My cousin & her husband dropped by today with a lovely new addition to my studio - a desk/shelf that was made by our grandfather (who I sadly never got to meet, but I like having things he made in my house!).
It truly feels like the puzzle piece that was missing from this space - the shelves are nice & deep & will fit tons of drying/in-progress pottery, and the sturdy desk bit will be so good for rolling out slabs for my mugs.
Also, the drawers fit SO MUCH? I hucked a bunch of tools/pottery supplies in there & there's still a ton of room in both of them (neither is pulled out all the way in these photos)!
Finally, in one of those serendipitous circumstances, the veneer of the new desk matches the veneer of my 1930s cabinet I got last year *perfectly*?!?! Wild!!

Peach and MIPS
apparently MIPS is Peach's pet rabbit. I watched like a 30 minute documentary about the yellow rabbit which was charming and fun, even if a lot of it I already knew

Double sided zine draft that I made.
I don’t think that I’m much of a writer so sometimes I feel a little odd making zines. I’ll probably try to type out the final one just so that it’s definitely legible for people.

My studio's been an absolute SWAMP for weeks due to my busy schedule, but I finally did a good clean yesterday, which included reorganizing the closet and prepping all my clay to be put away for the summer (which involves a lot of double-bagging & spritzed water to ensure it doesn't dry out over the next few months!).
I also put up a couple little shelves beside my desk to hold my iPad/notebooks so they don't take up my whole computer desk. I can even charge my iPad when it's sitting there! Very satisfying!
Finally, pls enjoy my first bouquet from the garden (in a gorgeous vase made by my dear pal who fires my work!)! This is year two in our house & I'm feeling really good about how nicely the early-spring version of our garden is filling in (even tho there's a LOT of work left to do for the rest of the growing season).

A little tour of my studio...I like to hang posters and reviews of plays I have been in. These were some I did in the Twin Cities. Had a blast with all of them.

Scenes from organizing my studio. ✨ A big part of my art process is finding inspiration in objects. Their textures, their colors, and especially the mood they evoke, all contribute to building my inner realm where magic, art, and fantasy swirl together. Much like a cauldron, creating this kind of inner atmosphere starts with familiar “ingredients” but allows fantasy to take hold, combining and transforming each small facet into a new “feeling” from which I then draw inspiration. The smallest object can be the key ingredient, sparking the idea that then grows into new artwork. As an artist, the lesson is to never stop feeding your imagination in whatever way feels right for you. Allow yourself to play and, specifically, allow yourself time to play. There are so many realms that have yet to be built within you. 🖤
