Ok fuck it you know something I've never really quite understood about part of the Leftist vs Liberals debate on voting.

So so so many people act like its either-or. Like you're either dedicating your entire life to voting and promoting politicians and phone banking or whatever, or you're a True Rebel waiting for The Uprising to Come and Solve Everything.

But like. In my experience. Me voting is just me kinda go 'which person seems kinda good? Which one at least sucks the least? ok lemme go vote.' and then its anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops of my life. And I still have plenty of time to do Stuff and participate in Conversations about Other Important Things. And also you can admit and acknowledge and understand that the system As Is kinda sorta really sucks ass, but also still admit and acknowledge and understand that at this current point in time we are still living in the suckass system and do something to alleviate the suckass At Least A Little while also working to bolster/create/advocate for Other Systems.

I guess just like. it's not a black or white thing. Between 'top 500 volunteers for a specific politician/voting office/etc' and 'absolutely positively not voting at all' there is a gray area called 'vote and then just do other stuff'.

#out of queue #ani rambles #ani rant #now hang on its time to acknowledge my Privilege(TM)#the first few times I ever voted for anything I was in college and the student center was a voting center #so asides from waiting in a long (~30 minute tops bc early vote) line to get in I didn't have to do a big drive or anything #and at my house there's a voting center thats a like 5 minute drive from my place or a 10 minute drive depending on what election it is #and im ablebodied and have a open (read: jobless) schedule so I can Just Go for the most part #i live in a City so there's probs lots of voting centers at churches and libraries and all across town too #but like. some people act like people saying Hey Go Vote Plz are screaming like #'if you don't donate 200 dollars and 4+ weeks of your time to canvassing and calling and volunteering you are RUINING AMERICA'#when at least from what I've seen its just like. 'can you maybe go fill in a bubble on a Scantron so people like me don't Die Faster.'#also there's early voting and mail-in voting and all that jazz like yeah the current system makes it harder to vote but theres still W AYS #you don't gotta pull up at 6am on Election Day Tuesday yknow?#if i get blasted for this remember as I was: happy and rambling at 3am about greenhouses and solarpunk stuff #plz be nice i beg k bye

#ok. so the guy from school i visited emailed me today like: good news! we unanimously voted to extend u an offer here #so expect the formal offer in the next week. and im like uuuugh i wanna say yes so bad #bc in the us i would have more flexibility in the program than i would in the uk #and my options in the us r either to b a big fish in a small pond at this schoolor a little fish in a big pond at the other #bc this school is underfunded and a bit isolated out in the mountains but the staff r pretty great and big egos dont seem like a big issue #but if i go to the other school its like a big well funded school. the application was like 75 dollars. fuck u and really annoying #and i mean id have to live in new jersey. so in the city with city driving and prob a more high pressure school environment #and more of a chance of dealing with big egos. but like career wise im sure it would b good. assuming i don't mentally collapse #but i mean that doesnt seem as fun as spending 5 years out in the rocky mountains #like thry have fucking moose and bears! there were deer and turkeys in town!#and my dad just sent me a video of all the spring peepers singing back home and im like 😭 bc froggies and he was like i bet u could find #frogs out in [redacted city] and im like 😭 ur right. it just seems like the better choice for my poor overtaxed brain and the project is #so cool too. i want to get the cyano species as my computer background asap. and the guy is nice and apparently super supportive #and i could probably walk to hiking trails. god. i mean i have to say yes to that. i wanna say yes so bad. send me the formal offer bro #ill fucking take it before i even hear back from the other schools lol. ugh. i hate making choices #oof i am so excited to kno where im going and plan my departure. its gonna b such a pain moving tho i pray that my mum or dad can drive #with me bc otherwise the 20hr drive by myself might kill me. thats almost as bad as my initial move out here lol. the us is so big #ugh. again choices. is this the right choice? probably one of the biggest decisions of my life. the project feels so right. cyanobacteria #my algal group of choice. and hot springs. how tf do u say to no to that? i mean. id b doing that in new jersey too but with red algae #ugh. put me out of this misery lol. also as an aside. shout out to my fucking disaster brain for not being able to focus on a single thing #my boss in a meeting: so glad to have students and staff so excited to b working on this project!! me: lady i hate that im on this project #bc im just sitting in until they can get an actual student. i just do what im told but appreciate the enthusiasm lol #ay. im so tired. i wanna see the snow and mountains. and fix my head. and get outta the desert. and listen to frogs 🐸 😌#unrelated

working for 12+ hours today in front of a computer screen made me come to the realization that maybe murder IS warranted sometimes 🙃🤪

#this project has been the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE FOR MONTHS NOW #i told my boss MONTHS ago that there were all these issues with this project/employee #and he kept blowing me off and telling me to give the project/employee ‘one more week’ for weeks on end #so i slog through while doing my best and then he randomly gives me a deadline for the project thats like a little over a week away #and i asked if he was going to glance through the project to give me feedback/SEE THE FUCKING PROBLEMS #and he says ‘yeah ill get to it’#then four days before the deadline he says ‘actually im not going to look at the project just pass it off to the final editing team’#at this point i KNOW there are problems in the project but ive read it so many times its gibberish #so im like fine whatever maybe some new eyes will help #well the new eyes helped a LOT and spotted problems that hadnt occured to me #a bunch of problems #normally im very good at my job but i just needed a little guidance on this project and got NONE until the very end #so i got up at 5am today and worked on NOTHING but this godforsaken project for like 13 hours #AND IM STILL NOT DONE #but i had to stop working tonight bc my eyeballs where literally starting to flick back and forth #with literal stress induced nystagmus #so i gotta get up at 5am AGAIN tomorrow and prob get shitty anxiety filled sleep tonight 👍🏼#FUCK i hate being an adult #personal

#delete later #did a good compromise today. my therapist will be proud. only minorly panicky now #and have been making my chainmail things and it makes me very happy #have started designing the arm bracers abd bought fabric glue for the material ill be using #probs gonna make it velcrow abd add decorative buckles so dont have to worry about flaps of material #have the shape sorted and am gonna experiment with foam and stuff #have a good idea pf how to attach thr chainmail to it. just how to make it all stiff enough that it keeps its shape #ive been using cardboard for a lot of things but i dont like using it for wearable stuff bc i worry about washing things #im a messy person i need to be able to wash things without it falling apart #i have a yoga mat that might be good. i would just need to figure oit how to set it in a certain position #i have a tube i can dry it over. it might be a douse in pva and dry over cellophaned tube sorta deal #the cape is going well. hood is finished. cloak itself needs to be sewed around tge bottom and the front edge hemmed #thrn its just attaching thrm and decorating #i have fake autumn leaves abd acorns and i want to sculpt some shelf mushrooms out of my super light clay #but idk if thats overkill. i mean its my costune so that doesbt matter i guess. im very proud of myself on this project and i love it #and i even nabaged to do sone work roday despite only being able to think about chainmail #legit spent entire morning making the main piece. needs lengthening but its looking good abd solid #OH ALSO I FUCKING CALLED THE DENTISTS. i havent been in four years bc of anxiety abd TODAY I CALLED A PLACE #REGISTERED THERE AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT WEEK #i did SO WELL TODAY

#why are people so fkn dramatic and mean????#i took last week off because i was feeling terrible mentally bc i couldnt deal with one of my coworkers who also happens to be my friend #since high school....#and every time im sick she wants me to hang out because then she can leave early and take an earlier buss home #and its so annoying that thats the only time she actually wants to hang out #and ive been ignoring her calls all week and she wouldnt stop so i asked her to leave me alone for now....#and when i finally went back to work today she gave me the silent treatment so i decided not to interact #and then everyone else at work started acting weird and rude for no reason #which makes me think she had something to do with it because she loves getting comforted and making everyone else around her the bad guy...#like yea i shouldve probs told her off in a nicer way but it just became too fkn much and she can never take no for an answer either....#idk today was hell and i cant wait to fkn quit even tho its only been 3 months.....#the wrost part is that im her assistant and she just switched me out for someone else which made people #even more suspicious cause they knew something was up #esp bc she started hanging out with the coworker she despises and always talks badly about her #and has been talking to her all day just to be petty...

#I love my coffee sm and my espresso machjne lol #I brought my creamer and almond mjlk and dairy products like cheese and my yogurt in a cooller over break bc i was gonna be gone for 5-6 da #days nd was scared itd go bad nd go to waste but i didnt like eat all of tehse things or go thru the entire products #But i did a little yk but not like everything has been eaten bc thats a lot and ive been eating other food yk but i still #used some of the food i broughtl ol #maybe im neurotic nd didnt need to do that #but like now i had used some of those foods up nd have less left if thatmakes sense vs 5 days passing and eating none of it #and itll go bad sooner in my fridge w out having eatej any of it or used any of my milk etc etc #IDK #i just dont wanna waste foodd <3 but maybe it wldnt have gone bad in a week i mean it didnt but #then id have way more left to have to get thru before it actually gos bad.
