JESTER MASS HEAL AS A CRITICAL MOVE IN THE BATTLE sorry off my rocker again about Jester love and optimism as its own brand of offense and love that sunders enemies in half and boosts her friends in all forms and all the jokes about Jester THE cleric and clerics and healers not always being one and the same, but- Jester did heal, and she healed plenty through the campaign. But sometimes being a protector of the group needed the direct offense. It was, it is, always about- action economy and balancing what will protect her friends, what will save them, what will be enough.
Jester blowing the high level spell on healing, and it working. Beautifully.
It was always about protecting everyone with what she had and all its furious love, and this time, healing her friends was more than enough to rip the enemy apart.

Twenty-four things I noted about the The Mighty Nein Reunited Part 2 “Uk'otoa Unleashed” :
can't believe I will see them again SOON (the only comfort because this is the end of the adventures... for now...)
Jester coming in strong with Eathquake. Last time we saw a use of that, it was when Pike and Keyleth managed to make Vecna's tower fall just before the first battle against him...
SALT BAE MATTHEW MERCER
Beau's "Debilitating barage" combined with Caleb's fire spells, oh my god. Combo moves with vulnerabilities provoked by a PC and another attacking just after are SO HOT. Caduceus did this a lot with Path of the Grave, and now Beau can do this too !
OOOoooooh they really were so close to have that crystal. I felt like watching sports game, where everyone was close to mark but alas !!
I want to read Veth's Camp Guide. I hope someday CR will do this merch, just for me.
Fjord, what the fuck are you doing, my guy ? I love it, with a 7 swisdom, of course he would propose an alliance to a Betrayer god that hates Uk'atoa and the Prime deity that protects him. Marisha, speaking the truth : "Come on ! Third god in that body !!"
It's hilarious that Kingsley proposes himself for the pact. Veth, concerned : "Shouldn't he have one lifetime where he's not connected to a dark power that is corrupting him slowly until he dies and is reborn again ?"
ANOTHER PACT FOR FJORD
Jester contacting the Plank King, and revealing that - of course ! - she uses Sending very frequently to contact and bother friends and foes. I love it so much. This moment reminded me of the post that said, basically : in a post-Apogee Solstice world where many spells don't work, the biggest tragedy must be Jester Lavorre without Sending.

I am taking notes ! at the mechanic of Uk'otoa's (Uk'otoa...) eyes being harder to hit, but being the way to avoid an unleashing of electrical energy stored in his body when they hit. Amazing.

I love Liam's clear intention to do many more of Mighty Nein one-shots. I WANT THAT TOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!
This one-sot was incredible. A good story that was left in suspense when Campaign 2 ended, a powerful ennemy even when they're level 17, and just an absolute blast to see them all again. I miss them already.

Creature misses it's attack on Beau, Marisha decides to use her crazy cool monk shit to react and she KICKS HIS ARSE!!! Nice!

Jester is STUCK now because she doesn't see what's going on ... okay she goes to Kingsley instead and holds her spell until his turn do they can jump in! Smart in a really clumsy way! XD
Caleb is PRONE. Oof ...
Mage is going to Dimension Door and Fjord sacrifices another Counterspell to beat him! So the mage just starts RUNNING instead ...
Travis: "This area of the map seems different ... it's made of PUDDING!!!"
Caleb is doing Wizard stuff but holding it for Beau to hit the mage ... no fancy name this time znd Sam takes issue with the lack of flare. Liam (in Caleb voice): "EFFICIENCY!!!"
Jester jumps in with Kingsley ONTO THE GIANT'S HEAD!!!
Kingsley attacks the mage and gets foiled! Nuts!
Marisha attacks the giant and gets 13 points of damage in! Spends 3 ki points to open up a vulnerability on him, then moves onto the mage and opens up another csn if whoopass on him too ... Flurry of Beaus? Ooooooooh ... 14 points of damage? Nice ... but the Stunning Strike misses. Nuts ...
Caleb incinerates the already dead creature but gets 17 fire damage on the giant. Okay ...
Sam: "This is more action I've had since ... I don't know, Insert Joke Here!"
40 points of damage from Veth's crossbow on the giant and she gets the HDYWTDT right between its eyes! Nice!
Bonus she shoots the mage in the buttocks too!
Fjord gets 30 points on the mage on his first hit! Oooh ... then he lands another ... fuck, I can't even ADD UP all that, it's just a ridiculous amount of damage ...
Yasha takes up Sentinel on the mage and JUST gets past its Shield ... Ashley does damage maths ... 49 on the first attack? Ouch ... then another 23 ... another HDYWTDT?!!! Noice! She just DECAPITATES that fucker ...
Just one fish guy left ... and a FUCKLOAD of snakes ...
Jester gets 19 points of damage on that last fish guy ...

Caleb misses his attack ... and all the other incapacitated fish guys jump in? What?
One of them's got the crystal! Shit! Something's lighting up in the temple ... it's a temple to Zehir, U'kotoa's creator and ultimate jailer!
The final seal is broken! Oh shit! Something's coming ... all the snakes are now converging on them!
Fjord creates a gate to help them escape ... and Matt uses the malevolent power in the place to veto it and shuts the spell down IMMEDIATELY?!!! Not cool!
Okay, how the hell do they get out now?
Fjord tries to communicate with the effigy of Zehir ... and the god talks back? Oh, and it REALLY don't like Fjord ...

Kingsley asks Yasha and Beau about Molly ... oh boy ... yeah, this is getting heavy again and this music is NOT HELPING ... now THAT is interesting, Kingsley considers Molly snd Lucien to be his parents and so he's determined to do BETTER than either of them did. Yeah, this sounds smart.
Everybody gets a ling night's rest ... and then they wake up to chaos, it seems. Oof, this is looking MESSY. U'kotoa is definitely fucking things up out there ...

Yasha gets 17 points if damage plus 4 offire damage! Nice! Getting better!

Beau takes a bite attack and is dealt 30 points of piercing damage? Oooooh ... but somehow she manages to NOT get swallowed too at least ...

Dragleb comes down and ALL THREE of them flare so apparently When he uses Frightful Presence U'kotoa becomes FRIGHTENED?!!! Wow ... oh, and there's MORE? Wait, this is NOT gonna work? I'm so confused now ... and so is Liam, it seems ... okay ... oh, Gravity Fissure? That'll do. 39 points of damage, but halved.
Travis and Sam discuss the possibility of taking U'kotoa out with Hideous Laughter ...
Oh, and now Czleb is getting CRUSHED ...
Oh, so they're actually gonna TRY this Hideous Laughter thing? Now they're workshopping the bad joke ... Holy fuck this is ACTUALLY gonna work? Seriously? 54 POINTS OF DAMAGE?!!! Bloody hell ...
Jester moves the Cylinder and it burn him more, but also hits Yasha. Fair trade, I guess ... Invoke Duplicity! Whoa ... FOUR Jesters? Holy fuck ... and Matt DOESN'T HAVE four extra Jester minis! XD He uses Otohans instead ... hmmm ...
U'kotoa tries to get in Fjord's head ... but the Wildmother keeps it out! Nice!
Instead U'kotoa gets ITSELF in a Tidal Wave in order to hit everybody else. Oof ... Fjord, Beau, Jester and Kingsley take 38 points of bludgeoning damage and they're knocked prone again! AAAAAAARGH!!! The others take half but at least they keep their feet ...
Fjord aims the Cone of Cold for the back if its head, but zlso has to try not to hit Beau with it too ... hmm ... 66 points of cold damage and THE HEAD IS ESSENTIALLY FROZEN IN PLACE in the water! Okay!
Ooooh ... and the eyes are BLAZING bright yellow now ... wait, LIGHTNING now? Seriously? Shit ...
Beau manages to DODGE it and Dragleb is immune, but everybody else takes half damage ... 18 points of lightning damage! Oof!
Kingsley gets proper bitchslapped by the Legendary Action, but then when he gets up he deals 8 points of sneak attack, 11 points regular and 5 points if FIRE damage on a single hit, then more on the next ... then pulls back for cover. Okay ...
POP POP!!! Beau deals 10 damage on the first, then 15 from a CRIT on the second! Sweet! Flurry of BLOWS, I love it ... oooh, she's using its own lightning damage against it? Nice one ...
Yasha's going for an eyeball! Yes! Oooh, what's this? 21 points of regular, 6 points of fire damage! Okay! Second hit is 18 points plus 8 pounds of fire damage! Oooooooh ... but no, she CAN'T do Sentinel with Jester's duplicates ...
Dragleb grabs U'kotoa by the face and just BELCHES Lightning Breath into it! Whoa ... I'm sorry 12 D10 of lightning damage? Hmmmm ... so that's 62 points of damage! Fuck ... on 2 chunks that's 124 points ... sweet fuck that's a lot of damage ...
Yasha gets a reaction through Sentinel, do she lands 30 plus 5 points of fire damage! Oof! She GRABS ITS TAIL SND JUST SHOCKS IT!!! Travis: "Aww, that's some BOSS SHIT!!!"
Veth tries Voltaic Bolt again but not on an eye ... then Sam rolls MASSIVE and Laura chastised him fir trying to play it safe. Still, Veth gets 56 points of damage! So it's still good ... thrn he trll her the worst joke ever ... urgh ... c'mon Sam! Have mercy!
U'kotoa tries to get into Fjord's head again ... and this time it WORKS?!!! Oh shit ... and now it's PUPPETTING HIM?!!! So OF COURSE he goes after Jester. 25 points of slashing damage! FUUUUUUUCK!!! But at least he snaps right back out of it. But it's BAD ... Jester is HURT, but clearly she's PISSED too.
Holy fuck, she's casting Mass Heal through her duplicates ... 700 POINTS DISTRIBUTED BACK among everybody in ONE MOVE!!! Holy fuck! Liam: "This is more than she healed us throughout the ENTIRE CAMPAIGN!!! Cue a whole lit of divvying up throughout the party! This is like her finest hour since that fucking cupcake! :3
Another cannonade! More crazy dice damage math! It's half damage but it still counts for a lot!

Oh man, it was so good to see them all again!! I'm going to have to rewatch at some point, but Caleb is definitely in a weird, emotional in-between place.
Like, you're in your early 30s, all of your friends have careers, and Significant Others, and even families, and there’s just you. Who had a traumatic childhood that delayed your start on adulthood and maybe means you're "behind the curve." The only time you've ever lived on your own you were starving on the streets, homeless and penniless and sunk so deep into a depression you didn't feel human. Now you have a house, and a Tower, all your own, but it is so. Empty. Your friends visit, and you're just a Sending or a Teleport away, but . . . They have their own lives. And that depression maybe starts to sink back in. And you finally have some closure on the biggest quest of your life since it became your own, but all that means is you're kind of directionless. What now? What next? What if I choose wrong?
And yes, on top of that you're falling more and more in love with your Kryn Friend who visits you, but always on his terms. And that's okay, he has his own problems and his own priorities, and you can't imagine you would be worth more risk than he is already taking. You have the life you deserve . . . The life you earned . . . So why does it not feel like enough?

Twenty-four things I noted about the The Mighty Nein Reunited Part 1 “Unfinished Business” :
May I suggest the unofficial title of this one-shot : The Mighty Nein : Horny On Main
Can I first just say that everyone looks so hot. And by that, I mean the cast AND their character with new art (Yasha's hair oh my god)
Veth is ready to open her kids camp, which may or may not be a front for money-laundering quote-unquote "blood-money" from the Gentleman. I LAUGHED SO MUCH, IT'S SO ON PARR
Marisha is describing Beau as exhausted from work and ready to go home to Yasha and very respectful of work/private life boundaries. Liam, coming for Marisha's throat : "Have you started role-playing ?"
MARTINA STEWARD i love Ashley with all my heart
Oh my god I have missed Jester & Fjord's relationship so much, I love how Laura and Travis's banter is done.
I loved the prequel of the adventure so much, just slices of life of the Mighty Nein.
Love that Caleb finishes his lectures with good philosophy and a barely veiled critique of the Academy ways : "Make time in your studies for history or you will be doomed to repeat it. History is littered with sharp-minded individuals like yourselves who bit off more than they can chew, and it somehow always comes back to bite them in the butt !"
Travis choosing to play Fjord still having no dignity cleared my skin, cleared my crops, etc etc. Marisha, wheezing : "Even the NPCs are hazing you !!"

I love how Jester described her and Fjord's house, it's basically an art studio that they began to transform into a house, but they're not enough around to completely transform it.
Amazing shenanigans of Beau, Veth, Kingsley and Yasha just taking off from their respective eagles and just do amazing acrobatic shit amongst the tree jungles.
Caleb, renamed 'Ceagle' when he was an eagle, now Caleb again : "Oh... I can't tell if my back hurts from the fall, or from Beauregard kegeling me like a vice for the entire trip." Beau, very proud of herself and her vibrant sexual life : "Sorry, I got a good grip." (Bonus Travis, exasperated by the lesbians : "... okayyyyy...") (Bonus Matt : "This is a horny episode. And that's saying something !)
The Mighty Nein being obsessed with one random monkey and feeding it and then of course the monkey is following them loudly and distract Beau enough that they fall into a poisoned fungus trap : honestly, so on brand.

Feel free to delete this if you aren’t comfortable with asks but your thoughts on Caleb are so good and its very subtle (as compared to other points in the C2 lmao) but he is truly not doing so well. And I know a lot of it is his isolation from the nein (a bit of it self imposed, I feel? He was so hesitant to call Beau outside of “working hours” but she was instantly like “yeah!! come over!! we have dinner and wine we are so happy to see you!!”) but what are your thoughts (if any) on like…Caleb finally being actually safe. Trent is locked away and no one is looking for him and he has a home to go to and no imminent danger to distract him like he did with the Nein. And now he has nothing to do but sit and process that fact, and that’s a really hard thing to do. Certainly not as dangerous as running off to fight a storm giant, but for our wizard friend probably way less enjoyable.
Agh. I just want him to be ok but he’s not quite there yet.
Hi there, nonnie! Sorry this took me ages to respond to, I definitely don't mind answering asks and appreciate your question and kind words!
I don't know that Caleb isn't doing *well*, exactly, it's just that he could be doing *better*. Like you said, he's at the very least safer than he's been in a very long time. He's confronted his abuser and won. He has a home, and friends he can call on almost whenever he wants (*almost*: it's clearly not the first time he's interrupted Beau and Yasha, and he and Veth have a signal for Do Not Interrupt; the boy has terrible timing lol). But he's on the edge of a precipice.
So yeah, I do think he's hovering in a liminal place. He's in the doorway, so to speak. Does he trust his ability to make choices? Does he trust his own judgement? He's suddenly confronted with a future he's never had the privilege of imagining.
Much of this hinges on if this is pre- or post-T-Dock destruction. It was clear that deciding *not* to go back and save his parents was the decision that determined the most prominent fork in his branching future. Either scenario, Caleb does feel like he's holding his breath, in the moment before the plunge.
The boy's brain has been swimming in stress hormones for ~18 years. That isn't something you can put away in six months. But it's actually a *good thing* that he's allowing himself to feel lonely. It means he's allowing himself to want, to dream, to hope, beyond the single-minded focus he's had for years.
He's standing at the edge of the rest of his life, and the thing is that we know it's going to be *so good*. He just needs to step out and get there.
