Hi Starbursts777!!! Here's my succuess or partial manifestations from the past that I thought would motivate people especially myself. So as the pictures above make self evident I am going to writing about my experience and time having manifested becoming a Saiyan althought not fully as I will explain everything below. so if you don't know Saiyans are a warrior race like what you see above that are extremely powerful with supernatural physical abilities energy manipulation transformations that boost their physical abilities and they have a ruthless ferocious nature often known as being brutal warriors. at the time of manifesting this I knew of this but not to the full extent of having experienced some of this for myself. So my first experience was from a Saiyan subliminal it contained every transform and transformation up to super saiyan blue. So I noticed my strength was rapidly increasing along iwth my speed stamina agility all of that, around week one I could start to feel and sense energy more frequently my aura become stronger to the point It would act as a natural heater for myself. the more intense I feel the more powerful the aura becomes. my aura was Purple. after about a week my body started to develop ultra instinct which is the ability to move and react to things without needing to be consciously aware of things so I'd dodge things people and objects without even knowing about it. my friend thought I was possessed because he knew I was becoming a Saiyan at the time. now I do want to talk about the aspects I didn't expect the anger and aggression was different as a Saiyan for instance you'd find yourself getting angrier at the smaller things more aggrerssive overall, you become very serious overall and another aspect is you lose some human emotions like you become extremely confident even arrogant to a degree and you have little regard for others it's just that Saiyans treat everyone like Battle hardened warriors so sometimes it can seem like you are being treated harshly which I was completely unaware of until my sister said something and I thought I was treating everyone normal. Another aspect was I only cared about training and getting stronger nothing else mattered my life was Eat sleep train rest train some more rinse repeat and something about Saiyan dna makes you oddly content with that. anyways let's get back on track. as time went on my KI energy aka life force energy became stronger and stronger eventually even my sister could feel the energy she even said it had a misty static appearance to it. at this point I haven't tried using Kaioken which is a tecnhique that boost your strength speed senses and overall all your physical stats besides your durability the only downside is it is very damaging to the body like imagine going through several full body workouts instantly. After about 2 months I was so close to using Kaioken well my aura wasn't visible but It could be felt and I felt intense heat and pressure build as I used the technique which was crazy. Of course their were more things that happened like for instance at work I had at the time while mopping the floor I randomly slipped and was levitating for about 5 seconds before I fell to the ground. another instance of the power of a Saiyan was when I was getting a drink of water and my sister said she saw blue energy come out of my leg and speed across the room. Saiyans are so full of energy that sometimes it's hard to keep it in your body. also Saiyan willpower is way stronger than anything I ever experienced I could literally force myself awake from sleep if I was having a bad dream not even having to be lucid just like Fuck this shit I want to wake up then I forcefully woke myself up. So as for me I realized after this whole experience that if I want a more balanced out lifestyle being a Saiyan hybrid is better so that's what I am working on now for myself.

DBS Manga vs Anime Differences: Universe 6 Characters

Notably with the Dragon Ball Super manga, there's a bunch of edits that set it apart from the anime. Same basic plot framework, but a few changes that set them apart. So, I decided to compile some of these changes- the ones that affect the Universe 6 characters (may cover other arcs later, sorry for the U6 hyperfixation moment), so this stuff will be in the U6 and Universal Survival Arcs. The differences range from a few small things to things that completely change the development of the character as a whole- why I rely on the anime canon for some elements in my fics (not saying I don't like the manga).

Anyway, here's what I've grabbed.

UNIVERSE 6 TOURNAMENT ARC

When asked about his lack of a tail, Cabba notes that U6 Saiyans used to have them in the past, but evolved away from them. In the anime, Cabba's confusion seems to imply that they never had tails.

Cabba's promise to Vegeta about visiting Sadala is addressed only very briefly before the matches rather than after their fight later on. It is seemingly never brought up again. The Sadalan King is never mentioned until the Universal Survival arc.

Most noticeably, Frost's lore of being a con artist under the guise of a "hero of justice" is completely absent. He's simply a strong fighter within the universe who just happens to be sneaky with a little poison needle.

Consequently, this means he has no pre-tournament connection to Cabba.

His Assault/Charging/Third Form comes as a surprise to the crowd, while he had publicity around it and even an official name for it in the anime. Again, due to the lore being dropped.

Frost does not have reservations over using his True Form and no concerns over strength control (out of fear of killing) with it.

Piccolo's fight against Frost relies on exhausting Frost's energy rather than on a successful hit from the Special Beam Cannon. In fact, Piccolo doesn't use the move at all.

The Tournament is unpaid for Universe 6; the treasure heap from the anime doesn't exist and Frost can't exactly get support for the peacekeeping efforts that don't exist in the manga. Hit is still offered the hexahedron, however.

Frost turns to the poison needles for this reason, to rush the Tournament to the end rather than make up for a disadvantage.

Frost is shown in the end of chapter drawing to be loading his own poison. There's no confirmation if this is the case in the anime as well, but it can be presumed.

Frost and Vegeta don't arrange a zero-rules match.

Vegeta's finisher on Frost knocks him unconscious, so there's no encounter with Hit. There wouldn't be a motive for the assassin to pursue him regardless.

Cabba is able to gain an initial advantage against Vegeta- notably, he uses light to mask his movements (similar to 17 in the ToP). As a trade-off, he doesn't use a Vegeta-stanced Galick Cannon like in the anime.

When Hit opens his eyes upon sensing Vegeta turning Blue, he doesn't spot Goku smiling at him from across the stadium and reclose them.

Cabba doesn't question Saiyan Pride at all, so Vegeta doesn't need to tell him that it means strength.

Vegeta doesn't develop a Master-Student relationship with Cabba.

Hit's Time Skip is noted to have more reliance on a gap in strength between him and the opponent. When Goku's strength exceeds Hit's he is able to cut off skips midway.

Hit's "Pure Progress" simply increases his power and strength and doesn't increase the amount of time he can skip. His Time Skip never evolves past 0.1 second skips.

Color Manga only, but Hit's blood is shown as red rather than purple.

Hit is a lot more expressive and smiles more often during his fight with Goku.

Goku uses Super Saiyan God before using Blue. As a trade-off, he doesn't use the Blue Kaioken.

Champa doesn't retaliate against his team for losing. There's only an argument between Beerus and Champa when Zeno shows up.

UNIVERSAL SURVIVAL/TOURNAMENT OF POWER ARC

Renso is not mentioned at all. Cabba instead knows Caulifla for her infamy as a bandit and how she's considered "untouchable" by the Sadalan army.

Caulifla's gang is depicted in more detail and is revealed to be more of a Robin Hood-style organization under the surface.

Multiple members of Caulifla's gang refer to her as "sis"; it's not limited to just Kale.

Kale's potential is first noticed by Cabba as she moves almost ninja-like, Caulifla not noticing. In the anime, Caulifla sees her potential simply because she has faith in her due to their close relationship.

Caulifla's ascension to Super Saiyan is skipped over. The only detail given is that she took to it with ease. At least it's not the back tingle thing...

Kale doesn't unlock Super Saiyan until later in the Tournament itself.

Frost is noted to have some ruling power of an unknown extent, as he and Frieza discuss a shared preference of ruling with an iron fist.

Goku's "hiring Hit to kill him" mini arc is absent from the timeline. Goku considers the Tournament their "rematch", despite him wanting to see Hit's killing techniques (which he cannot use here).

Frieza and Frost's team up involves more input from Frieza and the two seem to stick closer together. His plan involves giving Frost intel on U7's weak links then prompting him to use his full strength up front to thin out the competition. Frieza gives him the "full strength up front" fake advice in the anime as well, but Frost doesn't really have the chance to apply it.

Frost doesn't seem to have separate motivations for winning the tournament, while he seeks a pardon from Champa if he manages to deal a significant blow to U7 in the anime.

Frost's moves are more up front compared to in the anime. Anime Frost relies more on survival instincts he gained from being on the lam, an experience that Manga Frost doesn't gain. If he needs to escape when overwhelmed, he simply runs rather than using a smoke bomb attack.

Frieza doesn't demonstrate the 100% Full Power state for Frost and only teases Golden to him before his elimination. Frost only sees Golden Frieza from the sidelines.

Frieza attempts to choke out Frost before kicking him off the side to eliminate him while he uses a large energy blast to do so in the anime.

Color Manga choice again, but Frost is shown spitting up purple blood when Frieza kicks him in the jaw. This matches up with Frieza's being shown to bleed purple earlier in the arc, so the blood color seems to be consistent for the species. Frost doesn't bleed in the anime, but if we match his blood to Frieza's, it would be red. (Bonus fact! Full Color Dragon Ball (pre-Super) gives Frieza blue blood.)

Frost does not attempt to fire a retaliation attack at Frieza from the stands, so he is not erased separately for a foul. This also means he's present for Champa calling him a "joke" compared to Frieza... straight to his face.

Hit pursues Jiren by his own choice rather than attempting to take advantage of the Pride Trooper's supposed "dropped guard" after fighting Ultra Instinct Goku.

Hit notes that he has worked on honing his physical attacks' strength and speed so he can rely less on his Time Skip. He is only shown using non-Skip strikes once Goku joins the fight.

Hit's coattails are shown to detach from his coat; it's unconfirmed if this applies to the anime as well. The detachment shows his lessened reliance on the Time Skip, as the lack of coattails prevents him from hiding minute twitches in his hands with his pockets or in his legs with the coat length.

Hit's new secret move in the manga causes the opponent's moves to lag behind, while it involves freezing the opponent in time in the anime. Vados even mentions that Hit can't freeze Jiren in place at his current power level.

Universe 6's slight mini arc about each member having their own part to play is not addressed. As a result, Cabba doesn't have an overwhelming need to protect Caulifla and Kale by taking fights for them to preserve their team's aces. In fact, he advises Kale to stay out of Caulifla's fight with Frieza and trust her capabilities.

Frieza is able to fully pursue his hunting down of the Universe 6 Saiyans and fights all three over time, although he doesn't snag any of their eliminations. In the anime, he only manages to attack (and eliminate) Cabba and threatens to pursue Caulifla and Kale. He never gets the chance to follow up on this, as Goku prevents him from butting into his fight against them. Ironically, manga Frieza attempts to stop Goku from butting in during the U6 fight.

Kale hints to her backstory, noting that Caulifla took her in when she was lost on the roadside.

Kale doesn't gain a controlled Super Saiyan state, remaining in rampage mode until she fuses with Caulifla.

Kale's rampage drastically cuts down the fat of the Tournament and ends several of the other Universes' mini arcs, such as Universe 3's Anilaza, before they can even begin. Thanks Kale!

Kale's Legendary Super Saiyan state is near confirmed. She's suspected by Cabba to be the "Legendary Saiyan", a demonic Saiyan that appears once in a millennium on a power-increasing rampage until they inevitably self-destruct. Since Cabba and Caulifla know of this myth but not about the Super Saiyan prior to Vegeta passing on the knowledge, it's likely separate from LSSJ.

Vegeta's second promise to Cabba, about promising to restore U6 if he wins, doesn't exist in the manga either. In fact, the two's relationship seems lessened in general.

Instead of being given the Potara by Champa, Caulifla is shown to have secretly pilfered them from Fuwa. Likely an art error but, oddly, Fuwa can be seen with his earrings earlier in the Tournament before realizing they're gone.

The hiding spot for the earrings is shown, being stashed in Caulifla's belt.

Cabba's elimination is a sacrifice to prevent Kale's fall and attach the Potara earring to her.

Kale's rampage is seemingly calmed automatically by being fused, rather than learning control.

Kefla's base form is absent.

Kefla fights Gohan rather than Goku and seems to be on par with Mystic/Ultimate Gohan. Due to this fight change, Super Saiyan 3 isn't teased to Caulifla and Kale.

U6's final ranking in the Tournament is third place rather than fifth.

Goku's Ultra Instinct Sign state doesn't make its first appearance until very late in the Tournament. Only the angels, Universes 7 and 11, and the spectating Universes witness it. The remaining Universes likely either have no knowledge of it or learn about it from Universal gossip.

The Zenos' secret test against selfish wishes is not addressed.

The erased Universes are restored at the benches rather than in their home universes.

AND (mini bonus)

(I mean, Frost was directly behind Hit once Hit got eliminated, it looks like he's scooted forward. Anyway, I digress.)

AND those are the Universe 6 relevant differences between the anime and manga! Hope to cover a few other differences in the other arcs later but the U6 hyperfixation is too strong some days.

First off, I'm so damn sorry for overloading you with questions, you're the only person I can talk to regarding DB.

So I saw a tweet earlier today about a artist requesting other artists so show off their OC's unique transformations. Some where simple, complex, creative and all Saiyan. Then it hit me, other races have transformations that artists can work around. Except for human OCs the closest thing they get is Kaioken. Hell, I have 3 Earthlings OCs, and I can think of a transformation to save my life. I just focus on their respective fighting styles, development with said styles.😶

No problem. I like answering these kinds of questions. (This is like a week or two old by now tho. Sorry... 😅😓)

Its true that other aliens like Saiyans, Freeza, and now Piccolo have physical transformations. Humans don't, but they arent the only ones. Aliens like Hit and Jiren dont have transformations either.

Some ideas I have were mentioned with you before. (But for others who may have not read it, here are some links)

But, here's something kinda new.

Make Earthlings have ki based transformations. Krillin's NSS is a spiritual transformation (transformed ki). Take that idea and run with it. We could give Yamcha a wolf aura which means that an Earthling OC could be give animal auras that encompass the body as human transformations.

Or keep it simple like how SSJ is just a hair change and eye color change along with buffing up a bit. Take inspiration from Roshi's full power form but just make it so an Earhling OC gets a bit more swol but not at the cost of speed and mobility like Roshi's full power form and SSJ grade 3.

Another is to take inspiration from Toppo. He is an alien who doesnt naturally have a transformation, but using GoD energy, his body transformed into a buffer form. Along with a darker complexion and different aura as well as different colored eyes.

This way of designing a transformations is also similar to Piccolo's potential unleashed form where his skin tone changes and he buffs up more. So for a human OC, you could change their eye color, increase their muscle mass, and give them a different aura. The hair doesnt have to change color. That's a Saiyan thing at this point.

So to summarize my lengthy statements...

AURA CHANGE: Color, elemental design, animal aura, ect. Could have flaming aura like Jiren or a watering aura like Jiren's Super Full Power form, something like Toppo's GoD form, or like watery/misty like Krillin's NSS aura.

EYE COLOR CHANGE: Any color or even take away the pupils & irises. All white eyes can look cool. You can even change the eye shape like how the eyebrows connect to the eye when Saiyans go SSJ.

BODY CHANGE: This could be a muscle mass increase, a slight height increase, giving a character a darker skin complextion or a paler complexion. You could even give their skin tints of different colors like red, blue, yellow, orange, ect. Make them transform like the Hulk. You can even have a character turn green (or anither color) like Giovanna from Guilty Gear.

Could even have a talisman used to create a power up. Or even use magic as a power up.

For my OC, Tobi...

Tobi doesnt have a transformation like a Saiyan. He is half human and half Kitsun (fox alien race I made up). He has a few power-ups.

1. SHADOW KITSUN:

A out of control power resulting from Tobi's anger/saddness. Tobi's aura turns black and encompasses his body, making him look like a shadow then a new glowing white aura appears with particles of the aura drifting through the air. It offers better protection from physical and ki attacks but Tobi is barely concious as his emotions take control. Its a short lived power boost that quickly drains his ki. Kinda like how Goku using UI Omen for the first time didnt last long.

2. NON-SELF STATE:

He learns this from Krillin. In my story, Krillin improved it to the point that the 6 dots on his forehead glow white when using the power. (Like Omi from Xailon Showdown.)

For Tobi, his eyes turn a golden yellow while his aura is like Krillin's but he lacks the aura clad fists. This is Tobi's most stable form. He is in complete control of his emotions. His Shadow Kitsun form is in a way the opposite of NSS as well as the "Omen" form to his "Mastered" NSS form.

I was going to give Tobi a beast-like form where he kinda becomes a "were-fox" but, I think that kind of form is better fitting for the full-blood Kitsun characters I have. For them, the beastman form is their true self, but their more human form helps them reserve their power (similar to Zarbon or Freeza).

Anyway, that's how I make transformations for human characters. I take some inspiration from what we know about DB and some inspiration from other shows. I have a few other similar transformations for human characters, but I can speak of those another time.

I hope this helped give you some ideas of how to give your human OCs some transformations. The forms can be in your face changes or subtle changes. Do what fits for your characters. 👍

~God, learning how Ultra Instinct Goku wasn't even supposed be a thing, neither was Kaioken Super Saiyan Blue or evolved Super Saiyan Blue explains why when they feel more impactful in Super Broly.

In the anime just just pop that shit like nothing, making it feel so meh, but when they have to pop it against Broly, you feel that's it's strong. Plus, showing how it differs from Sayian God, which relies on being calm, is also cool.

Just another reason why DBS Broly is a great Dragon Ball movie.

The Ultimate Form, Its Evolutions, And How It Lives Up To Its Name (DBS: Super Hero Spoilers Ahead)

Dragon Ball is a show with many different power altering techniques and transformations, from Kaioken to Super Saiyan to even fusion. Knowing this, many characters use these different forms and techniques in their goal of attaining further strength. But which is the best and why is it the best? If you were to ask me, that honor would go to the Ultimate form.

The Ultimate form has been and is known as many things throughout Dragon Ball’s lifespan: Potential Unleashed, the Mystic form, Power Unleashed, Power Awakening, and obviously Ultimate. Essentially, the form draws out all of a person’s hidden potential and even heightens a person's senses, as Gohan was able to see without his glasses after transforming in Super Hero, but his eyesight reverted to being poor once he powered back down into his base form. As if that wasn’t enough, the form seemingly doesn’t take any stamina away from the wielder to use. The form is typically gained through enduring Elder Kai’s ritual, but Piccolo showcased the ability to be granted the form from Shenron via a wish.

In no uncertain terms, the power that this transformation can grant its user is absurd. Gohan was able to outclass Super Saiyan 3 Goku’s power as soon as he received the form, beat Super Buu before he absorbed Gotenks, and after further training in Dragon Ball Super it was shown to be able to keep up with Super Saiyan Blue.

As if the form wasn’t crazy enough, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero gave us the fun information that just like Super Saiyan, the Ultimate form can evolve into separate, more powerful transformations. While this has caused some confusion in the fanbase, as the Ultimate form is already supposed to draw out all of a person’s latent potential, episode 90 of the DBS anime implies that Super Saiyan can be combined with the Ultimate form.

My point being that just because the Ultimate form brings out all of your latent potential doesn’t mean that your power can’t be further amplified. That being said, I think that’s what these evolved forms are doing: simply amplifying the user’s power after bringing forth their latent potential.

But that’s not all these evolved forms have to offer. When I said “just like Super Saiyan, the Ultimate form can evolve into separate, more powerful transformations”, I didn’t mean something like an Ultimate 2, Ultimate 3, etc etc, I meant that everyone who evolves their Ultimate form gets a transformation (seemingly) entirely unique to them. While it’s never directly stated why in Super Hero, I think the reason is pretty obvious: the transformations are themed around the sources of the character’s potential, and different character’s potentials come from different places. Gohan’s Beast form is unlocked in a moment of rage at seeing Piccolo hurt by Cell Max, just like the rage boosts he would experience as a child.

Piccolo’s potential comes from his Namekian heritage, but more specifically, his fusions with Nail and Kami. Think about it: his Orange form was granted to him by Shenron, the eternal dragon originally created by the Nameless Namekian who would eventually split into Piccolo and Kami. By fusing back with Kami, that means that Piccolo has returned to being the Nameless Namekian, so Shenron helping out his creator with a new transformation makes sense. You could also argue that Piccolo’s fusions not only made him stronger in the moment, but increased his potential, allowing him to grow further and faster than he would have been able to without undergoing them, but that’s a discussion for another time.

It should come as a shock to no-one reading that these transformations are ridiculously powerful. Given how Gohan’s Ultimate form allowed him to keep pace with Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue, amping the power of the form beyond that is insane to think about, and it’s no small amp either. Before Gohan obtained the form, he seemed pitiful in comparison to Cell Max, but once he transformed he was able to tank a punch from Cell Max without even flinching. I think it’s safe to say that the amp in power provided by Gohan’s Beast form outclasses the amp that Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken x20 amp gives him, which putting it simply means that I think that Beast’s amp is greater than x20 the power Gohan’s Ultimate form provides him.

Orange Piccolo isn’t as powerful as Gohan, but that doesn’t mean he’s a slouch either. The Orange form gives Piccolo enough power to easily defeat Gamma 2, who was stronger than him in his Ultimate state. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the Gammas are stronger than Android 17 who, get this, was also able to fight evenly with Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue form. Given how Orange Piccolo knocked out Gamma 2 with one punch, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that Piccolo’s Orange form gives him a similar amp to Gohan’s Beast form. I’m not saying that Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan are equal in power, just that the amp their forms provide are similar.

So let’s summarize the main points just to make sure we got everything nice and tidy: the Ultimate form draws out all of the user’s latent potential with minimal to no stamina usage which can be further amplified by other powers, such as Super Saiyan. The form can also evolve into a new, unique form depending on the source of your potential, and these evolved states amplifies the user’s already drawn out power to ludicrous levels.

And that does it, really. That’s why I think Ultimate is the, well, ultimate form to strive for to increase your power in the world of Dragon Ball. I don’t really know how to end this other than saying that this is just my interpretation of the forms based on the information I know about Dragon Ball and that if you have a different interpretation then more power to you. I’m not trying to convince anyone that they have to agree with me, just sharing my own personal thoughts and ideas. I plan to write more short essay stuff like this as well, I think my next one will be talking about the human Z-Fighters!

Kefla took his stance. With bent legs slightly spread apart and fists clenched, the demonic saiyan began summoning his power, refraining from his super saiyan transformation for the moment. A golden aura surrounded him and his hair flowed in the sudden wind he’d created. No scream coming out of him unlike the saiyan from universe seven or Cabba because he is a dumbass. He would straighten his stance, his arms alongside his body. His muscle began to bulge up as the golden aura surrounding him went to scarlet red. His muscle took more volume as his blood vessels swelled to allow faster blood flow. His strength multiplied and before long exceeded his full strength.

The kaioken was a double-edged technique, something that surprised since Kakarot was able to use the technique without any draw-back, but there must have been a reason he was using it on top of super saiyan blue. Something he was wondering being in deep thoughts as the crimson aura never seemed to disappear. The kaioken slowly began to destroy his body little by little being merely slowed down by his body automatic response to any damage it receives.

Innate ki control and a calm mind, the ki control was not an issue, but the calm mind. The calm mind was not something normal in Kefla, his mind was nothing else than a storm, a never-ending storm of all sorts of thoughts. Thoughts that were better left unsaid.

But soon enough, he would collapse on his knee, breathing heavily as the crimson aura disappeared from him. But one should not misunderstand, he had no issue using the basic kaioken technique, he had something else in mind. A next-level unseen when it came to the kaioken technique, something that has never been done. It was about forcing the power boost and increase in his senses from using the kaioken inside his body, so his body would not suffer any damage. After fighting Broly and reminiscing on Zamasu's words, Goku comes to a realization, he uses instant transmission to teleport to Vampa.

Making his way to the cave, Goku calls out to Broly.

"Hey! Broly, are you in here? I need to talk to you!"

Loud footsteps began resounding through out the space, drawing closer to the orange-clad warrior as a deep resonant voice spoke.

"Kakarot? Quite the unexpected visit, what can I help you with?"

Broly circled around Goku, making his way to the house to take a sit in front of his fellow Saiyan gesturing Goku to follow him.

Goku followed, taking a sit in the living room on the couch.

"I've been thinking lately, and I've come to a realization..."

Broly leant forward in curiosity clasping his hands together, clearly interested in hearing his friend's words explained.

"I've been copying the Gods way too much in an attempt to be like them: Super Saiyan God, Saiyan beyond God. Super Saiyan Blue, SSB Kaioken, Ultra Instinct."

Broly furrowed his brows, clearly confused by Goku's line of thoughts though he elected to remain quiet so Goku could continue elaborating.

"Maybe it's time I start truly embracing my Saiyan roots, instead of just pretending to do so. This is where all those aforementioned forms of mine become relevant, they all are the very antithesis of what us Saiyans are meant."

Goku stood up and crossed over to Broly, before kneeling in front of the larger Saiyan with his face looking up at the other's.

"Broly please help me, I want to attain a form that's uniquely all my own. Please, I am begging you."

Broly took a few minutes to think, before nodding in response. Goku jumped into the air and cheered loudly.

"YES! Thank you Broly, I promise you won't regret this and that I'll make this worth your while!"

Several months of grueling training, and Goku losing control several times due to transforming into a Great Ape. Goku transformed into a unique variation henceforth coined as a Golden Great Ape, he initially went berserk.

But Broly reached out to him and Goku regained control, beginning to shrink down in a white glow, when the white glow faded away to reveal Goku looking distinctly different.

Goku's hair spiked in several different directions with two pointed bangs rested on each side of Goku's neck, similar to Broly's own, gold eyes with black irises stared forth seriously. A trim colored crimson surrounded Goku's eyes, red fur replaced Goku's orange and blue gi except for a section of bare chest. A red tail swished lazily back and forth from a hole in mustard yellow pants, a blue ribbon aiding in holding the pants up. Blue leg warmers tightly locked a pair of black boots in place.

To clarify on something I said yesterday while complaining about DBS:SH

I said the new forms were bland, but that probably didn’t seem too different from me also calling them ugly, so to elaborate I did not mean they were bland visually (though they definitely are)

I meant they were bland narratively

Not only were they achieved through boring methods, they also don’t have any unique characteristics to differentiate them from any other super form

Neither Orange, Beast, or Frieza’s Black form in the manga seem to do anything other than a generic boost in ki production/output and physical ability

The original Super Saiyan form had the user’s ki become wild and uncontrollable, locking off abilities like Kaioken, but that subtle differentiation was all it really needed because it was the first real super form

Super Saiyan’s 2 and 3 were both just generic power boosts that magnified the strength afforded by SS1, but other than that they did nothing

SS4 was similar, but it at least a) had a unique activation method of combining Super Saiyan with Oozaru, and b) claimed to reduce the user’s mental control, even if that was barely touched on and didn’t affect the outcome of any given fight

Legendary Super Saiyan also has a unique activation method, going Super Saiyan while in the Wrath State, the channeling of Oozaru’s power without shapeshifting, but also has the unique characteristic of constantly generating ki. This necessitates that the user constantly be projecting ki, lest the ki build up in their body and harm them, the pain of which further adds to the berserk nature of the Wrath State

Super Saiyan God changes the properties of the user’s ki by converting it into divine ki, allowing the user to sense divine beings and also becoming undetectable by non-divine beings. The nature of divine ki also grants the user the same kind of power boosts as any other transformation, but this seems to be because divine ki itself is simply more potent than mortal ki

Super Saiyan Blue then has a calming effect on the user, unifying the raging ki produced by standard Super Saiyan forms, thus allowing the user to safely use abilities like Kaioken again. SSB also has a greater focus on power at the cost of speed, making the transformation less of an explicit upgrade that makes the previous form of SSG obsolete, and more of an alternate mode that can be used based on the needs of the situation

Ultra Instinct, though normally meant to be a technique and not a form, makes the user’s body move instinctively rather than requiring every movement be thought out. This manifests as automatic dodging and a greater output in striking force (not an increase in raw strength, mind you, but better application of existing strength)

Ultra Ego is similar, but grants the user two abilities: a) the usage of the Power of Destruction, ki that by its nature deconstructs what it comes into contact with, and b) the ability to gain power (which in this case IS raw strength) from damage. This comes with the inherent weakness that the user must take damage to take full advantage of this ability, rather than taking any measures to prevent damage such as dodging or blocking

So...what do Orange, Beast and Black do that the standard Super Saiyan form doesn’t?

Orange makes Piccolo bulkier, but in pretty much every other instance of a bulked super form (100% Frieza, Super Saiyan Powerhouse, etc.) the increase in body mass has always proven to be a detriment to the user, with the only real exception being LSS because of the overwhelming difference in power it affords. Aside from that, Orange doesn’t seem to afford Piccolo any new abilities that he didn’t have before. Given that the color scheme is meant to resemble the Dragon Balls, I think it would be interesting if it somehow gave him an increase in magical abilities, drawing on the power of the Dragon Clan. We already know that Piccolo has at least limited item creation, making clothes and weapons for Gohan (an ability we were reminded of in Super Hero when he forced the training gear onto Gohan), so it would make sense that such powers would be enhanced. Honestly, if Piccolo is basically a living Dragon Ball, it would make sense if he had minor reality warping abilities to “grant his own wishes.” Teleportation, item creation, healing/revival, memory erasure, body modification, instantaneous knowledge, etc. These are all things we know that the Dragon Balls can be used to wish for, so even if Piccolo can only do them on a small scale (reviving a single person right in front of him rather than multiple galaxies away, teleporting someone a short distance or only being able to teleport the willing, etc.), it would make sense for Piccolo to now have access to a wider range of magical abilities. Honestly, most of these are things that the Dragon Clan has shown the ability to do anyway, so having Piccolo use Orange as a boost to his magic rather than raw power would make it a viable alternate mode when he inevitably gets another form that would otherwise render it obsolete

Beast doesn’t really seem to do anything special other than make Gohan more pompous, but that’s not really different from any other SS form. Considering that it’s called “Beast” and Piccolo said at the beginning of the film that Gohan needs to “remember his instincts,” I wonder if this form is a manifestation of bestial instinct. This might explain why the hair color is similar to Ultra Instinct (even if it’s not actually called Ultra Instinct in Japanese...), as it’s not the instincts of a martial artists, but the instincts of an animal. If Ultra Instinct allows one to fight efficiently, minimizing damage and dealing the most damage while minimizing energy usage, perhaps Beast allows one to focus on finishing a fight as fast as possible by targeting weak points and becomes empowered when there’s something to protect, like a beast protecting its young?

That would be really interesting, but alas, they told us absolutely nothing about either of these forms in Super Hero, and Beast is a term from extended material, not even the movie itself, so until they go into more detail in either a new season of the anime or in the manga (which I’m not expecting, honestly), all we can do is conjecture

As for Black Frieza, I saw someone on twitter point out that Frieza’s hands and feet are a unique color compared to the rest of his body, implying that maybe they’ve been reinforced to act as biological gauntlets and greaves, which could mean that Black Frieza has a greater focus on physical defenses than Golden Frieza or other Frieza forms, but I still would have preferred something with more visual differences like Cooler’s Fourth Transformation, even if it wasn’t as ornate

Dragon Ball seemed to be moving away from power ups being nebulous increases in strength and moving towards changes in capabilities and characteristics, but recent events seem to be moving us back to how things were before, and I’m frankly extremely disappointed by that
