From sprinkler splashes
To fireplace ashes
I gave my blood,
Sweat and tears for this
I hosted parties and starved my body, like I’d be saved by a perfect kiss
The jokes weren’t funny, I took the money. My friend from home don’t know what to say
I looked around in a blood-soaked gown and I saw something they can’t take away
‘Cause there were pages turned
With the bridges burned
Everything you lose is a step you take

Annabeth blasting would’ve could’ve should’ve in her bunk. Hazel coming in after hearing it a bunch and just wanted to ask who the song was by because she never heard such a song that described her. Annabeth, who was busy blaring the lyrics told her everything about why she liked the song (silena Beauregard old vinyl player and Sally buying her the Midnights vinyl as a farewell gift before she headed off to California). Hazel sitting down on Annabeth’s bed, breaking down over never knowing what girlhood is. Annabeth hesitantly asking if she could bring Piper into the conversation. Hazel nodding, confused. Piper showing up with big smiles and holding hazel’s hand. Delicately annabeth explained what her stolen girlhood was, and Piper hers. Together the three of them cried to would’ve could’ve should’ve.
(Bonus mention).
(Percy not seeing annabeth in so long. The ship was too quiet even with leo tinkering in his room, especially with 6 adhd demigods aboard. He opened her door.
“Beth-“
In a flurry of blankets and limbs, the three girls were all cuddled asleep. An old vinyl, one that he remembers when the Aphrodite cabin got a hold of Camp’s loud speaker and all he heard for weeks was Taylor’s Swifts Reputation, playing the same few lyrics.)
(Give me back my girlhood. It was mine first.)
