wrote the first two paragraphs of priory with tolkien’s elvish script. it’s not perfect but I’d like to think I’m improving!

The stranger came out of the sea like a water ghost, barefoot and wearing the scars of his journey. He walked as if drunk through the haze of mist that clung like spidersilk to Seiiki.
The stories of old said water ghosts were doomed to live in silence. That their tongues had shrivelled, along with their skin, and that all that dressed their bones was seaweed. That they would lurk in the shallows, waiting to drag the unwary to the heart of the Abyss.

"Just A Man" from Epic the Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans
This song made me think of when Maglor and Maedhros found Elrond and Elros after the 3rd kinslaying in the first age. Of course I had to then translate it. I split the lyrics up a bit, so they both had lines. (Also left out the chorus in the transcriptions)

I keep talking about it with my friend that is a literally has an Arwen quote tattooed on her shoulder level LOTR fan how funny it is that back in 2020 I learned how to read/write Tengwar as a language along with a lot of elf lore without picking up any actual plot of Tolkien’s works. It was my way of honoring my grandma who had passed that year and was a huge Tolkien fan (proof: her shelf after shelf of official and unofficial books, artwork, maps, etc) while I sort of struggled through the first parts of Fellowship.
I was out here transcribing all my friend’s names into one of the ultimate nerdy alphabets of the world without knowing more then “LOTR is about Frodo more than Bilbo” and “Tom Bombadil is a chad” absolutely insane behavior

this was originally practice for my phonemic english tengwar mode with inherent vowel schwa but it got. a bit out of hand lol. tenchnically the mode’s still under construction but that’s mostly bc I’m running into issues with the guide I wrote for it (mainly font & accessibility issues)
both the ipa and the tengwar transcripts are based on how I personally would pronounce the prophecy if I were to read it aloud slowly & carefully. which is to say I don’t sound that much like a stuck up ass irl lmao. the ipa is mostly based on geoff lindsey’s transcription guidelines for standard southern british, with a few adjustments. also I didn’t use stress markers in monosyllabic words bc I’m lazy
