Urbangarde Lyrics: Tokyo Umare (東京生まれ; Born in Tokyo)
English translation and romanization below the cut. Thank you @barbarasexeroid for the coffee!! <3
ENGLISH
If you’re born in Tokyo, and will die in Tokyo
Then sometimes you ask about the air in the city
I tried to finish off all the romance and medicine
And rock ‘n roll wherever I happened to be
But if you were born in Tokyo, and will die in Tokyo
The traffic in the city’s not all that bad every now and then
Take the gold and words and chocolate bar you got a while ago
And then buy ‘em and eat ‘em
Go buy a stamp
My strawberry stress cake
And your Krispy Kreme donut talk
Are both melting into the chemical-washed sky
I wanna be brainwashed and then dream. It’d be so pretty
Where are the stressberry fields?
I don’t hear any baby boomer talk
Bomb the post office, cut up your portfolio
Melt into the chemical-washed sky and be gone
Even if I was born in Tokyo and will die in Tokyo
The minute hand on my watch is always 3 minutes fast
There’s plenty of romance and medicine and rock ‘n roll
To go around at the cafe in the trattoria
Gotta make it in time for tea
The girl is just like Alice
Gotta make it in time for her date
The dystopia’s in bits and pieces
We’ll all be alone when we die
That’s one of the rules of the city
When you fall in love, you’re not
That’s another one of the rules
A long goodbye will leave you all alone
That’s just one of the rules of the city
Then you’ll meet someone else and kiss
That’s the rule
When you’re born in Tokyo and then die in Tokyo
The air in the city is shiny and bright
I vented ‘cause the romance and medicine and rock ‘n roll
Were all crammed in like sardines
But when you’re born in Tokyo and then die in Tokyo
You get sandwiched in by all the traffic in the city
Take your gold and words and chocolate bar
And have a car chase, make it into calligraphy
If she makes it in time for tomorrow’s party
She’ll be pretty groovy
If she makes it in time for her date
She’ll be in a utopia
When you stare, you’re all alone
That’s one of the rules of the city
When your eyes meet someone else’s, you’re not
That’s another one of the rules
When you go on a journey, you’re all alone
That’s just one of the rules of the city
Then you’ll meet someone else and say ‘merci beaucoup’
That’s it
We’ll all be alone when we die
That’s one of the rules of the city
When you fall in love, you’re not
That’s another one of the rules
A long goodbye will leave you all alone
That’s just one of the rules of the city
Then you’ll meet someone else and kiss
That’s the rule
So let’s follow it
That’s one of the rules of the city
So let’s follow it
That’s one of the rules of...

19th "Hitohako Book Flea" rojiroji books, this year we opened again
Yanesen is famous for the Azalea Festival of the Nezu shrine, but another event called “Hitohako Book Flea Market” is a popular event in the area that attracts attention among the likes of book lovers. "Hitohako Book Flea Market" which became a popular event held nationwide now, but the birthplace is here Yanesen area. We rojiroji books were also opened in the event.
This is the second rojiroji books to be opened this year. As of last year, the application for the opening of the store began on March 3 at 22:00, and after that, I prepared a little bit in between work for two months. I managed to join the event this year, but the acceptance was full in just a few 10 minutes this year, so it very popular. It is really a narrow gate.
Well, that is the day. It is Sunday, we gets up early, and we faced our place called "nursing home Yanaka". The old book which I stuffed in a cardboard lid box was put on a carry cart and we walked down the Dango-Zaka slope. The wheels sounded squeakyly. I me a lot of thoughts while walking. Is there anything left home? Will the book which I prepared sell really? If it does not sell, I have to rise this dumpling slope again. Mix's anticipation and anxiety. When I saw the side, Miyako was worried about the lunch while walking in carefree. It seems to have been hungry too early. She always cares about eating!
We came to the conclusion that there was not enough lunch, and bought a rice ball before opening the store. Miyako and me, each two each.
Greetings to staffs when I got to the venue. I set up a box by making a place with scissors. rojiroji books's "box" was the same as last year. It is completed when the book is arranged and the signboard is applied. This venue is 13 places besides this nursing home. 69 boxes (stores) are scattered in the Sendagi-Yanaka-Nezu area.
Missed miyako when noticing by chance relieved. I look wondering where it disappeared, and I was browsing in a shop somewhere before the opening... She is always free.
So that's eleven o'clock. It is the start of Hitohako Book Flea Market. Soon after that, some people visited the venue. Everyone has a quick start. The early hours are also a lot of preliminary inspection, so it is also pounding carefully.
It was lunch time when I noticed it, but we couldn't find time to take off the seat because there is a visitor continuously. Well, I can take turns because we are two, but I can't leave the box because I can't afford the feeling. So, I decided to bite a little bit in between customer service. Before the rice ball, we ate two pieces of bagel called "Tabi Suru Bagel" bought on Kitte Street yesterday. Miyako made the smoked salmon sandwich for that. "Tabi Suru Bagel" is really good. It was worth waiting more than half an hour to buy. I feel the energy of the bagel and the rice ball was charged by the evening.
More customers in the afternoon. There are more opportunities for conversation with them, but most of the books are Miyako's, and it was her role mainly to talk about books and writers. It was the one that the exchange through the favorite book rises even with the person of the first meeting.
I was blessed with fine weather on this day. But the weather was too good to measure the heat. It had to wear a hat and opened my umbrella sometimes because it hit the direct sun from the morning till 15:00. I hope the next time (if I have a chance) can open in the shade. The people who were shopping around felt also very hot I think.
And at 16:30. It was the closing time. The endgame was a bit tiring. but our neighborhood visited us, and it is gotten to the voice "I am a fan of rojiroji" from the first meeting, and we reaches the goal somehow by being supported by such people. Thank you very much for coming to our rojiroji books. In addition, many people cooperated with rojiroji magazine's donation. Thank you again for all.
I finished the summary of the sales and cleanup, and participated in the closing ceremony after a little break. Then we went out to launch. First was "Beer Pub Ishii", the next was Nitaka which is the sister restaurant of "Ichi Fuji" and the next was "NZ Bar & Wine Shop" ladder. We felt so good.
We spent the Golden Week in the local community, but it was also good to enjoy the non-daily activities that I participated in local events. I would like to participate in Hitohako and hopefully next year.

Hello!!
Do you have any recommendations for jdrama/any series that has someone fat, plus size as protagonist or as an important character for the series that you thought was good? I am always searching for media with people who have bodies like me and are living their life gloriously. I feel like i didn't grow up with stories which represented life of people with bodies like.
I appreciate your content here so much. Please stay and post only when you feel like it but stay
🌻
Unfortunately, there is still a lack of curvy representation in jdrama or asian drama in general. A few I could think of:
- Tabi Suru Sandwich
- Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna
- Hitotsubashi Kiriko no Hanzai Nikki
- Kanna-san! (haven’t seen this one yet but it’s on my watchlist)
And thank you for your kind words! I’ll be around. ❤️
