“Hello, gorgeous. Come here often?”
“You could say that, my girlfriend happens to be a recurring customer”
Sliding the glasses up on her girlfriend’s nose, Lena leaned in and pecked her before offering that they called it a night, giving the hero slurring her words.

Supercorptober Day 18 “secret”
thanks to kmsdraws for the prompts
Kara keeps a different kind of secret from Lena
////
Kara stares out of the window of the Medbay, her eyes following Lena as she paces back and forth. She has a phone pressed to her ear, her hand gesturing around the empty space as she talks. She looks a little tired, a little worried. Kara feels at least a little guilty for the second.
"Ow!"
Alex steps in front of her suddenly, breaking her view of her wife. She looks both annoyed and concerned — more annoyed than concerned, if Kara's being honest.
"Oh, stop it. One that didn't hurt; your powers came back almost as soon as we got you under the sunlamps. And two, you deserved it."
Alex sighs and takes a deep breath, adjusting the sensors on Kara's chest as she takes one more reading.
Kara rubs her shoulder, glaring at Alex as she stares up at the monitors.
She can feel the places where the blood still sticks to her skin and in her hair. She needs a shower or, at the very least, a change of clothes, but Alex won't let her leave just yet despite the fact she is obviously healthy enough to be smacked on the arm.
"You should also be glad I'm the only one who seemed to notice the little stunt you pulled out there."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Alex scoffs, "You don't know what I'm talking about?"
She knew exactly what her sister was talking about.
"Stepping in front of Lena like that so you could take a full blast of Kryptonite square to the chest?"
And yeah, that sounded about right.
"You're lucky she didn't see you because she was too busy casting a spell that was going to save all of our asses."
Kara crosses her arms and sticks out her chest a little, causing some of the monitors to beep angrily.
"I was protecting her."
Alex unfolds Kara's arms and starts removing the offending wires.
"She had a protection shield up."
"It could have failed," Kara tries in her defense.
But Alex just raises her eyebrow, "Has it ever?"
"Well, no, but —"
"But what?"
Kara looks down, biting her lip.
"Nothing."
Alex steps closer, poking her right in the middle of the forehead.
"No, no, not nothing. Crinkle!"
Kara tries to duck away.
"Hey, ow!"
"Oh, stop with the ow," Alex crosses her arms, "tell me what's got you leaping in front of speeding bullets for no good reason."
Kara shifts in her place on the exam table. "It was an energy blast, not a speeding bullet." She looks up at her sister, "and I had a good reason," then up at Lena, still pacing in the hallway," like the best reason."
And before she realizes it, her thoughts are drifting past the walls around her and back to two nights ago in their apartment.
They had been lying together on the couch, Kara pressed against Lena's side, her head resting on her shoulder. Lena was reading a book while Kara tuned in and out of an old black-and-white movie playing in the background. It was one of those they had watched a million times, but neither could remember what it was called.
Kara's eyes had just started drooping shut when an odd sound got caught in her ear. She paused the movie and sat up a little.
"What?" Lena asked, looking up from her book.
"Nothing, sorry." I think I'm just tired.
"Do you want to move to the bed?"
"No, no, I'm good here."
Kara settled down again, tucking herself back into Lena's side.
But she couldn't get comfortable. And the more she tried to ignore the noise, the more it seemed to grow until it was all she could focus on. It was a steady sound, almost like a heartbeat, but not quite. It was too fast, too faint.
She sat up again, this time more slowly so as not to alarm Lena again.
Kara put her hand on Lena's stomach, feeling for the source of the noise, but there was nothing there.
"I ate enough dinner, I promise," Lena says with a chuckle, patting Kara's hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.
"No, sorry, it's not that."
Kara slides down a little more this time, her head resting just below Lena's breasts.
And there it was.
A heartbeat.
The faintest of heartbeats, but a heartbeat nonetheless.
Kara felt the gentle tug of Lena's fingers carding through her hair.
"Are you sure you're okay?" She asks after a moment, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Yeah," Kara replies just as quietly, her eyes welling up with tears as the reality of what she hears sinks in.
And she almost tells Lena right then — almost lifts her up from the couch and swings her around, and kisses every inch of her.
But there's a fear somewhere buried under all that joy that she could be wrong.
And if she's not, it's a moment she wants to be Lena's, for her to be the one who gets to shout it at the world first.
So instead, she just holds her a little a tighter, kisses her a little deeper, and asks forgiveness for the secret she will keep from her just a little longer.
Kara's thoughts snap back to the present and the medbay door swinging open so hard it hits the wall.
And all of a sudden, the sound that had been in her head became a steady rhythm that seemed to fill the whole room.
"Lena?"
Kara's heart raced right alongside it.
"What is it? What's wrong?"
But Lena just shakes her head and reaches for her, cupping her face in her hands.
"I-I'm fine, I wasn't fine, I-was, I wasn't feeling well yesterday —"
And then she starts pacing again, but the room isn't as big as the hallway, so really she just turns around and then turns around again, her hands running through her hair — phone still held in one of them.
Finally, she stops. Looks at Kara. Her blue-green eyes wider than they were a second ago, darker, but still impossibly beautiful.
"That was the doctor," she shrugs her shoulders, like it explained everything.
"I—I'm pregnant."
And maybe it did.
The words hung in the air for only a second before Kara had her in her arms, the two of them laughing and crying and everything in between as they clung to each other.
"I love you so much," Kara whispers into her hair, tears streaming down her face as she presses kisses to Lena's temple, her cheek, her jawline.
"I love you," Lena let fall back in between the breaths she was trying to find room for, her voice shaking slightly.
Gently Kara puts her back down on her feet but doesn't let go of her.
"Wait," Lena says suddenly.
"What? "Are you sure you're okay?" Kara asks, hands already starting to move across every inch of her.
But Lena just swats them away and then hits her on the shoulder.
"Ow."
Kara pulls her hands away, startled, and takes a step back. But Lena keeps her close, palm resting against the center of her chest, moving with her.
"You knew. The other night on the couch. You could hear them."
And Kara can only nod.
Lena hits her again.
And Kara leans her shoulder back to absorb the impact.
"Seriously, what's with all the hitting."
"That's why you stepped in front of me?"
Kara looks at her sister, who just has a knowing smirk on her face."
"Wha — how did you even find out about that?"
But Lena's face is soft, and her voice gentle.
"Darling..."
But Kara is already shaking her head before Lena has even finished speaking.
"I know, I know we agreed nothing would change just because you're my wife and that I can't just turn into some foolish idiot every time I think you might be in danger, but I-you'll have to forgive me just this once."
Lena steps back into her arms, and pushes the hair from her face, ignoring the dirt and blood that had dried onto her skin as she presses a quick kiss to her cheek.
"Just this once."
Kara nods, hands sliding from her hips up to the small of her back, bending down onto one knee so she can place a kiss on her stomach.
"Don't worry, little one, I'll always protect you and your mom."

Supercorptober 2022 Day 9: Fresh
ao3 fic link. series link.
It had started out as a small idea, a comment in passing from Kara about how she misses Eliza’s pecan pie. It sat in the back of Lena’s mind for a while, just this small voice in the back of her mind, saying that she’d make Kara happy if she somehow got her some of Eliza’s pie.
But that was all it was, a tiny thought, one she didn’t think she could manage.
Then it had come time to think of a birthday present for Kara. Lena could buy anything Kara wanted, could literally afford anything, but there was nothing that Kara wanted.
Except for the pie.
Lena’s first idea was to fly Eliza out for the weekend to surprise Kara, so she’d get to see her mother and a pie out of it, both of which would make Kara happy.
But those plans were ruined when a conference that Eliza was attending just so happened to be the same weekend as Kara’s birthday.
“I could teach you how to make it?” Eliza suggests. They’re on the phone, Eliza trying to help Lena come up with another idea for Kara’s birthday. Lena considered asking Eliza to make one anyway and they could get it delivered, but she’d wanted to give Kara a fresh pie, she’s not sure how well it would travel.
And Eliza was half of the gift too.
“The pie?”
“Yeah. It’s not too hard, I can talk you through it, and you know Kara would appreciate the gesture even more if you made it yourself.”
Lena considers it for a moment. “Okay, but only if you don’t mind?”
“Of course I don’t, dear. And we’ll organise another weekend for me to surprise my girls, I know they’d love that.”
---
It’s not as easy as Eliza had made it sound, it takes two failed pies and a few video calls with Eliza, but she finally perfects the pie. She thinks it tastes delicious, but she has no reference for Eliza’s pie so she just hopes it’s close enough.
Come the day of Kara’s birthday, Lena spends all afternoon cooking, and then she spends the rest of the day worried that Kara won’t like her gift, or wonder why, with all of Lena’s money, all she’s done is given her a pie.
Lena turns up at Kara’s exactly at 7pm, as requested for her birthday dinner. She’s glad to find that no one else is there yet, now embarrassed about how small her gift for Kara is. She should’ve at least gotten her something else.
But all that vanishes from her mind for a moment as she steps into Kara arms for a hug, careful of the pie balanced precariously in a box in her hand.
“Happy birthday, Kara,” Lena says into Kara’s shoulder, Kara’s strong touch and warm presence calming.
“Thank you,” Kara smiles softly when they pull away, eyes crinkled, and Lena falls a little bit more in love.
“You look beautiful,” Lena says, eyes dropping to admire the blue dress Kara’s wearing. It’s new, Lena’s never seen her wear it before.
Kara’s smile grows. “Thank you, Alex got it for me for my birthday.”
“Speaking of gifts,” Lena says, holding out the box towards Kara. She knows it would’ve only been a matter of time before Kara brought up the gift herself if Lena hadn’t, so may as well get this disappointing gift over with. Lena will tell her there’s more to the gift coming, it just hasn’t arrived yet. “Happy birthday.”
Kara’s absolutely beaming when she takes the box, and Lena can’t help but add, “Don’t get too excited, it’s only something small.”
Kara takes the box and sets it on the table, carefully pulls the ribbon loose and then opens the box.
There’s a crinkle between Kara’s eyes, confused as she looks at the contents of the box. “Is this…” Kara looks up at Lena. “Eliza’s chocolate pecan pie?”
“Yes,” Lean answers. “I know how much you love it.”
“Oh Rao, thank you!”
Lena’s engulfed in a hug before she even fully realise what’s happening.
Lena laughs at Kara’s enthusiasm. “You’re welcome,” she says as they pull apart again. “Though I should tell you, it’s only Eliza’s recipe, I made it, so maybe save the excitement until you’ve actually tasted it.”
Kara’s mouth drops open. “What?”
“What?” Lena parrots.
“You made this?” Kara still looks stunned.
Lena blushes. “Yeah.”
“For me?”
“Yeah.” Lena thought that was obvious.
“How?”
“Eliza, she talked me through it,” Lena answers.
“Because you wanted to bake me a pie for my birthday because you know it’s my favourite?”
Lena’s not sure what Kara isn’t getting about this. “Yes. Kara, I-“
“Okay, I’m going to kiss you know if that’s alright with you?”
It’s Lena’s turned to be confused. “You want to kiss me because I made you a pie?”
Lena’s not entirely sure why she’s questioning it when she’s fantasised about Kara saying those exact words.
“No, I want to kiss you because I’m in love with you and you just made me a pie which is too nice for words and I’m sick of pretending I don’t want to kiss you,” Kara answers, eyes wide and earnest but Lena can see the nerves there too.
Lena’s too focused on the fact that Kara just said she was in love with her.
And instead of answering, Lena leans forward and kisses her.
Kissing Kara is exactly what Lena imagined it would be, in the fact that it’s life altering and perfect and Lena knows she’s never going to want to stop kissing Kara ever.
A knock on the door ruins that plan.
They both jump, cheeks red, Kara looking too cute for words and Lena has real trouble not just kissing her again.
So she does. Just a quick peck.
“I love you,” Lena adds, because she realises she hasn’t said it yet. Though she’s pretty sure Kara could’ve guessed from that kiss.
Kara looks stunned, and about ready to kiss Lena again, when there’s another knock at the door.
“I better…” Kara gestures towards the door, looking as reluctant as Lena feels.
“Go ahead,” Lena smiles.
(Neither stop smiling all evening. She’s sure everyone else can tell something is up but Kara just says she’s happy because it’s her birthday.
Later, she tells Lena she’s happy because of her.
The pie is exactly the same as Eliza’s, or that’s what Kara tells her anyway. The next time they kiss, Kara’s mouth tastes like chocolate and it’s wonderful).

Supercorptober 2022
I did write a couple one-shots for supercorptober2022 but never posted. Better late than never, right!!
I had hoped I’d have more to post but writers block is still kicking my butt. I’m gonna leave it as unfinished bc I want to try to keep doing prompts in hopes of breaking through this block. So in no particular order, here you go!
Day 1 - Summer
Read on AO3
Kara loves every season. In fall the air feels fresh and crisp and perfect for flying. There’s cozy drinks and cozier sweaters. There’s halloween and thanksgiving - the beginning of all Kara’s favourite holidays and the perfect excuse to get together with friends and family. In winter there’s a sense of quiet that blankets the city, everything sounds softer, more muffled in winter. There’s ice skating and hot chocolate, and the city lights up in all different colours the closer it gets to christmas. There’s a sense of hope and new beginnings that comes every year at New Year’s that Kara absolutely loves. Then there’s spring with all the new life starting to come back, and the sun starts to get warmer and Kara knows that summer is right around the corner. The season of sunbathing as she floats on the wind. Late night bonfires and camping and surfing.
Kara loves every season, but she can’t think of any season she loves more than summer right now.
Not when Lena came already dressed for their impromptu trip to the beach. Objectively, she knows they all agreed to leave first thing this morning so it was unlikely that Lena would have a reason to come dressed in her trademark skirt and heels. But it never occurred to Kara that meant Lena would come dressed in something else instead.
It never occurred to her that going to the beach with Lena would mean going to the beach with Lena in a bathing suit. That it would mean seeing Lena in a bathing suit.
The bathing suit in question is relatively modest - a black one piece with a scooped neck. It’s the stark contrast against porcelain skin and the sheer cover-up tied around her waist that has Kara slowing to a pause midway through pushing her surfboard into the back of the jeep. Her hands slip on the smooth surface as she takes in Lena’s loose waves, her fingers twitching with the desire to sink into the dark locks and find out if it feels as thick and soft as it looks.
She can’t pull her eyes away as Lena pushes her hair back with her oversized sunglasses to meet Kelly with a hug and a laugh. Her eyes dance in the morning sun as she laughs at Kelly’s antics as she tugs at Lena’s skirt, turning her cheeks a lovely shade of pink.
Kara’s so busy watching Lena she completely misses Alex trying to load a second surfboard around her until the end accidentally hits her in the head.
“Hey!” Kara pouts as she rubs the back of her head dramatically and scowls at her sister.
“Oh come on, you barely felt that.” Alex brushes her off as she gives the surfboard one more shove and dusts off her hands looking proud of herself as she inspects the trunk.
Kara sticks her tongue out at the back of her sister’s head, blushing when she catches Lena watching her with a raised brow. Kara helplessly shrugs a shoulder as she tries not to look too embarrassed, grinning when Lena chuckles and turns back to Kelly.
She manages to finish loading her surfboard before she's distracted again. This time she stares at Lena without really looking at her, her figure becoming a blur in the background as she imagines Lena stretched out under an umbrella thumbing through a magazine. Probably something sciency that makes Kara want to try to distract her. She's so caught up in her daydream of all the ways she could distract Lena that she doesn't see the real one approaching her.
"Kara?" Lena's voice bleeds together with her daydream.
"Kara." The sharper tone makes Kara blink, slowly focusing on Lena's concerned face."Alex asked if you're ready to go. Are you okay?"
"Yup. Yeah. Peachy." Kara freezes, her back ramrod straight and eyes wide. "Not pea- yes, yeah, I'm ready. We should go."
Kara wrenches the jeep door open and waits expectantly for Lena to climb in. She tries not to watch as her friend slides across the seat before she clambers in without a thought, leaving Alex standing on the driveway holding out the set of keys she had begged Alex to give her earlier that morning.
"I don't think she cares about driving anymore." Kelly whispers dramatically as she fails to smother a smile and gives her wife's arm a loving squeeze.
