hi i just wanna say i spent like. 4 hours trying to figure out ireena / taty's skin color and like. she's having the same problem as me irl with finding exact skin tone on charts- help. also ireena having brown skin is doing wonders for my simping. as a brownie myself, seeing art or merch of her with her brown skin just. oo -chefs kiss- ty artists i love you!! anyways simping aside-

what would her skin color be closest to? Umber? Carob? Sienna? Copper? Bronze?

her skin feels like a mix between cool brown and warm tan skin palette, and the VRGtR art makes her look closer to the warmer-leaning palettes.

her lips seem really melanted (oo!! just like mi-), unless it's makeup. but her entire collection of art (majority) just seem average out to a reddish warm brown in general. i was trying to compare her old art with her newer art as a reference point, and they all seem to have this 'warm autumn/spring' hair/skin theme. kind of makes sense for who she is, but she also lives in a place where she probably cant get a better tan so it's annoying to try to figure it out. im bad with skin tone labels cuz theyre so limited. let alone how skintones irl can change by season/stress/conditions/etc, but i just want a reference point to help with artsies!

either way, i found a neat chart that i think is used for foundation/makeup on skin, but seems to be in ireena's shade/temp range?

also no pressure to answer, i just wanna talk about it in general. what do other artists choose for her? cool, neutral, warm? i personally pick a warm brown for reasons above. hehe- 🧡🧡

i'm not an artist, so i don't have as much insight as i'd like, but it doesn't seem like wotc has a clear style guide for the character since there are some variations between her cos art / vrgtr art and the miniature. HOWEVER, because i'm white, i don't think i can say how to interpret her skintone. @strahdapologist / @strahdvonzarovich can possibly give more insight because i would feel more comfortable leaving that question to people of colour. in spite of that, artists (especially white artists) should still be aware and respect that she is depicted as a person of colour and should strive to draw her as such.

don't apologise for rambling though, sorry i don't have more to add! other than that i think fans should make more of an effort to properly draw poc.
