Scrolling through Pinterest and I saw a (screenshotted from Tumblr) post that read "No one ever talks about how Rick Riordan literally scammed Disney" and I got so interest like ooh, what kind of corporate hijinks and money did he get out of that -
And the post was just like. "He included POC characters in his books." With a positive spin, sure, but why are we acting like characters of color being present in books means the author had to "scam" to get them in there.
Buddy. That's not a scam. Frankly, I think calling it a "scam" actually kind of devalues it.
