#the entire show's premise of love is built on mutual recognition. loving someone for what you come to understand lies underneath

rewatched episode seven on the plane last night and god like straight brain worms the entire way through bc of this narrative between gijeong and mijeong as sisters like they are truly soooo alike it’s incredible. gijeong seemingly has a personality equivalent to that of a pitbull but refuses to confess to the people she likes bc she’s utterly terrified by the thought of rejection. mijeong seemingly stews and stews in her anger to the point of isolation but can hardly speak up against the people who mistreat her bc the effort of trying to make a stand for herself is exhausting. it’s fascinating the ways in which both sisters shield themselves from the world and from people despite being so resilient underneath it all and it’s what makes me appreciate that line from gu towards the end even more. you should know. yeom mijeong, you should know who you are. bc it’s never really about gijeong and mijeong or any of the characters in my liberation notes fundamentally changing as people. it’s more about the love that others have for you acting as a sort of lens through which to view all parts of yourself that are true. gijeong and mijeong have always had the capacity to be strong and to stand against the overbearing tides. but it’s when they’re loved by people and start to love themselves that they recognize what exactly it is they’re capable of. because you like me. you can do anything in front of someone who likes you. that’s why you should worship an idiot like me
