Gideon Taaffe and Charis Hoard at MMFA:
Instead of celebrating the rising influence of women’s basketball, right-wing media seized on the highly anticipated draft to attack the WNBA and dismiss the low wages of some of basketball’s biggest stars.  After a historic women’s NCAA tournament, the Women’s National Basketball Association draft drew substantial media attention both praising the rising influence of the league and criticizing the low wages of the league’s stars. Right-wing media chose to denigrate the sport and its players rather than engage with critiques of how women athletes are treated.
With the WNBA's popularity surging due to several college megastars such as Caitlin Clark being drafted, right-wing media launched unhinged sexist attacks against the league (and women's sports in general). These same people attacking the WNBA and women's sports launch attacks against trans women participating in women's sports under the purported guise of "saving women's sports."

so it turns out the daily wire show, which is a conservative youtube channel are making a new version of snow white. it will have politics and conservative views in it.
I saw that! I’m learning that movies should communicate values; the studios making them should let those movies speak the values for themselves.
Example: one of my friends was shown a screening of Zootopia while it was still in development and he said that the Disney execs working on it introduced the clips like “check out this movie we’re making! It will have amazing worlds designed totally by animals, for animals.” And all the scenes were of animal puns and chases through the mice town, et cetera.
Tumblr media
Now, we know that Zootopia’s values and themes are all about trying to make the world a better place, and racism, and how everyone actually has a lot in common. But none of the trailers or promotional material made that the sole focus. It was more about how the world was entirely “animal.”
Everybody likes animals. Everybody is likely to have very little problem with going to see a movie about animals. Left or right, liberal or conservative, they’ll go see a story about animals. And the they’ll let their “guard” down. And they’ll be open to learn what the story has to say about what might otherwise be considered “political.”
But if Disney had come out and said (like they do in a lot of their promotional stuff for new movies like Snow White) that the movie was ABOUT racism, or sexism, or oppression, less people would have given it a chance. Only people who agree with Disney’s views on racism would have gone to see the movie; and they would have done it without objectivity, because they would’ve walked in, ready to champion a movie that represents their values, no matter how good or bad the movie actually was.
The problem with Daily Wire’s Snow White is that it is so obviously a political move, or a swipe at Disney, or a swipe at “woke” values. It is being made to do that, or it will be associated with that, no matter what. So people who think poorly of Daily Wire will not go see this movie, unless it’s to hate-review it, because they know it’s made by Daily Wire. The movie isn’t allowed to speak for itself.
That’s the problem. The stories are becoming all representation of politics and sides, and no genuine communication.
The whole point of a movie is to convince people of a truth statement. The story of Snow White should say “Innocent love is valuable.” It should not say, “I believe that innocent love is valuable.”
See the difference?
The first example of a statement is about the value. The second statement is about the person making the statement about the value. One is virtue-signaling, and here’s-the-side-I’m-on. The other is simply a demonstration of truth, regardless of who’s side you’re on.
Tumblr media
Nobody who is liberal or left-leaning or just plain doesn’t like the Daily Wire will go and see their Snow White in good faith. Instead, they’ve probably pushed liberal people toward the Disney version, out of a desire to demonstrate who’s “side” they’re on. Just like nobody who is conservative or right-leaning will go see the new Disney Snow White in good faith. Instead, Disney’s pushed conservative people toward the Daily Wire version.
Cuz it’s not about the story anymore. It’s not a story. It’s just an obnoxious political flag to rally under.
Stories are supposed to be HOW you open your mouth and talk about values. Whether it’s through your company’s press or the trailers or whatever, you’re not supposed to say what the story is really about; it’s supposed to say that for itself.
It’s like saying, “Snow White, tell everyone here your name!” Well, why? You just gave it away. Now nobody cares what Snow White has to say.

If you don't take the impacts of people like Jordan Peterson or Ben Sharpiro seriously and just brush them off as (the) idiots (they are)
Long read about Jordan Peterson and how his meatriders behave.
You should still take them seriously as a threat.
A peer of mine was going on about how women are chosing the wrong path. I asked him what path he thought was the wrong one, knowing it'd be your standard woman hating nonsense. Which it was. He said that women not getting married or having children was "the wrong path."
I told him that generally childless single women are the happier demographic. He laughed and asked for a source. I didn't have an answer because MULTIPLE sources say that. Literally all you have to do is like.. Search it up and most of the sources say this.
I asked him HIS source, to which he said Jordan Peterson.
I told him it was foolish to take the word of just one man. A man who almost had his license revoked nonetheless, but I did not bring up that part.
He said that just because I didn't like him for a reason apparently I didn't understand (???) that doesn't discredit him.
So not only are Peterson fanboys taking everything he says seriously, but they don't even GOOGLE what he says. This guy is literally obsessed with JP and takes him very seriously. He also fits the "troubled young man without a father" mold too.
JP is so fucking evil praying on vulnerable young men like this, and his peers do it too.

Today, American shock jock pundit Candace Owens was fired from The Daily Wire, not because of her comments about American military support for Israel, as many will claim, but her consistent habit of parroting the antisemitic narratives of her friend Kanye West back in 2022.
It was these remarks, her recent endorsement of antisemitic remarks on Twitter, and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach's threat of a lawsuit that would involve The Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro that caused the company, including her former defender CEO Jeremy Boreing, to terminate her contract.
Full details in the article above.

Do I think that The Daily Wire's cheap attempt at a "Snow White" movie is going to be a groundbreaking piece of cinema? No.
Do I think it'll be better than the Disney live-action remake with the $250 million budget? Yes, obviously.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville has been handing over the complete medical records of transgender patients to Tennessee’s attorney general, the center confirmed Tuesday.
The revelation has caused panic among the center’s trans patients, especially since the state recently passed a ban on gender-affirming healthcare for transgender youth. The ban requires youth who are currently receiving such care to de-transition.
“VUMC received requests from the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General as part of its investigation seeking information about transgender care at VUMC,” John Howser, VUMC’s chief communications officer, said in a statement.
“The Tennessee Attorney General has legal authority in an investigation to require that VUMC provide complete copies of patient medical records that are relevant to its investigation. VUMC was obligated to comply and did so,” Howser added.
The Vanderbilt University-associated facility has been under scrutiny by the state since right-wing troll Matt Walsh targeted the medical center last September in his crusade against gender-affirming healthcare.
In a September 2022 Twitter thread, Walsh claimed that the staff at VUMC’s Transgender Health Clinic “now castrate, sterilize, and mutilate minors as well as adults, while apparently taking steps to hide this activity from the public view.”
Walsh criticized the clinic’s Trans Buddy program – which offers peer support to patients – and repeatedly accused the medical staff of “drugging and sterilizing” kids for financial gain.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) followed Walsh’s lead and called for an investigation.
“The ‘pediatric transgender clinic’ at Vanderbilt University Medical Center raises serious moral, ethical and legal concerns,” the Governor said in September. “We should not allow permanent, life-altering decisions that hurt children or policies that suppress religious liberties, all for the purpose of financial gain. We have to protect Tennessee children, and this warrants a thorough investigation.”
The state’s Attorney General, Jonathan Skrmetti, complied.
Skrmetti’s office characterizes the ongoing probe as a simple billing inquiry.
“We are surprised that VUMC has deliberately chosen to frighten its patients like this,” AG Chief of Staff Brandon Smith said in a statement shared with The Tennessean Tuesday.
“The Office does not publicize fraud investigations to preserve the integrity of the investigative process,” Smith continued. “The Office maintains patient records in the strictest confidence, as required by law. The investigation is focused solely on VUMC and certain related providers, not patients, as VUMC is well aware.”
Court records reveal state officials have sought the medical records of specific patients, messages sent and received from a general LGBTQ+ health program email address, and the names of individuals referred to Vanderbilt’s transgender clinic.
Chris Sanders, executive director of the Tennessee Equality Project, said that parents of three different trans children have called him in a panic since the revelation.
“They’re terrified,” said Sanders. “They don’t know what’s next. They don’t know how this will be used, or whether they will be targeted in some way. They feel like their privacy has been violated.”

Matt Walsh Wrongly Calls Out Someone Who's Ace
So, ever since last month, I've been a bit heated about Matt Walsh making a video on (or close to) Valentine's Day putting down an asexual girl briefly speaking in an article about what she enjoys doing on Valentine's Day for herself. Listen, I'm heated about most things this man says and how hateful he is, especially towards anyone - mainly us trans folks - in the LGBT+ community. But the fact that he constantly says how we sexualize so many other people and things yet completely contradicts his usual narrative by insulting someone who isn't even interested in sex just really struck an extra nerve.
I was happy to see The Queer Kiwi and Annamarie Forcino recently call him out on this video, but I wanted to bring some more attention to it, speaking from my own experience as an aro-ace person and what I've learned. I feel like there's hardly ever enough light shined on aro-ace folks, but we certainly didn't deserve a negative light shined on us by Matt Walsh, one of the most massive bigots out there.
Touching on Demi Romantics/Sexuals
So Matt had read direct definitions about being asexual and aromantic, and one of the sub-labels that was defined within that definition was demisexuality and demiromanticism. Of course Matt had to make a comment about this, saying how making a friend and falling in love with them is a normal person's emotions and experience.
However, I will say I do understand where that misguidance comes from, considering it's what I originally thought too when trying to gain an understanding of demisexuality (even Annamarie expressed this misunderstanding in her video, too). So let me just give a breakdown on why this is a common notion amongst people who don't fully understand demisexuality/demiromanticism:
It's a very common plot in fictional romance for two people who are already friends (or who develop a friendship) to fall in love with each other. And naturally, when people think of a common romance story, they think of that plot and/or maybe it's something they themselves have experienced or want to experience. So, they think just about everyone else also feels that way or has had that same/similar experience. But, the truth of the matter is, that's not necessarily what everyone wants and/or has and most importantly, it's not something allo folks need to build a relationship.
Lemme explain. For allo people, it can be a want but it's not a needed thing in order for them to simply develop any sort of romantic and/or sexual attraction to someone. That's the biggest thing. Demisexual and demiromantic people absolutely need that deep platonic connection with someone in order to develop that desire for a romantic relationship or sex life with them.
A lot of allo people are able to look at someone or know someone for a very short span of time, and desire that sexual and/or romantic relationship with them, feel that attraction to them without knowing them well. That isn't something that happens for demi rom/sexual people.
Asexual people aren't miserable & narcissistic
Matt talks about how ace people live sad, pathetic lives just because they're don't want sex and, are making up a label just to mask their low libido or want for sex but not getting it and to feel good about themselves since they're narcissists.
Man, that is one of the stupidest things I think I've ever heard. Asexuals don't necessarily need to experience sex to be happy, hence why they're asexuals. Also, that is exactly what Odel Pax is trying to get across in the article - she's asexual but that doesn't wreck her Valentine's Day.
Also, I feel like the word "narcissist" gets tossed around so much without fully understanding how serious of a term it is and what actual signs of being a narcissist are. For instance, a very big sign of a narcissist is having a strong disregard for other's emotions and having no problem manipulating their emotion's for their own personal gain. That's not what LGBT+ people do. They're just trying to live their lives and shine a spotlight on their identity to bring awareness about what they experience in hopes of helping and educating others.
Matt often tries to say that people in the LGBT+ community are narcissists because they're "entitled" and all they want is attention yet can't take harsh feedback, when that's not the case at all considering so many bigots - like him - say such foul things about them and make them more oppressed. Like, why would anyone want that? Why would anyone fake being queer for attention when half of it is extremely negative attention that includes threats? Yet here he is saying they're the least oppressed people to walk this earth.
Also, sexual attraction and libido are not the same thing. Libido is someone's sex drive; that natural bodily sense of needing that pleasure that sex gives. Sexual attraction mainly refers to that want for sex, especially with another person. For instance, in my own experience, sometimes I do have that bit of a sex drive because it's something my body naturally sees as a need but do I often feel a sexual attraction? No, not really. Having actual sex with someone isn't something I enjoy much at all, and I often don't feel sexually attracted to others. But, seeing as how this is something I can't control - I've just always been this way - I'm asexual. It's not a chosen thing or something I see as made up when it's an actual emotion I feel and have no control over.
I think a decent analogy for what I said is when you need a drink after a run you just went on. Your body needs the fluid but someone only has a drink for you that you don't like. However, it's all you have and it's still a drink. So you still drink it even though you don't really like the taste. That's what it's like when your libido increases but you're on the ace-spec. (Also, just to clarify, just because someone's libido has risen doesn't mean they necessarily want to or feel comfortable satisfying that need/craving).
Romantic Attraction & Sexual Attraction are different
I feel like this isn't hard to understand. Matt says these two are "synonymous" but they aren't. There's a reason why I've been separating the words aromantic and asexual throughout this breakdown of his video - because they're different. You aren't romantically attracted to every person you're sexually attracted to, and vice versa. This applies to people who aren't even on the a-spec. Annamarie explains this is her video, too. I too do not get how Matt doesn't understand this concept.
He also states that when you tell someone you want to date them but don't want sex with them you have given them no useful information. Like what. That's directly explaining that you are romantically attracted to this person but not sexually attracted. Not all relationships involve sex nor need to. You don't have to have sex with someone to love them or vice versa.
Conclusion
Matt Walsh as usual calls someone out who he doesn't understand and doesn't make the effort to understand. He wrongly stated things about an asexual person and said they're not asexual - those aren't facts, that's just him making things up and spewing his own opinion.
Matt doesn't care about the LGBT+ community and he'll keep stating all these wrong, made up things about us. He's not smart, he's hateful, so don't let him tell you who you are.
I'm always glad to advocate for my community. I wanted to call him out and properly explain things on the a-spec. I'd love to do posts about his terrible opinions on trans people and other gay people, but that would take a very long time seeing as how he targets them even more than the aro-ace community within the LGBT+ community.

The term “unskilled labor” is kinda bullshit. Most jobs require some sort of skill to get done right. The only job that doesn’t require any sort of skill is conservative media personality.
Seriously, say what will you will about junk food, but people still got to eat. What purpose do people like Ben Shapiro, Dennis Prager and Charlie Kirk offer exactly? Just look at their most recent videos up above. Are you telling me that their content benefits society in any way whatsoever? The average McDonald’s worker offers more to society than literally every single Republican talking head with a YouTube channel.
Anyway, point is, the American worker should be properly compensated. Raise the minimum wage.
