I've had this blog since quarantine so I can't even remember if I've written anything like this so I'm happy to write one for you regardless or not if it's a repeat.

okay mod souda behavior here where I say random stuff before each story but I'm watching impractical jokers rn and I don't know how some people watch this because the secondhand embarrassment is insane I literaly have to look away PLZZZ. This took an hour to write because half way through I started watching impractical joker clips on youtube (while the show is playing on the tv)

♥ He isn't a stickler about your interests. A good thing about being with him is that he won't make fun of you for anything you enjoy, no matter if he enjoys it himself or not. He'll never ask you to turn a movie off or to stop talking about something. He knows more than anybody else how isolating it can feel when somebody refuses to try and tolerate other people's passions; he would never put you down.

♥ He's naturally off-putting. If you experience people considering you off-putting then don't feel alone because Shinguuji is considered off-putting as well. He brushes off the negative things people thinks when it comes to himself, but when it comes to you and the negativity you face, it's hard for him to conceal how irritated he gets.

♥ I know some people have hyperfixations of like medieval torture methods so imagine how much he'd love that.

♥ ^ You also have the chance to teach him about really niche things, that's pretty sweet.

♥ ^ But I imagine that with some topics, he's gonna try and teach you about your own hyperfixation and it's gonna get annoying.

♥ He loves ur reactions to things. He gets so gushy-gushy and poetic. He likes finding what words make you smile, which ones make you laugh and which ones make you want to roll your eyes.

You stared back at him for a few seconds. He held an intense, filling gaze. The two of you were sitting on a park bench, facing the trees and enjoying the sounds of the birds. In between the conversation, there were moments of silence. Usually, he'd break them with small, unrelated sentences, but he's been quiet. "Korekiyo," you said quietly, a bit worried to startle him. To you, he was either in deep thought or, more humorously, sleeping with his eyes open. It took you to say it louder before he turned away. "My apologies," he smiled with a tilt of his head. His hair cascaded down his shoulder. His eyes went to the green leaves dancing in the wind. "We sit here in such a beautiful place, so lively. Most people would give their life away to view a sight like this." With no response, you just stared at him more, already knowing what he was going to say. He looked at you. "I've been all around the world and so I do not wish to waste my time looking at something I've seen before. You, however, do not come close to any of the beauties our world gives to us." "You love me so much, don't you?" You gave him a smile while his yellow eyes developed a look of interest: "You say that but do not realize that jests can be true words, too."

♥ If you need your alone time, he isn't going to stop you because he likes his, too. He knows that obviously you can be infatuated with somebody while also finding comfort in solitude.

♥ ^ And with that, he also has his own boundaries when it comes to where he goes whenever he wants solitude. He likes reading his books and analyzing his artifacts, all of which takes place in his study.

♥ ^ Yeah and don't touch his stuff because he is very protective of his collections. Therefore, he'd also never mess with something you own.

♥ If you're the type of person to have stuffed animals, and especially make them talk, he isn't going to pick up on that very quickly as means of a thing people still do. He'll give a history lesson as to 'ah yes, i've learned about this form of imagination within cultures of story telling, oral adventures'.

♥ Most of the time, he'll put your comfort over his.

♥ He'll stay up with you whenever you have trouble sleeping and are fully awake at 2am, no matter the cost. He is going to make sure that you know he is always there for you. He always has things to do.

♥ If you need help falling asleep, he'll do things like sing to you and let you watch videos in bed, whatever will make you most comfortable.

♥ He got some crazy eye contact btw I just want to put that out there.

got all that? great! here's my final unorganized little rambles about the show:

shoutout to Rusty Rose's Birdie, who only appears in the very first and very last eps for some reason 😭 her speech about it not being her power source came outta nowhere too, but i loved the message behind it

when everyone arrives at the Grim, just before the ep ends, Nine starts breathing heavily and it. instantly reminded me of Movie!Tails when the bar was calling them freaks. fuck. its a nice reminder of where Nine's coming from

speaking of Nine his poses getting more unhinged over time!! hell yeah

i love that the final fight(s) felt like a kid smashing 3 different Lego sets together, real Robot Pirate Island shit

i laughed a little too hard when the Grim's dome started closing in cus Nine's citadel-thing already reminded me of a thing that happened in Fortnite once, but hell naw they had to add The Storm too sdfghj

we're four years into the 2020's and Sonic has nearly died an agonizingly slow death 3 times in 3 different continuities! and dare i say it was delicious every time >:)

unless Word of God says otherwise I'm gonna assume that the giant shadow at the end was The Return Of Metal Big lpoihgfds

So... Twitter, huh? My spoiler filters there had some leaks, and I saw some discussion out of context that... actually made me kinda scared to finish the show. But then I did, and had fun with it just like the other two seasons, and I remembered that Twitter gets high-strung about things that don't matter so much, and that giving it sway over how much I enjoy things is silly lol.

Yes, I think the last season could've been paced differently so it wasn't 5 episodes of the same Final Boss Fight. Yes, I think the writing switches jarringly between gearing for a young new audience and for a seasoned old one. Yes, I think the 2D flashbacks look and move worse than what fans constantly make for free. Yes, I think the final episode doesn't do nearly as much housekeeping as it should (does the Shatterverse still exist or not??). Yes, I think declaring the show is canon to the games or whatever they said probably wasn't the best idea. And yes, I think Black Rose should've had a shoulder-parrot!Birdie to match the other Amys. All valid critiques! All sensible things to think when you've been around the Sonic bush!

But I swear to god, people on Twitter act like these things spoil the whole package. Where's the nuance? Why does every opinion there become an absolute worth tearing others down for? Is it the character limit? I bet it's the character limit.

There's so much I love about this show that were infeasible for the Sonic brand just 3-4 years ago. Externalizing the characters' facets to explore them in-depth. Said exploration spanning multiple episodes instead of being one-and-done. The sheer amount of genuine Sonadow food (and I don't actively do shipping, so me adding it here should hold a lot of weight). The snappy, playful, yet blistering fight scenes that, dare I say, feel like a successful TV-budget Spider-Verse. It was all so much fun!

But I guess stuff like Green Hill being the gang's "home" is a big deal-breaker?? Like?? I thought that was silly too, but not worth ratio'ing people with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse over? Get well soon, I guess??

Rambling over, shout-out to the entire country of Canada for giving me the most fun I've had with a Sonic show since X! I'm gonna go figure out how to address all this as The End lol

I was wondering what tips do you have on making sprites for rpgmaker? size? etc? really love your work that i saw on twitter!!! i love your usage of color man

TYSM!! Btw I might go back and forth editing some parts as there is things I've might forgotten over time.

ON DRAWING them:

Most sprite follow a multiples of 8, so whatever size you pick, make sure is something like 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48... all depending on the RPG maker you have (please read the RPGmaker section).

Picking the size for sprites it's gonna depend on your art style and limits. The smaller the size you have to reduce your color palettes, less shading, less details, and you're gonna center more on pixel art take. Faster workflow for pixel art style at the cost of some art limitations. The bigger scales allow more color palettes, and even non-pixel rendering because the space, having more freedom in what you draw, but there is more risk to mistake and takes more time to make.

For reference, these are Gordon and Benrey walking sprites I've made, 48x48 as the biggest RPG maker allows vs 16x16 at smallest.

3. If you can afford it, get Aseprite. It's an art program dedicated to pixel art with a lot of keys to help you and will save you lot of time! But you can still work on your art program of choice as long it has pixel features AND symmetry options (so you make sure both sides on a sprite or asset is the same both sides).

4. On a walking sprite, you don't have to draw every part moving, a slight hint of movement in the feet it's enough to get your point across.

5. If you're going pixel, limit your palette a little, not that you have to restrict yourself to 8bit colors, but isn't necessary have many greens that are identical, and better have very distict shades on green that will help colors pop up better AND will help you draw assest faster and easier when color picking.

IE avoid palettes like the one in the left, and try like ones in the right.

ON RPG MAKER:

Except for MZ, all versions of RPGmakers only have one size of the assets. (And other important limitations)

2003: Only 16x16, and can only work on a 8bit palette (256 colors) meaning you won't be able use sertain colors and will not allow you export your assets over one wrong pixel Ace: only 32x32. MV: only 48x48. No layers options. MZ: multiple sizes (x16, x24, x32 and x38), allows layers!

They're gonna realase RPG maker unite with even more tiles option, but from now I wont opine much on it, because I can't really.

2. (For MV and MZ) Install "zoom" and "pixel perfect" plugins for a better look of your sprites.

In pixel art, in order to have your work appreciated, you have to resize it, as in, zoom it it, and making sure the pixels aren't blurry. Later PRG maker doesn't really aim pixel art, so there is no option to do this on base engine.

But you can install plugins that allow it, here an example left to right: 1) Base game (no zoom, no pixel perfect). 2) Base + zoom plugin (without pixel perfect). 3) Zoom+Pixel Perfect

Or well, here a full screenshot example of with both plugins vs no plugin/base game.

For sake not overwhelming myself I'll leave it here and give more when I remember lol.

hm. idk how much you know or want to know bc i dont want to end up spoiling the plot of the best piece of media ever created by human hands containing the absolute flawless amazing showstopping pinnacle of storytelling Natural "N" Harmonia Gropius. but also its an 11 year old game and i spoil it constantly anyway so lmao

bw itself in general? imo the Peak of pokemon all bias aside. the animated 2d sprites, the environments (going over the skyarrow bridge for the first time WOOOO), the music, the pokemon designs themselves, it still had mythical pokemon events like Victini's, pokemon musicals, Pokestar Studios in bw2, auugahhhh chewing on bw/bw2 like its a multivitamin gummy

the music is probably one of the best things about it! routes have slight variation depending on the season (bw has seasons btw its very pretty) which is super neat. village bridge is one of my favorite pokemon songs, it'll activate more instruments as you explore the bridge and talk to people with instruments and things. also Driftveil City. just driftveil its iconic

and now here's an entire no holds barred rant on Him

n. where do i start with him. i will be spoiling literally everything about him btw i just love explaining him

abandoned in a forest at like 5ish years old, he learned to talk with pokemon because he lived with them. ghetsis ends up finding him, claims he's his father, and whisks little n away to plasma castle and everything goes speeding downhill on a sled going over ice.

n's naturally Too Nice, so ghetsis is able to convince him that every human is pokemon-abusing scum by only letting n see pokemon that have been mistreated and isolating him from people other than ghetsis himself and n's foster sisters, anthea and concordia. he makes n think only he can change the world by joining with one of the twin dragons, becoming champion to prove his strength to the region, and from there he can force all people to separate from pokemon.

presumably the first time n's been let out of plasma castle is at 20 years old when bw takes place which on its own is just. insanely horrific. he's genuinely surprised that all the people he meets over the course of the game treat their pokemon well and their pokemon love them in return. unfortunately for n he is STUBBORN. up until the bitter end he keeps holding onto the belief that humans and pokemon should be separated despite all the evidence contrary to that because thats all he's known all his life. was he supposed to just throw away all he's been working towards for 15 years? drives me insane how deeply entrenched n was in his mindset that even when he had suspicions, he couldn't let himself waver from the path he chose. he literally runs away and disappears for TWO YEARS after you defeat him because he's so lost.

yknow how kieran tries to be the hero of ogerpon's story and gets furious when sv protag takes that away from him? thats kinda how n is, he thinks he's supposed to be the hero of unova but after clashing with you he realizes he is Not. "Is the world going to choose you, and not me?!" <- line that has driven me nuts for over a decade. n is literally designed like a classic mainline game protag: compatitively simple casual outfit (with the bright green hair to set him apart though), does the gym challenge and becomes champion, catches a box legendary, is fighting against a threat in order to save the region. the only difference being that threat was a lie, n was being used so ghetsis could take over the region.

speaking of ghetsis's atrocities. there's his infamous "freak without a human heart" line. there's the fact his final team is designed to counter and sweep n's final team, either he was planning for n to end up betraying him or just outright disposing of n no matter what he did once he outlived his usefulness. there's the fact he probably didn't even take much care of n and dumped the responsibility on anthea and concordia who probably aren't much older than n. there's the fact that in usum's rainbow rocket storyline, that timeline's ghetsis has one of the twin dragons, which i've seen interpretations of being that he's trapped n and taken the dragon or straight up Killed n because the dragon is supposed to choose its partner. fucked up stuff!

and throughout it all n still has some attachment to ghetsis! "It's hard to call you this, but… Father! Please understand."

ghetsis may have done All That but he's still almost all n had for so many years. n is also again, Too Nice, he still wants to see the best in ghetsis. pokemon masters had a storyline where ghetsis seems to be trying to make up and n makes the choice to trust him. ghetsis betrays them all of course but the fact n still chose to believe in him again is so. augh

enough about The Tragedy of N Harmonia though, he does turn his life around and seems so much happier in bw2. compare his first game encounter theme to his second. the first is creepy, stops jarringly, is literally named Prisoner to a Formula. his second reminds me of carnival music and i love it so so so much. also, i've had weird issues in the past where putting images under a readmore screws up the entire post's formatting and i dont want to retype THIS ENTIRE RANT but. in bw2 his battle sprite has a bigger smile than in bw1. he regained his whimsy :)

misc thing. he canonically talks so fast some people can't understand him. this is reflected in the game by his text printing faster than everyone else's, and if you set your text speed to Fast he talks at a unique EVEN FASTER speed which i think is really funny. they just Really wanted him to talk super fast they even bothered to make him his own text speed

What do you think about jhope fs? And appearance ?

When I think of her I always get a talented woman vibe. I think she must dancer, sometimes I get "Backup K-Pop Dancer" vibes. She's really talented and naturally talented. She fights and works hard to get whatever she wants, a determined hardworker person. She doesn't seem to be THAT spiritual though, I feel that she's more interested in other things than in spirituality, such as music, dance, reading books, studying and researching anything she has her focus on and want to know more about it, etc.

She has a very strong energy, you can feel the energy and her presence really clearly. Her energy is very sweet and kind, she herself is very sweet and kind I guess🩷

She's very very stylish just like her man(Hobi), at the same time I think she likes to wear floral dresses, I think that she also likes to wear red, black or silver hot short dresses(Especially when she wants more attention), she naturally catch people's attention and eyes. I also think that she likes wearing those black necklaces sometimes, and other silver necklaces too.

These feel just like her idk🥺🖤

When I think of her I imagine her having a curvy body, I didn't really thought about thighs but I think it is a bit thick or muscular and toned. Waist is defined and I imagine her having good shoulders and attractive collarbones as well. I think she has very dark hair, probably black, not dark brown. Also it is straight and very shiny. For eyes I think she may have siren/cat/fox eyes, I sometimes imagine green, sometimes imagine brown, be it dark or light, I think that green eyes fits her more, when I imagine her, green eyes fits her more in my mind. I got a feeling she may have some specific and unique moles in her face(Probably cheeks?). I think she has medium to big lips, full and round lips, red lipstick really fits her. She's tall, above 1,67 I guess. Skin is white and very bright, clear and smooth, not pale white but she isn't tanned at all as well. Full eyebrows and very very long straight hair.

I think she really likes coca-cola or sprite. Cup noodles also.

I think people usually see her as a mysterious woman, very attractive, independent, intimidating and strong(Mentally). I imagine her having a killing gaze/look or idk a serious look?, that may be one of the reasons why people feel intimidated by her.

When I think of her I can also imagine a dark blue color, also black color and yellow color too.

This one may be too personal but I think her name may start with the same letter as Hobi, J or H..I thought of Julie and Heather, I know these are not korean names though. Julie is such a pretty name btw.

She gives me Scorpio, Sagittarius and Aries vibes sometimes. Also Aquarius?

I think she's very perfectionist and detailed.

That's all I could think as of right now, and I just woke up now so my mind isn't working at all🥴 I really appreciate Hoseok's fs, she seems to be so kind and generous, and very talented too🫂

This theory is about how I think the Hard Mode versions of the Ruins enemies foreshadow the secret bosses of Deltarune!

After watching P-RiSe's theory video on the Human Souls (check them out BTW they were the one that inspired me to make this theory) I think all the Hard mode Bosses from Undertale are foreshadowing the secret bosses from Deltarune!

Reasons why are because since P- RiSe pointed out that each one of the enemies in the ruins & their hard mode counterparts as well parallel the 7 Souls. (I'm excluding the Bosses/Mid Bosses here though)

Vegetoid = Green Soul. It can heel you with green bullets (AKA the Kindness ability) and it's themed after a vegetable, (in Vegetoid's case it's a carrot) which are a type of food. This Parelle's Kindness with them having used to be a chef/cook. Heck Vegetoid even says, "Eat your greens!"

Whimsun = Orange Soul. It seems like the opposite of courage at first. But when you realize that facing your fears is an act of bravery. (and considered even braver than fearing nothing) It starts to make a bit more since. Epically since it's hard mode counterpart (Whimsalot) who is a knight that never backs down. One more thing Whimsun's end game text is "Braver Every Day!"

Loox = Magenta Soul. Loox is well…A giant eye, and since the Magenta Soul human was one that wore glasses (which a common insult/nick name for people that wear then are called 4 eyes) we can make a connection there. What helps is that it's hard mode counterpart is called Astigmatism which is an eye disease. (There are some themes of being a reformed bully, so I wonder if that ties to the Magenta Soul)

Moldsmal = Blue Soul. Its end game text is "Backup Dancer" witch ties to The Blue Soul since they were a ballerina. There are also themes of beauty here and since ballet is often tied to beauty & grace, this could be another theme that connects the two.

Migosp = Red Soul. It has themes of being a jerk but it's not really since it's said to be with the wrong crowd. This ties to the whole gimmick of Undertale & even what Chara is actually like. It's Frisk's (and the player's) job to show monsters that not all humas are evil. Sure, there's an option to kill all the monsters in the genocide route but that's considered the bad ending. Chara is stereotyped by the fandom as evil because of the Genocide's route's ending but if you took the time to look at all the lore the true lab brings like the fact after the accidently killed their adopted brother, they sacrifice themselves to save monster kind.

Froggit = Cyan Soul. It's hard mode counterpart Final Froggit is royalty themed and the Cyan Soul's Golf discerption is "The dethroned "Ball" with a sharp attack" this could tie into them. There is even on Froggit that asks you to be Patient enough to not skip through its dialogue.

And The Dummy = Yellow Soul. The whole joke is that it's cousin (the Mad Dummy and later Mad Mew Mew) is out for revenge! And since revenge could be seen by someone doing said revenge is an act of justice. (Heck The Dummy's Overworld sprite is even yellow like the color of the Yellow Soul)

I noticed that the Hard Mode versions might have some Parelle's to the secret bosses! Which a theory is that all the secret bosses use a different Soul color in there fights!

Jevil = Migospel. Migospel is a clown just like Jevil. And Migospel has themes loneliness, like how Jevil is all alone in a prison cell since his best friend was the one who put him in there. Migospel is also known to be hiding it true feeling behind a mask of laughter like Jevil's nasalism about how he knows he's in a video game.

Spamton = The Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew. In Deltarune an item that is needed for his boss fight is a mannequin that has a resentence to Cat/Puppet attacks. And since for some reason Spamton has the Cat element this ties to Mad Mew Mew being a Cat Robot. Spamton even has the Dummy motif in his battle theme. Spamton also has these spirit-like attacks which ties into The Dummy & Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew being ghost that are just possessing Dummies & Robots.

With all this information out of the way we can predict what the 5 other secret bosses are like! (we can have some help from some other theories like seven deadly sins theory and the secret bosses also being inspired by the main bosses from Undertale)

If we fight, them in the Order of the Fallen Human Backwards then here is how I think it goes!

The Secrect Boss that utilizes the Kindness ability will be Greek mythology based and seems to have a bossy attitude! She'll be a girl that is selfish and has a corrupted since of justice. This will be the chapter 3 secret boss! (Since I feel like The Green Room is hinting towards the Kindness Soul)

The Secrect Boss that utilizes the Perseverance ability will have a theme of reforming and/or eyes. Since Chapter 4 will most likely take place in the church, this could mean the secret boss is based on a biblically accurate angel. She could be based of Muffet (not a main boss but is the only fight that utilized the Magenta Soul) and be apathic and lazy. And she is a girl as well!

The Secrect Boss of chapter 5 will be based off Papyrus, will use the Integrity ability, and will be another boy. He might be related to Jevil and have themes of he could be based off an Incubus and boss fight might have some Lovecraftian horror elements with rearranging his face. He could also be a known liar & have villainous intentions!

The Final Secrect Bosses could be based off Asgore and Torial and both can use the patients & bravery affects in their battle. They are a couple who are a king & his knight. The king is brash while the knight is a coward. The knight could have anger issues, while the king is power hungry and might be the face with the pink and yellow eyes.

This sounds cool, I see how the themes of the different souls are woven in and kinda perverse to make each boss antagonistic. It reminds me a bit of the recent-ish analysis video by Shayy on the ‘dark side of the soul traits.’

The fact we got Yellow Soul ability in two deffo convinces me of the Each Boss = Each Soul theory, if it does happen it would be interesting to know why, or what it will lead to. What’s its significance?

This is me just brainstorming now but we see how the Shadow crystals collected after each secret boss allows Kris to see some sort of alternate/mirrored reality by looking through them. I wonder if, similar to UT how collecting 7 souls break the barrier, if the 7 shards will break the ‘barrier’ between the light and dark world? Eh Who knows

I was wondering why you guess Chapter 4 will take place at the Church? Nothing against it i’m just curious. I need to learn from Church/Alan theories because I just haven’t considered it as much😅

Something that bothers me with ANY Monty and Glamrock Bonnie theory.

In this series, we never have had an answer, to be blunt, before all of the clues related to it were dropped. We were dripped fed who the killer was. It was first a newspaper article, then a purple sprite, then a furry, then a mad scientist. Then something, something digital ghost.

My point is that we had these layered questions. Who was this man? Why did he do it? Was it even a man? Etc.

I think that's why the Phone Guy theory was solid at the time. With the clues we had, it made sense. Then, new clues came about.

How does this relate to Monty?

Well, recently, I've seen so many posts on Twitter that are just like, "How can you be so dense? Look at all the evidence Monty killed Bonnie."

They will bring up the same stuff. The Missing Message, The Understudy Message, The Electric Sign in Ruin, The Gutter Ball in HW2.

Look how evil Monty is.

Then, they conveniently forget about the message that Monty skips shows. You know, the shows he supposedly killed Bonnie to perform in. The other parts of the missing message. How Bonnie was acting very suspicious that night. How he ended up in Bonnie Bowl when the message said he was the last seen in Gator Golf.

The fans who don't think Monty is guilty aren't dense. They just see questions that haven't been answered and think, "There's more to this."

Why was Bonnie going to Monty Golf?

Why did he visit the East Arcade?

Why did it take him hours to get to each place?

Why is Monty visiting the catwalks during shows? Enough times that the staff just knows he'll be there.

Why is Bonnie found in Bonnie Bowl and not Gator Golf?

What's with the rug? (It comes from the East Arcade, BTW)

So now you have another set of questions.

Did Bonnie cut up the carpet and use it? If so, why? What was he planning?

I'm not saying that Monty is 100% innocent. There is logic to think he did something, and it is apparent he does seem to hate Freddy and wants to replace him. Some things indicate he might've defended himself and feels guilt about what happened.

It's like Roxy is a self-entitled diva who reflects her insecurity on others. At the same time, we know she can be caring and protective of those she cares about.

So why can't Monty be a green-eyed monster who wants to replace Freddy? Who has also potentially dealt with trauma and regret? Might, like Roxy, have a redeeming trait we have yet to see.

I will be honest: the thought that Bonnie might've been the aggressor fills me with joy. Not because I want to rub it in if it's revealed to be true. Just because it makes him far more interesting, take the two examples above. If Roxy was just kind, and Monty was fully innocent. Would they be interesting? Not likely. You give them flaws and things they can grow out of. Suddenly, you have potential. That's why I love the idea that Bonnie might've tried something. It turns him from Freddy's lost Lenore to a character.

Bonnie could have tried to do something to Monty and failed. He also does care about Freddy. We don't know why Bonnie would try it, either. He might've been forced, too, or he was worried Monty might attack Freddy. That is far more interesting than "He was a perfect whittle angel Freddy loved."

I'm starting to ramble.

My main point.

Monty isn't "confirmed" Guilty yet. There are still questions that WILL be answered. Until then, you can think either way. Don't be acting like it's a fact.

Bonus: To anyone saying "Monty can't be red herring because it's way to obvious" congratulations. You've just found out what a Red herring is.

Little HW2 Spoiler

I noticed in the cut content, it was only "fixed" Monty who almost made it into the Bowling Game, but there's no files for shattered Monty. Nor any "Abandoned" mode for the Bowling Minigame. Such as Chica and Roxy have. Freddy has a very similar pattern, he just wasn't cut. We have his cake minigame. It doesn't have a shattered version. Also, neither of them can have a "copied" game. Freddy is missing hid head/body and Monty is bisected. I think the two of them will be given a large role in the HW2 DLC.

(Also can we Monty fans have ONE nice thing for Monty in universe. Freddy is obviously set, but Roxy got that that heartwarming scene, You can give Chica her voice-box for no reason but to be kind. Daycare attendant had his closure in Ruin. Everything that fans of these characters can appreciate. You know what us Monty fans got? Monty gets fucking electrocuted. We just want a taste of what everyone else got is all. )

JJ2 update + event dialogue

The new update changed some things that I think were interesting, like the bot brain fights you in, changing from red to green. Just a couple of observations, plus event stuff, some of the conversations are unfinished because I only screenshoted what I thought was interesting.

Brains’s bot

The machine brains fights Barry at the end of Legitimate Research changed color, along with the legitimate logo being added. It was originally red, a better contrast to brains hair. But I think the color change happened because Red Photon’s final fight is also a red bot. Just to differentiate the boss fights.

The sticker album still has the red version, interestingly enough.

Big Stomper background

Before this update, the background for Stomper would be wherever you were before getting the vehicle token. Just the base background for whatever level you were in. This was the only vehicle without a distinct background, the Galaxy Ship had a space background, the Gravity Suit had a vapor wave background and Wild Wild Rex had a desert. After the update, the background is a trash yard outside of Legitimate Research.

I don’t know why, this really hit me how different this is to what we’ve seen of LR so far. It’s so gray and foggy in the background, looks like they’re burning coal and releasing the fumes. It just looks so sad to me, Barry crashing through their walls everyday hasn’t stopped the progress and destruction of LR. I’m thinking too far into this, but still just shocked me went I saw it the first time

Sometimes Rory will appear on one of the trash piles, just hanging out.

Sometimes SAM will appear behind the trash piles, broken and thrown away. I know every time Barry uses it, it eventually breaks, but this is telling us he’s not coming back this time.

Event Dialogue

This is the second piece of dialogue, the first being Craig telling Barry he’s gonna tell him some JJ facts and Barry asking if it’s to him or the player. These screenshots are missing Barry’s response to Craig, but it was similar to Betty’s.

There is a response from Robo-Barry that he wasn’t listening because he was on power saving mode.

I think this is all the dialogue for this. Also in the main game, the crying brains sprite is never used. I’d love if there was an event where we went to Betty’s universe, seems like it would be fun.

Craig says you can play JJ with one finger. Barry responds we’ve all done the tutorial, Craig.

Barry being Barry, what else do I have to say.

This is interesting because there is no Robo-Betty, unless she hasn’t been made yet or the talking toaster is Robo-Betty. If the former is true, this means their universes have more variation then just gender-bent characters.

I think this is interesting, because this means that Otto has been Barry’s tailor since he was a kid. Or there’s a weird amount of people losing there sleeves, but it’s thirty five is around the estimated age of Barry. Plus the sprite I showed isn’t used when you originally meet him.

*Barry: I had all my inheritance in the gramophone business…*

*Barry: I was gonna be rich…*

*Barry: Then those MP3 players came along and ruined everything!*

*Barry: Thank goodness for floating coins! *

He’s talking to Craig btw. But this is so interesting to me. MP3 players were invented in 1997, and if he is 35 years old, he would have been born in 1988, in 1997 he would be 9. He couldn’t have invented his money at before that time unless he is much older. This would also match up with Otto because it would be when he was a kid when he would start ripping his sleeves. He would have to be born in 1979 to be at least 18 during that year. Another option for this is his father invested the money and the gramophone business that his father was working at/already invested in, took Barry’s inheritance and invested it and told Barry they would be rich. This would make him being around 35 and we know Barry’s father isn’t the best dad.

I am personally biased towards Bdubs being The Most Blood Player to Ever Blood but you made a very compelling argument for Hope (and I can't be too grumpy bc youve given not one, not two, but three!! blood aspects).

Imo Blood powers are So cool and So underexplored.

Impulse is able to manipulate bonds between people- dialing all that rumor-spreading up to 11, and making relationships sour or grow at will.

He can dial up the bond so much that whoever he's allied with can share powers- borrowing back and forth with Bdubs as needs must. That Blood/Hope combo of bonds + belief could do anything, as long as trust is maintained.

Pearl walks into meetings between red lives and everyone is like "ah, Pearl, my dear friend and ally Pearl" and only remembers later that those warm and fuzzy feelings made No Sense.

While she is negatively affected by her aspect, it's hard to focus on other things. But if she stopped self destructing, Pearl could stabilize bonds, increase group cohesion, maybe even create telepathic or empathic bonds without the drawbacks of soulmate shared health.

also yes i immediately thought of the red life meeting where they just.....let her stay 😭 can't remember if she was yellow or green atp but she WASNT RED and not a SINGLE PERSON made a move........they love her for her girlboss energy.

blood is such a funky aspect (i wish we saw any of the powers for it Ever) and it fits so many life series people so well because the ENTIRE SERIES basically REVOLVES around the relationships and teams that they have with each other. i was originally a little iffy on making skizz a third blood player but if anyone deserved it it was him and also he's a sprite so who cares lmao

my controversial Jerma985 take is that it’s the first day of school. i wake up at 7 AM but the FACT is I can never get off of my mattress. The first thing I do is watch Jerma’s ice challenge video, then I work on my splatoon au fanart of Jerma and Vinny Vince Sauce. When I get up, I salute to the boston mets flag hung on my wall. I sing, “I'm the giant rat who makes all of da rules, lets see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into.” Then I rush downstairs and pour myself a bowl of straight Adderall doused in sprite. After breakfast I start to get ready for school. I put on my green mexican tshirt. Then I put on my cat ear headband and bright pink belled collar. I catch the bus just in time and put on eminem on my phone, humming “Knees weak moms spaghetti” The bus drops me off and when I enter the school doors, someone comes up to me and says “nice cat ears, JERMA STAN” and throws a cup of coffee at me, staining my clothes. “U-uh yeah nice once chat” I mutter under my breath, and I pull out my custom scout baseball bat that i bought for $53 on Redbubble. They tremble before me begging me not to hurt them. i let them off with a warning and let them know that i have the power of Jerma985 and Oneyplays by my side. During my morning classes I can barely keep my eyes open, the only thing preventing me from falling asleep is me secretly watching the current Spore charity stream from my phone under my desk. For lunch I order boneless chicken wings and manage to pick it up from the local Burgerking before the bell rings. I wolf the whole meal down while i run to class hoping I won’t be late. I apologize to the teacher, Mr. Jeremy, but he says it’s okay because it’s still just the first day of school. For todays class he teaches how to do a .08 sec boat clutch from the sea of thieves playthrough. I try to pay attention but I can’t stop doodling the Fallout new vegas crew in my notebook. After school is finally over, I go home and enter Jerma’s discord vc where everyone is calling out for Scatmans world. I spend an hour doing homework while simultaneously switching tabs between Discord, Twitter, and the archive of the ballfondler stream, and watching Jerma tiktok fancams in the background. At 5:30 i boot up TF2 and enter the server ip for uncle danes second lobby. A Jerma985 hater hacks the server and starts saying “all of Jerma nation is going to superhell” Then Vinny and Lazypurple walk on stage holding the lgbt ally flag and then destroys the hacker with a single beam of light. everyone starts clapping and cheering. Then, a single message pops up on the screen: “Jerma has joined the game.” Jerma walks onto stage to reveal a button sealed under a trap door. He says, “it was never meant to be” and the entire server explodes and becomes engulfed in flames. The server shuts down. Uncle danetopia is over. Afterwards, I participate in #TF2UDAselfiday and immediately get 1.2k retweets and 64k likes. Then I read the entirety of Nancy Drew mystery of the lighthouse while listening to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and cry. Finally, I go to bed with my Red Sox tee shirt on listening to Happy Birthday once again (slowed and reverb). As i hear Jerma sing “Micheal, such a good boy this year, open up your gifts while we all cheer” i slowly drift into sleep, ready for a full night’s rest.

hey @greentrickster i made a basically full (rough) spriteset for this AU. literally the only things missing are his 6-5 breakdown and a version of Apollo's disheartened sprite(cause he looks more frazzled than disheartened or discouraged at the end of his surprise set(s)) and it would be done.

also featuring "Nahyuta is vaguely like a fallen angel" in color because it turns out the implications his scarf had were "another Japanese cultural shorthand that conveys Nahyuta’s holiness and suggests that he is like a god" and "not unlike a character with a pair of angel wings in the West" so that's. fun. (both links lead to the same page btw) not sure how godly Apollo get to be as a result. probably not that much tbh sorry bro.

anyway, sprites! in order, top to bottom, left to right, left page!

normal/neutral, thinking (and transition into talking and thinking, the side profile is a reference for how his hand's positioned), desk slam into determined (his left hand comes up and is a fist on the desk), objection point, confident (two versions).

shock 1, shock 2 and its progression, shock 1 resolution (because i forgot it before), nod, shake head, embarrassed.

fun facts/information about the choices made in the sprites under the cut~

Nahyuta keeps his arm around his back because he's mimicking Kristoph when he was standing as co-counsel (and also because that's just what he does in canon :P but here it's more of a mimic). He can take off a coat easily but mimic poses are harder to break.

his thinking animation has a fist to his mouth because i do that sometimes and this is my AU and he should have a unique pose. originally was considering keeping his arm behind his back and still might do that instead?? it works either way really

desk slam is mostly based on his canon slam, but without the beads. It's just a forearm and fist into the bench together, with his arm sort of parallel to the front of the bench instead of perpendicular (mostly to differentiate himself a bit from Asogi)

the determination pose changes the angle of the arm and adds his other hand to the bench. it's supposed to be able to slide into his breakdown (with a change in face, of course) with the vague plans i have for it now

also the main reason he gestures with his right is cause i thought it'd be fun since prosecutors use right arms/hands and defense attorneys use their left arms/hands. so what if Nahyuta just. didn't get with the program.

idk what i want his confident post to be but crossed arms is always an option. could be unique, could get in another mimic. (also if you can't read it the additional text is just saying the weird colors are a bleed-through from the colortest Apollos on the previous page)

why shock 1 and shock 2: you know how Apollo as of soj (and maybe dd) has two version of his shock animation where one has his mouth crack open like the og sprite. it's sorta like that. shock 2 is for more intense surprise which is why the papers float, Nahyuta pauses to see the floating pages (eyes dart from one side to the other), and then slaps them down to try and regain composure. also because green suggested it near the start of this whole AU and i love it. that was so much fun to draw.

i also have no idea what i actually want his embarrassed sprite to look like. awkward smile is probably gonna stick around though. it's funny.

important note, cosmic turnabout would be the same animations but the bits of hair in front are braided into the rest. he's not letting his emotions show as much. there might be an additional damage animation where he just flinches and grabs his prayer beads for this section.

when he's got Clay's jacket, it's sort of worn like Dhurke's because i like parallels and no one can stop me. maybe his arm is also actually broken but i haven't decided yet. what matters is that he refuses to use his right arm because he can feel a burning sensation from the Defiant Dragons tattoo due to his failure to his friend and he's just having a rough time of it all. also there's a non-zero chance his hair would be down more if he can't use his right arm 👀

it’s been a while. i have very roughly done sprite edits (and some general notes)

jade strider (daveways)

if you’ve been here a while, there’s no need for me to make much of any notes atp. the only thing i can mention is that i used a dave sprite because my mannerisms were a lot more similar to canon dave and it felt a lot more fitting.

i didn’t draw my symbol since i lowkey don’t fully remember. i feel like it was a cassette tape though.

john harley (plus dave lalonde [roseways] from what i remember)

we started the session when we were older. maybe about 15? so that’s why we may look a little older.

it’s hard to tell, but i’m wearing shorts! i wore these a lot since the island was a bit warm but i could never really let go of sweaters (especially one dave made me) so i tended to wear them and just rolled my sleeves up. i also liked bracelets and jewelry! and had my ears pierced. i also got a lip piercing done by roxy strider (dirkways) but i think that was a lot further in the future (maybe even earth c?)

i remember dave a bit more post grimdark, at least in terms of appearance. he got a lot of scars on his arms afterwords. his hair was also practically white afterwards, but since there’s a lack of color, i can’t really show that lol

actually now that i think about it, it would be a smart idea for me to explain how i looked in these cause of me not coloring them. i had black hair (that was very poorly cut. i cut it myself most of the time. my dad could of helped but i was determined to get it done myself), green eyes, and light tan skin. i also had a bunch of freckles. my symbol was a plant

dave, on the other hand, had dark blond hair (pretty much white post-grimdark), purple eyes, and mid tan skin. his symbol might have been a pair of needles? maybe? :P

meulin makara (kurlozways)

appearance explanation! curly, poofy black hair, grey skin obvi but it was a bit darker than “standard” (for lack of better term), and pre-death my eyes had started to turn purple. post that, my entire eyes were just full white. cause yk. dead.

i had a scar on the back of my right hand. it was covered by my glove, but it was in between my thumb and pointer finger. there was also this big one on my stomach but idk what it was from.

not pictured due to the lack of color, but i did have face paint. it was similar to a cat. kind of like a tiger? the canon drawing in my pinned is the best example of it.

i might have gotten a tattoo from porrim? it’s not clear but i have a faint memory of getting a tattoo at some point, and she knew about that kind of stuff, so it makes sense to me. ^.3.^

OH and i had a nose piercing. that’s what that dot by my nose is for lol.

dirk lalonde (roxyways)

this is a really new one so i can’t say much. i mostly just remember myself.

appearance: light blond hair and pink eyes. i can’t really figure out what’s up with skin tone stuff. again, this is pretty new. i have no fucking idea what symbol i had.

i did programming stuff. i tinkered with robotics a bit, but it wasn’t my main deal. it was more so roxy’s.

i made this tl’s version of AR who…i’m pretty sure loathed me a bit. i attempted to make him a body at some point, but that was a bust. i considered contacting rox about it but didn’t want to bother her.

in terms of the outfit i have here? i had this off the shoulder sweater that i really really liked. i used to not wear a tank under. of course, i accidentally shrunk it in the wash, so then i did to cover my stomach. also i’m not sure when and where i got that eyebrow piercing. it’s just there until i get an idea.

(if anyone happens to see this post btw please don’t take the sprites w/out permission. ik that won’t stop anyone but it is very much appreciated if you don’t 🥲👍)

Hoooh boy you're definitely not gonna be prepared for what Nonny and the Schneidermann's are wearing then, because Jesus Christ me and my friend truly went "the only people who would love you are the ones with more or equally atrocious fashion styles" with that one out of the way, let's start tame with Y/N because I forgot a key characteristic of hers :)

-Nothing much to say about Y/N, Beige stop that reveals her midriff and light blue shorts, BIG RED CLOWNSHOES WITH HEELS, also the thing I forgot was that she literally does not have a face and has to manually apply waterproof makeup so that she looks like a normal person everyday. The game starts off with her make up routine actually lmao I think it wasn't much of a problem for her, because most of her face was hidden thanks to her bangs anyway, but she still enjoys doing it

-Here comes our favourite Hackerman meow meow, so like, his outfits that I described before? Still pretty accurate, Mans got Black hoodie, though I think he has grey sweatpants instead of black pants, oh and also he's got BIG PINK BALLERINA SHOES WHOSE STRAPS GO O N T O P OF HIS SWEATPANTS AND END AT HIS LOWER THIGHS O_O I didn't describe them last time, partly because I totally forgot he had them until I saw his traditional character sheet and partly because I didn't see them in the game, since his sprite cuts off right above where the shoe straps end. So yeah, do with that information what you will. Also he had a straight up Lenny face at first, no eyecolor, just ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Also also he wasn't 7 feet 8, he was 9' 2" O_O .

Extra quotes we wrote on his sheet: "giiirl, get back inda BASEMENT" "Are u lost, babeygrill?" "He's got NO lips!" "He's never gonna get a kiss kiss very UGLY!" "No kiss for him"

-J. Schneidermann (because writing his full name would clutter this already long ask oof) so, pink cap with a heart on it uwu. Straight up rainbow dash hair, except short, no face because he anime blushed too hard (he actually has one, unlike Y/N but we just didn't draw it) a long sleeved shirt that's various shades of blue and INTENSE shoulder spike (not horizontally, they go vertically up to his ears) green saggy ass pants that approximately reach his ankles and have GUTSCHI written on it (makes him look like a fucked up hamster ngl) lots of chains on his wrists and pants, ears are pierced, and the most notable detail, he has mismatched shoes that he shares with his cousin, one red high heel and one... black boot or black sneaker I can't tell. He's also smoking a red vape in the pic and has a gold chocker

-B. Schneidermann, black fluffy hair that apparently also covering his face because we didn't draw him one either (rip Schneidermann face enjoyers) mirroring his cousins general outfit, except we can actually see the divide between his legs with the red loose pants he's wearing, rainbow long sleeved shirt, I think he was also supposed to have the ridiculous shoulder spikes but they look more like a high collared cape that's reaaaaaaaally short instead, 1 gold bracelet on each of his wrists and smoking a golden vape too, wears the other part of the mismatched shoe pair. He's also holding a banana and a hotdog (I think it's a hotdog at least) also wears a silver choker

Btw if you're wondering what the hell is up with the Schneidermann shoes, it's inspired by another thing we had to do in German period, be basically got a story from a newspaper that we had to retell in another way, the story we got was "Asian man steals peoples left shoes" like, specifically only the left one, which reminds me that Kim Hojungseo would be shoe thief considering that we drew a shit ton of shoes on his sheet lmao.

Extra writing on Hojungseo's sheet: "I only listen to REAL music!" "Save the fucking turtles b-baka! ùwú" "how can mirrors be real, when our eyes aren't?" "Crying on the inside"

I think I'll probably yassify part of their designs, not too much tho, oughta stay true to their OG vibe after all 😔✊ also this felt like a My Immortal chapter with these lengthy character descriptions, still kinda feel that I don't do em justice, they rlly are the kinda character designs that you simply need to ✨experience✨for yourself to truly understand. Also sorry for clogging up your asks you can tell me when to stop just sayin :,)

Food Fantasy: An Analysis on what killed a Golden Goose (1/3)

So first things first, disclaimers! I do not claim nor pretend to know every nook and cranny, ins and outs of the history of FooFan's conception, existence and uncertain future. I do not own the game nor its characters, only the opinions and thoughts stated hereon out.

This was born to vent out my frustrations with how a game like this was abused poorly by its own developer and publisher instead of being nurtured to become its full potential that could have overshadowed and remained better than the likes of Tencent's Tales of Food --I could dream, but it honestly had the potential to be.

Out of respect for the main tag, I personally will not be tagging this post and the following two with the main tag. If you want to tag it yourself with it, that's your choice. Only followers of my blog will see this.

This analysis is divided into three parts: Funtoy, Elex, and the Community. It starts under the cut. Well let's get started.

Funtoy

Ah yes, the creator. The developer. You'd think that with their sudden rise to fame during their global launch, they'd have used the massive profits they earned within the first quarter of 2018 to improve certain things about the game and then trickled it down as quickly as possible towards Global, right? Yeah, I thought so too.

After playing the game since launch, I've seen and experienced way too many things that just hammer in the fact that this is one of the most unfair gacha I've played in years. Some reasons being the following:

(Note: These are experiences ONLY on Global's version, it may also apply to CN being the original server)

⦁ The game's gacha model is aimed towards maximum predation on its players. F2p are forced to either spend some money (and thus tempt them to keep spending after getting a taste of it), or risk not even getting a good ascension of the unit to be useful at all. Paying for the event packs also doesn't guarantee that you would be able to secure a spot in the ranks. In fact, if you can't comprehend how the battle mechanics work, you could even de-rank. Fun way to burn that 800$, huh? At least you have the skin from rebates.

⦁ A little less known thing and probably theoretical at worst, the long joked about spaghetti coding of the game along with an outdated spine technology for the sprites could very well be the reason why a 2D game like this experiences the shittiest lags. Also how easy it is to hack this game with the right know-how.

⦁ Speaking of bad gameplay mechanics, did you know you could spend over fifty Mirrors and not get that final enhancement from +9 to +10 simply because there's absolutely no tangible safety net before +10?

⦁ If you're F2P, this game is terrible in giving you resources to stockpile. Because Funtoy certainly doesn't have a lot of weekly/monthly or even friendly events wherein you can get resources without spending another kind of resource. The Hawthorne event's rewards are lackluster at best, Bingo is severely limited in what it gives, and Recall also doesn't give much for a big event that only happens (supposedly) every 6 months. Did I also mention that daily resource rewards also kinda suck compared to how much you burn in just one event?

⦁ Monthly subs are a scam. Yes, you heard that right. My point of comparison here is Arknights. A monthly in AK allows you to have enough to 10-pull after 30 days, on top of a bit of stamina to help you. In FooFan? You have two monthly subs that do different things and even then, you won't have enough to 10-pull by the end of 30 days, nor is the stamina you get enough to even stockpile and ease the pressure of your need to save for the Gates or that stamina event that suddenly popped up.

⦁ A conga line of 'Must procure this unit at a high ascension to do well in the following events!'. You missed the first Pizza event? Missed the first Turkey event? God forbid, you weren't able to 5* your Beer on his debut? Well sorry, that 5* Black Tea of yours isn't gonna do squat to give you good damage. No, your 2* B-52 also isn't going to do much of anything with his lackluster damage capabilities. If you want a chance to get those event URs again, you have to wait for their pool with laughably limited pulls... and a bloated price to even pull.

⦁ The events starting after the first iteration of Turkey event get even more paywalled. As far as I remember, by the time Minestrone rolled around, an F2P with ample crystal resources can only get 2* at best. 3* and above are paywalled.

⦁ The game has incompetent balancing. The devs themselves likely have little experience in gameplay design and balancing, especially for a game with a growing roster of characters . A prime example of them launching a character not knowing it would pretty much unbalance the game? Look no further than Beer. The guy had to have a couple of nerfs done to him because he was just too meta. You know what's sadder? Before the 'switch' to Brave meta, almost all meta units was built to benefit off the Beer meta.

⦁ Artifacts. Do I even have to explain how the introduction of such a game feature so early into the lifespan of this game essentially fucked over the balance even more? Not to mention, all the more reason you'd be crying with the Gates of Trials demanding so much out of your stamina and crystal resources. F2Ps are again, the ones that suffer in this part. What's their reason? Profit, of course.

⦁ The nerf of resto chests. This was the primary source for people who were saving up stamina for the Gates... until Funtoy decided they were being too generous to their playerbase and dropped the stamina probability rate to 1% or less.

⦁ Terrible UI layout and design. Come on, be honest now, you've lost several thousand of your hard earned crystals buying screws in the fishing shop because you didn't notice that shiny warning in small text and a green button with the crystal image slapped on it, didn't you?

⦁ Look at all these SRs! All of them! Wow, they even outnumber the Rs by at least 80! What's that? There's more URs now too compared to Rs and Ms combined? That can't be real. But seriously, you'd think Funtoy could make some of these SRs into Rs and add them to the perm pool/shard fusion so people aren't stuck pulling Macaron or Dorayaki every time. They could have also populated the Team Up rewards with SRs instead of Rs. But you know... that won't bring them profit. Haha... haha.... Oh and I haven't even told you about the SP class...!

⦁ Lore. Yes, I'm sure by now you're aware that the in-game lore is different from the ones in the non-SP Food Soul bios, in the SP Food Soul bios that sort of ties in with the New World story (that global will never be getting btw). At this point, Funtoy handwaves the confusion away by saying, 'they're all different timelines'. Yes yes, an easy and cliche move to explain how shitty the writing direction went after a while. I don't know what happened, all I know is that lore got weird(er) when they introduced SP Rice.

⦁ They. Keep. Adding. More. Characters! They fail to see that a lot of their earlier players have imprinted on the first few waves of Food Souls and they sadly also fail to properly give some of them more story expansion... or skins. At the moment, they're shelling out so many JP-centric Food Souls because... as I see it? They're pandering to the last bastion of whales they have.

⦁ Merchandise. And I mean a variety of merchandise that isn't using the same official art every time. Like they couldn't afford to commission a couple of artists one or two times to make unique merchandise that would sell. They started too late on that train, and they even made it too hard for anyone not in CN or JP to even procure what already exists. Not to mention, they keep using the same 'popular' set of characters for their merchandise and never really expanding out to making merch for other characters.

These are all the things I can list off at the top of my head why Funtoy as a developer sucks ass. They could sweeten their words all they want, it won't change the fact that they've certainly made way too many bad decisions and found out about it too late, and now they're desperate to keep Food Fantasy alive to keep their profits coming in to make whatever that cat girl game they have and that supposedly 'side-game' FF2 they announced.

There may have been problems out of their control that I or you do not see, but one thing is for sure, they were blinded by greed for the money they were raking in on all their servers at the start, and never actually bothered to invest in more manpower in the right places to improve the game, both gameplay-wise and worldbuilding wise. It's actually saddening that this game could have been so much more with several QoLs and a more fleshed out lore, perhaps even spacing out the number of new units they keep introducing while going back to giving their old units more attention.

Sight Chapter Two

Summary: In which we meet the Wicca, the Phantom, the Sighted, and the Boyfriend.

There is a wicca who has lived in the forest for far longer than any creature. They watch over the forest and they wait, wait for someone to come asking for help. There is a wicca that took a boy’s face in his hands and cursed him with Sight, at the cost of his vision.

This wicca has a simple name and October is not one to remember them.

Logan is carrying Virgil through the forest, steps heavy as he holds his unconscious friends close, Roman and Remus helping guide him in their own way. The two of them alone are loud enough to help the teen navigate to where he knows the wicca still lives.

Remus stops abruptly, chittering and Logan almost trips over him.

“My apologies Remus. Is the wicca there?” Footsteps.

“Well, I am now. What are you doing here darlin?”

Logan stiffens. The wicca’s voice is sugar sweet but there’s an undertone that makes him want to step back, leave Virgil and run, because it’s not safe, the wicca isn’t safe.

“My friend needs help.”

“Oh, you’re that blind kid. I forgot about you.” The wicca muses and Logan flinches as the steps start again, until he can feel the wicca’s breath crossing his face.

“Phantom touched, strange. He should be dead.”

“I know.” Logan’s breath hitched with an aborted sob. “I don’t want him to die.”

There’s a hand caressing his forehead and Logan’s mind feels like it’s splintering, fragmented memories belonging to the wicca making him dizzy.

“Huh. You love him.” The voice is softer now. Logan nods.

“Very well, come on, give me him and the sprites will guide you.” The wicca moves his hand from Logan’s head and they carefully transfer to holding Virgil.

Remus is almost immediately wrapped around Logan’s neck, Roman slithering up to settle across his hips and they begin to all walk again, blindly following, trusting that the wicca will figure something out.

…

October looks down at the body in his arms as they near the home. This...Virgil is smaller, looks like he’s not from the country and his fingers are greying, and October is almost worried that if he can’t revive the child, he’ll fade and become a Haunt.

They get to the door and October waves their hand to open it, the sighted child and his familiars close behind as the five of them make it to the brewing table and October gently places Virgil down.

“How long have you two known each other?”

“Six months?” Logan’s voice is shaky and October spares a glance to see that the sighted child is crying without bothering to wipe at his tears. “He survived a Kelpie as a child and I saw it when he touched me. He gets me.”

October sighed. “Fickle mortals. God, why did I decide to help?” He turned back to Virgil and didn’t see the tightening of Logan’s jaw. October pressed a finger to Virgil’s pinky and the limb dissolved.

“Oh, that’s not good.”

“What?” Logan demanded and the sprites began to nervously trill.

“Get the fire sprite to wrap around his core, the poison one around his hand where I point, okay?” October looked to Logan. “He needs warmth and we might have to use the poison to counteract the phantom touch.”

Logan nodded and he gestured in the wrong direction, but the sprites got the memo, unraveling and going to follow the wicca’s instructions.

“I’m going to give you a stool to sit on.” October waved a hand and the stool scooted across the room, gently bumping into Logan’s side. “Now keep quiet.”

Logan, bless his soul, didn’t respond. October reached for his pestle and then grabbed a quartz rock, dropping it in with a few Eurydice petals.

“So, sighted child, I assume that life has been fine, considering you’ve found a few familiars for you and your friend.”

Logan, to his credit, shrugged. October grabbed a hollyhock root and started to slice it before dumping it in the pestle.

“I need one of your hairs and some spit.”

Logan grimaced, but he pulled out a chunk of his hair and held it out, which October took and put in. He then waited for the pestle to be placed under his chin before spitting. October grinned when the mixture flashed a royal blue. He added a generous amount of beeswax, some of Virgil’s rapidly greying hair and added it, using a swab to get a minuscule amount of spit.

The mixture flashed violet, then grey, before settling on a beautiful gold color, now a paste that could easily mimic chapstick. October spread a liberal amount over Virgil’s lips, then on his arms where the grey was creeping up.

They turned to Logan.

“So, how far would you go to save your ‘friend’? Would you do anything?”

“If it was within my power, then yes.” Logan said.

October smiled. “Excellent!! You get to kiss him!” The look on Logan’s face was priceless and October cackled as he slid the pestle to Logan, so that it was touching the teen’s hands.

“Rub that on your lips and give him a smooch. It’ll probably fix it. True love and soulmates or whatever you want to call it.”

Logan dipped his hand into the pestle and drew out a bit of the paste, smearing it on his lips carefully, before standing and shuffling forward, hands guiding him. He felt the sprites, up Virgil’s neck until he was gently cupping his friend’s face. Logan took a breath and…

October wouldn’t say that it was magic, but the gentleness that Logan used when he kissed Virgil definitely seemed to be that way, even as the phantom touch receded, color returning to Virgil’s lips as he breathed in deeply. The grey half of his hair did not return to color, nor did the missing finger, but October called that a win.

“Wicca?” Logan sounded fragile and October looked at him.

“It’s October child.”

“I’m pretty sure that it’s February.” Logan shot him a glare- three feet in the wrong direction. “Did it work?”

“I know it’s Feb-- fuck it, yeah, he’ll wake in a few minutes, I’m going to transfer him to my bed, you’re both welcome to sleep there for the night, it’s a pretty big bed, I’m going to crash on the couch.” October brushed a hand to Logan’s and forced enough memories through so the sighted would be able to navigate to the nondescript bedroom in the back of the home. He then scooped up the still sleeping Virgil, sprites and all before making his way to the back and dumping Virgil on the bed.

“He needs to be constantly warm, as to not trigger any residue phantom soul. Phantoms feed off of the lonely and unloved- hence why the kiss cleared the majority.” October turned to Logan. “Cuddle him or something. I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Thank you wicca.” Logan murmured and October found himself holding an armful of sighted. “Thank you.”

“Sure, whatever. Oh, my boyfriend might be by in the morning, he’ll make sure that you and Virgil will get an actual breakfast.”

Logan let go and crawled into the bed, arms going up to wrap around Virgil, the sprites tangling themselves into the pile. All four were out within seconds and October smiled softly before shutting the door to leave them to rest.

…

Virgil woke up to see Logan's glassy eyes were open, gaze not quite staring at him, but he had a nice smile on his face.

“Hey Lo.” He croaked out and Logan closed his eyes before squeezing him softly.

“Idiot. Running off and getting phantom touched.”

“Sorry.” Virgil murmured as a cooing reached his ears. His chest heated up and he looked down to see that Roman was heating up slowly, his acid green eyes half lidded. “Hey Ro.”

The sprite coo’d again and Virgil grinned.

“They were very helpful in finding you.” Logan smiled. “And the wicca of course, we’re resting in their house.”

“Ah. That explains why this bed smells like sage and teakwood.” Virgil sniffed and wrinkled his nose. “I’m hungry.”

“The wicca’s boyfriend said he’d make us something.”

“Cool.” Virgil’s head lolled a bit and he had to force himself to stay awake. “Cool, cool.”

“You can go back to sleep Vee.” Logan whispered. “I’ll keep us safe.”

Virgil didn’t have time to respond before grey was clawing at the edge of his vision and sleep called him back, warm and safe.

…

Remy wouldn’t call himself October’s boyfriend, but hey, after three centuries of exclusively dating him, he had to guess that fine, they were dating.

Which is why he found it odd that the wicca was up early. October was a lot of things, but an early riser was not one of them.

“Babes? Please don’t tell me you pulled an all nighter.” Remy plopped a grocery bag on the kitchen counter as October rolled his eyes.

“Nah, the sighted child came around last night with a phantom touched. He’s fine now, oh, they’re soulmates btw, but they spent last night in my bed, and you know how lumpy the couch is. I didn’t get much sleep.”

Remy shook his head. “You never fail to surprise me.” He pulled out a pan and bacon, slapping it on before throwing October a look. “Can you light the stove?”

“What you can’t?”

“Please?” Remy begged and after a moment, the stove lit up. “Thank you!!”

The bacon was happily frying when he heard a sound, and as Remy looked up, he saw a limping phantom touched, the sighted one next to him, both leaning on each other, familiars winding around them like cats.

Oh, Remy really wanted to adopt these two- look at them, they were so cute with each other and the phantom touched carefully pulled out a stool, guiding the sighted one’s hand to it before finding a seat himself.

Remy pulled the bacon off and added the next slices.

“Hey boys. Sleep well?”

The sighted one shrugged. “It was adequate. I can’t speak for Virgil though.”

Ah, so the phantom touched one was Virgil. Remy nodded and filled up two water glasses from the pitcher in the fridge before sliding it to the pair. “I’m Remy. I’m sure that October told you about me Sighted, but Virgil, it’s nice to meet you.”

“Who’s October?”

“The wicca.” Remy said cheerfully. “I picked it for him after they told me about how obsessed they were with pumpkin spice.”

The Sighted snorted and Virgil let out a snicker as well.

“Our conversation makes more sense from last night.” The Sighted mused as he reached and delicately picked up his water.

“What happened Lo?” Virgil asked. “I really only remember this morning before the sun was up.”

“We kissed. Well, I kissed you, and it was only to seal the spell, so I’m sorry for not asking your consent.”

“Eh, it’s…” Virgil stopped talking.

Remy looked back to see that the teen was staring at his hand in horror.

“Logan, where’s my pinky?”

Logan looked confused. “I was unaware that you were missing a finger. Is anything else wrong?”

Virgil pulled out his phone before Remy could stop him and he dropped it once he saw his hair.

“I.. Logan--”

Virgil collapsed and Logan lunged towards the sound, but Remy was throwing out a hand and freezing the teen’s body with a minor spell.

“Sighted, don’t touch him. He’s been phantom touched and the residue shows up with strong emotions. Let me and October deal with this.”

He turned off the stove the same time that October was entering the room and the both of them carefully moved Virgil back to the brew table, where they could see that Virgil’s veins were turning grey, heart pounding loud enough that it could be heard in the quiet of the room.

“Remy, go free Logan.” October murmured as he began to mash up another concoction. “Virgil will wake in a panic, and he needs a familiar face.”
