Pomodoro: when you shouldn't use it and alternatives
I’m sure many of us have tried (and failed) using the pomodoro method. Here is why I dislike using it and what kind of people should avoid it!
Why I dislike this method
You’ve just tried out this awesome new technique everyone is talking about, but it doesn’t work for you. It’s the pomodoro technique, where you rest for 1/5 the time you study. The most common structure is studying for 25 minutes and resting for 5.
When you try the 25/5 method, you take 5 minutes to focus, so you only end up doing work for 20 minutes. It’s not nearly enough time. You also know you’ll be breaking your concentration when you stand up to have a break. It just isn’t worth it for 20 minutes of work.
And when you try longer variations, like the 50/10 you get too distracted during the breaks.
“It’s 5 already?”
From my personal experience, the pomodoro method is not for:
People who take longer to concentrate
People who get distracted easily
People who have a lot of work to complete in a short amount of time
There are a lot of other alternatives to the pomodoro method for these people:
Flow time and time blocking are great alteratives.
For flow time, you have to grab on to the flow and work and work and don’t stop.
For time blocking, you have to separate your day into different blocks for different activities.
I hope this helped you! Feel free to ask for specific study tips! ❤️

May Productivity Day 1.
[03.05.22] 🍀
Notes on Formalism. Primarily following the youtube tutorial for this topic. I have an assignment(research paper on 'reading formalism in comparative literature') and the deadline is 6th May. I am already in a hurry. I have primary chosen 3 essays [The Dominant, Roman Jacobson, Art as Technique, Viktor Shklovsky, Course in General Linguistics, Ferdinand de Saussure] to deal with it but yet to choose the research text. I plan to finish the three essays by today and write from tomorrow. I plan to extend the research to other formalists like Rene Wellek and more. For the backup, I've kept a theory book close by my side named Modern Criticism and Theory, David Lodge with Nigel Wood. Hope this paper goes well. ✌️

I couldn't reach the 6th floor to recreate the studygirl shot. None of you know what it's like to give everything for your dreams only to fall short.

Hello new additions and welcome to my blog. I'm Mina and I'm glad you followed me. As you may have guessed at the beginning - I was trying to upload pictures but no luck because I had a problem with my phone and it wouldn't connect to my computer. And because of you, I decided it was high time I got a new one. So I don't promise to upload, but I'll try. If it turns out to be from the computer, I'll let you know. But if you want, you can also follow me on Pinterest. It's written like this ,,Studygirl.66" , there I have collected all kinds of images that are directly related to my life. And I use them very often. Kisses and see you soon.
