3, 12, & 17 for the AO3 asks!
Hi TC!!! Thank you for the ask!!!
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Probably the first piece I ever posted this year, actually. It was a songfic that I tried to change my style for and explore some character work. It was experimental and I thought it came out well!
If I Could Sleep
12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
In total? Too many to count. That I actually plan on working on? Only two at the moment. I really want to finish revising my current WIP which I think is going to take the majority of the year 😅
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
It's definitely my AU version of Ozpin that I've been working on all year. I just feel really comfortable writing for him and it makes me feel happy :)

Secret blorbos from my brain (sort of)! Lin Mingxian & Xu Xiaolan.
This story is my love letter to shonen manga and also xianxia cultivation novels. So naturally these two are the homoerotic main character best friends/rivals except it's me so it's actually gay.
Lin Mingxian is a young cultivator who discovered some shady shit that his sect had done in the past, had a massive argument with the sect elders, and got thrown out. He really wants to prove that humans and yaoguai can live together, and that the actions his sect has taken in the past are not necessary. He's very kind, has excellent manners, and is a huge dweeb.
Xu Xiaolan is a young dragon who is kind of stranded among humans at the moment. He can be very guarded (for good reason) and has a grumpy personality, but he and Lin Mingxian hit it off immediately as friendly rivals and they travel across the continent together having adventures… At least until the plot catches up to them >:3 (it has a happy ending Of Course).
I love them both and I think about them all the time………. but I don't talk about the story much because even though it's gaining in popularity, a lot of people still don't know xianxia tropes very well? So it's hard to summarize to story and characters.
🙈secret blorbos are my favourite blorbos 🙈
I'm sorry - did you say
"the story is a love letter to Shonen Manga"
I am IN LOVE WITH THIS ALREADY @writingonesdreams come look come look !!!! There's dragons too 👀
Okay Lin sounds super relatable and loveable and his adventures sounds super interesting to follow!!!!
Lin meets a lovely dragon too omg okay where's the comic 👀 the web comic 👀 perhaps some art??? I would gobble that shit up!!! I also see a book of yours is coming out too. I'd buy the heck out of this one tho.
Also my brother is a teacher and if it's kid friendly I could totally throw this in the running for him to show his kids too since it seems super cute (and he makes sure to show his students queer stuff too so this seems like a perfect adventure to throw at them)
I have to admit I don't know xianxia tropes too well either, but if there's a post with good knowledge on it around here I'd love it if you could link me!!! You're making these tropes sound super interesting 👀👀👀

J and B!
Hi, TC! Thanks for the ask!
J is for Julia
Julia Corvi looks like a cinnamon roll but actually can kill you. Her strength comes from looking really sweet and innocent, so no one suspects her of anything. She and Novellia bond pretty quickly, because of how much Julia reminds Novellia of Cloelia. She has a natural trepidation of magic, but also thinks it's kind of cool (picture the feeling you get when you watch someone do a dangerous science experiment- that looks fun, I just hope it doesn't kill us).
B is for Basilio
The worst human being imaginable. Sometimes I can't believe he came from my brain. He was born into a position of relative wealth and comfort, but it wasn't enough for him. He envies anyone who has anything he doesn't, and literally started a war and killed hundred of people to overthrow the government of his country and become king. He devises new methods of execution just for people he hates, and uses people with magic (like my blorbo Giacomo) as his personal weapons. The reason he kills people with magic isn't because he thinks they're dangerous (that's just what he tells the world), it's because they have a source of power he can never access for himself. This man has absolutely no redeeming qualities but he's necessary to the plot.

Hi TC! Thanks for the ask!!! <3
💚Which book character do you relate to the most, and why?
This is a really, really hard question for me to answer, because I hardly ever relate to book characters. But I will say that I related a fair bit to the main character in On The Edge Of Gone by Corine Duyvis. She's an autistic girl whose special interest is cats, and who wants to be a veterinarian. I'm an autistic girl* who's obsessed with cats, and when I was a child I wanted to be a veterinarian. Not to mention that she struggles with finding a place where she is wanted and accepted and can be useful, and those are things I've also struggled with.
📖What is your favorite book-to-movie adaptation, and why?
Ironically, my favorite two movies that started out as books (Stardust and The Princess Bride) I've never read the books. But in terms of movies where I've read the book and seen the movie, my favorite BY FAR is Nimona. The movie and the book are so drastically different, they are almost telling different stories. But the heart of the story remains, and given that they were written at very different places in the author's life, it makes sense. In some ways, I even prefer the movie over the graphic novel!!! But both are truly incredible. I've had a copy of the graphic novel for YEARS now, so long that my copy has the author's deadname on the cover. It's the only graphic novel I've ever gotten this attached to, and it truly is a masterpiece, both in graphic novel form and in book form. I watched the movie for the 2nd time on Saturday night with my mom, which was a fun time.
Thanks again for the ask! Sorry for my long, rambly answers, but we all know I love to talk, lmao.

Hello! Happy Blorbo Blursday!
This is for the character redesign game! I got your ask and I put Veila in my queue :D
I'm sending Retta to you. She's the captain of a profitable merchant ship and has a very big personality. Retta is both a skilled swordfighter and an extremely eloquent speaker so one way or another, she is confident in her ability to handle any situation that might arise. She speaks multiple languages fluently and sails all over the world for trading purposes. Unfortunately for her crew she's really into puns and other wordplay jokes that they might not actually understand. Retta is excitable and often takes risks that other captains wouldn't but, like many sailors, she's still extremely superstitious.
Happy Blursday! Thanks so much for initiating this game, I'm having so much fun with it! I loved hearing about Retta so much, it was really fun to play with her description! At first I envisioned her with waves of flaming red curly hair, but then I changed my mind--you'll have to let me know how close I am! 💛

Happy Blorbo Blursday! I have a one track mind, will you tell me more about Cricket? Or perhaps share a snippet that he is in?
Oh you absolutely may!! This message gave me the biggest shot of serotonin. As I was fleshing out Cricket's character, my literal first thought was the hope that he would become someone's favorite. He's one of the the oddest, skrunkliest blorbos in The Hour and I'm glad he has a fan!! Thank you for your interest!!! ;A; <3
He's a little snippet that also shares a little bit of his backstory and personality. Enjoy!!! 🦗
Context: The party of Krieve, Godric, Salma, Fahad, and Jaisse ran into uhhh a pretty big monster problem through the abyssal weald on the way into Correlaine. Cricket is patching the twins up here!
In the repurposed refectory, the crackpot savant himself was in an animated conversation with Salma and Fahad, both sitting encouragingly upright on a cot. The two looked weary but healthy, all under the caring watch of Mage Warden Mauve who appeared to have a death grip on two mugs she was holding just out of reach.
“-and the knight is under your care,” Mauve said delicately. “Magical exhaustion is under my purview, and certainly for guests to the kingdom.”
“‘Guests’!” Cricket scoffed. “They are my kinspeople! New Nobelian blood embraces experimentation!”
Mauve placed the mugs of dubious contents on a side table behind her, then turned back to Salma and Fahad. “And your land has standards,” she said to them with a pleasant nod. “Which is why your council revoked his medical license. The Medic Warden is a brilliant man, but do not try anything of his that is untested.”
“Over a decade ago,” Cricket dismissed with a wave. “The council was much fussier back then--Cyrus the Great wasn’t among them yet.”
“Oh! We met Cyrus once, you know!” Salma said, her eyes gleaming.
“I have a signed portrait of him in my dorm!” Fahad added.
“A man also known for some dubious ethics…” Mauve said.
“Leading to the most important magical advancement this side of the Hour has seen!” Cricket said as the twins turned, openmouthed, to Mauve. “I don’t see you turning down chickadee posts just because he may have exploded a bird here or there before getting the enchantment correct.” Cricket turned to Fahad and Salma. “You know, some days I really miss being surrounded by civilized people,” he said with a grave nod. “Welcome, welcome indeed.”
“I’m just saying,” Mauve continued. “Someone banished from Magnolia for animal cruelty isn’t exactly role-model material.”
Cricket tutted. “Born in Correlaine and studied in New Nobelia, yet some days you sound like a real Crest-”
“Medic Warden!” Jaisse said, stepping into the room.
Also tagging @avrablake who asked to be tag in Hour stuff since this is a bigger than normal chunk of it!

Bracken opened his beak in another grin. "I guess the one in the tower is you. Maybe he'll use his sword and come rescue you."
He only laughed as Iskandar shoved him away. "Don't be stupid! When would I ever need to get rescued?"
"Yes, yes, big powerful witches don't ever need to be rescued." Then he stood up and shook himself, fluffing all his feathers and laying them neatly back down. "Enough of this anyway. Why don't we do something useful and go hunt up some rare ingredients or something."
Iskandar was glad of the distraction. He stood up as well. "There are a few things we've been running out of, especially rare animal parts. Are you feeling up to actually using your brain today?"
"Hey now," Bracken said. "It is in fact you who should perhaps embrace the brainless life. Too much thinking never leads to anything good."
"So you say." Iskandar agreed. He rested his hand on Bracken's shoulder, right between the wings, and they moved off he together into the deeper parts of the forest.

5 & 25!
thank you!!
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
i don't think so? that's probably a boring answer x)
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
i somehow have a whole backstory for the ghost lady who lives in ariel's apartment and takes care of the fern in the hallway despite the fact that she never appears in the whole story aside from one or two remarks about her existing. at least so far! maybe i can actually make her relevant some time? who knows xD

For whatever couple you are working on: 3, 11, 43 ^__^
I'm gonna ramble so much, but I appreciate the ask and the interest all the same! I've been working on my RWBY AU fic all month, and I am getting into the depths of Oz and Qrow's relationship arc, so I answered these for them XD thank you!!!!!
3. What was their first impression of each other?
Oz's impression of Qrow: a friendly interest. What I would describe as a school friend crush. The adult equivalent of "This kid seems cool and popular, I hope he likes me, maybe we can have a real conversation at some point."
Qrow's impression of Oz: immediately impressed with him. In a "this man has done more in the past five years than I have my whole life" kind of way. He puts up a decent front of being seemingly indifferent because he doesn't want to seem desperate or weird.
11. How do they feel about nicknames/pet names? If they like them, what pet names do they use? If they hate them, why do they feel that way?
Oz tends to like them, sticking with "darling," "sweetheart," and "love" most of the time. He picked them up from his mom, and he only calls three people "love" the whole story. His partner, his closest friend, and his son :)
Qrow is indifferent to them. He doesn't tend to use them himself, but he'll throw in an exaggerated "honey" or "sweetheart" when he's being playful. To him, using "Oz" is its own pet name because no one else calls him that :)
43. If they picked out outfits for each other, what would they look like?
I'm not much for fashion, so I'm sticking with basic descriptions 😅 but Oz would probably go to pick out something fancy for Qrow. He doesn't get a chance to dress that nice in his everyday life, but Oz knows that Qrow feels confident when he wears something with a fancier style that fits just right.
Qrow, on the other hand, would get something casual and fun and "everyday" in style, because my god, no matter what, Oz always looks like he's ready for a business meeting. Which looks fine, but like damn! There are other styles, Oz, come on.

Happy Blorbo Blursday!
For a character of your choice, what's their favorite time of year and why?
Cronyl’s favorite time of the year is winter.
He lived near the border, where winter brings snow, since in the captial (Evalon) there is usually only cold weather, but never enough for the snow to fall. So he grew up having snow around, and with that, he experienced how it feels and looks like, when the world quiets. When every mundane, rushing days slow and linger. When people forced to spend more time each other and lean on each other in a more challanging time. When, for some, magic happens.

I would like to know, which of your characters do you genuinely think you would enjoy hanging out with if they really existed? What would you do together?
Hi! Thanks for the ask!
I think the character I would most enjoy hanging out with if they were real is probably Livia or Isabella.
Reason being, I gave Novellia a lot of my own struggles and issues.. These are the two people in the story who best understand and care about her, so I know they would be really sympathetic if I had similiar problems.
On a lighter note, I really would want to hang out with Enrico. Just to find out wtf is going on in his head.

Happy World Building Wednesday!
We're approaching that time, so does your work have any kind of solstice festival? Or New Year's festival? What are the traditions?
Hi TC! Thanks for the ask! This is actually a really good question!!
So, in the world of ATQH, there are a few different festivals that take place every year. The ones that I mention in the story are:
Midsummer / Summer Solstice (relatively similar to Midsummer in the real world), which happens on a date equivalent to June 21st.
Harvest Festival (somewhat analogous to "OctoberFest"if your location has such a thing. But also has some elements of Halloween and Thanksgiving mixed in.) which happens on a date equivalent to October 31st.
Winter Solstice (somewhat equivalent to a combo Christmas and New Year's, but doesn't have religious origins), which happens on a date equivalent to December 21st.
Midwinter, which happens on a date equivalent to February 21st.
I'll talk about the traditions for each under the cut, since I worry this is going to get rather long. (I'm focusing on Anvia and Anvia's traditions and celebrations, since that is where the story takes place, and if I were to talk about traditions and holidays in Oraine and Oryn, we'd be here til next year.)
Midsummer / Summer Solstice
Most commonly referred to as just "Midsummer", this is generally a very cheerful and happy festival, held to celebrate the longest day of the year. The celebration involves feasting and dancing. Small towns or villages will have one massive town feast where they put tables outside and everyone is invited. Larger towns will have more concentrated or divided celebrations, kind of like block parties, I guess. In rural areas, it's traditional to light a bonfire when it gets dark out. Music and dancing is a huge part of the tradition, and there's usually nonstop music from the time the party starts until it's end.
Floral decorations are very common, as well as bright and colorful fabrics. It's common to see houses with colorful ribbons hanging from their eaves, or wrapped around fences. It's generally considered a bad idea to wear dark and dour clothing to a Midsummer celebration, since it is a celebration of life and growth. Colors like yellow, green, as well as floral colors like light pinks, purples, or blues are most common.
At the Palace, there's always a ball held on Midsummer, with a feast held before it. The general air is a bit more formal, as it always is when royalty and nobles are involved, but the air of joy and celebration remains.
Harvest Festival
Harvest festival happens at the very end of the harvest season, once every crop has been harvested. It is also celebrated with a feast, with every farmer in a village donating a portion of their harvest to the meal. Ale is also a common part of the celebration, as well as perhaps wine among the more "upper class" folks. Less dancing for the common folk for this one, and more of just a celebration of being together. (Though dancing is still likely to happen.) A person is liable to have at least one drunk relative crashing at your place by the end of the day, which can be good or bad, depending on the relative.
It's a celebration of being thankful that the harvest has been successful, and marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of preparations for winter. Decorations include taking down your scarecrows and dressing them up in silly clothing, as well as using excess produce you are unable to preserve as decorations. (Some things like gourds, pumpkins, etc. will be carved for decorations.) Extra animals that might not survive the winter or would be too expensive to feed are killed and prepared as food for the feast. The idea is that as little should go to waste as possible. If it cannot be saved or preserved for winter, then it will be used for for the harvest festival in some way.
Every year, the Palace holds a masquerade ball for the Harvest festival. The exact origins of the reasoning for the masquerade are uncertain, but this tradition has been ongoing for at least a century at this point, and it's a beloved tradition.
Winter Solstice
Winter solstice takes place near the end of the year, on the shortest day of the year, and is somewhat of a combination between Christmas and New Years in our world, I suppose. It is traditional to exchange gifts with loved ones on the Solstice. It is also traditional to light candles as the sun begins to set, and at the end of the night, around midnight, each person blows out their candle and makes a wish.
It's a celebration of looking back at the year, reflecting on what has happened, and having hopes for the future. It's also general a more cozy and relaxed holiday, in comparison to the potentially raucous or overwhelming celebrations of Midsummer or Harvest.
Aside from the candles, traditional decorations include winter-growing plants. Another tradition is the making and eating of Solstice Cookies, which come in many shapes, and are usually elaborately decorated. (However one of the most common shapes is that of a stylized sun.)
Midwinter
Midwinter happens early in the new year, at the point when the worst of winter is supposed to have passed. It's a celebration of having made it through the worst of it, and that spring will soon be here. (Its origins are among farmers, relieved to have had enough stores for the winter, and that their animals have survived, etc.) It's one of the smaller celebrations of the bunch, with the least defined traditions. But it's generally a very happy and positive celebration.
While each individual family might celebrate it in their own way, the Palace traditionally holds a ball on Midwinter. In rural areas, people might pull out the best of the food they have, or splurge and bake a cake or other fancy dessert.
(Side note: While Midwinter isn't a very defined holiday in terms of traditions, it's probably the most important one in my story, seeing as it's the night that Lavinia attacks Fallon...)
