Transylvania is a historical region located in Romania. The area popularly became associated with vampires after the publication of Bram Stoker's Dracula novel in 1897. As such, it has been named as the original homeland of Count von Count.
On Sesame Street, it is suggested that Transylvania is just as celebratory of numbers as the Count. Episode 2301 takes place on the national holiday Transylvania Counting Day, where citizens don snappy (and water resistant) jackets and hats to count to 40 with. In Episode 3262, it is shown that the nation's clocks don't operate on a normal 12-hour schedule, but rather a 19-hour one.
Though often merely referred to, Transylvania has been seen on the show on a few occasions. Episode 3012 contains a flashback to the day the Count, as a young lad, intends to leave his home for America. An edition of The Count's Storybook Theatre, "The Magnificent 7," takes place in a Transylvanian village.
In the examples above, it is shown that the residents of Transylvania speak English, but like the Count, they all pronounce their "V"s as "W"s, and vice-versa. Despite this, they seem also have their own regional language as well. The Count teaches Maria to count in Transylvanian in Episode 1130, and he also counted backwards in his native tongue to launch his rocket ship.
The nation has also been the subject for a number of songs by the Count, including "The Transylvania Polka," "Transylvania 1-2-3-4-5," and "Transylvania Love Call."
Like much of our world, a Grouch equivalent seems to exist as well, named Trashsylvania (mentioned as the home of Grundgetta's aunt in Episode 2730). Elsewhere, the location has been mentioned as being the homeland of The Muppet Show's wardrobe mistress Hilda, introducing a sketch taking place there in episode 119.

According to episode 2301 of Sesame Street, the poopki is Transylvania's national (but foul-tasting) fish.

#TheLastofUs episode 7 was another improvement over the source material. I totally bought into Ellie and Riley’s relationship. Stellar acting.
The lyrics in “Run Run Run” are inspired by #JodiArias and #ShaynaHubers, two high-profile crime cases that involve a woman murdering their ex. No, I’m not a misogynist, GoBoy has songs about psycho men as well (i.e. “Dean Corll”).
I watched Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared (#DHMIS) season one while mixing vocals for “Run Run Run.” Basically a psychological #horror disguised as a #Muppets-style children’s tv show. It has a rabid fanbase, so I checked it out, and it’s… awesome. Moments of it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and other moments made me laugh hysterically in shock and horror.
Being an enormous fan of electropop / synthpop bands from the 2000s (#MetroStation, #ThePostalService, #TheClickFive, etc.), I try to add synth melodies to GoBoy songs wherever I can. The first 13 seconds of “Run Run Run” really scratch the itch to hear those sorts of synth melodies. Not only that, but it prepares the listener for the vocal melody before the vocals kick in (excerpts from post 118).
The original plan for GoBoy 7 was to post videos on YouTube of every element of production, from writing to recording, to mixing, to mastering, to cover art creation, to uploading, and that’s exactly what I started doing for songs 117-121. After posting four videos of myself writing the melodies, structures and lyrics for songs 117-121, a total of 18.75 hours of footage, I got cold feet during the vocal recording phase and abandoned ship. GoBoy is a music endeavor, not a video endeavor. It was simply too uncomfortable having a camera on me at all times while working, and it really sucked the joy out of the creation process. Maybe I’ll revisit this idea in the future, but not for GoBoy 7 (excerpt from post 117).
Watched #HouseoftheDragon season 1 on HBO Max during the mixing of songs 117-121. That show was such a pleasant surprise that I downloaded the audiobook #FireandBlood by #GeorgeRRMartin and listened to it over the course of a few days. It’s amazing, and fans of the 1st season are going to be mind blown by upcoming seasons (excerpt from post 117).
Suffered from a serious eye problem while producing songs 117-121, which resulted in the temporary loss of about 50% of my vision. Remarkably, after halting the use of a bleach product in my apartment, my eyes ultimately healed back to normal after a few weeks. Resilient organs, our eyeballs are. I was fully mentally prepared for permanent vision impairment (excerpt from post 117).
With songs 117-119 being completed simultaneously, I had to decide their chronological order. Believing “Brianna” to be the most unique and catchiest of the three, I decided to make it song 117, and believing “Run Run Run” to be the worst of the three, I made it song 119 (excerpt from post 117).

Thudge McGerk
DEBUT 1977
PERFORMER Jerry Nelson
Thudge Mcgerk is a Muppet Monster who appeared in Statler and Waldorf's balcony after they had invoked his memory in episode 119 of The Muppet Show. He has three eyes, green hair, long orange horns, and big ugly fangs.
According to the hecklers, Thudge was a scary actor in the vein of Vincent Price. His last film was Phantom of the Soap Opera. He likes butter on his popcorn.
Thudge was constructed from the Miss Kitty puppet with an extra eye, patches of green hair, orange horns, long fangs, and a tongue.

eyy we have some birthdays!!!
The Count is October 9th, which makes him a Libra and Oscar is June 1st, which makes him a Gemini! Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be one for Sam and Deadly, but I could go with the obvious and make them June 4th and October 31st respectively... that might be a bit too obvious, though.
Sam’s first appearance was on The Muppet Show; Sex and Violence which aired March 19th, 1975! So that could be a potential one (and that’d make him a Pisces). Deadly’s first one was in a skit with Vincent Price in episode 119, which aired January 31, 1977! (That’d make him an Aquarius!)
I’m an Aries... so as of now we got a fire sign with three air signs and a water sign (Pisces being the water sign)... funny how that happened. Air signs are supposed to be the most compatible with Fire ones!

March 28th 1978~ Filming for Alice's appearance in The Muppets Show continues Alice sets an eerie mood for the show from the moment he tells Scooter that the monsters in his dressing room aren't The Muppet Show's; they're his. Even the floating blue mass that comes out of Gonzo's horn in the opening has an otherworldly feel to it. Alice later reveals himself to be an agent of The Devil, offering the Muppets "fabulous riches and worldwide fame" in a Faustian exchange for their souls. Kermit shudders at the idea, Miss Piggy gives it a test run but ultimately decides it's not worth the sacrifice (or the makeover), and Gonzo spends much of the episode looking for a pen to sign the contract. He becomes so desperate that he, in quick succession, offers to trade the Vile Bunch Drummer a chicken, all of his chickens, and finally his soul for a pen before realizing that he has "other plans for that." As with episode 119, which guest starred Vincent Price, this episode revolves around the theme of "ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties and things that go bump in the night." Most of the action, both onstage and off, has a weird atmosphere, even when the guest star is not involved: the monstrous Germ attacks Beaker in Muppet Labs; the "Toothache" sketch with talking speleothems; and Pigs in Space, in which Link, Miss Piggy, Dr. Strangepork, and even the Swinetrek itself become mere animated outlines of their three-dimensional selves. The only "normal" moment in the show comes after Fozzie Bear, faced with some fanged Whatnot children in the canteen, begs for "one thing nice on this show tonight" - Robin the Frog answers his prayers by performing an understated and uninterrupted rendition of "Over the Rainbow." When Gonzo scares everyone with his "voice of doom" before appearing onstage in a flash of light at the end of the show, Kermit is afraid that the paper in his hand is a signed contract with the Devil. Gonzo instead reveals it to be the bill from Special Effects, to which Alice and the Monsters shiver in fear at something truly scary to them. The show would not be aired until November 2nd in the US and November 24th in The UK http://ift.tt/2nor6kX

George the Janitor
PERFORMER Frank Oz
DEBUT 1974
DESIGN Bonnie Erickson
George the Janitor is the crotchety old custodian of the Muppet Theater whose most prominent appearances were on the first season of The Muppet Show.
George appeared in The Muppets Valentine Show, the 1974 pilot for The Muppet Show. In the special, George grumbles as he cleans up after the Muppets, who are trying to define "love". George insists that he doesn't "go for that valentines and love stuff," but guest star Mia Farrow realizes that George does love something -- his mop. "Aw, that's crazy," George says. "I don't love this mop. It's a good mop... it's useful. It's... cute." In the end, George proudly proclaims his love for his mop.
On The Muppet Show, George was primarily featured in the backstage plots, but he made occasional onstage appearances, most frequently in "At the Dance" sketches, where he danced almost exclusively with Mildred Huxtetter. George was credited with discovering an act called the Raggmopps, a group of singing and dancing mops who performed "Rag Mop" in episode 111. George approvingly referred to the group as "my kinda act."
In episode 106, George revealed that he had been working at the Muppet Theater since before J. P. Grosse owned it, perhaps implying that he is the theater's oldest employee.
In the second season of The Muppet Show, George made a handful of background appearances, most notably in "Cigarettes and Whiskey" in episode 219 and "For What It's Worth" in episode 221. However, he was no longer seen backstage as the janitor. By the third season, George had been replaced entirely by Beauregard, the theater's new resident janitor.
Although George made no further appearances on The Muppet Show, he continued to appear in the show's opening sequences throughout its run, and made cameos in several Muppet movies, including The Muppet Christmas Carol, where he was again portrayed by Frank Oz (using a slightly different voice) in the song about Ebenezer Scrooge. Like J. P. Grosse and other Muppet Show alums, George's identity had become increasingly transient at this point, functioning more as a utility puppet than a distinct character.
George appeared in the premiere of Muppets Tonight as Benjamin Franklin, with a different voice. However, in the next episode, for George's final appearance to date, he returned to his custodial roots, as he was shown sweeping the KMUP studio.
George returns in the background of the first issue of the Muppet Show Comic Book, where he and Beauregard give each other a surprised stare, referencing the fact that both first appeared 2 years apart from each other. He also pops up in Issue 4, when Madame Rhonda reads his palm.

Grumpy janitor for the Muppet Theater; Mildred Huxtetter’s dance partner; mop lover
WHO IS GEORGE THE JANITOR?
George the Janitor was the original and only member of the custodial staff of the Muppet Theater for quite some time. He was always around mopping up during Season 1 of The Muppet Show, but in Episode 106 he complained about J.P. Grosse’s ownership of the Theater, implying that he had worked there prior to J.P. owning it.
The first time George appeared was in The Muppets Valentine Show pilot which aired in 1974. George was extremely grumpy and fed up with the Muppets trying to define love. However, guest star Mia Farrow soon discovered that George truly loves his mop, which he calls “cute,” proving that he’s not as coarse as he may seem. George went on to appear in The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence pilot and Des O’Connor Presents before The Muppet Show debuted.
Once The Muppet Show debuted, George was a secondary player exclusively in Season 1, featuring mostly in backstage plots. However, one of George’s best known roles was in the “At the Dance” segments on the show, where he was partners with Mildred Huxtetter. George’s favorite jokes in these segments were variations on a classic in which Mildred would ask something like, “Do you like Kipling?” and George would respond, “I dunno! I never kippled!”
After Season 1, George was delegated exclusively to background roles in acts on the show. Throughout Season 2 and for one episode of Season 3, George would make occasional, non-speaking appearances. However, by Season 3, George was completely phased out as janitor in favor of Beauregard, who has held the job at the Muppet Theater ever since.
But that was not the end for old George, the janitor had a singing line in the song “Scrooge” in The Muppet Christmas Carol and also popped up in The Muppet Movie, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and Muppet Treasure Island. George’s final onscreen appearances were in the first two episodes of Muppets Tonight in 1996. In Episode 101 he portrayed Benjamin Franklin, but in Episode 102 he was fittingly seen cleaning KMUP Studios, back with his beloved mop. Though he hasn’t appeared onscreen in over 15 years, George brief comic book cameos recently in The Muppet Show Comic Book and Muppet Robin Hood.

A rare photo of Miss Kitty and an early J.G. Frackle, The Muppet Show.
Miss Kitty
PERFORMER various DEBUT 1970
“Miss Kitty” is a purple monster who first appeared as a Frackle with a match in The Great Santa Claus Switch, performed by Richard Hunt. When he appeared on The Muppet Show, his nose was changed from green to blue, and his eyes were enlarged.
The character was named during his first appearance on The Muppet Show, in the “Cowboy Time” sketch on episode 101. As Rowlf walked through the saloon, he greeted the monster as “Miss Kitty,” in a gag reference to saloon owner Miss Kitty Russell from the radio and television Western series Gunsmoke.
Despite the joke, the character has a male voice and usually has male characteristics. However, like other utility Muppets and background characters, gender can change according to the needs of the sketch; for example, in a wig, Miss Kitty is used as the female love interest of the “All of Me” singer on episode 108.
Like many Muppet Monsters, Miss Kitty had no consistent performer. His known performers include:
Dave Goelz: Episodes 101, 103, and 107 Jim Henson: Episode 113 Richard Hunt: Episode 119 The Miss Kitty puppet was also reworked for Thudge McGerk in episode 119 (where the character also appears, in unaltered form, in At the Dance and the closing song “You’ve Got a Friend”).
