Hey, could I just request a Garcia x nb or gn!reader? R is a hacker cybercrime unit, is polar opposite to Garcia (not so much outgoing, kinda dark if you get what I mean lol), and BAU just being surprised because they never suspected it. Thank you! Have a wonderful day/night! <3
I hope this is too your liking! This was actually an amazing prompt and I absolutely loved writing it! There isn't enough Garcia content in the world so I'm always happy to write some! I broke things up into three parts so i could write a bit about how you met and everything too, I hope thats alright Warnings: Nothing really, mentions of alcohol, mentions of existentialism very briefly Word count: 1.6k
You and Penelope had been dating for a few months, but it was taking a while for you to feel comfortable with meeting her team; at least meeting them as he partner. You had seen the BAU in passing, obviously, often in the elevator as they were just a few floors above the cyber crime unit where you worked, but your limited interactions so far had gone not exactly well.
The last time the BAU needed the cyber crime unit’s help was actually how you and Penelope met. Your differences were immediately noticeable. Her bright clothes and fancy jewelry really stood out against your all-black ensemble. Cyber crime is no joke and their dress code let you know that. You didn’t mind it, as standing out wasn’t exactly what you wanted to do, but that’s what Penelope was all about. She was like a ray of sunshine. Immediately she wanted to be close to you, share her computer space, and gush over your Linux systems. She even offered to take you to lunch, which you reluctantly accepted. That lunch was the best thing that ever happened to you, and the two of you had been dating ever since. The rest of the case was not as great.
You know how Penelope does that whole flirting thing with her coworkers? Yeah, well, your quips usually come out a little more existential than endearing. When Reid had to sit down for a while after your comment on the inherent amoral nature of the universe and the random assignment of meaning and value that people have given action and identity, you didn’t think they were stoked on having you around. You couldn’t wait to get back to cyber crimes either.
            With that said, Penelope was very important to you, and you would do absolutely anything to make her happy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Penelope’s birthday was coming up and she was super excited. You were over at her place for a movie date one night when you could hear her talking to Morgan on the phone in the other room. They seemed to be discussing details about the party he was planning with Rossi, and it really caught you off guard.
            “So, sweet cheeks, I actually have someone you need to add to that guest list of yours… Yeah it’s a little bit of a surprise…okay well all I can tell you is that they are very special to me, and I want them to meet all of you for real, as my family.” Immediately you rushed over to your girlfriend trying to get her to pause the phone call. Penelope struggled to swat you away, which ended up turning into a full-on chase around her apartment. Still, she continued. “I may or may not be talking about my partner, but until the party you just put that out of that pretty little head of yours. Just make sure there’s a seat for them next to me at the table, okay I love you! Bye!”
            Penelope slammed her phone down on the table a little too hard as she ended the call.
            ‘What was that about?” you started.
            “I could say the same to you baby, do you not wanna come to my birthday party?” Garcia feigned upset; she is nothing if not dramatic.
            “Of course, I want to be there, just, I know your friends don’t like me. And I’m not exactly the most enthused party guest, I’ll have no idea what to say or what to even do with my hands!”
            “Your hands will be in mine the whole time,” she cooed as she pulled you closer to her. “They are going to love you because I love you, okay?”
            “I love you too.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            You did your best to put the party out of your head until you were walking up the driveway to Rossi’s mansion. In an attempt to dry your palms, you rubbed your hands down the front of your black jeans and smoothed out your shirt. Just as you were about to turn back to the car, Derek Morgan burst through the front door to greet Penelope, nearly picking her up with his hug.
            “There’s my favorite birthday girl! Happy birthday, baby!” He said as he spun her around. As she came back to her original position next to you, Derek finally acknowledged you were here. “Hey, Y/n, right? From cyber crimes?” Morgan seemed incredibly confused as to why exactly you were here. You couldn’t tell if it was good or bad though.
            “Yes! Derek, they are actually my partner and special guest for the night so be nice” Penelope said as she playfully nudged her best friend’s shoulder. His face immediately lit up upon learning the special place you had in Penny’s life.
            “Well, it’s great to see you again, Y/n, and welcome! Let’s get the two of y’all inside now, it’s getting kinda chilly out here.” Derek stepped aside and let the two of you find your way through the front door. Almost sensing your anxiety like a superpower of hers, Penelope placed her hand in yours and led the way.
            Rossi’s home was massive, much bigger than anything you had ever seen before. It almost made the team look smaller than it actually was in comparison. JJ and Emily were having a glass of wine in the kitchen with a man you assumed was JJ’s partner Will. Reid and two little boys were sat on the floor with some crayons at the coffee table, coloring in what looked like Spider-man coloring books. Hotch watched the three of them fondly with a whiskey in hand as he and Rossi chatted away on the couch.
            “So, I know you’ve met the team, but that in the kitchen is Will, and those two little boys are Henry, who is JJ and Will’s son, and Jack who is Hotch’s son,” Penelope explained before the room had noted your presence. The second everyone saw Penny walk in, though, they were all over her, showering her in hugs and affection. You let yourself be pushed to the side, not wanting to get caught in all the hugging and touching quite yet.
            “Happy birthday Auntie Penelope!” the two boys squealed in unison, like they had been practicing all night.
            “Happy birthday, Pen” Emily and JJ said as they sandwiched her from either side.
            The boys all gave Penelope a kiss on the cheek and made their way back towards their seats until Rossi noticed you off to the side.
            “And is this y/n from cyber crimes? So, you’re the partner Derek has been telling us about all night? He said Penelope seemed quite smitten over the phone.” The room seemed oddly quiet as you sent a small wave to everyone.
            “Yes, y/n and I have actually been dating since that case we worked with them. It was love at first sight.” Penny lovingly sighed as she cuddled up on your arm, leading you to a seat on the couch.
            “Well, congrats you two,” Hotch said taking a seat across from you both. “Honestly, though, I have to say I’m` surprised.”
            “I hope that’s nothing bad,” you joked. They were the first words you had spoken all night, and you were already dreading where the night was going.
            “Oh, not at all. Our Penelope is just, quite…unique.”
            “Which is a polite way of saying she can’t keep secrets” Emily said as she shot Penelope a side glance. “I think we’re all just a little shocked that she was able to keep this under wraps for so long.”
            “The two of you seem so different as well,” JJ chimed in. She wasn’t wrong. You were sure that she assumed Penny would want someone more outgoing and social. Even you had thought that at the beginning of your relationship. The two of you seemed to balance each other out though, and that’s what you loved.
            “I think we help keep each other sane,” you joked again, starting to get into a rhythm with the team. “The balance is actually really nice.” The team seemed enamored with you. It was nice to know that your first impression hadn’t ruined things completely. Surprise aside, they were all very happy for you and Penelope. You could tell they just wanted Penny to be happy, and she seemed ecstatic to have you on her arm tonight as her date. Finally, you felt yourself relax as you watched the conversation around you.
            “So, what took you so long to bring y/n around to the family dinners?” Rossi asked Penelope.
            “Well, we just wanted to take things slow. As crazy as I am, you lot can get a bit rowdy when you’re wine drunk.” She said as she gave side eyes back to Emily as payback for earlier that evening.
            “Also, after I nearly broke Dr. Reid on that case, I was a little hesitant to meet everyone again,” you chimed in.
            “Actually, I found your line of question on morality quite intriguing, and I ended up doing quite a bit of reading on moral codes and evolution of humanity, especially in the context of developing society, and I’ve even been reading up on existentialism as well. It’s quite- ”
            “Thank you, boy genius,” Penelope interrupted, “but it is in fact my birthday and I’d like to believe that there is still some good in the world, so maybe let’s hold off on the Sartre before dinner?”
            “We’ll have to chat reading at some point,” Reid remarked to you before heading to refill his drink. “You want anything y/n?”
            “Thanks, but I think I’m alright for now,” you said, but you were much more than alright. You had everything you could possibly want in life with Penelope on your arm. She was your world, and you were just happy to be in hers.
I hope this was what you were looking for! I had a really great time writing it so let me know what you think in the comments! Sorry it took so long for me to get this one out, I'm going back to school rn so I've been getting ready for my college semester lately lol, but this was such a good time to write so i hope ur happy with it! dungeon meshi is soooo fucking great especially when it hits its stride and all characters have come into play bc it's just like
laios: I want to eat all the fucking monsters i want the monsters carnally
marcille: EATING MOSNTERS???? UNHOLY. UNCOUTH. DISGUSTING. anyway here's all the dark magic and necromancy i've got on the backburner to bring back my dragon-digested gf and also i plan to find a way for everyone to live forever at the cost of my very soul if need be
kabru, normally, in a normal tone he's rehearsed 42000 times in front of a mirror: I'M NORMAL. I'M SOOOO FUCKING NORMAL. I'M THE MOST NORMAL GUY AROUND AND I'M NOT CONSTANTLY PLOTTING ASSASSINATIONS FOR THE GREATER GOOD
senshi: I have all this trauma abt being the sole survivor of the fantasy equivalent of the franklin expedition but that's not important what really matters here is eat yer goddamn veggies or so help me
and the best part is that none of them are straight

I know I talk and joke about shipping in dungeon meshi a lot but I honestly really like that this is emphatically NOT a romance manga. The only romance id make explicit if I could is Marcille and Falin but even that it's not really necessary for me to appreciate. It doesn't matter. There are more important things to focus on. The fact that im a horny bitch does not detract from my appreciation for a story that knows what it wants to talk about first and foremost and doesn't feel the need to shoehorn in extra romance for no reason.

my controversial opinion is that i like that laios is bigger and more muscular than kabru because, as a poc, buff brown guy x scrawny white guy is so popular and tired, i like it whenever there’s a subversion of it from a work that’s well written. of course, not to mention that they have a very fun dynamic and the comic from the new official world guide spelling out for everyone that they do care about each other lol
i like that kabru does look feminine, especially when fandom makes the brown one always the bigger and masculine one in fanon and any instance of their delicate features is erased, even in yuri (looking at gwitch lol)
speaking of, i really like kikimari in that namari is portrayed as very masculine while kiki is feminine and elegant in fanwork
obviously, fandom isn’t activism duh, but i’m merely speaking from experience as someone who dabbles in both eastern and western fan spaces. i’ve seen it happen so many times that it’s become the staple so i love subversion that’s actually good

Kaka compilation
Because everyone is sleeping on him. Witness his greatness!! First two Kaka colored icons were colored by me, lineart by Ryoko Kui though!
Kaka & Kiki are kinda like Laios & Falin… Kaka being stoic and giving repressed energy like early Laios, Kiki being cryptic and always smiling and kinda soft-looking. Autism siblings 2, ostracized and othered as kids and have a deep bond due to sticking together through it all, though unlike with Laios their parents are very loving so Kaka developed family as a big value more than Laios (bc asides for Falin Laios doesn’t care much about it).
In the gnome festival comic you can see Kaka is more emotive than he seems! Full with a :3 face, and he’s the one crying at the end. He’s insecure about his legs and being tall… It really got to him. Conceal don’t feel. In the gnome festival comic you also see him sensing others’ gaze on him and that something is off unlike Kiki, again Laios-like in the way that judgement from others gets to him more than her.

alright, i just got around to finishing Dungeon Meshi- and damn if it didn't stick the landing!
there's a lot to recommend in this manga. first- it's extraordinarily fucking funny. it does not forget that it's a comic, and consistently has great visual gags even when something deeply fucked up and serious is happening.
Tumblr media
and it fires on all other cylinders, too- the character designs are great, the worldbuilding is intricate and believable and does a lot of interesting things with standard fantasy tropes, the main cast is likable and has a great dynamic, the story keeps a lot of plates spinning without getting up its own ass or forgetting the details...
but the thing that really impresses me about Dungeon Meshi- the thing that sticks out as something it does uniquely well- is the theming.
Dungeon Meshi is about hunger and eating. it is about those things, hardcore. just about every plot point and every character dynamic is about that theme, approached from a dazzling array of different angles. it's got plenty to say about like, actual food and cooking, sure- but it also gets into the nature of desire, the cycle of predation, differing personal tastes, taking the other into oneself, satiation vs motivation... it makes sure that every development in the story is grounded in and building on that theme somehow.
Food is not a gimmick- Food is what the story is about, and not as a bit. this isn't a silly food-world full of food-creatures and food-magic- this is a normal, well-developed fantasy setting, in which a story is being told that focuses relentlessly on the relationship of the characters to food and eating. it manages to feel completely natural, even with so much going on that you'd think the food thing would get in the way. it doesn't get in the way. the story was designed around it, down to the smallest detail.
i think it might be a 10/10 manga! it does everything it sets out to do, completely successfully, with a ton of humor and charm. well-paced, well-drawn, well-written, good ending- i can't think of anything to complain about. highly recommended.

could u plz write a jj x reader angst where reader is caught in a building with a bomb and jj finds them afterwards + hospital moment. it can end angsty or happy, ur call. thankssss
Request for @melatonindaydreamz: I gave you a little bit of an angsty and happy ending cuz i couldn't decide lol. i hope you like it! Warnings: explosions, mentions of disability discussed in a not quite positive light by the disabled person word count: 1.6k (I got carried away lol)
The warehouse was huge and definitely needed more than two people to case it, but the rest of the team was on site all the way across town, leaving just you and JJ for the take down. The clock was ticking for sure. The unsub, a teenage girl from the local high school, had been on a spree but suddenly disappeared leaving the trail completely cold. The warehouse was the first hit Garcia had in the last three days, and there was no time to lose.
“If you’ve got the sweep here, I’m gonna move to the next building,” you said. JJ was one of the most prolific agents, and you knew she could handle sweeping the first building alone, even though she wouldn’t want to. You didn’t want to waste time, anxious to bring in the unsub and get the two of you back home to your apartment in D.C.
“No, there’s no way I’m letting us split up. Last time I split up with someone, Spencer was kidnapped and I just-” You cut off your girlfriend with a kiss, hoping to ease some of her anxiety. Whether she liked it or not, you had to catch this unsub, which meant splitting up.
“I promise that I’ve got this, and I know you do too. Plus, I’m pretty sure I can take down a teenager. If I can take you down in training, a badass federal agent with years of experience, then I’m pretty sure the unsub doesn’t stand a chance.” Luckily, you were able to get a little giggle out of her.
“That was one time, and I let you win.”
“Whatever helps you sleep at night, baby.”
“I just can’t lose you, Y/n.” You felt the worry in her voice. Placing a kiss on her forehead, you reassured her one last time.
“You couldn’t get rid of me if you tried to, JJ,” you said, and with that you headed off into the next building.
The warehouse was set up in a series of buildings one after the other, all connected by hallways. Towards the back of the building, there was one of these hallways leading into the next building over, so you quickly made your way through. On the other side, you could see someone huddled in the far corner blocking something from view. Careful not to alert the figure, you made your way slowly down the side towards the back, using the pallets to disguise you approach.
“Hands up! I’m Agent y/l/n from the FBI, it’s over.” Immediately you regretted splitting up, because the unsub launched herself at you, lacing her hands around your throat. She tackled you into the stack of pallets behind, pain shooting through your spine. The shock of the impact paralyzed you for a moment. You wrestled her to the ground though and gave your speech. As you looked up from where the two of you were on the ground, you could finally see the bomb in the corner. It was a complete surprise.
“Y/n!” JJ shouted as she ran into the room. “I heard the crash, are you okay?”
“You need to get out of here!”
“There’s no way I’m leaving you!”
“JJ! There’s a bomb in the corner! I need you to get out of here. Call Hotch, let him know we need a bomb tech, I’ve got her, just get out of here. Please!” She hesitated for a moment and started to call Hotch.
“I’m calling but I’m not leaving!”
You moved to grab your handcuffs, reading the unsub her rights. That’s when she pulled the explosive trigger out from her pocket. You watched the clock shift from 3 hours to 30 seconds. The surprise let the unsub get the upper hand as she wrestled you again.
JJ started towards you, but you didn’t want her caught up in everything.
“The clock! JJ, we don’t have time!! You need to run. Please go!” You slammed the butt of your gun against the unsubs head, knocking her over. Scrambling to your feet, you took off in a sprint. “I said run!” you screamed again, and JJ finally disappeared through the hallway.
Suddenly, the unsub slammed you to the ground from behind. She was weak, though, so you were able to turn around and fire. The bullet landed in her shoulder and gave you just enough reprieve to get out from under her. However, it was too late.
It was the loudest thing you had ever heard. One second, JJ’s voice was yelling as you crawled towards the hallway, and the next, the only thing your ears could register was the deafening boom of the bomb going off behind you. Everything felt too bright as a hot stinging pain ripped through your whole body. You could barely keep your eyes open as JJ rushed back in.
“Come on, baby, stay with me. Please just keep those pretty little eyes open. I need you to stay with me, alright?” JJ’s voice was having the opposite effect of what she was hoping for though, because you were slowly lulled into sleep by her soft words.
There were voices swimming through the room when you started to wake up. It was definitely a relief to hear something other than explosions and ringing. However, what you were hearing made you nervous.
“I’ll go make that call about your apartment,” said a voice that sounded like Morgan.
“If it’s alright, I’m going to check back in with Garcia. There’s a lot of changes that need to be made, and she can start them before we get back. Let us know when y/n wakes up and we can discuss next steps,” said another voice that sounded similar to Hotch. You were confused about what needed to be discussed.
There was an uncomfortable dull pinching that started to dig into your back more and more as you woke up. You attempted to push yourself up but were too weak to make any progress. There was very little feeling coming from your legs which was confusing.
“Hey, y/n, just lay down okay? Let me get the doctor.”
“Are my legs moving? I can’t feel them.” The look in JJ’s eyes and the tears that she wiped away confirmed your fears were true.
“I’ll get the doctor,” Spencer said from the doorway. “I think the two of you should talk,” and with Spencer now gone, and Emily following him, it was just you and JJ in the room.
“Um, there was a piece of shrapnel that landed in your lower back. The injury is incomplete, you can regain some of your movement, but it’s gonna be a lot of work.” JJ could barely meet your eyes as she told you what happened.
It was heartbreaking news. If you couldn't do fieldwork, would they even keep you in the BAU? Was that the change Hotch had been talking about? And JJ, what was she going to think when she eventually got tired of helping you? Would she still want to be together if you need assistance? Would she even want to help at all? Maybe Morgan was helping her move her things out of your apartment. There was so much going through your head that you didn’t even know where to start. Luckily, JJ started for you.
“While you were asleep, I started looking at new apartments.” So she really was moving.
“Rossi also said we can stay with him as you get used to the wheelchair.” Wait, we? Was she not leaving?
“I don’t know how easy our apartment is going to be to navigate, but Morgan sent one of his contractors over there right now to take measurements and make a plan for any changes. Also, Garcia is already bossing everyone around to get ramps in the bullpen so you can get into my office.” JJ’s laugh at Garcia made the hospital room feel a little less heavy. You were even able to let out a small chuckle, but your ribs still hurt from the explosion. Suddenly, JJ’s words really started to sink in.
“Wait, so I get to stay?” You were shocked. You had mentally started to prepare yourself to be kicked out of the BAU. You were trying to brace yourself for JJ to leave. She just confirmed that neither of those things were going to happen though. “And you still want to stay too? With me?”
“I love you, Y/n. Of course, I’m staying. You are so much more than a field agent and we need you. I need you, baby.  I don’t have a life to live if you’re not in it, and the BAU can’t catch the bad guys without you there.” Gently, JJ covered your face in kisses. You couldn’t help but giggle. It was nice to feel her lips against your face, a major contrast from all of the aching and stinging from your injuries.
“I am so lucky I get to love you, Jennifer Jarreau.”
“Not as lucky as I am, Y/n y/l/n. Now, you can’t fly yet, plus the jet will need to be fitted to accommodate your chair, so I have the honor of driving you back to home. Hotch gave us the next two weeks off so we can take our time.”
“Are you upset?” you said, looking back at Hotch who just returned to the room.
“Yes, but in the sense that I wish you weren’t in this position. You did good work today, Y/n. JJ will make sure you rest up on the way home, and we will discuss when you are back in D.C.”
“Oh I promise, y/n will be doing absolutely nothing.”
“God, I’m gonna hate this,” you groaned.
“And I’m going to love it, because I love you,” JJ shot right back, lacing her hand in yours.
“I love you too, JJ.”
Even though thing would be so different now, you knew that with JJ by your side, everything was going to be okay.
I hope you enjoyed it! It's my first time like taking requests so idk if I like did it justice, but i just hope it's what you were looking for. I had a really fun time writing this son thank you for your request! Send your requests here! Find my masterlist here!

Ok so here's my thoughts on dungeon meshi as a D&D party finally.
Okay so Laios and Falin's players (P!Laios & P!Falin) are actually brother and sister in real life. P!Laios got his sister to join him in the D&D game he was in. She was pretty shy and so wanted to make a healer character.
So their party plays the campaign for a while. Maybe a couple years or so. Mostly it doesn't have all that intense of a plot, but everyone's enjoying it.
Then in the dragon fight, Falin's player asks the DM if she can save Laios from the dragon's critical hit bite. The DM says sure but she only rolls like a 13, so the DM lets her save him by sacrificing her character, and she agrees.
Everyone's quite shaken up about it all, and to up the stakes the DM has the couple DMPCs/hirelings they had leave the party.
And now we get to the main focus of this headcanon. After P!Falin died, she wanted to make a new character, with a really different vibe from her old one, especially since she had gotten a lot more comfortable playing D&D now. In real life, she and P!Laios enjoy cooking together a lot, so she talked to the DM and P!Laios about it, and out came Senshi- P!Falin's new character!
P!Laios decides to try to help support P!Senshi's desire to focus more on cooking by taking out a book on monster cooking which he put in his inventory as a bit during character creation.
Basically it went like this
DM, (thinking to DMself: they're pretty overleveled now for the earlier layers of the dungeon, I should try and make it harder on them): so, you're running low on money. Even without the hirelings to pay, you need to sacrifice some of your expenses or sell some of your equipment to afford everything you lost.
P!Laios: Hey DM, how much do our rations cost? Because remember that meme book that I gave myself during character creation on cooking monsters?
DM: *very large sigh*
P!Senshi: *barely-restrained giddiness*
That's the main headcanon, but I also have other minor little headcanons about the other two player's characters.
Chilchuck's player has had some antagonistic DMs who loved torturing their players with traps in the past, so when they were told by the DM that the campaign was going to be "a pretty realistic dungeon crawl", P!Chilchuck decided to make the most roguey rogue of all rogues to ever rogue. They maxed out the trap-finding score to the point where the DM had to actually start including more traps for Chilchuck to feel a bit more useful, since the DM never actually planned on using very many traps in the campaign.
Marcille's player is a huge anime fan, and has made on-and-off jokes this whole time about the dungeon being some sort of bad isekai plot.
DM: Marcille, you feel a wet splash on the top of your head, only seconds before a slime drops on top of you.
P!Marcille: Oh? It's on my head? Is it suffocating me? Choking me perhaps...? Restraining me?
DM: Fuck you. Also you take 2 acid damage.
*everyone laughs at the DM's pain*
DM: There is a large plant monster in front of all of you
P!Marcille: Oh? Does it have vines? Like, tentacle-ish vines?
DM: You know what? It does now. It's rolls a 17 on grappling you. Have a good time with that.
P!Marcille: *waggles eyebrows* okay then
DM: I am going to hit you with my car covered in hammers rigged to explode multiple times and hammers go flying everywhere
While all of this is going on the DM is actually secretly very pleased to make a bunch of worldbuilding around the dungeon ecosystem and monsters and everything.

@theminecraftbee ‘s ficlets about Decked Out eating Tango have been living in my head rent free so here’s a little post-do thing of my own.
-
“The server resets tonight.”
It’s been just over two months since Decked Out finished. Just over two months since anyone has seen or heard from Tango.
Zed knows what happened. Not the details. And he certainly couldn’t explain it to anyone else. But he knows.
And the gnawing feeling of guilt has kept him coming back to the dungeon. Every day.
Decked Out is asleep. Zed can walk through the citadel without a desperate need to throw himself to the ravengers. He can even wander below, into the redstone, without being electrocuted to death. Maybe it’s dead, but Zed doubts it. He knows it’s just sleeping. Eventually, it will wake up. It will be hungry and will lure whoever enters this world into its depths.
Maybe that’s when Tango will wake up too.
Zed won’t be here to see it.
“Who knows when you’ll be able to eat again?”
His voice is quiet but he knows the whole dungeon can hear him. He plays with the clasp on his gas mask. Tango’s storage room, where he lays on the dusty floor, has enough oxygen flowing through it still to allow him to breathe without the mask, though he’s already getting a bit of a headache. He’ll put the mask back on soon. Eventually.
“One last snack?”
He’s offered the dungeon himself hundreds of times these past few months. As a player, when it was live, hoping to spark a bit of his friend’s life back into him. Then after. Hoping for something. For a glimpse of flickering blue flame and wide eyes that had long since given up pretending to see.
There’s quiet.
There’s so much guilt in the quiet.
Don’t worry, Zed. Just a few months. Not too big of a project.
All good here. With level one done, the rest will go a lot quicker.
Yeah, level three got away from me a bit. Level four will be smaller, don’t worry.
Audio needed to be reworked, you know how it is. Soon.
Just tired, lost track of time last night.
Not too much longer now.
Don’t worry, I’ll be back to normal when the game’s done. Promise.
Did Tango know he was lying?
Zed is well aware that what he’s doing isn’t good for him. It’s ironic, how Tango pulled away from everyone, to eventually disappear in this cave. And now Zed’s doing the same thing.
It was always Tango pulling Zed out. Into the sun for a stupid game or a ridiculous project.  So it makes sense that without him, Zed can’t bring himself to leave the hole.
“I could break more redstone.” Zed offers the dungeon. “Really get you mad.”
He’d done that. About two weeks after Decked Out went dormant. He hadn’t gotten a reaction at the time. But the next day, everything was repaired.
That had spurred Zed into doing a stakeout. Break some stuff, sit and wait until the dungeon brought Tango out to fix it.
Zed had died down in the redstone, waiting. It hadn’t been a pleasant death.
That’s when Impulse had stepped in, staging his own intervention. But all it had done is make Zed feel more guilty.
An intervention for the guy who failed to do an intervention when Tango needed it most.
See? Ironic.
His head is starting to pound. He puts his mask back on.
“I want my friend back, you stupid castle,” He says through the mask. The dungeon understands him anyways.
He won’t be getting Tango back. He’s known that for much longer than he can admit.
Time passes. His phone dings a few times. It’s just the others. Making preparations. The server resets in just a few hours.
“Was it worth it?” Zed asks. “Not you, dumb dungeon. I’m asking Tango. Was it worth it? Did you make this choice? Did you know the consequences?”
Silence.
“Did you ever consider saying goodbye?”
The thing is? Tango was saying goodbye. In the only way he could. It was in the heartfelt artifacts crafted for each hermit. It was in his own voice, echoing words throughout the dungeon long after his own voice left him. It was in every ounce of the game.
None of them saw it until it was too late.
Zed stands. He has to be at spawn soon. He has stuff to pack. He has his own hole in the ground to say goodbye to.
He takes the long way out. Up into the main room of the citadel.
There’s a small part of him that hopes to see a glint of Tango. That’s what’s supposed to happen, right? A little wisp of blue fire. A soft voice. A gust of wind blowing a loose piece of paper across the floor. Something he can look at and be comforted by.
Nothing happens.
Zed knows that Tango’s gone.
He stands at the door. It’s open just a crack, just like he left it.
The night is clear.
“Goodbye, Tango.”

i really think kui put some kind of yuri cocaine in farcille bc they only have a few scenes together but they're perfectly calibrated to set himejoshi brains on fire
its cause their relationship is kind of just always present through the whole story. theyre not on camera with eachother 24/7 but marcilles devotion and worries and fears are heavy enough to play a role in falin's rescue also all the extra comics and daydream hour drawings where they might be the focus
