Less of Ed swooning over bearded, plainly dressed Stede, and more of Ed going, damn, I must love him if I still want to fuck him while he’s dressed up like that. More of the Ed who heard about the fancy man in pristine white stockings and lavender velvet breeches and ordered his men to drop everything and follow that ship. More of the Ed who damn near fainted when Stede expertly folded his silk pocket square and told him he wore fine things well. More of an Ed who has always had a thing for a man in lace and frills and had never been much attracted to any kind of rugged manly look even before years of only really socially interacting with other pirates left him sick to death of it.

[the one where Roy has Phoebe at the club because she's out of school for behavior and he yells at her and makes a sudden movement towards her in front of the lads. Jamie says "Don't do that," and Roy stops but tries to say Phoebe's fine with it until she bursts into tears. He immediately apologizes to her, frantically, mentioning what Jamie said about grabbing for her. She 'corrects' him, saying Jamie actually told him not to yell at her. He agrees of course, apologizes again, gives her a big hug, promises he won't anymore. Then he notices that Jamie is having a time of it, with his whole head stuck into his cubby. He sends Phoebe off to see the other coaches to 'decide on his punishment for upsetting her' and then asks Jamie if he owes him an apology too. Jamie insists Roy didn't do anything to him. Roy insists he does; he hurt Phoebe's feelings yelling at her, and he scared Jamie making that sudden move. He comes closer to apologize, touches Jamie's shoulder very lightly, and Jamie jumps hard enough to hit his head on the cubby. He curls his arms around his head, still in the cubby, but Roy slowly manages to pull him out, saying "Let me see." He tells Jamie he's sorry and gives him a big hug too.]
Alternate #12: Among Thieves, Lucius/Izzy(/Ed/Pete) + Broken
When Ed tries to ask Izzy if he still loves him but chickens out and asks if he still belongs to him instead, Izzy gets understandably pissed and suggests to Lucius that since pushing Ed overboard didn't make him feel better he should try stealing from him. Specifically, he should take something Ed hasn't properly appreciated having. Like Izzy. Rated E.

really really wanna know what tatts would stede have in that mini comic where he's more piratey and makes ed swoon (i spy some lyrics 👀)
OOOOO, tattoo role call time!
as you can see, he's got his wrist heart and the swallow on his arm (which i believe was his first; he had been wanting a tattoo and his 5,000th nautical mile pushed him into finally doing the thing)..... he's also got Ed's signature over his heart--the "X" we see on the british contract and on Izzy's cheek--and his kids' names on his ribs.
i also think he'd have a lighthouse somewhere, something designed by Mary, some plants/flowers/bugs he thinks are cool or interesting, and some nautical knots. that's all i can think of off the top of my head, but i wanna draw more of these two "older" designs soon, so feel free to drop tattoo suggestions in my inbox 👀

The memory is soothing to him: walking through the ship, room by room, the emptiness and quiet making it unreal and holy. Drawing a map with his steps. Pulling it back into realness, hall by hall, cabin by cabin, yard by yard, for Ed.
He's trying to focus, but the present avoids him like the wrong end of a magnet.
“Did I do something wrong?” Bonnet asks.

“Come on,” Ed says and drags Izzy up by the scruff, pushes him across the room and into a wall. Sharp nails under his shirt, a thigh pinning his crotch, Ed's mouth sucking bruises under his jaw.

"Who cares if I leave a mark," Ed growls. "I'm the fucking captain now."

Ed takes the middle watch every night, and Izzy silently assigns himself to the next shift, getting up early and wandering onto deck to stand in silence with Ed for the last half hour. The first time he relieves Ed only for the captain to prowl the deck instead of going to bed, he tries to cajole Ed into sleeping. After Ed crashes him into the railing and bends his back so far over the rolling dark waves he starts to get lightheaded, he stops trying to get Ed to do anything. He just watches.

"You know you don't have to fuck him for my sake," Ed says, and from the corner of his eye Izzy can see his body turn towards him.
He turns the flask over in his hands. "You think I'd let Bonnet fuck me if I didn't want to?"
"You might, actually." It sounds curiously accusing. "If it was for me. If you thought it was for me."

He locates the brace tossed on the floor and kneels before Ed.
"Come on," he says, voice cracking over the softness, and reaches for the leg with the boot on. It does lift from the floor, though it's heavy. Dead weight. More for grounding both of them than for any real need Izzy props up the heel on his own thigh, then gets to strapping the brace over Ed's thigh and calf.
"Tighter," Ed whispers. So he has a voice. So he's there. Izzy trains his eyes on the shiny black knee and doesn't think about leaning his head against it.

Stede withdraws to remove his nightgown, then leans back on his heels, naked and half hard now, looking Izzy all over thoughtfully. Almost hesitantly.
"If you want your captain to touch you," Ed suggests, "you should ask him nicely for it."
Suddenly Stede's eyes are hard on Izzy's, expectant. There's a promise and a challenge that shoot through him like his body is being telegraphed the future. Still it takes a few moments to haul out the words hiding under his tongue.

"I was your best weapon," Izzy blurts, "and you maimed me ."
Ed turns back. "I know, it wasn’t right –"
"No," he interrupts. He needs Ed to get it. "I killed for you. I saved your life more times than I can count, same as you did mine. I protected you. I was always –" He doesn't know how to say it. He was always a blade between Edward and the world.
"You were vulnerable," he says, unable to hide the bitterness, "and you made it harder for me to protect you."

"'You will rejoice at my happiness; for your devotion to me is great and sincere.' The little mermaid kissed his hand, and felt as if her heart were already broken."
Ed is sitting next to the cannon again, looking at Stede with a fond expression. That's back to normal then.
“Why am I here?” Izzy asks drily as Ed tosses his legs into his lap.
“You stayed,” Ed says. Izzy recognises his own words.

Izzy is so tired; he has tired himself out like a fish on a hook, thrashing all day, and he's ready to let go.
"Don’t make this harder,” he pleads.
“Oh.” Stede frowns. “How do I make it easier?”
“Don’t,” he chokes, and it must make no sense, but Stede eyes him with an unexpected certainty.
I took my finger

He doesn't hear Ed come in until he's climbing on the sofa to curl up against Stede. Izzy has fallen against Stede's leg, mellow and drifting, one hand curling around Stede's ankle. Stede's palm still rests on the back of his head.
He opens his eyes when Ed's bare toes curl into his thigh.
"Want to come up?" Ed whispers.

Jack 100% killed Karl on purpose to escalate the situation (he's faking his intoxication and you can see him going for the Swede until he says 'not me' and then he chooses Karl). All his protestations are calculated too.
Stede kicking Jack off the boat remains one of my favorite moments for him, and him not relenting when Ed leaves too is even better.

Geraldo confession was too real
Jack is nowhere near as filthy as we've decided he is as a fandom? I think it's the way the suede looks and his overall color scheme coupled with the behavior? His cravat and shirt are really clean and the rest of his clothes are as well, especially directly contrasted with Black Pete and Roach in a couple scenes. His pants are cleaner than Lucius's. Honestly this fits really well with Ed's type (fussily dressed and well groomed bitches).
Olu bunking with Stede is so cute.
Lucius really does the most.

Had the thought of a Gentlebeard Grease AU but the problem with that when Stede shows up at Rydell and Ed’s friends try to rag on him for swooning over him, Ed would just immediately be like, Fuck off, Stede is my boyfriend now. And then Kenickie!Izzy would stab Sandy!Stede and call the cops on his slumber party I guess.

Ed & Stede are both suspects for murder. You can only help one of them (either by saying that actually it was you or by proving that they weren’t there at the time of the murder)
Who do you help out? (And bonus question: how do you do it? - can be any of the two options i gave, but doesn’t have to be)

I would definitely represent Ed and I'll explain why so buck up -
- Chances are, Stede actually did it, cause well, my boy loves a good murder. Depending on how much of ye old nbc Hannibal he's caught up on at that point, it's either an accident or very very planned. Stede likes murder, it's his cute quirk. My boy would murder Agatha Christie to get out of a boring dinner party, he has John Watson on speed dial for exactly this situation (Holmes blocked his number after the second murder)
- Ed would have a super strong alibi for the time of murder. It was Valentine's Day and he was with the entire crew, they were helping him carve S+E at SEA (credit to @beardedblack for this) all over the ship. He would have a lot of witnesses to this cause he did get the entire crew to help him. Izzy was drawing little dick drawings next to those carvings
- Saving Ed means that I no longer have to worry about Stede being imprisoned for murder (he's white he won't be hanged there isn't really any real danger to his life tbh). Ed would be free to plan an elaborate fuckery to get Stede out of prison and make a romantic gesture out of it. There will be gunpowder and smoke, they could redo their slutty first meeting of "you must be the gentleman pirate" and stede would giggle and swoon through his "you've heard about me?"
- Downside - Ed would probably throw me overboard for not siding with Stede but I'm a strong swimmer so that's okay (im not weak like lucius he should just not have drowned I feel)

The crew looked over from their duties, Roach angrily bobbing up through the floorboards from below. A raving jack-in-the-box who thankfully needed both hands to steady his climb, leaving his kitchen knife safely unweilded.
“Should we get more from Nana?” Oluwande asked.
Jim rolled their eyes. “...how the fucking seagull found her with that note...”
“Brilliant creatures,” Buttons muttered. “Two day shipping.”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions,” Stede insisted. “Surely it’s an innocent mistake.”
Last Night
“It’s made of oranges?” Ed asked, spreading the mask on his face. “I’ll fucking glow.”
“Like the sun,” Stede swooned.
