It goes like this: they’re standing on a stage, dead centre, the whole rest of the world in orbit of them for that single, infinite moment; and he looks her in the eyes. And he sees right through to her soul.

And it is beautiful.

It goes like this: they’re standing on a stage, applause erupting from all sides from a crowd that doesn’t know the true weight of the victory; and she looks him in the eyes. And she sees a future reflected.

And it looks like home.

They will wonder in the coming days - as the same song lingers in the back of both their minds, hummed under their breaths - how much of it was really performance. Stages are for shows, for fake things that thrive under too-bright lights and flashing colours, but as two voices melted into one, as the lyrics pierced the air, it didn’t feel like something made-up. Thousands of eyes trained on them, and yet it felt such a private moment.

They don’t know, yet, the truth to the lyrics. It’s their song, but they won’t admit that it’s their story etched out in the words. Two stars, on a crash course, briefly colliding until they burn away from each other. Too similar to thrive. Too ignorant to realise it, until the perfect future has already been snatched away.

They don’t know, yet, though, and they don’t need to. Because right now they’re still reeling from their time in the spotlight, on that stage, with their first admittances of love in the form of melodic words. And they’ll stage on that little stage, for as long as they can.

For the whispers of beautiful souls, and a home.

3. a song outside of your usual genre hmm i think i'll go with 'apeshit' by the carters. i only started to dive more into hip hop and rap in recent years, and i think this was one of the first songs that opened the doors for me to do that. and that music video? brilliant!

25. the song currently stuck in your head OR the song you are listening to right now this version of 'the old therebefore', honestly. the whole soundtrack for this movie is phenomenal!

30. your all-time favorite song it has to be 'girls against god' by florence and the machine! it just perfectly encapsulates so many of my emotions. the sadness and the rage, the "it's so good to be alive, crying into cereal at midnight", the parallels and the extremes of going from "i know i may not look like much, just another screaming speck of dust" to "but god you're gonna get it, you'll be sorry that you messed with us". it gets me everytime. i still tear up everytime i listen to it.

I’ve always done things for others, and I would only feel like I accomplished something if I got validated by someone else as a result.
