okay. OKAY. I JUST WANT TO SAY.
NEW MUSIC STYLE. NEW ART STYLE. NEW MAGIC SYSTEM, NEW GIRLS, MORE CLARA DOLLS, MORE HOMURA OUTFITS, MORE EVERYONE OUTFITS, and AAHAHAHAHSGH.
Homura wins by style points alone.
Anyway. Choice screenshots and my thoughts on them. Plus a few wild theories. Replies, tags, and your own reactions are VERY welcome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(You're doing great, sweetie!)
First of all, I’ve already said this, but Homura has usurped Kyubey. She is the contractor in this new system. She calls magical girls and asks them if they can bear the responsibility of fighting (LEAGUES better than Kyubey's misleading BE A HERO language), using a magical lizard phone. She knows better than anyone else how heavy this is.
And she looks amazing while doing it. Look at that outfit! Look at her steampunk-esque aesthetic! Her throne. Which, notably, has glowing magenta eyes and her wings as a backrest.
The moon is either actually, physically repurposed, or she’s made something that looks like it. Not only that, but the pins going into the moon are exactly like the pins that went into her soul gem when she was being experimented upon in Rebellion. Those pins, according to the artbook, are for draining her gem of grief to keep her just before the point of witching.
Well, here’s my first wild speculation: Homura has not only taken over Kyubey’s job as a contractor but also its job of disposing of grief. That moon steampunk device is maybe for collecting, concentrating, and distilling grief into energy - hence the strange tesla coils connected to red liquid in the second screenshot above. She's doing what Kyubey says it's doing - turning the grief of people into energy to prolong the universe's lifespan.
I for one support her reality-warping shenanigans.
Tumblr media
Here are some voices over a phone, sometimes speaking over each other, sometimes together. They call Homura “Akuma-sama” (!!!) which is a distinct upgrade from calling her Good-For-Nothing. They say “Just bring hope” like a mission statement. Are these her contracted girls? Or her Clara Dolls? They seem to show her a lot of respect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve also said this, but I strongly feel that this and the girl shown later are some of Homura’s new contractees. Their magic is darker. It warps the world around them, even. Their outfits incorporate black a lot more, too, though that might be the lighting.
Tumblr media
Look at the little sigil on the top left-middle! Looks a lot like Homura’s lizard sigil shown when she was consuming the universe, just with a longer lizard.
Tumblr media
And, of course, the image of Madoka throwing herself off of a building. “Wraith” and “Legend of Bestie” (lmao) show up here. I’ve actually been really looking forward to seeing what they’ll do with Madoka’s… self-sacrificial tendencies, so this might be part of that. Or, because of “Wraith”, it’s… well, I’ll get to that later.
On the other hand, it might not be Madoka. It might be the girl who the speaker in the phone call calls her "best friend", jumping to her death because of a wraith, and Homura saving her to fulfill a wish.
Tumblr media
So glad that the insane architecture from Rebellion is making a comeback. Love what you’ve done with the place, Homura. Look at all those cranes!
The outfit changes are very cool to me. I honestly don’t have speculation for why Sayaka is covered in bandages, but I do have speculation for the changes!: they’re older. Years have passed. Since they’ve changed and grown, their outfits have changed, too. I don't have proof of this - I just like the idea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Light shines down on Madoka. Petals fall towards her as flowers bloom above. Behold, Homura's extremely subtle and inscrutable feelings. (Sorry for the blurry Madoka, but I am not going through the ordeal of uploading screenshots to my computer again because Tumblr does not like mobile users).
Homura is apparently waiting for Madoka here. She's standing right in the fountain's water and holding a Victorian umbrella like a vampire. Right now we can see that the visuals of this movie will not miss.
Is this a routine thing for them or is Homura just showing up to greet them this one time, for some reason? No clue. Madoka's expression as she notices Homura could indicate either.
Eagle-eyed people on Twitter noticed this, but in these shots, Sayaka already has her bandages.
Tumblr media
Aside from the multiple and/or teleporting Homuras, there's also a Clara Doll in a ballerina dress and a cute Clara Doll peering over the side of the tower like a little kid.
The tower is interesting. It appears to be made of books or pages, and there's chains throughout it. More notably, it's in the shape of a helix - infinity symbols on top of each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please appreciate these Clara Dolls. I'm sure they're working hard.
But seriously, those Clara Dolls' details. One has a witch's hat. One has an apple on its head. And the one with a teacup appears to have not only a lizard's tail but a replica of Homura's Devil outfit. Appreciate them!
Tumblr media
Here is Homura(?), lounging or trapped on a chair filled with even more of those pins. Look at her closely. She's wearing a strange combination of her magical girl outfit and her Devil outfit - her shoulders are bare, and she has... feathers? She's sitting on a bunch of nails. But she also has two soul gems - one in her hand, and one hanging from her neck.
Is she cleansing them? Eating them? Holding people hostage? I don't know, but I support her completely.
Tumblr media
She looks so tired.
So: here's some of what I think might be going on.
Homura is using wraiths to repress her worst memories. We know already that wraiths take memories and emotions from their victims. Well, there's no reason it can't be used as extremely terrible coping! Homura actually does this in the Wraith Arc, too - she lets a wraith take her feelings for Madoka.
If it is Madoka, it explains the shot with Madoka throwing herself off a builing - what if Homura has seen this happen in the loops, and out of pain lets a wraith pull it right out of her? The shot says "WRAITH" and billows with smoke. A wraith could have taken Madoka's form to act out this memory. And it doesn't need to be a memory - it could also represent Madoka's self-sacrifice and almost suicidal tendencies. This, too, would explain the multiple Homuras. All wraiths using her form.
This puts forward powerful enemies for the plot, as well as an interesting point of literally fighting Homura's demons. Most importantly, this lets everyone see Homura's pain.
Other wild dartboard speculations:
Homura will try and present herself as a villain. This is, honestly, kind of guaranteed, but it bears mentioning that her magical girls will be very likely to try to defend her.
Kyubey may appear to try and turn the girls against Homura.
Homura made the new magical girl who is drawing a bow. She has a lot of design choices from the Quintet, and people have already noticed how much she looks like Madoka. This new girl plays a role of the hero to Homura's pretend-villain, eliminating the risk that her friends will get seriously hurt.
The new magical girl is actually Madoka. Or the Law of Cycles. Or Kriemhild Gretchen.
The girl who jumps from the tower is a contractee being asked to take a leap of faith. She does so, and Homura rewards her with magic.

I am once again posting the solarpunk manifesto because I keep seeing people saying that solarpunk is just an aesthetic
Inspired by Solarpunk: A Reference Guide and Solarpunk: Notes Towards a Manifesto
A Solarpunk Manifesto
Solarpunk is a movement in speculative fiction, art, fashion, and activism that seeks to answer and embody the question “what does a sustainable civilization look like, and how can we get there?”
The aesthetics of solarpunk merge the practical with the beautiful, the well-designed with the green and lush, the bright and colorful with the earthy and solid.
Solarpunk can be utopian, just optimistic, or concerned with the struggles en route to a better world ,  but never dystopian. As our world roils with calamity, we need solutions, not only warnings.
Solutions to thrive without fossil fuels, to equitably manage real scarcity and share in abundance instead of supporting false scarcity and false abundance, to be kinder to each other and to the planet we share.
Solarpunk is at once a vision of the future, a thoughtful provocation, a way of living and a set of achievable proposals to get there.
We are solarpunks because optimism has been taken away from us and we are trying to take it back.
We are solarpunks because the only other options are denial or despair.
At its core, Solarpunk is a vision of a future that embodies the best of what humanity can achieve: a post-scarcity, post-hierarchy, post-capitalistic world where humanity sees itself as part of nature and clean energy replaces fossil fuels.
The “punk” in Solarpunk is about rebellion, counterculture, post-capitalism, decolonialism and enthusiasm. It is about going in a different direction than the mainstream, which is increasingly going in a scary direction.
Solarpunk is a movement as much as it is a genre: it is not just about the stories, it is also about how we can get there.
Solarpunk embraces a diversity of tactics: there is no single right way to do solarpunk. Instead, diverse communities from around the world adopt the name and the ideas, and build little nests of self-sustaining revolution.
Solarpunk provides a valuable new perspective, a paradigm and a vocabulary through which to describe one possible future. Instead of embracing retrofuturism, solarpunk looks completely to the future. Not an alternative future, but a possible future.
Our futurism is not nihilistic like cyberpunk and it avoids steampunk’s potentially quasi-reactionary tendencies: it is about ingenuity, generativity, independence, and community.
Solarpunk emphasizes environmental sustainability and social justice.
Solarpunk is about finding ways to make life more wonderful for us right now, and also for the generations that follow us.
Our future must involve repurposing and creating new things from what we already have. Imagine “smart cities” being junked in favor of smart citizenry.
Solarpunk recognizes the historical influence politics and science fiction have had on each other.
Solarpunk recognizes science fiction as not just entertainment but as a form of activism.
Solarpunk wants to counter the scenarios of a dying earth, an insuperable gap between rich and poor, and a society controlled by corporations. Not in hundreds of years, but within reach.
Solarpunk is about youth maker culture, local solutions, local energy grids, ways of creating autonomous functioning systems. It is about loving the world.
Solarpunk culture includes all cultures, religions, abilities, sexes, genders and sexual identities.
Solarpunk is the idea of humanity achieving a social evolution that embraces not just mere tolerance, but a more expansive compassion and acceptance.
The visual aesthetics of Solarpunk are open and evolving. As it stands, it is a mash-up of the following:
1800s age-of-sail/frontier living (but with more bicycles)
Creative reuse of existing infrastructure (sometimes post-apocalyptic, sometimes present-weird)
Appropriate technology
Art Nouveau
Hayao Miyazaki
Jugaad-style innovation from the non-Western world
High-tech backends with simple, elegant outputs
Solarpunk is set in a future built according to principles of New Urbanism or New Pedestrianism and environmental sustainability.
Solarpunk envisions a built environment creatively adapted for solar gain, amongst other things, using different technologies. The objective is to promote self sufficiency and living within natural limits.
In Solarpunk we’ve pulled back just in time to stop the slow destruction of our planet. We’ve learned to use science wisely, for the betterment of our life conditions as part of our planet. We’re no longer overlords. We’re caretakers. We’re gardeners.
Solarpunk:
is diverse
has room for spirituality and science to coexist
is beautiful
can happen. Now

I finished the first season of Arcane. It's impressive, so artistic and strong in narrative telling. Every character has a marked personality conveyed through their every feature including their looks and body language. Highest pinnacle aesthetics, the scenery is captivating.
That being said, every transformers fan that watches it, perhaps, can't but notice the striking parallels with the Aligned and Idw1 lore. Actually... the background plot is quite the same.
The major problematic arises because there's a dramatic split of social hierarchy.
In Transformers, it exists the caste system and functionism. In Arcane, society is divided in high and low classes as well. Low castes are heavy work labourers, such as miners, gladiators, etc. They are rude, often violent, and outcasts. They suffer scarcities and unjustice from a government who despises them or is oblivious to their strife. The same for low classes in Arcane. (Save for existing gladiators)
High and mid castes are government, scientists, military, artists, not brute workers such as archivists. The same for Arcane.(save for archivists)
The different castes/classes are split in separate places. Low castes/classes are not allowed into the wealthy cities.
The low castes in Transformers and low classes in Arcane live in cities polluted by the vapors of factories and such, or that seem darkened somehow. The sick, the addicted and the mentally ill are common. Crime is not in short supply. Criminals are exiled or seek shelter there because there their activities are unnoticed.
Tumblr media
Kaon (Transformers)
Tumblr media
Zaun (Arcane)
Tumblr media
Iacon (Transformers)
Tumblr media
Piltover (Arcane)
The ruling entity is conformed by an association of a number of characters called the Council in both cases. (In Transformers there's also a Prime, which has no analog in Arcane)
Tumblr media
The High Council and the Hall of justice. (Transformers)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Council and their Tower. (Arcane)
There are also enforcers.
The antagonist is a menacing character, witty, terrifying and sexy arrogant as hell who has no qualms on use whatever means to get his way. They come from mines, they want freedom and autonomy to their kind but also crave power and know no boundaries. They value loyalty in a high degree and demand it, –the consequences of betrayal are dire. They endorse violence as way of change and are cruel and remorseless. They both have deep streaks of scars on their faces creasing their lips and share a liking for purple, dubious substances.
Tumblr media
Megatron and Dark energon
Tumblr media
Silco and the shimmer.
Also, they used to have an ally whom they referred to as brother, but who parted ways with them because of the virulent and dangerous, radical tendencies of the turned antagonist. These ally is/was noble, strong but kind and knows/learned that violence should be the last resort.
They both have as well subordinates that would follow them through hell because they, among other reasons, see in them that which any other. And these subordinates are feared and their own way of creepy.
Tumblr media
Frag, it's Soundwave!
Tumblr media
Oh, no, it's Jinx...!
Tumblr media
And Sevika
Overal, the running story and focus is obviously very different, with various elements of their own, but honestly, the background plot and various parallels sometimes caused the fleeting feeling that I was watching a prewar tfp human steampunk version. Don't take me wrong, I loved Arcane and am very interested in the next season.

what do alfred and arthur have in common? I think Alfred is more like Francis
-They're silly. Alfred more obviously so, but Arthur is as well. They both put on cat ears to 'prank' Japan and have random little races with each other just because. Hima himself said he can't decide if Arthur is a serious person or not.
-They're animal lovers. Arthur adopted a cat, named him Larry, and spoiled him. Alfred is literally depicted hugging a bunch of animals (including a gator) that the presidents had as pets. And he has a whale.
-Both grew up mainly alone. Arthur spent a lot of his childhood alone, so he assumes it's normal and tells Alfred he will be fine by himself, too. Arthur ends up away taking care of his own nation duties most of the time, and Alfred is shown just kind of doing things by himself.
-They have weird taste in food. Arthur's is either bland or burnt (though he's gotten better) while Alfred has all those neon cakes. Arthur also loves McDonald's and that cheesy American food he tried in the courtroom strips. They both love sweets as well.
-They like to tease. Arthur told Alfred with a big smirk that he might be a snakeman for Halloween, and Alfred is scared of snakes. They also lightheartedly teased each other over the phone about their political problems. Once when they were camping/spying at night, Alfred tried to tease Arthur about how the atmosphere felt like 'bloodthirsty monsters' were about to come out of nowhere. Arthur said if he were a monster, he'd avoid Alfred, and Alfred winked and said, "Well, it can get pretty dangerous around me!"
-They both like seeing each other in questionable/skimpy outfits, such as the Robin costume, a Rio Carnivale outfit, and Alfred's April Fool's outfit.
-They're both competitive. There's the whole Halloween competition they always have, and then there was that random race that I mentioned earlier.
-They're interested in old coins, as depicted in that strip about Arthur showing Alfred an old coin he found.
-They have a hard time being honest, and hide their vulnerability since they're sensitive to rejection. Alfred is tentative to admit how much Arthur means to him, like when Arthur was dying, or when he rejected Arthur's offer of friendship – despite very obviously wanting to be his friend given how much he goes out of his way to find excuses to hang out. In turn, Alfred's rejections make Arthur put up walls and come up with excuses of his own when he does things for Alfred, such as giving him food.
-They like showing off/impressing the other. Again, the coin Arthur excitedly showed Alfred. There were multiple times Alfred showed off during the Industrial Revolution, and then when Arthur was giving Alfred a tour of his country, he started texting his magical friends to come over the second Alfred expressed interest in wanting to see something fantastical.
-They're prideful. This goes along with the two points made above.
-The attention they give each other is mutual. Here's a whole post dedicated to the topic.
-Both love Halloween and scary things. They try to scare each other, Arthur has a tendency to sing creepy songs and likes ghost stories, and Alfred likes watching scary films and playing scary games even if they freak him out.
-Both love steampunk. Arthur got really excited when he found out Alfred shared this interest.
-They both have unusual friends. Tony, the whale, Flying Mint Bunny, and other magical creatures.
-They both like fantasy. Arthur watches fantasy movies and Alfred mentioned wanting to see fantastical things on his tour of England.
-They both like romanticism. Arthur is said to become a romanticist before he goes to bed and Alfred expressed an interest in romanticism on his tour of England.
-They both have experience as isolated countries. Arthur has his "Splendid Isolation" and the U.S. has spent a lot of time being isolationist as well.
-They're both intelligent. Arthur is described as sharp-witted and creative in his bio. Alfred is also creative, interested in archaeology, and is actually capable of reading the atmosphere, he just chooses whether or not to do so based on the situation.
-They value each other's opinions. England takes America's advice on how to improve his products, and America prompts England to give his plan a critique despite being sensitive to criticism. Also, Alfred wouldn't be sensitive to Arthur's criticism if he didn't care about his opinion.
-They like to please each other. Arthur often gives Alfred food, like ice cream and chocolate bars. In Hetalia Fantasia, Alfred planned and created an entire dungeon for months, only invited Arthur, and offered the prize of raising his stats extremely high if he won.

If there’s anything you dislike or find off about my readings (like wording, topics, focus), just tell me. I don’t want you to write 1000-word feedback, very simple comments will do for me to stay motivated. I don’t know why I have to keep repeating this but this is something I do for you, guys, and when I don’t feel motivated to do tarot readings, I have many other things to do. The more motivation I get, the more readings you will get to read. The logic is very simple but it’s two sided.

Full Name: Hong Joshua Stage Name: Joshua Group: Seventeen DOB: 30.12.1995 Blood Type: A MBTI: ENFJ Sun Sign: Capricorn Chinese Sign: Wood Pig Life Path Number: 3
Spread / Question: Ideal Partner Deck(s): Tarot in Wonderland
Tumblr media
Body - Ace of Cups
Joshua’s special person is likely someone who doesn’t seem to stand out in a crowd, they just blend in with the surroundings and follow the dress code that’s common in their field of work. They look completely ordinary like a tea cup, just one out of many in the cupboard of life. This plain and mundane look on the outside is likely to be a coverup for their real special and quirky self. In private, this grey mouse is likely to change utterly and feel most natural wearing something completely different from their usual apparel. Maybe they love to cosplay or maybe they love to wear like a vintage or steampunk fashion or maybe they just walk around their apartment in a unicorn onesie.
Heart - Page of Cups
Joshua’s ideal partner is a dreamer at heart. They might often space out or seem lost in their thoughts as they might have a tendency to daydream. Their inner life is very rich, they have many brilliant and unique ideas but they might lack the expertise or confidence to turn them into reality and so they just stock them up in their drawer, waiting for the time when they receive some well meant push to materialise them.
Spirit - Queen of Cups
Joshua’s perfect match is a very sensitive person, they can navigate through the emotional waters very well and they are likely to be highly emotionally mature. They don’t throw tantrums and they don’t give silent treatments to people, they are more than capable of communicating everything and anything through the way the other party won’t get upset regardless of the issue. This person is a down-to-earth romantic and while they do like to fantasise about a perfect romance, they have realistic expectations when it comes to their real life relationships. Joshua’s special partner is a person of well-developed intuition and they are likely to be able to help with processing complex emotions and feelings to other people while they don’t get personally overly engaged in the drama.
Soul - 5 of Cups
Joshua’s destined partner wasn’t born emotionally mature, they have been through things that left scars on their souls and hurt them. While they might have been through emotionally challenging times, those only helped them to grow and become a better person. They could have stayed bitter about the failures or disappointments but they decided to see the positive side of it all. Instead of holding grudges, Joshua’s special person let go of hate and resentment and embraced the little gifts in life. They managed to recognize the blessings rather than focusing on what went wrong. And this helped them to reach the emotional calm and peace of mind they have now.
Time - 7 of Swords
First thing that comes to my mind here is a thief of hearts. Joshua’s ideal partner might sort of sneak into his life and slowly but steadily build a close connection with him. See how the person on the card is leaving but leaving traces? Joshua’s significant other might try to escape as they recognize things are getting too serious but they - intentionally or unintentionally - leave so many traces behind them that it’s not a problem for Joshua to track them down and continue with the romance.
Place - VIII Strength
Joshua’s ideal partner is likely to create a very safe home for them both to live in. They might be very protective of him but at the same time respecting his nature and his ambitions. Joshua’s perfect match is likely to adjust their home in order to make it most comfortable for them both. If Joshua needs to travel, his partner is going to travel with him and turn any hotel room into an improvised home nest.
Possible Physical Features
Tumblr media
(Joshua’s Ideal Partner might only have one or two of these features or they can have them all.)

As promised here’s a follow up to my last post!. Mad scientist breeds plus a bit of info about keeping them 😊.
• First off we have the classic cartoon mad scientist!. These guys are great for beginners and are really easy to care for. They can range from silly little guys who just wanna make weird gadgets to villains who need more special interaction.
• The old school breed is classic, though I wouldn’t recommend for first time owners. These guys after often undone by hubris and will try to bend the laws of nature if left unsupervised for long (frankenstein and Dr Jekyll fall here) it is recommended to have a hero to keep them in check
•The horror doctor. These guys are notable for their blood stained looks, and a tendency to do horrific expiriments on living subjects for the fun of it. These guys really shouldn’t be left alone and some people argue against the breed cause they are often bred to be violent.
•One of my favorites, steampunk scientists!. These guys are covered in gadgets and love to tinker!. They are great for a family but you need to make sure they have enough metal (preferably brass and copper) to make things!. Otherwise they will get depressed!.
• This isn’t really a breed, but of course there is a morph that can occur in any breed: limb replacements!. Whether it’s a see through head,a mechanical arm,or basically anything, some mad scientists will replace bits of themselves with synthetic replacements. It has been argued that this is due to stress, but no real answer has been agreed on as perfectly healthy and happy scientists have been seen to do this.
• Genetic mutation scientists are some of the hardest to care for, as their needs constantly shift. If you don’t give them enough external stimulants they tend to mix their genes with whatever tickles their fancy.
•Lastly feral scientists. These are not pets and should not be approached in the wild! You can generally tell a domesticated scientist from a wild one in three simple ways; a feral scientist will carry a bag filled with equipment, their lab coat will be less bright, and they have sharp claws to defend them selves. Best to keep away for both yours and the scientists safety.
Of course different genres will determine colours and personalities of all breeds. A children's media steampunk scientist will act a whole lot different than a horror one. And these are just a few notable breeds!. Be sure to do research before choosing a pet :).

Hello Maester Steven,
You stated that you didn’t rate Turtledove as an alternate historian. Who would you call the best writer of alternate history out there today?
That's a bit tricky, because some of the best alternate histories ever written were one-and-done efforts by sci-fi writers who didn't continue in the genre, and vice-versa, a lot of writers who specialize in alternate history are pretty dire.
So instead I'm going to list what I consider to be some of the best alternate history novels out there regardless of whether they come from the pen of a "writer of alternate history":
Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson. AH can be a very American- and European-centric field, which makes Robinson's POD that completely eliminates Europe (and thus the United States of America) during the Black Death and then really follows through on exploring a world where India and China become the world hegemons all the more impressive.
The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon. A fascinating exploration of Jewish identity, Zionism, and organized crime set in a world in which, rather than turning away Jewish refugees during WWII, the United States established a temporary homeland for Holocaust survivors...in Alaska.
The Difference Engine by William Gibson. Although Gibson is perhaps better known as one of the fathers of the cyberpunk genre, he's also someone with a long-standing interest in alternate history as a genre, both as a critic/reader (he's a big fan of Kingsley Amis) and as a writer. The Difference Engine is a fascinating exploration of the political and cultural impact of Charles Babbage succeeding in creating the first computer in the 1820s, and in addition to being a very good work of alternate history, essentially gave birth to the steampunk genre as well.
Sailing to Sarantum and othe novels, by Guy Gavriel Kay. Although Kay has a tendency to disguise his alternate histories through relatively subtle world-building and naming changes, what Kay is actually about is depicting alternate histories where Justinian's legions never march west, or where the Langue d'Oc culture of southern France is not swallowed up by the expansionism of the Parisian metropole.

what are your hidden wings?
Tumblr media
++Steampunk Wings++
Cool, your hidden wings would very likely be complex, high-tech steampunk wings! These futuristic wings could look almost however you want them to, whether broad or thin, webbed or plated. The only downside to them, however, is that they can be a little risky and tend to malfunction, whether in bad weather or an aerial fight. They can adjust to fly in multiple different styles, and are great for doing carefully planned stunts and tricks in midair!   These hidden wings are often obtained by someone with superior intellect and a creative and quick-thinking mind. People with these wings are very inventive and analytical, and have a strong interest in technology and how things work. Oftentimes others are envious of their talents and intelligence, often considering them "nerds" or "teacher's pets". You don't care what they say, though, and often have a sarcastic comment to fight back at them. This may have a tendency to get you in trouble at times, but for the most part, you are very respectful of those in authority. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strengths: Intelligent, Analytical, Talented, Quick thinkers, Respectful of authority Weaknesses: Snarky, Sarcastic, Not always very strong physically Flight style: Somewhat risky and difficult to control, but can be adjusted for various flying techniques Representing Element(s): Metal/Electicity

What's your opinion on the funny Bolero man?
okay, I have a LOT of opinions on Ravel, and I’ve actually done quite a bit of research on him. He’s one of my favourite composers, and his life story just… god.
So the first thing I want to say about Ravel is that his music tends to be very easily misunderstood, and this is according to Ravel himself. Ravel is a toymaker, a tinker. He called himself “artificial by nature,” and that’s the key thing to understand. Ravel is artificial, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing; in fact, that’s part of his appeal and what makes his music unique. Much of the time, he’s not directly seeking to express an emotion, but rather a depiction, an imitation of one. It’s like he’s creating clockwork automatons of living things that are not meant to be lifelike, but to be clockwork. He imitates other composers in “A la Maniere de Borodin/Chabrier,” objects and animals in “L’enfant et les Sortileges,” and the styles of other cultures around the world across his body of work. On the subject of the last one, Ravel does often have a tendency towards Orientalism, which can be sometimes cringey in today’s social environment (“Chinoiserie” and a general fascination with the East was very much in fashion in his day), but I think Ravel’s impressions of Asian, Middle Eastern, and even European music (including Spain; Ravel was part Basque and was very proud of that) can be best understood when compared to Disney’s “Small World” ride. You’re not getting an authentic picture of the world; you’re getting a mechanical fantasy based on it.
I bring up machines a lot when I talk about Ravel, not just in reference to his music, but also to his life. Stravinsky referred to him as the “most perfect of Swiss watchmakers,” his father was in inventor (who was also responsible for creating a machine that resulted in a fatal mishap, aptly called the “Whirlwind of Death;” look it up), and he had a lifelong fascination with toys and mechanical objects. We see them prominently featured in his opera “L’Heure Espagnole,” the vocal piece “Noel des Jouets” (a little-known piece about the Nativity, except make it steampunk!), and of course, Bolero, which is perhaps one of the most misinterpreted Ravel works.
The thing about Bolero is it’s not supposed to be sexy. And many Ravel pieces are- Nahandove from “Chansons Madacasses” (a cycle which, I should add, also includes a striking rebuke of French colonialism in “Aoua”), Daphnis et Chloe’s Bacchanale, maybe even La Valse. However, Ravel stated that “Bolero should be played at a constant speed from beginning to end, in the plaintive, monotonous style of Arabo-Spanish melodies.” He considered it his only masterpiece, not because of its beauty or virtuosity, but because it achieved what he set out to write- a piece with “no form properly speaking, no development, no modulation, or hardly any.”
I think this is where misinterpretations of Ravel most commonly arise, when his artificiality is mistaken for genuine passion. Famously, with his “Pavane for a Dead Princess,” Ravel disliked interpretations that were too slow, remarking that “it’s a Pavane for a dead princess, not a dead Pavane for a princess.” While slow interpretations may intend to be elegiac, a steady tempo brings another meaning to the title- not that this Pavane would be heard at a princess’ funeral, but rather something that a princess from a past time would have danced while alive. And we can also connect this to the view of death Ravel takes in “Le Tombeau de Couperin,” a work with each movement dedicated to a friend who died in WWI (Ravel served as a nurse and supply truck driver). Despite being a memorial piece, “Le Tombeau” is largely joyful; the “Minuet” displays some sentimentality, but this work is largely dedicated to celebrating life, rather than mourning death.
Another thing to consider about Ravel was that he made his aesthetic his entire personality. And I’m dead serious about that. Ravel adopted the fashion style and philosophy of Dandyism, in which one was to make themselves stylish and presentable, while appearing detached and aloof from the rest of the world, keeping inner feelings private. Ravel was very particular about his personal appearance (he was once late to a funeral because he couldn’t decide which suit to wear!) and hardly divulged deeply personal information in his private correspondence- for instance, while it’s likely he may have been aromantic, as far as we know, we don’t have any evidence of Ravel having any committed romantic or sexual partners (although we do have a few accounts from other people claiming he sometimes saw prostitutes). He kept his passions and fears largely secret, and this is further reflected in his works; while he often dedicated them to friends and patrons, I can’t say I know of anything by Ravel that’s explicitly or otherwise proven to be biographical. As a composer, he takes a “Dandyistic” approach as well, giving us beautiful works while hardly allowing us a window into his mind.
One thing in particular about Ravel has haunted me, and that’s how he died. While he’d been showing signs of mental deterioration in years prior, in 1932, he got into a taxi accident, which likely accelerated what would be diagnosed as aphasia, although we still don’t know what exactly he had. For the next five years, Ravel would gradually become unable to read, write (both words and music), and play the piano, and sometimes had difficulty controlling his movements and recognizing people. Even prominent biographers like Roger Nichols express how devastating this period of Ravel’s life was, as his friends tried to make it, in Nichols’ words, “even remotely tolerable.” During this time, Ravel could compose in his head, but not write anything down, and was even planning at least two major works- an opera called “Jeanne d’Arc,” and a ballet called “Morgiane.” His friends took him on a trip to Morocco and he immensely enjoyed it, appearing to temporarily improve, but afterwards, his mental health continued to decline. Looking at Ravel’s correspondence from this time is devastating, as we see his handwriting get messier and messier, then only typewritten letters, and then nothing at all. At a performance of his ballet, “Daphnis et Chloe,” Ravel reportedly began to cry, remarking, “and yet, there is still so much music inside my head!”
Sources vary on whether or not Ravel was aware of the fact, but his brother Edouard arranged for him to have an operation with the famous brain surgeon Clovis Vincent. Afterwards, Ravel woke up from the surgery, asked to see his brother, but fell comatose, dying in his sleep on December 28th, 1937. Dr. Vincent reportedly did not find ant tumours.
… anyway, this ended up way longer than I expected it to be. but I really like ravel

The masses have spoken! Next up in Hooter’s roster, we have this dastardly wolf-man here, my own version of the Big Bad Wolf.
Starting out in life as a normal human, Louis Garou was a notorious criminal and thief, who acquired an enchanted wolf skin that transformed him into a wolf when he put it on. He used it to aid him in robberies and all sorts of devilish deeds, but once he began to rely on it too much, he didn't heed the warnings about misusing this powerful magic item. He wore it for far too long, and as a result, the skin permanently fused with his own flesh, trapping him in werewolf form. He eventually figured out a way to morph back into a semi-humanoid state, but he can never regain his true form.
An outcast unable to blend in with similar races and monsters (mostly because of his obnoxious and gluttonous tendencies), he migrated from the rural countryside to the Victorian steampunk city of Mythos, a place where the wealthy live in the highest buildings and the poor live on ground level alongside shady characters and dangerous beasts of legend…Louis Garou included.
More info under the cut:
Name: Louis Garou
Pronouns: He/him
Age: Mid to late 30s
Species: Werewolf (used to be fully human)
Role: Pred
Height: 8 feet tall (10 in “beast” form)
Abilities: Can shift into a 10 foot tall “beast wolf” form when under high stress, sharp teeth and claws
Personality: This fella makes himself out to be a refined gentleman, but he’s really a liar, a thief, and a gluttonous beast underneath it all, luring in unsuspecting victims with his wit and charms. Ironically, Louis isn’t nearly as wealthy as he claims he is, and whatever wealth he does have wasn’t acquired though legal means. However, as much as he’s this infamous, powerful creature, he can be a real doofus and a straight up coward when he’s outmatched.
Likes: Eating, squirmy prey, fancy clothes, jewelry, showing off, flaunting his (nonexistent) wealth, gingerbread, card games, drinking, flirting, playing cards, penny dreadfuls, grooming himself, being pampered
Dislikes: Witches, magic curses, law enforcement, sharp objects, woodcutters, living in poverty, indigestion, headless horse-men, rain, fire, gray hairs, old ladies with rolling pins, being held accountable
Other Info:
-Speaks in a Cockney accent
-The light of the full moon has a powerful effect on his shapeshifting abilities. It temporarily traps him in his more beastly form, unable to transform back, which can last from one to three days.
-On decent terms with a troll living under a bridge and an old crone who used to be a noblewoman
-On VERY bad terms with a headless horse-man who runs the local “monster mafia”
-If you know the story of Little Red Riding Hood, you know how he got that scar on his tummy…

!!
Name: Gwendolyn "Gwen" [REDACTED]
Pronouns: She/Her or It/Its
Appearance: Humanoid clockwork steampunk robot with gold chassis and ivory-feathered wings. Golden brown eyes. Dirty blonde wavy shoulder length hair. Roughly 7 feet tall.
Gwen is a character whose design and personality I initially ripped off Grian (the minecraft RP character, not his real life counterpart) of Hermitcraft and 3rd Life fame, who quickly mutated into her own fully formed oc. She exists in a steampunk original fiction universe I have and also in Netherbound (original fiction RP).
Steampunk!Gwen is a clockwork-powered humanoid robot who killed its creator and ended up in a junkyard on one of Jupiter's moons, the trade planet Callisto. It ended up being picked up and restored by black market scrap merchant and technomancer Vanessa and her time-travelling fugitive companion Ace Davenport. The three became a trio of friends after a rocky start where Gwen was concerned the other two intended to use her as a weapon or bargaining chip, before realizing they had no idea of her actual value or origin, and mainly combined their forces to scam and pirate throughout the galaxy.
Netherbound!Gwen is a former captive of The Radio Host, captured during a poorly-planned and executed visit to the citadel of Radio Town and modified against her will using the scrap parts salvaged from Clockwork Folk killed during the war between the Clockwork and Radio citizens. She's an experimental prototype android The Radio Host regularly "upgrades" as punishments when she fails him in some way, taking away more of her human parts and replacing them with machinery. His reasons for creating her in the first place are unclear, as although he keeps her around as a bodyguard, he has far more efficient and effective defence mechanisms. He seems to just be interested in nonconsensually modifying her because he can and people's reactions intrigue him.
Netherbound!Gwen eventually escapes The Radio Host with the help of Netherbound!Vanessa, a human glamorsmith (someone who crafts illusion magic designed to alter one's appearance), and exiled Clockwork Folk Sentinel (a centaur-like clockwork automaton with a man's upper body and centipede lower body) and Karmistice (a tripedal clockwork turret gun automaton). Vanessa supplies Gwen with a glamor that allows her to regain a humanlike appearance, which improves her self worth and confidence and allows her to reenter society and come to terms with her transformation.
In both cases, Gwen and Vanessa grow closer through a combination of mutual antagonism and cahoots, and eventually form a relationship with romantic elements, although they never strictly define their relationship status.
Gwen is capricious and easily bored, with a tendency to act impulsively. She's extremely smart and has a sharp sense of wit that some people find a little too barbed to be friendly, but she generally means well, although she lacks empathy and tact. She doesn't quite understand the value of life due to her own being taken from her, but is extremely protective of those she cares about. She struggles with sincerity, and can be prone to jealousy and miscommunication as a result.

So you want to get into Empires?
With two seasons and an active Hermitcraft crossover, it might be a little daunting! Worry not, because I am going to provide the Idiot’s Guide to the Empires SMP so you can hop in and join the fun!
One: What is Empires?
Empires SMP is a multiplayer vanilla minecraft smp where each member basically takes a biome or a patch of land and makes an empire. Sometimes there is even lore, but that depends on the pov you’re watching.
Season One aired last year, and the current season is ongoing. They are basically entirely separate from each other unless you’re Pixlriffs or MythicalSausage. They aren’t like other girls.
Every member puts out videos and some stream. The season hasn’t been going on for too long and every episode is more or less 25 minutes, usually less, so it really isn’t that hard to catch up.
Two: Season two members
Ignoring the Hermitcraft members that isekai-d their ways into the server, here are the main server members and a brief overview of their Lore:
Smallishbeans: the 11 foot self-titled God of Lore with a slight inferiority complex and a god complex the size of Mount Rushmore (he would probably put himself up there with them)
LDShadowlady: definitely a human and local crime cat lady with a kingdom of sentient animals but again she is a human definitely
MythicalSausage: he’s like this guy okay but he has a tragic backstory that legit can’t be summarized in a sentence or less but also he keeps traveling dimensions in a sudden and alarming way and also he gives wood and strips :D
Solidarity: he is the Sheriff and he is Not A Toy, but he is currently going through a divorce and there are rumors he’s corrupt but c’mon he’s just a little guy c’mooooon
GeminiTay: she’s a princess :D
Katherine Elizabeth: she’s a princess (emo)
fWhip: a goblin in a goblin cave with goblin tendencies, and a lawyer, and a deputy, and a divorced man girlbossing his way into the sun
Joey Graceffa: yes that Joey Graceffa, but now he’s Pirate Joe and he’s bisexual and sad and kind of an incel tbh
TheOrionSound: so he joined late but actually this man fell out of the sky before the season started, killed the enderdragon, and got stuck in the end credits for years until he got out and found out the world had been settled by some real weirdos, and he’s even a “bard”
Scott Smajor (we know who he is): not gonna lie I don’t know his lore but he has some llamas and a black market and I think that’s all you need tbh
FalseSymmetry: she’s an amnesiac steampunk motherfucker from another world wearing a dead person’s clothes and she’s currently battling it out with her hermitcraft self For Some Reason (slay!)
Shubble: a swamp witch in a cursed swamp with a really cool hat, and she definitely knows what she’s doing all the time definitely
Pixlriffs: he’s the lore man with the lore in that he’s literally just Pixlriffs From Real Life but chilling in a world of larpers and freaks
Three: But what about lore?
Well, that depends on the person! I personally watch Joel, Jimmy, Sausage, and Oli, so I know their lore more than I know, say, Katherine and Gem’s lore.
Lore in this series isn’t like it is on, say, the Dream SMP. Think of it more like dungeons and dragons in minecraft. Everyone has their own thing going on and so it’s really easy to hop in and figure things out at your own pace. There has been one big server-wide event since episode one, and that was the Rift Festival.
Also the Hermits are here, but don’t worry about them

Got tagged by @fixaidea, thank you!!!
I technically did it a few days ago, but then I was tagged by myself, to let this tag game make rounds, so can I be excused for doing it again? 🥺
This time with Guardian/Weilan derivs focus, not to repeat the same info too many times ~~
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 144, and at this point Guardian and co are the majority of those
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
1,261,968 words - I am pretty much this meme:
Tumblr media
things always end up longer than I plan them to be 😓
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Well, aside from the old ones, currently mostly for Guardian, The Rebel/ Detective L (Luolin, my beloved), I dabble in DMBJ for weilan derivs purposes
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
In Guardian/Derivs fandom? Through the Window of This Love, written with Ascel (300), The Once and Future Hei Pao Shi (270), The Story's Unwinding, written with Ascel (223), One Prize I'd Cheat to Win (187), Constant Vigilance (177)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Oh, absolutely, I love talking to people in general, and I do like thanking people for sharing their thoughts about the story, 'tis why I share afer all
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Erm. Either When I Make an Oath to the Flames (Guardian) or Unceasing Path (Luolin)? Hard to choose, I do love angst and bad endings
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hm. Maybe We Devour Like a Falcon in a Dive? (Luolin) - it's as much of a fix-it as my angsty tendencies allowed these two
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Well. I wouldn't call it 'hate' but I did have some odd interactions lately that suggested gently that maybe I should stop writing.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, no smut from me. Behold my best buddy: Fade To Black
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Oh, yes, absolutely. Mostly of the Weilan derivatives persuation, admittedly, but it counts, right? I also comitted a Luolin/ Guardian crossover, inspired by Terry Pratchett and his observations about the nature of universities.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Kinda
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not a Guardian one
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Hah, hell yeah. Best kind of fun
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Weilan, on the basis that they are canon and the reason why I am still here and not moving on. From Weilan derivs: Luolin
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
A post-canon murder mystery with Luo Fei and Lin Nansheng that I am not educated enough to write just yet, too many things to research, too little time. Also I am not very good at Agatha Christie murder riddles, on the basis of: I haven't written any yet. Would love to try though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've heard that it's characterization and sense of humour. Unless I am gutting people, then it's the atmosphere?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Repetitions. Commas. Forgetting where the hell my characters are sitting. Ignoring the fact that they should eat at some point.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Sure, if researched and checked
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Inuyasha, I guess
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Hard to pick due to lots of sentiment to different ones for different reasons. In terms of 'this was a fic written by me, for me' then weilan!steampunk au Deceive me kindly (while I am still here), because it's a mixture of my favourite things: doomed romance, steampunk and references to the drama
Thank you once more for tagging me! 🥰
Tagging this time: @forerussake, @clevermanka, @sasamelons,
