Info About the 80's As Provided By My Dad, Who Graduated High School in 1987:
No boxers, no briefs, ONLY tighty-whiteys.
The Satanic Panic was something discussed primarily by adults to try and sway more voters toward Reagan.
EVERYONE had their ears pierced. Men, women, everyone. My Dad still wears his little diamond stud sometimes.
Crop tops and tube socks were a popular combo for high school and college guys.
Long hair was masculine and having decent hygiene was a big deal.
You took a girl to the roller rink on the first date to show off and then to the drive-in on the second date if she wanted to make out.
Here are some good metal bands to include in your fics: Judas Priest, Queensryche, Slayer, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Saxon, Scorpions, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, and Alice Cooper.
Vinyl cost between $1 and $4 on average.
Minimum wage was around $3.50.
Jorts for men. Good fuckin' lord the cutoff jorts for men...
The stoners knew everyone and everything.
If you're writing a fic or making art and have any questions for Mark about your Historical Accuracy, please feel free to send me an ask and I'll text him.
He thinks this is fun.

TMNT classic fanart. Grew up in the 80's and my dad bought us a TMNT heroes in the half shell VHS tape. Used to watch that so much, that over the time it almost worn out the tape! I'm still huge fan of the turtles and one of the inspiration for becoming a artist!

A Dream Within a Dream
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Wonderful Things That May Or May Not Be Wonderful Pong was not the first video game ever made. That was Tennis for Two. Pong was not the first video game made for arcades. That was Computer Space. Heck, Pong wasn’t even the first game with two sliding paddles knocking a ball around. That honor goes to the games on the Magnavox Odyssey, the first home video game console which both released a few months before Atari’s creation and even directly inspired it. What Pong did do was be successful. It showed America and the world at large that video games could not only be commercial successes but be a worthy and fun use of someone’s time. It helped pave the way for the hobbies and careers many of us enjoy today and I'd say that's pretty important. Sure, all those other games contributed as well but Pong was released 50 years ago from today so it’s the one getting the wonderful today.

ok, i've been told that in the 80s literally everything in home decor was brown or beige. Furniture, decorations, walls. Is that true?
"And orange and green, yeah. We lived in a Burger King ad."
