It's hard being Stephen, but good thing he has Cloak!
Once again inspired by @atopfourthwall's Doctor Strange video. There's just so many funny bits in there!

"When it's all been said and done, no one can save me." — No Witness (LP)
838 Strange | Part 1: Sketch
This took a lot longer than I'm proud to admit. I've been working on this sketch for three days and struggling to even remotely find a pose reference I liked to use for him. Ultimately, I thought about @fanartka and the first prompt on their Strangetober list that said "Stay back!" and then No Witness came on. Just like that, I had an idea in my head for a pose and came up with this idea. This is actually a composition of two pictures of Ben. One of Sherlock and one of Stephen.
I took a look creative freedom on it and made it so that it looks like he's fighting to keep the third eye from opening while he's in battle and it's wearing on him. Because it didn't seem correct that Sinister, What If Strange and now 616 all have a third eye but this pretty boy didn't. Nope sir, you get one too.
But I'm very happy with how this came out! Despite this asshole's robes being the lovechild of the Roaring 20s

Next batch of miscellaneous birgworld beasties!
5. The Ukarask Bird: this mid-sized avian patrols coastal regions in search of fishy prey. However, it is also an enthusiastic scavenger.
Tumblr media
6. Tarlak: A large, aggressive omnivore. They spend much of their waking time scratching through the dirt for buried feathervane seeds.
Tumblr media
7. Water Spirit: Also known as fairy grass, the stiff, mucous coated tendrils of this strange creature emerge from slow moving waterways when the sun sets, and glitter with bioluminescent nodes to entice “insects” to enter a sticky trap.
Tumblr media
8. The Scroop: A small, bottom dwelling marine animal that sucks up smaller animals like a vacuum hose. When startled, they can just as quickly eject water to scoot backwards.

9. Swamp Dragon - a large tubedragon that sits near water and uses its long, flexible neck to chase down fish, which it injects with paralytic venom and swallow whole.
27. This was a repeat of water spirit so I used it as a free spot, it's a big fluffy tubedragon.
17. Wizard's keep - a member of the nestreed family which exists in tight symbiosis with certain eusocial songmice species, essentially a living hive. It has specific chambers ideally suited for these songmice to rear their young, and still others used as larders. There are even stomach-like rooms where the songmice dispose of leftovers, their dead, and deposite their waste.
23. Wood Dragon - Gecko-like tubedragon that's camoflauged perfectly to the bark of certain woody plant species.
26. Glump - a fat bodied, mollusk like creature with stalked, limblike mouths that rasp a distinct trail of polished circles in the algae covered surfaces it traverses.
14. Red beaked balaap - these nervous little beasts are such avid predators of small insects that haruspers took to keeping them in their homes as pest control. They'll even groom harsupers, picking through the feathers to clean up lice and ticks. There are even salons for those who don't have any themselves to visit to relax and get groomed.

The second artpromt from Emily Hare and her beautiful fantasy world Strangehollow is the looking tree which make the cover of her first book so stunning. I’m not sure anything actually wants to climb it but according to my pencils something did :) Check out artbyemilyhare!

DrStrangetober Day 15: Happy end for...
Everyone: Tony Stark is dead!!!
Doctor Stephen Strange: NOT ON MY SHIFT, STARK.
Tumblr media
I've never been good at coming to terms with the canonical deaths of my favorite characters. And, unfortunately, usually my favorite characters almost always died. It has hurt me since childhood. I remember how, closing the book, I worried for a long time and came up with stories like "what if this story ended one way or another." And I remember that explosion of brain and emotions when I first discovered such a thing as fanfics, fandoms and fanarts, where ordinary creators had power over the fate of the characters. Canonical death was no longer mandatory, the last point in history. Now, in addition to the canon universe, there was a limitless multiverse of possibilities in the world for a favorite character.
So NOT ON MY SHIFT, Stark. 😐We have a Sorcerer here, and he is also a neurosurgeon who thoroughly knows the structure of the human body, therefore, by merging his art of magic and deep knowledge of neurosurgery, using the powers of stones of infinity, Dr. Stephen Strange will be able to fight off the death of Tony Stark ... whatever the cost to him.
I have an idea for little comics in addition to this picture, also I will colore it later 🙄 One day.

October is here, and this year I’m working off a list of fantastical beast names (#Strangetober on Instagram) and making them into birgworld fauna
So as not to spam the world, I think I’ll share them in groups of 4 like this (assuming I can keep this up!)
1. The Maned Besk: Males of this species bear enormous, pincerlike forelimbs used for grappling opponents in an attempt to flip them over.
Tumblr media
2. The Narhegg: A fox sized predator that subdues prey larger than itself with the grip of its scissorlike jaws
Tumblr media
3. The stinking Saalg: A small omnivore that defends itself using a foul smelling secretion from its two “tails”
Tumblr media
4. The Leatherwing Fairy: Aside from the texture of its wings, this sparrow sized bugbird is noteworthy for its habit of feeding on the blood of larger animals when its preferred fruits are not in season

13. Pestiferous tree grub - pest of lumber plants
20. The Wiffle - aphid-like pest of a variety of crops
10. Barrow Honk - engaged in courtship
And the colored version of the water spirit (7)
I've given up on doing these in order

Hi! I was wondering what monster challenges you knew of for the months - like faebruary, mermay, etc.?
Hey there, and sure thing! So there is already an exophilia list that @sugary-mystery put together here! (And I’ll reblog for good measure!) In addition to sugary’s list, here are a few others that, while not purely monster themed, evoke content that borders monsters, such as fantasy or folklore. I love seeing and collecting art themed challenges. Going through these tags on social media is generally a delight, and highly inspiring! **If there isn’t a link, I’m having trouble finding the origin of the tag, in which case I will edit when I find it, or if someone pops in to tell me!
January I know Clawnuary is on sugary’s list, but otherwise I haven’t seen much for January challenges/prompts.
February Februfairy, Faebruary, Februfae, Feevrier ; fairies and Fae of all kinds! I’ve seen more variants on the tag, but the main thing is Fae in February
March March of Robots ; robots, androids (was originally another October art variant, but moved over to March!) Magical March ; magical girl themed! But lbh, who says you can’t have monstery-magical girls??
April AdventureApril ; fantasy character designs! April Colors ; art and color theme, but can lend to writing (and is put out by Faunwood, an artist who draws a lot of creature cute/eerie art)
May Mermay ; merfolk and sea people of all kinds Monstrous May ; I did this last year and took asks for prompts! There was never a hard list though MythicMay ; mythology! monsters!
June Junicorn ; Unicorns, though I’ve seen people spread into all kind of single horned beings, as well as a more widely equine-fantasy focus such as centaurs, kelpies etc JuneBug ; Bug oriented! I’ve seen various artists use it on twitter and instagram JuneFae ; Another art heavy month used on various social media, along the same lines as Faebruary
July This is another one that’s kind of empty when it comes to challenges!
August Taurgust ; centaurs, taurens, -taur beings! Smaugust ; as in Smaug, as in dragons!
September Swordtember ; I absolutely salivated over the gorgeous art for this tag this year (but enchanted swords, weapons, mimics etc - this could well include all of those!)
October Elftober ; various! Orctober ; various! Witchtober ; various! Monster-Mix Challenge Monstertober Strangetober
November Necrovember ; undead, vamps, ghouls and the like Folktale Week ; a single week of prompts featuring fantasy/folklore oriented ideas
December Demoncember ; this and a handful of other demon-y month titles came from @avedavice after a convo we had on twitter! There isn’t a prompt list though Christmas Monsters ; various monster prompts dELFcember ; elves!!
---
Nadiarausa and many others put out several gorgeous, folklore/otherworldly type prompt lists on instagram for various weeks
More vague, idle thoughts of my own because I love alliteration, rhymes and silly themes: Mothful March or Mothful May July Fly (Flying July? Fly July?? flying creatures!! Or heck, maybe flies),  Gargo-ly (Gargoyles!!! or, oof, does that look too much like gargle??), sept makes me think of septogram which makes me think of summoning circles so September Summons?  Jotunnuary! Norse giants!!
Welp. Hopefully I didn’t overdo things, and you can find something that suits your fancy!
