#jaskier being weak for The Shoulder Touch (and accompanying sincerity) two seasons running

I think one of the most unintentionally funny things in The Witcher season 2 is that Jaskier releases THE breakup album of the year (Her Sweet Kiss? Burn Butcher Burn? Jaskier babygirl what other breakup tracks did you write👀) and Geralt... does not even hear any of it. Has no clue. He's too busy being on the run with Ciri. Jaskier is out there musically besmirching his ex's name and his ex's ex's name and Geralt just does not even know it. Hilarious

Shadow and Bone fandom: season two took all these different plot points from the books and crammed them all in s2 without pacing it right and it's like all disorganized!!!!!

Witcher Fandom after a s2 filled with at least five shitty adaptations of scenes/storylines from the books and at least three shittier entirely original plotlines:

it really feels like the twn writers read geraskier fics because there's too many fanon things that ended up in s3: Bi Jaskier, Geralt communicating his feelings and thanking him, "Jask", people recognising Jaskier not only as a bard but as a viscount and being in awe of him, his proven competence, etc. Maybe they finally realised we don't like him being the butt of the joke and the comic relief, maybe my expectations for this season were so low that I was pleasantly surprised, but I don't believe in coincidences. The conversations were just too good for the writers to not have sought inspiration elsewhere. We know some of them hate the books and there's fics out there that are masterpieces, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm so glad OFMD did not truly live in my heart but somewhere in the left stomach area that's empty and can't be harmed by blades, only by bullets.

We have a whole idiomatic phrase for this, and it's OLD - jumping the shark. Series have a tendency to do that but it used to be in their 7th full season, if we were fortunate.

I might not have given it my heart because it was still a WIP, I think it wasn't just luck but trust issues.

I have a distinctive memory of thinking "woohoo, canon is over and this is sooo not-canon, nothing can ever happen to them" when I dove into my Geralt/Emhyr obsession.

If I was as involved with OFMD as I am with Geralt/Emhyr, if it had really been my big thing, I'd be crushed right now.

As is, I'm majorly, MAJORLY pissed off and I sympathise strongly with those who HAD their laser focus on an Izzy ship. I hope you'll find peace in fanfics or another ship. Have you ever considered Emralt

Also can we all agree that it feels like this season was so rushed and mixed because the people that make shows for Netflix are genuinely scared they will never get to tell a story more than two seasons long (if they’re lucky) ? It really felt like « let’s put the best stuff from the book, mix it in, let’s rush everything else, cause we know weee getting cancelled somehow » this whole system is ridiculous and is destroying shows that were so promising

Two thirds into the last episode of Shadow and Bone season 2 and I have one and only one question :

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Seriously, no. What the fuck is happening?????????????

Why are they pulling a Lauren Hirsch NOW after 6 solid episodes????

Episodes 1 to 6 made sense. They were good, coherent, fun and still true enough to Canon to be enjoyable.

Episoded 7 and 8 just threw out the entire saintsforsaken script out of the window and decided to go full AU, with some elements kept, some elements completely discarded and others moved around to early or to late in the timeline.

And I don't like it. It changes too much. It's not enjoyable anymore, not in the sense that the episode isn't entertaining to watch (I'm finally getting some Matthias screentime), but in the sense that it closes too many doors to tell future stories. It doesn't make sense, both inside the canon story, and inside the two-degrees-to-the-left alternate version thry had started to tell. The same way Lauren Hirsch fucked up The Witcher by completely changing the characters' personal timelines and the events of the story, the SaB team ft Bardugo also changed too much.

Yeah, if they had actually stopped season 2 at episode 6, and then kept following the events of the Ruin and Rising book with some prequel Six of Crows stuff, and made them into a 3rd season, it would have made more sense. And then give us the Six of Crows spin-off standalone show. (I demand an actual 6oC show, that actually follows the books, thanks)

Again, this is just my (and apparently the others too) opinion as a book-reader. I do wonder if none bookreaders who went into the show without knowing anything feel about season 2? Are you guys liking it, is it objectively good when one stops trying to reunite show with book?

Also they need to stop pushing Nikolai/Alina and Inej/Tolya, especially that second one, DO NOT BREAK KANEJ OR I WILL BURN YOU DOWN. And freaking give us Zoyalai ya cowards.

Okaaaaaay, as I was composing my review, I reached the end, and... the end of the episode makes as much bloody (see what I did there) sense as the beginning, that is to say: NONE.

STOP TRYING TO RUSH THE PLOT. The advantage of TV show is that you can take the time to establish your characters and your timeline of events. Stop. Trying. To. Make. Everything. Happen. At. The. Same. Time. Show is not movie!!!!! I'm getting upset now. Ugh. What a letdown. And it had started well.

Okay I'm only on episode 3 of season 3 of The Witcher but I'm seeing gifsets of part 2 and GERALT WHUMP?! SAD/ANGSTY JASKIER!? A NEW JASKIER SONG!? OH MY GOD I NEED TO CATCH UP!!!!!!

s3 of the witcher obviously needs to have damsel in distress jaskier (the parallels gif sets of him saying damsel in distressing is his job and then him being in distress would be glorious) with yen and geralt teaming up to rescue him
