read opev and then read the first chap of lmpdt and I can't stop thinking about James and Issac meeting. I like Issac. Even with all the bullshit that comes with him. But how will James react to him. Obviously he and Lily will be together. But his feelings for Regulus were pretty intense. How do you think will James feel about Issac?

don’t wanna give too much away, but i’ve never really seen james as a jealous type.

i think he’ll be more sad than anything. he thinks so highly of regulus, even now, so he’d just be a bit disappointed that regulus is almost putting himself down in his relationships and willingly being a second choice to someone he loves. james would just be sad.

i can’t imagine that he’d like isaac. james does not appreciate infidelity, especially with isaac having children. he won’t respect that at all (although he’s also a hypocrite, so james would never lose respect for regulus for being one half of that infidelity.)

but james would still be civil with isaac if they ever interact, no matter his feelings towards him. because for reasons james would never comprehend, regulus cares about isaac so james would play nice just for him :)

Out of curiosity, how do you imagine the Blacks’ appearance? Literally all I can think of is black hair and silver eyes (not gray, but true silver. If they’re magical, I’m giving everyone non-human aspects; their eyes legit glow at times, when excited or doing particularly complex magic. I think the main reason I don't vibe with the popular fcs for them is because facial hair is a big thing for me in men, I can't imagine any of them without it.

I think Sirius would be the most like.. conventionally attractive of them all, in a very masculine but elegant way. Royal beauty, like a prince. He would have softer features when he was young, but then starting 15+ I imagine more facial hair, a sharp jawline, darker tanned skin, silky hair..

Regulus would have the same "elegant masculinity" type of attractiveness, but his features are a little softer:

you ever have that thing happen where you are visibly Not Doing Well and suddenly people (people older than you mostly) that are not super nice in that “I don’t care” kind of way randomly start being super sweet and understanding towards you and you think, yeah this is good, but also. why can’t we just be this kind normally? like maybe, I don’t know, this is the baseline level of compassion for other people that we can show and not everyone who’s Not Doing Well will be visibly Not Doing Well so we should strive to afford kindness to people to the best of our ability no matter what ? maybe we can just be nice?

i know its been talked to death but the consumerism of booktok and booktube is out of this fucking world. people will keep books that they absolutely hated because it looks good on their shelves. they’ll buy 5 copies of the same book, most of which they never even touch, because this edition has sprayed edges or this edition has a poster inside the dust jacket. the emphasis is more on having a shelf filled with pretty books rather than actually thinking about or even really enjoying what you’re reading.

#and don't get me wrong i like having a pretty shelf #and i like having pretty editions of books #but if i hated a book no amount of aesthetic value is saving it i am donating it once my shelves are filled and i need to purge #and i don't buy a bunch of editions of the same book to have all the prettiest ones i pick the one i like the most and buy just that one #the one type of booktube video i watch on the reg is book UNhauls #they sometimes make me angry when i see just how many unread books they have but #i liked watching them confront that they might have a problem lmao #i speak
