“Jake, I don’t know about it,” but before Buck can continue to think of the reason why he can’t come to San-Diego, Jake already speaks.

“Listen here, Buckley. We have tried to get together for the last four years after I was in LA for three days to congratulate you on ending your probation year. I literally now live in the city in 3 hours drive from LA. And you died six months ago before it happened,” Jake is silent for a second, but Buck hears how he takes deep breath to take himself back together. Hearing how his death affected even his friends out of LA make him bite his lip so as not to cry. Painful reminder he should keep trying harder on therapy, should try to get better to help his family heal too. “So I’m not asking. You are bringing your pretty ass to San-Diego. I might even help to heal your heart after the recent break up with what is her name?”

“Natalia. And there’s nothing to heal,” Buck for a second considers if he should tell Jake the whole truth about the break up or not, but really he needs a friend and there is no one better to talk about Eddie because Jake is Buck’s only friend. Not Eddie’s found family too. “I broke up with her because I understood I’m in love with…” Buck takes a deep breath getting ready to say it for the first time to someone who is not Dr. Copeland, but Jake does it first.

“Eddie.”

The way the name of his best friend so easily slips from Jake’s mouth leaves Buck speechless with just one question which he almost scream.

“H-HOW?!”

“You talk about the guy all the time. You raise his, no, not his, his and yours son together. You talk about him like he put the sun, moon and stars in the sky. It was so easy,”Buck hears how Jake rolls his beautiful green eyes and he hopes the man feels how he shows him finger. “Do not show me finger, sweetheart. You know I’m right. I’m more shocked no one called you on this definitely not little crush on your hot bestie before me. And they see you two together.”

“Like no one calls you on your homoerotic comments about Rooster? Or how now do you want dick measure with the man not in figurative but real meaning?” Buck smirks when he hears how Jake tries to say something to deny it, but fails.

“How?”

Grinning, Buck takes a deep breath and perfectly repeating Jack's intonation begins to quote.

“Oh, Buck, Rooster is so cocky I hate his guts. Oh, Buck, this man irritates me so much I want to send him on fire. Buck, I saved this asshole today and we shook hands and I think we are going to be friends soon. Sweetheart, you will not believe who asked me about beer in Hard Deck without the team. Fuck, Buck Rooster abs somehow better than mine and it’s… irritates me so much,” Buck laughs remembering how the last part was said more like I-want-to-fuck-him and not this-guy-is-hotter-than-me-and-I'm-jealous. Buck knows the difference too well. He was friends with it for a moment. “I always feel like you would jump his bones the next time you see the man.”

“Said you”

“Touche.”

Oh, hmm. I try to give all my fics a somewhat happy ending. I guess my blood is singing with your voice, which is my Midsommar au...I think you can guess how that ends.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think that museum will probably win this once it's finished, but for now I would say I Knew Your Love Before I Knew Your Name and You Grew Tall (I Stayed The Same).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

So far no. I have received some weird feedback before, but nothing hateful.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

hahaha Listen. When I started writing fic I was like "I will never write smut, it's too hard to do it right." and then the first fic I published was my original hatefuck fic. 🤷 In fact, I think I'm best known for my Hatefuck Extended Universe series.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I have not, I don't really think it's for me.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of. Like Lynx said, I think there are a lot of themes and motifs that float around the fandom so inevitably you're going to find something that is similar to yours. I have had people reach out and ask if they can write something inspired by my fic or like, with a similar theme (murder husbands) and I really appreciated the asking.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not yet! I don't know how I feel about it...there's no way for me to ensure that they have kept the story the same, ya know? I guess it would be a case by case basis.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

B, Kels and I started a sort of Miami Vice AU, but it sort of fell to the side. It was fun to collaborate, but we collaborate on every fic we write anyways, so.

In general, I don't think I'm the right person to co-write with because my muse is so fickle and comes and goes. I wouldn't want to let anyone down.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Wolfstar at the moment! I will always be an everlark shipper though.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I have had a wolfstar girldads au sitting in my notes app forever and I would love to write it, but the muse never sticks around for long. I also have a soulmate au that I started but will likely never finish. I think my take is unique, but I've just never been able to figure out how I could make it work.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Oh, I guess I have a really good grasp on the characters I'm trying to write, and I think I'm also good at humour. Also if you need a flowery metaphor, I'm your girl.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

World building. I'm just incredibly lazy and not that imaginative. I also have terrible grammar. I use em-dashes to hide that fact that I have no idea how to correctly use a semi-colon.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I mean I would do it, but only if I had a friend who could proof-read for me. The last thing I want to do is write something in another language that takes a native speaker out of the fic entirely.

The title of my fic In ár gCroíthe go deo is Irish, but it's also a song title from Fontaines DC so I didn't have to worry about that so much.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

This one! Marauders. I've only been writing since April.

1, How many works do you have?

I only have 12 posted for now mainly cause I’ve been struggling to finish fics but I PROMISE I have a TON of content when I get around to finishing them :)

2, Ao3 word count?

94,524 lmao 😭 didn’t think it’d be that much with only 12 fics considering most are only around 1-4k in length with the occasional 6k (with 28-29k from my two multi chapter fics)

3, What fandoms do you write for?

Resident evil mostly, with the occasional genshin thrown in :)

Not at all the time!!!! 90% of the time I don’t know how to reply but TRUST I see EVERY SINGLE ONE <333 I may not respond but I can guarantee I’m probably giggling like a kid over it

6, What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’m gonna have to say Love Me Like We Have It All on this one, while one fic has canonical character death in it, I’d still say this one is more angsty cause the other one is grief focused and this one is just ouchie at least to me!!

7, What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

It’s gonna be We’ll Be Alright but it’s still a W.I.P so I’ll say my re4r rewrite (It Starts With Love (And It Ends With You)) has the happiest ending instead lmao

8, Do you get hate on fics?

Surprisingly no! Even when I wrote trans luis sex I’ve gotten nothing but support lol. One day though I’ll get to frame my first hate comment 🙏

9, Do you write smut?

Who do you think I am? Of course I do lmao. My only two published/finished nsfw fics are Blissful Body Worship and Tension, but I do have an re6 serennedy smut in the works along with a Great Gatsby x Serennedy au smut (same with some scaraxiao smut)

10, Crossovers?

Never done one, never plan too 🙏 I’ve made aus and such (points at my great gatsby x resident evil au) but i’ve never done crossovers nor plan too. Too much headache for me lmao

My mermaid au that was supposed to be for @hamartia-grander’s serennedy week :(

I lost so much motivation during that time and despite being SO excited about my mermaid au I just couldn’t push myself to finish it and whenever I go back to try and finish it my mind blanks on where I wanna take the fic :(

Really sucks cause I adored the concept and my initial thoughts for the AU

I have. No fucking idea my friends can answer this one for me they read my fics before BAKCNSKC

Not knowing when it’s.. too many words. Or too little words 😓

I love have long descriptions cause they’re fun to write but I’ve been told it gets too much, but I also get told if I don’t write descriptions and such it makes it feel too short

So I struggle to find a medium if that makes sense

18, Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

I’m learning Spanish for this exact reason :) I love having Luis speak Spanish in my fics so I’m learning both to better write it and to be able to communicate with my friends easier!

Not to toot my own horn but my current favorite fic is my how to train your dragon x resident evil au :) it’s a wip right now, and might even turn into a multi-chapter fic who knows! But so far I’m really proud with what I’ve got going!

so i love angst with my whole heart but i prefer to write happy endings. i think the fic with the angiest ending is probably It's a Promise, since it ends with Zeke walking away and Tina still with Jordan.

Things You Said: When We Were the Happiest We Ever Were. it's so disgustingly cheesy and i love it. <3 can't wait to make it canon in the Baby Steps verse :3

outside of Baby Steps (lil too obvious lol), Safe and Sound. i'm so proud of this fic and i think about it all the time. i pumped out over 30k words in under a week and it combines my OTP with a world i love with my whole heart. plus i'm pretty sure it's the first Hunger Games au in the fandom (if i'm wrong please let me know).

I stole this from @runicmagitek so thank you! I'm not going to tag anyone specifically, but I know I have a number of talented fic-writing mutuals, so take a stab at this if you want to.

I'm going to include original fiction in a few places, as well as all my fics currently posted to FFN, just so we have more data to work with.

How many works do you have on AO3?

FFN (assuming their word counter is still functional, which is perhaps foolish of me): 601436

What fandoms do you write for? Tales of the Abyss, Transistor, and Fate most recently. In the past, Persona, Suikoden, Harry Potter, Soul Nomad, Makai Kingdom, Yggdra Union, Wild Arms, and some assorted others.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? (Including FFN's faves):

363 – Birds (Harry Potter)

333 – Death and Ker (Persona 3)

182 – Elysion (Persona 3 & 4)

180 – Word on the Inside (Persona 4)

122 – Crime and Creme Brulee (Persona 4)

All on FFN! These are all very old fics, and I think I'll need a good long while before I get numbers like that on AO3.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Generally, yes. I like to let the reader know I'm aware of them and appreciate them leaving their thoughts, because readers who do want to comment are a minority. As for situations where I wouldn't, I'd probably ignore a flame. Or if a person leaves a bunch of comments at once, I might not respond to each individually. Or if someone left something without much context, like “huh” or “wow”, I might have no idea how to respond and just leave it.

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hm, it could depend. Anyone who's reading Scarlet has probably already played Yggdra Union and knows we're going to end with our fourteen-year-old heroine falling in battle while desperately defending her kingdom. “Misbegotten” focuses on the Demon Path of Soul Nomad, so, again, you'd go into that with a certain expectation of angst. So I think my ending that combines the most angst with surprise is the ending of “Cycles”, a Normal Path Soul Nomad fic where I decided to explore the game's concept of reincarnation. So someone dies at the end, very abruptly and somewhat graphically. The fact that I let Gig and Revya be married in it adds to the angst. Looking back more than ten years, yeah, it's very angsty, but I got some good feedback for it, so I don't regret it.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? On the subject of happy endings, I've been accused of not liking them. I love happy endings! But I do live in some dread of things feeling too pat and “wrapped up with a bow”. A lot of my oneshots are fairly low stakes, so the endings are happy enough, but looking at my longer stuff... Soul Searching ends with Gig and Revya getting married, the world being at peace, everything on a pretty happy note. (Unless you count the tragedy of Danette eating all of Gig's and Revya's hotpods, and, honestly, you should.)

Do you get hate on fics? I've never gotten seriously flamed so far. In the early 2010s, there was this one anon going through Persona fics and leaving very short flames on MinakoxShinjiro stuff, barely changing their wording at all. It was extremely low effort, impersonal, and I don't really count it.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? No, I wouldn't say so. When it comes to sex, I tend to focus more on a few individual details than a moment-to-moment description, and then the reader can fill in what they're comfortable with. With my latest original project (not Eola), I did get the threshold moment of my mom reading the draft and saying, “You write sex really well!”

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Okay, so when I was much younger, in the early 2000s, I had this long-running thing I wrote that I ended up calling “Kuja's Coffee-Bean Cafe”. Basically, it was a crossover of every video game I'd played at the time, where Kuja from Final Fantasy 9 ran a restaurant where all the various villains gather and have their own hierarchy and petty infighting and shenanigans. Some good guys are allowed to visit, and some of them have been captured for the villains' amusement, and all of it was played for humor. Trust me when I tell you that it was very funny to me at the time and it does not hold up. (Though it did make me speculatively ship Sephiroth and Celes, and I still think that ship has merit...) Since then, I do still sometimes write crossovers, but they're for my own amusement.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Last year (I think?) there was a post going around about how a lesser-known fan archive was grabbing stuff from FFN and AO3...but I honestly don't remember whether any of my fics were affected.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope, not that I know of.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? My best friend and I came up with a Lion King sequel which I then wrote down. Some years later, me and the same friend wrote two original novellas together. For the first one, one of us would write a paragraph or two, and then the other would take over, and it built from there. For the second one (which we never finished), we each controlled a main character, so we would switch off for dialogue and individual actions, but otherwise we shared the rest of the story. It worked pretty well, and if you have a writing buddy whose style works with yours, I highly recommend it.

What's your all-time favorite ship? I'm not sure I have a mathematically favorite ship versus whatever ship I'm currently most focused on. In 2019, it was Red and Boxer from Transistor. Last year, it was Asch and Natalia from Tales of the Abyss. Right now, I've been swinging back towards Archer and Hakuno from Fate.

What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I've always been sad I never finished Public Speaking, my Suikoden V longfic about super minor npc Salisha Raulbel and what she thought of the war. It was very niche, but readers still found it and enjoyed it. I hung with it for two years, between 2006-08, but a lot was happening in my life, I was changing as a person, I was getting into new fandoms, and I couldn't maintain my interest; I also abandoned another long Suikoden fic and an original novel during that period. What's even worse was that the fic was over halfway done, and for a couple years afterwards, I would get comments asking for an update. I think that's part of why I now never start posting fics until I've completed at least one draft. Do I think I'll pull one of those 10+ Years Later updates? Probably not. But it was a good fic, and I'm sorry I left people hanging.

What are your writing strengths? I'm told my dialogue and descriptions are good. People also seem to respond well to my emotional scenes. And of course on my next book I'm going to put this right on the cover:

“She writes sex well!” – Her Mom

What are your writing weaknesses? Having just praised my dialogue, I'll admit I have a problem with slowing down dialogue to add too much physical communication – compressed lips, narrowed eyes, raised eyebrows. I know it can start to feel ridiculous, but I want you all to see the scene I'm seeing and I can't very well hire actors. I also feel like my fight scenes aren't the greatest; I find them a pain to write. Probably a byproduct of not running around the wilderness with a sword myself. I also, no matter how hard I try, fall prey to typos. I'm pretty good at editing other people's work, but my own writing is a whole 'nother animal.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I think it's a case by case thing. In general though, it can be overdone, especially if the author is, say, writing a character who's speaking in Spanish, but they keep having the character saying “I'm going to do my tarea” or “I need to go to la escuela!” when just saying “homework” and “school” flows so much more naturally. On the other hand, language is culture and character and history – using some of it can be very helpful in establishing setting and even time period. It also changes depending on how tightly we're in a character's pov. If we're right in the protagonist's head, and my hero doesn't speak French, and they overhear a spy saying, “J'ai volé le lapin sacré!" the meaning should remain a mystery. I shouldn't have the translation provided in a footnote or a parenthetical. On the other hand, if the pov is more pulled back and omniscient, then the author can translate it while reminding the reader the hero didn't understand it.

Overall, when it comes to using other languages, I think you need to keep the reader's needs in mind. If you want to throw out foreign phrases for a bit of flair, go for it, but limit it to phrases that aren't crucial to understanding the scene or story. Otherwise, you need to find a way to elegantly explain what's being said, without making it feel like a footnote. Something like that just breaks the immersive feeling of reading.

First fandom you wrote for? Probably that Lion King story. It was called The Lion King IV: The Revenge of Scar. There was a) no Lion King III and b) no Scar. I called it that because it took place three generations after the original (because that's how titles work), and Scar apparently had such a long con going he'd foreseen the actions of future evil lion villains who'd never even met him.

Favorite fic you've ever written? I'm going to repeat what I said on this post – The Beast in the Dark, the third installment of my unposted Fate trilogy. All three fics were written with the intention that I wouldn't be sharing them. That's also true of the Muse Trilogy and all my recent Tales of the Abyss stuff, but the Fate stuff was at a somewhat sadder, lonelier period in my life. I think that's one reason it's so special to me. Also, like I say in the linked post, because I wasn't going to share it, I allowed myself to throw all sorts of over the top tropes at it. I think it really helped me along in my writing, and, arguably, opening it up for public consumption might mess with how I feel about it. We'll see. I'm still not sure about posting it.

When it comes to fics I have posted though, I'll refer back to the same post and say Death and Ker. It was a fic that was really exciting both to write and post, right as Persona 3: Portable was coming out. I feel a lot of nostalgia for it, and while it's not perfect, I think parts of it still hold up.

Tangled Alma stared at the ground avoiding eye contact with just about everyone as she fiddled with her hands. Her eyes darted around, from her three kids to the other surrounding people. They look like either her or her children, or her grandchildren, she assumed. She wasn't worried about the non humans so much as she was how many were in the room.

"So...how long were you in that tower?" Protective Alma asked she as readjusted her hold on little jaguar Antonio.

Tangled Alma looked up quickly avoided eye contact again. "Um..eight..." Alma mumbled the rest and no one quite caught what she said.

"8 years?" Cocoomed said with worry, moving to stand.

"Eight...teen," Tangled said louder, dragging out the last word.

"What?!" Every in the room yelled in surprise and the long haired Alma jumped before hiding in her hair.

"I'm sorry...did you say 18?" Koopa looked down, face filled with shock.

"Yes...I...didn't see the need to leave. And mi niños seemed happy, I mean I never stopped them from going out. They even met some people," Tangled said from behind her hair before showing her face. "I...didn't leave, I couldn't bring myself to, I was just too scared."

"But wasn't it lonely?" One of the smaller Mirabels asked.

Crystal Leww: Earlier this year Tinashe was playing Knockdown Center in New York and a friend of mine tweeted that tickets were $5. I really did check because it did seem like a believable reality at the time which is really all you need to know about whatever is happening with Tinashe in the year of our lord 2023. [3]

Ian Mathers: I don't have, like, a list but I suspect/dimly remember that there's at least a microgenre of sex jams with videos set in innocuous backdrops like the grocery store found here. But I don't recall any of them seeming like they had quite as much fun there as Tinashe and her dancers do; fitting enough for a song that doesn't do anything particularly novel but does it all with such frank matter-of-factness and confidence that it feels fresh. [8]

Frank Falisi: How can you tell that a singer is a good dancer? I think maybe it's in the voice. I think maybe a voice is a thing that can be wielded and conceived of as entering a physical space like any other limb. I think maybe Tinashe proves that. "Needs" is a paean to get and give that puts the pleading back in pop music, an apparatus that approximates us by asking to take up our time and space for three minutes or less or so. Crucially, Tinashe's voice choreographs that approximation in terms of necessity instead of luxury: everything here is just plain simple needs, like breathing and being. The voice prepares a body for wanting. It clips and jabs, wups and garbles life. There's a pitch shift here in the first minute or so that feels like a somersaulting step, like the total inversion a beloved can inflict on a body. It makes me gasp, which makes me aware of my voice. It puts us head over heels, moved and moving. [8]

Wayne Weizhen Zhang: Tinashe running around grocery store aisles with a turkey pan on her head, Tinashe wearing deli meat as an outfit, Tinashe twerking on top of containers of nuts, Tinashe riding in a grocery store cart. The "Needs" music video is an instant classic for the same reason the song slaps: it's effortless and clean and simple, but doesn't take itself too seriously. This is the type of cool that enjoys itself, the kind that's unconcerned with anything but having a good time. [8]

Leah Isobel: What does Tinashe have left to prove? Songs For You demonstrated that she can make creatively satisfying crossover pop without a major label; 333 was an ebullient victory lap that pushed her art outward in all directions, uniting her most experimental tendencies and her most down-the-middle melodies behind her star presence. She could fuck off for, like, five years and still have people (me) frothing at the mouth for her return. But of course, the industry doesn't work like that: if your job is to make music and perform, you have to keep clocking in. "Needs" finds a way to make those obligations both transparent and irrelevant; "They ain't never seen moves like these," she sings, as if she's still a new artist, as if there isn't ample evidence of her staggering physical skills. It's branding as much as it's boasting. But we -- I -- come to Tinashe for that outsized confidence, the easy bravado masking tremendous effort. And "Needs" still delivers where it counts, with a warm bath of a chorus that stretches on and on and on. Even when she's just punching the clock, she's generous. [7]

Daniel Montesinos-Donaghy: It's great when Tinashe gets silly, something that was in short supply during her embargo at RCA, where she square-peg-round-holed into trends or pushed onwards with her gothic mumblings. Her most recent album, BB/ANG3L, could do with a few more athletic sex-comedy routines like "Needs." Over queasy West Coast keys, Tinashe's filtrated voices bawdily narrates a hook-up, where there's teasing and power-play but no humiliation. It's all very silly and rather human: "I'm just human, we all got needs," she lilts in the warmest of shrugs, like it's really that easy. [9]

Alex Ostroff: A decade on from Tinashe's initial mixtapes -- which were heralded as the emergence of a talented new left-of-centre voice in R&B who was just a little too vibey and ethereal and uninterested in big shiny hooks to take over the mainstream -- Tinashe has returned to that position, following a brief detour into the world of major labels that tried to DJ Mustard her way into pop hits. She's made two compelling albums since going independent again that mostly exist in her midtempo R&B comfort zone. "Needs" exists in the same space, but feels slight and tossed off. It's catchy enough that it only took 2 or 3 listens before "peaches, banaaaaaanas" was permanently embedded in my brain, but by its nature its pleasant, wispy and low-stakes. [6]

Katherine St Asaph: I've always heard an empty sadness beneath Tinashe's singles, even the ones (which is most of the big ones) that aren't meant to be. "Needs" is supposedly gleeful -- watch Tinashe grin all throughout the strip-club Supermarket Sweep video. But its musical palette is all resignation: vacant handclaps, synths flickering in and out like the lighting of an abandoned floor, minor-key melody delivered with almost no flirtation or embellishment, like the checked-out cadence of "Big Spender"; the fact that the phrase "we've all got needs" usually comes with the implication that they aren't currently being met. The fact that no one else ever seems to hear this makes me worry that maybe this is some kind of projection on my part; but I can't hear anything else, and the resulting tension between sound and intent makes "Needs" more compelling than it should be. For instance: That buffet line because wasn't sexy on Katy Perry's "Bon Appetit" either. [7]

Alfred Soto: She mastered this midtempo sex jam years ago; 333, the best album of 2021, was a middle finger to challengers. She can record these melodies over click tracks forever. In the best of Tinashe's midtempo sex jams I hear more at stake. [6]

Will Adams: As a single, it's serviceable, with Tinashe going cruise control on a cutesy sex jam. But it's a disservice to the otherwise excellent BB/Angel, where tension was the mode and, as a result, far more interesting. Docked an extra point for that weird vocal processing midway through that makes it sound like she's suspended in Jell-O. [5]

Joshua Minsoo Kim: BB/ANG3L is one of Tinashe's best albums if only because it's 20 minutes long -- the maximum amount of R&B she can deliver before everything turns to mush. And "Needs" is indeed more of that nondescript, nocturnal mood music: gauzy synth pads, a minimal beat, her voice flitting in the ether. That lone verse is the best part, her vocals slurred as she sings about getting eaten out -- the brashness matches the dingy, dimly lit atmosphere. Artists with 10x her budget would make being horny a glamorous, extravagant, all-consuming affair. As an unimaginative songwriter and perpetual C-lister, Tinashe can't quite do that, and so she sticks with meat-and-potatoes production and finds the lyrics to match. [6]

Michelle Myers: Nashe seems to be enjoying herself again. Perhaps my perception is colored by its twerking-in-the-grocery music video, but "Needs" feels more like a dirty joke among friends than a genuine attempt at seduction. [7]

David Moore: I enjoy the Ryan Leslie-esque synth clouds, but the song goes beyond circular to samey -- a mass of wispy gray stratus clouds when they needed to be little fluffy cumuli. [6]

Brad Shoup: Not entirely certain why she bothered with a verse. Maybe she had nowhere else to place the peaches, bananas. A short, spare song but there's still room to ponder whether the simp sucks or not. (The verbal abuse feels central to the action.) Great singsong chorus, even if I keep hearing "talk real mean" as "taco meat". [6]

Taylor Alatorre: An impressionistic portrait of desire intermingling with control that sets a rather low bar for itself, and then proceeds to leap over that bar with an abundance of style. And by "style," I mean Tinashe doing violence to her voice in a way that's meant to embody twin ideals of cuteness and menace, which has the knock-on effect of making her say "peaches, bananas" in a voice that sounds like it's been taken over by the Shimmer from Annihilation. Now that's just good clean fun, in my opinion. [7]

Edward Okulicz: Nice song. Not sure why they shot the amusing video with Tinashe and her dancers having fun in a supermarket before they finalised the vocal though because there's a fine line between sexy and bored in a jam and this is on the wrong side of it. Wait, what? This is the final version of the song and it's not waiting on a re-recording to make her sound as fun as she is having in the video? You're shitting me. [5]

Jackie Powell: It is impressive that Tinashe was able to freestyle the final line in the chorus "we all got needs" which launched the entire concept for "Needs." She told Dazed that she "just pressed record and played a beat" and a chorus was born. This track seems more like an extended hook or an interlude rather than a full song. The chorus and post chorus make up over 75 percent of the entire song. It's fine this song was made for TikTok, but the only verse this song has contains a vocal distortion that ruins what came before it. Tinashe's voice is smooth and sensual enough, it doesn't need to sound like it's underwater. I say Na-na-na, na-na-na to whoever decided that Tinashe's diction had to suffer in the track's only verse. She sounded like she was holding her nose. [6]

Nortey Dowuona: Tinashe was always meant to be a mid tier artiste. She had both too many outre tastes to stay comfortable in conventional pop structures, but was too nostalgia heavy and cynical to drift into a more esoteric mysticism. She could dance, she could sing, she could dance and sing, in a world where neither of those things was novel to the marketplace or stunningly amazing, she could have comfortably avoided irrelevance and been scooped into the orbit of an actual star. But Tinashe has always charted her own path and set her own course, so instead she's doing this slower than 120 bpm pop-R&B tune about satisfying the desires for pleasure and indulgence, the things music can easily achieve without breaking a sweat. Thank god for Tinashe. [10]

Ahhh thank you!! This fic is such a pain in the ass (affectionate), it's really a labor of love.

We all know Obi-Wan and Anakin are incapable of communicating on the first try (or even the twentieth try). They had to do a whole lot of work to undo first impressions and then find their way from there. But one of the biggest problems is that they won't even admit what they want out of it!!

Obi-Wan is out here going "Please love me, please love me" but he REFUSES to say that aloud because he's too afraid to hear a refusal. In his mind, nothing is making sense anyway, because (spoiler alert) Tatooine was the one who asked for the marriage. He really thought that Anakin WANTED to marry him, and he feels like he's being jerked around when Anakin's behavior seems to show that he never did.

I think there's definitely a bitter, self-hating sort of sentiment here where Obi-Wan is thinking that he's somehow unloveable. So in this scene with the spar, he's thinking "Will you stay?" because he's willing to settle for being coworkers and being friends, even if it means he'll never have a loving marriage. (And it's such a relief that Anakin says yes to even that. Like, progress in SPADES)

They're slowly sort of figuring out their emotions and trying to reconcile their cultural differences at the same time. I'm hoping the next arc (after the poison thing) will be very hindi-love-song-esque (ie: if ch 6-8 was jashn-e-bahaara, Tatooine arc will be in lamhon ke daaman mein ((sex included))

Glad I can still surprise you even though you clearly know the movie well!! I remember rewatching it before starting this fic and going "Wow what do you mean no one has made this extremely specific crossover as a fic already?" Like to me it was so vividly clear that Komari was Maham Anga and Xanatos was Adham Khan but somewhere along the way I threw out Sujamal's plotline and added more siblings and omegaverse and a whole bunch of Force philosophy and it became its whole own beast!

Obi-Wan's definitely going to get a chance to explore Tatooine (mostly at Anakin's side, but not always) because I want him to get some direct insight on Anakin's culture and traditions. I have yet to decide how much anonymity he has, but I feel like the people of Tatooine are pretty chill about royalty. Also they'll get to go to a temple, which I'm pretty excited about!!

du hast vor ner Weile nach soften headcanons gefragt und ich weiß nicht, wie gut du Emil und die Detektive (2001) kennst, aber ich hab den gestern mit @mondfahrt geschaut und kann jetzt nicht aufhören, über Crossovers nachzudenken, egal wie random 😅

Pony Hütchen ist halt definitiv schonmal nonbinary, das ist quasi so gut wie canon. Sie benutzt sie und dey/dem Pronomen und datet später Trude Bogolowski, die nach Berlin zieht und in dem Restaurant von Ponys Vater jobbt.

Gustav Hummel my beloved und Sebastian Kreuzkamm wären eine explosive Mischung, die ich mir nicht entgehen lassen will.

Und weil ich das Ende von Emil und die Detektive unnötig heteronormativ finde (literally? Emils Vater und Pastorin Hummel interagieren den ganzen Film lang nicht, er hat sehr viel mehr Chemistry mit ihrem Bruder, aber trotzem muss er mit einem Arm um sie gelegt weglaufen? so weird!!), hab ich beschlossen, dass Pastorin Hummel und dfk Kathrin sich Ende der 80er auf einer Montagsdemo in Leipzig kennengelernt und gebondet haben. Pastorin Hummel war damals allerdings frisch verheiratet oder verlobt oder so, und Kathrin hat ihr Flirten schnell eingestellt, als sie das gemerkt hat. Jahre später treffen sie wieder zufällig aufeinander und plötzlich, chaotischerweise, funkt es zwischen den beiden (wieder).

six year old me fühlt sich im übrigen von deiner anmerkung zu pastorin hummel und herr tischbein sehr sehr gesehen, denn das hat mich als kind schon so sehr verwirrt. like for real, die kennen sich so… einen halben tag?? woher kommt das? ich hab komplett vergessen, wie viel chemistry zwischen dem vater und emils lehrer ist, aber schon allein die tatsache, dass der lehrer auch einfach beschließt, emil solange unter seine fittiche zu nehmen (auch wenn das heißt, ihn einfach mal zu seiner schwester nach berlin alleine zu schicken), spricht ja doch schon irgendwie dafür, dass sich der lehrer und emils vater nahe stehen… who really knows 👀 ich bin ja bekanntlich offen für ideen.

aber ich mag die idee von pastorin hummel zusammen mit kathrin unglaublich sehr, vielleicht kennt johann ja den bruder aus dem studium und/oder hat ihn mal gedatet oder so und daher kennen sich die beiden um ein paar ecken. oder kathrin und sie haben auch zusammen studiert, zwischen beiden ist immer irgendwie etwas, aber so ganz gehen sie nie daraufein und dann ist pastorin hummel verlobt und zieht nach berlin. und ohnehin pastorin hummel war immer ein bisschen lost, weil sie auch ein bisschen verwirrt von kathrins und johanns beziehung war und dann reden die zwei miteinander darüber, wenn sie sich jahre später nochmal treffen. okay, irgendwie würde ja jetzt auch nichts dagegen sprechen es mal überhaupt miteinander zu versuchen.

aber wirklich sapphic anja kling, i didnt know i need it that much, danke dass du dieses konzept ins leben gerufen hast <333

sebastian kreuzkamm und gustav hummel kennen sich bestimmt von irgendeinem schulischem förderprogramm (oder durch die kirche lmao) und haben sich erstmal gegenseitig angebitcht, um dann später festzustellen, dass sie eigentlich sehr gut miteinander klarkommen

You sent this and it made me physically coo and then I never responded, talk about flop era. Anyway, dad Levi is so so so special to me <33 (Also reminder, Aria is like... maybe 13 months old, Kiaan is a little over 2, and Holden is almost 5).

Levi talks to his children like they’re grown adults all the time. That’s not to say he curses at them and scolds them like he would an incompetent co-workers; it’s just that he doesn’t dumb down his speech, or sugarcoat answers to their geniune questions--nor does he babble in baby talk to his newborn. He might not understand the nonsense words of a baby just learning to speak, but he’ll sure act like he does. Aria is just making sounds and Levi is nodding along, very seriously responding, “Exactly what I was thinking. Needs more salt, kid.”

He feels so proud watching your guys’ kids interact with each other. Kiaan has always been the most curious, but watching him be so infatuated with his baby sister--and ask his dad for help/how to take care of her--always warms Levi’s heart. (And maybe Levi’s current homescreen is a photo of Kiaan looking equally nervous and elated while holding Aria after he asked you if he could).

Family dinner time is so important to him. One of you always sits next to Aria to help her in her high-chair, and Kiaan and Holden play rock paper scissors to see who gets to sit on her other side (though, you’ve witnessed Holden throw a couple of matches because of how excited her younger brother is to help feed their sister; also you’re pretty certain Holden just likes to sit closest to Levi to copy the way he uses his utensils). He always watches with the softest smile as everyone talks and eats together, and he’s so grateful for you and your little family <33

Hiii Shadow I just wanna talk about some moresome trans rancher headcanons <3

I headcanon that because Tango is a blaze/human hybrid finding medical care is really difficult, so Zedaph agreed to be his doctor in exchange for it being allowed to do unethical experiments on him. And Tango doesn't care because Zed would've found a way to experiment on him either way, and this way he gets a free doctor out of it. So among other things, Zed was the one who made him his hrt (hrt for blaze/human hybrids didn't exist yet so he had to design it, Tango was harmed many times during the testing process but that's okay he made it out with working customized T and free top surgery)

So skip to the hermitpires crossover, Jimmy comes out as transfemme and Tango's just like. Do you need hrt cause I know a guy. So once they're on Hermitcraft together Tango introduces Jimmy and Zed and it's very silly and fun, but Tango brings up that Jimmy needs hrt and she has no way of getting it for herself (I have weird rules I've designed for Empires, Jimmy can't leave the server to get medical care but Tango is able to bring her things because he's able to fully travel to any server he knows the address of). So Zed agrees because she wouldn't even need to work that hard seeing as the prescription already exists, he would just need to get it.

So Zed is just Jimmy's hrt supplier and it's so fun to me <3 They haven't met aside from when they were both on Hermitcraft, but when Tango comes over with her prescription they can just be like "Oh btw Zed says hi" "Aw how's it been lately?? Tell her I say hi :D"

I wrote a short fic about this months ago that never saw the light of day, it isn't great but maybe someday I'll rewrite it to where I'd officially post it. But Zed's weird ass relationship with Tango is so important to me and I just love them dragging Jimmy into it

Yeah we can add drug dealer to the list of Zed's occupations, why not? /j I think it's very funny that on Empires Jimmy is just sitting around questioning her gender and then Tango comes in which prompts Jimmy to be like "yo I think I'm a girl(adjacent)" and Tango, being the amazing boyfriend he is, is just like "cool! You want some titty skittle from my friend?" And now every so often Tango pops into Empires w Jimmy's fem&Ms and they catch up only slightly mentioning the mad scientist who repeatedly violates the Geneva Convention on the daily that is supplying Jimmy w her anti-cis-tamines. Baa's a lovely person, they swear beep is.

I would love a fic based on this btw. /nf obviously but if you ever rewrite it and post it I expect to be tagged

possible alternative to the gnostic view on light that i usually see the light aspect being attributed to? similar basic idea maybe but different conception, not sure how far this could go yet. makes the most sense for rose considering her class but idk. irl i've been trying to piece together more of a connection between plato's Goodness and the Dao (in the context of the daodejing & confucianism both; also maybe the white horse dialogue but good lord i don't think i really understand that one well enough to really relate it to anything else properly) but i wonder if that kind of metaphysics can be applied to the homestuck aspects too. i vaguely (?) remember seeing a video on that a long ass time ago but i don't remember who it was by, maybe i should find that again and see if i understand it better??

kind of endeared by the fact that rose's first messages to dave directly accuse him of being gay (333), that's one plotline that actually lasts from beginning to end. also a lot his really iconic rants are super early in the comic, which ig makes sense (e.g. planet fucking jupiter, oliver twist, minivan, etc).

if anyone else actually reads these, the sartre no exit/alpha kids crossover is formally a wip now. really hoping i can commit to that long enough to finish it, it's been fun so far cause i think i've gotten jake's voice figured out decently well, though i definitely need to review jane a bit more in canon to make sure i'm not accidentally turning her into a second jake. probably still going to take a while regardless, i've got Shit to Do this weekend. if you can figure out which kids stand in for which characters in the original i love you btw
