On why my discord servers are 21+

I put this on bluesky a little while ago, I thought I'd put it here too, because I do often get asked. So, on why my discord servers are 21 and older only - Honestly I would love to have everyone (I really would) but after a couple of years of observation it was clear that most of mod time was being spent on the 18 - 20 age range. It's better to wait a minute than have folks getting booted for things they'd grow out of. It was also a mental drain on me personally. I don't run any of my servers solo, but it's tough to have uncomfortable back to back conversations about server rules. In particular if it's someone who came from my social media accounts and may not be expecting that kind of interaction.

March of Pain Day 8: Broken

The prince collapses, knees hitting the forest floor first before he slumps to the side. Blood trickles from his shoulder, from the wound inflicted by the sorcerer’s hideous champion. Other cuts show through his ripped clothing, torn by the countless claws of the monstrous army.

He’s never seen anything like them, the hoard of deformed monsters that falls back now in a wave of darkness, watching him. They think their job is done. They think they’ve defeated him.

Lying on the ground, gasping for breath, the prince fears they may be right. He can’t stand, can’t even reach for the bloodied sword just out of his grasp.

They’ve broken him, just as the sorcerer commanded.

The hoard of monsters shifts, cowering and parting, tripping over the bodies of their fallen comrades in their haste. The air turns ice cold, and the prince looks up, dread sweeping over him.

The sorcerer. The sorcerer stands before him, looking down at him with the eye of an eagle surveying a freshly-caught mouse.

“Well, well, well.” The voice emanates from a mouth that doesn’t move, surrounding the prince like a foul miasma. “I wasn’t planning to come myself, but I had to see this picture in person. The prince, broken. How perfect.” Something hits the prince in the chest. Pain and darkness explode in his head. The last thing he feels is the sensation of chains fastening around his wrists.

I got these shoes from someone recently but thought they were way too plain looking, so I set out on a quest to customize them with some sharpies and charms and miscellaneous ribbon I had in my craft drawers. Mostly sky themed (clouds, rainbows, rain, stars, etc.) because that's my favorite aesthetic, but I had to include some cat imagery as well, of course lol.

Anyways, moving on. The angst gods demand sacrifice.

With the loss of what is basically their entire structure of command, the Chain almost falls apart in grief entirely. The key word here, is almost.

Mask is furious. But someone needs to take charge, or else the group is going to unravel, and he doesn't feel like he could handle it alone. (He doesn't want to handle it, at all, but there's no other choice, now. He won't put this on Ocarina, either. Mask is the older one, after all.)

He pulls Wind and Sketch aside and lays it out: someone needs to take charge. He feels like the three of them, now, are the most capable of keeping everyone together. Will they help him?

Grief can feel all-consuming, but having a goal puts a figurative light at the end of the tunnel. Collectively, the new Leader Trio decides: they have to keep the group together, for Dusk, Gen, and Lore's sake. And then they're going to coordinate the most ruthless revenge scheme ever invented.
