I just finished listening to Love Run for the first time and uh...
we do each other’s laundry in our hearts sometimes
know you should love him but it’s such a pain
and although you hold my hand and say “I love you,” you are wrong

...those are the lines in each song that decided to use my heart as a totally willing unwilling vessel to discover just how many emotions a human can feel at once without dying instantly. (That last one was so funny that I just had to include it.)

#new tad album in the works.....#going by the timeframe btwn the announcements/studio posts versus release dates for thatw & ruin it might actually release after i leave#and there's no guarantee they'll have any live shows at all esp not one in dublin BUT if they do it's easier to go from dublin to london#than from maryland to london most certainly (assuming it would be in london since thats the location they tagged on bandcamp)#but one can dream#and new frances hardinge book came out in september...though the odds are that if she had a book tour for it it would have already ended#so maybe they are all coming true in a monkey paw way. so close yet so far#talkin

Yay Charlie, here we go. For the THATW song ask game, I feel like we haven't gotten to talk much about Battle Cries? So that one, and questions 1, 2, 6, and 8. :)
1. what was your first impression about this song? And as it changed?
I didn't really have any feelings about it, I loved it obviously like all of their songs but it wasn't one of the special ones. And yes it did change a lot but that will be for the next questions ^^
2. How does this song make you feel?
Overwhelmed to be honest.
(Edit: OK so this is what I wrote first and then I Googled some stuff and maybe I'm wrong, you'll see why)
I feel like Joey's voice is a tiny bit too load and cover Madeleine's voice so I have to focus really hard, even with the lyrics, to isolate her voice.
But also I'm kind of angry at Madeleine's character imao. I trully feel like she is the toxic and controlling one in this relationship which make me even more mad that I have to read the lyrics to understand her because she is the emotionally violent one so I feel like she should be the one we hear the most and that we should have to focus to hear Joey. But I guess that it could be voluntary since emotional abuse is often hidden from others, but since we're inside there home it would make more sense to hear her more to me.
I think that it's my biggest hot TAD take so far 😅.
Edit: wait wait wait! I just googled what beating your chest mean and wait O.O– it mean screaming your sadness and hunger at people but in an unsincere way. Was he lying all along to get people's sympathy? Was he trying to pass as the good guy here???? Or what? I'm doubtful suddenly, because it now feel like the lasts lines might be a twist but I'm not sure, or is he sincerely saying that he will not show a fake version of the story and will be honest? help!
6. What stories or characters are connected to this song in your mind?
Complete OCs, like most of their songs tbh.
8. Do you visualize any colors, images, or scenes while listening?
Yes!!! I imagine everything in such a detail way oh my god, I feel like I'm either their neighbours or their kid listening to them fighting, or I could even be the wallpaper. I'm just listening to every details of something that I shouldn't be listening too, they don't know that I know you know? But I can see them in their living room, fighting, screaming, putting their hands on their face and in their hair, pointing to the kitchen when talking about smashing the plates. I can see her trying to grabe onto him, to get him to stay.
All of this in a very specific aesthetic, it's the evening, the golden hour and the sun is making everything yellow with some ray of sunlight sliding through the curtains while the rest is a lot darker, representing their fight and fallen relationship.

TADvent Day 30 - New Beginnings

I'll be honest, I looked at this on the 22nd and wished I hadn't made all those posts about Battle Cries already :')
So instead I want to look ahead to the new album. So far, all 3 albums have shown a different stage in a relationship. Love Run is the beginning, finding someone and choosing to run towards their feelings embracing them and the power it grants them. THATW is the collapse of the relationship, the fire and fury and madness that tore them apart. Ruin is the aftermath, looking around once the dust has settled and finding the parts of you that are, in fact, still you.
So where will this new album take us? Will we have a new adventure, finding out new things about yourself and becoming a new person in the process? Will we go back to the start, beginning the cycle anew without learning anything? Will we find someone new, leading towards a happier ending? Will it be something altogether different? There are so many direction this album could take, and I can't wait to see where we end up.
(And I'll probably end up crying because lets be real, it's TAD, they always make me sob.)

The horror and the wild anniversary
I already did a little something for the anniversary [x] but I wanted to say some words about the most unique band I've listened to.
I am so glad I had the chance to discover them because they changed my way to understand words and narrative patterns in music. My english ear isn't perfect but I think I am fluent enough to understand pretty well what is said. So I often not look at the lyrics while listening to music in english.
That was not the case with them, not because I didn't understand what they were saying. I got the words. But strangely it was the meaning that eluded me. Like I couldn't print in my mind, sentence after sentence, what the songs were about. And the first song I choose to read while listening was That Unwanted Animal.
That was revealing and insanely emotional. I was crying at the end of it from the force of the metaphors linked to magic of Madeleine's voice. And every songs I heard after that was a new experience. I finished exhausted and euphoric at the same time, with so many emotions pulled out from me.
From THATW, there are many songs that blew me away. Farewell Wanderlust will always have some special place in my heart. Marbles too. But every song can speak to me and I know that they speak to us all.
I decided to create my very first fan account at almost 40 because of TAD and the dear hearts fans that are the most incredible community.
I never seen a so opened and lovely fandom. So willing to share their experiences around this music, knowing that you will not be booed and mocked to have different visions for the same song. I feel like in a big family of anonymous strangers. I feel safe.
I know I didn't specifically speak about that album much but I felt like I simply wanted to honor The Amazing Devil on that day. So I just want to thank the king and the queen of all faes to share their magic with us.

Today I’m thinking about Secret Worlds! I’ve always thought about it as similar to The Horror and the Wild in tone, style, and placement within the album. I just noticed an interesting contrast -- while in The Horror and the Wild, wings are emphasized throughout, Secret Worlds emphasizes climbing. Wings are mentioned several times in both the albums Love Run and The Horror and the Wild, but not once in Ruin. Are the characters in Ruin comprable to the “wingless things” in THATW? Do they make their way without assistance, clambering instead of flying? Are they more down-to-earth in that way? I don’t know, but it’s definitely interesting!

6) I love Wild Blue Yonder in its entirety but "Come rest for the winter, wear my jumper all night long" just makes me feel so nice. Cuddling up with your lover under the blankets and wearing their sweater is just :'))))) All I imagine when I hear this song is like, coffee or tea in bed, sunshine coming through while you and your partner laugh under the sheets !!

Currently reading: I’m reading a bunch of things for my master about movies, tv series and monster’s concepts. But when I don’t do my master, I’m reading the fifth volume of The Witcher.
I live in Canada and I’m speaking French (it’s my first language), so I read some Quebec writers; currently I’m reading Roux clair naturel of Fanie Demeule. It’s about a girl that construct her entire identity on a lie; she’s not naturally a ginger. The character is obsessed to keep that secret down but she’s feeling guilty about it and she develop an identity crisis. It is beautifully written.

Hello again, hehe. For The Horror and the Wild album ask game, 12 and 15?
For the 12: What song do you always sing along with?
I'm not going to be original, but it's definitly the song Fair. Whatever I'm doing (most likely writing my master that doesnt want to be finished) I wil stop myself and just sing peacefully the lyrics. They help me to calm myself and to believe that I will share one day a love like this with someone. It encapsulate the certainty of a tomorrow (something an anxious girl like me crave everyday).
For the 15: If you could recommend only one THATW song to your followers, what would it be?
I would certainly recommend That Unwanted Animal for the extraordinary performance of Madeleine Hyland. She have an incredible strenght and sensitivity in that song (that she have in all the songs of that album and others) but it's really remarquable in that one. Her voice is ethereal and splendid in it. And the song is really good and, in my point of vue, talks of another way of the anxiety and the depression that Joey and Madeleine talk in Farewell Wanderlust. The one coming from within that you didn't suspect was there but wait the most unexpected moment to eat you alive, destroying you and everyone you love and adore.

Again, that's a tough one! I sing along all of them (or more particularly, part of them). Doing lipsync on the ''Fuck you'' in ''New York Torch song'' with a mask in a public bus is one of the best thing to do ever (you all have to try it someday). But if i have to choose one song that I always sing along, it would be Love/Run. I sing the whole eight minutes with my heart and my soul - when Joey sing the first Unemployed, my knees go weaks...
The melody and the lyrics are juste soooo fine! It's the promise for adventures, for fun, for lazy day without culpabilities, for love, for dead, for life, for everything. That the only thing worth to move, to do something, is LOVE.

For the 2 : What song from Love Run gradually grew on you?
I would say Little Miss Why So.
I don't know really why, but at the first listening, I didn't understand the song. In fact, I didn't see where the song was in the story of these humans, what she meant for the two of them, what she was saying about them, about their relationship, about their past, present and future.
It's been only a few weeks that I really, but really listened to the lyrics and saw what that song meant for the protagonists in the vague and vast story of them that I made up (even that story change with time, with my endlessly listening of these songs).
For the 18: If you could pick one Love Run song to watch performed live, what would it be?
Oh my god! It's so difficult to choose! Like is it even possible to choose between one?
I would like to see King be performed just for that line, that I found absolutely beautifully written and sang:
The sea and its waters , every unwanted daughter (is that you're here)
Or even for the whole performance that must be to listen in live of New York Torch Song. Or even just for the comfort of listening Not Yet-Love Run in live.
