Overhaul for the character ask!

How I feel about this character:

Blorbo of all time. He is sooooo me. On a more serious note, there was so much possible characterization that BnHA dropped into him--so much juicy potential--and it was all wasted. Pair that up with him being an antagonist who did horrible things and it was like a perfect storm to get me way too invested in him lmao. Also, I recently had a pretty unwelcome revelation about myself about how I usually find the major antagonists/villains of a show that unwittingly self-sabotage through social incompetence/bluntness/lack of empathy relatable which does not bode well for my social life hahaha but that's oversharing so I'm just gonna--

All the people I ship "romantically" with this character:

Disclaimer: I actually usually headcanon him as aro, so often the "romantic" shipping I have for him isn't actually romantic but sexual and/or queerplatonic, because I'm taking this as a question for 'who do I ship him with in a way that isn't just conventional friendship or in a familial/family-esque relationship'.

Kurono Hari: My main partner for the guy, and any OT3s I form for Kai are pretty much always going to have Hari as the second member, with the third varying. I have seen and do enjoy outright romantic Chronohaul, but when I write it I'll usually make an effort to make it either explicitly queerplatonic or Definitely A Relationship but not really a romantic relationship, ykno? Usually I like to think that they've been together for a while even before the show starts, in a solid years-long committed relationship that probably started (if not in its current form) when they were teenagers. I really like the idea of two similar people having found each other and finding strength and understanding in each other even as they're so different from everyone else around them, even if they end up reinforcing each other's destructive tendencies. Also, it's T4T. That part's very important.

Dabi: Funny story, I ended up watching BnHA because some of my online friends were huge DabiHaul shippers, so that was the ship I was primed for. And then I got attached to Chisaki and every other named character in the Hassaikai and ended up primarily shipping Chronohaul, and Dabi ended up usually being their third and shipped with both. I imagine that this ship (Chronodabihaul) is purely a sexual one, a fuckbuddy type thing for stress relief. It may or may not develop some stronger commitments/feelings later on, if and when the League and the Hassaikai stop virulently hating each other (and if/when Dabi stops being so obsessed with revenge), but that's not really a given.

Aizawa Shouta: This is definitely not a ship that's on the forefront of my mind, but it still has a soft spot in my void of a heart. Just like Dabi, I can very much see him in an OT3 with Chronohaul, although I feel like Aizawa would be in a much more long-term relationship with them. I can also see he and just Kai having an emotional short-term fling, but that would either cool down into just-friends or Hari would end up with them after a while, making it the OT3. Also, I have an angsty soulmate AU oneshot WIP that focuses on Overzawa, so.

Nemoto Shin: I don't actually really ship this character with Chisaki (I hc Chisaki as romance repulsed aroallo and Nemoto as sex-repulsed alloace), but I have an priest/demon AU in my WIPs that's got some heavy Nemotohaul implications, so I think I'd be remiss not to mention him here.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

I have several, actually:

Lady Nagant, aka Tsutsumi Kaina, of course. I know a lot of people on Tumblr like to ship Sniperhaul, but it just doesn't interest me. Seems kind of shallow, honestly (apologies to any Sniperhaul shippers reading this). I see them better as bickering sibling types after Chisaki heals at least a little bit from solitary confinement. And also as mlm/wlw solidarity.

I really like the idea of Chisaki taking Yaoyorozu Momo under his wing, teaching her chemical formulas for poisons and tips and tricks for combating performance anxiety. (I also really like the idea that they're genetically related...and don't find out until well after they've established their mentor/mentee relationship lmao.)

Nemoto Shin again, since I usually like him and Chisaki as close friends. Chisaki goes to him for questions like "what the fuck am I feeling and how do I make it stop" or "how the hell do emotions work".

Also, weirdly enough, when I'm imagining the sort of AU where he gets thrown in some labyrinth and has to figure out how to survive/get out with a bunch of other characters it's unlikely he'd interact with otherwise, I think Midnight might actually like him. She'd think he's cute. He wouldn't like Midnight back though.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Do you mean unpopular for the wider fandom, or just among people that like this specific character? Because if it's the first, then all of my opinions for this character are unpopular, but if it's the second, then I'm not sure I have unpopular opinions/headcanons on him so much as opinions/headcanons that aren't widely held and/or thought about. I'm gonna list some that might be considered 'unpopular' among Chisaki/Hassaikai fans, although I'm not actually sure they are:

Pops wasn't a good parent. I imagine him something like the (fanon) Fenton parents from Danny Phantom; affectionate and kind, but only when he a) remembers to pay attention and b) Kai isn't in trouble. Unfortunately, these times are few and far between. Kai ends up as the 'weird kid' a lot during his childhood/teenage years and becomes the automatic scapegoat, and Pops doesn't even question any accusations brought against his kid, which doesn't help the fact that Kai has been conditioned not to speak up for his own innocence by teachers and other authority figures punishing him for 'talking back.' So it ends up with most of Kai's memories being of Pops punishing him for things he never did, being part of The System that hurt him so bad, and with Pops having this concept of Kai as a Bad Kid(TM) that's mostly unearned, and it escalates to the point where Chisaki feels safer with Pops in a coma than with Pops talking and walking around even as he craves Pops' affection.

Objectively speaking, at least from a utilitarian/obligation perspective, Chisaki is morally better than Enji. I'm so sorry for this proxissima, but Kai only hurt one kid that wasn't his actual kid--it was a child that someone else gave to him with vague instructions to 'figure out her Quirk' and he didn't feel like he could refuse, whereas Enji had four children for the purpose of surpassing All Might and traumatized them all with his lack of care for their wellbeing, albeit in different ways. Obviously, Kai had an obligation to not be shitty to a kid, but Enji had extra obligations because those were his actual kids that he had on purpose. Also, Kai grew up in the probably highly toxic and violent yakuza, whereas Enji went into law enforcement and therefore should have more regard for the fact that, at least, child abuse is fucking illegal.

Chisaki legitimately cares about the Expendables/Bullets/Precepts of Death, and considers himself an Expendable. I'm not sure entirely how to explain this one, but I greatly prefer the idea that Chisaki took in many of the Expendables (minus Rappa, who followed him home) because he understood the kind of shit they were going through over what was implied in canon (that he manipulated them into being super loyal to him so that he could throw them away).

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

MORE CHARACTERIZATION! ANY CHARACTERIZATION! Especially characterization that showed actual positive traits! Yes, the remorse he showed for putting Pops in a coma after the prison break was arguably a step in the right direction, but it was also tied up in some really weird ableist/sanist connotations about how "this was his punishment" or something, and Deku (obligatory fucking Deku) still demanded that he feel more remorse about what he did to Eri even though he wasn't mentally all there, and also demanding that people feel certain emotions in general is entitled and shitty. Even though the narration of BnHA clearly makes out Deku to be the ultimate moral authority in the story.

Like--it's just so fucking obvious that Chisaki was made just to be a generic evil villain for Deku to beat up without the audience questioning why he's so blatantly betraying his professed ideal of "save everyone" and for Shigaraki to play off against to make him look better. And it wasn't even done well. This man is clearly mentally ill from like the first time we see him, and solitary confinement only exacerbated it. One thing I would have loved to see in canon, instead of All Of That, was if Deku guessed that Eri was being abused and ended up blatantly wrong, taking away a child from a loving home after she's already had trauma from accidentally Rewinding her father out of existence and her mother treating her as a monster and abandoning her. Hell, you could still have the Quirk-erasing bullets in play--just have Chisaki take and start cloning a red bone marrow sample from Eri so that he has enough blood without harming her more than a single surgery.

Yea, that was definitely way longer than you probably wanted, and it took longer than I wanted, but I have a Lot of thoughts on this guy. I'll answer the other two requests at a later date, because I need to study for and take at least one final today.

okay hi cracks my knuckles. i want you, the reader, to submit Rashmelie (Rashmi Jamil and Amelie Macon) from Entropic Float. (i also want you, the reader, to play Entropic Float, which is available for free on steam and itch, but thats not really what this ask is about)

they have been pining for at least twelve years: the earliest record we have on them having feelings for each other is when they were 14 and Rashmi was leaving the town the two of them grew up in, while during the events of the game theyre both 26. if youve been following the t4t swag competition, you wouldve seen them there:

thats them! they are both canonically trans, Rashmi being agender (they/them) and Amelie being a trans woman (she/her). ooo you want a canonical t4t couple in this competition so badly.

unfortunately, i have not saved the rant i typed up on them in my own submission, so i cannot repeat all of that here to convince you about their pining in particular; what i can say is that one of the things the author of the game says about them is "it was always going to be them and it very nearly wasnt them" - during these years, Rashmi got married, and one of the first things we learn about their husband is that he has a substance problem and that he pushed them down a flight of stairs, which wouldve killed them had they not ended up in the anomalous clocktower, where the game takes place

Any advice for new tumblr accounts? I just joined and I have no clue how to grow a following? -shy anon lol

oh boy this isn't something i've really thought about before.

when i first joined tumblr in 2013 i wasn't looking to grow a following, i just knew some artists i liked were on here and i wanted to see what they were posting. it wasn't until years later i started posting my own gifs and art over on my main blog. follower counts aren't public but i don't mind sharing if it helps so on @emptymasks which i've had since 2013 and at times have posted a lot of gifs, art and fisc too and at other times have gone months and months without posting any of that because i don't see tumblr as a social media to like make money off or anything, it's just fun, i have 2988 on my main blog.

this blog dervampireprince has existed since december 2020 but it was a different blog with a different name until march 2021 when it became dervampireprince. so this blog has existed posting 18+ writing since march 2021 and audios since december 2021 and i have 3682 followers over here. never expected this blog to me my post popular but i'm not complaining.

tumblr isn't like other social medias, you can't see other users follower counts, following counts, and recommended and trending posts don't get thrown at you. you mostly only see posts from people you follow. yes there are recommended posts now but if you're an older tumblr user like myself you may use Xkit which is a 3rd party extension for tumblr that adds a bunch of features (blocking posts with certain words in them, mass tag editor/replacer, an outbox, ad blocker, use tumblr using older themes and layouts, etc) so some people don't get any recommended posts.

there's only one way to get your posts noticed by people on tumblr and that's using tags correctly, and relying on people who check their favourite tags to notice your posts. now a lot of people must not be like me, because i don't check tags for things very often, but clearly a lot of people do or my posts would have no notes. what tags you use though is going to depend on what type of post you're making. you can use up to 20 tags. tumblr will let you type more than 20, but anything above tag 20 won't be searchable, as in if you 21st tag is [marvel], your post will not show up under search results for marvel unless it's tag 20 or lower, not on tumblr general search nor in search results on your own blog.

(sidenote - tumblr's search used to take you to tumblr.com/tagged/[thing you searched for] and years ago they changed it to tumblr.com/search/[thing you searched for]. you can still get to the /tagged page by typing it in the URL bar, /tagged always shows most recent posts first which i prefer and also if you searched for [loki] then /tagged would only show you posts where the word loki is tagged, whereas /search shows you posts that have loki tagged and have the word loki typed in any text in the actual post. which is annoying and you end up with non relevant posts showing up in certain tags)

so for example if i'm writing a nsft writing posts these are the tags i tend to use are: #nsft nsftumblr #nsft concept #nsft fantasy #nsft writing #ftm nsft #mlm nsft #nblm nsft #t4t nsft #trans nsft #trans man nsft #transmasc nsft #lgbt nsft #bi nsft . Now all those tags aren't relevant to every nsft post, some are gender specific, but you can find what other tags exist by just checking the general #nsft and #nsftumblr tags and seeing what other people use as tags when they post.

(and having xkit means i don't have to remember and type these out every time, i just have them saved as a tag bundle and one click and they all go in the tags)

or for example if i'm making a post on my main blog for a sandman drawing i've down i'd use the tags: the sandman #dream of the endless #sandman #fanart #hob gadling #dreamling #dreamgadling #hob x dream #dream x hob #morpheus #lord morpheus #myart #sandman fanart #the sandman fanart . And then people find it through the fandom and ship tags mostly.

Of course if you already have followers then your followers will see your posts no matter if you use any tags or none, but tags are the only way to get people who aren't following you to see your post, and hope that some of them reblog it so their followers can see (unlike social medias like Twitter, like aren't public here, your followers can't see what posts you like, and even if you set your likes to public they can only see them if they go to a specific page on your blog, your likes don't show up in their dashboard/timeline like they do on Twitter).

This is my oldest original piece of writing on here

I had somewhere between 1-10 followers at the time and currently it stands at 52 notes. I didn't use many tags, I didn't know about the existence of many tags, but I used the few I knew about and specific kink tags and people noticed it.

And as always it's the posts you spend ages writing that get fewer notes than one silly sentence you post at 2am thinking no one will notice

Because that still sits at my post popular post on this blog. And despite this blog having much more followers than my main, my post popular post ever is a Loki themed edit I did where I just posted 9 photos from fashion editorials, recoloured them to be green and black and gold, and it got to over 15k notes within a few months and none of my posts here are close to getting that many. Follower count doesn't reflect how popular a post can get.

Basically tags are your best friend on this site, use them wisely, don't use more than 20. It doesn't hurt to follow and interact with other blogs who are posting similar content to you, your followers are going to see any posts you reblog as well as your original posts. I've never approached another blog trying to be mutuals or friends before, if I end up getting to know anyone it just sorta happens from us seeing each others names a lot in our notes and sending asks to each other. Like with with aspiring-house-husband for example, I never sent them a message saying 'can we be friends' because that's kinda creepy, I just was reblogging a lot of their writing, chose to engage by sending them some rp asks, complimenting their writing, and then i realised they'd reblogged from me, small world, and speaking of Fawn, in less than a year they got almost 7k followers which is insane and goes to show how talented at writing they are. If you're really only doing it for the followers then finding a niche can help, if you're wanting to write nsft stuff you could focus around certain kinks or creatures or something. I ended up focusing around royalty kink stuff, and I hadn't even heart of it until a couple months into making this blog so.

I hope some of that was helpful? My goal with my main tumblr was just to be able to see art other people posted, making this tumblr yes I did hope for people to reblog my writing and I liked the idea of being a nsft blog people followed, but I didn't have any plans that I would make audios and end up making income off this stuff, it just happened that by the time I wanted to make audios I was lucky that 1. people were already following me and 2. I was making them for a new fandom that was really popular at the time (Arcane).

Yeah that was long, hope it helped, I don't know what sort of content you want to make and tumblr isn't like other socials, there's no 'tumblr influencers' and you can't get sponsored or monetized posts or get payed to host ads on your blog or anything like that so I can only tell you so much.

EDIT: I remembered something else! There are some blogs called source blogs, these blogs are normally centered around a fandom, character, actor, ship, etc. For example marvelgifs is a blog that reblogs Marvel gifs. These blogs will check posts tagged with their username, not @ ing them in the post, but putting their username as one of your tags etc #marvelgifs . You can tag source blogs as a way to help get your posts potentially reblogged. Most of these blogs only post and reblog gifs and edits but some do also reblog fanart, fics and other content for example I also run a blog @europeanmusicals where I reblog and post all content about European musicals that I can find including fanart and writings, and I check the #europeanmusicals tag to see if there's posts people want me to notice to them reblog to that blog. I was able to set up that blog as I'd already been posting about European musicals on my main emptymasks blog for a year or two at that point and surrounded myself with others who like that content.

I see a lot of posts about couples who are either t4t or where both people are cis, but never any for couples that one of them is cis and the other is trans

My boyfriend and I are an example of this- I'm transmasc, he's a cis guy. I wouldn't feel comfortable ever dating another trans person bc of personal reasons

I've never actually seen another couple like us on here. Only seeing content of t4t/cis couples makes me feel a bit alienated from the rest of the communtiy. If anyone else on mlm/nblm tumblr is like us, please interact with this. It'd be nice to see that we're not alone and to have new blogs to follow

ok, so lets talk shipping, and what i mean by that largely is lets talk this fandoms lack of naunced takes when it comes to arguing for your favourite f/m ship over a queer one. firstly, lets not pretend the fetishization of mlm ships isn't real, i've been in famdom long enough to know and have witnessed that. but lets also remember that there is NAUNCE to what is and isn't fetishization. i, a queer, nonbinary person will ALWAYS prioratize queer ships over cishet ones, that includes lesbian, gay, t4t ships and anything in between, anything that isn't cishet is always going to be more appealing to me bc i am queer, and i write what i know which is gay, gay and more gay. this argument that the popularity of mlm ships like steddie and harringrove are 'only' popular bc the cishet girlies be fetishizing gay men isn't the hot take you think it is, not when:

1) fandom on tumblr is and always has been dominated by queer ship and queer muns 2) if you're arguring a m/f ship in favour of a NON-PROBLEMATIC (and frankly i'd argue that both steddie and harringrove are, come at me all you like two boys having a fight doesn't make their romantic compatability nul and void, they're teenagers ffs) gay ship that's ALWAYS going to come across as homophobia lite, and always gonna give me the ick.

3) not every mun on this hellsite is a women, there are plenty trans, nonbinary and cismale writers who ALSO want to represent what they know and love, how are y'all gonna arugue that queer people are 'fetishizing' other queer people bc of their shipping preferences? do you know how dumb that sounds?

i also wanna talk about why i don't ship stancy > steddie, and newsflash it's not bc i'm horny for gay men. stancy for me has never really been appealing, Nancy represents something Steve is not anymore, she represents something he has worked so hard to distance himself from and grown from, nancy will always be steve's first big love, she will always be important to him, but ultimately they are not compatable for a number of reasons. nancy lacks the emotional vulnerability (through no fault of her own, thanks for that karen and ted wheeler) to give steve what he needs, he comes from an equally fucked up family life where love has clearly never been given freely, steve is so touch starved and wants to be loved so bad, you can see it in the scenes from when him and nancy were dating, the way he would always be touching her in some sort of way, he craves love and emotional intimacy so badly but he doesn't quiet know how to seek it out. for steve, nancy represents this thing that got away, this loss, this love he wasn't worthy of, and i think at least from how i see it that is why he is still hung up on her (although, i argue that's mostly down to POOR WRITING since steve moved past nancy in s3).

steve and nancy want different things in life, nancy is career driven and focused (at least she use to be before she was victim to the duffers inability to give her any fucking developement beyond the same boring love triangle) steve is very family focused and he craves that bc of how his parents never really gave a shit, he has something to prove, he wants to be the dad he WISHED he had, that whole 'six nuggets' thing made me want to scratch my eyes out, because it was so OOC for one, and for two Steve fucking knowns nancy wheeler BETTER THAN THAT, steve knows nancy has a fucking boyfriend, and frankly the fact stancy shippers seem to forget this is astonishing to me.

nancy and jonathan are together when her and steve are on their end of the world longing looks bullshit, at the end of the day neither steve or nancy are capable of being in a relationship in canon as it stands in my opinion, they both have a lot of emoitonal growth and things to work though before they should be jumping into a relationship with anyone, much less each other, they have spend the last four years thoroughly traumatized by everything they have gone though, and that i think is what lead to the misplaced emotions and feelings in vol 2 between Steve and Nancy. they're trauma bonded, and while they can see comfort in each other in ways that outsiders couldn't give them, it doesn't make it healthy. Nancy deserves to go to college and live he dream without the same two fucking high school boyfriends, who frankly don't deserve her, she deserves to have a storyline that isn't centered around two boys who she can't even communicate affectively with, like steve and nancy dated for a few months when she was in sopphmore year, steve is now almost twenty, nancy is about to go off to college, they both need to move on with their lives and stop living in the past.

steve and eddie for me represent something new, a new beginning, in every sense of the word, for me, steve was so facinated by eddie in the sort of way that eddie was everything he wishes he could be, so unapologetically himself in spite of how he was treated for it, steve seen a bravemess in eddie he doesn't see in himself. they had to much potential for a beautiful, naunced love story, a chance for steve to find himself, and in eddie find that emotional intimacy and love he has craved for so long. and the fucking tragic 'almost' part of steve and eddie is what has me crying about them 7 months later, that almost tope will never not fucking destroy me, and ironically my another favourite almost ship is a cishet ship, its addison and mark from grey's anatomy, so hey ho will you look at that i don't hate the hetties after all!

anyway, this has been my hot take, unpopular opinion, however you wanna call it, cancel me for all i care i'll never stop shipping my loves, and ya know what, they do have hot sex, bc they're hot people. personality wise > looks wise too. personalities? sexy as fuck. hair? sexy as fuck. XD and while we're at it T4T steddie will always be steddie supremcy for me, so suck it up bitches i hc your two fave cis boys as trans on the daily lmao.
