Kinda an unprompted Threshold AU idea I'd had a while ago surrounding Protectors and Kathryn feeling her lil baby kick for the first time. :)

I'd imagined she'd be stirring in bed contemplating whatever future awaits her return to the Delta Quadrant as Fleet Commander when she'd feel a flutter for the first time. And then proceeds to stay up reading and sporadically feeling the sensation. And Philippa would notice the light on outside of her room and goes to investigate.

I've done a lot of harping on the Eragon movie for the past few days.

That said, I did go to some of the official clips on YouTube, and the top comments were filled with people who loved the movie. It's deeply nostalgic for a lot of people, and lots of people commented about how it was a big part of their childhood, or how enchanting they thought Saphira was, and how they wanted people to give the movie a chance.

So maybe I didn't like the movie. But it added more magic and dragons to the world, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Been looking at moving into Seattle to finish my degree next year and while exciting the financial aspect is making me wanna *** fr

#on campus parking passes are $589 a quarter. A QUARTER.#I get wanting to encourage using public transportation and discourage single passenger vehicle usage #but that’s insane. it’s insane!#there are pay by the month garages in Seattle that charge almost half that #probably what I’ll end up doing. stow my car most of the time until I need it. I need to be able to drive to visit family and stuff but #won’t need it day to day #OH and after all that money you’re only allowed to park in one. assigned. parking lot.#and if you want to park anywhere else on campus you have to get a SECOND special pass #and ofc. don’t get me started on housing #I mean I think I found some good options living on campus. but just the act of Looking at apartments in the area #psychological torture.#1500+ a month to live in the most ludicrous conditions possible

This morning, Nick asked for a pencil--I pulled one out of my hair for him.

Later, Lily asked for a bookmark--I pulled one out of my hair for her.

Later, Duncan asked if anybody had a spare hairtie--I made him cup his two hands together, filled his hands with all the things currently in my hair, took the scrunchie out of my hair, twisted my hair back up and anchored it with pencils, put all my stuff back in it, and gave him the scrunchie.

Later, Mom asked for a permanent marker--I pulled one out of my hair for her.

Later, Ben said he was feeling snacky, did anybody have anything to eat. I do not, I must admit, actually keep food in my hair. But I did have novelty kitkats in my pocket, and I did get bored the other day and spend a little time on my sleight of hand.

I pulled one, two, three kitkats out of my hair for him.

#yapping tag #that's the whole family folks! the bingo card is full!#it was fucking satisfying too I gotta say #extra extra bonus points too for not only the absurdity of pulling multiple pieces of candy 'out of my hair' but unusual candies at that #(kitkats in cheesecake chestnut and wheat-cracker flavors)#also as a point of clarification I do want to say I don't intentionally stock my hair with useful objects #that would be weird even for me #but having the family here while their school's on break means welcoming a certain amount of chaos into our lives #and basically all the little easily-lost things I find in inopportune places around the house I stow away on my person #until I can put them somewhere more secure #but then if we're on the move (as we almost always are) I don't get that chance to secure them until everybody else conks out at night #so they have to stay stowed on me #and I don't carry a bag or anything so whatever isn't convenient to put in my pockets--mostly all the long pointy things--goes into the hair #other things in my hair this week have included: dry erase markers galore. magnets. an entire pocketknife. straws. a cat toy. a spoon.#my pockets have been pretty continuously full of dice and chocolates and puzzle pieces and pieces of coal #(real pieces of coal and not for Christmas reasons either. Duncan brings them back from when he goes walking in the river)#if it were warmer Duncan would be in his cargo shorts and I'd be stowing things on him instead but alas

#ignorance cloud on #i use a bluetooth keyboard and its kinda clunky like its big #but i have this like stand i put my laptop on too so its hard to manage both on my lap #(which is my preferred way of holding my laptop when im sitting)#but now ive learned i can just stow my keyboard Under the laptop on its stand and type this way #like this entire thing ive typed without looking at my keyboard!#this has solved writing at my house for me

I fucking love Klara and Avery but I really wish they 1) were not COMPLETELY version exclusive like having only one be your rival? Fine but I wish they could’ve incorporated the other one somehow and 2) used different Pokémon as their aces. I think it’s cool that galarian Slowbro is both poison and psychic to fit both of their type specialties but I wish they’d gotten aces that felt more suited to them specifically….

#the version exclusive gym leaders have the same issue tho #like I wish you could like. just talk to Bea in her house in Stow-on-Side in Shield #i really really hope Sada and Turo don’t have the same problem #like gen 5 had version exclusive gym leaders but you still got to meet both characters in both versions #then again I feel like if u had Avery in Sword he’d still try to outdo you #and vice versa w Klara #unless they make them like. graduated students of the dojo

Danny's found a way to dodge GIW trackers, as well as his parents. Their equipment hunts ghosts, ghosts run on emotion; so as long as he keeps his under a tight lid and doesn't feel anything ever, they won't be able to track him.

It works!

He's able to run from them, and goes as far as New Jersey. The plan was to stow away on a ship, and go to literally any country that wasn't America. He goes to Gotham, which hosts the one harbor he knows where no one will ask any questions.

But because of how weird he acted (completely emotionless during a Joker attack), he was fingered by police immediately.

He's handed over to CPP. CPP doesn't know what to do with a teen literally so traumatized that they don't show any emotion at all, ever. He keeps just...walking out of his placements. Just leaves without a sound.

Luckily, he's always caught, due to those placement houses having quiet alarms and him refusing to run.

They call the one foster parent they know who does.

Bruce Wayne takes in the strange, nameless kid who refuses to talk.

On paper, they gave him the filler name of 'John Doe', for lack of anything better to do.

Bruce does everything he can to make the newest arrival feel at home. Damian, for as territorial as he is, actually breaks out of his shell sooner than expected just to try to get the new kid to speak. To emote. To do something. Duke tries the open approach, then tries the 'no one will ever know, everyone thinks I'm an innocent goody-two-shoes' approach. Nada.

Tim even tries to trick him into talking, but nothing works.

Enter Dick; Dick heard about Bruce's new ward, about the situation, and decided to see if he could get the kid to open up.

Danny though. Danny's in trouble.

The Wayne Manor is weirdly secure, and he can't just walk away like he did his other placements. He can't use ghost powers or the GIW and his parents will immediately know where he is.

He really, really wants to take Bruce up on his offer and just spend the day relaxing. Respond to Damian's attempts to provoke him. Overshare about space facts with Tim.

But most of all, he really, desperately wants to get in a Pun Competition with Dick. He wants to laugh at Dick's jokes, and learn coolass gymnastic tricks!

But he can't!

If he relaxes with Bruce, he'll be content, which is an emotion. If he argues with Damian, he'll get annoyed, which is an emotion. If he sneaks out with Duke and breaks the rules, he'll get happy, which, again, emotion. If he overshares with Tim, he'll get excited, which is, yet again, an emotion!

The worst sin of all, he can't even show proper appreciation of the food the Butler keeps making him!

And now there's even more people coming over!

There's a quiet girl who keeps reading his body language and trying to get him to dance ballet, a blonde girl who keeps trying to kidnap him to take him to BatBurger, a guy with a stripe of white who wants to take him to a shooting range, and it just...he really, really wants to!

He wants to do all these cool things with them!

But he fucking can't!
