not me scrambling to get this blog up and running last minute asdhsjdh — anyways, hi ! i’m euni and this is raon, sassy disenfranchised figure skating prodigy who’s got hella repressed imposter syndrome or smthn. you can find more about my boy and some wanted plots under the cut ,, ok yea bye see y’all on discord ✨ ( or ims too if that’s what you prefer ☃️ )

about

starden born and raised, babyy. his family was one of the original settlers when the islands were discovered and inhabited 100 yrs ago or smthn like that. lives w mom and dad in an old, seaside cottage lookin thing and helps his fam run sorae’s sashimi restaurant by serving tables and is in charge of all the fun customer service stuff cause he can’t cook or fish to save his life :)

mom signed him up for figure skating classes when he was like 5 out of her obsession with 80′s and 90′s olympic skaters. no one expected him to go onto win regional and national competitions throughout middle and high school but here we are!!

was suuuuper serious abt making a career out of skating and had his eyes set on the olympics eventually. behold: an opportunity arises to attend uni in the states and train at the skating club of boston. this folks, is it ! this is gonna be his Moment.

timing was bad though — mom was physically not doing well but refused to take a break from working at the restaurant. but also a part of him was kinda scared ?? he started to worry about not being good enough for something so big compared to his comfortable little starden bubble. think big fish little pond vs big fish big pond type thing.

even tho it hurt he decided to turn down the offer and stay on starden, using his mom’s health as an excuse to stay behind but deeeep down a part of it is also bc he’s kinda got imposter syndrome and is scared of not getting all the attention he’s grown used to in a larger Big City setting.

presently his fam is doing much better and the option of furthering his career is def there but he’s kinda just ,, ignoring it cause he’s all like, y’all nEED me here alright ?? what are his fam and friends gonna do if he leaves ? that’s right. u need him here. he’s staying. or at least this is what he uses to justify his fear of taking the leap when it comes his skating aspirations.

you can still find him on the ice — he’s not giving it up completely but yea basically he’s j chillin rn tyvm ! just trying to live what he idealizes as his Best Life by doing stupid things w his friends ,, spontaneous trips ,, partying ,, u kno ,, he’s just trying to make up for his lost olympic career by living it up !!

boy’s got a big of an ego. it comes w the whole almost olympian, star athlete thing, sorry. likes to have fun but with a particular clique of ppl he deems ~elite~ has little to no patience for things or ppl he deems as unworthy of his time and presence cause he’s kinda pretentious like tht. blame it on the almost fame i guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

but i promise he’s generally friendly-ish ,, a bit sassier than most would like but overall not horrible company. he just craves external validation and attention but tries to act like an unbothered cool kid w clout and a put together fun life ya feel ?

Helena:

- She doesn't like standing out in a crowd because she is shy af and doesn't like all eyes to go on her. She could go out in a pair of jeans, a plain tshirt, no makeup or hairdo and be happy with the way she is.

- She likes a simple, romantic relationship with a lot of cuddles, cheek kisses and hand holding.

- Her dream life is living in a cottage in the middle of nowhere with her favorite person and a pet and just enjoy the simple things in life without worrying about anything.

- She is pretty vanilla in bed tbh. But if her lover wants something more spicy, she is up for it as long as it isn't too much

Ada:

- She is incredibly high maintenance. Always has to be lookin top. Has at least one Birkin in her closet.

- She wouldn't be disappointed if she isn't gifted something expensive but definitely wouldn't enjoy it as much

@darlingflight : just out of curiosity, do you have any thoughts on evie’s outfits in the movie, especially outfits like her coronation and cotillion dresses ?

i absolutely love talking fashion so this made me excited !! i actually talked about the closing numbers throughout all three desc movies in THIS post, where i criticized the original looks in the tags and replaced them with a better version, one that evie would have actually designed with her skillset.

her casual outfits, i feel, were quite perfect for her, especially as the movies went on. her style in d1 starts off as this semi-formal punk vibe, where she’s very obviously breaking away from the isle fashion. in d2, it’s full on auradon girl with small takes of avant garde, especially when placed in auradon. there’s some incorporation of the leather, and i really enjoyed her d2 casual outfits. the same goes for her d3 outfits, excluding the ugly opening number isle outfit and the pants in her outfit when talking with mal in her little cottage.

with the “ending” outfits, including coronation, cotillion, and the engagement party, i thought they were all atrocious, inexpensive looking, amateurish, trashy, and quite frankly, an insult to a designer / seamstress goddess like evie.

for the coronation, it’s obviously an extremely formal event, where full-length gowns and tuxedos are expected. every single look during the movie coronation looked like a sad excuse of a high school prom from the early 2000s, like who approved of those ? it’s actually embarrassing. they shoved evie in this blue dress with shredded ruffles and that horrible tulle / mesh fabric that was just executed poorly, gold mesh attached to the top of that humiliatingly crafted bodice ( the bodice lookin’ like some take on a wrinkled scrotum ) with weird gem embellishments and a whimsy cape ? a mess. a hot mess. i’m not even gonna touch on the shoes. every part of it was ugly, and it was embarrassing. evie would never design nor wear it.

cotillion is another formal event, but less restrictive than coronation, so people had more freedom with style. her cotillion’s dress felt more suited for a middle aged woman. it had such an ugly silhouette, not at all flattering to her form. it actually pains me to watch the cotillion scenes because of how ugly it is. i don’t dislike the patterns and subtle embellishments used, nor do i dislike the color or the use of fabric. i don’t hate the neckline, but god, the bottom of it was just so bad. had there been a leg slit, or more of an a-line silhouette, it would’ve been so much better.

the party at the end of d3, i felt had a cocktail party vibe, so that was the guideline i went with. there’s a lot of freedom with cocktail party attire, but evie’s fit was not okay. that droopy fabric just hanging there felt like toilet paper. i actually liked the upper part of it, with the high attachment of the puffed sleeve, but i felt it could’ve been executed better so it didn’t look like a giant claw. the concept was there, but the end result was disappointing. it’s actually my most hated look from her tbh. the look overall was not flattering nor demonstrative of her talent as a designer.

so, tl;dr. i hated them all.
