I truly cannot recommend this show enough
I think it borders on the edge of just a little too silly, and the second season ending was rushed, but it has so many moments of pure brilliance and existential terror and the Taurnado really highlights that
I also recommend listening to the album version, because it's mixed so beautifully and I prefer it to the one in the scene

I'm re-watching Centaurworld and this is still one of my favorite scenes ( the song is also amazing like wtf)
Tumblr media
Go watch it if you haven't! Nothing compares to crying about a show with dumb centaurs that shoot tiny versions of themselves out of their hooves

My favorite worldbuilding moments in media
Spoilers: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Centaurworld, Hollow Knight
As humans in today’s age and world we are constant consumers to media of nearly infinite varieties. I myself take a long time to start new media or dive into new hobbies, it’s just a trait of mine.
When I do I’ll admit I’m hard to please, and will often not finish shows, movies, or books because they didn’t grasp a part of me enough. This does mean though that if it’s something I love I will latch onto for likely the rest of my life (until a bigger corporation or something comes along to ruin it)
Here are 3 of my favorite worldbuilding moments in media
Sweat Bending (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Tumblr media
Avatar: The Last Airbender is known as a masterpiece of worldbuilding, and it got that reputation for a reason. There were tons of moments in this show that blew my inner worldbuilder away, but this isn’t a blog piece about Avatar: The Last Airbender, so I needed to pick one moment that stuck out to me.
Which to me the moment I decided upon is when Katara sweatbends while being trapped within a fire nation prison. This was an amazing worldbuilding moment. I watched the character accidentally learn and rediscover this ability, without it ever really feeling cheap to me. It’s also such a cool moment for the waterbenders in the story in general, because it only posed more questions for the future of Katara’s abilities.
Also girl is a badass, who doesn’t love a badass in stories.
Taurnado (Centaurworld)
Tumblr media
I watched this early last year during a really tough time in my life. Even though everyone was trashing on the characters and story, I didn’t care at all. This was fun to watch and really made my terrible days brighter. Plus I watched it with my brother who rarely ever watched things with me anymore, and we were both laughing.
However when this scene came on, us two worldbuilding nerds got chills, and the amazing soundtrack to come with it didn’t help. It really gave the show the magic I realized it was going for, and further explored on the idea that everything is a centaur in centaurworld, even their threats. It was a great moment with the characters, showing the dynamic and stakes between the characters.
And every few months I listen to the song once again because they did amazing with that one.
The Infection (Hollow Knight)
Tumblr media
I bought Hollow Knight one day on a whim, as I was starving for something challenging yet smooth to play. I settled on it after buying it on for my switch, and upon booting it up would discover that I accidentally began  a journey that would play an important role in my life.
After beating one of the major areas I decided I’d return back to Dirtmouth. Often in video games I refuse to use fast travel frequently, as I love enjoying the atmospheres developed. Upon entering crossroads my perception of the game I already fell in love with completely changed.
The music entered my bones, the change in scenery of a familiar places sent shivers down my spine, and a wave dread for the fictional world washed over me. The stakes were always there, but like every video gamer you never act like they are, this reminded me of them.
It was an amazing worldbuilding moment, and moment in video gaming in general, and I don’t expect to ever forgot it.

Go watch Centaurworld, it needs more love. It's only 2 Seasons (18 episodes), and it's a really hopeful look at grief, friendship and family. I would say that it's on par with Steven Universe in terms of nuanced takes on trauma. The second season feels a bit rushed and barebones, especially with the Steven Universe comparison in mind. But this makes sense when you compare how much time Steven Universe was able to cook, both within the show and the fandom (I think that the progressive episode drops along with the lengthy hiatuses and hints of a deeper mystery allowed the Steven Universe fandom to grow and create a lot of wonderful fan content. This is something that the streaming/binging environment doesn't allow for), and the second season and series overall is still amazing (I think I really just want more show).
I absolutely love the soundtrack and have most, if not all, of the songs memorized. I was inspired to write this post because I started crying while singing the final song of the show.
Go watch the show and come back so I can talk to you about it

⚠️ SEASON 3 SPOILERS ⚠️ Had this idea that wouldn't leave me alone until I frantically made it happen in under 24 hours! A mashup of Stranger Things (footage) and Centaurworld (audio). Kind of an ode to Billy Hargrove too. 😭

rough painting/sketch?? thing from my characters + environments class! we did a quick prompt for villains based on fears (the one i ended up getting was megalophobia/the fear of things that are Too Big)
weather and severe storms (and tornadoes specifically) have been a special interest of mine since childhood and it just so happened that many of the images you get when searching that fear were tornadoes so 100% used this as an excuse to draw a tornado... person? thing? sure yea.
this is real messy and i dont plan on revisiting this anytime soon but it works for what i needed it for!

is the "Rest now, tormented soul" phrase on your recently-posted art (beautiful btw!) possibly a centaurworld reference?
it is!! I like to listen to sad music a lot while I'm drawing, and I'm not immune to making song lyrics the titles for some of my art

whenever i listen to my embarrassingly gigantic playlist filled with just completely random songs that i like and have been thrown in there, it likes to play ‘Taurnado’ from Centaur World every time without missing a beat
and every time i hear it i immediately think about how the Nightmare Realm might just be built on top of Bill’s home dimension with all of the burnt second dimensional corpses
and what if they could manifest themselves (via ‘left-over’ Nightmare Realm madness magic whatever) into a giant ghost or spirit type creature (akin to the Taurnado) - all working together as one giant organism - to just fuck with Bill for killing them. roaming around the waste of a dimension or appearing during storms (if they even have those there) or just randomly to scare the shit outta ppl

[Plain text ID: two digital drawings of an original Gravity Falls / Flatland crossover character named The Mosaic.
In the first photo, The Mosaic is depicted in it’s ‘line form’. It is a humanoid creature made up from various, small, monochrome shapes and lines and has a large glowing red eye for a head with a point on top and no pupil. It is holding out two of it’s hands to each side, while it's legs hang down loosely as though suspended in the air. A small depiction of Bill Cipher, a yellow triangle with a black top hat, and Kryptos, a teal rhombus, can be seen above The Mosaic’s right hand. The background is a very dark grey with a white circle that contains a light grey hexagon, a dark grey upside down triangle and an even darker grey line behind The Mosaic.
In the second photo, The Mosaic is depicted in one of it’s various ‘shape forms’ - as an isosceles triangle creature with limbs and a large centre yellow glowing eye made from smaller and monochrome shapes and lines. They are holding one arm slightly raised and a tiny depiction of Bill Cipher can be seen between their loosely pinched claws. The background is dark grey with lighter grey swirling patterns.
End ID.]

why did centaurworld choose such a mediocre season finale for their first season when the taurnado was right there. it was so much more haunting and powerful than any of the other songs, it REALLY made me think that we were gonna get other songs like it like.... you're going to use up the monolith of nature who sings as a thousand-voiced choir and tempts unwary fools in episode TWO??? EPISODE TWO??? the finale wasnt even that good, i dont even remember it whereas i still hum the taurnado song to myself. fucked up.

Epiphany: The Ahsoka show is just a worse Centaurworld.
Two worlds that are hard to travel between and characters keep getting stuck on one side of the other, a Backstory Limbo Dimension, jumping into sentient whales, a mind controlled black magic army, letting the Big Bad into your universe and trying to convince anyone else to care...
Ahsoka is Horse, Rider AND The Woman, both Anakin and Thrawn are the Nowhere King and Huyang is Comfortable Doug
I would have so much respect if ahsoka s2e1 included the line "and accidentally I released him. whoops-a-daisy"
