"You aren't going to chase me?"
"Why would I wear myself out chasing you when you're never ever going to let me catch you?"
"... I mean, that's fair, but honestly... Would you know what to do if you caught me?"
"I wouldn't have a clue."

hi!! love your writing - it’s seriously inspiring and i take inspo often ,, how about story starters for a intro where two characters are just lounging around?
Hi there :)
Thank you so much for me telling me, that makes me really happy to read!
This is a really broad topic you're requesting. This could go in any kind of direction. So I will just give you a few story starters that you could do a lot different things with.
Story Starters
Today, they were being lazy. Not even the knock on the door could get them to get off the couch.
"I'm bored out of my mind. We really need a new case to solve."
The TV was just background noise until they heard the name of their own city being talked about in a breaking news segment.
"I keep having this dream I told you about."
They would have to get ready soon, if they still wanted to make it on time.
"Are you serious about wanting to do absolutely nothing today?"
They had the kind of relationship where they didn't have to talk at all.
"Have you heard about the rumors that are going around?"
She had made a promise to him that she would probably break today.
"It's just one of those days, I guess."
I hope you can get inspired by one or more of these :)

Dialogue prompts:
“No, sir. I am not underestimating the kidnappers. YOU are underestimating my grandmother”
“They have a bad habit of killing off the new guy”
“How the hell did she find lipstick in the apocalypse? We’re in the middle of nowhere!”
“Holy shit. You are... Wow”
“Paint me crimson for the ceremony”
“Did any of these assholes mess with you?”
“Call me the Crown Prince of collateral damage”
“How do you fail to drown a child?”
“You have tricked me, burned down my house, threatened my livelihood, and almost killed me a few times. But despite all that, you’re still my best friend”
“I’ve never had a mummy before”

Story/Sentence Starters #1 (Taken From Stories I'll Probably Never Finish Writing.)
Feel free to change any pronouns to fit your narrative :] Credit is not needed.
《☆》
Their intention was not to kiss them.
The watch on their wrist ticked, and ticked and ticked.
For an unusually amount of time, [name] has been staring at [name].
Having to spend their Saturday confined in a closet with [name] was surely an unexpected way for them to spend their weekend.
Whether it was a mistake or not, [name] did not care.
They had not given this near as much thought as they should have.
There was nothing [name] hated more than being royalty.
There was a subtle hum. It was almost inaudible, but [name] caught it.
This wasn't [name]'s wisest decision. They could admit that, but it was too late to turn back now.
Normally, the whirr of the fan would pass undetected. Now, it was all [name] could hear.

Emotional hurt/comfort prompts
Send me one + a character/characters/ship and I might write you something!
“You know...when you get insulted enough, you'll eventually forget what a real compliment sounds like.”
“Important to you? Me? Don't joke about things like that.”
“When did you last sleep?”
“I keep returning to that place...to that moment and thinking...maybe I could have changed it, somehow.”
“Every time I hear that sound, I'm a child again, and all the bad things...they happen all over again.”
“You're hurting. Let me help.”
“I keep wishing for an accident to happen. To have a real reason for my pain. Isn’t that fucked up?”
“I’ve noticed you avoiding me. Why?”
“I don’t need anyone to tell me I’m traumatised!”
“Sometimes I feel like there is a weight on my chest that takes away all my breath.”
“I miss them, dammit! I miss them so much.”
“I know it’s stupid to want it back and yet...I can’t help but wanting to go back to the times when everything was easier.”
“You don’t always have to shoulder it alone, you know.”
“I hate seeing you be in so much pain.”
“I’ve got nothing left! Why do you still hang around me?”
“Ah, but that kind of feelings are not allowed. Not for me, anyway.”
“For someone who’s always comforting others, you sure do a shit job of letting yourself be comforted.”

Do you have any friends to lovers writing prompts? :D
yes :))
Character A wants to go out somewhere, but they are too scared to go alone. Cue Character B immediately stepping in to go with Character A and beat up anyone who tries to mess with them.
Character A goes on a blind date. Secretly jealous, Character B goes and spies on the two--thank goodness B did, because the date goes terrible and B brings A home. (And A keeps asking how B ended up there but B refuses to tell A that B was spying on A)
Character A and Character B having a sleepover. They stay up almost all night telling embarrassing secrets to each other, playing games, etc. In the morning, Character A wakes up to Character B's arms wrapped around A.
Character A and Character B are so close that everyone mistakes them for a couple. When they actually become one, no one is surprised.
Character A keeps doing romantic things to show their love for Character B, but Character B is too damn oblivious to notice and passes everything off as platonic.
Two people one bed trope but instead of Character A and Character B thinking it's awkward, they are fine with it since they're so close.
Character A teaching Character B something hands on (ex; playing the piano, archery, painting, etc) A gets a little too close to B, and they both notice. Cue Romantic/Sexual tension.
Hope you like these!!! I had lots of fun writing them :)

Story Starters!
Here are all our original story starter prompts as well as the one that launched this whole enterprise!
Tumblr media
The rules are simple: start with the given sentence/paragraph(s) and see where your imagination takes you! You may change POV and/or tense if you like.
Story Starter 1:
The cool wind pushes my hair back as I walk along the familiar path, every step taking me deeper into the past. It’s been years since I’ve been here, everything is different, everything is the same.
I’m not paying attention to the present as I walk, I’m too lost in memories of the past. That’s why I don’t notice the other person walking toward me until I hear a familiar voice call my name.
I freeze. It can’t be. What are the odds? I lift my head and my eyes dart wildly around before finally landing on a face Id recognize anywhere, even now.
“It’s you.”
Story Starter 2:
“Holy crap, we’re gonna be late!” the woman yelped when her eyes glanced up at the decorative wall clock. “Turn that off!” she ordered in a cross tone to her companion, who was still watching the streaming show.
“Late? For what?” The question was asked in a tone that was both confused and distracted.
“The THING!”
Her companion finally pulled their eyes away from the 60-inch screen, brows furrowed. “I know of no THING,” they protest.
She heaved a huge sigh of exasperation. “It’s on your calendar! Now, stop talking and start moving!” She gently slapped their forearm in light admonishment. “I’m done with the conversation now!”
She turned away to plump her pillows.
Her eyes widened in surprise when she felt arms wrap around her waist and pads of thumbs press into her hips. Her body is a feather as it’s pulled back onto the bed.
“Sit back down!” her companion ordered.
The woman frowns at them before her eyes find the television screen again.
What the...? Is that …? WHAT is he doing?
“I’m sat!”
Story Starter 3:
“This isn’t working for me anymore.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
“This was the agreement. This has always been the agreement. Or have you forgotten?”
“I’ve forgotten nothing. But everything is different now.”
Story Starter 4:
“I didn’t mean it like that!”
“How did you mean it then?”
“You know…in a good way!”
“In what universe could what you just said be construed in a good way?”
They stood facing each other, hearts pounding, chests heaving with emotion.
Neither wanted to be the first to admit their feelings to the other.
“I’m leaving!”
“Wait! Please don’t! I….I’m ready to tell you the truth!”
Story Starter 5:
“Grab your coat, leave a note, and run away with me.”
Bonus Story Starter:
“Are you really going to marry him?” he asked as his fingers traced across her naked body.
“Yes.” She was laying on her stomach, her head lying on her crossed arms.
He studied her face intently as if he could read her thoughts if only he concentrated hard enough, “Why?”
“Because I love him.” Annoyance laced her voice.
“But what about us?” he asked as his fingers trailed down her arm.
“There is no us.” She said in irritation as she pulled away.

Story Prompt 78
There lived a group of friends who always seemed to find themselves in the middle of mischief. They were known for their wild antics and their knack for bending the rules just enough to keep life interesting.
One sunny afternoon, as they lounged lazily by the riverbank, one of them spoke up, "You know what? I'm getting tired of playing it safe all the time. There's gotta be more to life than following all these boring rules."
Another friend nodded in agreement, lazily tossing a pebble into the water. "Yeah, I mean, what's the point of being young if we can't have a little fun, right?"
Their conversation sparked a rebellion of sorts among the group. They began to question the status quo and seek out new adventures, much to the dismay of the townsfolk who clung tightly to tradition.
One evening, they stumbled upon an old abandoned mansion on the outskirts of town. Despite the warnings to stay away, they couldn't resist the allure of exploring its mysterious halls.
As they ventured deeper into the mansion, their excitement grew. "This is amazing! Can you imagine what secrets this place holds?" one of them exclaimed, shining a flashlight into the darkness.
But their fun was short-lived when they heard a creaking noise coming from the staircase. "Uh-oh, sounds like someone else is here," whispered another, their heart racing with adrenaline.
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the halls, "Who dares to trespass in my home?" The friends froze, their eyes wide with fear as they realized they were not alone.
Before they could flee, a figure emerged from the shadows – an old man with a stern expression. "I have warned you youngsters time and time again to stay away from here. Now, you must face the consequences of your actions."
