CW: Canon-typical violence, implied abuse of a child
Tumblr media
Elijah watched as his brother tore into the man's throat. It was savage and gruesome and entirely unnecessary when draining him of his life blood would have sufficed.
Complete overkill.
And yet, Elijah reveled in the man's pained and horrified screams. Basked under the knowledge that all his cries for help were in vain. No one would be around for miles, Elijah himself had made sure of that.
"You couldn't contain yourself for one more bloody minute, Nik?"
Elijah let his gaze drift over to the stomping figure of his sister.
Rebekah's glare passed between both of her brothers but ultimately settled on Klaus, who held the whimpering man by the back of his bloodied neck.
Klaus rolled his eyes, scowl prominent, made more impressive with the fresh coating of blood dripping down his chin onto his navy blue Henley shirt.
"Why are you here Rebekah? I thought I told you to stay back with—"
His words caught in his throat as he spotted the small figure that had hidden behind his sister.
Wide, innocent eyes looked over in his direction before settling on the victim at Klaus' feet.
Elijah quickly strode over and blocked the young girl's view of the barbaric scene. He placed a gentle touch onto her tiny shoulder, his face devoid of the satisfaction it once held when looking at the man's bloodied form, and morphed into warm adoration as his brown eyes met the young girl's.
"You shouldn't be here, Baby Bird." His tone was soft and soothing. The young girl looked up at him, her eyes fluttering shut in contentment as Elijah's large calloused hands stroked her hair.
Rebekah huffed from behind the small girl, her hands landing pointedly on her hips, "That's what I told her!"
"So, pray tell, sister, why she's not where she's supposed to be?" Klaus growled from behind Elijah, the elder Mikaelson silently asking that same question with the hard look he threw to his little sister.
Before Rebekah could respond at her brother's unwanted tone, movement from the youngest of them caused the retort on the tip of her mouth to die out.
The young girl stood back from Elijah's gentle caresses as she moved her hands deftly, signing to the tall vampire before her.
Please don't be mad at her. I told her I would start to cry if she didn't let me.
Klaus had stepped away from the bloodied man he'd been maiming, leaving his trembling body where it was, confident that his prey wouldn't move from his spot on the ground. He'd moved closer to his brother once he'd wiped the remnants of blood from his chin, and caught sight of the child's signing.
Her wide eyes looked over to him the instant he came within view. Her eyes pleading for him to reserve his anger and judgment from Rebekah.
The hybrid knelt before her, hands reaching to cup her tiny face. Her small hands grasped his wrists and she nuzzeled her cheek against his right hand, a serene smile forming on her lips. Her eyes shone with such unconditional love and admiration for the vampire-werewolf before her, that Klaus himself found it difficult to maintain his irritation at Rebekah's failure to keep the child away.
"You still shouldn't be here, Little Wing. Elijah and I wish to keep you away from these...incidents."
Her brows furrowed and her lips formed into a pout. She slowly stepped away from his warm hands and began to sign once again.
Are you going to kill him?
Klaus looked over to his siblings briefly. Unspoken conversation passing between the three with ease. Centuries of sticking together through all manner of situations made them experts in the small tells and movements their siblings had.
Elijah was the one to answer, as he, too, genuflected before the child, tenderly taking her hand and resting it upon his lifted knee, stroking small circles on the back of her hand, "He must pay for the suffering and torment he has inflicted upon you, sweetling. He is not worthy of your compassion."
While she could see the form of said man from over Elijah's shoulder, the elder vampire held her full attention as she answered back.
I'm a bad person, too.
The three siblings went rigid at the girl's confession. Rebekah, mimicking her brothers as she fell to her knees at the young girl's side. She stroked a hand across the child's hair, "You are not. Why would you say something like that?"
Tears formed along the ridge of her wide eyes as she eyed each sibling before looking down at her hands before responding.
I'm not compassionate. I don't feel bad for him. I hate him. Doesn't that make me bad?
Their reactions were immediate. Each Mikaelson placed a hand upon the child in comfort. Rebekah held her right hand, Klaus held her left hand, and Elijah cupped her cheek once more.
"It makes you human, sweetling." Elijah's smooth baritone assured her warmly. his warm brown gaze held her own as he continued, "He has hurt you in a way no parent ever should. You have every right to hate him. That doesn't make you bad."
A single tear escaped from her eye. Klaus wiped it away with his finger. The child looked over at his brilliant blue hues.
"I can make you forget, if you wish."
Rebekah and Elijah looked at their brother sharply. Their protest dying on their lips as he held a hand up for them to allow him to finish.
His Little Wing cocked her head in confusion.
"I can make it so you would believe we compelled him to leave. That he packed his stuff and that he left this town, leaving you forever and never looking back." The hybrid glanced back at the passed out form of the man before turning his focus back toward the child, his eyes cold and unwavering, "I will make him suffer and beg for forgiveness. And he will die tonight."
His grip on her small hand tightened just a smidge, "I have killed and maimed for less, Little Wing. What he has done to you...it is unforgivable. My anger shall be your justice, my hands will deliver your judgment, but you need not remember this, if it will be a burden on your mind."
The girl looked down at her feet. The swell of adoration and love that bloomed across her chest was unlike anything she'd ever felt before. The fact that these three people, these vampires were showing her the love and care that she had sought from her father for years since her mother's death, was slightly overwhelming but it filled her heart with endless joy.
She thought back to all her moments with her father and the reality that every memory that crossed her mind was one of pain, hurt, or sadness sealed away any thoughts of redemption for him. Klaus was right. The knowledge of his death would haunt her mind. She didn't know if she was ready to carry that consciously with her, so she looked at him, eyes brimming with tears as she nodded her head, the hand Rebekah held coming free as she signed.
I want to forget.
He nodded. Elijah and Rebekah said nothing. Their brother had been kind enough to give the girl a choice and her decision had been made. So, they said nothing as Klaus turned the girl away from the body of her father. His blue eyes captured her gaze as he compelled the child.
Elijah and Rebekah stood from their kneeling, circling around so that the child would not glance back and see the bloody scene behind her.
Rebekah mumbled to her eldest brother, "I'm staying. I want to get a couple of hits in before Nik finishes him."
Elijah glanced briefly at his baby sister before staring back at the child, "Do throw in a few punches on my behalf. Perhaps a broken femur?"
The blonde woman smiled at his request, "Of course, brother."
Klaus stood from his position, their small ward's hand held in his. He looked to Elijah, having heard Rebekah's declaration of staying here.
"Sleepy yet, Baby Bird?" Elijah asked warmly.
As if on cue, the young girl yawned adorably wide. Her nose scrunched up cutesy as she blinked tiredly at the eldest brother. She smiled sheepishly before lifting her arms up in a clear sign for him to carry her.
Elijah did so without question, his arms securing her to his form. Her arms wrapped around his neck and she settled her head in the crook of his neck.
"We'll see you soon, Little Wing." Klaus whispered, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"Sleep well, Birdie." Rebekah muttered as she placed a gentle kiss to the child's crown.
After quick glances of assurance to his siblings, Elijah sped away from the crime scene.

Fandom: The Vampire Diaries/The Originals
Day 30 Prompt: "Are you with me?"
Summary: When Finn is undaggered and starts conspiring with his mother to destroy the Originals, Elijah calls in the one person who might be able to convince him this immortal life is worth living: his wife.
Word Count: 3,898
Category: Fluff
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
After more than 900 years of being a vampire, not a lot surprised me anymore. But when I woke up one morning to a call from Elijah Mikaelson, surprise bordering on shock was the overwhelming emotion.
I'd picked up the call without thinking about it, without checking the number. Even though I hadn't spoken to Elijah in hundreds of years, I still recognized his voice in an instant. He asked if he'd dialed the right number to reach me, and all I could do was exist in shocked silence for a few long moments.
I waited to respond for a few extra moments after snapping out of it, briefly debating hanging up. If it had been a different Mikaelson sibling, I would have done it. But if Elijah had tracked down my number to call me, I figured it must be for something important.
"...Yeah, Elijah, it's me. What do you... what do you want?"
I could hear his heavy sigh on the other end of the line, and I had to bite back a laugh. Once upon a time, I'd started to consider that sigh of exasperation the familiar gesture of family.
"Niklaus has broken his curse," he finally said. My heart stopped dead, but I tried not to let it show in my voice.
"Okay. And what does that have to do with me?"
"Niklaus also managed to kill our father, Mikael, and now that he's succeeded... he's undaggered our siblings."
"What?" I breathed. This couldn't be real. I must've been dreaming or something.
"He kept his word to me, albeit after taking advantage of a loophole," Elijah continued. "Finn has been undaggered, along with Kol and Rebekah. We're in Mystic Falls."
I sat down heavily in the nearest chair, my mind reeling. I'd been in love with Finn from the moment I'd met him, literal ages and lifetimes ago. We'd been inseparable from the moment Finn first started courting me, and although his family initially had mixed feelings, Finn had turned me and we'd gotten married with (mostly) full support.
And then, about fifty years into our marriage, Klaus had gotten angry at Finn, and daggered him. I'd spent about another fifty trying to get him back, until Klaus had almost killed me. He'd told me the next time I made a "rescue attempt", he wouldn't hold back. I was ready to keep going anyway, until he also threatened to dump Finn's body in the ocean, never to be found. I couldn't risk him following through. So I'd mourned the love of my life as if he was dead, and then I'd ditched every last other member of his family for good.
Until now. The thought that he was back, finally, free from that stupid box... It didn't seem real.
"Elijah, I've had very little issue with you in our long, long lives, but all the same... why should I believe you?"
"Why would I lie?"
"For Klaus."
"To accomplish what?"
I paused at that. I racked my brain, but I couldn't think of anything the middlest Mikaelson would possibly want with me. If there was something, I would've heard from him before now. And I hadn't. He'd left me alone for the past 850 years.
"Finn has been undaggered for a few days," Elijah continued, correctly reading my lack of protest as a green flag to continue. "I used my connections to track you down because we have a problem, and it seems like one you would be best able to solve."
Now it was my turn for an exasperated sigh through my nose.
"So you did call me for an agenda."
"One that serves you and Finn both." I rolled my eyes, and although Elijah couldn't see it, I had a feeling he knew what I was doing. "Our mother has mysteriously returned from the dead. Like our father, she is determined to wipe us off the Earth, as she feels our current forms are abominations. Unlike our father, she's been trying to talk us into agreeing with her and choosing to end our own lives."
I gasped, a scowl making its way onto my face. I didn't exactly love all of the Mikaelson siblings, but for a mother to try to convince her own children to kill themselves was absolutely horrific, no matter how many times I'd thought about killing her children myself.
"She hasn't made any inroads with any of us," Elijah reassured me. "Except... for Finn."
"You're joking."
"I'm not. Since being undaggered, my brother has expressed freely his feelings that immortality, especially as a vampire, is a curse that he wishes to end. My mother has only fed this mindset, and now I fear the two of them are working together to end all of us."
"And what do you want me to do about that, exactly?" I asked, even as I moved around my house to start packing a bag. If there was even a glimmer of hope that I could help Finn, I would. Even after 900 years, I knew if the positions were reversed, he would do the same for me.
"I'm hoping you can talk him off the ledge, so to speak," Elijah answered. "Keep everyone alive and well."
"I'm going to stop you right there, Elijah. It feels like you're building to threatening Finn, and I've had enough of that from your family for a million more lifetimes. I'll be there later today. Just tell me where I can find Finn."
"...I'll make sure he's at the Mystic Grill. It's a restaurant in the middle of town, you can't miss it."
"Great. See you in a few hours."
I hung up before he could say anything else.
Quickly, I finished throwing my things into a bag, then hurried out to my car. I had no time to waste if I wanted to save Finn.
Luckily for me, the drive only took a few hours, which gave me time to process everything Elijah had told me and that I'd have to face in Mystic Falls. It still didn't feel quite real that I was about to see Finn again.
That hazy dream finally faded when I walked through the doors of the Mystic Grill, my bags still in the car. I scanned the room and like a heat-seeking missile found Elijah in a corner booth, sitting across from someone who still had their back to me. The last time I'd seen Finn, he'd had hair down past his shoulders. But even from the back, with a new haircut and modern clothing, I knew it was him.
I quickly crossed the room, my heart speeding up with every step, until I stood before both of them. Elijah immediately turned to look at me, but I only had eyes for Finn.
He looked remarkably good, considering he'd been in a box for 900 years. He stared at Elijah with a raised eyebrow, then slowly turned to follow Elijah's gaze until he saw me.
The world stopped, and everyone else in the room disappeared. Finn, my Finn, the one I thought I'd lost any hope of ever seeing again, the man I loved beyond all else, was here. Sitting before me, looking at me with familiar hazel eyes. Alive.
"Finn," I breathed, the smallest of smiles tugging itself onto my face. An instant later, thanks to vampire speed, he had me wrapped tight in his arms. He breathed my name into my hair, so quietly that even Elijah's super-hearing probably didn't catch it. I squeezed him tight, a few tears leaking out as I did. He was back. He was really back, and alive. No dagger or gray skin or anything else that haunted my nightmares.
"How did you know I was here?" he finally asked, pulling back with awe on his face. I smiled and nodded towards his brother.
"Elijah found my number and called me. Can we talk?"
Finn glanced back at Elijah with slightly narrowed eyes, then looked back at me.
"...Yes. Lead the way."
I didn't know the town any better than he did, but I also didn't want to hang around the Grill in earshot of Elijah for this reunion, so I pulled Finn towards the door. We wandered towards the park, and after a quick scan of the area to make sure we weren't being eavesdropped on, I led him to a bench where we could sit together.
"I'm... so happy to see you, Finn," I said, taking his hands in mine and fighting to hold back another round of tears. "I hope you know... I tried to get you out sooner. I really did. I just... I wasn't strong enough. I am so, so sorry."
He shook his head, squeezing my hands a little in reassurance.
"It's alright. I'm glad I'm getting to see you again."
"Before you let Esther kill you?" Finn's eyebrows shot up, and I pursed my lips. "Elijah told me what you're planning to do, Finn. It's why he called me in the first place. I would've come running no matter what, but none of your siblings would've reached out to me without some other motive. We both know that."
Finn sighed through his nose and shook his head.
"And that is exactly why our time on Earth needs to come to an end. Monstrous behavior like that has become normal for them. For us. It has to stop."
"Does that include me?" Finn's gaze had wandered to other parts of the park, but it snapped back to me at my words. "Your umbrella of monstrous vampire behavior that has to stop. Am I under it just by virtue of being one?"
He sighed, staring down at our joined hands for a long, long time before looking up at me, pain in his eyes.
"I wish I could say no. My heart wants to say no. But... you've lived a long life in the years I've been gone. I don't really know you. Not who you are now."
I looked away, the gears turning in my brain as I nodded thoughtfully. He had a point; I had changed a lot in my 900 years wandering this Earth without him. But I still loved him, and I hadn't changed so drastically that he wouldn't recognize the new me.
"I have an idea," I said, turning back to him with a smile. "Let's go away together. Come back home with me for... a week. Let's get to know each other all over again, and I can show you why I've decided it's worth it to stick around all these hundreds of years. Alright?"
Finn frowned. "I don't know... my mother-"
"Has had her time to make her case. And if you really want to, you can come back here to her whenever you want. But you're my husband, Finn. Nine hundred years, and I've only ever loved you. So now it's my turn."
The barest hint of a smile quirked up the corner of his mouth.
"It seems like you haven't changed much, in a few ways at least."
I grinned. "I didn't need much longer than we had together to get good at telling off pushy family members of yours. The only one who's ever bested me was Klaus, and I don't intend to ever let that happen again. If your mother's trying to walk you off the ledge... she's gonna have to go through me."
Finn sighed, pulling me to my feet with him as he stood. I worried for a second, until his small smile reappeared and he met my eyes.
"Let's go home, then. For a week. Wherever 'home' is for you."
****************
I wasted absolutely no time loading Finn into my car and getting the hell out of town. It was going to be a lot of driving for one day, but it would be worth it. I had no intention of letting any of his family members get in my way. I'd never even had to unpack my bag.
As we left Mystic Falls behind us and pulled onto the highway, I put on my favorite playlist and shot Finn a grin.
"How much have your siblings caught you up on everything you missed over the last nine hundred years?" I asked. Finn frowned and shook his head.
"Very little. Do we really need to be going this fast?"
"Yes," I said, pointedly hitting the accelerator as I got up to speed with the rest of traffic. "Don't worry, I'm a fantastic driver. I promise it's normal and safe."
"Hm." Finn nodded, still looking a little unconvinced, so I reached over to take his hand.
"First lesson on the wonders of life, Finn: Road trips are the best. We've got about four hours to cruise, talk, listen to music, and stop for the most deliciously, bad-for-you food imaginable."
Finn huffed a small laugh. "I suppose that could be fun."
I grinned, cranking up the volume on the song playing, one of my favorites.
"I'll take it!"
****************
Slowly, over the course of the rest of the drive, Finn loosened up a little. He'd always been the most formal and reserved of his siblings, but when we were together, he'd always relaxed around me. This time, it took a little longer to get there, but around the second hour he started laughing at my stupid jokes and asking questions about things he saw that he found interesting. By the time I pulled up in front of my house a few hours later, he had a smile on his face and the tension had mostly eased out of his shoulders.
"How long have you lived here?" he asked, eyes surveying the house as I grabbed my unused bag out of the backseat.
"Oh, probably close to a decade. I've had the house for a lot longer than that, but I move in and out pretty regularly, since it would be obvious to my neighbors after a while that I'm not aging."
Finn nodded thoughtfully. "And does that ever bother you? The constant moving, the lying. The leaving."
"Sometimes," I said with a shrug. "But I like traveling and exploring the world. This way, I get to do that while also having a home to come back to after everything. It's more often than not been the best of both worlds for me."
"Hm. And do I need to be invited in?"
I grinned. "Nope! The house is mine. Unlike your siblings and quite a few other vampires, I haven't spent my eternity making enemies, so at least so far I haven't needed to keep other vampires out."
Finn chuckled, and the sound made a warm feeling grow in my chest. He looked happy, and seeing him glowing as he walked towards the front door of the place I called home was exactly the thing I'd been dreaming of for 900 years.
As if on-cue to interrupt my moment, my phone rang. I glanced at it to find Elijah's number staring back at me and huffed a sigh.
"Finn, would you mind taking my bag inside? I need to take this."
"Of course, my love." He gave me a soft smile as he took my bag, then headed for the front door. I watched him for an extra second, the fading light of twilight painting the world in a soft glow, then answered my phone with a sigh.
"What do you want, Elijah?" I said, not bothering with a hello. I turned my back to Finn and walked a few steps away, hoping he'd be too focused on the house to listen in on my conversation with his brother. I didn't want anything messing up our week away, especially not family drama.
"Where is Finn?" Elijah asked, his tone a bit demanding. I narrowed my eyes.
"Why do you need to know?"
"Because, as I remember mentioning to you, he's in the middle of trying to plot with our mother to kill all of us. I'd like to be aware of his location and progress for my own sake, and the sake of my family."
"Finn is family, and family you left rotting in a box for nine hundred years," I spat. I took a deep breath, getting my anger slightly more under control, then continued. "Finn is with me. I'm going to spend some time with my husband, thank you very much, and hopefully throughout the course of that I'm going to convince him it's worth telling your mother to go to hell to stay here with me. Our goals are aligned in keeping Finn from letting your mother destroy your entire family, Elijah, and that knowledge is just going to have to be good enough for you. We're supposed to be family, too, so you at least owe me that."
I hung up before Elijah could get another word in. I shoved my phone back into my pocket, then took a couple deep breaths before finally turning back around to head into the house. I was going to enjoy my week with Finn, and I was not going to let anyone get in our way.
I wandered inside to find Finn just sort of standing in the middle of the room, looking around. I showed him around and helped him get settled, and the two of us spent the night the same way we'd spent the drive, talking and telling stories and catching up after being apart.
We made dinner together, and I introduced Finn to the wonders of boxed mac 'n cheese before convincing him to sit down and watch my favorite Disney movie with me. It was late, so we went to bed right after the first one, but Finn seemed to enjoy it enough that he'd probably want to watch more after we got some rest.
For the first time in a long time, I drifted off with the comfort of Finn next to me, alive and well. I was determined to do whatever it took to avoid losing him ever, ever again.
****************
The next week felt like heaven on Earth. Finn and I quickly fell into a new, easy, happy routine together, exploring the place I'd called home for so long during the day (while also getting him more caught up on the modern world) and watching ridiculous movies on the couch together long into the night. I didn't want it to end, but I knew that if we disappeared for too long, Esther or one of her other kids would come looking for us. Finn and I needed to settle the issue once and for all, sooner rather than later.
But first, I had one last trick up my sleeve.
"So... we're supposed to go back to Mystic Falls in the morning," I said, leaning my elbows on the counter as I met Finn's eyes across the island. "But there's one more thing that I do as a regular part of my vampire life that I'm going to keep doing, no matter what. Fortunately for both of us, I think you might like it too."
Finn raised an eyebrow, and I gave him a soft smile before pushing off the island.
"Come on. Follow me."
He did, without hesitation. I tried to hide just how much that made me smile.
Finn and I walked from the house deeper into the downtown area, where people still walked back and forth despite the late hour. Finn carefully took in all our surroundings as I led him along, falling back into my normal routine.
As an immortal with superstrength, superspeed, and mind control, I was safe walking around at night basically no matter what. But also as a woman, I remembered plenty of times where I hadn't been safe. Or where I would've been in serious trouble if I hadn't had superpowers on my side. So, on a regular basis, and even more often when I started feeling down about being a vampire, I walked around at night acting as an avenging shadow, making sure any woman I came across got home safe. Crime rates tended to drop, at least for a little while, in whatever city I lived in and various muggers realized they had a real-life, superpowered Batman going after anybody trying to hurt people in the shadows.
I ducked into a dark alleyway, and Finn followed me, still looking curious. I smiled at him, then explained what I'd been doing for the past 900 years. As I spoke, a smile appeared on his face and steadily grew to a beaming pride I hadn't seen since our first few years together.
"That is... an excellent idea," he said, still looking at me like I'd hung the moon. I smiled back.
"Thank you. I've been back here long enough that I don't think we'll find too many things to put a stop to tonight, but... what do you say we look anyway?"
Finn nodded. "I'll follow you."
I took Finn's hand and pulled him along with me down the rest of the alleyway, ducking into the nearest bar on the other side. After grabbing a few drinks and compelling a few leering men to change their behavior, we popped back out onto the street to clear the next place.
Finn and I worked like a charm together, like we'd been working as a team for the last 900 years instead of just me by myself. Although the city was fairly safe, we still found plenty of ways to make an impact, and had a blast together going from place to place too. When we finally went back home around two in the morning, we were both laughing, and I swear Finn seemed lighter than he had all week.
"Well, that was my pitch," I said, flopping backwards into bed. Another perk of vampire speed was how quickly I could get ready for bed, especially when I was this tired. "I hope you liked it."
"I did. I liked it very much."
"I'm glad." Finn laid down next to me a beat later, and I rolled over to fix him with a smile. "So, how about it, Finn. I say we ditch your mom and the rest of your siblings, like I've been doing for centuries. Live our eternity together, doing good and just being happy. What do you say? Are you with me?"
Finn sighed, his gaze roving over every inch of my face. With every second the silence stretched my stomach churned, worried I'd failed, or that I should've waited until morning to ask, or a thousand different things I should've done differently. Finally, Finn's jaw clenched and he sighed through his nose before bringing his eyes to meet mine.
"I am with you. Always and forever."
I surged forward, rapidly closing the distance between us to wrap Finn in the tightest hug imaginable. After a second he wrapped his arms around me, too, holding me against his chest. I could hear his heartbeat, steadily reminding me he was here with me, and I absolutely never wanted to let go.
"I'll call my mother in the morning," he muttered into my hair, rubbing soothing circles on my back. "Tell her I'm not going to help her. There's too much worth living for, and plenty of ways to exist without being monsters."
"And I'll call Elijah. Tell him you're officially stepping back, and to keep the drama the hell out of our life together once and for all."
Finn chuckled, the sound vibrations rumbling through his chest. With Finn officially here to stay, with me, the way we should've been a long time ago, I felt more at peace than I had in a long, long time. And I was going to make sure nothing ruined that peace, ever again.

TW: angst. Imagine a scenario where yandere Elijah falls in love with the reader whom is sweet and caring toward him, but gradually he noticed something is off with her, and caught her trying to steal the White oak dagger. Then she confessed her initial intention to get close to him is for the dagger: his brother Klaus killed her parents when she was young and she swore revenge ever since and white oak dagger is the only thing that can killed him, so she tricked Elijah to get what she wanted, during the time to gain Elijah’s trust she genuinely began to fall for him and she begged him to stay out of her revenge to kill Klaus. How would yandere Elijah react and do in this situation? Can be either headcanon or oneshot, whatever you feel more comfortable writing. Thanks a lot.
A/N: This is a really cool idea and I kind of took some elements from it, that fit the style of my writing better. Thanks so much about the request!!

+600ish words (this somehow became a massive one).
TW/CW: Reader plans Klaus's murder, faking a relationship at first, Elijah kidnapping Reader at the end, angst, Klaus murdering Reader's family off screen. Tell me if there is anything that I missed!
Tumblr media
Your plan was simple, kill the man who destroyed your family. The man who ruined your life.
But you needed to get close to him and what is the best way to do that. Get close to their family.
Elijah and you started to date pretty quickly after you first met and maybe in another world you would start to date him just because of him being who he is.
But you had your plans, and nothing could go past it. Even if you have grown fonder of him by the day.
It took months upon months until you got even close to your revenge.
You got the stake that could kill him, the man who ruined everything. It wasn’t easy, the family protected the stake like it was Pandora's box.
You hated that you had to use Elijah. You truly cared for him and hated the fact that this would destroy everything that you two had built.
But you weren’t ready to let go just now. You needed to have the right moment to execute your plan and stay alive afterwards.

You laid on your bed in your apartment mindlessly scrolling through your phone when you heard Elijah enter the room. He had started to spend nights in your home which made you a bit anxious, after all your home was full of evidence which could reveal your plan to him.
Elijah cleared his throat, making you look at him. Elijah was beautiful and kind but at this moment his eyes were dark.
Your smile fell from your lips, and you sat up. “Is something wrong?”.
What you didn’t expect was Elijah pulling the white oak stake behind his back, eyes fully focused on you.
“I will give you a chance to explain yourself.”
You tried, you really tried not to cry. It had been so easy to think that you wouldn’t hurt Elijah by killing his own brother. You had convinced yourself that you could somehow move past your plan.
You begged Elijah to understand your point of view. That his brother had killed your whole family. Killing him would save hundreds of other people. It would be for the greater good.
Elijah stayed quiet and calm the whole time, but you could see the pain in his eyes, the betrayal.
At some point you fell asleep probably from exhaustion of crying and begging Elijah, the man that you had grown to love to not intervene with your plan.
You woke up tired and just as upset as you had been the night before. But you weren’t in your room anymore, in fact you weren’t even in your apartment.
“You are finally awake.” Elijah’s voice was just as gentle as you had gotten used to.
You looked around the room that seemed to be a cold room with stone walls and a matter that you had been sleeping on.
“Don’t worry about staying here for too long. This is a temporary plan, just to make sure that you don’t get any more of these idiotic ideas anymore.”
“What do you mean?” You whispered, holding back the tears.
“I know that I love you and that you love me too. So, I refuse to let you go just because of these ideas, plans of hurting my family..., hurting our family...”
Elijah sat next to you, pressing his warm palm on your cheek, sweeping the fallen tears off.
“We will get through this, all relationships go through hard times, but it’s good that we are making sure to get over this the best way possible.”
You couldn’t do anything but stare. It didn’t make any sense. You were planning to kill his brother. And now he was talking about it like this was a normal relationship fight.
“We will be able to grow from this together. And I want you to remember that no matter what, I will always love you and never let you go.”

****************************************************
back where Elijah was, he was worried about you and Freya and was taking his anger out on Esther, he loved you and couldn't bare the thought of you dying in the hands of Dahlia. He knew you wouldn't be able to stand against her and he was worried sick.
****************************************************
Once Dahlia had finished the spell, she came to you and used her magic to inflict pain on you and you screamed in pained, trying to save yourself but to no avail.
"Stop! you're hurting her! she did nothing to you! she is innocent and you know it!" Freya shouted, trying to stop Dahlia from hurting you further.
"I told you I would make you and your brothers watch her suffer and I will hold my end, this is just the beginning, it would only get worse from here." Dahlia said.
"Isn't there a saying about stones and glass houses?" Dahlia stopped and you looked up and saw Klaus standing outside the boundary spell.
"Incase the analogy is lost to you, I believe my brother is calling you a hypocritical b*tch." Rebekah said as she stood beside Klaus. Klaus turned to you and smiled.
"hello love, missed me?" you smiled weakly at him.
"Hmm, bringing vampires to a witch fight. someone hasn't learnt their lesson."
"well, I can be a bit thick sometimes" Klaus smirked. you heard chains rattling and saw Esther being dragged in by Elijah. You were so relieved to see Elijah and smiled.
"in this occasion, i'd say i took your lesson to heart." Klaus smirked even more as Dahlia's smile drop at the sight of Esther.
"are you hurt darling?" Elijah asked.
"don't worry I'm fine" you told him with a weak smile. Elijah looked with anger towards Dahlia and threw Esther's chain's onto the ground.
"My sister, in chains," Dahlia looked her up and down and started laughing with tears in her eyes, this woman is truly a pyscho.
"is.... is she a gift to buy your freedom? because I brought something." She lifted the stake and showed it to them.
"one stake, 3 of us. Even if you don't hesitate, the other 2 will rip you in half." Klaus told her.
"Sound thinking, but small thinking." she lifted the stake up to the sky and thunder zapped the stake and dust of wood from the stake flew around the warehouse. she used her magic to make the dust fly into Elijah, Rebekah and Klaus's mouth and they all started coughing out blood.
"you're killing them." Freya said in worry.
"now, look at me." everyone turned their attention to Dahlia as she turned to you and used magic to inflict pain on you, much more pain then before. You screamed in pain as tears fell from your eyes. Elijah yelled your name and vamped towards Dahlia but was blocked by the barrier between them and he fell to the ground. He looked at you with worry and was angry he couldn't do anything to save you.
"now sister, let us watch together, as I burn your children from the inside out." Esther looked around as she saw her children slowing dying.
"you still carry so much anger for me, after all these years." Esther said as she walked towards Dahlia.
"you broke your vow, we were to stand together, always and forever, and you left to marry that british biking imbecile, you ended my family and they were the result." She used her magic to inflict more pain onto Elijah Klaus and rebekah.
"no please stop!" you begged Dahlia to stop.
"you call this my wrong doing? you made me bargin away my first born child, my daughter" Esther told Dahlia
"Not just this firstborn, but every firstborn and even then you found a way to deny me that which you had sworn would be mine! how do you think that felt?" Dahlia said in anger. Klaus tried to use the dagger on Dahlia but she used her magic to pin him to the ground. Dahlia looked up and saw the moon shining in the warehouse and turned to Esther.
"now Esther, say goodbye to the last of your children" with that, Dahlia used her magic to strangle Freya and she was gagging. Esther looked around and saw that her children were dying and she knew she had to do something.
"wait! sister, you have everything you ever wanted, including the firstborn of a new generation, and you even have the firstborn of the most powerful witch coven, you have bested us all, at least let me try to make amends, let me share with you the glorious freedom that i have found in death." Esther took her chains and wrapped it around Dahlia and that made Dahlia let go of Freya and Freya used her magic to open the boundary spell and you used your magic to make Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah cough out the white oak stake dust that were in them.
"Elijah" Esther said and gave him the greenlight and Elijah took the dagger on the floor and threw it to Klaus. Klaus looked at you with sorrow in his eyes as he knew what was going to happen. you looked at him and nodded and mouth "it's ok, we'll see each other again" but he knew that might not happen as he charged forward with the dagger and stabbed Esther and Dahlia. you gasped one last time before falling to the ground.
The Mikaelson's watched as Esther and Dahlia slowly turned to dust and wind blew their ashes. Elijah looked at your unconscious body and vamped towards you and knelt down.
"darling, wake up, we won, Dahlia's dead" Elijah shook your body but you didn't wake up. He panicked and shook your body harder as he lifter you up and laid you on his lap. he placed 2 fingers on your neck to find a pulse but he couldn't find one.
"there's no pulse, why is there no pulse?" he asked with tears in his eyes. he looked up and saw Klaus had a sorrowful look on his face.
"Dahlia linked her life to Ava's, so when Dahlia died, so did Ava, I'm sorry brother." Freya explained as tears welled up in both her and Rebekah's eyes.
"no, it can't be, there is not possible." Elijah was in denial and shaking his head.
"she should have woken up by now." Klaus said out loud.
"what do you mean she should have woken up?" Elijah asked. Klaus sighed and started explaining what had happened when you teleported to him.
****************************************************
you used your magic to teleport yourself spiritually to Klaus.
"Ava? how? how are you here?" Klaus asked.
"I'm not really here. i'm really where Dahlia is but also here, so i'm kind of like in 2 places at once." you explained. you went over to him and gave him a hug and he hugged back.
"i'm glad you're okay." you said as you pulled away and after awhile you frowned and started hitting Klaus.
"I can't believe you went behind our backs and came up with your own plan!" you exclaimed as you hit him and Klaus used his arms to protect himself from getting hit.
"I had no choice! the plan was going to fail." Klaus explained and you huffed.
"you should have told me, i would have helped. you don't have to do everything by yourself, you are not alone." you told him and he smiled.
"i know, i promise i'll let you in next time" Klaus promised and you smiled.
"I'm surprised we can hug, i didnt think that was possible." Klaus said after awhile.
"with determination, anything is possible, plus I'm part of the most powerful coven so that's also another reason why." you explained.
"and yet you were captured by Dahlia." Klaus joked and you hit him and rolled your eyes before looking at Klaus seriously.
"Klaus I have to tell you something." you said and he looked at you.
"Dahlia linked my life to hers." you told him
"does that mean we would kill you if we killed Dahlia?" Klaus asked worriedly and you nodded.
"no, we will find a way to get her to severe the link." Klaus said with determination.
"I'm afraid there will not be time for that." you shook your head and looked down.
"you will have to kill me." you told him and he shook his head.
"no there has to be another way." he said.
"there might be another way, but I don't know if it's going to work."
"a chance is still better than no chance." Klaus told you.
"I drink from your blood and i turn into a vampire" you told him and his eyes widened.
"is that even possible? your real body is not here." Klaus asked.
"well like i said i'm in 2 places, so i'm guessing whatever happens here, happens there too. but like i said, it's a risk, i never did it before so i don't know if it will work." you told him.
"if there's a slight chance you're walking out alive, we have to take it, i'm not letting my brother lose you." Klaus told you.
"Just admit you don't want me to die too" you smirked and patted his cheek and he rolled his eyes and bit into his wrist and offered it to you and you drank from his wrist. once you were done, you pulled away and wiped the blood dripping down your mouth.
"please don't tell Elijah about this, if he knew, he wouldn't be so quick to kill Dahlia and your plan won't work" you told Klaus and he nodded. He pulled you close and hugged you.
"If you die, i will personally come to heaven and drag your ass back down to earth" Klaus threatened and you smiled and hugged back, happy that Klaus cared for you.
you guys pulled away and with one swift move you transported yourself back to where Dahlia was.
****************************************************
"you knew?" Elijah asked with angry tears and Klaus looked down.
"you knew that she was linked to Dahlia and it was a risk to drink your blood but you still went on with it?! how could you?!" Elijah shouted and vamped to Klaus but before he could punch him Rebekah stepped in between them.
"Elijah please." Rebekah said and Elijah put down his hand.
"I'm really sorry brother, but she told me not to tell you. if you knew you would have stopped us from killing Dahlia and our plan would fail and everything we have worked for would go down the drain." Klaus explained.
"but now I lost the love of my life because of this!" Elijah exclaimed. Before Klaus could speak, you gasped for air and Elijah rushed to your side to help you sit up.
"oh my god what happened? what's that sound? why is everything so loud? why is the sun so bright?!" you were having a panic attack and you can feel your heart pounding. everyone was trying to calm you down but you just felt worse with all of them chatting.
"shut up shut up shut up!" you made a blast radius which made the Mikaelsons flew backwards. at least you know you still had your magic. you took a deep breath and finally calmed down and you looked around and saw everyone standing up.
"I'm really sorry guys." you apologised sheepishly.
"that's alright love, coming back from the dead can be stressful. i'm glad you still have your magic" Klaus told you and you smiled at him. Elijah vamped to your side and hugged you tightly and you hugged him back.
"I missed you too." You said with a smile as you pulled back.
"I thought I lost you. I was so scared when i couldn't find your pulse." Elijah said with a sad expression.
"you didn't lose me, i'm tough. i don't fear death, death fears me" you smirked and Elijah chuckled.
"I have something to tell you guys, but first, i need blood, or i'm going to die for real this time." you said and everyone nodded. all of you went back to the compound and Klaus handed you a bloodbag and you drank from it, satisfying your hunger.
"what did you want to tell us?" Freya asked.
"i know how we can bring Kol back" you told them and their eyes widened.
"how?" rebekah questioned.
"I can bring him back" you revealed.
"what?" Elijah was shocked.
"when i died, i was brought to my ancestors, they told me they knew I wanted to save Kol, and they told me I have the power to bring him back, with their help, i need to channel their power, we can bring Kol back" you said with a smile and everyone smiled.
"i think Davina would love to be here" you said out loud.
"I'm sorry to burst your bubble but i think Davina is still mad about what we did." Klaus told you.
"she's the least mad at me, i'll go talk to her." you announced.
"are you sure you're up for this darling? maybe you should rest first." Elijah's voice sounded concerned and you smiled and kissed him.
"don't worry babe i'm fine," you told him and Elijah kissed your forehead. you got up and left the room to find Davina and found her in the bar drinking her feelings and went up and sat beside her.
"hey Davina." you smiled at her but she just glared at you.
"leave me alone." Davina said angrily.
"i know you're mad but hear me out, i know how to bring Kol back." you told her with a smile
"why should i believe you? you're associated with the Mikaelsons and they are liars." Davina said accusingly.
"Just come with me and if I don't bring Kol back, i'll leave you alone and not ask for anything ever again." Davina looked you with a raised eyebrow and agreed and you smiled and brought her back to the compound, where the rest of Mikaelsons were waiting for your return. Davina saw them and glared at them with anger as she follow you where you stood in the middle of the compound and did the Mikaelson pose (what davina did) and started chanting something.
A ring of fire appeared around you and it burned brighter and brighter the more you chant. you channeled your ancestors magic and chanted the incantation your ancestors gave you. you started to feel faint and your nose started bleeding and Elijah got worried.
"darling, you have to stop, you're hurting yourself."
"no, i'm fine, i have to finish this incantation" you continued to chant as blood continued to flow down your nose.
"what's happening?" you heard Kol's voice and was happy the incantation was working, but not enough. you could see Kol was fading in an out. Elijah was trying to get you to stop but you kept going. Davina was looking at Kol with a smile, knowing that he was coming back. The fire around you grew and once you finished, you stopped chanting and the fire around you fade out. you saw all your friends looked at you proudly and you saw Kol and Davina looked each other lovingly and hugged each other and it made you smile lovingly at them.Elijah came up to you and smiled.
"you did great." he said and kissed you on your forehead.
"thank you." you said weakly and Elijah could see that something is wrong with you.
"are you okay?" he asked worriedly.
"I- I don't-" you spoke weakly before fainting into Elijah's arms. Everyone looked at you worriedly as Elijah vamped you up to your room and laid you gently on your bed and sat next to you, waiting for you to wake up.
****************************************************
you slowly opened your eyes and looked around and found yourself in your room and saw that Elijah was next to you with his head on the bed and you smiled. you slowly sat up and Elijah felt you sitting up and he got up too.
"you should have slept next to me." you told him.
"that's alright darling. how are you?" he asked.
"i'm alright, thank you. how long was I asleep?" you asked.
"3 days" your eyes widened.
"3 days?!?"
"you did a powerful spell. you needed your rest." Elijah told you with a soft smile. you couldn't believe you slept for so long.
Suddenly your stomach rumbled and Elijah chuckled and your faced flushed.
"hungry?" Elijah asked and you nodded.
"come on, the others are making dinner." you got of bed and into the dining room where you see the other Mikaelson's preparing the dinner table. Even Hayley, Marcel and Davina were here and you smiled, I guess Klaus had forgiven Hayley and Davina had probably came because Kol convinced her.
when they saw you, they looked up and smiled at you.
"welcome back love" Klaus smiled at you.
"thank you, Ava, for bringing me back." Kol thanked you gratefully.
"thank you." Davina thanked you with a smile.
"it's good to have you back." Hayley told you.
"It's good to have you back as well." You smiled at her.
"well I figured it would be what you have wanted so I got Freya to do a reversal spell. It's the least I could do after all you have done for us." Klaus told you.
"it's not because you forgave her?" You asked.
"well I might forgive her if she doesn't run away with my daughter again." Klaus spoke and Hayley rolled her eyes playfully.
"come on people, let's eat. I'm starving." Rebekah spoke up and everyone sat at the table and started eating, even Hope was in a baby chair next to Hayley, happily eating her food. It was the first time in forever when all the Mikaelsons were in one place, eating together with no one chasing them. You felt sad Finn wasn't here but at least the rest of the Mikaelsons were here with you. you smiled and looked around at your friends, laughing and eating and talking to one another and felt a warm feeling in your chest. you had the best friends in the world and had the best boyfriend in the world and you wouldn't have had it any other way. If you were to live this through a second time, you wouldn't change a thing because you knew the journey here was worth it.

Hi can you do headcanons about yandere elijah mikaelson x fem human reader
AAAAAAAA!!! I'm so excited for this ask!! It's my very first HC request & I'm a little 😬 but I hope my particular brand of Yandere!Elijah is entertaining. Tbh, this'll help me brainstorm ideas for future Dawn Misplaced chapters...
[Yandere!Elijah Headcanons]
Tumblr media
⚜️ It was obsession at first defiance for him. Elijah Mikaelson, in his many years of being unchecked, has become accustomed to the word "yes" coming from human lips. Yes, sir. Yes, Mr. Mikaelson. Or "Yes, Daddy" to those girls he finds pleasing. But you said "no". You said "no" after all the trouble and headaches he endured in brokering a "fair deal" for your current predicament; being the sole inheritor of Father Kieran's seat in The Faction. Elijah was trying to spare you this precarious spot. It infuriates him that you won't give into his reasoning. He's just trying to protect you...
⚜️ Elijah Mikaelson is observant. He's kept a rather exhaustive record of his thoughts and feelings all throughout his cursed ordeal of being an "Original". But moreover, being the eldest brother to a family of siblings who do not listen. One night, while he's penning an entry in his records, his mind begins to drift. His hand moves with a will of it's own. Only after Elijah has gone through several pages does he realize that he's been writing about you. He's repulsed. How could you, the one snag in his carefully woven system, have snuck so imperceptibly into his mind?! He writes four more pages about you. Seemingly against his own will. Then, pours himself a scotch to quell a hunger that's starting to grow within him.
⚜️ Since you've decided to defy him and act as the human representative in The Faction, Elijah Mikaelson has decided to give you hell in the form of micromanaging your time. He requires emails, updates, documentation, & various forms of excruciating busy work that keeps you in very close proximity to him. His dark eyes always seem to be upon you while you're tending to the mountain of paperwork that he assigns you daily. And Elijah seethes with frustration as you rise to his challenge; completing his sisyphean tasks YOUR way. But still within his set requirements. Elijah is becoming more and more consumed by you with your every willful act. Meanwhile, the pages in his journal grows...
⚜️ Every seated member of The Faction has been thoroughly vetted by Elijah. But you...? He's been digging deep into your past before you inherited Kieran's position. What he's found (using various means of persuasion) has him intrigued, to say the least. You're the adopted offspring of an old, antiquated family that he (and his siblings) cavorted with during the 1700's and held considerable sway over the settlement before their arrival. Elijah knew that. But what has him curious is how little there is to say about you... There's almost no paper trail. Nothing substantial he can find about who you are. Your record, the little bits he can find, is almost too clean. It's a siren song to Elijah who prides himself on being informed. You've become an unsolved mystery that he's determined to crack. Even if he has to utilize extraordinary means to do so. After all, it's for the safety of his family... That's what he's telling himself, at least.
⚜️ To satiate his mounting need for answers and his hunger for you, he's decided to sit & watch your dreams. It's for work, of course!! How can he allow someone with such a void in their history to continue holding power in The Faction?? Much less someone who has evaded his inquiries and defied him in ways that irk him. It doesn't matter that you were handpicked by Kieran. To Elijah, you're a box left unchecked. And unchecked boxes have always been trouble in his experience.
⚜️ Elijah is, at first, annoyed to find that you're just as much a night creature as he is. An insomniac who stays up way too late reading, writing, documenting & researching as voraciously as he does. That makes his dream invasion plans hard at first. But Elijah is a patient man. And so, he waits. Poised in the shadows. Perched at your windowsill. Even standing in your room after he devised his invitation into your living space. And soon enough, the cracks in your defenses begin to show themselves. He takes full advantage of one night where exhaustion (he ran you into the ground on purpose with busy work) and a night with Cami at Rousseau's expose your mind to his vampiric dreamwalking. What he finds inside your mind seals his iron resolve to have you as HIS. Always and forever. Now, you cannot escape from Elijah even if you tried. And resigning from The Faction is no longer an option he'll extend to you...
You turned down his offer for peace, after all.
---
I shall leave it off at here for now. I hope this gives you plenty of juicy bits to dream with when you think of Yandere!Elijah! And I also hope I'll be asked again for more headcanon stuff or even questions about my WIP. ❤️
Much love to you, anon.

Can I Have This Dance? | E.M.
Tumblr media
Title: Can I Have This Dance?
Requested: Yes/No
Summary: You have feelings for Elijah. He has feelings for you. Rebekah has a plan.
A/N: This is my first ever fic for Elijah. I hope you guys like it! 💖
No one in the whole of New Orleans does a party like the Mikaelsons does.
Every single one of their parties were practically better than the last, as if they had some sort of record to break.
You weren’t much of a party person. But Rebekah practically begged you to go and you couldn’t resist her.
Another reason was because a certain Mikaelson was sure to be there.
“Y/N!” Rebekah almost squealed your name as she caught sight of you walking through the giant gates of the Mikaelson compound.
“I’m so glad you could make it.” Her British accent ringing through her every word while she gave you a hug, “And you look amazing! I’m sure Elijah would be pleased.”
“Bexs.” You smiled, “Thank you but Elijah barely notices me in the first place.”
“Please.” The blonde rolled her eyes, “Elijah is absolutely smitten with you. You’re just too blind to see that he loves you just as much as you do.”
“As much as I adore you shipping us. Elijah sees me as a friend. If he’s smitten for anyone, it’s obviously Hayley.” You protested, trying to keep the jealousy out of your voice.
“Fine, don’t believe me, the all-knowing sister, just wait and see for yourself then.” Rebekah teased.
“Why sister, how long do you plan on keeping our favorite guest from us?” Klaus asked as he and Elijah appeared behind Rebekah.
The blonde turned to face them, “Don’t be ridiculous Nik, I was only greeting her.”
“Favorite guest? You flatter me Klaus.” You smiled as you hugged him.
“He’s just stealing all the credit.” Elijah grinned, stepping in for his turn, “I’m the one who coined the title actually.”
You laughed as Klaus rolled his eyes, “I should’ve known.”
“Are you four seriously just going to stand around here?” Freya asked, giving you a hug in greeting.
“Last I checked, this was a celebration, not a pity party.” Hayley appeared, sending you a smile.
“We’re coming.” You and Rebekah said at the same time, causing the rest of the group to laugh.
It was practically common knowledge that if Rebekah Mikaelson had a plan, she would stop at nothing to execute it.
With half of her plan already in motion, the blonde girl watched contentedly from the balcony of the compound, sipping on her champagne.
“I know that look.” Klaus mused, approaching her with his own drink in hand, “You’ve got something up your sleeve, don’t you?”
“Well, let’s just say that we could either start planning the wedding soon or help Elijah through his heartbreak.” Rebekah grinned.
Klaus chuckled, “Definitely our resident matchmaker. How many did you compel this time?”
“Only one guy.” She answered, her eyes not leaving her target, “And knowing our dear brother, that’ll be enough.”
“Besides, after everything Elijah has done for us, he deserves to be happy and find peace and comfort in someone.” Rebekah added.
You were standing by the bar, listening to Hayley recount her latest date when you felt a tap on your shoulder.
Hoping it would be Elijah, you turned around only to find yourself disappointed when it was some guy you didn’t recognize.
“May I have this dance?” He asked with a smile.
You looked over at Hayley, giving her an apologetic smile to which she just grinned and nudged you, “Go on.”
Accepting the man’s hand, you went off to the dance floor with him.
Elijah had just went to fix something with Kol but when he came back, he saw that you were gone from your spot beside Hayley.
Scanning the room quickly, he felt his blood boil at the sight of you in the arms of another man.
His knuckles go white as he grips the glass harder, silently willing himself to calm down.
“Just going to let someone take her away that easily?” Kol appeared by his side.
Elijah downed his drink in one gulp, “It’s not my business. Y/N has every right to dance with whoever she wants to.”
“Still. I can feel your jealousy. You should show her how much you’re willing to fight for her, show the guy who’s the boss.” Kol suggested.
Elijah didn’t know whether it was the alcohol in his system or the sheer jealousy that was running through his veins that he decided to take Kol’s advice.
You had started to regret agreeing to dance with the guy in the first place.
Why? He was either talking about himself or making a comment that made you extremely uncomfortable.
Now you knew what Cami meant when she said that you could be too polite for your own good.
You were about to open your mouth and excuse yourself when a familiar voice suddenly said,
“May I have this next dance?”
You smiled upon seeing Elijah while the guy glared at him.
“I’m sure she wants to stay with me.” The guy said.
Elijah raised a brow at him, glancing at you, “I’m pretty sure Y/N is capable of answering for herself.”
“I would love to.” You quickly spoke up before the guy could respond.
Immediately attaching yourself to Elijah’s arm, you left the guy without so much as another glance.
“Thank you for saving me out there.” You smiled as Elijah smoothly took your hand and twirled you around.
“Just say the word and he’ll be gone.” Elijah said, taking your hand in his and placing his free one on your waist.
“I don’t think that would be necessary.” You giggled, the two of you swaying along to the mellow music.
Silence engulfed the two of you as you danced along the other couples.
“Your beauty never fails to render me speechless.” Elijah suddenly mentions, looking you right in the eye, “As always.”
You felt butterflies not only in your stomach but your whole body, “You find me beautiful?”
The original looked surprised at the inquiry, “Of course I do. Who wouldn’t be enamored by your smile, that’s more beautiful than every sunset and sunrise I’ve ever witnessed. Or your laugh, that could easily be the best musical piece that ever existed. Your eyes, the ones that twinkle and shine so brightly that they could’ve been the mere inspiration for the stars.”
He tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear before continuing, “Also with the way you see the goodness in everything. How you’re always willing to sacrifice yourself and your happiness for the people you love. With all those qualities, I can’t help but have my heart captured by you. Whenever I look at you, I feel like all the misery brought about by immortality would be worth it, if I get to spend an eternity with you.”
You couldn’t believe this was actually happening, “Elijah-“
“But,” He interrupted, looking nervous as he heard your heart beating faster than a minute before, “the thing is I don’t deserve you. Being with me would bring about constant chaos and danger. Besides the fact that I’m a horrendous monster and you’re a wonderful angel.”
Before he could say anything else, you stood on your tiptoes and pressed your lips to his lips - silencing him effectively.
“Wow.” was the only thing he could say when you had pulled away.
“I have dreamed of this moment ever since the moment I met you.” You whispered against his lips, “I would love nothing more in this world than to be yours, if you let me.”
Elijah grinned, pulling you in for another kiss, “I’m yours.”
“Remind me.” Hayley mused from the balcony, “Never to underestimate Rebekah Mikaelson when it comes to love.”
Rebekah laughed, pleased with her work, “Frankly, anything and everything is possible in the name of true love.”

Elijah Mikaelson is my comfort character
Tumblr media
Elijah Mikaelson is my comfort character and it's not because he is perfect. He is a deeply flawed character who lived most of his life as a villain and a lot of his character development is done off-camera. But there is something so interesting about how he is viewed in the show and by a lot of the fandom.
I love his character because of how I relate to his trauma and how he handles that trauma (which I acknowledge is problematic). He spends the majority of his life trying to make amends for every wrong he has ever done yet he is unable to learn his lesson and repeatedly makes these mistakes. He is paralyzed by the fear of failing his brother once again that he will do anything for him, even at the cost of his other siblings.
We see from a young age that Elijah was 'parentified' by his parents and his siblings and carried that into adulthood. He doesn't have a normal sibling relationship with any of his siblings because of this. Everyone holds him to a higher standard and blames him for their problems as if he was the one that failed them. Yet at the end of the day, he was just like them, struggling to grow up under the trauma of their parents and the era they lived in. Because of this, his siblings were able to heal, but he wasn't.
After they turn, after Elijah has just experienced so much trauma that his mother erased his memories because she felt he couldn't handle it, he is looked to as the leader, even by his older brother. He is seen attempting to control his sibling's bloodlust, even as he struggles to manage his own. He has always had to put aside his own trauma/struggles in order to maintain his siblings. This is so evident throughout the show but especially after his mother tortures him and when he awakens, Klaus immediately goes to him and tells him he killed his father without even checking on Elijah first.
It is also important to acknowledge the biases of a lot of the stories we are told throughout the show. We see such a limited amount of their lives, and much of it is centered around Klaus and his 'suffering.' When people attack Elijah, it is either because he didn't do enough for Klaus or because he did too much for Klaus at the cost of his siblings. While I think he could have done more to protect his siblings, it was not his job. I think it is interesting that he is the only sibling held to that standard. We see him in numerous flashbacks attempting to protect them and we do not know about 99% of their life.
I will never tell anyone they have to love Elijah because there are legitimate reasons to hate him and I will not defend him for those. But I will defend him when he is held to a higher standard than the rest of his family simply because he was forced to raise his siblings.
I don't love him because of the terrible things he has done and I will not defend them (you can love a problematic character but that doesn't mean you can defend the terrible actions or blame the victims), but I love him because of how he has been forced to handle so much and given such little credit for everything. Yes, he has made many mistakes throughout his life, some of them unforgivable, but at the end of it, he always tried to put his family first.

Painful Silence | The Originals x Mute!Child!reader
CW: Canon-typical violence, implied/referenced abuse of a child
Summary: Takes place after the events of "Not A Peep". A bit of backstory of Mute!reader from an unexpected source.
Tumblr media
She had never been a vocal child.
Her Papa had voiced his concerns about that when Mama was still alive. Mama had merely smiled gently down at her three year old, quietly playing with a hummingbird figurine set.
"Nothing wrong with a little silence," Mama softly told her Papa, running a loving hand over her daughter's hair. "Her silence allows her to perceive the world so much more. She's an observant child. She listens, rather than just hears. And that is a precious gift for a bloodline like mine."
Her Papa still had his reservations, but he trusted his wife. Magic and witchcraft still confounded him but his lover's carefree attitude eased his worries for his daughter's lack of vocalization.
As the days went by, her Papa had felt more and more at ease, having heard several peels of laughter and grunts of frustration erupt from his daughter at times when he was at home. It was only a matter of time before she would begin to speak, he'd told himself.
Their household had been a happy one.
Until it wasn't.
It happened in the middle of the night. Papa had was at his usual night shift at work, with only her and Mama at home.
She had been woken from a rather lovely dream of talking pelicans and flying penguins.
Angry voices coming from the living room downstairs had her creeping slowly off her bed, making sure to grab her pastel green throw blanket with baby chicks printed in patterns, and tiptoed over to the second floor landing to find out what was going on.
When she peeked in between the banister, she could see her Mama with two other women in the living room.
"The laws of the coven no longer apply to me, sister. I renounced my position when I did." Mama said calmly.
One of the women, who had a very similar resemblance to her Mama, stepped forward, voice forceful, "The child is of our bloodline, tainted, though it may be, but ours nonetheless. She must be with her people."
Mama took a step forward, her face hardened, eyes alight with fury, "You will not touch a hair on her head. I left because I no longer believed in the covens ideals and practices. What makes you think I'd let you take my daughter to the very thing I cut ties from?"
The third woman, aged beyond the years of her Mama and the other woman, spoke, "The elders will not allow one of our kin to grow outside of the coven. She must come with us."
Her Mama looked at the older woman pleadingly, eyes stinging with unshed tears, "Mother, please, please, you can't take her from me. She is everything to me."
The old woman, the child's grandmother, held herself with poise and looked down her nose toward her pleading daughter, "I am sorry, child."
Her Mama's sorrowful face quickly morphed into rage and before the young girl could blink, her mother had let out a vicious cry, lifting her hand toward the woman that looked like her, Mama's sister.
The child felt the hairs on her body raise from the electricity in the air. The air seemed to vibrate and the girl stared in wonder as she saw lines of color and light dance around her mother.
An audible, sickening crack broke the girl out of her awestruck wonder and she gazed down at the still figure of her mother's sister, her auntie, on the floor. Her neck was at an odd angle, eyes open in shock, glazed over, seeing nothing.
"What have you done!" Came the shrill cry of her grandmother.
A rumble coursed through the foundation of the home in response.
Her Mama yelled back, "Leave! You are not welcome in this home!"
Her squeak of shock was her undoing. Both her mother and grandmother looked toward the banister and spotted the shaking form of the child.
Her mother's eyes went wide with fear, "My little Bluebird, please, go back to—MOTHER NO!"
The young girl felt the magic before she saw it. Flames erupted to the girl's left, barring escape from the stairs. The child squealed in terror as the fire nipped at her feet. It got close enough that her blanket, trailing limply at her feet, caught fire. The girl quickly let go of the cloth.
"Sweetheart, run!"
She obeyed her mother and stumbled shakily away from the growing flames. She didn't dare to look back, but she could hear the cries and yells coming from both her mother and grandmother in the living room, could feel the magic like static shocks to her skin.
She took refuge in her room, grabbed the penguin stuffy that she had and hid herself under her covers.
Blasts and yells could still be heard. Her room was getting hotter and hotter. A chocked sob erupted from her throat, and the only word that spilled from her lips was, "MAMA!"
The only thing she could hear was herself, her guttural screams for her mother, her pulsing heartbeat in her ears, her ragged coughs as she inhaled smoke.
The door to her room burst open after a few moments. The blankets were ripped from her, and she was brought into the familiar and warm embrace of her Mama.
"You're going to be alright, little Bluebird. Mama's here. She will always be here."
The child, exhausted from fear and panic, fainted in her mother's hold.
Her mother didn't have the sufficient power to calm the inferno raging in her home. Only enough to block it from spreading into the child's bedroom for now.
There was not much she could do. Her own mother and sister lay dead in the living room and she herself would not survive this night. The hex her mother placed on her before her death would complete its task within a few hours.
She looked down at her daughter's sleeping form. Tears welled in her eyes knowing this would be the last time she would see her. Her trembling lips gently kissed her forehead, "I love you, my little Bluebird. Mama loves you."
With the last reserve of power she held, she cast a protective spell over her little girl. Although her mother and sister were dead, the coven would not rest until they had her kid. The spell would deter any unwelcome eyes, keeping her girl safe for a few years at least.
As she lay at the foot of her daughter's bed, clutching the girl safely within her embrace, her last thoughts were of her baby and her husband. She hoped he would not resent her for this mess. He knew her coven was coming for their child. He never liked the whole witch aspect of her life and she could only pray that his hatred of it would not consume him after this.
Her gaze flitted down to her little Bluebird. Hearing her child cry out for her had filled her with so much joy and so much anguish. She had no idea how this night would affect her. She could only hope that her father would help her recover. As she closed her eyes for the last time, she could only hope.
Let my little one find happiness in this life.
***
The three Original's stared down at the child in the woman's lap.
The child's mother stroked her hair soothingly. The girl snuggled further into her mother's touch, a smile forming at the nostalgic ministrations.
Klaus turned his wary eyes to the woman.
Her presence in their home had been unexpected. He had found out that the Veil, which acted as a barrier between the physical world and the Other Side, had been brought down due to the goings-on in Mystic Falls. Because of this, supernatural entities that had previously died, could now interact with the physical realm.
The Mikaelson siblings had been skeptical of the woman's identity when she had appeared before them. All doubt about who she was had been dashed the moment their little Bird had caught sight of the mystery woman.
It had been a shock to the three ancient vampires when the girl, whom hadn't uttered a single sound since meeting, had let out a wail so primal, so heartachingly hurt. The three siblings could still hear the haunting cries in their ears.
The woman had scooped the little girl in her arms, rocking her soothingly and muttering sweet words into her ear, "I'm here my little Bluebird. Mama's here. You've been so strong, sweetheart."
Klaus was loathe to admit that he felt a pang of envy roll over him, seeing his Little Wing being soothed by another, but he had to reign in his ire, reminding himself that it was her mother and that ripping the two apart right now would not go over well. With his Little Wing, nor with his siblings.
"Thank you." The woman's voice broke through the Mikaelson's thoughts.
Each of their questioning looks at her gratitude caused her to smile as she explained, "For looking out for her." Her eyes strayed back to her daughter, "You have no idea how agonizing it was to see the aftermath of my death. To see her detach from what happened, see that she blamed herself for it, and even seeing my husband hurt her the way he did."
Her eyes shot back up to them, brimming with tears. "Thank you," she said again.
Rebekah huffed, irritated, "Your husband was a worthless, wretched wanker. Good riddance, I say. How could you even stand to stay with him?"
"I make no excuses for how he treated our daughter after my death, but he was never that way when I was alive. He worried for our little Bluebird. He knew about my being a witch and he knew that my coven would be coming for her." She gestured to the sleeping girl. "I truly loved him, but what he did...the neglect he subjected her to was..." She stared off into the distance her eyes glazed before she turned them to Klaus and Rebekah, silent fury burning bright in her gaze, "I do not condemn what you did to him. My only regret is that I could not partake in his judgment."
Her admittance eased Elijah's mind. He was pleased to know that their Baby Bird's mother had the proper motherly instinct to eliminate any threat or harm to their child, regardless of who the cause of it was.
Klaus grunted and crossed his arms, ire still simmering within his chest, "Your blessings regarding that brute's death aside, what else did you hope to accomplish with your limited time?"
Elijah rolled his eyes at his brother's rude attitude. He understood his irritation, he could see the jealousy festering in him, and he would be lying if he said that he didn't feel similar himself. The three of them had come to care for the child. At this point, she was a Mikaelson in all but blood.
Rebekah tsked at her brothers tone, "Honestly, Nik."
The witch, however, seemed to find the hybrids tone amusing as she chuckled softly, a knowing smile spreading on her lips, "Niklaus Mikaelson. I thank you for your concern for her, but there is nothing more that I want than to spend what little time I have left holding my daughter."
The hybrid narrowed his eyes at her, cold gaze studying her carefully, "I find that quite hard to believe. Any sane parent would fight tooth and nail to drag their child away from a monster like me."
The witch regarded him warmly, "Hm. It seems I have yet to witness this monster you speak of. The man I have seen with my daughter has been nothing but gentle and sweet; aquiescing to her needs when the situation called for it."
She turned her gaze to Elijah, "She has been under the protection of the one they call the Noble Brother. Who has treated her with equal care as you, Niklaus."
She finally turned to Rebekah, "Besides, this beautiful spitfire that is your sister has shown that she has the instincts of a mother bear when it comes to the protection of my child."
Her eyes went right back to Klaus, "Tell me. Why would I take her from a family that has prioritized her happiness and safety?"
The three Originals said nothing.
There was no sense in denying her observations, it was clear that she had been there for all their interactions with her child, invisible to the from her place on the Other Side.
The mother said nothing further, merely continuing the soft caresses on her little Bird's hair.
