I kinda agree with the takes about Wakanda not being the victim. Not to say the Talocans are the victims or blameless. I think it's not good vs bad or Black vs white, it's grey vs grey. Namor was being peaceful until his friends were killed. Threatening but peaceful. Wakandans would have reacted the same way if it had been the other way around and one of their own had been killed.
But see how your take is reasonable and based on the actual plot of the movie? lol. I don't think anyone was a victim, exactly, in this movie. I mean, it's WAKANDA and the MCU version of ATLANTIS (Talokan). They are the two most powerful nations and peoples on the face of the MCU Earth. (And America stands no chance against either of them, tbh.)
I still maintain that holding a princess for ransom is an act of war. If I was writing a similar plot line in my worldbuilding, that would be enough for the other kingdom to strike. It's enough in most stories. Even Mario is about Mario going to fight King Koopa to rescue Princess Peach (Not exactly war because it's a children's video game, but you know what I mean.)
But that doesn't mean Wakanda is a victim. It means that they were not the aggressor. Namor was NOT afraid of Wakanda and had no reason to believe he wouldn't win should they go to war. Especially with Wakanda having no Black Panther at that point. He knew what he was doing. He was not playing nice. My boy doesn't play nice lol, let's not pretend he thought he was playing nice. He knew what he was doing.

I do have to say that some of my misgivings with the portrayal of the talokanil and talokan in general stems from the fact that they didn't wear actual armor (contrary to popular belief, mesoamerican warriors didn't just wear strips of leather, they had elite / royal forms of intricate detailing and metal / jade inlays), and that it didn't fully represent just how advanced cities like tenochtitlan were for their time. We're talking about cities that had advanced plumbing, plazas, huge temples and palaces that were so intricately detailed that it still stands to this day for everyone to admire. If they were that advanced then, imagine them now with the addition of vibranium?

My Queen, My Sun and My Sea
Tumblr media
talokan once had a queen. one who loved her people with all her heart—with the same heart she had given to her k'uk'ulkan for what felt like millennia ago. but they lost her to the hands of the enemy; it was a tragic tale painted on the walls of the king's mural, the pain searing itself onto his heart uninvited. he rules now with a darkened hole in his chest, fueled by the loss of his true love and a force to protect his people even more. after all, only the most broken people can be great leaders.
pairing: namor x fem!talokan!reader
warnings: bpwf spoilers!! death (i was lowkey evil for that), colonizers, inaccurate translations, nawt very proofread lol

El Niño Sin Amor.
That was a name that echoed deep inside Shuri's head, its bitter aftertaste lingering still; a piece of Namor that she'd just uncovered.
He was an enigma; a powerful being who rose from the sea, unannounced with his presence but has always been there, deep in the waters where he and his kingdom have flourished in the city of Talokan. He had just finished recounting about his and his people's origins, how the colonizers brought a disease that left his ancestors to drink a concoction from a vibranium-infused plant found in an underwater cave to save themselves, turning them into water-breathing individuals; the Talokanil.
She turned to Namor with many questions unanswered, only to see him staring at something with a look akin to pain and longing on one of the surfaces on his murals, caressing the painting with a gentleness she had yet to seen from the god.
She shifted to the side quietly, trying to see what he was gazing at. When Namor bowed his head, Shuri saw a painting of a woman beside his serpent, posing regally with what looked like a staff in her hand.
She wore a beautiful jade and gold headpiece, green and brown feathers lining the outer layer, fading in its design as if the light was shining on them. It towered atop her figure, framing her perfectly like she was always meant to be there. She was adorned in jewelry, from the large, circular green jade plugs that hung from her ears to the tessellated necklace that she wore—a striking amalgamation of gleaming silver beads, plated viridescent tiles to carved gold pendants and everything that complemented her beauty. The woman had a tan clothe wrapped around her body, washes of terracotta and hues of sage and cream woven in stripes on the fabric. She was covered in jewels—just like Namor.
One thing for sure, she must have been of royalty in Talokan. Or a goddess, perhaps. The corks in Shuri's head turned as she tried to figure out where the woman in the mural fit in Namor's story.
"Who is that?" Her question seemed to break him out of his reverie. She could see the way his body tensed at her question, and whether it was because she cut him out of his thoughts of because of what she asked, she didn't know.
It took a quiet moment before Namor answered, looking in deep contemplation with his eyebrows furrowed deeply and his eyes growing darker. The next thing he uttered was so full of emotion that it flooded through the sentence, his voice sounding thicker than blood.
"Leti' ka'ach in reina. My queen. In k'iino' ka, in k'áak'náabo'."
(She was my queen. My sun and my sea.)
For a second her words refused to make it out of her mouth. The Wakandan princess' mind didn't wonder to Namor having a queen.
The Namor now wasn't like the Namor she had met in the shores of her land with her mother. The Namor now felt like a broken man who would go the farthest lengths to protect his people. With every counting second of being in this underwater cave, Shuri seemed to discover more and more about the man, slowly laying bare the walls he had built around himself.
"Is she-"
"She was.. she was killed by surface dwellers." The god cut off, as if he couldn't bear to hear the words coming out from someone else's lips. He closed his eyes for a moment and Shuri felt the sea grow quiet for a split second. It was like it remembered their lost queen.
He took a deep breathe before speaking out and if one were to listen closely, they could hear the slight shakiness in his voice, like talking about this particular incident tore his wounds open again. "Years ago the surface dwellers tried to find Talokan. They were told of an underwater city filled with glittering gold and diamonds, with a palace of precious metals whose value exceeds all else."
"They are greedy, always taking and taking what is not theirs—beasts who ravage land with no mind of its consequences. She was there where the land met the waters along with the young ones, and those monsters crossed paths with them." Namor shook his head, disdain present in the way he moved his body and his words.
"The first thing they did they raised their weapons, pointing it at her when all she did was offer them her hands. She tried to speak to them, to negotiate with peace and kindness. But they are blinded with hatred." He spat that word out and Shuri almost flinched at his tone.
"With no mercy they killed her and the children. They took their lives as if it was nothing to them."
"When I emerged to the surface.. she was already dying."
One of your handmaids had been the one to inform him of the situation, barging into his mural room right when he got back from a trip with a growing panic in her eyes as she screamed in anguish, 'Le reina! Le reina!'
"I turned to those murderers and treated them with how they treated my wife and the children; I killed them with no mercy."
The feathered serpent god will never forget the possessing rage he felt when he saw what those killers did to his wife. Without a single doubt in his movements he flew towards them like a strike of lightning and sliced their heads off before they could even scream.
Something that would always haunt his dreams was seeing his beloved die in his arms, unable to do anything, running out of time.
Sometimes, if the K'uk'ulkan thought too much about it, he could still feel the way he held you in his arms, the jarring coldness of your body that surged across his skin like a bloodthirsty frostbite.
Your hair fell in a pool beneath your head, encrusted with blood that he didn't know where it came from. There was too much, too much of it that slithered around your body. With trembling hands he supported the back of your neck, bringing your face closer as he cradled your cheeks in his palms.
"Ma', ma', in puksi'ik'al.. jaap wicho'ob, láayli' ma' jach a súutuko'," he pleaded, heart racing a thousand beats at your weakened state. His fingers stroked your temples, tracing the skin from your eyebrows to the high point of your cheek and you swore you would forever savor the feel of his skin on yours.
(No, no, my heart.. open your eyes, it's not your time yet,)
"It's al-..right, in amado." You choked out, holding the hand that held your face and leaning onto his palms with whatever energy you had left in you. It was getting harder to open your eyes or even speak, the hole in your chest rampaging your body like an unquenched beast.
"In ku. Let go, K'ukulkan. Ts'o'ok in meentik le ba'ax táan des-.. destinado in beetik waye'.. je'el u páajtal in je'elel bejla'e'.."
(They call me. I've done what I was meant to do here.. I can rest now..)
He ignored your terrifying acceptance and gently quieted you, pressing his lips onto your forehead in deep fervor. "Save you words, in yaakunaj-"
Namor's heart threatened to jump right out of his chest when he felt your hand go slightly limp, desperately taking it above the crook of his neck, right where the ends of his jaw met his ears. The king held onto you so tightly, trying to keep you grounded with him in the world of the living as if the warmth of his body would spread life to your decaying one. He saw you smile peacefully, like his touch rejuvenated you for a single beat, slowly yet surely stroking the tip of his pointed ears as you've always done whenever you had the chance to. It was a small act of affection that Namor fell weak to, and he couldn't contain the abrupt cry that fell from his lips at the familiar gesture.
"K'a'as a puksi'ik'al yéetel a-.. a yaakunaj, in ajawo'," but even then your stubborn and insistent nature persevered. You spoke with only him and your love for him in mind, silently telling him that this will not be the end. That despite after all this when you will no longer be there to tell him just how beloved and brave he is, he should still remember what he had learned—what he had taught you. You hoped that it would keep him grounded and true, still fierce but with compassion and empathy.
(Remember your heart and your love, my king,)
"In.. yaakunech," and you let our your final breathe, the light in your eyes no longer shining as you stared up into nothing. At the least you looked content to pass to the afterlife in your husbands arms, a gentle lift on the corner of your lips to signify that you've moved on. But along with your departure you tore apart of Namor that he didn't think could ever be replaced—left him with a half-ripped heart and as a shell of the man he once was.
(I love you)
Now, kneeling on the prickling pearly sand tainted with weeping carmine, he was not a god. He was not the king of a powerful underwater nation, he was not a lethal mutant, a hero, a villain, or a protector. No, he was just a man. A man whose heart had been punctured with a hole in the shape of his beloved.
He screamed at the world with the voice of someone who had just lost everything, scorning the surface dwellers with a burning pit of anger and vengeance in his blackened heart. It echoed around the area, bleeding onto every rock, every blade of grass and every tree with his promise of death. The sea grew restless, mirroring the raging currents in his soul.
Namor choked a cry, closing your eyes as his hands shook with grief and pain, body threatening to collapse under his heartbreak. He brought your face closer to his, resting his forehead against yours while he scrunched his eyes closed, disbelieving and mourning of the loss of his beloved. Because no matter how much he begged, how much he cried for you, you would never come back to him, never blessing him with that delicate smile on your face again. The god stayed there for what felt like hours and days, whispering sweet goodbyes, harrowing sobs and promises to avenge you.
When he carried your cold body to Talokan, the people could only stare in shock and despair over the loss of their darling queen. In their eyes you were one of the most powerful people in the kingdom, not just because of your position, but because of your compassion and your love—something that knew no bounds.
It was a painful and gut-wrenching experience, to bury his own wife. It brought him back to the time where he had to do the same to his own mother, to cover her in clothe and put a piece of maize inside her mouth.
"The surface dwellers have taken so much. Talokan's queen, our home and our freedom. I will not let them do so again." Namor had a scathing look in his eyes, a latent tone of tiredness from facing a world that only took from him.
"She must have been an amazing queen and a strong woman." Shuri could only utter these words with a solemn expression on her face, unable to reply to such vulnerability of someone she had considered a dangerous enemy. Despite that.. there was an underlying empathy between the two. Shuri understood him. She knew the pain of losing someone you love.
"She was." A calm visage eventually spread around his face as he looked up at the glorious mural depicted on the walls of the room. "She had the biggest heart and the kindest soul."
Namor couldn't help but get lost in his memories of his beautiful wife. He speaks no lies when he describes you. You were the people's queen, as what the Talokanil called you. You'd always visit the people, play games with the children and scour the underwater markets that sold all kinds of trinkets and foods. Whenever the people needed you you were always there, willing to help them without a second glance as you opened your heart to them all.
After you death, whenever he would swim around Talokan and talk to his people—laughing and joking around with them—there would be this.. serene melody inside his heart, a gentleness that ran through his veins. Namor would feel the water pulsing on the pads of his skin and he'd always take a moment to close his eyes to relish the feeling. Then a smile would make it onto his face—the kind of smile that you would always tell him to show more often. His people felt it too, like a warm embrace to their soul, as if you were watching over them, still caring about them even when you were gone.
It was not only to Talokan's people, but to the ocean's animals too.
If there was one thing about his queen, it was that you had a deep affinity with the marine animals. Whenever the king couldn't find you anywhere in your room or in the palace halls, Namor would only smile to himself and swim to the clearing of the sea just outside of Talokan, watching his wife croon along the whales and the orcas, taking care of them as if your love spoke a thousand languages.
"In ch'ujuk, ko'oten paakat!" You would shout, gleefully waving your hand up in the air with no care in the world.
(My sweet, come and look!)
Sometimes he would only stay back and watch you with eyes so tender that it looked like he was entirely captivated by you. By your voice, your laughter, your smile; your everything. Other times, Namor would be too taken by you (as he always was), deciding to join you play with the creatures that you'd called 'your babies'. Whirling and chasing them around them felt like dancing in the water and Namor was too in love to ever deny you of your little joy.
Even now whenever the whales would call out to the sea, or when the orcas whistled and clicked along, he could still hear your radiant laughter singing along with them and oh how he longed to hear that sound again, to hear the melody of the ocean in its fullness.
You were simply the glue to Talokan; everyone adored the queen.
Until now, your throne still sat next to his, the jade and vibranium never ceasing to glow. Every time he sat there, watching over his people and celebrating his kingdom with defiant shouts of "L'ik'ik Talokan" he would always remember your face, remember the proud look you had when you would raise your fist to your chest along with everyone. Your memory will never fade in the heart of Talokan, always lingering in the brightest places, comforting during troubling times, because you will always be a precious piece of the kingdom that neither he nor his people would forget.
If he brought the sun to his people, you were the sun to him.
"You and I, we are not so different, princess." He broke his train of thought.
"Those people only see us as threats because they know we are powerful. They will not stop until they have what they want. It is a danger to my kingdom and my people—a threat to your people too."
Finally, Namor turned his head to face Shuri, a determined aura lingering in his voice and in his expression. She felt compelled to stare back straight into his eyes, the conviction in his tone like a true king. "And so I offer you again."
"Join me, and we will never have to see our people suffer, to see our loved ones suffer. We will no longer mourn our losses and bury the dead for unjust cruelty."
"Together, we will watch the world burn."

Imagine agreeing to marry Namor to bring peace between Wakanda and Talokan
Warning: Spoliers for Black Panther Wakanda Forever
Tumblr media
"Your people would never accept an outsider as their queen." You scoffed moving your face away from his hand.
"You're the only human on the surface world who can visit Talokan without the confinement of a suit. Your power is truly limitless my people would see you as a Goddess. The same way they see me as a God, and they would happily bow down before you" Namor declared.
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion trying to figure out just how much he knew about your abilities. You'd only gone out into the ocean once to test the limits of your water manipulation. It turns out you were able to breathe underwater, and your body could withstand the pressure of the ocean. Namor must have been near the beach that day. Just how long had he been watching you?
"Princess you have to understand your power truly captivated me when I first witnessed it. A human able to become one with nature there must be a reason. The heavens above picked you to wield such power you belong on a throne." Namor said as if he could read your mind.
"My mother would never let you take me away from her" You tried again.
"You are not a child and can make your own decisions. I have no intention of forcing you to join me in Talokan, but if you choose to come with me willingly. What can she do?"
"We don't know or love with each other" You pointed out. That was the last argument you had under your belt.
Namor shook his head "kings and queens hardly marry out of love. The greatest of them tend to marry for power."
"I have plenty of power Namor."
He gently took you by chin bringing your face back to his. "Mi amour we can always learn how to love each other."
Your eyes locked onto his searching for any sign of deception, but there was none. His expression softened as your breath hitched, and you brought a hand to his. "Let me show my kingdom y/n please" he offered. Namor got to his feet and started walking back into the water. He paused once he waist deep to turn back to you holding out his hand.
"No games?" You questioned with a frown.
"No games" he promised beckoning for you to come to him. You glanced back in the direction of your jet. Queen Romanda would be able to track it, and she would if you didn't return home soon. It was a miracle you were able to sneak out in the first place. If it wasn't for the Dora Milaje being in the Council meeting along with all the other guards. Your absence would’ve been brought to light, and you weren't sure of how much time you had left. This was only supposed to be civil discussion to try and reach a peaceful agreement with him. Now its an involved into a marriage proposal and a journey to an underwater kingdom.
"Princess y/n" Namor called out to you softly.
You turned back to him still standing with his hand outstretched. "We need to be quick. My people will come looking for me soon."
Namor nodded his mouth moving upward into a giant grin when you stood up and made your way to him. The second your hand was in his he pulled your body to his. It was kind of hard to really get a good grip on him without wrapping both of your arms around his waist. Because his body was slick with water he secured a firm hold on your waist as well. "Hold on tight princess, and no matter what don't let go into we're in Talokan." Those were his final words before he let himself sink into the ocean taking you with him.
Talokan was unmatched in beauty and wonder even though you had no intention on accepting his proposal. You wouldn't have minded spending sometime down there to truly explore the city. The underwater sun brought tears to your eyes. When you turned to him there was genuine smile on his face. At the end of the day Namor loved his people and truly just wanted to protect his home. But unfortunately you were on a strict time limit, and before you knew it. The adventure was over and Namor had returned to beach.
"Now that you have seen Talokan with your own eyes maybe you will change your mind. It can be your home to princess." He said before officially parting ways with you.
You returned to Wakanda immediately after that and spoke of the offer to no one. If your mother found out what happened, and that he wanted your hand in marriage. She would panic leading to you being whisked away in hiding.
But soon enough you would wish that you had accepted his offer that night on the beach.
Two Days Later
One bad decision led to another and now things were getting out of hand. When it came to your knowledge that Namor's army had ambushed Okoye and Shuri in America, while they were in the middle of. Retrieving the scientist who turned out to just be a nineteen year-old girl in college. You wasted no time in finding your mother to plead your case. You wanted to go with Nakia on her mission to save Shuri and Riri, only you proposed that they leave you behind.
"You expect me to let you surrender yourself to a man who threatened my entire country and my life". She snapped at you her eyes filled with hurt and fear. Your mother truly didn't understand why you trusted Namor so much. In honesty you didn't but you knew if you took Shuri's place. Then it would be easier to keep him calm.
Queen Romanda had you sent to your room where she ordered the Dora Milaje to keep you. Until they got word from her that you could be free again, and for the first time in your life. You truly knew what it was like to be grounded. You didn't get the chance to escape until Namor invaded Wakanda, and by then the damage was done. You left the palace to provide aide to your people as the water rose up within the city. For the first time the people of Wakanda witnessed your powers as you used them to free them from the water. Namor was so focused on the battle at hand. He flew right past you as you brought a family to safety. He moved like a bullet through the sky making sharp spin moves to bring down the aircrafts. It was then you realized he had a specific destination in mind. The memory his promise to take your mother's life hit you like a ton of bricks, and you made your way back to the palace.
"Namor no" You shouted a few feet away from him held up in the air by a floating boulder.
But it was too late Namor threw a hand full of water grenades at the crack in the window. The entire front of the palace exploded as the water grenades went off knocking your mother and the girl back. You directed your boulder over to him slamming a fist into his left cheek. His head snapped to the side from the impact, but the punch didn't faze him the slightest. He turned his head back to you fury in his eyes matching your own. "I warned her and you of what would happen. My original offer still stands if you truly want to put an end to this."
"How could you think that I would even want to look at you again after what you just did" You sneered at him.
Namor leaned his head down to put his mouth to your ear. "It isn't over for her yet you can still save her princess."
You whirled around to a tragic scene of Akena holding Shuri back while Okoye and Nakia attempted to resuscitate your mother, and the young girl. Riri came to first coughing up water as Nakia rolled her over to her side. But your mother was still unconscious You lowered the boulder and leapt into the palace. You ran over dropping down to. your knees before your mother. Your hands shoving Okoye away without a word as you felt for the water in her lungs. Once you locked onto it everyone watched in awe and surprise as you bended it out of her. Queen Romanda's eyes shot open as she attempted to cough up the water, but it was gone. Her eyes looked around frantically until finally they settled on you.
Tears builded up in your eyes as your head dropped to her stomach. Shuri had broke free from Akena and M'Baku somehow to come over and join you.
"Princess y/n how did you?" Nakia said leaving the question to hang in the air.
"Fishman you would be wise to leave now" M'Baku shouted pointing his staff at. Namor who was still hovering right outside of the palace observing all of you.
Queen Romanda pushed herself up into a sitting position with Shuri supporting her from behind. Her eyes found Namor and you never seen your mother so furious. He attempted to take her life, and almost succeeded. Not to mention his attack did lead to the death of some of your people. She wouldn't be able to overlook all of that. His actions would be considered an act of war.
Unless.
You climbed back to your feet to slowly walk over to the opening where the windows use to be. M'Baku shouted for you to stop as Namor flew over to meet you.
"Princess y/n" Okoye cried taking a few steps forward.
You positioned your body sideways holding out a hand towards all of them. A gust of wind was summoned to keep them at bay. By now Namor was standing only a few inches away from you half a step forward would close the distance.
"If I accept your offer you must agree to my terms" You told your voice just a whisper. No one else could hear the exchange.
He simply gave you a nod.
"You will never attack or step foot in Wakanda again unless you are summoned here."
A nod.
"You will allow me to return home at least three months out of the year."
Another nod.
"You will not sneak out a war with the surface world unless they attack you first. Which they won't because Wakanda will keep your secret and protect you from discovery."
Namor didn't seem to happy about that one, but nevertheless he gave you a nod after three long seconds. At that you nodded at him in return "I will accept your proposal for marriage."
Namor smiled as the room erupted into a series of gasps and protests. Queen Romanda was on her feet in seconds storming over to yank you behind her. "You will do no such thing y/n" she insisted before turning to Namor. "My daughter will be going nowhere with you."
"It's not your choice Queen and if you try to keep my wife away from me-" He started to threaten but a light jolt of electricity had him hissing in pain, and backing away. His eyes found yours as you glared at him.
"No more threats Namor" You demanded.
He took a deep breath before speaking again. "Bury your dead. Mourn your loss. Say your goodbyes. I will return for her at dawn if she's not at our usual spot waiting for me. I will come here for her." With those words he shot off like a bullet disappearing into the water.
Your mother whirled around to face you with betrayal in her eyes. "Usual spot?"
"There's a beach I would go to with T'Challa to practice control over my powers before he died. He was the only one who knew what I could do after his death. I went back to feel connected to him, and apparently Namor use to watch me from the water or sky. I didn't know until a couple of days ago" You explained to her.
"I will not permit you to marry him" She demanded.
"Mother its the only way to prevent a war between our two kingdoms and you know it" You insisted.
"Dear sister please don't do this" Shuri pleaded wrapping her arms around you from behind. Her face buried into the back of your neck.
You could feel her tears bringing a hand up to squeeze her arm. "If anyone in this room has a better idea, I would love to hear it."
No one spoke up.
"My daughter" Queen Romanda whispered taking your face in both of her hands. She leaned down pressing her forehead to yours.
"I have to do this mom this is for Wakanda, and maybe one day I can learn to love him" You whispered.
There was just silence as her arms wrapped took place where they could. You stood there embraced by your mother and sister for the longest just relishing in their love. Knowing that by nightfall you would be in a new home.
Talokan.

Tumblr media
Sanctuary; protection or a safe place. That’s what Namor’s cavern had become to you over the years. Your sanctuary.
Talokan was beautiful, it was almost unbelievable to see an entire nation built underwater, a sun made of vibranium glowing above Namor’s gilded throne, bringing light to the depths of the ocean. You would gladly spend hours on end just exploring the kingdom, and speaking to locals who initially gawked at you, a surface dweller, swimming through their cities. But this cavern was your safe haven.
A relaxed sigh slipped through your lips, tilting your head back to take in the magnificent art in front of you.  You would often find Namor there, painting stories intricately across the walls, splashes of vibrant colors melted together to create a visual history of his world. It was his sanctuary too.
You gently tugged his cloak closer over your shoulders as you stood, stepping closer to the wall and tracing your fingers over the figure which depicted himself, along with the Black Panther, telling the story of the alliance formed with Wakanda. A small smile pulled at the corners of your lips, your eyes trailing to the left where you discovered a more recent painting, a familiar figure decorating the wall.
It was your story.
Your escape from the research facility, the crash landing into the large cave, your near death at Namor’s hand. You were a surface dweller with strange power he had not seen in all the centuries he’d lived, trapped in a research facility, as scientists attempted to take your power and reproduce it to create more enhanced individuals.
In your escape, you’d found yourself sent crashing into the waters of Yucatán, where you’d awakened in a large cave with a destroyed ship and surrounded by Talokanil warriors. Namor would have killed you that day for endangering his people, knowing your escape could lead more surface dwellers to Talokan.
“Do you know what they would do to my people?” He’d spoken dangerously into your ear, gripping your jaw in his hand. “You are too dangerous to be kept alive here.”
And yet, when they came for you, the two of you fought side by side along with the Talokanil army. The agents were slain before they could even reach the water, wiping any trace of your location from the organization.
When he saw how you cared for his people, aiding any of the wounded that you could and shielding his underwater lands, Namor offered you protection. So long as you remained in Talokan, keeping their nation hidden and protected, you would be safe from the clutches of the surface world.
This was your home now, your safe haven; where you were free to live as you were, in the depths of the ocean, hidden in underwater caverns.
Your heart swelled at the memories, the lingering scent of Namor wrapped around your shoulders, his cloak warming your skin. The paint was still fresh on the mural, his tools strewn about on the rocky table behind you, waiting to be cleansed for his next piece.
Namor was a magnificent storyteller, through both his words and his art. His words rung through your ears, memories from when he’d told you the story of how Talokan came to be, about his mother. It was heart-wrenching to hear how his people had fallen victim to the death and diseases brought by Spanish invaders, how they had to leave their lives on the surface and begin anew underwater.
"He called me, 'El Niño sin Amor', 'the child without love'. And I took my name from there. Namor. Because I have no love for the surface world."
It was strange to hear, for a man who was filled with so much love for his people, his nation, the world they’d created for themselves where they could survive without the threat of the death and diseases brought by the surface. He had no love for the surface world or its people, and he would do anything to protect his home from being ravaged again. Yet, he’d found love in a surface dweller.
Rippling water behind you broke you from your thoughts, the sound of jewelry lightly clicking and wings fluttering, causing your heart to skip a beat at his presence. His footsteps were light as he made his way to your side, his figure towering to your right, the golden bands on his wrists glimmering in the corner of your eye. You couldn’t restrain the smile that tugged at your lips, turning silently to face him.
“My love,” you greeted, before reaching for his hair, pushing it back to reveal more of his face. Namor’s hair was thick between your fingers, it soaked your skin with water as it folded into place.
He was beautiful. From his pointed ears, to the curve of his nose, and his wet lips, which curved into a smile of his own, while his eyes trailed down your cloaked body.
“It suits you,” he complimented, running his hands over your shoulders where the cloak hung and down your arms. “I could have one made for you, as my queen.”
You shook your head, lowering your gaze with a light laugh as a warmth spread across your cheeks. It wasn’t the first time he’d suggested something like this, but it could never be that simple.
“Please, amor. A surface dweller as queen? There would be an outrage.” You chuckled at the idea, lifting your head while he tugged you closer to the warmth of his body.
“Well, yes.” He nodded, shrugging his adorned shoulders, the stunning jewelry around his neck clicking as it shifted. “But your home is here now. You are no longer a surface dweller, an outsider.”
“And yet, some still look at me as one.” You pressed back softly and shook your head once more.
You both knew such a prospect could divide the Talokanil, though they loved and revered Namor as K'uk'ulkan, the fear and hatred for the surface world burned in many of their hearts. To see an outsider from the surface take a throne alongside their leader would cause confusion and go against the beliefs of many. While the people showed kindness and respect to you for the work you had done to protect them, some remained wary of your presence. The risk was too high.
Tearing yourself away from the idea, you nodded towards the mural on the wall with his latest creation. “It’s beautiful.”
The warmth of his hand cupped your cheek, bringing comfort to your mind as he regarded you with those deep eyes. The eyes that once glared at you threateningly, ready to kill you, now gazed at you with an adoration that made your heart swell and your stomach flutter. His touch brought you peace and safety. A breath you didn’t know you were holding in escaping quietly through your lips.
“Thank you, for protecting me.” You spoke softly, placing your hand over his and leaning into the comfort of his warmth with a light kiss to his palm.
Namor brought you forward, lowering his forehead to your own. “I’ve waited centuries for you, In yakunaj.” My love. The cool surface of his jewelry tickled at your skin. “You are mine now, and I will always protect you, as long as I live.”
“In k’áatech.” I love you. You knew he loved it when you spoke his tongue, rewarded with an affectionate smile. “And I will be by your side, always.”
He closed the distance between your lips and you melted into the kiss, feeling all your love pour into him as he drowned you with his own. “In k’áatech.”
He was everything. He was your love, your home, and your sanctuary.

Yandere Namor Headcanon

Tumblr media
•Namor, a child without love as he’d been cursed, did not have it within his heart to love another. His love lay with his people. That was until he happened upon you. An inquisitive human who was investigating the legend of K'uk'ulkan. At first, he’d planned to kill you as he did with all others that had come to find him ans Talokan. However, your intentions, unlike the others, was honourable. You only visited out of curiosity, and acted respectfully towards the land and the people of the village. Namor began to observe you. He watched you from afar as you continued to search for him, for any signs for him. He never let you catch on though.
•Frustrated by your fruitless efforts, you decided to leave in resignation. Despite hiding himself from you, Namor wasn’t prepared for you to go. He’d spent so much time watching you that he grew obsessed. He was completely enamoured with you, with your mannerisms, your habits, your laugh, your smile, everything about you. You were a pure being. The cruel surface world was undeserving of you. So, the day you were meant to leave, you visited the beach one last time as a sort of nostalgic end visit. That’s when you saw him, emerging out of the water. You stood there, stunned. Here before you was K'uk'ulkan in all his glory. And he was glorious. He must’ve been the most gorgeous man you’d ever seen. The silence between you two grew as you eyes raked him over, taking him in. Slowly, he moved towards you, then he uttered your name. That single utterance of your name caused your insides to double over, twisting and turning.
“K'uk'ulkan,” you whispered in awe, eyes widened. Smiling, he corrected you, “Namor. You’ve been searching for me.”
Still in awe, you nodded slowly. “You wish to see it, do you not? My home,” asked Namor, outstretching his hand in an unspoken offer. He was inviting you, a mere human, to see his home. Your heart was pounding in your chest as you cautiously took his hand. He pressed a mask to your face and before you could register what was happening, you were being pulled under the water.
•Namor took you to an underwater cave where you didn’t need a mask. This is where you’d be staying, he told you. You didn’t pay any thought towards his ominous tone, too absorbed with the mesmerizing beauty of the cave. Namor then showed you to a high-tech deep-sea diving suit. Once you were suited up, Namor showed you Talokan. The underwater city was ethereal. You marvelled at the sights and the people, all who received you warmly. Namor’s heart swelled watching you interact with his people as if they were your own, well they would be soon.
•You enjoyed your time at Talokan. All your needs and wants were met. You adored spending time with the people, especially the children. However, eventually, the novelty wore off and you grew homesick. You tried to bring it up with Namor but he would either change the course of the conversation or just blow you off entirely. This dodgy behaviour worked up your irritation until it finally spilled over.
“Namor!” you called out. Namor turned around, his face set in an adoring smile. “I need to talk to you.”
“What is it? Is there anything you need?” He asked sweetly.
“I want to leave, and don’t try changing the subject. I love it here in Talokan, but this isn’t my home. I have a home, a life back on the surface that I need to return too,” you said, pleadingly.
Something in Namor’s eyes changed, and he titled his head in confusion. Then, he laughed. “Darling, tell me, what did you expect to happen once you accepted my hand. Did you believe that Talokan has remained hidden for so long through allowing people free range?”
Your heart rate quickened, and you stuttered, trying to formulate a response. You hadn’t thought of the future consequences, lost in the thought of experiencing the myths you’d studied for so long first hand. Chuckling, Namor closed the distance between you two and cupped your face with his hands. “Worry not, beloved. Talokan shall offer you far more than the surface world ever could.”

Tumblr media
Pairing: Namor x Black Fem!Reader
Rating: EXPLICIT
Summary: Despite the alliance between Wakanda and Talokan, The Feathered Serpent God isn’t truly welcomed in the Golden City. That doesn’t stop you from allowing him in your bed, nor him from wanting more
You call his name, but you don’t think he hears.
Don’t think Namor can sense anything beyond the taste of you on his tongue, sweet and smearing his chin—the way he always wants you, and you know your sheets will be a mess when he’s done. Know you’ll have to wash away the evidence of a liaison that should never be.
Alliance or not, he isn’t truly welcome on these shores, but you allow him anyway with the promise that this time will be the last.
Your resolve is questionable, as is your loyalty.
Your fingers thread through wet hair. You pull him closer to your soaking pussy, and he groans. The feel of it reverberates through you as you choke out his name.
Namor pulls away from your soaking slit with a sigh. His dark, half-lidded eyes trail up your body until they meet yours.
“You have missed me,” He whispers against your thigh, licking the wetness that’s made its way there.
He lets nothing go to waste.
“That wasn’t a question,” you note, feeling the ghost of a smile against your skin.
“No…” Namor’s hand traces the inside of your thighs. Thick fingers brush against the folds of your pussy, slowly reaching your clit, “It was not.”
He returns his mouth where you need it most, while his thick fingers work away at your throbbing clit. Your legs shake, your breath hitches as you’re drawn closer to another soul shattering orgasm. Even as Namor takes you apart, he does it will no real urgency. His movements are languid, as if he has all the time in the world.
Namor replaces his tongue with his fingers, stretching you as he pushes two fingers into you sopping cunt. You can hear the evidence of your desire—the slick, wet sounds as his fingers massage your fluttering walls. Your hips buck forward, wanting his fingers knuckle deep, and he laughs. A deep, throaty laugh that’s almost cruel.
“What would they say?” Namor lifts his face; his lips curl into an amused smile as he watches you. Watches the rise and fall of your breasts, the tremble of your lips as praise and encouragement falls from them, “Hm? If they all knew how desperate you are for me? How eager.”
“I…I don’t know,” you lie.
It’s easier than thinking about how you would be dishonored. The question of your loyalty would be immediate, and no answer you gave would satisfy your elders, nor your king.
Though an alliance stood between Wakanda and Talokan, it did not wash away Namor’s sins, nor earn him the favor of your people.
As far as anyone was concerned, he was a necessary evil—one that you could seemingly not say no to.
Namor tsks. The rhythm of his fingers slows as he considers you. He wants the truth you refuse to give.
“Do you think they will forgive you? Will you beg for it? Lie?” He pulls his fingers out of you, eyes following his digits glazed with your wetness, “Or will you have to turn to me?”
He looks at you as he lifts his fingers to his mouth, tasting you. He groans contentedly around his digits,  his eyes fluttering shut for a moment as if he is savoring just how fucking sweet you are—as if there is no fruit, nor drink in existence that can quite satisfy his hunger the way you do.
You blink up at him, dazed by his display and so painfully needy. Your cunt aches as it clenches around nothing. It’s enough to bring you to tears, but you’d bet that’s exactly what he wants. You, dumb and delirious and crying for him. Completely at his mercy.
“I would never turn to you,” you bite, and Namor’s eyes finally open. They seem endless as he stares up at you with an indecipherable expression.
His slick fingers skim the length of your leg, leaving a trail of his saliva that leads straight to your pulsing cunt.
“You already have.”
His fingers push back into you, and a curse rips from your throat. His languid manner is long gone, replaced by a feverish need to make you come around his fingers now. His pace is ruthless, his fingers reaching further into you until he’s knuckle-deep, just the way you need him—and then he fucking curls his fingers.
You tip over the edge without warning, your release violent and unexpected as it racks through you. Your walls flutter around his fingers, your legs convulse, and his name falls from your lips with so much devotion, you’d think perhaps he is the god his people claim him to be.
Your body goes limp as you come down from your high with a shaky sigh. You feel the heat of Namor’s mouth as he trails kisses up your body, a steady path upward until his lips hover over yours.
His fingers cradle your jaw, his hold firm as he keeps your gaze trained on him, and your heart aches.
Bast, he’s beautiful. It always stuns you no matter how many times you have the revelation—and this is when you promise yourself that this is the last time you allow him in your bed. You both never stopped to explain what this was, but you know feelings would only complicate things further…make the inevitable end that much harder to see through.
“What are you thinking right now?” Namor asks against your lips, teasing. He’s back to taking his time, dragging everything out for his own pleasure, while simultaneously driving you as mad as he possibly can. You have half the mind to close the gap between you two, and another to send his happy ass back to the sea.
You do neither.
“I think that you’re ruining me,” Namor grins. You nearly stumble over your words, “And I am disappointed in myself for enjoying it.”
He nods, leaning in as he closes the space between your lips. Namor kisses you like it’s the first time—all hunger and a need to consume you, but he does not rush. He tastes you, rolls his tongue along your bottom lip. Your lips part with a sigh, and he’s quick to make you taste yourself on his tongue—to know just how delicious you truly are, before he breaks away.
“I wish to do more than just ruin you…”
His hand reaches down, wrapping around his hard dick. He gives it a few quick strokes, groaning against your mouth before he rubs his dick between your folds, coating himself with your juices. You gasp, squirming beneath him as you feel your walls flutter painfully. You’re still sensitive from your previous orgasms, but this will do little to deter Namor. He will have you until you’re boneless, voice gone from how hard you’ve used it to call out for him, to plead him to go deeper. Fuck you harder.
And Namor always ends it how he starts, between your legs and with your sweet arousal coating the back of his throat. The taste of you lingers, even when he returns to the depths of the ocean, back to Talokan. He tastes you while he paints hieroglyphs memorializing the legends he’s lived, and the ones he might.
Namor pushes into your entrance, feeling the warm slickness of your velvety walls as they hug his thick length, and he drives himself deeper. He curses in his mother tongue, adjusting to you as your sensitive walls throb around him. He won’t have to do much to set you off, and for a second he considers being charitable and putting you out of your lust-filled misery, but even that comes at a price.
He hadn’t wanted much in the beginning. Just you sprawled out for him in all your beauty. You had both been chasing a high, a need to have the other—and maybe it was the taboo surrounding the nature of your relationship that spurred it—the threat that lingered if one of you were found out, though Namor was not foolish enough to believe you did not have more to lose.
It hadn’t mattered before, but it mattered now. Here, with the taste of you on his tongue and your nails digging into the flesh of his back as he thrust into you shallowly—you fucking mattered, and he was no longer satisfied with late night hookups, and kisses behind closed doors. He resented having to wait weeks or even months to see you again, wondering all the while if you’d finally decide to turn him away when he returned.
He wanted more.
He wanted everything.
And what a creature craving could be.
Namor glanced down at you, mesmerized by your long lashes fluttering as your eyes closed—the furrow of your brow as pain and pleasure pulsed through your body. A plea fell from your lips, whispered so softly he nearly missed it.
Now was not the time to be charitable. Now was the time for negotiations.
“Say it.” Namor thrust harder, earning a whine from you, “Call my name.”
Your bottom lip quivered; the words nearly spoken before you caught yourself. You shook your head, and Namor let out a frustrated sigh.
He had told you to call him K’uk’ulkan. Whispered it against your lips like a plea months ago, but even now you deny him. The name was spoken with adoration by his people, and you learned he gave it to outsiders sparingly.
So, you couldn’t say it. You wouldn’t.
It’s the confession that you swallow, hidden away just like these meetings between you two. It’s the treacherous desire of wanting all of him at the cost of everything else.
And while you could be reckless enough to entertain desire driven nights with him, you could not conjure a fantasy where he was yours, and you were his. The cost was too great.
The rhythm of his hips slowed. Your eyes fluttered open as you glared up at him, biting back a curse in Xhosa.
“Are you so afraid of a name?”
He cocked his head to the side, bringing his hand up to wrap around your neck, “Or afraid of what it might mean to call me by it?”
Your breath hitched as you blinked up at him, the heat of his gaze and weight of his question making your thoughts foggy. Despite it, you found your voice.
“I’m afraid that you’ve forgotten what this is.”
Namor was silent for a moment. His dark eyes searched yours, before his lips curled into a smile that did not reach his eyes.
“Then remind me.”
He pulled out of you fully, leaving you wanting before he thrust back in with a force that made you cry out. He buried himself deep inside of you, stretching your aching cunt and making you feel every glorious inch of his dick.
He grabbed the back of your thighs, pushing your legs closer to your chest and began to fuck you like a wild, depraved animal.
You clawed at his back, anchoring yourself to him as he continued to pound into you. He groaned into the nape of your neck, his fingers bruised the flesh of your thighs as he lost himself.
“Is this all that you are then? A hole to fill?”
The sound of the meeting of your flesh filled the shack, drowning out the peaceful hum of the wind outside. The rustling of the trees.
You cursed, feeling the deliciously painful pressure in your core building with each brutal thrust.
Your hand trailed up his neck, fingers digging into his damp curls, and you pulled his head closer, resting his forehead against your as his hips started to stutter—his rhythm quickly losing its coordination.
“Please…” your voice sounded pathetic, even to your own ears, “Namor…K’u—”
You choked on his name as pure hot euphoria ricocheted through you. Your toes curled, your back arched painfully as you cried up towards the ceiling. A tear rolled down your cheek as you came violently around his aching dick.
Namor hissed a string of Mayan against your lips, words spoken so quickly your mind couldn’t even catch them. Your name was the only thing you could make out before Namor went rigid. His teeth bit into the flesh of your shoulder as his seed poured into you. His dick twitched inside of you as he gave a final thrust, pushing the evidence of his desire further into your pussy. His mouth hung open as his chest rose and fell, and bliss cascaded through him.
Namor carefully draped himself over you, conscious of not crushing you under his weight despite how featherlight he felt. He kissed your temple, whispering his praise as he stayed buried inside of you, feeling the mix of your release and his own slowly seeping out of you.
He would take care of you soon. Wash away the evidence of your love making before he returned to Talokan where he was needed most. But for now, he would bask in the feel of you beneath him, and the possibility that lingered between you two.

The Unexpected- The Proposal
K’uk’ulkan x Black!reader
A/N: This has been sitting in my docs for awhile now and I felt inspired so I finally finished it lol. I also used a translator for Yucatec Maya, so if it’s not all correct that’s why. Enjoy! ❤️
—————————————————
“I don’t get it. Why do I have to go?” Y/N demands even though it sounds more like a whine.
Shuri laughs and rolls her eyes playfully.
“We’ve been over this already. I have my own duties that conflict with my usual schedule. So today I need you to meet with him.” The princess explains as she busies herself with one of her latest projects.
“But I’m not a princess or a diplomat. You told me he has a temper. What if he gets upset that it’s me there and not you?”
Y/N leans against the table as Shuri looks up at her giving her an exasperated yet amused look. “You may not be a diplomat but you are sweet and that smile of yours is enough to put even the toughest of warriors at ease. Plus, you have something in common with the king. You’ll be able to relate in some way. Just take it from there.”
Groaning, Y/N puts her head in her hands.
“Fine. I’ll meet this fishman, but I don’t even know what to say to him.”
Shuri smiles. “You’ll do just fine. Use that brain of yours. Draw him in with your knowledge of Wakanda.”
Y/N rolls her eyes.
“As if he’d listen to me go on about our history when I’m sure he just wants to make sure you haven’t gone back on your word.”
Shrugging, Shuri looks down at her project which appears to have something to do with adjustments to her suit.” I’m not, but sending someone in my place is far better than no one showing up. Then we’ll have another problem on our hands.”
“Fine. I’ll go, but you owe me. This is not my thing.” Y/N huffs as she turns to leave.
“Thank you!”
“Yeah yeah!”
————————
Waves lap at the bank of the river as Y/N paces restlessly. She was nervous. So nervous that she’d nearly been late, which is very unlike her. If it weren’t for Aneka it’s safe to say that she’d still be tearing apart her closet right now. Wearing a sleeveless teal sundress, gold bangles, matching necklace, and a pair of sandals the Dora accompanying her assured her that she looked perfect. Her braids were up in a ponytail. The gems she’d carefully placed there this morning glimmering in the sunlight. Now all she had to do was not blow an alliance with a dangerous underwater kingdom ruled by a king who’s people worshiped him as a god…No pressure.
According to Shuri, now that the alliance was in place the king had…calmed down a bit. However, she warned Y/N to be on her guard since she would be a new face.
“Y/N please. If you pace anymore I think I will be sick.” A voice complains.
Offering a sheepish smile Y/N turns to Aneka and Nia who were with her today. Nia was new but good at her job, so that’s why she’d been given the task to come along. It’d be a good experience and Aneka trusted her.
“Sorry. I’m just nervous.”
“We’ve noticed.” Nia responds, giving her a soft smile in return.
“Shuri would not have asked you to do this if she thought you couldn’t do it. Take a deep breath and relax before you turn the sand to glass.”
Y/N glares at Aneka who shrugs. As she’s about to respond she sees movement out the corner of her eye. She’d pass it off as just a trick of the light or the fact that they are near water if it weren’t for the three presences she felt beneath the surface. They were steadily moving closer to the shore. Where did they come from? Usually she can sense things miles out or even leagues below the surface. How had she not noticed?
“We’ve got company.” Y/N mutters turning to the water.
She puts her shoulders back and quickly rehearses a greeting in her head only for her brain to short circuit as a man, flanked by two Talokanil, steps out of the water. Now don’t get Y/N wrong. She’d seen glimpses of the strange man when he and his people flooded Wakanda. Shuri had even told her of her time in the city of Talokan and described him in hopes that Y/N would be familiar with such descriptions. She was not. If she’d seen a man this handsome before…well she’d definitely remember him.
Water drips down his body and Y/N mentally yells at herself to stay focused. His friends really aren’t helping though. With their blue skin they’re both just as beautiful. However, their king is stunning. His winged feet only seemed to add to the strange allure he has about him. The way his jewelry shines in the sun and against his brown skin…Even with that intimidating spear in his hand Y/N is in awe.
Feeling a gentle nudge in her back Y/N nearly has a heart attack, but quickly covers it up with a smile as she steps forward.
“Hello. I am Y/N,” She dips in a graceful bow. “The princess sends her regards for she wasn’t able to make it today.”
The Talokanil behind the king exchange glances that don’t go unnoticed by Y/N. She feels butterflies dancing around in her stomach but works through them.
“I assure you everything is as it should be. Shuri simply had other duties to attend to.”
The king raises an eyebrow. “More important than our alliance?”
Y/N’s heart skips a beat at the sound of his voice. While his tone is inquisitive it also has a hint of playfulness to it. Well that’s good, right?
Y/N chuckles.
“To bear the role of the Black Panther means to always expect the unexpected. You never know when you will be called away. Surely you can understand that K’uk’ulkan.”
At the mention of his name, the king of Talokan seems to swell with what can only be described as pride. His eyes rake over Y/N taking her in before giving a charming smile that nearly makes her swoon.
“Well if that’s the case will you walk with me?”
Not expecting that response, Y/N’s jaw drops.” Um…”
She looks back at Aneka and Nia who give each other curious looks before Aneka nods encouraging her to accept. Turning back to him she notices that his companions seem to also be trying to figure just exactly what their king has in mind. However, seeing him embed his spear in the sand seals her resolve.
“I will.”
—————————
“So you are a friend of the princess?”
I chuckle glancing over at him.
“We’ve known each other since we were children. Though while I was learning the history of our great country and it’s spiritual aspects she took interest in the sciences and technology. Now look at her. The overseer of all our technology and an even more brilliant inventor.”
I pause and turn to him.
“Though I’m sure you know that already.”
He stops as well, a charming smile forming on his lips.” The princess has a brilliant mind, but I’m more interested in you.”
“Me? What could I possibly offer you?” With a furrowed brow and hands on my hips, I find myself to actually be interested in what he might say. The king obviously doesn’t know me, but he certainly acts as if he knows something.
The king glances back to where his own guards and the Dora stand further down the river. They’re a good distance away but still close enough should anything happen. Bast forbid that. Both groups stand rather awkwardly but they are determined to do their duty. He steps closer and a panic builds in my chest. With him this close to me I can smell the ocean. It’s always been one of my favorite smells but this makes me want to embrace him just so that I can take in more of it.
I notice the amusement in his eyes mixed with something else that I can’t quite place, and take a step back. He only follows me and I feel as if I’ve entered a game of cat and mouse. He is obviously the cat and I, unfortunately, am the mouse.
“K’uk’ulkan?”
I don’t mean to sound so uncertain or small but how can I possibly function with him so close?
His eyes roam over me for a moment before meeting my eyes once more. Leaning down, he takes on such an intimidating aura that I have to fight not to look away from him.
“I saw you that day.” His voice is low even though we aren’t that close to our companions. What he has to say is for my ears only.
“You move faster in water than any surface dweller I have seen. Stronger too.”
My eyes widen and he tilts his head to the side with a knowing smirk. At that point I do look away, setting my gaze on the water.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was ushered away just like most of my people.”
A click of his tongue and a low growl sends a chill down my spine.
“Mentiroso.”
My eyes shoot back to his and I stare at him defiantly. I don’t need my kimoyo beads to tell me that this man, this god, just called me a liar….and he’s right.
”I am not. You were seeing things.”
Even as I say it I see images in my mind of me diving into the river to rescue those who had been swept up by the waves or pulled into the water by Talokanil soldiers. K’uk’ulkan says nothing and I purse my lips keeping my facial expressions neutral. He begins to circle me slowly. Assessing me.
“…What do you want?”
“Nothing. I just find it…interesting. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone like you. Does your princess know?” He’s stopped behind me now but I refuse to face him.
“We grew up together and some things are hard to hide when you are so close.” What is he getting at?
K’uk’ulkan hums softly and walks back around me so that we are facing each other once more. His eyes are full of mirth and even mischief. Nervously I begin to fidget, twisting one of the rings on my right hand.
“I have a request.”
My eyes narrow. “I’m listening….”
Reaching down he gently takes my hand into his and lifts it to his lips. His hands have the roughness of a warriors but his lips are soft. Bast.
“Allow me to court you.”
It’s not a question.
“E-excuse me?” I mean to sound demanding. Make it sound as if he’s insane, but it all comes out in a surprised squeak.
My hand is still against his lips as he chuckles. It tickles a little.
“It is rather…traditional, but it would put many minds at ease if this alliance had more to hold it together. The elders have also been pestering me about giving my people their own queen mother and producing an heir.” He says it so casually that I’m left speechless.
I snatch my hand away from him and take a step back.
“I don’t even know you, and you are the reason Queen Mother is dead.” I hiss. The very mention of Ramonda sends a sharp pain through my chest. She treated me as if I were one of her own children. Losing her was devastating.
Stepping closer he takes my hand once more, holding it firmly so that I can’t pull away this time. “You and I both know that there are doubts on both sides. Would not such a moment ease their fears and allow us to move forward? To build trust?”
This man is crazy!
Preparing to pull away I freeze. He has a point. There are more Dora and soldiers patrolling the rivers. There have been whispers of evacuation plans in case another attack happens. I’ve sat in on the meetings of King M’Baku and the council. The elders are fearful that the Talokanil will go back on their promise of peace as soon as the first disagreement occurs. That this king who is worshiped as a god will want more….My heart speeds up as I go through the options. There aren’t many but I understand. I relax and look him in the eye.
“Give me time to think about this. Shuri…Shuri won’t be happy, and the elders will demand to know exactly why it is that you’ve chosen me. If I agree, you are asking me to expose myself. To also give myself to someone I don’t know.”
“I know this. That is why I will give you a week to consider and get things settled. Take this and call for me when the time comes. I will answer.” He pulls a conch shell from his waist and offers it to me. Gingerly, I take it looking at it curiously. When did he get this? Had I been so distracted that I didn’t notice it?
“I will call. I promise.”
A tender kiss is placed on my wrist this time and I almost swoon.
“I know you will…In Eek'e'.”
My star…
Before I can even react he kisses my hand and pulls away. He calls something to his guards but I’m too dazed to listen to the translation.
“Shall we?” The king of Talokan holds out his arm allowing me to take it. We walk back down along the bank of the river, the shell tucked safely in my free arm. I feel my face heating up as Aneka and Nia give me questioning looks as we approach. I am saved only when K’uk’ulkan turns to me, capturing my attention. “We will leave you here. Don’t forget what we have discussed.” Resisting the urge to roll my eyes, I nod.” Of course. I made a promise and I intend to keep it.”
I’m met with a scoff but I see the amusement in the god-king’s eyes. He nods and promptly turns around stepping back into the river with the two Talokanil soldiers following close behind. I watch their heads soon disappear beneath the water and I sigh wishing for at least another kiss on my hand or wrist.
“What was that about?” Nia’s light voice fills the air startling me out of my thoughts. That’s when everything comes crashing down and realization hits. With a groan I facepalm getting strange looks from the two women accompanying me once again. I offer them only one answer.
“I am in so much trouble.”

Catch me playing this on repeat and THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ENDING SONG but I’m still satisfied that it was played when Shuri was exploring Talokan City

Hi if you're still taking request. Can I request a Namor x reader where reader and namor are married and reader is one of the people got turned to dust because of the snap and Namor just don't know what to do. 5 years later reader came back to him what would he's reaction be?
Thank you for the request
Summary: 5 years without you was worse than anything he had ever experienced.
ANGST
In ajawo - my king
In reina - my queen
in yakunaj - my love
in amado - my beloved
Aateni - help me
Tumblr media
It had happened so suddenly it took Namor a moment to realize that you were truly gone. You were together at the time. In the tent in the cave where he kept most of his paintings. The two of you had been laughing when your expression suddenly changed. You stumbled and he caught you.
"In yakunaj? What is it?" He asked as he guided you to a chair, worry etched into his brow. You had a faraway look in your eyes that made his stomach drop.
"In ajawo' something is happening," You stuttered and gripped his hands like your life depended on it. "Aateni' K'uk'ulkan."
His heart clenched at the call for help as he was at a loss on how to do just that. Then right before his eyes you crumbled into dust. He looked around himself like you would suddenly reappear. He tore up the room and the surrounding caves, calling your name. But when reality sank in, he broke. The howl that the king let out rang through all of Talokan as others in the underwater civilization also vanished.
The Talokan King ventured to the surface when he couldn't find any answers in the sea. What he found was the same suffering and loss. He learned of what the alien Thanos had done. Nothing would bring you back. Nothing would bring anyone back. Any hope he may have harbored was now turned to ashes.
For the first year, no one but Namora saw the king. He secluded himself and wallowed in his grief. Allowed himself to feel the anger and loss and guilt. Your last words, your plea for him to save you to help you rang in his ears. Though Namora told him there was nothing he could have done, that did not sooth his aching and yearning soul.
On the anniversary of what the surface dwellers called 'the blip', Namor showed himself to his people once more. He wore his ceremonial garb and they held an official funeral for all those who had been turned to dust. Enough time had passed and it was time to let go. At least that is what he told his people, but at night he held your clothes close to him and prayed for your return.
The King remained detached and always stoic. He no longer swam the streets of Talokan and greeted his people. Nor was he ever seen outside the palace or his caves. No one blamed him. They all knew how he loved his Queen and her loss was felt by all.
The grief and sadness held Namor in such a grasp that he did not smile until over four years had passed. As time passed he had chosen to make room in his heart for the love of his people again. A small child had bumped into him on one of his few ventures into the city to see his people. But the smallest of smiles had finally alighted upon his face at the fright on the boy's face and his repeated apologies. He had patted the young boy and eased him.
Namor was learning to live without you in the smallest ways. He had made a conscious effort to leave the palace and caves more often. To be a more active hand in ruling his people. Seeing them moving forward with life while honoring those who left were a balm for the ever aching parts of his heart. In time he allowed himself to see the surface and the sun again. He knew you would have wanted that.
~~~
Namor was sitting on a beach, listening for any changes in the world. He knew the war against Thanos was waging somewhere, he could feel it. The energy that suddenly rippled through the world sent a hope through him that he dared not take hold of. He ran full pelt across the beach and dove back into the sea.
When he resurfaced in his caves and made it to the tent he paused. His heart was racing and hope had truly sprung up inside of him. But if he pushed this curtain and you weren't there he would be undone.
"K'uk'ulkan?" Your soft voice came from inside the tent, hesitant and frightened. A second ago he had been at your side and now you were alone.
The King almost fell to his knees at the sound of your voice. A sound he had feared he would forget as years passed without you. He threw open the curtain and you turned to him. You were standing at the table looking worried. Before you could speak Namor took three long strides and pulled you into his arms in a an embrace that spoke of longing and so much love. A sob escaped his lips as his legs gave way.
You knelt with him and held him to you as he sobbed like a child into your neck. You gripped ahold of him, soothingly running your hands through his hair as you felt tears well in your own eyes at the sound of his anguish. Namor pulled away and took your face in his shaking hands and looked at you with tears staining his cheeks.
"In amado, in reina, you have returned to me," Namor choked out the words before kissing you fiercely. Although confused you knew that something terrible had happened between the moment you had felt like something was wrong and his sudden disappearance to the entrance of the tent. You kissed him back and then held his face in your own hands.
"In ajawo, K'uk'ulkan, my love, I am here. Whatever happened to cause you this pain, I am here to make it go away," You whispered to him as he nuzzled his cheek against your palm.
"You were gone from me. You and half of the world. We have been grieving your loss and so many others for five years. I do not want to live in that world again. In a world without you," Namor's voice was low and broken. He was trying to calm his gut wrenching sobs as he explained what had happened and why you had disappeared.
The King held you close as he recounted what he knew and that he suspected that Thanos had now been defeated. Your heart broke as he described the mourning and grief that he and Talokan had suffered through. You had lost five years in a moment but he had been alone that whole time. You kissed him again, lingering so he could truly feel that you were there. He clutched on to you as though you would slip through his fingers again if he let go.
"I will never leave you again, my love. I promise you," You looked around you and could see that time had indeed passed. The tent was not as organized as you liked it. The king's paints were haphazard and there were unclean brushes sitting in places they shouldn't. Then you noticed the new mural that to you had not been there a moment ago. It was you; a detailed and intricate portrait of you in your ceremonial dress.
"I painted this the first year you were gone. I would come here and talk to you, imagining you were listening. I had no hope that you would ever return," he pressed his forehead to your temple and you cupped his cheek as you took in the painting.
"Why did you wait for me? I would have understood if you moved on. Talokan is always in need of a queen," You asked him, looking into his dark eyes.
"There was no queen before you and there will be none after you. There is only you, in reina," He did not explain any further.
Tears leaked out of the corner of your eye at his devotion. You pulled him in for a longer more passionate kiss. Pouring all you had into showing him how much you loved him. It broke a dam in the king and he kissed you hungrily. Like a starving man needing air he was desperate for your touch. Namor hoisted you onto the table and continued kissing you as his hands ran up and down your body.
Then he paused for a moment and leaned back, taking in the sight of you with swollen lips, a flushed face and neck, and your eyes dark with desire and he smiled a full wide smile for the first time in 5 years.
...
Alrighty, I think that's good right?
delusional water king
“They’ll see you as my goddess.” Shaking your head, you back away from the man.
“I’m not a goddess. I’m an experiment.” You show him the number on your lower back, accompanied by scars along the skin you displayed to him. Staring at your figure, he noticed the scars were pink in your dark skin, most likely scabbed up and picked away by the strong currents. Shoving your shirt down, you cross your arms over your stomach, looking down and away from him.
“I am grateful that you saved me, I am but...I don’t want to destroy the beautiful city you helped build.” His eyes bore into you, even as you’re not looking, the chance of intimidation being too great.
“I can’t control it, Namor.” The way his name moved off your tongue and into the air made him tispy, it echoed in the cave, bouncing off the walls.
“You saw what I did. I killed so many people.” Glossy eyes stared up at the feathered serpent god. He squinted at you with a smirk playing at his lips, was he finally seeing the real, troubled you? Turning to the hole in the ground that leads to the endless body of water, you fully intend on leaving.
“I’m sorry, if this is disrespectful to you. Please understand that everywhere I go destruction tends to follow.”
“Go ahead.” He responds after listening to you, biting your lip and moving a hair from your face, you sigh.
“I will disregard the disrespect. Only because it is coming from you, in reina.” Giving him a shy smile, you nod not quite understanding the last bits of what he said.
Standing off the edge where rock meets water, you step onto the liquid, turning to him and giving him a small wave. Submerging into the water, a small bubble tracing around your body that keeps air flowing while the water propels you through the small tunnels and out of Talokan. The feeling of guilt tugs at you for leaving your savior but the guilt of killing hundreds of people where you were held captive ate you alive. Reaching the surface, the bubble of air slowly deteriorates as you walk up to the sandy shore. Moments to dawn, you catch your breath as you walk away from the beach, taking one hesitant look back before disappearing into the dense forest. You needed time. Time to figure out your powers, time to find yourself and forgive yourself. It didn’t take long for you to forgive yourself for the unfortunate events at the hell hole, in the matter of days you thought and realized that losing your temper had to have been the best case scenario.
You spent time in an abondoned hut alongside the oceanside. It was peaceful, the waves were a natural lullaby and helped with the unease of sleeping. Being self-efficent gave you the chance to fool around with your powers, learn what you can do without causing a catastrophe. Sitting elevated above the waves, you meditated and wondered if he would try to find you.
“In reina.” You whispered opening your eyes, looking across the blue mirrors that connected with each wave, you could’ve sworn you heard someone say it before you.
Refraining from saying ‘hello’ or any of the sort. You’d rather not know if someone is here with you. Moving closer to the edge of the small cliff, you sway your hand in a circular motion, the waters pushing itself into a dance. Watching closely as the water formed a small cone shaped tornado that sunk to the bottom of the shallow floor. In this it showed, the particles of sand and small plants being swept into the current. Putting your hand in your lap, the mini tornado, slowed to a stop and transitioned back to the usual current of the ocean. Looking around your surroundings once more, you get up, dusting yourself off and go back to your hut.
If you could say something different to Namor, what would you say? Ask him what ‘in reina’ means or what he meant by ‘my goddess’. You were so shocked by what you’ve done prior that it didn’t register how handsome the man was, his tan skin, fit physique, raven hair and darkness that hides in his brown irises. A clear portrait of the man was painted onto the walls of your mind, and you were repeatedly looking at the painting, thinking of him after days of being alone. Laying down, you get comfortable on the floor bound cot, closing your eyes, your body relaxes on the soft surface.
“Y/n, in reina.” The voice deep, meaningful and close. Opening your eyes, your rest felt like it only lasted a split second. Looking around, you were surrounded by turquoise looming lights. The scenery definitely unfamiliar. Standing to your feet,
“Nib óolal, waal mía,” you turn to the sound of feet shuffling behind you and catch a glimpse of a blue skinned person leaving. Dark messy hair enters your view as you shake your head. Convinced that you’re hallucinating about this man, this dangerously attractive and hot man.
“What are you doing here?” You say in complete disbelief. A slight furrow in his brows as he gives you a small smile and honestly you could’ve dropped your panties for him right there. Wait what?
“I have changed my mind.” He reaches behind his neck, taking off one of his necklaces.
“Changed your mind?” You relay back to him in confusion, at this he smiles and nods.
“Can’t someone have a change of mind?” Your mind is fogged with confusion and its clearly displayed on your face.
“Yes, but I’m not following. I don’t understand what you're saying.” The small sounds his jewelry made as he rests them down on the nearest surface, echoes in the little pauses of silence.
“Am I not speaking english?” He asks as if you literally couldn’t understand. You realize he’s joking and chuckle.
“You are. I mean- ….What did you change your mind on?” You lose your train of thought mid sentence, his muscles suddenly having more definition now that its no longer covered by the many necklaces he wore.
His masculine stature compliments his collar bone and defined jaw thats hidden under a well kept beard. You need to get a hold of yourself, zoning out while observing his body and objectifying him when given the slightest chance. What would he do if he found out? Something bad you hope. Blinking yourself out the trance, bare chest is in your eyeshot. Looking up through your eyelashes, he’s already looking down.
“You.” Watching as his palm rests along your cheek, steadily tracing down your jaw and stopping by your chin.
All the while your breathing hitches, his thumb rubs along your lower lip. Most alarms are ringing in your head for you to stop but whats a simple kiss? Your hand slides up his waist, toned stomach and rests on his shoulder. His gaze shifting for a moment to your hand and back to you, by then you were already pushing yourself up. His lips pull you into a hypnosis of only wanting him, only wanting to kiss him, wanting to climb in his skin. His lips stray from yours to your cheek and neck in a rushed manner. His arm capturing you in an embrace to keep you from stumbling backward.
Your chest heaves excessively as you realize what you’re going to do. Failing to release you from his embrace, he guides you to a soft patch of the cave. It was odd, grassy and soft as he laid you down. The space made you wonder about the deep sea of unknown even more, if there’s possibility of healthy gardens thriving underwater, what other possibilities are there? Your hands glide over the greenery, feeling the cushiony plants and enjoying the pleasant sound it made as your hands moved through. All your senses were being satisfied, especially your eyes. The sight of him kneeling in front of you can make any women weak. He observes you and your fascination with the scene. His hands compliment your skin, when they stroke your thighs, goosebumps rising on your skin. Despite your body growing hotter and hotter with each passing moment. Leaning down, he kisses up to your core. Kisses alternating from right thigh to left thigh, your hips accidentally jerk once he’s two kisses away. His gaze shifts to you once more and he smiles. His dimples peaking through.
Your excitement is getting the best of you as he pulls your pants off, his finger tips gracing your lower stomach. Lowering his head to your core, you close your eyes and he kisses you. One long slow swipe of his tongue from your hole to your clit. His tongue teasingly licking at your clit, small and kitten like. You hum a moan, your hand hovering over your lips in upmost disbelief. Sucking on your folds like a starved man, he hooks his arms under your thighs and his hands grip at your thighs. Sweat beads down your forehead, mixing with a tear of pleasure. Finally opening your eyes, he is totally indulged in your pussy. Your shiny wetness on his cheeks, his head moving from side to side to make sure nothing is left untended to. A broken gasp leaves your chest when he nips at your clit sharply. Fanning yourself, you take in deep breaths at the realization that your body is overheating. You attempt to plead his name but his tongue slips in your hole at the right moment and touches your g-spot. Making you shriek.
“namor…” You mutter, breathing heavily. Your pussy squeezing his tongue and legs clenching on his head, demanding more. Shaking your head, your moans leave your throat in a struggle.
Cumming all over his cheeks and chin, he laps up the mess and unhooks his hands from your thighs. Your eyes follow his stature as he sits up. Your chest heaving up and down, he holds you in a compelling trance.
“What are you doing,” His voice dips in a jagged tone, warning you and stopping you in your tracks. You were scooting away from him.
“take me home, please.” You trembled as he shifted close.
You cross your ankles and shield yourself from him, “we can’t, namor please, listen to me.” He shakes his head, his playful manner gone.
“I hear you, but I won’t listen.” His hands uncross your ankles, opening your legs to him once more, “I’ll fuck you until you beg to stay with me.” You gasp, his hard-on rubbing against you as he raps your legs around his waist.
The waistband of his shorts gone and your eyes dart everywhere. This is what you want, it is, but this is one of those journeys that you can’t turn back from once you’ve begun.
“Look.” He commands your body with a word, this brings a soft smile to his lips.
“I deserve you. I knew I did when I first saw you,” he moans softly when he uses his fingers to part your soaked lips.
“I waited this long, can’t you give me something I deserve, hm?” His attention was on you, his tip moving between your lips and squishing around your come. You moan as nod to the man, cursing yourself at your wordless affirmations.
What Lies Below
Attuma x Reader
Summary: Finding a job on an isolated island in the middle of nowhere was your introverted dream come true. Little did you know what was lurking in the ocean.
Attuma's head was the only thing out of the water, the rest of his body stayed hidden in the deep blue.
His eyes followed her as she walked along the beach.
She was new.
He saw the ship which dropped her off. He assumes she was the new keeper of the lighthouse.
He watched as she looked around the small island.
Attuma had seen many humans come and go from this very island. He was tasked to keep an eye on it as it was rather close to Talokan and Kukulkan wanted someone to have an eye out.
Attuma was sure no human knew about their city, nor were they looking for it, their presence on the small island in the middle of the water was way simpler.
To keep the ground managed and the lighthouse in shape.
Attuma checked the house and the light many many times. It was nothing but an old device, it wasn't looking under the water, not trying to find vibranium or anything.
A simple lighthouse to show sailors the way.
This was the first time Attuma had seen a woman on the island.
He scared off or killed many people on the island. Attuma needed to keep his home safe and when the humans got bored, they started to look. He couldn't have that.
Attuma assumed she would be just as easy to deal with.
He soon left, heading back to his home to report to Kukulkan.
---
You really thought this would be worse.
But your introverted self jumped on the opportunity as soon as you heard that you could work all on your own, on a lonely island in the middle of nowhere?
Sounds like a dream?
No? To you it did.
Alone with an easy job and a good salary.
You would get weekly supplies sent to you with a ship.
Sounded like a dream.
But you could also clearly see the red flags. First of all, the sailor who just dropped you off mentioned that you were the fifth that summer.
Meaning four people before you took the job and then left or worse.
You tried to joke that perhaps a shark took the others, but when you saw the look in his eyes... your smile fell.
The island looked nice, the lighthouse was also in rather good shape, and the small house next to it will be your home for a couple of months. Hopefully.
You thanked the man who showed you around before he headed back to his boat. With basic knowledge and some internet connection, you felt ready for the job.
"Be careful about storms! Out here they are very harsh! I suspect one of the kids before you must have been taken by a wave. Don't leave the house, nothing's worth your life." he said before getting on his boat and leaving.
You could say he was a grumpy old man.
But he had experience and you knew you had to listen to him.
And you did.
---
"All surface dwellers are dangerous! We must be cautious about her. As my general, I trust you the most to watch her. As long as you deem necessary." Kukulkan nodded at Attuma who agreed with the decision.
He will keep an eye on the woman.
He had been watching her for days now. Day and night, Attuma watched her closely trying to figure out her real purpose.
As one night fell, Attuma felt braver than before as he emerged from the water.
Studying her for days, he knew her routine. A simple routine, easy to remember.
Since Kukulkan didn't deem the woman to be killed, Attuma wanted more information which he can present to his King.
Attuma walked quietly but with precision. He found the door unlocked and entered slowly, hearing soft snores coming from inside he was more confident that she was asleep.
He walked around the small house but found nothing of interest only her personal belongings, books, clothes, and a laptop.
He then walked to the bedroom. He had been in that house before. Once he took a man from the bed into the ocean.
The man had been looking underwater, mumbling about people he saw in the water. He was a danger.
Attuma watched her sleep soundly.
She looked very comfortable and calm. She was completely unaware of the danger right in front of her.
Attuma watched her for a moment before heading out again.
Reporting back to his King the next morning.
Kukulkan was still not convinced and Attuma was sent back to watch her.
---
You, completely unaware of the attention, continued your job as you were supposed to.
Two weeks now have passed and the old man arrived with your food for the upcoming week. As usual he made no effort to chat, he dropped off your food and necessities before getting back on his ship with the list you handed him of things you would need.
But you were okay with it. He doesn't have to talk with you if he doesn't want to.
You were back in your routine.
Another couple days passed. And it seemed like the wonder of being alone started to wear off.
Not even the fact that you missed human interaction, you missed the shops.
You would kill for some Burger King right about now, but all you had is the lasagna you prepared yesterday or some ice cream. That did sound rather amazing right now.
You let out a sigh and decided to check the snack drawer.
With a twix in hand, you went out to the porch and sat down.
For a couple of days now, you have been getting a feeling. As if you were being watched.
You were sure it was only your imagination and your secluded lifestyle at the moment which was getting to you.
---
Attuma watched you closely for the entire time. Watching you as you walked around the island, cleaning, planting new flowers, cleaning the lighthouse, and making sure it functions.
He watched you sleep. He found himself spending more and more time watching your sleeping form.
He was certain you weren't a threat. Not to Talokan, not to him, and not to anyone else.
You must be a gentle soul.
A beautiful and gentle soul.
Attuma never felt so conflicted in his entire life. He wanted nothing more than to talk to you, get to know you. And yet, here he was, a warrior, a general under Kukulkan. A man who never lost their vision of the most important thing, keeping Talokan safe.
In his mind, he knew what he was doing is wrong. He knew that his bravery in walking onto land even during the day was a great risk. He knew all of this and yet, his heart told him other things.
His heart told him to look after this precious woman, to keep her in his arms.
He never felt so uncertain in his entire life.
Sometimes he forgot that even if he was a general, a friend of Kukulkan, a warrior, he was also a man.
A man who lived a long life and has an even longer in front of him.
A man who never craved for a woman more than he is craving now.
But he knew it was wrong. He knew he must not have these feelings.
He knew he needed to find a solution.
Each day, he reported to Kukulkan. Each day he told him he was convinced the woman was no threat. But he feared his King might stop his investigation. Attuma feared he wouldn't be able to see you again.
"Thank you brother. You have been watching her for many days now. You may go back to your duties."
"I do wish to keep an eye on her still. If we send someone they might get seen." Attuma's reasoning was correct. Kukulkan however, sensed something else.
"Is she a warrior?"
"No, she tends to the gardens and feeds the seagulls. Sometimes he feeds the fish."
"Is she dangerous?"
"Certainly not. One of our weakest could take her down in a matter of minutes."
"Then why do you insist on watching her?" Kukulkan wasn't mad, he was more intrigued. He has never seen her brother like this.
"In case it is all an act. In case she communicates with others so they could find Talokan. I think it would be best if I watch her, in case my fears are correct and we need to jump into action." again, Attuma's reasoning was spot on. But something didn't feel right to the King.
"Did you perhaps grow some form of attachment?"
"Of course not, she is but a surface dweller." it almost hurt for him to say those words.
Kukulkan watched his brother closely, even if his people thought him to be a God, he was blinded by his rage and hatred. However, he would never want his brother to suffer.
"Keep an eye on her then. If what you assume is true, kill her. I don't require daily reports from now, weekly should be enough." Attuma nodded before he swam off.
Kukulkan watched Attuma leave, trying to hide his smile behind his hand.
---
That night, there was a terrible storm. Thankfully it hit after you already were done with your chores so you could hide inside the house.
You looked out the window but you weren't able to see much.
However, you swore you saw a head in the water.
You panicked. What if someone was drifted from a ship?
You grabbed your jacket and headed out into the storm.
There was thunder, the wind was crazy as you looked at the beach and the water.
"Hello?!" you yelled, trying to stay on the sand as the water raged. "Is someone there?! I can help you!" but no answer came and you saw no one. Slowly you walked a bit further, the ocean hitting your ankles. "IS SOMEONE THERE?!" you yelled from the top of your lungs. Trying to see the person you believe you saw again but the rain didn't help.
"HELLO?!" you tried once more.
You decided to head back but on your way a huge wave hit and you lost your balance, the water quickly dragged you in and soon, you were panicking.
You knew it was not helping, you tried to swim but you couldn't because the waves were too big. Then you were thrown against a rock and you hit your head. You were in and out of consciousness.
But you swore you felt a hand and an arm moving around you.
---
You woke up with a start and a terrible headache.
You swore you have been in the water, you should be dead but then why were you inside the house in your bed?!
Was it all a dream?
No. The little bump on your head said otherwise.
You tried to recall just how you managed to get back on shore and into the house but you couldn't.
Was it the adrenaline that kicked in?
You weren't sure.
You remember heading out to the beach because you thought you saw a head, trying to save the person you were taken in by a huge wave and nearly drowned. But you didn't.
How?
---
"You saved her." Kukulkan looked at his general, Attuma failed to notice the mischief in his King's eyes.
"She was drowning," Kukulkan smirked.
"You like her, Attuma. Just admit it."
"My King, I would never... a surface dweller? Unheard of."
"Not really. We do have people who were once living on the surface, you know that. Good and loyal people. And you did say she is a kind person."
"My King, Kukulkan I-"
"You must be torn, my brother. Having feelings like that must take a toll on a person even as strong as you are. But I have been told love is a stronger driver than hate. If she chooses so, she can live with you here." Attuma was stunned.
"Y-You approve of her?"
"She must be special if she caught your eyes, Brother." Kukulkan nodded as he felt as if a huge weight just got lifted off of his shoulders.
But it was put right back on when he realized he will have to know someone speak with you without scaring you.
He also didn't want to scare you so you would run and he would need to kill you before you could reveal his secret.
He couldn't help but recall the worry in your voice yesterday. How you called out for someone who you thought needed help. It almost lead to your demise. But at least he got to see you up close.
Attuma bowed to his King before leaving.
Now, somehow he had to come up with a plan and not scare you in the meantime.
---
You stood on the beach, looking at the water, trying to see something, anything.
You walked around the island at least three times now, trying to find the person you saw.
But now, you started to believe you were imagining things.
You went on with your routine but then something weird happened. Bones started to appear on the beach. You stood there utterly confused as to just how did a shark's skull end up on your beach? Only the skull as well, no body or other bones. Just a skull in the sand.
You were truly baffled.
And over the upcoming days, you found more and more bones.
Sea creature skulls and one time even an emerald necklace. It was a small emerald gem on a gold necklace.
It confused you more than the skulls did.
---
You let out a long sigh, as night soon arrived, you went back to your routine, turning the light on before walking back down the stairs.
As you turned around the house to put away your broom in the small shed at the back, you nearly tripped over when you saw a man standing there.
It was no ordinary man either. He had a shark skull on his head, weird clothes and blue skin.
Could it be that he was the man you saw last night?
You just stood there too stunned to say something. He was also clearly caught off guard.
"Do you live here?" you asked, assuming he lived on the island but he shook his head. He spoke in a language you couldn't understand. "Are you... injured?" he shook his head again, no, so he clearly understood you, so he must speak your language. Then you decided the best way to deal with this was by turning around and heading back inside the house.
As you turned the corner you turned back and looked at him still standing there.
So he wasn't your imagination.
Cool.
Or not?
You went into the house and sat down, looking at the door you tried to make sense of things. Then you heard the man walk onto the porch and the door opened slowly, he looked huge in the doorway. Not only tall but muscular as well.
You were sure he was there to kill you. Now you knew what happened to the others before you.
As he took a step inside you stood up from the chair.
"I won't tell anyone, I promise! But they will send more people if I disappear! They will look for me." you knew no one would care, but he didn't have to know that.
"Won't hurt you." he suddenly said and you didn't know if it scared you more or calmed you a little.
There was something about his voice which you found incredibly charming. A slight ring to it, like a melody.
You found it strange how someone so huge and blue and covered in bones could be so calming.
"Then what do you want? Are you the ones who left the bones on the beach?" he nodded once, the jewellery around him chiming at the movement. "Why?" you asked, voice barely above a whisper.
"Gifts. Talokan women like gifts from strong men, the most impressive gift will decide who can court the woman."
"Talokan? Is that your home?" he nodded again. "Hold on just a moment! Hold on! So, you live in the ocean? In Talokan? Are you the one who killed the people before me?"
"Couldn't trust them. Talokan's safety is the priority."
"So, you killed them, but you are leaving me gifts to court me?! I must be dreaming. This cannot be real... A blue man from the sea is trying to court me?! You must be joking!"
"I'm not. I would be a good partner to you. I'm a general under the King, I am loyal, a great warrior."
The way he looked dead serious, you must be dreaming.
This cannot be real.
You refused to believe that this was real.
You needed to pinch yourself, you must be dreaming, or last night, you died at this was your purgatory.
"Yesterday, you saved me?"
"You were drowning. I helped."
"You were the one I saw in the water, I went to help you and a big wave took me in. I was drowning, and what you put me back to bed?"
"Indeed."
"I-I need time to think."
Attuma understood, he handed you a shell. "Place this in the water and call for me, I am Attuma. I will come to you as soon as I can." and with that, he walked out of the house, you rushed to the door and watched him walk back into the ocean.
You were truly going mad.
The next day, you found yourself sitting on the sand, watching the water, you tried to gather your thoughts.
So, he was an underwater... man? He has been watching you because he is a general and has to protect his home. Okay... He killed the people before you because they were a threat to his people. Okay... And he wanted to court you... Like what?!
Was this some kind of a sick joke? No the man who drops off your food is not the pranking type.
So, it had to be real. But even the thought of people living underwater sent a shiver down your spine. But it did make a lot of sense. Androids, aliens, wizards and now, water-people. Why not?
You had a feeling your fate would be sealed if you tried to contact anyone about them. You had a feeling you would be dead in a matter of seconds if you tried to. Now it made sense why you felt as if someone was watching you all the time. He was monitoring you so he could report if you had done something.
You weren't going to lie, this all sounded extremely intriguing. You found Attuma to be very interesting, the mystery of it all.
He was huge and you could tell he was a great warrior but his eyes were so kind and soft.
The gifts he left you, were all intricately picked, cleaned and placed in the sand for you to find. You wondered how could you show him that you were interested. Flowers? Maybe not.
You held the shell which he handed you yesterday.
"Attuma." you whispered before letting it into the water, you watched as it was taken away. Soon, he started to walk out of the water.
"Did you make up your mind?" he asked and you nodded. "Then please, let my torture end with an answer."
"I would like to get to know you better." you said as he stood in front of you.
You watched as his posture became more straight. His lungs filled with confidence. The mask on his face hides his smile.
"But I am terrified of water." this made him stop in his tracks. "Deep water,  of which you can't see the bottom of. Scares me to no end."
"Why?"
"When I was young, my grandma took me to the ocean one summer. I wandered in too far and nearly drowned. Ever since that day, I am terrified of deep water."
"Then I will help you."
"I know how to swim, I just..."
"I'll help you. I won't let you drown." he said as he took the mask off his face and guided it to your face.
With that, he helped you into the water, you clung to him like a baby koala would to their mother.
The mask did help you breathe normally which you were thankful for.
"I will help you get comfortable in the water. Then, we will work from there."
"Thank you." you watched as his skin changed from blue to a gorgeous brown, it made you smile. Now, you could see his face without the mask and he was rather handsome.
You swam around a lot that day, to the point where you got rather tired. Attuma had to carry you back to the house.
It became somewhat of a routine for him. You cleaned up the island as you normally would, water your plants before he would take you on swimming lessons.
He was a really good teacher.
He told you what to do and never pushed you further than you were willing to go.
Even if you were shaking with fear, you still wanted to learn. At least it gave something for you to do and look forward to.
Each day you got more and more used to having him around. Each passing day, you started to see him for who he was, not the scary blue water man but Attuma.
He talked a lot about his home and his people. He shared the story of his people with you, how ancient his society was and how they survived for so long.
He talked about his king, Kukulkan, Attuma said he was like a brother to him.
You also told him about yourself. Telling him about your family and how you grew up and how you ended up in the middle of the ocean. Oh how glad he was that you two met.
One rather cold morning, you stood on the beach, waiting for him but he was late.
He was never late.
You were worried something might have happened.
You spent all day on the beach, worried sick.
You only headed back when the rain started.
You sat on the porch, watching the water, but soon, it got dark.
You were very worried but you needed to head inside or you might catch a cold.
The next morning, you did the same, sitting on the sand just waiting and waiting. But somehow, he didn't come.
Now, you were angry-worried.
"FINE! THEN DON'T COME! AS IF I CARE!" you yelled before you kicked the sand and headed to get some work done.
Occasionally glancing at the water, but nothing.
You sat once again on the porch, bouncing your leg up and down.
The sun was at it's highest point and you were already finished. You cleaned more than you should have. In your last desperate attempt, you walked to the beach and collected shells, sending them into the water one by one. After you sent the fifth you noticed someone emerging from the water. You watched him as he just stood there, a shell in your hand.
"Are you hurt?" he asked as you could see his eyes checking you. You threw the shell at him, it bounced off of his chest and back into the water.
"Where were you?!"
"I was-"
"Do you know how worried I was?!"
"I-"
"I was worried sick! I thought something happened! And then you come waltzing out of the water as if nothing happened?!"
"Waltzing? What's th-"
"How dare you! Do you know what you did to me?!" a tear ran down your face. "I was so worried, I thought you got hurt or worse!"
"We had some issues with Wakanda. I'm sorry. Kukulkan needed me, Talokan needed me." he spoke as he walked closer to you.
"I needed you." you said before hugging him.
Attuma didn't even realize just how attached you got to him, while he knew he was already in love with you, he failed to realize that you share similar feelings.
It was hard for him to stay away from you. But he needed to, he would think about you every given moment. Even as he was fighting all he could think about was you.
"I missed you too." he admitted as his arms moved around you. He had to mind his own strength.
"I want to go with you, live with you. Like the people you told me about."
"Would you really? You want to live with me?"
"Of course, the last almost two days without you made me realize just how much I love you, Attuma. I want to go with you, live with you, marry you. I want you, if you will have me." He removed his mask and leaned down, capturing your lips with his in a soft kiss.
"I will prepare everything, My Love. Tomorrow, I'll come and get you, in case you change your mind-"
"I won't." you reassure him as you both smiled at one another.
Attuma has never swam faster than on that day, going straight to his brother to tell him the news who was happy for him.
They got a fruit prepared and both went to you the next day.
"This is my king, Kukulkan." said Attuma as he introduced you two. "And my king, this is the woman who captured my heart."
"Welcome to Talokan. Your turning might be painful, but it is necessary so you can come and live with us."
"I'm prepared for the pain because I know happiness awaits me." you smiled at Kukulkan as he nodded.
"My brother chose well." he handed you a blue flower and you took a deep breath. Kukulkan turned and left you alone.
Attuma took a step closer to you as he watched you with careful eyes.
"I will miss the flowers."
"You can come visit when you wish."
"For sure, one day I want our children to see the place where we fell in love." Attuma laughed a little and you offered him one last smile before taking the plant.
You were ready for your new life with him.
ok i’ve had time to sit with this viewing of wakanda forever and im only going to try to add things i haven’t spoken about before UNLESS my opinion on something has changed. i do have namuri and okoyuma brainrot so excuse any shipper nonsense you don’t care about 🥴
L O N G P O S T 👇🏾
Small Details I Noticed:
as t’challa was being carried to the city of the dead after the funeral two wakandan ships cross in the sky like they’re doing the wakandan salute
when ramonda meets with the united nations she wears purple and gold symbolizing how she’s “taking care of business” like killmonger
the color red is associated with tradition in wakanda and everything new is associated with the color the blue and blue typically is associated with what element? water
aneka and ayo are so cute 😙
the shift from background music to it being diegetic sirens was masterful
i couldn’t figure out why namor said shuri was the first surface dweller in talokan but he had a suit. then i realized duh it was from the start of the movie 🥴
Why does no one go for the Talokanil masks
t’challa falls in love with a river tribe girl, ramonda finds comfort by sources of water I don’t find it coincidental at ALL her whole family has ties to water.
every time he issues a threat Namor is looking at Ramonda but when he sets the shell down to ask them to call? he looks at shuri.
shuri wears white while she’s working in her lab because she’s still in a mourning period.
shuri’s tribe wears red namor is represented(partially) by blue and what color does shuri wear when she’s taken to his domain? purple.
I JUST REALIZED T’CHALLA JR IS THE KID THAT WALKED UP TO RAMONDA
NAMOR IS NOT THE VILLAIN. IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE TOLD SHURI THE SURFACE WOULD ATTACK THEY CUT TO A SCENE OF THEM PLANNING TO ATTACK WAKANDA
attuma is down horrendous he ain’t even join the fight in wakanda he just went looking for okoye. STAND UP.
namor and shuri pausing to stare at each other before she shoots cause they really don’t want to fight 😐
people keep saying ross’ scenes weren’t necessary and yet fully missed that namor was proved right by his scenes
N’Jadaka TOLD YALL ramonda gave her life to save riri. (doesn’t justify namor’s actions but don’t take away her agency)
shuri’s panther ears on her helmet point down like she’s ready to pounce whereas t’challa’s pointed up showing he was docile
shuri’s actions fully show us namor’s origin and how he ends up as adamant and stubborn as he is. their hatred turned them into warmongers shuri is just able to stop herself before she does something truly irreversible.
namor is such a loser he really thought shuri was finna call him on his shellphone.
in the midst of everything she remembers holding hands with namor as they watched the sunrise…hm.
Random Thoughts I Had During the Movie:
That chairman who introduced Ramonda was fine as hell
That french lady shook her head like her men ain’t break into that lab that’s wild.
Attuma’s first entrance (on the ship) had me grinning from ear to ear like “HEY BIG DADDY!”
Namor can really be brutal as fuck. The way those agents were screaming as their helicopter was spun into the ocean was scary as hell! (i’m still on his side tho ✋🏾🫱🏾liik’ik talokan)
hi anderson cooper!
i wonder why ramonda cut her hair
when shuri told her mother K’uk’ulkan was covered in vibranium he looked at her like “oh so you looked me over?” 😁
the jibari are hilarious
mbakus very silly but he has a big heart and is clearly very wise
nah okoye is right the midnight angel suit is u g l y
i cannot fully express how annoying i find de fontaine
riri my darling baby girl i love you
okoye don’t look ashy and i’m tired of them coming at my good sis
okoye is so funny 😭
the car chase scenes are always the best in these movies
i need the wakanda forever script
attuma GROWLED at okoye just kiss already
i like that attuma got his own whale and everybody else gotta share
ross is such a smol little guy who’s scared of him 🥴
angela was acting her ass off we know this but you know who else? danai. yup. i should watch the walking dead
everybody in this movie fine as hell
nakia should be in more avengers movies
nakia grew them dreads fast
their shaman was fine too everybody is HOT
why is de fontaines hair purple she looks twelve
if namor got in my face like that i’d kiss him idk
shuri fully forgot she was wearing that man’s bracelet until it was pointed out to her
mbaku’s face when he saw that whale underwater took me out.
see namor dodging shuri’s fire makes no sense he literally stands still when he’s being fired at initially and then hits the ship fire out of the air with his spear.
riri don’t listen cause ramonda definitely told her ass to run
i just-don’t get namor sometimes because he fully could have killed the scientist and shuri and he clearly doesn’t care about eternal war he just DOESN’T DO IT.
Nakia’s funeral outfit is beautiful
i will fully admit that the beauty of tenoch blinded me to namor’s brutality. that man is vicious.
aneka is so funny
iron heart has such a cute anime suit i kinda love it and hate it
we’ll probably see a different one since she can’t take it home though.
there’s something so silly about the way shuri and mbaku start to arm wrestle
the way he said “princess” and stared at her on the ship…he wanted to fuck so bad omg.
the lighting when shuri gets stabbed is insane, it becomes less saturated and green and i really like it 😗
namor’s little butt jiggle as he fell?? lol
the dissenting wakandans and talokanil are going to be a problem moving forward. they’ve each lost people and they’re not gonna let that slide.
WHY SOMEBODY BOO WHEN ANEKA KISSED AYOS HEAD. FUCK OFF HOMOPHOBE
Final Thoughts:
I really love this movie obviously but i think Tenoch being hot kinda blinded me to how cruel Namor can really be. Cause the whole time i’m thinking, he’s hot and he’s right i’m on his side. In general he doesn’t use excessive force and he gives people ample opportunities to stop fucking with him before he really goes off tho.
I still stick with my assessment that Namor isn’t a villain and you’ve missed the point if you think he is, that his actions weren’t justified but i understand he needs to protect his people so it’s not without reason.
I don’t understand why people think shuri shouldn’t have been the black panther okoye is in the dora, nakia is a spy who else was gonna be the panther?
i don’t know exactly why but this movie excites me and i am growing to love it more than any other marvel movie. this is most likely the last time ill see it in theatres since i don’t want to make myself bored with it but i’m really thankful to ryan and co for putting this out they did chad justice
