when i first started the eclipse, i remember thinking, "man, i can't wait till we get to see the sweet side of akk!" because of how serious akk was all the time. but along the way, we got to see another side of him that took me by surprise: the lighthearted, playful side of akk.

when we first meet akk in the show he was so stern and stiff-backed you'd have never realized he even had it in him to crack a joke, but the reality is that akk -- akk is playful! akk can be mischevious! akk likes being a little shit! we get brief glimpses of this side of him when he’s alone with wat and kan, but even with them he is always aware of who he is: the head prefect. he is constantly under insane amounts of pressure to meet the expectations of being the perfect leader, but in doing so, he lost the freedom to express his truest self.

like, there's a reason akk was so drawn to aye. it's the same reason akk kept coming back to aye time after time, despite fighting his own instincts tooth and nail. aye's teasing and his devil-may-care defiance and cheeky playfulness is everything akk never let himself have and everything akk is attracted to. it’s the one person around whom akk does not have to be the head prefect.

the beautiful thing is that when akk and aye are together, they both bring this quality of lightheartedness out in one another. they know exactly how to tease it out of the other, they're both very into it, and it's part of why they both fit together so well, because they both desperately need that sort of happy distraction in their own lives, for their own personal reasons.

you can especially see it in akk in the last few episodes. the more time they spend together, the more akk lets himself be the one who's playful or teasing first. one of the biggest tells that their relationship is shifting to something more is when akk begins to relax enough to tease ayan back -- not as a defense mechanism, not out of fear, but just because...it's fun. it's their thing!

in the last half of ep 12 there's no reason for akk to play hard to get anymore but he continues to do so, because it’s fun to tease aye. and aye is fully aware of what akk’s doing, but willingly plays right into it, because it’s fun for him, too. it’s like their own love language at this point. and...idk, i’m just really in love with their love

The Revolution will be Queer

And everyone has a roll to play in it.

The World Remembers are the people who cannot hide. They are the ones that will be seen if they revolt or not so they might as well fight, they have to fight, they will stand out and they will be seen and they do not have a choice in this battle. They are often the frontlines of the revolution and they must be honored.

Ayan is the leader of a revolution but he is the leader in pain and he is what happens when trauma crystalizes inside you. He is pain that turned outwards and turned against and he can lead and he has turned his screams into a battle cry and his wounds into a battlefield. His past leads him to this but also holds him back because he seeks revenge more than he seeks revolution and he may have to choose someday.

Thua is the one who can hide, the one who can be neutral, the one who is afraid of his voice and wants to live a peaceful life but also sees the ones who cannot and hurts. Thua is the one reluctant to join the fight, with a whisper in his voice, but he is also the one who will join the fight in the end, who will find his strength and find his noise,

Akk is the one who questions himself, the one with a spark to light or to smother. He is the one unsure, the one who starts off hostile but asks questions and learns answers and discovers himself. He is the one that stands in the past but is brought into the future by the one who lights his spark, who brings him out of the darkness, who shows him the beauty and the pain of the world that he must learn to fight.

Kan is the one who hurts and lashes out and represses himself for the sake of old laws and older traditions. He is the one that fears the change and fears a future different than what he knows and will hurt himself to keep those in power in power because he doesn't know what else will change. He is the one the revolution helps the most because the tradition must change for him to change, for him to grow. Kan is the one who fights the revolution in fear but will find acceptance if he can only open his eyes.

And they are all needed.

We need the ones who can hide and the ones who can lead and the ones who support and the ones who can be found and the ones who hurt. We need them all because the revolution is queer and the revolution is for all of them, even the ones who seems to take the other side. We may fight them in the moment but we also fight for them.

The revolution will be queer.

For everyone saying that the end of episode 11 doesn’t tonally make sense… I disagree.

Because everything is out there now, there are no more secrets among these boys. Yes they were incredibly angry at first, rightfully so, everyone kept secrets and everyone ended up getting hurt… but do you realize what happens when you release something you’ve been hanging on to for a very long time? When everyone finally knows about the one thing you’ve been keeping quiet, regardless of how much you’ve been crushed under it’s weight?

You feel relief.

These boys… they can finally BREATH. Probably for truly the first time in years.

Yes there will be the aftermath, but for now… for now the storm has passed… and there’s a moment of calm.

The student film isn’t just some silly side plot thrown in. It’s legitimately Wats way of helping Akk and Ayan, it’s giving them an excuse for their actions. You can see even when they’re doing their little planning Akk is still incredibly scared of the idea of publicly coming out, he’s in no way ready. So this gives them an out… and it also serves as a distraction… it gives these boys a reason to laugh and have some fun.

Because despite everything, despite all the shit, you need to remember these boys are still best friends and they’re also still kids. And the thing about kids? Kids are resilient. The easy option would be to give up. To lay down and be crushed under the weight of everything that’s happened… but these kids are brave. And the brave option, is to just keep living.

I’m so sorry but I 100% would’ve knocked Thua’s teeth in. I just cannot get over him just airing out Akk and aye’s relationship. I want Kan to walk back into Cafe for All with Thua and hold his hand without panic in his eyes and for Thua to smile at him as he places a softly spoken order and squeezes their hands together.

I want Thua to walk into Cafe for All with Kan trailing behind him and to order for both of them and then grab his elbow to pull him to a table and for neither of them to be afraid of anything.
