Honestly though, this (what Ashe is pointing out) is exactly why I don't think GW could possibly end well. There's no "talking it over" after all the bloodshed (especially bloodshed started by them, and especially bloodshed started by them that didn't have to happen).
The way the narration leaves it "open" too at the end of GW just comes across as "it failed". It feels like... a kind of pointless story?
And I know some people might think that since Dimitri personally isn't as deeply affected by losing Matthias and so might be willing, that's still no good if his people and closest allies aren't. Rodrigue and Sylvain wouldn't be so forgiving, and I do think Dimitri would follow suit because that's his father (Rodrigue)'s closest friend and one of his own closest friends' father.
Add that to the fact that they have Sreng to deal with still (and I imagine sooner or Sylvain would figure out that Leicester had a hand in provoking Sreng to attack Faerghus) on top of losing Matthias and I imagine all the stress and aggravation wouldn't bode well for Leicester as far as Claude's thinking of things working out goes.
I just really can't see where GW goes afterward that would be "good" or works in Claude's favor at all. Maybe that was the intention and it was meant to be a route with a completely tragic ending, but apparently there are players who think it would end well and whatnot and I just can't see that happening (both from Faerghus' end and from Adrestia's end, the latter of which Claude discussed within GW itself).
If their intention was for a totally tragic ending, like yeah, I can see that... but as always the writing muddies the waters to make it sound good while something bad is happening. It keeps trying to have a positive spin on bad things as if they're just afraid to commit to a fully bad ending.

Because I can’t finish or work on my WIPs to save my life, here’s some random Gautier headcannons that have been twirling in my brain (maybe some are things I’ve said before? I’m sleep-deprived I apologize):
Gautier hair gets darker (Matthias’s color) as they age
It is super rare for Gautier’s to have a daughter, but Sylvain’s first child is a girl
Gautier crests struggle to activate during battle (when I played houses Sylvain never used his crest, except during his first hit against Miklan…the pettiness of a Gautier crest lol)
Most Gautier’s have a hoe phase, which I think contributes to the cheaters being Sons of Gautier
even Matthias was not above this rule during the academy and Rodrigue and Lambert used to call his partners the ‘flavor of the week’
Sylvain doesn’t know this and Matthias will commit treasonous acts on Rodrigue if his son finds out lol
When angry enough, Gautiers have an expression that makes nearly everyone weak in the knees
The first time Rodrigue sees the expression on Sylvain is the first time he actually sees Matthias in the boys face (we all know Syl looks like his momma except for that hair/eyes)
Matthias and Miklan’s brick wall physique is actually not ‘standard’. It’s not uncommon but not a norm either

Watches my brother play Engage. Sees Fogado crit and be flirty. -squints- “He looks like Inigo.” My brother shrugs, “Kind of I guess.” “Is he a playboy?” “Sort of.” “He will be my son.” “I know.”

i love characters who are so full of Anger and Rage and Hurt but hold it back and hide it with a more carefree/joyful demeanor and i love it when that anger slips through the cracks in their mask and I love it even more when they just finally snap and let it all out. when they have a chance to just go absolutely feral on those who hurt them. when they get to be terrifying and vengeful and merciless. they are a bottle of soda someone just dumped a whole pack of mentos into. they are a swimming pool of gasoline and someone just lit a match. their anger is a molotov cocktail and the fuse has been lit. they are on the war path and neither hell nor high water will stop them. if you're their target say your prayers because saying you're beyond fucked is putting it lightly
