I absolutely fucking love Brennan and Sibohan as catty British teen sisters like dishing on their enemies and playfully griping (and expressing honest sentiments of love and affection) at each other
FHJY making it extremely difficult for me to be normal about aelwyn abernant
She's a middle school teacher, she lives with five cats, she's using a piece of 'evil' abjuration magic to tell the entire world that if they want to fuck with her sister they'll have to get through her first, I just??????
Aelwyn doing her best to make up for all the years she has missed being Adaine's big sister, taking her shopping and searching up what big sisters are supposed to do because Adaine was her little sister and she shouldn't have had to save her and it was meant to be the other way around. She takes care of her little sister tenfold, because she missed out on sixteen years of it and she wouldn't again.
But at the same time, the torture broke her beyond repair. She cannot walk for a while without a cane, and if they're going out for the day she has to have a wheelchair. There are days when she can't get out of bed, so she has to have the bottom one and she hates those days, but Adaine and Fig and Kristen and Ayda take her in and brush her hair when she can't. They take care of each other.
Aelwyn gets a job, just a small one she can do from her room if she can't move, modelling and being a brand endorser. She has her own channel where she speaks about Parental Favouritism and the Neglect it brings, and physical and mental health. She's an advocate, and an activist, and she's on talk shows. She apologises to the Maiden's with Jawbone's help and is in therapy. She is besties with Ragh and Zayne and she is living her best life. She loves her new family and they love her. Jawbone formally adopts her at the end of the year, and she also attends a part-time uni course in business and marketing. She is good.
has anyone else thought about how “abernant” is extremely similar to “aberrant.” to be aberrant is to “deviate from the usual or natural type, to stray from the right or normal way,” (merriam-webster). anyone else thinking about The Implications for the abernant sisters. hello? anyone??
aelwyn "did we escape or did we die?" abernant my absolute fucking beloved. the way her natural abjurer's ward started covering herself and adaine on their first night out of the tower. the way she is just so sad. the way she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that adaine would become the next elven oracle. she's a bitch she's a loser she's everything to me
In episode one of Fantasy High, Adaine casts Tasha's Hideous Laughter on Aelwyn and Aelwyn not only makes her save but reverses it onto Adaine. Eleven episodes later, Adaine casts Tasha's on Aelwyn as the final blow to defeat her in an all out battle and thoroughly embarrass her in front of all of her peers.
Now, Adaine casts the same spell on Aelwyn as a bit of good natured teasing and Aelwyn elects to fail the save.
Aelwyn might not want to heal as fast as Jawbone wants but she IS healing. They both are!
i hope siobhan thompson knows that “i don’t love our parents, but despite the fact that you have not earned it, I do love you” is carved onto the surface of my brain and I think about it constantly
TW: Incel-type talk, Biz Glitterdew being himself, just gross talk about women, but it's not condoned. It's actively challenged. Fuck Biz Glitterdew.
If anyone asked, it did not happen, Aelwyn would carry this secret to her grave. But she had just defended her little sister against Biz Glitterdew, because someone needed to put him in his place, and it might as well be her. Biz had come in from school, looking depressed and dishevelled. "What's wrong?" Penelope asked, but Aelwyn just rolled her eyes at her employers? Friends? Mock concern. Biz gestured vaguely towards Aelwyn.
"Your sister," He said, "is a bitch."
"I know." Aelwyn said, biting her lip. "Why?"
"I asked her out, and she- Aelwyn what the hell!" Aelwyn, without thinking, had pinned Biz against the nearest wall by his neck. "Aelwyn!" He tried again, but she held a spell in the one free hand, tossing it dangerously between her fingers.
"If you ever touch my sister, I will kill you." She threatened, letting him go crashing to the floor. "I don't care if you have her consent, I'll fucking kill you."
"I thought you hated your sister?" Dayne, who Aelwyn had almost forgotten about, spoke up. Aelwyn launched the spell she'd been saving at his head, making sure that it didn't actually hit him, just singed the wall in the empty space next to his head.
"Of course, I don't. I don't like her. But I will spend a whole day with her before I see her ruin herself with this thing." A finger-pointing at Biz emphasised her point. Hidden in this was a sentiment that Aelwyn would never say aloud; Her sister was more important than everyone in this room combined, she'd kill them all and then herself to get Adaine out somewhere, to make Adaine know she was literally one of the most important Elves alive currently. Biz took on a horrible smirk.
"Your sister wouldn't tell you if I touched her anyway. You wouldn't know."
"That's right, how could I," Aelwyn walked over, and touched the space next to Dayne's head where her spell had hit, "a magic caster, detect my sister's thoughts? You have bested me there, Biz, I will admit. Do not touch my sister, do not hurt my sister, do not talk to her."
And Aelwyn, not to warn her sister, just to calm her head, walked out of the room and left everyone in her wake.
