Very Important Question about Vegas's Youtube era: how colorful is his cookware? Did Macau and Chay get him pink and green pineapple patterned mini-muffin trays?
Vegas's kitchen is so colorful. his kitchen looks like a cute kitchen pinterest board threw up all over it. nobody can tell if his aesthetic is retro or industrial or countryside or what, because it's this eclectic mishmash of individually cute instagram worthy things thrown together in a way that almost works but doesn't, because a proper pinterest board is always a hot fucking mess when taken in its entirety.
it first begins with items of whimsy. Macau shows Vegas a picture of a dinosaur ladle, Vegas says "what the fuck is that? father would never allow for those" and that alone manifests 12 of them in his shopping cart. feels very weird about it when they arrive and banishes the box of them to the forgotten corner of a cupboard. then Macau buys Pete his first pineapple jar. and like. it's a pineapple. that's all it is. Pete sticks it in Vegas's kitchen and Vegas is stuck staring at a ceramic pineapple that just looks like a pineapple, unable to figure out why it feels weird. Macau gets Pete a second pineapple jar, except this time it's also an owl face, and Vegas can't figure out why he wishes he was looking at that one instead of the regular pineapple one. he wants to hurl both of them at a wall so hard they leave a dent as they shatter. he wants to put them in a window where they'll be framed as the sun rises on them. he buys a spatula with a bee pattern on a whim all by himself and is so on edge about it for the next two weeks he whips welts onto (a very happy) Pete's back.
over the course of time, all of Vegas's kitchen supplies become items you'd expect to find on pinterest. bird salt and pepper shakers. cutely bland patterned jars labeled COFFEE and TEA. an industrial chic spice rack that sits under his cottagecore herb wall. highly specialized mini pans that make foods in special shapes. so many pastel pots and pans. at first Vegas is always saying stuff like "someone got that for me" or "my father would hate it." but it's not about that. later he's defiantly indifferent and daring about owning them at all. but it's not really about any of that either. it's really just...Vegas letting himself have cute things. things that would be called ~girly~ or ~ruin~ his image. there's actually several items he's just neutral about (like the soft pastel colors--not really his thing tbh! but a good pot is a good pot) or even sometimes dislikes (mini muffin trays = yay!, mini pans that only cook one(1) thing = frustration)-- but like. Vegas is allowed to have them. he's even fine to like them if he wants to. it doesn't matter that he has them. the image they paint of him doesn't matter. and that feeling of just owning cutesy, whimsical, or downright weird kitchen shit as he pleases without it being anything else is its own high for Vegas and his traumas ❤

The thing for me is, Mew isn't holding a gun to Top's head (yet). And Mew represents just as many people as these other characters, if not more. He has every right to need trust and require proof of trustworthiness on his own terms, just as Top has the power to walk away if he objects. But he agreed. So a lot of the takes and impressions I see about Mew just feel a bit overthought and projected. If he's ever going to consciously be manipulative, it'll be to break bad on Top and Boston after he finds out. He yells at Top in the trailer "Why do I have to find out all this shit on the day I already love you and give you everything?!" - and then smirks(?) as his back is turned while Top hugs him, who looks like all his life choices are flashing before his eyes. So maybe that's meant to be his and Nick's arc, for us to see how the world of love sex and relationships is not idealistic, and how it inevitably changes those within it that are.
That's fine.
Look, I just want to enjoy the idea of a virgin who's also allowed to be manipulative and to use sex and to use his attractiveness and to use his body without having sex. I love the idea. I want it to be true. I want it to happen.
Mew is also absolutely using Ray and his love for him. And that's great!
I want Mew to already know what he's doing and to be looking fire in the eyes with Top and enjoying it nonetheless, to be enjoying because he wants this to go exactly how he wants.
Is it true? Pffft, like I know.
All I know is that I want it and I love that idea.
I don't want Mew to truly be the innocent one who learns through this and only discovers this side of himself because of Top.
I want Mew to know. I want him to know what he values and what that is worth to him and what he wants and to get what he thought he could get and what he was sure he wanted and then to use to keep twisting, to keep twisting Top around his finger tighter and tighter.
Will it happen? Probably not.
But I love that idea of Mew. I love that image of Mew. I love a Mew who can and would use his sexuality without having sex because he wants this. He wants Top like the prize everyone else sees him as and he wants him all to himself but he is still using him the same as everyone else.
Yes, Mew and Nick are likely to be the ones to blow the whole thing open but, in my own way, I want Top and Ray to be the most hurt by the whole thing exploding. I want everyone to be hurt and I want pain but I don't want this to just be Mew's innocence being used against him.

And Another Thing it's not like i Don't like roygarth or that i'm particularly Against the ship cause no. but i think their canon relationship is so much more interesting than this weird fanon version of them where they were always Best Buds.
like canon roygarth starts with them being angsty teens dealing with their own shit and fully refusing to understand each other. garth latches on to everyone who's even a Little nice to him and roy is stuck in his I Don't Need Friends They Disappoint Me stage. roy also has very high standards for himself and gets pissy with garth cause he feels like garth shouldn't be a hero. which obviously sets garth off because he Also feels like he shouldn't be a hero but the other titans were usually supportive and understanding whereas roy would actually say it and insult him directly.
And Then garth fucks off and only talks to the titans when they talk to him first, then he's Fine Again but goes through Rough Shit. meanwhile roy's life is Also falling apart. but they get older and they get more mature and they get to this point in their life where they don't Want to fight each other anymore. the titans are their home and they're constantly losing people and they don't Want to lose what little they have left. but they also won't apologize or talk about what happened because they're both emotionally repressed so they just never clear shit up.
it's obvious that later on roy Does respect garth and Does see him as a hero, but he never apologizes for what he said in the past so garth still has doubts. and garth starts to gradually leave the titans out of stuff and only update them once a fucking year so roy is like ?? What Are We??? and as adults you can see that playful banter and that familiarity they have with each other and yeah it IS genuine but it's also burying all the blood bad they never actually sorted.
they're just in this really weird zone where they're Family but they're not Friends. they would give their life for the other but they never talk. they pretend to understand the other but they don't know anything going on in their life. they're best friends and they're just some guys. like imo their canon relationship is so interesting and has So Many Layers that really highlight their individual problems but the fanon version is always like "yeah sometimes they sass each other :)". like.
