Mannerisms

This was supposed to be a simple quick drawing of Hunter and Eberwolf next to each other with the same :3 face and then I got ambitious. Worth it.

Firstly, Eberwolf speaking in broken english is on purpose. Don't leave a comment about that I will point you to the description. This is a thingin my fics; I make Eberwolf (and all palismen) speak in broken English as an artistic choice.

Anyway, I gave Darius the classic queer hand (you know the one lol) and HOLY SHIT I got carried away with the comments on Hunter's post. I spent so much time positioning them it's not even funny.

Side note I got the idea about Kiki getting stuck in the toilet from Hazbin Hotel. I mean... Nifty and Kikimora are honsetly kinda similar lol.

Also changed Hunter's pfp to Flapjack because I feel like he'd change it from his old Golden Guard one.

There are a bunch of theories speculating how Belos knows, so plot twist; They’re all correct.

Steve has been impersonated by Adrian, who is revealed to be a basilisk.

Another character is invisible and watching from the ‘empty’ seat cushion.

Lilith’s scrying potion accidentally established a two-way link that Belos is using.

The Oracle and Potion Heads have made their own scrying potion that Terra slipped into Raine’s tea, in anticipation of their trickery.

But just to play it safe, she’s also spying on them through the snapdragon flower at the hideout.

The Collector is watching King via their connection but also through those cubes that let people peer through reflections.

Raine is intentionally leaking information but it’s a false traitor gambit designed to lull Belos into a false sense of security; They’ve outsmarted Belos’ outsmarting of their own outsmarting of Terra’s... Outsmarting... Okay everyone just kinda lost track of what was going on which left huge blind spots to accidentally exploit, blindly made a move, and it actually worked when they honestly expected it to be anticipated.

Kikimora is bullshitting to sow distrust but is coincidentally right, and so has accidentally revealed Belos’ plans because her luck just sucks lately. She said Belos has eyes everywhere, eyes PLURAL, he’s exercising EVERY possible method to keep track of the CATTs.

I love when TOH introduces silly, evil character and then it turns into something horrific, like with Kiki and Flora. Funny Kiki, cringe fail woman,,,She's known the entire time that Belos has been killing GGs and still wanted to give Hunter to Belos

Genuinly what is going on in that bucket she calls a head? Eavesdropped enough to know about the Collector, about the pit, most likely knew Hunter was abused due to that and still tried to make him fail, to kill him, to capture him, knowing that Belos would maul him.

And Flora? Silly reference to Dora the Explorer? In a cut HM portrait it's implied that Belos used her to ensure the time loop with Lilith and Luz happens. Being send by Belos to observe and hand Lilith the exact device she used to find a time pool.

On top of that she is a historian, one of the people very much driving Belos' propaganda machine by spreading false history. AND as beast wranglerer she would also be very useful when Belos needs lets say,,,selkie scales, stonesleeper lungs.

(The Flora thing was very much not explored fully but Kiki?? Darius better jail her, she's known the entire time where his mentors body is currently rotting and said nothing and then almost killed his future son TWICE)

So there's gonna be chaos after Belos' death, and people are going to need structure, they're going to look to for guidance. So I can see people temporarily resuming the coven system form of government for the sake of simplicity, until they can all repair and then figure stuff out. So given what we've seen of Terra, Adrian, and Vitimir, what if they tried to run for election as the new Emperor of the Boiling Isles; Everyone was betrayed and targeted by Belos, so it's easy and not really untrue to hide under the defense that they also didn't know better and meant well.

I'm just imagining it now; The Coven Heads agreeing to an election to prevent a messy war, competing over the role of new, interim Emperor, and vying for control in a mostly-legitimate way. Adrian obsesses over getting his campaign videos and presentations right, but his notoriety as a bad and incompetent boss quickly spreads and he becomes like that Jeb Bush meme. Hettie Cutburn utilizes her E-girl status and understanding of social media to cultivate a decent following.

Given Abomatons were present during the failed sabotage, I like to think they have the ability to record footage, and Alador released the footage of the CATTs trying to prevent the draining spell to give them validity. Mason would've been a popular candidate, being seen as a witch of the people, but he's not sure if he can trust his own judgment after misplacing his trust in Belos; So instead he throws his support behind the CATTs. There’s accusations of staged footage but some people were able to notice the commotion from below, and Mason’s support adds trust, but of course others like Terra and Vitimir will attempt to discredit.

Osran is forced to drop out early from the election because everyone places particular responsibility and thus blame on him for failing to predict Belos' treachery. Kikimora would've attempted to run for election given her previous role as Belos' right hand, and bring up the fact that she saved everyone by introducing King to the Collector; However, the kids at Hexside made sure to keep her in the dungeons to prevent this. And thank goodness for that, as she considered spinning the narrative that the draining spell was only because of the CATTs’ sabotage, and that Belos is being slandered (so as his confidant Kikimora can preserve his image to hitchhike on it).

In the end, at least one of the CATTs is elected (maybe Darius since Eber is fairly nonverbal and Raine has stage fright), and there's a bit of awkwardness in that a lot of citizens don't consider the idea of a dictator to be inherently flawed, and are assured that this new one is an actual good guy so there's nothing to worry about; So then you have the CATTs using their power to pass legislation that lessens it, and results in the council system that the writers confirmed as canon.

Technically, nothing's saying Raine, Darius, and Eberwolf are the ONLY members of our confirmed council (signified by their Titan badges); For all we know, Hettie, Mason, and Osran are included given they're not depicted among the coven heads who clung to the old structure for power. Just because they didn't show up in the epilogue doesn't necessarily mean they aren't up to anything; It's just that Doylistically speaking, the epilogue is meant to check up one final time on characters the audience was actually introduced to and thus familiar with!

Something that I see getting a bit overlooked in discussions about the Emperor's Coven is their incompetency. Yes it's for comedic effect, yes cartoon rules BUT the show actually gave us some reasons.

Firstly, the god awful working conditions. Deadly training, one day off per year, toxic competitiveness, the backstabbing, the opportunism.

And secondly, the lack of competent superiors. Lilith was stated to be canonically bad at her job and we definitely see it. Kikimora as well who cared more about climbing the ladder rather than doing her job properly. And Hunter? He is just too young for this and he buckles not only cause he is subjected to these conditions but also cause he needs to deal with Belos as well.

All this doesn't create an environment where people would be competent or an organization that would work like a well oiled machine. And we can blame this all on Belos. He set his empire up in way that will work but just barely, cause why should he make an effort to make the lives of some witches, good? They are all gonna die either way, so good working conditions is really not on his list of priorities 💀

THE GLOVES (part 1)

Okay lets talk about the glove thing.

There is a lot of speculations what Hunter is hiding underneath them. Here are some of the most interesting theories:

scars

some specific grimwalker atribute

maybe just cold "dead man's hands"

the gloves hide or are some sort of hand stabilizer because his muscles are so fucked up idk maybe he broke his bones or something

maybe its something about Belos recycling grimwalker's parts and them becoming somehow weaker over the years

Yet taking in consideration that the only time we have seen him gloveless is in Dana's artwork and from her drawings it doesn't look like there's something wrong with his hands.

Also knowing that gloves are an important part of every coven scout's uniform/armour it's safe to assume they are not there only for aesthetic purposes.

Actually there are diffrent kinds of military gloves you can find on the internet that look like something people/witches that sometimes have to endure with dangerous creatures and hand to hand combat would like to wear to avoid unnecesary injuries.

(sorry that these screenshots aren't in english but u get the idea)

Description to these type of gloves just basically says that they help make your grip better, help with outdoors work and are in general a comfortable armour for your fingers.
